GOJO SATORU ‧₊˚✩彡.

☆ Now, Gojo is as straightforward as it gets with relationships.

☆ When Gojo first realized he had a thing for you, he was all for it! I mean, what’s not to like about you?

☆ He obviously forgot how dense you are. Any expression of love towards you was fruitless, it was like you didn’t give another thought.

☆ He would wrap a hand around your waist, call you affectionate nicknames, show you off to a very disgusted and uninterested Yuuji and Nobara. Rarely did Megumi join in, he was probably off doing his own thing.

☆ You just thought he was being friendly.

☆ He finds your density kind of enduring, often finding himself studying you, just to make sure no one’s hurting you.

☆ Gojo felt like some sort of guardian angel looking after you 24/7, but he doesn’t mind watching you.

☆ I feel like sometimes he just straight up says, “I like you.” you chalk it up as some sort of... twisted joke. And he’s getting frustrated at this point.

☆ When you’re off campus, off doing your own thing, he discusses with Shoko, asking her what his best chances are.

☆ Gojo absolutely follows every advice Shoko gives him, even if it’s stupid, because honestly he hasn’t got any experience with a girl as dumb as you. He’s tried everything at this point!

☆ When you and Gojo are doing your own thing, alone, he leans in real close to you, and it takes everything in him to not kiss your lips. That’s what Shoko thinks might work, near physical contact was enough of a sign to say, “Hey! I like you.”

☆ Shoko always says that you probably won’t realize any approach other then a direct one, and this was direct enough right?

☆ This piece of advice he particularly ignores, though. He doesn’t go all the way with the advice, he’s scared of ruining the friendship, no matter what Shoko says.

☆ He values you as a friend so deeply, you always seem to forget that he’s the most powerful, and he enjoys the normal relationship between the two of you.

☆ Gojo never, ever wants to lose that. He’d rather call you pumpkin then the rest of his life, while you obliviously stared back, then call you another friendship gone haywire.

☆ So you two just look at each other, all silent. You’re obviously curious why he’s staring at you with a starving pair of eyes, but eventually he laughs it off and hands you his favorite candy that he always kept in his pocket.

☆ He hands you your favorite flavor, because he always remembers it.

☆ You walk away, chewing and rolling the candy around on your tongue, and he wishes he could taste how your mouth tastes afterward.

MEGUMI FUSHIGURO ‧₊˚✩彡.

☆ Poor Megumi over here, he’s basically a tsundere.

☆ Megumi hate’s confrontation, so he does EVERYTHING in his power so he doesn’t have to tell you directly.

☆ Nonetheless, he has a horribly bad crush on you. He also has trouble hiding it.

☆ Thing is, he doesn’t want to fuck up the friendship. After all, he was your “study partner”.

☆ You’d often find yourself in his room, analyzing old Jujutsu writings for Gojo’s homework assignments. (Why the guy assigned homework, you have no idea.)

☆ Megumi was silent. He didn’t like speaking unless being spoken to. This changed with you.

☆ While you’re writing or doodling in your journal, he sneaks glances at you.

☆ Once in a while, he’ll realize you’re writing a word incorrectly.

☆ Instead of taking an eraser like any normal person does, Megumi insists that he would help you write out the words

☆ Holding your hand, he’d guide you, muttering the letters under his breath.

☆ He wishes he could hold your hand forever, it’s warm compared to his cold ones, and then his mind wanders.

☆ Wondering just how warm your cuddles get.

☆ Blushing ferociously now, he looks down at the paper, and you look at him, confused as to why he stopped writing.

☆ He’s incredibly stiff, he doesn’t wanna think about that while you’re right in front of him. You tap him a few times, and he jolts back to Earth.

☆ You ask him what he was doing, but he doesn’t reply, instead stroking your hand’s skin and grumbling words you couldn’t understand.

☆ You sit there, maybe he has anxiety, that’s why he’s stroking you like a therapy cat.

☆ Megumi’s weighing out the positives and negatives of asking you out right this second, but his anxiety prevents him. He touches your skin subconsciously.

☆ Negatives always seem to win though, he doesn’t wanna risk losing his friend. He turns back to look at your face once more, fluttering his long eyelashes, taking a deep breath in, and continuing the assignment.

