listen people can have their differing opinions that’s cool I just Personally Feel Like it’s just so mean to be yelling that feedback such as likes on posts and a kudos on fics are “useless”. What do u mean. Why. are ppl not expressing their feelings in a way that makes them comfortable ? ?

Like I Understand i guess in the sense of you don’t get to hear peoples opinions. I also feel kinda lonely and stuff when it’s quiet feedback but calling anything useless sounds so WEIRD to me ??? What is the goal. And also yea they do something still I’m pretty sure????

Take ao3. Isn’t sort by kudos an option on there? If your goal is to be seen more or whatever then if people are looking for high kudos fics, then people giving ur fic a kudos isn’t useless yeah??

And then tumblr. People keep saying “likes do nothing here there’s no algorithm” or whatever but that’s not really fully true. On your standard dashboard, sure, likes “don’t do anything” to move a post around on there. BUT that’s not the only place people find posts. If u are looking in the tags for posts, im p sure the default is to sort by popular posts. That’s, as far as I understand, a TOTAL NOTES count. Likes are included. Likes help ur posts her higher in that “popular” zone. I have several posts that have ended up in there in some small ship tags BECAUSE of all the likes, which does still have people seeing those posts now and then when they’re in the tag.

AND I’m pretty sure it’s a similar mechanic for the for you page. I’m sure we think people don’t use that feature but I’m pretty sure people do/ maybe new users. This is more of a theory on my part lol buttttt. I’ve noticed a few rare times where I’ve made an addition to a reblog on someone else’s post, there will be a stretch of time sometimes where random people that Do Not Follow Me keep liking/reblogging the post via my addition. WAY more times for it to just be a stray person wanting it from my addition without comments under (and I don’t think people do that when they’re only liking the post lol). And the few times I’ve accidentally had my for you tab on, I believe it does show via other people’s reblogs lol. So that’s just my way of saying total note count INCLUDING LIKES probably does put posts in peoples eyes on the for you tab / my experience tells me people do use that feature so it’s not just sitting there dusty lol.

Anyway I like mostly understand why people want reblogs and comments, like I do prefer them too bc I like when people tell me what they r thinking (however sometimes people do not add their thoughts in the tags either and that is just how it is!). And I also understand some people maybe just don’t know that others like that kind of feedback and need to hear it first to feel encouraged. I think I just personally do not like the tone that a lot of posts have when they talk about it. When ur calling likes useless bc idk it’s not the right kind of feedback u wanted so it’s inferior ?? 😭😭😭 I also feel like that intense vibe like, idk if this makes sense or if other people felt it too, but it negatively shifted my own perception too? Like. I thought likes were fine. But now with how intense people are about them and not meant if likes bc they just don’t count in ur eyes, now when people like instead of reblogging, I just think of all those posts and I’m like “hmm ok is my post bad did I make a bad post bc everyone says the likes aren’t good so if I’m getting likes I made A Bad Post. It’s Pity Feedback” <- which is SO unhealthy and also tbh has a lot more to do with my own issues that are just getting influenced here so it’s not all on those posts lol. I just Also Have Extra Issues 🫡

I GOT ARLECCHINO AND HER WEAPON!!

Had to lose 50/50 to Qiqi tho, of course. At least it qas early. Also for some reason I had like 20+ pity on weapon banner already. I can't actually remember when I pulled something there... i think it might have been Neuvi's first banner?

Anywho as usual I got a bit overwhelmed with the new version content and I was quite sad I couldn't immediately get to her Boss :( of course they had to tie it to a world quest...

I started it but then got too tired after work. What I played of it so far was very cool tho! I can't wait to get into Remuria and King Remus lore, it already got me so excited at its first mention during world quests in 4.0.

I also love Arle'a playstyle! She definitely reminds me of Neuvilette in a sense that she doesn't really need any teammates. She can only receive healing through herself and so far she's the only character who's got the Bond of Life mechanic in her kit. I remember that a bunch of the craftable 4star weapons from Fontaine applied it to characters too tho, right? I wonder if there's gonna be mlre charaxters with that mechanic now? Although it feels quite late now. I don't look at leaks anymore so I'm assuming Sigewinne is a healer and a hesler with that mechanic seems weird to me? And for Clorinde I also think it wouldn't make sense? I mean it would also be cool if she wouls be the only character that had this... since it's unique and all.

Also this update came with quite a few cool quality of life changes! The map index looks different now and there's a bunch of new teapot stuff that makes it less of a hassle :) also the expanded inventory for enhancement ores... it was getting on my nerves. Now all I need to be happy is for them to add artifact loadouts and pre-set parties for the spiral abyss. I mean like... the game should save the parties you used in the previous reset in game, kinda like HSR does it for Memory of Chaos. I find it annoying to keep remembering what teams I used. It's not like other teams couldn't clear those floors, but after a few weeks floors 9 and 10 feel like a chore because they never change until big versions... yeah

Gonna dive more into the world quest tonight. Idk if you habw to finish it to get the boss, but usually that's the structure of the world quests... I just hope it's not too long. I wouldn't mind it if unlocking the boss wasn't tied to it. They've done this before and I just don't get it... make the boss accessible normally on the map and then just make him appear during the world quest at the end, is that so hard? This way most people are gonna forcibly skip through all the dialogue and the actual lore of a good quest just to level Arle as quickly as possible... i thought we were done with this but guess not. Or why would they give quick access to the Arle weekly boss but not the other one that is arguably a lot less spoiler-y? Idk man.

Aside from this though I like the update so far. The new map looks gorgeous and I didn't expect them to add a new city to Sumeru out of the blue? Guess it was to fill the map hole properly but I was still quite surprised to see they gave all of Northern Sumeru a coastline. Can't wait to go there :)

Played Portal revolution

It was good cooking, but should've stayed in the Pan for a little longer and had a little too much salt.

