Hey, Sophie!!! Are there any tips you have for writing or starting a new blog? You really inspired me to start a writing blog <33

i'm so happy i inspired you!!!! 💗 below the read more are just what came to mind, but if u have any other questions pls let me know!

blog wise 🧾 —

one: stylization. choose a theme and/or color palette (2-3 colors) and stick to it. stylize your [writing] posts to look nice and pleasing to the eye. aesthetic is important. you want people to want to click on your writing. if your post is just the title, warnings, and then the writing, with no header or divider (esp with no read more), you're likely to get less interaction. if you're the kind to get quickly bored of a theme, then stylize your posts in a way which will look good with any palette.

two: fandom. be aware of what fandom you're writing in. if you're writing for a smaller fandom, then the audience your going to reach is smaller, and vice versa. if you want to get popular/for your writing to reach a bigger audience, i recommend writing for a popular fandom. you can reach out to smaller stuff once you have a sizable amount of people that will read whatever you put out. of course, it's all up to you— write whatever you like, and for whatever you like! don't be disheartened by lack of interaction. what's most important is that you're happy with your work.

three: navigation. making your blog easy to navigate is important. tag the writing with a writing tag, tag your misc text posts, tag readers gender, tag reblogs, tag discourse (though i recommend keeping discourse entirely separate from your writing blog, as fanfic is mostly used as an escape), everything— this is important for your blogs navigability. i only tagged my text posts in the beginning and now i have to go back and add tags to my older posts so people can have an easier time going through my writing. it sucks. so much so that i've been putting it off and only have like, 10 writing posts tagged properly rn. save yourself the trouble and do it from the start!

writing wise ✒️ —

one: readability. you do not want your work to be hard to read or to understand. it's important to be concise, and to simplify sentences when they become too jumbled. note: i am not saying to dumb down your writing, but accessibility is necessary if you want your work to reach a bigger audience. just keep this in mind when rereading your work. i elaborate further on what i mean by 'readability' below.

two: word-usage. it's important to note that there's a fine line between showcasing your vocabulary, and using words you don't fully understand to impress an audience that truly does not care for it. call it black, not stygian. say it was dark out, not "the tenebrous clouds loomed over the crepuscular sky".

i'm not saying to completely remove words that may challenge your readers vocabulary. no, most people actually like learning new words. but it's important to know the distinction between learning a new word, and being overwhelmed by them to the point you can't fully understand what's being described.

there is a time and place. there will be a time where calling the color black stygian or pale green glaucous feels right. that is not going to be when you just learned of the words existence. these moments should feel and be natural, not forced.

three: word-choice. you can tell a lot of things just be using a specific word. if a character is meant to be seen as strong and mighty, you can paint how weak the reader makes them (this is under the assumption u want to write fanfic but this applies everywhere dsbxjdbd) by calling their blushing 'delicate' or 'fragile' in direct juxtaposition to their persona. readers r gonna understand the subtext.

four: familiar phrasing. familiar phrasing are phrases, or certain words strung together, that are familiar to the reader— to a detriment. phrases such as "a shiver ran down his spine", or describing a storm as "raging", are all familiar phrasing. They aren't unique descriptions, and while every sentence doesn't need to be perfect, this is still something you can work on on your own pace.

what's most important is what you're invoking for the reader. you could describe a sun's reflection on the sea as just that, the sun's reflection— or you could describe it as a second sun dipping beneath the horizon, gold and glittery, honey dipped in water... whether those descriptions resonant with the reader is unknown, but at least they evoke something that is unfamiliar. they paint a picture that is distinct from simply a sun's reflection. keep it in mind! ^^ i think that's all i have to say for now... sorry if my wording was a little wonky in places, it's 1 am for me rn... but i still hope this helps nonnie, and feel free to msg me again if u want me to elaborate further on any of these or if u want my advice/tips on something more specific..!!! <3

What’s your favourite sims death? I think it would have to be Cardiac Explosion. I just find the idea of a sim getting so mad that their heart explodes hilarious, I don't know why! ^^

Alpha CC or Maxis Match? I've always been pretty Maxis Match. If I were to go Alpha I'd have to change *everything* in the game to match otherwise it would bug the crap outtah me, and gosh, that would be WAY too much work. x___x I also just love the cartoony aesthetic a heck of a lot more.

Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? No, not usually. Only if the weight gain/loss was completely unrealistic to what I'd expect because the game's systems don't work the way I'd like. Sometimes I become attached to the idea of a sim being a certain way, but I usually let their natural metabolism win out in the game. I love me some soft, chubby sims! :)

Do you use move objects? Yes!

Favorite mod? Ooof, this is hard… I've become very fond of most of Lumpinou's mods. MissyHissy has a lot of great mods that flesh out the gameplay in a maxis-match way, too! Though I probably get the most use out of Wonderful Whims and Meaningful Stories; the game just doesn't feel right without them!

First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? Gosh, this was so long ago I can barely remember… it was probably Get Together or City Living.

Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? aLIVE Mode, like "we're going LIVE to Bella Goth in Willow Creek!"

Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? This is a hard one, because I love them all so much! 🥹 Philomena Velasquez will always hold a special place in my heart as my first Sims 4 legacy founder who was super fun to play (even though I didn't have a simblr blog at the time so none of it is documented anywhere). But I also have a major soft spot for Gabriel McKinley. She has the best resting bitch face. :D

Have you made a simself? Yup, I may be a little too obsessed with them, hahaha

What sim traits do you give yourself? Usually: Geek, unflirty, and either creative/maker. Since we can have more than that now, I might also add dog lover, loyal, and lazy (because it matches my ME/CFS symptoms closest).

Which is your favorite EA hair color? The second brown swatch, the new one with the nice warm highlights. :D Swatch #4. 👍

Favorite EA hair? I love the base game half-tied back tight curly hair, the one that was added in a free patch not too long ago. ^^ (SDX015CoilyTwistback)

Favorite life stage? I have a soft spot for all of them for different reasons, but I do really love it when my sims reach Elderhood and develop wrinkles and grey hair and start to slow down. :) Feels like a reward after a long, hard life! I love giving my elders a few more days using MCCC so they can enjoy being grandparents. ^^

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? 99% gameplay! I will occasionally build if the madness strikes me, but I usually rely on builds shared by others here on Tumblr or on the gallery. I'm not very good at designing actual buildings, and I get so caught up in decorating sometimes that it takes HOURS. x___X

Are you a CC creator? I am! I haven't yet broken into anything that requires Blender, but if it's a simple 2D .png texture edit I'm all over it. :D

Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? Nope! It's just me, which is absolutely fine! I have friends elsewhere. I just really don't get on with Discord, and that seems to be where most simblr folks hang out in groups.

What’s your favorite game? (Sims 1, 2, 3, or 4) I've played all of them, and every time the new game was an improvement on the old, for various reasons. I played SO MUCH of the Sims 2 when I was a kid/in high school, it really stoked the flames of my life-long Sims addiction. While I've gone back and tried to play all the old games again recently, I just couldn't get back into them. The Sims 4 currently has my whole heart. I love the aesthetic, and there's so much content to it now I don't really want for anything that the older games had. (Except perhaps more chaos/whimsy/custom animations for various interactions. :) )

Do you have any sims merch? Other than the video games themselves, nope!

How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? It hasn't, much; though I suppose I keep finding new skin details that I fall in love with and start using on every sim, so you can see different phases that way. I might go a little maxis mix when it comes to some skin details nowadays. ^^;

Who’s your favorite CC creator? Oh gosh, I have so many! For hairs, Okruee, Dogsill, and Simstrouble never let me down. I also love Shysimblr's stuff, SleepingSims, and Simtric's. Saurus' hair is still such an important staple for me, too! For clothes, Joliebean, Trillyke, LadyFu's recolours, Nucrests, Simkoos, Renorasims, Sifix, Jius, Rusty, Serenity, VIIAVI… Max20 has a chokehold on me for BB stuff, as does SIXAMcc, Surely-Sims, awingedllama and Ravasheen. Sorry, I honestly can't pick just one. ;____;

How long have you had a simblr? I started this one in Oct 2020, I think. Wasn't really in the Simblr community at any other time, though I did try to create some CC back in TS2 days on ModTheSims. ^^

How do you edit your pictures? I mostly rely on my Gshade preset to do most of the colour editing/DOF stuff, then I do a teensy bit more in Photoshop and apply TopazClean. I made a post about my current process here. I also have some older examples/downloads here and here. When I first started I did all my editing in Clip Studio Paint; Photoshop isn't a requirement to get nice screenshots. :)

What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? This is also a hard one! I'm really enjoying all the stuff added with Growing Together. Definitely the best expansion pack in a while. City Living, Seasons, and Cats & Dogs are also fantastic. The game packs that add new occults, Vampires and Werewolves, are also good fun! And as far as added gameplay goes, Strangerville is a really great buy.