☆ “Next time” is all that echoes in the back of his mind.

☆ You just think it’s a bit weird, to be honest. Why does he look at you that way?

☆ You just think that he has his moments of too intensely thinking.

ITADORI YUUJI ‧₊˚✩彡.

☆Like you, Yuuji’s also dense. ☆ Unlike you, he has the power and the courage of asking Gojo what these feelings were. ☆ “Yuuji-kun, have you ever felt love for someone special before?” ☆ “No, what’s that, Gojo-senpai?” ☆ “That’s the feeling you get around (Y/N). You think she’s cute, I bet that.” ☆ That’s how the bastard found out he had a crush on you, through his equally as stupid teacher. ☆ This clearly spelled out disaster. ☆ Whenever you and Yuuji went out on missions, Yuuji would offer to cover for your role in the mission as well, claiming that you needed a break. ☆ “Why?” you’d ask ☆ “Because, I like you.” ☆ “Wow, Itadori-kun! You’re really nice!” you say, a smile on your lips, “Honestly though that’s a lot of work on your shoulders, I think I’ll-” ☆ He would stop you in his tracks, and kind of look at you. ☆ Yuuji thinks your work ethic is precious, and he deeply admires that. ☆ He also thinks your density is really cute, but he worries that he’s not masculine enough for you. ☆ This is why he tries to appear more, “macho” as he says it, around you ☆ But inside, he’s soft, and soft for you only. ☆ Despite his usual friendly and carefree personality, he would punt someone into the horizon if they looked at you different. He was overprotective that way. ☆ But you never truly got the hint, and he always was upset by this, in which Gojo would comfort him, and the cycle would restart. ☆ But here’s the problem: he doesn’t want to ruin the relationship. As much as he trusts Gojo, nothing was showing out of his obvious flirting, and eventually his confidence wore out. ☆ Sometimes he still tries talking to you in that flirty manner, but you just tilt your head and kinda go, “What?” ☆ Giving you a big, reassuring grin, he gives you a thumbs up. ☆ He sighs as he does so, telling you, “Nevermind.” and talks about something else. ☆ Deep down, he’s cursing himself out, he thinks it’s all his fault and not you just being stupid.

My brainrots of ideas and I’m also bored so here. Feedback is welcomed as always, if this does well I’ll continue w/ more HC’s/scenarios ty ty smooch smooches 💛🤎🤍

Description: fem!reader, she/her, scenarios, HC’s, hints/mentions of abuse/manipulation, overall nothing too graphic, stinky grammar, spoilers!

❂ Background: Virulent as the other majoring clans, the (l/n) estate had planned to use the reader as a weapon to threaten those that oppose the clan, believing they could use her cursed power for anything lethal and brute force. Somehow, fate gives reader another path as she was adopted by Gojo, to become a first year of Tokyo Tech.

❂ Default Fighting Style: Katana, versatile cursed technique(s) + cursed energy w/ or w/o sword, reverse curse technique.

❂ Grade Status: Special Grade or Nearly: she’d been pushed to the brink of working and improving by her clan to become the best - resulting in not only her personality but her efforts.

❂ Tokyo Student (because I like Tokyo Tech better no hard feelings I love Kyoto but I’m biased-).

❂ First Impressions: Probably doesn’t open up at the moment meeting her peers considering that her clan had been secluding her from the outside world (with only a couple short-lived escapism's as a child), comes off distant and stoic at first, but really is awkward has best intentions. Quite expressive after getting comfortable.

Best Traits

❂ The Most Forthright: Most of the characters don’t express into words how they feel, at least at the moment - reader naturally voices her thoughts and opinions, a bit more blunt than the others. Honest and transparent to her closest friends because she trusts and cares for them - honesty is her kindness and respect she has for them, as well as she would presume to be truthful mutually. She had to become so sincere, given that her clan had been so secretive and devious, she despised that - resulting from her characteristic.

❂ Leadership: After leaving the clan, reader would more likely gain a consciousness of leadership considering she’s chosen her own path differing from those who sought out for her (more for themselves - f*ck the clan) a future dimmer. Uses what the clan had taught her to mold the skills of herself but more importantly, reader’s loved ones. Most go for her advice, especially in training since she knows a thing or two about (a lot more than two, duh).