Spoilers below

The Good Parts:

Stirling and Emilia are very funny. I liked their dialogues and interactions, as well as their designs.

Stirling felt very much like Wheatley, Virgil, and Nigel, while also being demonstrably different and personable.

Emilia was unique and I enjoyed hearing about her backstory, as well as the fact she's very human, which makes sense.

I like the the Player Character's design.

The first Dual Portal device looks really cool, the exposed wires, the cracked glass, the scaffolding beneath the cover being exposed are all very good. The Jiggle Physics on the loose prong at the front was a nice touch.

The Second was a nice Red color, and the new portal colors were cool. It looked nice as well.

Being able to be outside was a nice change of pace, you know, being able to see that sun and the sky.

The Added mechanics of the Breaker Switches was really cool, and it made sense - the Aerial Faith Plates and such turning off when there was no power was interesting.

The Linked Weighted Pivot Cubes were also very cool, and was a very much appreciated new mechanic.

Bringing the Pipes in as part of it was fun. I always liked their designs.

The Bad parts

We spent too little time with Stirling and Emilia, the amount of time we spent with the one-portal device felt excessive (I Audibly said "No Shit" when Stirling made the Quip about finally finding the Dual portal device) and I think having us change between the Red and Broken ones wasn't necessary - it was neat, but I feel like we should've had just one, because then it would've been our only constant ally when we would be separated from the Cores, as well as making the use of the portal Guns seem less special, given we find just a random working one.

What is Stirling plan? Bring Glados Back, and try to mitigate the damage she does to Aperture and the Humans and Cores inside of it? Glados started this (well Cave did, but semantics) She was killing Test subjects, and the one that survived had to kill her to survive. Maybe he's just scared of seeing his home fall apart so he takes his anger out on Chell, even though He's working to save it and put a killer on the throne.

The mechanics I mentioned above (Breaker Switch, linked Cubes, Pipes) were severely under utilized, especially when in the boss fight, it would've been so cool to have to use them to take out turrets and launch blocks and turn of certain sections of the Spire to traverse!

Some of the writing felt off? Like, Stirling presents the dangers of everything with way too much forwardness. he should've said something more like "Yeah try not to stand under that too long, You'll just make a Mess. I mean, who would guess skin would stick to panels so hard after sloughs off from that stuff."

Emilia is too smart for how human she is, which does break the immersion a little bit, and she doesn't freak out nearly enough for what happened to her. I think her voice is too clear as well, and should've had a filter on it.

Also there was a fair bit of Map Geometry that hindered movement an awful lot, getting stuck on random unseen objects and not being able to jump properly.

And the ending is Disappointing. In Portal you get out, and are dragged back in. in Portal 2 you get out. In PS: Mel, you get out, with Virgil is genuinely sad you have to leave. Nigel's a little bitch and kills you even if you extinguish the fire.

no matter what you do in Revolution, the Spire Blows, you're critically injured and on the moon. Presumably you do survive given you see stuff happening and Hear the record Emilia left, so either there's a sequel in the works, or it's just disappointing.

So I suppose I should give it the benefit of the doubt since you get dragged back in in Portal, but that was changed after Portal 2 came out I'm pretty sure.

TL;DR

There's a lot of little things I like, a few big things I thought were interesting.

There's some stuff I would've loved to see more of, some questions unanswered as of writing this.

There are a few things I disliked, but none of it ruined the game. I had fun, and will likely play again.

Hello again! I've actually written the down some of my "Jason and the Spraypaint 'Thief'" idea tho its mostly scaffolding and i dont feel ready to share it just yet, but progress is being made!

If I may ask for your advice once more, the story has begun leaning towards Anger Management vibes (thanks for that brainrot too (affectionate)), but i dont feel great that the genesis of Jason and Jazz meeting is after Jason basically stalks Jazz in his hunt for whoever is buying his spraypaint before he can. Like, she is the one buying the paint, but the dynamic feels too onesided atm in terms of agency, but idk what Jazz would be doing that could parallel Jason.

The best Ive got is she tried to find out who bought out the yarn she was knitting with (it was Jason being petty), but I dont think she'd care as much as Jason does with the paint and it also feels too samey.

...Just had this thought while writing this, would it vibe with Jazz's character if she kept tabs on the Batfam for Danny? Like in terms of location. Ive got it that Danny dosnt want anything to do with the Batfam atm, Gothem is their turf fighting-wise and he dosnt want to encroach on that (tho he does help people in need when he comes across them), he just wants to make cool art in weird places (and maybe some ghost king stuff, not sure on that just yet) (maybe as a coping mechanism bc I do like the angst that comes from 'Danny leaves Amity bc the Fentons reactly badly to him being a halfa', tho still not sure how he gets into spraypaint yet, that feels like an important detail), so Jazz keeps tabs on their patrols for Danny so he can spraypaint without drawing their attention, and then Jazz notices Red Hood acting a bit odd and does her own investigating to make sure its not ghost business (she would know that RH has ghost vibes from Danny and his current spraypaint investigating behaviour maybe looks like a ghost obsession without context), and maybe she ends up pulling a Tim and figures out Red Hood is Jason, just due to ghost vibes instead of acrobatics.

I havent even gotten to them actually meeting in my planning yey, its just discovery eachother from afar and general thoughts of 'thats the person Im looking for, they're kinda cute' so far. Current vauge idea is they meet in a fight, tho i might be biased bc i did recently reread 'cant help falling (in love with you)' (i think i said this before, but amazing story btw, eagerly waiting for the next chapter!)