What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? I can't lie, I'm super excited about the idea of a horse-themed pack, but I know it won't be as good as I hope it will be. X) As far as anything else? Hmm… I'd love more career variety in terms of how it interacts with gameplay (fewer boring rabbit hole careers, for example), and more apartment lots. Another city-styled world would be amazing, as well as worlds based on different places around the globe. I love Sulani, Mt. Komorebi, Tartosa, etc., let's get more variety! 💪

Hello, I just want to ask an advice I’ve been on this blog/playform for around 1-2 or so but my blog nor my works has gotten really much attention and I want to ask how to boost one’s presence here but like due to school I had an infinite hiatus, also I’m kind of shy to interact sometimes with other writers that’s why I keep my knit here small😅 but well I’ll take in any advice. first of all, hello, nice to meet you lol! i’m not much of an advice person, but i can give you some tips that may help!

1) try to post consistently! i know school drains a lot of people, myself included, but if you post consistently, that drags followers and mutuals in!

2) tag your posts properly! i didn’t know how to do this in the beginning so i went to a blog i was following at the time and copied what they had in their tags (ones that were relevant)! for example, if you write a mark smut, tag it #mark lee smut, #nct dream smut, #mark lee x reader, etc. you can use mine as an example if you’d like!

3) make your blog aesthetic. this is kind of a shallow one, but i tend to see that followers like a pretty/simple/aesthetic layout. when i first started, i drew inspiration from other blogs, but now i just do my own thing lol. whatever is pleasing to the eyes.

4) remember that you’re writing for you! the followers and engagement will sorta come naturally after that. just write what you want, okay?

5) try and make mutuals! i know this is scary but it helps! having friends on tumblr that will read, like, and promote your work really helps!

🍨 BEST EXPERIENCE: A very long involved relationship between an OC I have and someone else’s OC. Still sad I fell out of contact with them, and still consider their OC part of my OC’s storyline (I asked them a while ago and they said they were okay with it but that was a year or two ago). I miss Rumple, but she just doesn’t fit on tumblr anymore.

🍨 RP PET PEEVES/DEALBREAKERS: If you want something “serious” then drama OOC, and god modding. If you want just a “pet peeve” my three biggest ones are..

1: an excess of formatting. If yoUr response is so formated it’s almost impossible to read… I can’t be bothered I’m sorry. If you enjoy that more power to you, but I can’t deal with it.

2: Profiles that are so “aesthetic” I have to look for 20 minutes for the rules page, bio, and where the ask button is… and still can’t read half of it. I get wanting something to look nice but PLEASE consider readability.

3: This is a small stupid thing but the usages of && in a rp response. My head automatically translates that to “and and”, and I just can’t deal. As a note run your blog how you want. Write how you want. Format how you want. If it makes you happy than go for it. Your thing isn’t my thing, and that’s fine… but those are my personal pet peeves.

🍨 FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: I love angst, but there is such a thing as too much and there’s also such a thing as “angst just because angst” that doesn’t actually contribute anything to the story line. I don’t like when there’s been multiple lengthy threads and all of them have been just fluff, or just angst. I also have to be careful when writing angst because it’s very easy for me to take it very far. So I suppose… balance. As for smut that really depends on the characters, and everything else. I enjoy writing smut on ocassion because it can show some very interesting things about two characters dynamics and how they work when it’s just the two of them on a very intimate level. I also feel like what desires a character has in that particular situation can tell you interesting things about them. At the same time I have no desire anymore to write smut purely for smuts sake, and am also completely fine writing out a full relationship story/plot and when ever sex comes up just fading to black if that’s what the other writer is more comfortable with.

🍨 PLOTS OR MEMES:  I love both. Memes a lot of the time are for fun, and I’m fine if they get picked up and carried on for a thread or if they don’t is fine as well. Some memes work better as a starter then others, and some are good just for a fun drabble. Plotting is fun for figuring out a general idea of how to start, and where to go next in a story. In my experience without some degree of intermittent plotting stories will end up loosing steam because they stop having a good thread going through them, and become too random.

🍨 LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: Normally long replies. Some times I do short crack’ish things but that’s very very rare. For me to stay engaged and interested it needs to be long.

🍨 BEST TIME TO WRITE: Whenever my weird ass brain, energy levels, spoons, and time allows. There’s no one best time for me.

🍨 ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): There are things I connect with yes, and that goes for any and all of my muses. An attitude, or an ideology (although I might not go as extreme), or a mental health issue, or whatever all else. In my opinion it makes it easier to write a muse when there is something you connect with, or can project onto or whatever else. Am I like my muses though? No I don’t think so. There’s always enough differences, and enough separation that I just don’t see that as the case.

Blog Update #06 - March 28 2024 - Game Evolution, Game Aesthetics and Progress as a Designer

Last time in my blog I briefly mentioned how it took years to develop the "system" for playing Mirror's Game as it is played now. "It can really only be a culmination of playtesting and finding solutions. I guess back then I was more willing to throw away hours of work, or more willing to try things and fill in the gaps until something was whole."

At the time of writing this blog post, It has been about a year and a half since I designed what has become the default template for cards in Mirror's Game. The game has had many iterations over the years, but it seems that because so much has been done in the newest template that moving away from it would bring difficulties. Lets look at the frames and discuss the evolution of the game.

Frame 1 - Created in 2018

This is a bare bones frame because there was no intention to produce this game in any serious capacity. There was no art or anything. Looking at it now, it is a really amateurish concept. It was made in MS Paint to no specifications for any printer. There are some things to point out that stuck for many iterations, as well as things that had to change. Let's discuss the positives of the frame before the negatives. From the beginning I knew I'd want a frame that had some details overlap the black border of the card in some way, and it is hard to see even in this image but I cut out some of the black to subtly let the area for the card name box appear to be a layer above other things. It is a simple design trick. I also like the placement of the ATK and HP. I think this is the way Hearthstone lays out its ATK and HP, as well. I used Red for ATK and Green for HP. I like this decision but I'll mention why I wouldn't do this nowadays in a moment.

The negatives are pretty obvious if you're a game designer, or at least I think they should be if you want to produce a quality game. First of all, all the important info is poorly placed. If a right handed player had their cards fanned out in hand, there would be no way to easily discern what cards were worth playing. They'd have to meticulously comb through the cards, adding some friction to game play. I didn't have a reason for doing things the way I did besides I thought it looked nice, but sometimes you have to make compromises in design for function. Another major issue with the design is that the ATK and HP use two colors that are not easily visible if someone is colorblind. This can cause some confusion, and creates a problem rather than a solution when trying to simplify the legibility of the game. It was a failure in design overall.

In this first design, cards would cost stars (mana) and meter (life) to play. Meter was also a stat, not just a cost. Cards did as much damage to the opponent as they cost in meter. This system was not sustainable at all, because life was tied to play costs and power. This had to be reworked heavily. I was trying to create a system where any card was playable from the beginning, but There were too many costs involved and the power of cards was so high that a lot of choices started to make less sense over time, and the outcome of games was determined very quickly by opening hands. There was also no types for creature cards, and no spell cards. Everything was a generic creature that's strength was simply coming from the cards text. This would become difficult to work with really quickly, and I think a desire to make a simple game was too strong. I should've started with just a little more complexity. The next design tried to address some of these issues. My idea was to introduce "colors" for cards, so certain cards could interact with certain colors. I also changed the stars from 4 to 5 stars per turn, which has stuck since then. I began with four because I liked the implication of "2 stars is half my turn, 3 stars is more than half my turn." However it was a little bit difficult to play more than one card a turn. This also meant there was really just a few combinations of play per turn. a 1 and 3, a 2 and a 2, four 1s, or one 4. Changing this to five added so much room for design, while still keeping the idea that "3 stars are more than half your turn." Now players could get more creative with cards played together in a turn. This design was short lived, and all the issues of formatting remained. It took a long time for those to go away. The next template was the same just prettier, and the fourth one was on track to be a good design for once. The fourth design, It shared issues with the past designs, but finally at least the name of the card was in a good position. I decided to emulate Yu-Gi-Oh! (Something that should never be done.) and layed the star costs out instead of forming any sort of cluster. I used a gray border even, like YGO does. I put the battle stats all along the bottom like YGO as well. At the time, I wanted the style of the game to evoke a nostalgic style. Around the time I had made this design is when MetaZoo came along, and I completely scrapped any ideas of going for a nostalgic style. In practice, I didn't really care for it at all. As for mechanical improvements of this frame, I finally ditched the "colors" for creature types. It would also be the first time the game included "spell cards." or cards that didn't fight on the field. I made them playable once per turn, like Supporters in Pokemon and they have remained that way to this day. I decided to give every creature card two types, a primary type and secondary type like YGO. I even amde it so a card couldn't be two primary types. I did avoid repetitive types for the most part, except for some I felt justified in giving a similar subtype. For example, Mirror's Game has an Undead primary type and a Zombie subtype because I don't think those would be mutually exclusive. Like should a Vampire inherently be a Zombie? It's debatable. But what if I wanted to design a Fire Zombie or something? Some of the creature types in YGO are confusing, like Beast-Warriors not being Warriors. I tried to avoid these sorts of designs. Finally, the bottom two designs are where I think I got my sh*t together. I was looking at Japanese card games, and I found a game called Precious Memories. I realized that game had a lot of the things I needed for my game in their frame, so I used it as inspiration. I even named a card in the base set after the game as a means of "paying respects" to the game with the frame that showed me the light!