❂ Unwavering Trust: If Yuuji says he can do it, she’ll believe him. Would base it more on fact and evidence to exceed her predictions first, but overall has unyielding confidence in those she confides in. Has full-fledge faith Megumi will let go of whatever insecurities he has to unleash his full potential. From one girl to another, never doubts Nobara’s skills as a strong countryside woman 🤝 ladies supporting ladies~

❂ Learner at Heart: Wants to learn anything to be better at, (especially social cues, will need the most learning out of that 🤭) whatever she knows she’ll use as an advantage.

Flawed Traits

❂ Blunt: Considering she’s the most straightforward, her bluntness can sting - might hurt someone’s feelings by accident lmao, she means well and good, anyone that gets easily irritable will have not so fun time with her.

❂ Expectations: Reader just has high expectations for the ones she cares about. Training with the others, she may put them through hell just to see an ounce of improvement. Ironic it is since the (l/n) clan had expected the most out of her only to deliver more than what she could have for herself. The only difference is: she wants her friends to have the benefits, not herself. She’ll have to reconsider her standards.

❂ Too Selfless: Because she cares more about the people around her, reader can forget to tend to her own needs. Maybe she picked the bad habit up from her upsetting past, with no one truly caring for her. Will definitely get scolded by Nobara and Megumi about it. Encouraged by Yuuji to take care of herself more often.

❂ Kinda Dumb, Like Really: Reader may not pick up social cues like flirting and what-not at first. Tips and help provided by yours truly, Nobara and Yuuji (how would he know, girls don’t like him apparently 😔). THEY’RE GONNA PULL A FORMATION A, B, & C ON HER, BUT WILL SHE EVEN KNOW???

❂ Lowkey Crazy: Wouldn’t be a sorceress if she wasn’t crazy. And not the manic crazy, the silence is louder than words crazy. Yenno, that type beat.

Overall: No filtered Small Brain, Jujutsu Sorceress Big Brain and 💪, Heart Softer Than a Puppy.

Relationships W/ the Others

❂ Yuuji Protection Team Leader: after meeting the boy many refer as the vessel of the deadliest king of curses, she had to find out herself what he was like… which he is nothing like the others had said about him. “You’re a Dandelion” she would tell Yuuji upon meeting him after a while. The strawberry haired boy would be a bit perplexed at what she had said, but would ultimately see it as compliment! If he’s not complaining, then neither is she. The duo, would have conversations about anything and everything. Anyone that comes across them conversing will have no idea what they’re talking about. But they always seem like they’re having an interesting talk! Yuuji will definitely want to protect (y/n) since he considers, but he lacks tact, and she’ll have no problem saving his behind.

❂ Shikigami Enthusiast: A bit concerned at the sight of the shadowed figured animals at first. Never seeing or even having pets at the (l/n) estate, (y/n) would be a bit curious at Fushiguro’s summonings. “You’ll get used to it..” he’d murmur. Even if reader is somewhat agitated about whether it’s the rabbits or the towering Nue, he silently coaxes the sorceress. Eventually warms up to them (he probably had to summon them more often for her to feel comfortable to be around). Megumi will occasionally release the bunnies if reader is stoked enough. Will always summon black and white (rip 🥺) dogs. It’s nice to know someone else is also fond of his shikigami. Lowkey he’s taking pride in reader’s interests. Also lowkey interested in what kind of people are the (l/n) clan, your powers, and how (y/n) has remained composed, from the outside, considering their line of work.

❂ Kugisaki’s Confidant: “We have some work to do..” is something the straw-doll user would say to (y/n) whenever she hadn’t picked up something. Will give fashion advice, get’s mani' and petit' w/. As (y/n) gives curse fighting advice, Nobara will freely give love advice, how to deal with a b* named Mai, fashion advice - the copper-haired girl is happy enough that her friend listens and takes her tips seriously. Will gut someone like a fish if anyone were to say or even look wrong at her new friend. Nobara will vent (complaint mostly) to (y/n), it’s nice to be heard while giving thoughtful ideas, even if she’s asking more related questions, Kugisaki will happily oblige to answer. Eventually, it becomes a habit that (y/n) will ask the other female sorcerer if she wants to go to the city - most of the time it’s to take a break from the work otherwise it’ll be the most random times. Give Nobara sometime, and she’s ready to go! She likes reader’s spontaneity. Anytime with (y/n), is a fun time yay.