I hope this makes sense. This is the first time I've had an idea I've wanted to share with other fandom people and felt comfy enough to do so.

I see what you mean about there being a power imbalance in their meeting situation - but we have to be aware that the source material is like that. Jason is a crime fighter and a vigilante and also a very extra boy. He is petty and arrogant and sometimes he is not above using his skills for personal use.

You can make it so she knows what's going on and leads him in a wild goose chase just for funsies. Make Jazz petty as well. Make her highly competent. Make her win in his own game and boom, no more power imbalance. (Also that can be a cool "I need to know more of this woman" kind of situation.)

Another alternative, is making her think he is stalking her for unsavory purposes and beat the shit out of him.

I like what you said about Jazz being the one that keep tabs on all the vigilantes. She could have profiled them all, studied their patterns, and Tim Drake her way into memorizing their patrol routes so Danny can paint in peace.

So that's why when her new stalker starts bothering her, she is so Done(tm) that she is not afraid to gatekeep, gaslight, girlboss her way into making him stop.

How she does it? Dealer's choice.

(I'm weak to the fight approach, if it wasn't obvious (✿◡‿◡) )

(But outsmarting him could work as well.)

(Jason is into women that can kick his ass, be it physically or in smarts)

So in conclusion I think if you want to not fall into icky power imbalances and not fall into highly competent Mary Sues tropes, the sweet spot would be Jazz making the choice to take act or not, and base it on actual conflict: If she can't just beat the shit out of him, explain why. If she is not going to make a deal out of it, explain why. Make the character have agency and a choice in the matter, even if that choice is inaction.

Ahhh but towards the end tho! Where there was a line something like ‘jungkook didn’t even have a seizure this time’ in regards to namjoon’ rut!! I freaked a little and I have to mention it! Does that mean he’s had seizures during the alphas’ ruts before!? I can’t imagine how stressful that would be for the pack and poor jungkookie :(

I hope that whenever it happened, that he pack was able to take care of him and that whoever was in rut was gentle with him and able to give him space if he needed it or whatever. Cause you know, I doubt taking a knot after having a seizure would be very good AT ALL, if it was me, I’d reckon even having someone wanting me to take a knot afterwards would have me feeling shitty even if the pack was saying a clear cut no for me :( the way you write jungkook with his seizures is really comforting to me as someone with a chronic condition myself, because he’s such a strong bby despite it all ♥️

Ahhhh thank you for appreciating the slow burn ;-; honestly when I look at the wordcount of bily I have to wonder if there is a slower burn in the fandom like, we’re nearly 700k into it and they haven’t even confessed yet! It’s probably a little too slow tbh

Ahhhh I think I got a little bit in my head about the mommy Tae sections, it just felt maybe a little too niche??? If it pleases the people who still read bily after all this time then I’m glad that I put it in <3 I also gotta remember as you said that the kink list in bily is EXTENSIVE as hell, the tummy bulge stuff was probably more extreme then this.

 Yeah if we’re being honest, I think the m/c has forgotten a bit too it’s a bit sad at times, but I think she’s really gotten so comfortable that she doesn’t need to use many of her old coping mechanisms or protective mechanisms anymore- this was probably one of them like you said.

Oh yeah Jk has definitely had seizures during their ruts before, especially at the beginning. Some of Jungkook’s seizures are milder than others. It is very stressful, and I think it probably even knocked Namjoon fully out of rut the first time it happened, it would have been a large part of their conversation in the beginning of their relationships.

For a while Jungkook would take sort of an ‘emergency’ seizure medication to make seizures less likely- he did this especially during the time Yoongi was away- but Namjoon and Jungkook’s doctors decided the side effects (Jungkook’s own cycle being delayed, nausea, dizziness) outweighed the benefits. You’re right in assuming that if jk has a seizure during a rut, he’s basically out of knotting duty for at least a day after- until his usual hornyness wins out and jk makes the choice to re-join. The pack leave it up to him because it is one of his boundaries that they don’t decide when he can start doing normal things after a seizure, as long as he’s not hurting himself.

 All of the alphas know that Jungkook stands a risk of seizing during a rut. Luckily, it’s not an often occurrence and he hasn’t had one of the seizures where he needs to go to the hospital after in a long long time (typically any seizure lasting longer than 5 minutes means he needs to go to the hospital or if he has more than two in a single day. Around 80-90% of Jungkook’s seizures are 1-2 minutes long.

High on life- not funny, not novel, pretty boring, enjoyable enough to finish once you get around the end but was about so close to dropping it a few hours in.

I don’t know if it makes sense but instead of being subversive it’s superficially subversive. It’s like “look at us we’re doing stuff differently” (this might be a direct quote) for all of like 2 seconds before going back to being the blandest shit I ever played. The 2 seconds aren’t even cool.

Tunic- deserves a game award, made me pull out sticky notes to decipher secrets. But it’s a wonderful game even if you don’t engage with the secrets (but they are amazing and you should). Talked several peoples ear off about it and will maybe do it again. I don’t know if I can add any praise that hasn’t been said before me. This game rocks.

Road 96- I saw a review calling it “it’s as if a taletell game didn’t want to waste your time” and honestly (as a taletell games fan) I see what they mean.

It’s fun, it’s intriguing, having to find a new way to escape each chapter, interacting with the characters and discovering the story that is happening around you- all were interesting.

I liked how locations felt very open sometimes. Some scenes are basically cutscenes where you have very little choice. While other are more open location where you can explore backrooms and get rewarded with resources for your journey.

As a game who prides itself on being on being procedurally generated you’d think it would lend itself for replayability but second time around I was bored going through mostly same scenes as my first playthough. Even with the selecting different options they would mostly got he same way, made me wish there was more option I could do sometimes but it’s a game and can’t let me do everything ever so I don’t blame them for that.