The first thing was that I gave up on trying to find a cute way to organize the stars on a card. It was never that easy to understand, and could lead to misconceptions from YGO players (these misconceptions ended up happening anyway, but at least I tried to minimize it!) So now the cost of a card was simply a number with a star beside it. Stars would go on to indicate costs of cards throughout. This time, I placed the cost in a legible spot, and made sure the most important creature stat was also visible when cards were fanned out by a right handed player. I think it took me so long to realize this because I am left handed. The name of cards were also right aligned so some of it could be read in this situation. In the fifth iteration I intended there to be an "orb" in the corner of the card like YGO and Pokemon to indicate the creature type, but this was scrapped by the sixth design. I looked at Precious Memories once again, and I decided on the gradient style for the name plate similar to that game. There is a lot more flashiness to the Japanese game, but I thought this looked really nice. Because the gradient was from the center of the plate, I decided to center the name of cards. The names aren't always perfectly centered, though. This is because sometimes it looks better if the name "plays" with the rest of the art somewhat. It's hardly noticeable. Another big change for the sixth frame was using royalty free fonts. I was accidentally using fonts I didn't know I didn't have the rights for in the past, whoops.

I don't know where else to mention this so, I'll mention the little dragon guy that surrounds the cost of creature cards. I wanted to create a generic "monster" to represent all monsters. It was a fantasy game from the start, so I decided on a dragon. I like it when games have creatures in them that aren't really creatures, like the substitute doll in Pokemon. I considered designing a new symbol for each different creature type, but once I designed a symbol for spell cards I decided that this ornamentation would work better as a symbol representing card type than for the creature type. This can be seen as a carry over from when the game was influenced by YGO. YGO uses the orange frame for any effect monster, then green for spells and purple for traps. We use Blue for spells, and red for the special "bound" creatures. Bound creatures were introduced much later, after the segmented life total was decided upon. The frame for this came after the dragon, I decided that an angry dragon would invoke that these cards are no regular creature. I also created a "sub cost" symbol just for bounds, that picture a stock breaking instead of just the star so players could easily tell the card was not normal. This was also in the fifth iteration of the game, but in that iteration the additional cost symbol was just as big as the main cost and i wanted to keep it open for possibly using to describe other additional costs. It would be sort of like how old MTG cards that had effects in the graveyard had a tombstone symbol. MTG seems to be really good at making minor changes to the template of a card to indicate minor mechanical differences of the card. MTG stands as a great source of inspiration for aspiring card game designers.

Riddle x Kalim Headcannons & Fun Scenarios

Dancing, Dancing Dancing:

I can see one thing both of them love to do is dance together. We know Kalim knows a lotta styles of dance and Riddle knows how to do the waltz. So I can see when Riddle isn't busy, or if Kalim thinks riddle needs a break, they'll simply dance the day away having fun letting their worries ebb away with each twirl and step the other takes. Well that is before Kalim swings the dance in a whole other direction without warning.

Cater being the shipper friend:

With those two being good friends of our favorite magicam boy I can see Cater being thrilled at the two being a couple. Not just for the aesthetic but because also because they just look great together, picking up for what the other lacks, and

in turn helping them get better at what they need to work on. Plus you know cater will be taking pictures of the pictures of the two, starting two hashtags in the process. Ridkali and Royal court(basically since Kalim reminds him of a sultan and Riddle reminds him of a queen its like a royal courtship)

Unless we learn Kalim was taught how to ride a horse, I can see Riddle repaying Kalim whenever he gives him a flying carpet ride may take Kalim to ride vorpal with him. Enjoying Kalim being happy alongside him I can see the queen wanting to show off hus hard earned skill to his rose. And may even offer to teach Kalim how to ride one himself

Knowing Kalim I can see how much he's into PDA being a large thing fir riddle to adjust to. Heck even receiving a constant string of love and affection may take some getting used to, but i do think besides chastising kalim at times, riddle would enjoy it as well. It's a nice change of pace for him. Now if only kalim wouldn't do so in public he'd be even more happy for it.

Eng Twst translation opinions

Alrighty, I think after seeing this I think we can all breath a sigh of relief at the quality of the translations. From the snippet at 12:28-15:27 everything seems like its a pretty good translation.

But now this puts my already high respect to our fan translators on an even higher tier. Because from what little i remember from seeing translations of the prologue this was a near one to one translation of that scene minus a few additions here and there.

Which again I cannot give enough props to our translators.

So yeah, thankfully Disney didn't go cheap on us so far.

Omg Riddle accepted it, ok, i have officially become a Ridkali shipper, this is so adorable

Now I'm just picturing after the feast you just see Riddle either sitting besides kalim, or at least hold his waist as they both soar above the clouds looking at a jewelry filled sky of stars on a cool desert night. As for once in riddle's case, his worries of being a dorm leader crawl to the back of his mind as he's seen a whole new world.

Twisted Wonderland: Dorm leaders in Genshin Impact Au

This is a ramble about how I can imagine and see the twst Housewardens/Dorm Leaders if they were in genshin. Hope y'all like my ideas, so anyway on with the show!

🌹Riddle Rosehearts:

The rule bound rose of the Lawrence clan~

For our prescious strawberry I can imagine Riddle being another poor child who was born into the Lawrence clan. A to be redeemer of the clan's fall from power, trained to harness his vision to strike back against the Knights of Mondstadt. An ever useful obedient child who has only grown up hearing the rules and misguided arrogance of elder clan members. Forcing him to be their perfect rose, a better heir than Eula could ever be. Especially after she left her family behind, Riddle's lessons and pressure was doubled from then on. But even as he suffered he gave no objection, these were the rules, and he was a Lawrence above all else and had to uphold their "honor."

As for his relationship with Eula, there is an edge of rivalry between the two mixed with an air of empathy. Riddle sometimes looks to Eula with envy at being so free in his eyes, but a part of him also deems it as foolish and a mockery of the clan. But even if he's so bound up in his lessons, maybe all the withered rose needs is a little push to finally grow free from those who would use him as no more than a tool.

Twst English release opinions

Alright then, after playing twst eng for two days I gotta say, I love it. Like no joke I love this game and it's dragging me even deeper into twst again! But if y'all wanna see my opinion on the changes in translation and localization it's this.

Overall good, but tried too hard sometimes

Even as someone who loves the uniqueness i do have like a couple

Trey's unique magic/signature spell name change, it just felt unnecessary but even with what they changed it too I don't hate it cause it's still a cool name either way.

Hornton, I don't hate it at all but I feel it could've been better as well. But I can also understand why they'd be less likely to do a direct translation as well. Cause horn/horny can be interpreted as well sexual themes

Other than that it's not that bad, and not nearly as bad as I've seen older fans act.

Like guys. I love the community but y'all are out of pocket for this. You're being overdramatic at worst and are giving small moments to other fans which makes the problem even worse because without seeing the rest of the product people will think it's 4kids even though most of the basic translations are good.

Honestly this will be my only time saying this(i hope) but I wouldn't say the Japanese version is the "true" version of the story because from what I've seen everything has its same feeling and vibe as to its original form. If you came into English twst you will still get hit by the emotional moments and will still enjoy yourself.

All in all, can you guys stop treating this like it's a plague of the earth, let's be civil and if we really have a problem just put your concerns to the devs as best you can. Hopefully they'll listen, but fir now I'm staying out if the twisted wonderland tag fir my own enjoyment.