❂ Junpei Protection Team Advocate: If you were reading the manga chapter blindfolded, or stared at the episode eyes closed, you would know that Junpei Yoshino is DEAD :( ! But for the sake of serotonin, he’s alive and protected by Yuuji and (y/n). Reader would want the newer sorcerer to work with her more so that he can fight for himself. Gives Junpei a reason to believe he can still be happy making as many friends while learning more about himself from the eyes of reader.

❂ Sword Spars: Yuuta and (y/n) first meeting would be nice (unless Rika says otherwise). They have interests in Katana and all types of swords. He respects her a lot despite being older than reader. Yuuta is just a nice guy, what’s more to say? “Are you really related to Gojo” reader will only ponder out loud to Yuuta, considering the biggest contrasts of them both are quite evident.

❂ Zenin-Senpai's Favorite: Maki wouldn’t admit it, but (y/n) is probably her favorite first year next to Nobara. She cannot only relate to her younger peer but admires her naturally strong will. Definitely teases her just to get a reaction. But ultimately has confidence in the younger’s skill. Has the most fun with training since (y/n) is a challenge to take!

❂ Toge & Panda & Their Pupil: Teach her all the bad humor in the world. Like trash, memes will be the hardest thing for reader to understand. They find it funny that she won’t understand fully at first, not in a condescending way but utterly because it’s her willingness to want to know. Toge shows her all the YouTube videos he watches, Panda teaches her all the things about panda’s and why’re they’re ultimately the best species on the planet. The black and white fur-ball also gives great advice on the opponents they will need to fight in the tourneys. Actually, bet Toge and Panda do the most gossip, about EVERYONE. “What’s said in the circle, stays in the circle!” The speech user and tall fluff will get scolded harshly (gets beaten up for it too oops) by Maki and Nobara. Develops sarcasm because of the troublesome duo. Le gasp.

❂ Gojo Sucks: Unlike our helpful group of friends, Satoru would say things with double meaning just to confuse reader. She knows he does it on purpose. She doesn’t know what he references most of the time. Will ask questions to then just get teased more and as the menacing teacher will change the subject. Earns him a pour :c what the hell just tell her what you meant man. Just doesn't find him funny at all. She'll only white lie about something when she says she doesn't have concerns for him, to then be honest again. "Well, I'm just worried since you're pretty weak and all. You just don't seem like a person who would get the job done," and genuinely doesn't believe Gojo is the strongest. And unfortunately for (y/n), will get formation b’d on by him a lot of the time and then understands how embarrassing it can really get from there. Gojo Satoru is one hell of a father figure, that’s for sure.

Request: Can i request a sukuna x curse reader headcannon where you know each other since years ago?? You somehow just attach yourself to him and sukuna just lets you tag along? Then you meet again in present time. Bonus if you add the others reaction 😊 thank you!! ☺️☺️

Author Note: I am so sorry for the lateness. I wrote a lot got very involved in writing this headcanons. If you wish another part to this, I wouldn’t mind doing it just send in with idea of what could the second part be about.

Please excuse any grammar or spelling. I am going based on the anime.

Past!

You were his second hand and lover all those years ago.

In the beginning, you were such a pain in his ass since you were a newbie cursed spirit low-class grade learning everything about the universe. You were following him around like a child and praised him for being the best.

But over time. You were quickly evolving stronger and stronger to the point that Sukuna on his toes.

Two of you had respect for each other and worked in harmony.

Sukuna liked that you weren’t pushed over or followed his every order. You are willing to stand your ground even though he can eat off your head if he wanted to.

You wanted to know his reasoning behind each of his orders. You preferred to know what you are getting yourself into.

He may act annoyed but he was truly intrigued with your behavior.

You earn the title of his secondhand due to the sights of Sukuna and yourself being always together

The only time the two got separated which was rare already as it is

You barely make it alive, but unable to feel his presence at all only meaning. He was either dead or sealed away.

It only brought you to be consumed with pure hatred and pure anger taking out the remain sorcerers that fighting you.

You did what you could do was run away but made sure to have your name out of any sorcerer’s mouths.

Present time!