If found- a queer story wonderfully told with an interesting mechanic, beautiful art style and music. I am the target audience for this and I enjoyed it lots.

Story hit me hard, the eraser mechanic surprisingly kept me focused while being just like wonderful way to keep the story moving, especially with how it was used to transition certain scenes.

The credits song slaps hard.

And the Ireland trivia is very cool actually.

Hi Fi rush- for the lack of a better term, it’s so fucking cringe. The most uninspired story and cast, every cliche and trope ever rolled around into one painful story. They try to use like jokes that make no sense and then they are like “isn’t it funny that it doesn’t make sense” - no it’s not

It’s as if they wanted to recreate the feel of Deadpool 2013 game only the main character is the most main insufferable anime boy character also the year is 2023 and nobody told the writers.

They had one good joke and it’s in the trailer and it’s about the writers of the game and not a ingame thing. The trailer starts with *freezeframe* “you gotta be wondering how I got myself here” and it kept going about the same level of humor.

Game mechanics wise it’s actually interesting and even fun! Chaining combos to the rhythm of a beat is actually cool (even if I kinda suck at it). I wish it was in a different game tho. Why can I guess every characters whole deal without hearing them. Why is there a character who’s just a jojo reference and the reference is look he does poses and got Japanese letter floating around? Why is the only time that I felt joy about the story in game is when the main character got hit so he shut the fuck up. At least the naming conventions of chracters is fun. If I could play this game on mute just so I didn’t need to hear the story I would but it’s a rhythm game so :/

Predestination- it was a rewatch and honestly it’s not only fun cause you can see all the hints and joke they drop early before you know the twist that would go over your head. But it’s also fun since I watched it with a bunch of people who never watched it before and seeing them trying to guess what’s going on and then figure it out in real time was a blast. Span off my favorite in joke of the day with that group.

Akira- I can see why it’s a certified classic. I don’t know why there is a man having a asthma attack as a leitmotif in the soundtrack but it slaps.

Disclosure- been told by my friend I should watch it, I watched it, I would have watched it earlier, you should watch it.

Mob psycho s1- I’m rewatching it (watched season 1 and 2 and want to remember all before I go into season 3) as a watch party with friends and I’m having a blast. Missed my boy my son.

The last of us- so far- I could talk how it reignited my love for it, and how I forgot how cool is the specific way they made zombies, and how much I missed all the creature design. But episode 3 just came out and I’m weak. Good adaptation I was skeptical before it came out (I mean a video game adaptation,, you know how it usually goes down) and also didn’t get why does it need to exist. However good show so far love it love it love it.

Blazar DX Chilsonite Sword Leaked

Ye this came out of nowhere as ever since Z, we haven't gotten additional such merch leaks so no one expected to hear anything new about blazar besides from the monthly scans

So we see Garamon at the back which is consistent with what the catalog leaks have said that scanning the Garamon Stone would allow Blazar to use the Chilsonite Sword, the working mechanism seems very similar to the Taiga Tri Blade obviously

Tho it still looks pretty cool. But on the other hand, it dosent really look like it suits the theme of Blazar which seems kinda weird

But if we pay attention to the bottom, we see that there's another bat-shaped item that could combine with the Chilsonite Sword, but the silhouette looks kinda boring as well cause it just adds a small blade to the hilt of the sword

Ngl no idea what it is because based on the catalog leaks, the next weapon is supposed to be a rainbow-coloured spear that comes from scanning a new kaiju called Niji Kagachi

Tho with the new mystery bat weapon, Blazar has 3 weapons now, which is definitely unheard of up till now since New Gen Ultras mostly have 2 (excluding movie weapon). Guess since Blazar dosent have alot of forms, Bandai is just trying to insert weapons to still try sell the same amount of merch?

I wonder if having one extra weapon necessarily means that Blazar would have 1 less form than standard New Gens, which would mean that Blazar would have at most 3 forms in-series which agrees with my predictions

But the biggest question here is, why does scanning Garamon of all things summons a weapon lmao, this seems so random to me

Tho the thing I find the most intriguing here is the fact that we're getting such leaks that haven't been a thing since pre-Z

i didn’t know we were gonna do cadaver day when i signed up for biological psychology. so it came as a surprise to me that we would get the opportunity to see a cadaver, see preserved brains in jars and even use a bone saw to cut into her skull and extract her brain and cut it into pieces and hold it and touch it and ask questions and open her eyes and open her mouth and look at her from the inside. i was so surprised at how often everyone was laughing or joking during the session, i can guess mostly because we’re trying to be engaging to other classmates or like idk everybody has their own reasons obviously. not laughing at the donor ofc, because im sure everybody knew everybody was respectful of her deep down but it’s okay to make light of the situation when the brain is making squelching sounds and the doctor is talking like a car mechanic while he’s reaching for tools and talking about the areas he’s working on. i TOTALLY thought it was going to be more solemn, but the cadaver session was more like something out of every day life. asking someone nearby for a bunch of paper towels because the preservative fluid is leaking out pretty quickly and getting on the table. using a jar of ovaries to prop her head up while creating an ?incision? in her skin to get to the skull because it was the perfect size and it’s what was available. the doctor saying stuff like “at this point you can just tear it off it’ll come apart quite easily, yeah just grab that chunk.” i dunno. stuff that’d SEEM disrespectful but in reality it’s just

what we have to do to get by. tasks. i didn’t feel anything when i used the bone saw to cut into her skull layer and i was disappointed in myself for volunteering because honestly deep down i knew i just wanted to say: i used the bone saw to cut open her skull. like wow. coming from the person that was expecting all this respect for the donor, so i recognize that selfish thought and i’ll be more thoughtful next time on what an action like that would actually mean or say about my intentions. i didn’t feel anything either when i was handling her brain, it felt like a very intense state of neutral. i felt sick to my stomach from the smell and worried if i’d have to step outside to vomit but thank god i didn’t.