Well, I suppose my "Top 5" can go without mentioning for the umpteenth time. I refer to them as the "Founders" for a reason. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

So.... Let's keep it fun and go with the "Top Five" under them. Just for funsies. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

1. NaeSonia

If you had the chance to date a foreign Princess, would you? She's got a lot on her shoulders in universes where the world didn't go to Hell, but one of the fun aspects of NaeSonia involves the reverse situation happening in the relationship - instead of taking Makoto to Novoselic to become the King, she settles for becoming an ordinary girl. That is one of the quirks of Sonia, she's royalty but she wants to experience....normalcy. And she got to achieve that dream at Hope's Peak (for the most part.....if you consider Ultimate classmates, senpai, kouhai, and Sensei's "normal*). Plus, Makoto is as normal as it gets, aside from base Hajime~ These two just have a great aesthetic and..... There's a lot to love. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

2. Naegi x

I'm gonna be fair for this next one, rather than leave any of them out in the cold. If Makoto can get along with Sayaka and share a special bond, why stop there? Kasumi, Ayaka, Satomi, and Haruka are Sayaka's friends. Best friends. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) And Sayaka's best friends and soulmate are their best friend and soulmate..... Right? That's how it works? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Heck, just imagine a universe where all of them attended Black Roots Junior High and each encountered Makoto in some fashion like Sayaka, and they developed a following for the selfless, adorable, Must Protect Egg. Talk about wholesome~ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)👍

3. Naegi x Student Council

This’ll be the last time, I swear.  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)*** My knee jerk reaction is NaeTsubasa.... But let’s be fair~ The Student Council got the short end of the stick in canon. We’re lucky to have Vergilsama92 for breathing life into these one-off characters that, quite frankly, didn’t deserve the treatment they got (but then again, that’s par for the course in Danganronpa, isn’t it?). NaeTsubasa is wonderful.  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) But so’s NaeSuzuko. NaeKaren. NaeAiko. NaeKiriko. And of course NaeKotomi. \  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) / Such a colorful Student Council. The Egg and the rest of the academy sure is Lucky and Blessed to be guided by such leadership~

4. Naegi x Kotoko

Kotoko is one of those tragic characters that we’re forced to “forever” be hostage to the pity that we feel for her canon counterpart’s childhood trauma, thanks to the Danganronpa community. This isn’t to say we can’t feel bad for that trauma, but why should we be so limited to who Kotoko is? Why can’t she be older? Why can’t she avoid a childhood of molestation and possible rape? Fanfiction in part exists to imagine New Possibilities, and who wouldn’t want to spare Kotoko that miserable fate?  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Vergilsama92 outdid himself again with the Older Kotoko designs, and she’s been doing marvelous as the Ultimate Actress, and one of the addendums to Class 78 in the Hope Universe~ I hope to get around to musing on Kotoko, Monaca, and Ryoko being added to the roster in place of.... Yasuhiro.... (Apologies to Yasuhiro fans, but I am not among you, so if you like him...you might want to skip his name when he comes up in my blog; I seldom have good things to say about him, but that is MY preference, and should not stop you from enjoying him). Not only did she avoid a traumatic childhood, but like Sonia, Kotoko craves an ordinary life~ She’s a lot more casual about staying in showbusiness or leaving it for other ventures, and Makoto’s just such a nice guy.... y’know?  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

5. Naegi x Maki

I suppose in our final shoutout for now, let’s go with.... Tsun-Tsun Assassin-chan.  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I tend to enjoy tsunderes, and Maki’s honestly a nice girl that’s rough around the edges because of living in an orphanage. Makoto brings her out of her shell, and gives her hope that she doesn’t have to remain a cold-blooded killer forever; she can use her skills to protect what’s important to her, instead. And honestly, it’s cute how she’ll butt heads with the other girls, and is like a little sister to Mukuro and Peko~ We need more girls full of fire like Maki.  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) If it was peaceful all the time, how could we appreciate the peace? Sometimes the girls need to vent their frustrations with each other~ Such beautiful chemical reactions~ \ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) /

I would honestly go for a full Top 10, but I already wasted space at the beginning, and Tumblr only allows 10 pics per post. Besides~ I’d prefer dedicating that time to skits and pics. I used to do avatar pictures for IMVU every once in awhile back in the day. Given, they were shit, but I still enjoyed doing so. Luckily, some of my techniques have stuck. Other than that, idk. I just do what I like.

I mainly listen to music. The music depends on what type of piece I'm doing. Example, if I'm doing some editing on a sim, I listen to music that I think that sim would listen to. It helps me put together the overall aesthetic of the piece.

Well I've only uploaded 1 thing so far, so I guess this.

I don't think I could describe it. I like to attempt a lot of different styles but with my own taste.

Tell us about your “dream”. uhh like where I want to be in life? what I want to do? um I’m still working on the exact job title, but I wish to do research at a natural history/science museum (sorta like archives or collections manager, but neither of those are quite right i think). I’ve had some poems published before (it was with entering a poetry contest), I have surprisingly good balance, my brain is not properly awake/functioning until 10am which has led to me almost using soap as toothpaste a few times too many, I have a birthmark on my finger (bonus: it sorta changes color/how noticeable it is depending on how hot or cold I am lol, i call it a mini thermometer cause of this), apparently Lion King was my Disney movie obsession as a kid...oh and I have a certificate in cryptozoology lolz

9.) What’s your day job? i work as a private nanny/glorified babysitter (i don’t live with them or drive but work regular hours through week and as needed; even join the occasional vacation with them)

I don’t like to think so as to me, everyone is unique but every time a brown eyes/curly hair becomes famous, people say I look like him ... I don’t really know ... Let’s say I like to tell dark stories in a colourfull world ? I never really thought deep about that to be honest

An evolving one ? I’m always learning and evolving in my personnal life and so does is my art. I like to do a lot of different things even though that means taking more time to finish things. I try to be as much inclusive and feminist as I can/want without fearing other people’s judgment just because it’s also the kind of art I want to see in general.

13.) How did you get into your form of art?

I started to write at 16 after spending a night at my grandmother’s in which we spoke a lot. She told me a lot about her life and how she survived ww2 as a child and she highly suggest me to start writing. It took a while though but it grows surely inside my mind. I never stopped writing since.

For sims story, well it’s pretty simple. As I don’t know how to create cc yet and wanted to be a part of the community I thaught the best was to start storytelling. After all, I have a lot of stories in mind and I wanted to see how it would look as sims story so why not create it instead of waiting for someone else to tell it?

14.) What do you watch/listen/read/anything else while you create?

A lot of things !!! I’m watching Orange is the new black as I’m writing for instance ! As I live with my boyfriend and we have one room, we watch TV while I work on sims stories. We don’t even have a desk or a special room for that so I usually play/write/edit with my laptop on my legs ... Not the best comfort I can assure you

15.) What is your favorite of your own creations so far?

I’m more and more happier with what I do with Destiny Harbour these days ^^ I’m still working on season 2 and I really can’t wait to show you all the plots I’ve prepared . I’m also prepapring a little something for Simblreen I think . I need to stop my brain from having ideas someday ^^”

I don’t know ... Here I write dark sims stories I guess. I like to play with different style, different editing to fit a proper story.I love to mix darkness and colourfull things to include some kind of light in those stories.

Cat’s Definitive Ranking of Every ML Episode as of 4/22/21

Are you guys ready for this? I did the thing. You’re all welcome. Don’t ever ask me for anything again. You can watch me get progressively more unhinged in real time. 

Now, just to preface this, I did not give this too much thought. Most of these are just my gut feelings. I went through every episode and just made some snap judgments based off the lasting impressions I’ve been left with. These are my opinions. If you don’t like them, tough. And also I don’t care. Go spend 4 hours making your own damn ranking. And shut the hell up. Anyway, this is probably the longest post I’ve ever made, so I’m gonna put it all under a read more. Click on it if you have an hour to read it. Okay, here we go!