Sukuna could only hear and see whatever Yuuji was at.

He only knows you might be around even centuries later and knew the chance of you being alive are very high due to hearing the legend you made yourself.

You make every sorcerer unable to speak your name without them either dying or crucially injured hours later from pronouncing your name. There is always someone who doesn’t believe the legend to only be shaken upon seeing your face on their near-death experience.

They have to spend the first years on another death mission which includes a special grade.

Another attempt to get rid of Sukuna Vessel, Yuuji Itadori while Gojo was on an overseas mission.

Nobara was barely breathing on the ground due to poison invading her lungs.

Megumi was bare managing on focusing to keep his shikigami from disappearing.

Yuuji was the only one who hasn’t been affected by the deadly poison, however, has physical wounds throughout his body. It was clear that the cursed spirit was intelligent seeing he wasn’t affected by their cursed technique.

Yuuji accidentally did say your name out loud prior to the mission and forgot about the curse of saying their name. He was reading about her legend more in detail provided by his teacher. He wanted to know more about them since he felt Sukuna acting weird since Sukuna doesn’t want to answer his questions.

The moment when Yuuji’s head was about to be cut off, his own shadow shoot up sink he surprising him sinking onto the ground before his shadow moved to only spit him out to see he was now beside Megumi and Nobara.

He could feel the energy has changed and the pressure of the new presence cursed spirit who was way stronger than all the spirits that they have encountered. Sukuna was now demanding to switch due to feeling similar energy.

“Hasn’t anyone told you to never fight children?” A soft gentle soothing voice, a beautiful woman was wearing professional clothing.

With a snap of her fingers, shadows from all every direction attacked and sliced the cursed spirit who attempted to run away in pieces without hesitation

Yuuji was on defense on switching until he threatens his friend’s lives and his are gonna be dead.

A kiss on his forehead startled him to feel a shock of energy running through his veins feeling all his wounds closing up and bruises disappearing.

“You consider yourself very lucky that you are students of the famous Gojo Satoru and Sukuna Vessel.”

Yuuji was very unease about how calm she was and had a killing intention a moment ago.

“Why?”

“Well one, you have my husband inside of you. Two, I owed your teacher a favor. Now its paid. You can tell them what you saw but Do not mention anything about me and Gojo even knowing each other. It’s the safety of your teacher and your safety.” You move your finger on saying each condition before moving to his injured friends.

A touch on the unconscious bodies on their forehead by your index finger and middle finger spending positive energy through them and taking the poison from their lungs. Both students woke up and coughing their lungs out to be split out the poison out of their lungs.

“Get all that poison out of from lungs, you guys should be okay now.” You loudly said while walking away.

You were about to sink into your own shadow, until Sukuna’s mouth appeared on Yuuji’s mouth calling you out. You didn’t even look eye to eye with him.

“Spoiled Brat!”

You look back at Yuuji and stare deeply inside the barrier into Sukuna’s own eyes.

“Yes, I am still kicking. Spoiled King of Curses! Bye for now.”

With a wave and soft smile, you disappeared out of sight and leaving the three first years all healed and have the poison out of their lungs.

“Please tell me I am hearing and seeing things. I didn’t hear and see the she-devil herself.”

“Did she actually healed us?” Megumi and Nobara were bewildered by her actions.

YUUJI:

-the hard but simple truth is that he struggles to balance you and work. He knows his death is inevitable and struggles to decide between the betterment of mankind or you.

-his selflessness often gets in the way of the best choices. He'd easily throw himself under a bus for you, but also he would do that for anyone. It makes you feel less important knowing he'd sacrifice himself just as much for a stranger on the street as the person he's dating.

-says I love you way too fast

-has little to no experience

-sukuna is something that has always scared you. It's why you're too scared to do anything sexual with him, because you know he could be overpowered

-gets flustered easily and gets flirted with a lot. He's really oblivious to girls flirting with him in public so he goes along with it and you usually have to slide along and drag him away- either that or he knows and likes the attention

MEGUMI:

-I wouldn't say he's boring but-

-I can’t lie He's hella boring. Mostly by boring I mean you have to initiate EVERYTHING— mans is so damn fragile with you for no reason. I love him so much but he won’t take initiative if his life depended on it

I feel like out of all the JJK men he's one of the most likely to date a POC or chubby girl. Because he doesn't give af abt body types or abt looks. You're too skinny? Too fat? Nose to big? Eyebrows to thick or to thin? So??? Society made constructs for Beauty and nothing matters in the end anyway. He literally doesn't care about looks.