by the way a brain is definitely one of the things i’ve held. it’s not fun. you don’t wanna touch it, it feels way worse than what you’d expect it’d feel like. really mushy and firm, if you’re not holding it right there’s the chance it could come apart in your hands, like when the doctor was holding the whole brain the thalamus fell haha. my prof told him “your thalamus fell. that’s not something i ever thought i would say.” tint of skin was really paleish yellowish gray and the brain was very grayish purplish sort of it’s hard to describe. i was observing for a long time on one side of the table, but when i walked to the other side of the table i noticed right away that her face was sagging much more from the new view. she looked so sickly. that’s not the right word because she was dead, lol. oh gosh. so it was a lot of that in the cadaver room with my sort-of friends i was talking to, i’ve been being more outgoing in my class which is extremely hard for me even though it’s really easy and takes little effort, just a lot of bravery.

one more thing when we were cutting the whole brain into slices (i wanted to cut a slice but i just let other people do it even tho i was closest because i recognized i already did one gruesome activity and i should let others have a turn) is i wanted to take a bite of the brain? it just reminded me of bread the way it was cut and i think i sort of shocked my classmates a little when i said that softly in the most normal, jokey way i could so i wouldn’t outcast myself for saying something so crazy! but normal. cause i mean it looked like bread slices. then id look at her face and wonder what she was like, how her life was, what she did, i even asked what her name was because i wanted to know but was reminded right away about confidentiality haha. i hope she’s ok. i know she’s dead. but i dont know what happened to her. i hate that i barely understood or remembered the terminology that was used, i could barely remember what the sagittal, coronal, and horizontal views of the brain were. i tried so hard to remember what a blood vessel does. stupid drawing during class 24/7 throughout middle school and high school.

i thought after that my life would change and i would have some kind of revelation but its invisible. yeah i feel changed but in the most numb, neutral, barely noticeable way. shes someone i will remember forever and i feel bad cause i almost feel like it was a sacrifice and she deserved better than to be cut up by one, maybe 3 community college classes and looked at of course, but i was told afterwards that the company takes the cadavers away after the students are done with them and they go to be incinerated. what the hell! but what can you expect. she deserved better. i didn’t do anything wrong but i feel sort of guilty. i’m not sure if there will be another chance for me to dissect a cadaver in courses i hope to take in the future, but if i do, i’ll be thankful. i guess that’s what i can do right now for the session i just participated in. oh god finally an answer. and it only took some typing out to do of my feelings. how neat is that?

I'm delighted to meet another Emmet simp! One of the big motivators behind 'I wish for truth' was for Emmet to not be a sad sad angsty depressed boy for once. Hence, him being a mysterious, powered up, bamf lol. I'm so very glad my story was able to provide that break from the *angst* that I myself was looking for.

I'm honoured to have someone so aware of my works! Well apparently we ran around doing nonsense for WAY longer than i thought lol. I mean i did end up staying awake waaayyy longer than either of us should have.

Anyway i wanna just talk about my general thoughts on it.

First of all: being able to follow each other around is immensely entertaining in itself. She was working on beating one of the titans and for the trip there i was just following her around watching her catch pokemon. Just existing in the same space was a lot of fun.

The picnics. They are so much fun. Being able to see each others pokemon? So cool. I only wish you could have both teams worth of pokemon out at the same time. The sandwich making mechanic with two people was much more chaotic and entertaining than i thought it would be. I can only imagine how much fun it would be with 4 people. We made some truly horrible culinary disasters together.

Taking pictures together was also so much more fun than i thought it would be. The poses you can do are adorable and we spent probably like a good hour in total just messing around with it at various points.

Anyway, here are some highlights from the nonsense we got up to that i just want to share:

Within minutes of starting the call but before i joined her game she found a shiny rockruff!! We went thru a lot of potential names(i suggested ones like Miku or Cascade) she ended up getting name Akari. She was later evolved into a midday form lycanroc while we were playing

At one point in the picnics we encountered a harmless bug where the pokemon would still be in their sleeping animations, but would be gliding around on the ground and hopping as if they were awake. It was hilarious.

We decided to have a couple battles against each other(we set everyones levels to 50, but my pokemon were fully evolved and had better moves than hers still) I won the first one pretty well just because my eelektross was a pretty good matchup against half her team(duck starter middle evo, corvisquire, and a houndoom). So we fought again with me not using it. I still won but it was pretty close. I had never really done battles against another player before now and it was REALLY fun.

At one point she decided she wanted to change her picture to a shot of her shiny lycanroc. But that things had zoomies to the max. I was on top of the pokecenter type thing just watching it all unfold and it was very entertaining. She kept pulling out her camera only for Akari to take off running circles around her at the speed of light.

We encountered another harmless bug where for whatever reason our facial expressions got stuck. Hers was just the nuetral one but for some reason my character was stuck looking like she was about to cry. It was kinda hilarious with the various poses.

We went on a shopping spree of me dragging her around to different cities so she could get new clothes. I spent probably 100k in total on clothes i definitely did not need but wanted anyway.

Here are some things i was disappointed/confused by tho:

The school still looks the same on my end, even tho i was in her world which was Scarlet. It makes sense, because otherwise i couldn't go in and do my usual things but i still found it kinda of funny. You also can't see each other while in the school.

Theres no way to spectate important fights. While she was fighting the titan it was like she just didnt exist on my end.