1.     Origins II- Good starting point for our heroes. Good establishment of canon ships and character dynamics. Umbrella scene literally stole my wallet. Cannot emphasis enough that I am whipped for the umbrella scene. I wrote a whole ass AU just to say how whipped I am for the umbrella scene. In the Rain will play at my wedding. Jk. Weddings are for suckers. But dammit if I don’t want these kids to get married. 10/10

2.     Origins I- Good introduction to lore. Good introduction to characters. Good establishment of status quoyo. Just good. 10/10

3.     Simon Says- Listen, I am nothing if not a shipper at heart. This episode just sparks joy. And the whole series almost ended when Gabriel almost jumped off the roof. I was really rooting for this one. This was the episode where I saw Ladrien and went yes, ma’am, I’ll have one of those. 10/10

4.     Evillustrator- Are you all surprised? Cat, the MC-skeptic ranked the pivotal MC episode so highly? Well, let me tell you all a thing, I started this fandom out a MC shipper because of this episode. Their first interaction is gold. I don’t deny that. I enjoy it. This is the MC dynamic I fell in love with. Yall toxic shippers ruined MC for me when you opened your mouths and spat in the face of Ladrien and baselessly declared MC the sin-ship. We all know it’s Ladrien. Stop kidding yourselves. Boy in leather catsuit? Please. Basic ass vanilla bitches. I’m getting off-topic. Solid episode 10/10. We love to see it.

5.     Stormy Weather- Baby’s first Miraculous episode. It holds a special place in my heart. It’s a solid episode. Good establishment of what the show is. Fun villain. Good times. Fond memories. 10/10

6.     Riposte- Listen, I know I’m an Adrinette stan, but hear me out: Ladrien. It’s just so good. And Kagami was compelling in this episode. It was just really solid. It’s my favorite s2 episode. If you ask me if I want to rewatch Riposte, the answer is always yes. 10/10. We stan.

7.     Gorizilla- Okay, so this episode has some solid Adrinette in it, but the real reason it ranks so high is that fucking Ladrien trust fall. I stare at that scene for hours, you guys. HOURS. It is absolutely just *chefs kiss*. Sometimes when I need a pick-me-up, I just go watch gifs of that catch on loop. 10/10. Beautiful. Radiant. Carefree.

8.     Gang of Secrets- I have been keeping most of my opinions to myself about s4 (mostly because I’ve backed way the hell out of this fandom), but GoS was pretty solid. Gotta say, it’s the first episode in a long time with this show that made me actually excited to see what happens next. Most other episodes I was like, okay, that was cute. The show is still meh overall. But GoS really got me like oh shit, is ML good again? 10/10 for making me feel things again.

9.     Oblivio- Told you guys this one was probably rated higher than I thought. Oblivio is just really fun. There is good Adrinette. That “No wonder I fell in love with you” paired with the softest of Adrien smiles just sends me. And the kisses. The unquestionable trust. These two kids literally woke up together alone in an elevator with no memories and said welp, you’re my boyfriend/girlfriend obviously, I don’t make the rules. Honestly, how anyone could argue that these two dorks aren’t made for each other after that episode is beyond me. 9/10

10.  Backwarder- Okay, I know I am weird and alone for this one, but I really liked this episode. It got a lot of shit for the constipation capsule thing at the end, but like who cares? We finally got some more backstory on Fu. He got a love-interest who is dope as hell. This episode is my favorite lucky charm use ever. Like that queen DID that. I like Backwarder, guys! Fuck off. 9/10.

11.  Kwamibuster- We all know I am a Marinette-stan by this point, but our girl was SHINING this episode. This bitch said gimme all them and let me go whoop this bitch’s ass, and she DID. Hawkmoth could never. Multimouse is a gift, and Marinette is a boss ass queen.  9/10

12.  Chat Blanc- Listen, this episode was very good. I enjoy the idea of my children being happy in another timeline somewhere very much. We got all 4 sides of the square in an episode. It’s just really solid. I know this is the fandom’s favorite, and everyone is gonna shit their pants because it didn’t make my top 10, but this is my list. So, I put it at number 12. It’s good. I like it. It just didn’t steal my wallet like other episodes did. Put the pitchforks down. It’s gonna be okay, you can still love it more than me. 8/10

13.  New York Special- I know everyone felt some type of way about this special, but I wasn’t mad at it. My perception of it might be clouded because I watched it in Disney World where I was chilling and having a great time, but like this special really did somethings for me. The Adrinette was top tier. Tippy top tier. Even though they hurt us in the end, I am okay with it because it just means the children will grow and come out stronger. I don’t care if it’s not technically canon. Ask me if I give a fuck. I don’t. I had fun here. 8/10. Solid.

14.  The Collector- This one might shock a lot of you, but let me paint you a scene. It’s the first episode of s2. We have just come off a 2 year hiatus. The fandom is thriving. We’re hungry for canon content. We have hopes and dreams and expectations. Everyone is going wild with theories. This episode confirmed something that was long since obvious (in my opinion) and ended the stupid arguments people had been having. It made Gabriel actually seem semi-competent. We got our first taste of how Chat/Adrien will react to his dad being Hawkmoth. We got a peek at their life. Adrien’s isolation and sadness. They were so close to figuring it out. The battle was epic. Like Collector really had them on the ropes there for a second. It’s a solid episode, yall. I’m not wrong. Hate me all you want, but this episode brought it. 8/10

15.  Despair Bear- Is this episode up this high because of the Adrinette slow dance scene? YOU BET YOUR ASS IT IS. Okay, but fr though, shipping aside, this episode gave us hope that Chloe was actually gonna redeem herself. I mean, she didn’t but, we didn’t know that at the time. Seeing her run around trying to be nice was fun. And then she actually did something good, and we had a moment of okay, she’s capable. We’ll get there. We didn’t. But what a ride this episode was for making us think she would. 8/10

16.  Startrain- Cat, you’re just ranking all the Adrinette episodes highest. And? What of it? Are you surprised? You clicked a blog that has simping for Adrinette in the description, and you’re surprised all my favorite episodes have Adrinette? I’m not wrong, you’re just an idiot. The Adrinette nap cuddles aside though, this was a pretty good episode. If you don’t think too hard about the whole space thing, we got a look at Max’s life, his mom is a driven, smart lady doing her best. Adrien rebels against papa for once. Alya stops a Lila scheme. Chloe gets to play the hero. Alya and Nino actually investigate like the heroes they are. Gabriel gets to realize what a dumbass bitch he is. I mean. Guys. Startrain is solid. 7.5/10

17.  Sapotis- This one shot up in rank for me after GoS, but tbh it’s always been a solid episode. Alyanette sleepover? Check. Alya becoming a superhero? Check. It’s a fun episode. And looking back, it’s nicely called back to later in GoS. We love it. 7.5/10

18.  Sandboy- Idk why I enjoy this episode as much as I do, but I do. Sandboy is a cute bean. I love his aesthetic. We also get hilarious looks at everyone’s nightmares. “Plagg, who turned you into a sock?” cracks me up cause like Adrien, bby, no XD And Chat Noir’s nightmare. I think it would have been interesting though if since Sandboy dusted the Agreste mansion, if we got a peek at Hawkmoth’s nightmares. It would have been a nice hint of plot to go along with Master Fu’s nightmare. Also Plagg giving the akuma the slip like the clever boy we know he is deep down? 7.5/10

19.  Furious Fu- If you guys haven’t realized by now that I love Fu, idk what you’re doing. Pay attention. I know that some people don’t like him, but I’m just gonna say it, you’re wrong. Fu took care of the Miracle Box for over 100 years, and this episode kind of gives some insight to what the Order was like. Very strict. Lots of rules. And ya know what, Fu said fuck the police, I’m gonna befriend these little magical demigods, and fuck off! Like what an absolute legend. I was really happy to see him living his best life, and that he and Marianne got married because it’s what he deserves. We love to see it. 7.5/10

20.  Gamer- People like to shit on Marinette in this episode, but like honestly, if I were in her shoes, I’d have probably done the same thing if I had the skill. Ain’t nothing wrong with a girl trying to spend time with the boy she likes. And Tom and Sabine being absolute shipping trash. I love them. And the awkward Adrinette. The introduction of the lucky charm that Adrien STILL carries. Wholesome. This was a good episode for their friendship, and we love to see it. 7.5/10

21.  Christmaster- Okay, I know a lot of people hated this episode when it aired, but I thought it was really funny? Everyone skidding around in the ice rink was hilarious. If you don’t take this episode seriously, it’s really fun. Chris is pretty cute, and damn right Ladybug is the best kid in the world. Idk. This episode is fun. I’m not mad at it. Sue me. 7.5/10

22.  Weredad- What? Another MC-heavy episode in Cat’s top 30? Listen, I don’t hate canon MC. The fans just annoy me. This episode was funny. The secondhand embarrassment and cringe was real. Plagg taunting Adrien because he knows the secret was great. Marinette being a self-saving queen was great. It’s a good episode. I like MC, you guys. I do. I swear! 7.5/10