- Megumi is smart. And he knows that human emotion is inevitable. But he likes to avoid it because he’s mature enough to realize that it’s too risky

-he’s not scared of being hurt he’s scared of hurting someone

-His ideal type would be an honest and genuine person. He sees that as a truly good soul- and thinks it’s less common and appreciated now in society

-truly enjoys deep philosophical conversations

-unintentional is a feminist and no I will not explain

-I truly 100% believe this and will stand by it— out of all characters in JJK, megumis the most likely to fall in love. He probably believes in one perfect person for the rest of his life

-he’d be super shy and awkward on dates.

-would try to keep your ordinary citizen life as far away from his as possible. He doesn’t let you meet his friends or family- especially gojo.

-(if you’re even lucky enough to MAKE him start dating)

-but then you get past the puppy love phase and you see the truth behind him. He's narcissistic, he flirts a lot and gets flirted with, you live solely to make himself feel better. Not entirely in a sexual way, but in a god complex way.

-he gaslights and manipulates, he's secretive and never tells you the full truth, he trusts no one but himself. And I wouldn't put it past him to cheat (this is canon that he doesn’t date because he can’t commit)

-knows how to act cute and nice and funny, but in reality doesn't care.

-god complex with a narcissistic personality disorder and maybe a lil Bipolar

-expects to know who all your friends are and doesn't like you hanging out with guy friends. But will kiss other girls when drunk. “Drunk”

hey so before i get to working on replies again i do want to analyze gojo ( what’s new ) and discuss some aspects of his healing process. tbh i could never properly analyze the stages of thinking that gojo underwent during geto’s defection and afterwards in one post, but i ranted about it a bit on discord and I’m hoping to get it to make sense here.

what namely sparked this analysis was me finding two different translations of the same panel, which is a flashback from when gojo approaches megumi and takes him in. at one point, megumi asks if he’ll have to become a sorcerer ( in order to keep tsumiki happy ), and gojo said yes, but the translation is wildly different depending on which you read.

GIGANTIC ANALYSIS OF GOJO’S GRIEF POST STAR VESSEL ARC / GETO’S DEFECTION UNDER THE CUT.

the first is close to the gojo we've been seeing all throughout this past arc, the gojo that doesn't really care for people weaker than him: it continues to frame gojo as this unreachable glass sealing, this limitless individual who believes only the strongest will survive.

however, the second has a far different meaning, and is closer to the gojo we met initially:

the second is close to the gojo we see now, who is faithful and even hopeful in the next generation's ability to surpass him. the second translation is also really important not just to how gojo in general is characterized, but also in the way that i perceive gojo's healing process and what him seeking out megumi meant to his character.

in order to take that apart, i first have to address how i view the famous kfc breakup scene: i don’t think it was the moment gojo and geto realized they had opposing ideals. i think, purely because geto didn’t clue him into why he felt the way he did, gojo was forced to get ideals of his own.

gojo was in ethical limbo after geto left. geto was, according to gege, gojo's moral compass. and geto just walked off a ledge that he himself pulled gojo back from just the year before. in essence, it's not an opposition of ideals at all, because honestly, at that point, gojo doesn't have any ideals of his own. call it coping, call it neurodivergency, call it the fact that this is the only type of life he ever expected to live having come from a powerful sorcerer clan, but gojo never seemed to care much about the purpose in his work or what it meant to himself or others. it was just something he did because he had the ability to, and because at that point in time it was simply what sorcerers like him did.

there's a BIT of delinquency before the star vessel arc, but it's more in him wanting to do things HIS way because he's been under his family's control all his life before coming to tokyo tech. however, at the end of the day, gojo completes his jobs and his tasks without much second thought to it. he doesn’t question why he does jobs, and almost treats them like a game to show his own strength. geto even tries to convince him there's purpose in what they do and gojo laughs it off and says that sort of philosophy is for the weak and that he thinks it’s a load of self - righteous crap.