I would have liked a mechanic where you can do double battles against npcs or wild pokemon or something together. I think it would just be fun. I guess the tera raids kind of fulfill that? idk

For me personally its very hard to see the other players icon on the map. Its there, but its VERY easy to miss with how large the map is. I wish it was a little easier to see or differentiated itself in some way.

Fëanorian Quenya

Hey friends! Do you like elves? Do you like the Silmarillion? Do you like Fëanor and co? And most of all, do you like spending hours thinking about minor details pertaining to made-up languages??? If so, boy do I have a treat for you! Let’s delve into the weird world of Fëanorian Quenya and explore some history and mechanics of why they talk Like That.

I’ve seen a lot of posts joking about the Fëanorian lisp, which is about as funny as a joke about a speech impediment can be. 👍 It’s important to understand, though, that this IS a joke. No, they didn’t really speak with a lisp. Yes, they did pronounce some S sounds as TH. That’s the critical disclaimer here: SOME. It’s not a blanket pronunciation. There’s a lot of background research that goes into determining which words would be pronounced with S and which would be TH, and that’s what we’re going to look at.

So if this is something you’ve come across in fandom and you’re not totally sure on the details, or if you ARE sure and just want some more in-depth info, read on.

The stuff probably everybody knows already

For anyone who’s been hanging around the Fëanorian corner of the Silm fandom for more than three minutes, there’s about a 100% chance you’ve heard of Fëanor’s penchant for retaining an archaic TH pronunciation after the majority of the Noldor went ahead and started pronouncing this sound as S instead. You may also know that this sound is represented by the letter thorn (Þ) in HoME, but since thorn doesn’t exist in modern English orthography and it’s a pain to keep typing the ALT code, I’m sticking to TH here. Anyway, all this was due to the fact that Fëanor was a huge mama’s boy, and his mom Míriel Therindë (later called Serindë, which made Fëanor want to punch walls and possibly also fellow elves) was an outlier who retained the TH after it fell out of use. Her son Fëanor, in turn, kept this up to honor her. Now, whether or not he would have bothered if this sound hadn’t literally been a critical part of her name is debatable, but that debate is outside the scope of this essay.

Fëanor continued to use the TH pronunciation until his death, and required his sons to use it as well. Finwë, however, switched over to S after the death of Míriel and before his marriage to Indis. Fëanor, reasonable and level-headed as he was, took this as a personal insult and decided that anybody who rejected TH likewise rejected him. So presumably, his loyal followers would have obeyed his totally reasonable demands not to give in to the seductive S-shift.

Why tho

Why did the Noldor decide to alter their pronunciation from TH to S? Great question. Nobody really knows. For the hell of it? IDK. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But the important thing to understand is that elves, and especially Noldor, were really committed to making sure their language sounds cool. This is why it changed so much and so comparatively quickly for an immortal population: they were actively invested in changing it. They liked inventing new words and exploring new sounds and messing around with grammar.

So at some point some influential Noldo might have been like, hey y’all, let’s stop saying TH and say S instead! And everyone (except Míriel I guess, who was known for her elegant manner of speech and didn’t want to muck that up by changing pronunciation of a whole letter) was like, whoa, capital idea my good egg. And they went with it. Previous ideas along these lines included ‘hey y’all, let’s stop saying KH and say H instead’ and ‘hey y’all, let’s stop saying Z and say R instead’, and those went over swimmingly. Nobody could have foreseen the problem this TH to S business would cause.

Now here’s a fun fact. There was another change to Noldorin pronunciation that happened AFTER Fëanor’s birth, that he himself was involved in. This one was all about bilabial to labiodental F. And those sure are some words, so if you don’t know what I’m talking about (I don’t blame you), BILABIAL is a more whispery sound that happens when you say F using only air passing through your pursed lips, and LABIODENTAL is when you say F with your top teeth touching your bottom lip. Going forward I’m going to use PH to represent the bilabial sound, and F for the labiodental.

So F got on the radar of the Noldor via the Teleri, who used this sound in their language. And ol’ Fëanor figured it would be awesome to incorporate it into Quenya because he thought the PH sounded too close to HW, and the two were getting confused by lazy speakers. Why did he care? Because of his dad’s name and his own, of course. If people started to get lazy in their pronunciation, we’d end up with Hwinwë and Hwëanáro, which would be terrible and stupid and unacceptable. He accused the Vanyar of leaning down that road, and he wanted to stop that kind of shift before it happened to the Noldor. How to do that? Why, by instigating a different shift from traditional Noldorin PH to Telerin F!

“Hey y’all, let’s stop saying PH and say F instead!”

“Whoa, capital idea my good egg.”

Moral of the story: Fëanor is only concerned with Quenya pronunciation insofar as it affects his own name and the names of family members he likes. He does not care whether it’s staying the same or moving to a new sound so long as it personally makes him feel good and his name sound cool. Therefore the true way to piss him off would be to call him Curuhwinwë Hwëanáro, son of Serindë.

Okay so here’s how it works

Now that history is out of the way, let’s get back to how TH was used by the Fëanorians. As I mentioned earlier, TH wasn’t a blanket pronunciation. It all depended on the original form of the word, and whether the root had a TH or an S. And some very similar-sounding words come from different roots, so this can get tricky. A great resource that’ll give you this information is Eldamo: Quenya words where the S was originally TH are marked out with the Þ (thorn) symbol in the wordlist.

Some examples:

Súlë (spirit, breath) comes from the root THŪ, which means it would be pronounced with a TH. Silma (white crystal) comes from the root SIL, so it and related words like Silmaril would be pronounced with an S. No Fëanorian would say Thilmaril. Isil (moon), however, is a similar-sounding word that comes from a different root: THIL. Olos (mass of flowers) comes from the word LOTH, but: Olos (dream) comes from the root LOS. Fëanorian pronunciation would immediately differentiate between these two words.