23.  Miraculer- This episode was interesting to me, and I think it’s still a good development episode. For one, Sabrina finally got her own akuma episode named after her. Secondly, because it’s a big step for Chloe, just not in the way we expected. It totally makes sense that Chloe can’t have her Miraculous back because literally everyone knows her identity. Can’t argue that logic. And she is the first person to ever refuse to become akumatized, so like mad respect. I know a lot of people had high hopes for redeemed Chloe (myself included), but I think watching a character fall from revering someone to hating them is also an interesting path. The friends to enemies arc as it were. Idk. I liked this episode. It was an opportunity for Chloe to grow, even if she didn’t in the end, but we’ll talk about that later. 7.5/10

24.  Lady Wifi- I like Alya. I feel like I don’t say that much, and people make some assumptions because of MDCSP, but MDCSP is just a concept I wanted to explore. It doesn’t really reflect how I feel about any one character. Except maybe Lila. And Gabe. But every other spite fic I’ve written branching from Chameleon, the class has been fine. Alya has been fine. So, let it be known that I like Alya. Lady Wifi was a fun episode. Putting aside the fact that she thought Chloe was Ladybug for no reason, I like her akuma. I like the interactions we get with LadyNoir in this episode. After GoS, this episode gets a bit funnier. It’s solid. 7/10

25.  Dark Cupid- I don’t have much to say about this one. LadyNoir. That’s it. That’s the tweet. Send it. 7/10

26.  Volpina- So many things about this episode. It introduced a new antagonist who we didn’t exactly 100% know was going to be an antagonist at the time. This episode sparked a lot of fun fan theories for a while. Who was Lila? How was she going to shake things up? Not to mention this episode gave us a taste of plot and lore, and set up Marinette meeting Master Fu officially. Lots of intrigue sparked from this episode. And that LadyNoir door scene? OOOOOO 7/10

27.  Hearthunter- One word: Adrigaminette. This episode was so cute for them! I loved seeing them all goofing and running around together. Adrien and Kagami being absolutely in love with Marinette when her hair is down. They both love her, I don’t make the rules. Not to mention, Marinette takes a big step by letting her friends be happy without her. Kagami not wanting to hurt Marinette. The drama!! Gabriel being a messy ass bitch to his friends. It loses points for the abomination of an akuma, but overall, I wasn’t too mad at it. Yet. 7/10

28.  Glaciator- More MC in Cat’s top 30? It’s more likely than you think. Listen. Listen… Listen. MC is fine. This episode was the closest thing to fanfiction that we got. The balcony scene was really sweet. I was drinking the irony. We got introduced to Andre the icecream fraud. Andre the please just give me the flavor I asked for man. I could have done without Chat pouting, but the LadyNoir in the end was pretty good. I wish they’d done more with Ladybug’s feelings for Chat. Had her question herself a bit more after this one, but overall, it’s cute. 7/10

29.  Zombizou- A lot of people started hating Mlle. Bustier after this episode, and like I can kind of see it, if I squint, but I did not draw that same conclusion from this episode. Mlle. Bustier just wants good things for all of her students. They’re 14 ffs, she just wants to be a good influence on all of her students and wants them all to be successful. But go off, I guess? Plus, this episode was basically just a spoof on zombie apocalypse movies. We got so many things. Julerose, Myvan, DJWifi. Chloe actually showing some depth and emotion. LadyNoir. We won this episode, babes. Sorry you didn’t get the memo. 7/10

30.  Timetagger- Okay. This is the last episode in the ones that I’d venture to call “good.” Number 30. I enjoyed Timetagger. I know people have feelings about timey-wimey bullshit, and like I’m not gonna lie and say I’m thrilled with it either (I mean, I changed the rabbit’s power in MDCSP) but that being said, Timetagger was so sassy. Bunnix was cool as hell. We get to see that LB and CN are still doing the thing in the future. So many questions sparked from this episode. It was fun. Idk. I liked it. That’s all I got. 7/10

31.  Malediktator- Okay, from this point on, less comments because this is the section that are more or less just meh to me. Like they’re fine. This episode was fine. Chloe was fine. Chat playing with the laser was cute. 6.5/10

32.  Mayura- Adrien’s speech at the end. Nuff said 6.5/10

33.  Ikari Gozen- Ryuko/Ryuuko. Gals being pals. 6.5/10

34.  Reflekdoll- I talked about this earlier, but I don’t hate this episode. It’s not as bad as people make it out to be. Sue me. 6.5/10

35.  Anansi- Nino is the goodest boy. Also I need more of the gang taking Adrien on adventures via Facetime. Stat. 6.5/10

36.  Shanghai- This one is new, and tbh I still haven’t watched it with subs, but I had a good time. Fei was cute. The boy squad was cute. Adrien bonding with Great Uncle Cheng was cute. Hawkmoth getting literally dunked on was *chefs kiss* 6.5/10

37.  Gigantitan- I love overly supportive, ride-or-die girl squad. 6.5/10

38.  Party Crasher- Idk why this episode was funny to me. Kim is the purest bean. We don’t deserve him. 6.5/10

39.  Desperada- This episode was an emotional roller coaster, and even though we all collectively hate Aspik’s stupid egghead, we love the Ladrien this episode provided us. 6/10

40.  Oni-chan- Listen, I loved seeing Lila get a tiny bit of karma even if she made it up in the end. I loved Chat going off on her. I loved seeing her get outsmarted in the end. 6/10

41.  Frightningale- My good lesbian Clara Nightingale. We stan. 6/10

42.  Style Queen- I like Audrey in a “she’s the worst person I’ve ever met, I want to travel the world with her” kind of way. She’s funny to me. Idk. I love her firing everyone. She’s the one I love to hate. She’s the worst, but we love her for it. Plus this episode gave us Plagg’s adorable little Cataclysm that destroyed half the city. 6/10

43.  Gamer 2.0- Chat confidently strutting in heels made this episode worth it. And we get to see the beginning of Marinette being overwhelmed. Plus it was the return of gamer!nette. 6/10

44.  Troublemaker- I don’t hate this episode as much as the next person either. It was fine. Jagged is a manchild, but we love him for it. He’s a Marinette stan which like mood. The Adrinette at the end was cute. I wasn’t mad at it. Idk. It’s fine. 6/10

45.  Reflekta- Where are all my Juleka stans at? I loved the LadyNoir banter in this ep. V. cute. 6/10

46.  Dark Owl- This episode was fun. And it really shows their level of trust. Plus Plagg and Tikki interacted. 6/10

47.  Timebreaker- Have I ever mentioned that I like Alix? I like Alix. 6/10

48.  Silencer- I don’t hate this episode as much as you’d expect me to, and that is 100% because of the LadyNoir. 5.5/10

49.  Prime Queen- Chat purrs. 5.5/10

50.  Syren- I think the fish power-up is adorable. Ondine is a gem. Kim is a pure bean, but we been knew. 5.5/10

51.  Befana- I like Gina, but this episode fell flat for me. Almost as flat as the animation. 5.5/10

52.  Reverser- Another episode that everyone hates that I am actually fine with. This episode made me like Nathaniel more. Probably because I was previously indifferent toward him. Marc is cute too. 5.5/10

53.  Mr. Pigeon- Marinette is one clever girl. And the Adrinette hand-touch. 5.5/10

54.  Felix- Felix is a gremlin of chaos. A true chaotic neutral. He gives his uncle the finger, and I think that’s beautiful. 5.5/10

55.  Truth- Bet you expected this episode to be higher. While I did enjoy watching toxic people’s world crumble, this episode still gets a meh from me dog. 5/10

56.  Lies- The Adrigami was cute, and I respect Kagami as a character. The akuma could have been better tho. 5/10

57.  Princess Fragrance- Not much to say here. 5/10

58.  Copycat- 5/10

59.  Bubbler- 5/10

60.  Mime- 5/10

61.  Animan- 5/10

62.  Robostus- 5/10

63.  Ladybug- This episode ranks this low purely because I don’t care about GabeNath, and I hate that Lila won something in the end. But Adrien saying I won’t hesitate, bitch! At the end was nice to see. 5/10

64.  Catalyst- I know I ranked Mayura way higher, but Catalyst fell flat for me. Like it was fine. Wasn’t as into it though. 4.5/10