fast forward to when geto leaves. he's been following either the school or geto's lead in terms of intent for years now and he's been comfortable that way. so when geto leaves, gojo can’t understand why. he says things like "you can't" and "that's crazy talk" but he has no other reasoning to support that:

he just says it because what geto is doing is so outside of what the normal duties are, which is why geto pretty easily argues against it and gojo has no rebuttal. geto very easily turns that entire argument upside down, and shakes gojo’s entire sense of self with a single counter:

and gojo can’t understand it. he can’t argue it. gojo is less arguing because he opposes his ideals and more arguing that he can't break away from the system because he's never thought to himself. it's like a child refusing to accept something simply because they don't understand it, like if they deny it entirely then it isn't real and can't bother them.

this is also why i think he made the motion to attack him; he was never going to fight him, it was more about doing whatever was possible / in his power to try and force geto to stay because he didn't want to accept he was leaving. and if geto had stayed, gojo would have found a way to absolve him of his crimes because at the end of the day, it wasn't that he was opposed to geto's mindset. he was opposed to geto leaving.

geto was the single person who ever made him think about his motives and stopped him from doing things he knew he was capable of. with geto gone, gojo is totally lost and he is not coping effectively. he wouldn't empty out geto's room at all because that would mean he really left, so he didn't. not for weeks, or months, or even a year after it happened. he refused to do it and he threw a tantrum if anyone else tried to go near the room at all. there was a surplus of rooms, so that room was left alone almost like a grave for a long time.

during that intermediate period, gojo wasn't even sure where he stood anymore. he really questioned if he even wanted to be a sorcerer because if geto didn't do it anymore, why should he? he's never had compassion for non - shamans like geto did. what was he doing it for at all, then?

gojo was at a crossroads where he was between being a weapon for the higher ups that he didn't even like to begin with or following someone he did care about and respect, down a path that he knew to be wrong but realized he'd never once asked himself why.

gojo was moody. sometimes he'd be too reckless on jobs, and other times he would rebel and outright refuse to go on missions because he was lashing out at the control he let them have over him. he was a loose cannon and while he had yet to start actively being an enemy to the higher ups ( at this time i hc he never really threatened them or demanded to know their every move ), he was still powerful enough where they knew if they couldn’t get him under their control, they might lose everything ------ and frankly, if geto and gojo defected, they'd never be able to recover from that. at that point if they had a way to kill him, i truly believe they would have and i'm sure there was at least an attempt, which i have a separate headcanon for.

but healing has to start somewhere. he clearly does have a shift in mentality where he does care about protecting those weaker than him, and that's the first step. it's gojo accepting he can't go geto's route because he doesn't hate the world like geto does. he hates the people who oppress it. the next step is accepting geto left, which is hard. after about 2 years he and shouko clean out geto's room and it's really hard on him, it's a very emotional event and it's a very delayed acceptance that he is gone.

the final step in his decision to heal ( heal being a strong word since the man never gets therapy and is clearly still traumatized ) is investigating those final words toji left him with, that "do what you want" regarding his child.

i have said that i don't hc he went there to get megumi, but he just went there to see him and see what the big deal was. but then he found out about the deal and something compelled him to go and investigate, and when he met megumi, he didn't find toji's "trump card" or some secret weapon. he found a child. a child that was abandoned and destined to turn out like himself or geto or toji and he very impulsively decided to take him and tsumiki in and stop the deal entirely.

that was the first time he opposed the higher ups for real. that was the first time he said "i'm getting in the way of this and if you try and stop me i WILL attack you and kill you all" and while he's an outsider with seemingly nothing to gain from that, they have no choice but to let him because no one can stop him.

that second translation of "become strong enough to leave me behind" speaks volumes about the way i perceive gojo's shift in perception over one of the hardest segments of his life ... how i view the process in which he went from not caring about the weak at all to becoming a man who "won't forgive anyone who takes another person's youth", which would have happened to megumi and tsumiki if toji's deal went through.

maybe he didn't understand protecting the weak out of a sense of nobility, but protecting one's youth? one's right to be happy? he DOES get that. and that is what guides him towards compassion. it's a really good line in what i saw as the "final step" in him moving on from the events of the star vessel arc and moving towards becoming the person and teacher he is now, and of course his road there is neither linear nor perfect, but this is his turning point.