While Fëanorians may have retained the distinct pronunciation of TH vs S, other Noldor can still differentiate between original S and S-that-used-to-be-TH in their writing. There are specific tengwar to use depending on the word’s original form. Silmë (the one that looks like a 6) is used for original S, while súlë (or thúlë, the one that looks like an h) is used for original TH.

Which other elves used this sound in their speech?

Fandom has really latched on to this TH as a Fëanorian thing, but it wasn’t that exclusively. The TH sound was actually ubiquitous in other elven languages, and in Valinor, only the Noldor dropped it. It was still used in Telerin and in Vanyarin Quendya. The Vanyar retained the TH not because of anything to do with Míriel, but just because they were a little more conservative and their language didn’t pick up on all the changes that the Noldor made. They also noped out of the Z to R shift the Noldor initiated, opting to keep the Z around.

When Indis married Finwë, she stopped using the normal Vanyarin TH and switched over to S as a gesture of loyalty to him and his people. Finarfin, however, out of love for the Vanyar and Teleri, switched BACK to TH. I like to think about how much it would have annoyed Fëanor that his snot-nosed kid brother was speaking correctly, but for the wrong reason. Go down one more generation, and Galadriel very specifically did not use TH. But this time it was absolutely a choice made as a glaring middle finger to Fëanor.

What this means for your fanfic or whatever

The big takeaway here: you can’t just have Fëanorians replace every S with TH and call it a day.

If you’re inventing names for your Fëanorian OCs or coming up with phrases for them to say, it’s important to look into the history of all Quenya S-words you end up using to determine if they should be S or TH. If Fëanor got mad about somebody saying Serindë instead of Therindë, he’d get equally mad about somebody saying Thilmaril instead of Silmaril and assume they were mocking him. Remember: this is a dude with no chill. (On the other hand, if you WANT somebody to be mocking Fëanor, Galadriel would 100% do this because she has an equally negligible amount of chill.)

It’s also important to note that the TH isn’t a true shibboleth, since pretty much all elves EXCEPT the non-Fëanorian Noldor use it. And even the S-preferring Noldor would still be able to pronounce the TH. Those who went into exile would go on to use it commonly in Sindarin, and those who remained in Valinor would still encounter it among the Vanyar and Teleri. So if you’re writing a scene where somebody has to pronounce a TH word to prove their loyalty… yeah, everyone can pass this test. And in the opposite direction, you can’t use TH to prove somebody’s an evil Fëanorian, either. They might just be Vanyarin or something. Or, like. Really Old.

Would the sons (and followers) of Fëanor keep using TH after his death? Oh hell yeah. This is an entire family unfamiliar with the concept of not dying on hills. They will keep using it unto the ending of the world. Actually, with Sindarin becoming the common language of Middle-earth from the First Age, probably not a lot of change happened in exilic Quenya. It became a lore language: a piece of living history. It would have been preserved as it was when the original speakers left Valinor.

(And then, thousands of years later, Galadriel finally returns home to Tirion like, Long have mine eyes awaited this most blissful of sights, and ne’er hath my sprit soared with such grace, for I am returned! And all the Amanyar Noldor stare at her like, whatchu bangin on bout, eh? Because they had nothing better to do in the peace of Valinor than push Quenya to brave and frankly questionable new horizons.)

Anyway, there you go: a somewhat brief history of Fëanorian Quenya. I hope you found this informative and useful, or at the very least not boring. Obvs this is super condensed and, uh, not particularly scholarly, but I promise I know what I’m talking about. I have a university degree! (Not in anything even remotely related to what’s written above, but I hardly see how that’s relevant. It’s still a DEGREE.)

Streamer!Scaramouche AU

i feel like he’d be one of the biggest streamers on his platform- probably one of those that everyone has heard of even if they’re not into watching livestreams and all

but between those who do know who he is, they either love him or hate him. no in-between

it’s kind of understandable because his attitude is not suited/can be handled by anyone

he’s brutally honest even when his opinion may be seen as rude (to him he’s just saying the truth so he doesn’t mind if people get offended)

of course he doesn’t try to be rude on purpose but i mean it as in he’ll say what he thinks

imagine he’s playing a game and he doesn’t like a certain mechanic, or he isn’t enjoying the story;

he won’t say the game is bad but he’ll openly say he doesn’t like it/it’s not for him. it makes him seem strict but tbh he’s not that hard to please and even when he complains about one or two things he still enjoys the game

he usually gives every game a chance even when from what he’s seen it doesn’t sound like a game he’ll like. if he turns out to be right he just won’t play it again and if he’s wrong he’s a little too prideful to admit he spoke a little too fast but in the end he will admit the game is good or he’s having fun

probably the kind that just knows so much about all games and all the creators and all the game-making engines and is up to date with every single news of everything video-game + streaming-related,,, how does he do it, i don’t know,,,,

and also since he’s so popular he probably gets packages from game developers with limited edition stuff or merch from different games soooo often

and he placed the ones from his favorite games in his setup room and it looks INCREDIBLE he has so much stuff

he did a room tour stream once talking about all he has, where he got everything, from his monitor to every complement of his computer and like,,,,, the cost of his setup,,,,,,, some people already know they’ll never be able to afford that in their entire life

and he already had a great setup before he even became big as a streamer so people can already guess he’s fairly rich 

also i feel like he would have started his career as a streamer without using a facecam and even like that, he already managed to get very popular because of his professional commentary of game dynamics/playability + you can tell that he’s passionate about this and also he’s very funny without even trying??