65.  Puppeteer- One of my favorite lucky charm uses. 4.5/10

66.  Pixelator- My favorite Cataclysm. 4.5/10

67.  Horrificator- That almost-Adrinette kiss tho 4.5/10

68.  Pharaoh- 4.5/10

69.  Kung Food- 4.5/10

70.  Rogercop- 4/10

71.  Guitar Villain- 4/10

72.  Dark Blade- 4/10

74.  Antibug- And now onto the bottom 10. To start us off, I will just say: UGH, this episode annoyed me. First of all, Sabrina didn’t even get her own episode. Chloe was a piece of shit. Idk why they made Ladybug the one in the wrong when Chloe was being obnoxious. Ugh. 3/10

75.  Captain Hardrock- I’m gonna be honest. My apathy for this episode has grown into loathing. Toxic stans are 100% to blame. Birthday ruining, bitches. This is the reason I threw a breakup bash after Truth. Yall deserved it. 3/10

76.  Christmas Special- I didn’t hate this episode as much as everyone, but it still wasn’t great. 2.5/10

77.  Stormy Weather 2.0- This episode was really dumb. It didn’t need to exist. 2.0/10

78.  Queen Wasp- Why did we give Chloe a Miraculous after this episode? 2/10

79.  Animaestro- Did we really need a self-insert? Did we really? 2/10

80.  Puppeteer 2.0- Listen, this episode would have made more sense in s1 or at the very latest early s2. Adrien gave a whole ass speech on how great Marinette is, then he turns around and is like idk if she likes me… Clean it up. 2/10

81.  Miracle Queen- I could talk at length about how much I hate the ending of this episode and what they did with Chloe and Master Fu, but we’re just going to remain calm and give it a solid 1.5/10

82.  Frozer- This episode made no goddamn sense. I call bullshit on so many things. Just ugh. 1/10

83.  Chameleon- Surprisingly, even though this episode sparked many, many spite fics out of me, it’s not my least favorite because at least Ladybug semi-redeemed this episode. Still really dumb and ooc tho. 1/10

84.  Feast- Okay, okay, okay, here we are. Bottom of the barrel. Cat’s most hated episode, and you wanna know why? You want to know why this episode fills me with the rage? Because we spent two fucking seasons building up all this mystery and lore and intrigue surrounding Fu’s big mistake, and they dropped the fucking ball! They did my mans so dirty! They could have really deepened his character, deepened the Order, deepened anything other than whatever fucking affair Gabriel and Nathalie have going on, but NO. They made it some stupid, bland-ass thing that got resolved magically in the end, then just ignored it for the rest of the season. I will never not be salty about how they did my boy Fu in this show. I’m happy he found his peace, but fuck if I’m not livid about how they did it. Whatever. Chat being done with Ladybug’s shit when they’re about to get eaten was funny I guess. .5/10

1.) Do you prefer to be referred by your name or blog name? I don't even know if I even written my name somewhere. Btw is Elena. I don't mind being called with my real name... nickname or both.

2.) Where are you from? North Italy, in a small city near Venice. 

3.) Do you have pets? I have a cat named Kālī, plus some stray cats that come around now and then. One of them is called Brandy (a white boy) and another one Circe (a black girl). They were actually property of some neighborhoods of mine that abandoned them. So now I feed them when they come around. Sometimes they sleep in my garage ecc... my other cat hates them 🤣 I don’t have pictures of Brandy and Circe because they rarely approach me to be petted. Still I love them and I hope they're living a nice and wild life out there.

4.) Tell us about your “dream.” Probably my biggest dream is to write a book. I love to read and invent stories myself. Unfortunately I'm quite a lazy person and I'm also very self-conscious... I'm always telling myself that the things that I do are not good enough, that I AM not good enough. I think that before writing a book I have to deal with my insecurities.

5.) Aside from art, what are your hobbies? Reading, hiking, travelling!

6.) Does anyone irl know about your blog? Easy answer: no. 

7.) Do you know anyone from your blog irl? No unfortunately!

8.) What are some fun facts about you? Even if I have a driving license I cannot drive because it scares me. I love mountains but I’m always complaning when I have to walk uphill (I’m lazy remember?). I can be either very sociable or super introvert. When I'm in my introvert phase I ghost even my dearest friends (I'm totally an Aquarius)

9.) What’s your day job? Customer care for one of the biggest public transport business in my country. If you come in Venice you can probably see me running around the train station.

10.) What’s your aesthetic? I don't really know... I think I like moody and desaturated colours. Can this be called aesthetic?

11.) What kind of artist are you? I've studied graphic design and photo manipulation. So even if I'm not a drawer myself I like to manipulate already existing pictures the most. Right now I like to use The Sims as a base. 

12.) How did you get into your form of art? I've always lived in a house were art (ancient or modern) was very important. So after middle school I've decided to attend and art school. That year the only available class was Graphic design! Then I've attended Art History and Archaeology at Uni. 

13.) What do you watch/listen/read/anything else while you create? ASMR videos, nature sounds or siging bowls. 

14.) What is your favorite of your own creations so far? mmh... as I said lately I’m using The Sims only, maybe this is my favourite.

15.) How would you describe your art style? I don’t think I have one. I like surreal paintings and photo manipulations the most, I would love to become good at that.

16.) What is more satisfying to you coloring or outlining? Definitely coloring. 

17.) What meme would you use to describe yourself?

I hate to show my weakness, so I often say that everything is fine even when I'm dying inside.

18.) If you were on the run, what would you change your name to? My favourite flower: Iris, and a random russian surname.

I think a lot of the people who fall on the “dark themes in fiction are morally wrong and you are morally evil to enjoy them” side of the literary discourse might also be the same kind of people who haven’t yet learned that it is not other people’s responsibility to manage your mental health and your trauma responses.

I think a lot of you haven’t come to grips with the fact that other people aren’t setting out to hurt you when they create or do things you find upsetting.

If I write, say, a sexual story that’s dub/noncon, I’m writing that for me and others who might like that content. I am EXPLICITLY NOT writing it for people who are triggered by that. I am not writing it because I want to hurt you. I’m not writing because I want it to happen in real life. I’m writing it because I’m exploring a fantasy in a way that’s safe, under my control, and doesn’t result in actual harm to real people. It’s my responsibility to warn you away from it, and that’s it. It’s your responsibility to disengage.

Your trauma wasn’t your fault, but it wasn’t mine either.

You know what I appreciate about What We Do in the Shadows. They got fat characters that are likable and sympathetic and aren’t just there to be a walking fat joke. Or when they’re the butt of the joke the punchline isn’t just “ha ha this fat ass,” and also, they’re not treated worse than other characters of similar caliber.

Specifically fat vampires!! I’ve literally never seen any fat vampires in popular media before, at least not any that were portrayed positively/endearingly, let alone as high society fancy types like Laszlo (yes, he’s as goofy as the rest of them are, but he’s still a Gentleman(TM) )

And Jenna. Jenna was so sweet and endearing. I never felt like she was treated cruelly; the humor around her was the very relatable humor of being tossed into a new situation that’s Just SO Much All the Time and doing your best. It’s literally such a huge deal to me that Nadja turned her because she saw herself in her (not just because she wanted a new project) and then later, when trying to teach her to be a seductive vampire lady, there wasn’t any discussion of “you have to change your whole appearance and become slender.” At most she put on a little makeup that looked like a normal person’s makeup. But she rolled up to that party with a bulky ass backpack and clothes that matched her regular style and Nadja believed in her to succeed just the way she was

And honestly I know it’s because vampiric hypnotism means you can get what you want almost regardless of how you look but that’s WHY it’s a big deal. So many other media would show this girl getting a huge makeover and aesthetic change before letting her be successful, even though it doesn’t take that big of an effort to hypnotize someone. It’s good and important to me that Jenna was allowed to stay both fat and nice-but-average looking while also successfully discovering what her special power was and getting a handle on things

And can I just say how much Guillermo means to me outside of just being another fat likable character. Maybe I don’t watch enough shows but I just. He’s a soft spoken and mild mannered Latino who dresses like an eccentric professor (and clearly has a good deal of moral complexity just given…you know) and was a baby goth that latched onto Armand for being a Latino vampire. Like hi thank you for the goth Latino representation. I can’t wait to see him fucking snap from not being appreciated I know it’s coming

Look I love the hot ripped vampires you get in most media but it’s very nice to see someone who looks like me get to be one too. I think we all like fantasizing and it’s nice to not feel self conscious in my fantasy worlds too

Hey! I love your thoughts on bad tv and I’d love to hear a series wrap up on CAOS if you want to make a post about it. If not no worries and thanks for posting your thoughts on the show over the last year. Loved them and love your blog too!

Thank you!! Sure I can totally do a series wrap up, pretty much right now, in response to this ask. 