he says some stuff so casually that he doesn’t realise how funny it is

probs showed his face after he hit a very important milestone

he never considered showing his face that important but he understood why people would want to see his reactions when playing games (even tho he warned them he’s not the most expressive/dramatique person in the world and they know by now) and would want to put a face to the person who entertains them so much with his streams

and when he does show his face people go absolutely cRAZY BECAUSE he is crazy good looking (if you don’t think he’s good looking i’m sorry for your eyesight. jk i’m sorry in general i just really love him)

some people who didn’t watch his streams will even check them out because of that but literally if you come for the visuals only you won’t stay for long because as i said not anyone can handle his personality

if he sees people being superficial about him too much instead of paying attention to what’s happening in the stream, he will immediately turn the subs mode on in the chat (if he didn’t have it on already)

being rude, being disrespectful/saying discriminating stuff or anything of that sort won’t be tolerated and anyone who does it will be banned instantly

without even interrupting what he was saying before he saw the comment, he’ll just type the ban to whoever said that and go on

and his mods do the exact same. they are just as strict as him

if it ever got too much of course he wouldn’t be afraid to speak up about it and tell his chat to stop that behaviour or else, as they should already know, he won’t be afraid of banning them even if they’ve been subscribed for months or years

why do i feel like he has a super organised chat— as in instead of spamming 5 emotes per comment they all send just one and it looks so tidy and perfect

literally other streamers would be jealous of how not-messy his chat is even when he has thousands and thousands and thousands of viewers all the time

also i have this idea that maybe any of his fans would have designed him as a genshin character (which would be the design of the scaramouche we know (?))

and the little pop-ups (i don’t know the name in english rIP) thingies that show up to notify when someone subscribed or donated would be lil chibi art of that design

it’d be really cool

and since i also doodled what a stream of his could look like (i’ll show it in the future when i’m done!!) i thought that way it’d be more recognisable that the streamer is scaramouche

99% of the people who have seen him irl found him too intimidating to go ask him for a picture or tell him anything

he’s not a huge fan of taking pictures anyway + is more on the introverted/reserved side but he wouldn’t mind if someone went up to him (if he’s not busy with something) to tell him something or say they enjoy his streams

i feel like in a couple occasions he would have played a game with some subscribers and he’d like to tease them speaking with his usual tone and face (in case they’re watching the stream as they talk) so they think he’s serious

“did you watch my 12 hour stream the other day?”  -scaramouche

“ah,,,, i-” -the sub

“think well of what you’re going to answer.” -scaramouche

“i-i couldn’t watch the whole thing,,,” -the sub

“ah, is that so…?” -scaramouche 

he’ll pretend to sound disappointed but at one point he just can’t help but smirk and hold in a chuckle before telling them he’s not serious

(he literally doesn’t know how the hell he survived that stream himself because he isn’t one to stream for that long)

i feel like deep inside people who know him would know he wouldn’t say such things seriously/wouldn’t be disappointed in anyone for not watching every single minute of his streams or not even all his streams

but he says all that so seriously that it’s,,, intimidating and they’re lowkey like “god but what if he’s not joking-”

he’d play games with the other streamers sometimes but i feel like most of the type he’d play more single-player games

it’d be so funny if he plays among us with others and for example one of those others it’s childe

both of them would always be suspecting of the other first/bickering, especially scaramouche

and if one game turns out they’re both the impostors… people would know right away

like, if any of them tried to defend the other, everyone else would be like “!?! what is this? scaramouche and childe defending each other? scary”

they’d vote one of them (maybe scaramouche) out because they started guessing + saying proof of how both of them could be the impostors (but the biggest proof is them not coming for each other’s throats sNKJFNGKJS)

scaramouche would have to resist the urge to S C R E A M

needless to say he doesn’t like when he has to be impostor with childe

and unfortunately for him, fate makes it happen considerably often

i feel like at least one time scaramouche would kill next to childe and then report it and literally blame childe

and childe would be like ?!?!?!?!?? WHAT- NO- (struggles bc his brain instinct is to say ‘it was you!’ but they’re both the impostors??? how-)

and then they’d eject childe,,, and then people wouldn’t suspect of scaramouche for most of the game because ? why would he- blame his partner---

well he did it with no regrets and at the end when they all found out they found it very funny (except for childe, but even he ended up laughing in the end because what a mean strategy sjkfhdsgkj)

i have this feeling that even though they bicker so much and for any strangers it’d seem like they hate each other, when scaramouche does play online games, many times it’d be with childe?

ik they aren’t supposed to get along but for the sake of it being a modern au i don’t want bad vibes between any of the characters pls-

and everyone enjoys their dynamic and those streams always get a ton of viewers sjfhdsgkj and i’m sure both their chats would be good friends (most likely one’s fans would also be a fan of the other too)

very very very rarely (because he prefers just playing and talking while playing) he’d do streams where he doesn’t play anything but just talks with the chat, watches videos that they send him, looks at the fanart they make, just talks about games,,,,

it’d be super chill and the perfect streams for people to be doing homework/work/play games/draw or do basically anything while they listen to his stream in the background

he’d also be answering some of people’s questions about him or about his favorite games, or if he’s playing this new game that came out earlier this week,,,

“will you play ‘it takes two’ with childe?” -someone in the chat

“absolutely not. i won’t play a co-op game with him”

not even 5 days later, tweet from childe saying “streaming in 30 minutes! Scaramouche and I will be playing It Takes Two on my ch---”

anyways this will be all!! (for now?) i obviously knew genshin before this but, yesterday i could finally start playing it myself! so i feel like if not now, soon i will also write headcanons of him playing genshin! i don’t take requests but if you guys have any ideas or anything you want to say about this AU, send me an ask!! i’d love to talk about this and about genshin in general!