So, if I had to distill my issues with this series into a few bullet points it would be: 

-plot -world building/continuity -characters

Plot

CAOS struggles with plot, and I think the biggest reason why, is they just seemed to completely lose track of what the hell they were doing lol. Season 1, ends up being the tightest season because the plot was simple: Sabrina’s dark baptism and her leaving her mortal life behind to become one with witchkind. They beat us to death with the Satan stuff, and they cram as much corny imagery as possible in, even if it doesn’t really make sense. 

why are they having class in a hallway? Do witches not use technology? Why is that blackboard so small? Why isn’t this just a normal classroom setting?

Sabrina’s Season 1 character arc is also clear: she decides, fuck the rules, she’s going to straddle both worlds and everyone’s just gonna have to accept it. It’s not good, but it’s clear. S2, 3, 4 get completely lost in all this other weird stuff. Sabrina is actually not her father’s daughter, but Satan’s, and that plotline goes absolutely nowhere when Sabrina conveniently doubles herself (and experiences 0 consequences for it) and rules hell while also staying in Greendale as herself (seriously, it’s not like satan was dying or anything, he was perfectly fine. For what reason did Sabrina need to become Queen? There’s no answer or explanation for that, she just...did. Ok :/).  Father Blackwood goes apeshit and pulls a Jonestown, for no real reason, CAOS starts leaning heavily into this white feminism stuff (for godsake, the coven kills a DEMON, with the fucking pain of childbirth?! Are you SERIOUS??) Then, s3, it’s about losing their powers because Satan is childish and petty, and a new group of spellcasters are out to kill the witches, and Prudence and Ambrose hunting Blackwood. S4, the eldritch terrors, which honestly, make so little sense, I couldn’t even be bothered. Each season, CAOs falls deeper into the trap of trying to up the ante, make the danger BIGGER, WILDER, more insurmountable, while being completely unprepared to stay consistent with their characters/motivations and undercutting their own BIG ideas with stupid, nonsensical solutions (let me trap this all powerful eldritch terror by taking it to a party, proposing and luring it into a magicked dollhouse...wtf?). 

Worldbuilding/Continuity

What I hate most about these writers for Riverdale and CAOS is that they just don’t feel beholden to being consistent in their worldbuilding and continuity. I don’t find anything cool about kids living in houses with old tvs and rotary phones, but then having a cell phones or wearing modern clothes. Historical anachronisms like that should serve a purpose. 

It COULD be interesting if the conceit is that Zelda and Hilda are OLD, so they take comfort in old things like that, but then that should be specific to the Spellman house, and it should be weird. People should take note of it when they’re there, Sabrina should be conscious of it because she grew up in a time where TVs didn’t look like they were stuck in the 50s. But instead, it’s just...a stupid mess of aesthetic anachronisms for no reason other than they can do it and I just find that to be lazier than utilizing those details in an interesting way. 

In season 1, we get a relatively clear idea that the witches have a certain way of life, that bleeds into season 2. It’s still very sloppy; the anti-pope, using satan where we’d use “god”, introducing the feast and other dangerous parts of being a witch, and essentially just doing the opposite of christianity (except for the racism/sexism ofc. That would require too much thinking I guess). But by season 3, essentially the witches’ way of life have been completely turned upside down. And we never...unpack that. There’s no mourning for literal millennia of supposed tradition, there’s no real floundering or struggling. There are apparently no other adults AT ALL in this magical world outside of Blackwood, Zelda and Hilda, so there’s no real way to get a sense of the REALITY of losing their way of life for these witches, or this world. Is it even a world? Or just a handful of people? Lol. What it means to have to choose a new god to pray to, and is there an divisiveness over who? In Harry Potter, the kids’ parents are tangentially involved when they start pulling their kids out of Hogwarts. Do any of these kids’ parents pull them out of the school when they start praying to Lilith and then Hecate? Do any of the boys have issues with moving from a male god to a female one? Where did all these kids come from if they didn’t have parents and families? Is this witch world just...the school? Why? It would have been interesting watching the witches struggle and scramble to regain their powers while also being hunted by this new, threatening group whose magic seems to be much older, much darker. But instead, they just pivot, and have a fucking picnic before the full moon. 

There’s nothing interesting about characters just constantly pivoting around obstacles without having any real emotional reaction, any real struggles. Obstacles like losing their powers, should be an actual obstacle. They should struggle, there should be emotional weight, and consequences. Instead, Sabrina continues to break rules to suit her agenda, put her friends and family and risk and everyone just...rolls with it. No one is angry at Sabrina for the loss of their powers? Her choice to not become Queen of hell is why they lost their powers right? No one has feelings about that? Sabrina isn’t ostracized? We never see the way these choices, or the overarching plot obstacles impact the characters emotionally. Instead, they’re doing this stuff:

Which is completely ridiculous to me. It all just...HAPPENS. Which is this entire series. Stuff happens, and the characters just, do stuff in reaction to it. Harvey, Theo and Roz are ostensibly human, living human lives. They end up getting pulled into Sabrina’s world, and no one has any strong feelings about that? Harvey’s brother is killed, Roz is turned to stone and Theo talks to his dead great aunt and none of them are haunted by any of that? No? They just decide to create a faux scooby club to fight demons?  Ok. And that cheerleading things is over as quickly as we see it. Stuff like this is insanely frustrating to watch because it makes the show a nonsensical slog to sit through. There’s nothing interesting or engaging to latch onto because they just hammer through it all and make up stupid solutions to get themselves out of the impossible stakes they threw the characters in in the first place. They introduce ideas and discard them just as quickly. An ex:angels show up, start killing people, Sabrina channels satan and kills them, and then that’s the last of those guys. Metatron (jfc even the name is stupid) shows up and is killed just as quickly.  Why bother introducing them then? Why bother do any of the things you’re currently doing in this show if you have no intention of seeing it through? 

Characters 

No one on this show gels, at all.  I don’t believe Theo/Roz/Harvey/Sabrina have been friends for ages. I don’t believe Sabrina and Nick are “end game” (why the hell do we keep saying this riverdale? It’s stupid and senseless). I don’t believe any of these relationships at all. Part of this is because the cast have no chemistry with each other:

they do not look like a friend group or couples at all, these are a bunch of people paired together.

But also because they weren’t consistent at all. 

Father Blackwood went from a witch/warlock purist, to a raging sexist, to a cult leader who killed his followers, to a raging maniac bent on hitler-esque destruction in 4 seasons...for nothing. It served no purpose. He didn’t even DO anything. He was nice to the Eldritch Terrors, and became immortal...for nothing. He killed the coven, for nothing. He killed his wife in childbirth, for nothing. Zelda stole the baby, for nothing. None of that amounted to anything worth while in the entire series. So what was the point?  Zelda marrying Faustus also made no sense and only happened to show JUST how sexist he was! But why? WHY? We don’t receive explanations for character behaviour, and when we do, it still makes no sense. 

Sabrina breaks all these rules and experiences ZERO consequences. At all times, and it makes her a terrible main character. Everyone else abides by the rules but she doesn’t and doesn’t have to pay for that? Why? She straddles both worlds instead of committing to one, and that was the closest we got to seeing consequences for her. Everyone rushes in to help Sabrina break rules instead of holding her accountable for feeling above them. Sabrina creates 2 versions of herself, and they sloppily tie in that all the realms are converging in on each other because of what she did. Except she and Sabrina Morningstar had been hanging out...ostensibly for days/weeks/months (who knows? Not this show!) before we saw any potential issues, and then we end up finding out that this is about the next eldritch terror, not about Sabrina existing as a double in 1 universe. People get upset for a second and then move on to help her. So why have rules in this world at all if it means nothing to break them? 

Nick goes through literal hell, and immediately cheats on Sabrina because of how a man made of clay looked at her. That’s laughable to me. It makes no narrative sense. Their relationship doesn’t even make sense.

Roz and Harvey spend 90% of their time almost fucking. It’s bizarre. Their getting together was random and every single scene with them alone in it is like a precursor to fucking and I don’t get why. This show does not grasp how to build up relationships. Also do these kids not have parents? Theo and Harvey stay having constant sleepovers with their respective partners, in their parents’ houses? Really? At seventeen? Lol k. 

I feel like, if CAOS were better thought out, it could have actually been interesting. But it was just a smorgasbord of stuff happening, and characters doing stuff, and none of that following in any real narrative way. Storytelling has structure for a reason, and a show with a good story structure usually yields an enjoyable watching experience. CAOS is a pretty strong example of how throwing that out and relying so heavily on aesthetics and still taking the show so seriously it’s not even fun terrible, gets you nowhere. Ultimately I’m glad it’s over.
