one of the... weirdly good thing about AI art invading the illustration field is that now, whenever i look at art that doesn't cater to my weird fucking taste, i'm able to appreciate the efforts and creativity that are put into making the artist's own personal vision come to life

I kind of miss getting to know the interior of other people’s homes. So many of my friendships in adulthood are distant, or long distance/only talking over the phone, difficult to make actual plans with because of Real Life Schedules Now, etc. etc., but like in school and stuff as a kid you can just hang out at someone’s house for a few days, have a sleepover every weekend, etc. etc. I still remember the interior of all of my childhood friend’s homes, I remember all the details to the rooms and the layout of the yards and etc. etc. There’s just something kind of neat about Knowing another person’s housing space, what the décor says about them, the history of how they came to live there and their household routines and what it’s like, etc. I feel like it can be an important part of really deeply understanding someone so it’s weird to talk to and vaguely know a handful of people, but also not even know what their bedrooms look like or how they organize the dishes after washing them or etc. etc.

on one hand, western tankies on tiktok being so happy about waving around the communist is just something I can close down as an app, I don't look at it most times and I don't have to force myself to wade thru it all
but the fact that a community continues to exist who are misled to believe that USSR communism = somehow good... it's upsetting still as an estonian person. who use the hammer and sickle as if it's some icon of freedom against capitalism. who will believe any video telling them usa bad, therefore russia/communism good - is right, without delving into specifics.
you have got to look at sources outside of western or russian ones. stop using it as a glib aesthetic to build your internet persona on. there's a lot more nuance there in the collective histories of all the countries who suffered under USSR communist rule. read any of it, try to come to your own conclusions. don't just sweep eastern european people's pain under the rug for your own benefit.
you can call yourself a socialist even, it's okay. join your former eastern bloc socialists and fight against both capitalism, communism and the imperialist systems that created them.
and for the love of good, stop giving russia the benefit of doubt about ukraine. they have proven again and again that they only care about winning, getting pieces of ukraine and causing the war to get worse. it's only going to get worse the more it is stalled. disbelief of ukrainian survivors is not helping

When you go through the entire aesthetics wiki and look at all the new-ish ones that have specifically developed on Tumblr, TikTok, and Pinterest, you start to realize that they can really be put into three categories like 75% of the time because people choose the same music constantly when they're making -core playlists so they all fit into either "Soldier, Poet, King", "Bubblegum Bitch", or "Sweater Weather".

Who do you think are the artists that reinvents the most apart from Taylor?
i’m sure there’s a good handful but if i can be myopic about my hyperfixations for a minute the venn diagram between taylor swift and paul mccartney is large and storied and album-centered reinvention is one of many bullet points

hopping around different blogs is fun.
a post on blog 1: i find it a little weird that -- don't get me wrong, the barbie movie looks great with all the doll-like details, i bet the actors had great fun and i'd like to see it myself, but -- people are getting excited about marketing of this movie. they're acting as though mattel's 3985* deals with 837* different companies are something new, exciting and creative instead of... 3985 deals with 837 companies spanning many different areas! this movie is a commercial for a doll! isn't this kinda weird?
*numbers made up
a post on blog 2: i don't think any sane adult doesn't realize that this is a toy commercial! it's rather obvious.
a post on blog 3: boo hoo 'the barbie movie is capitalist propaganda' i don't give a SHIT marx won't fuck you. did you do this for transformers too? do you think only stupid girls who like pink need the reminder?
like, oooooh! things are happening!

Sometimes when the depression hits I can make myself feel a little better by thinking about the people I know at work and how like...multiple people have told me that just knowing me has changed their opinions on things or broadened their understanding
Like. Obviously it is not the obligation of any marginalised group to explain themselves to people. Its just not, if you're curious you should do your own research and only ask people you're close to if you know theyre comfortable with it. Having said that.
My take as a trans guy (and even before that, with just. Being gay, being autistic) is that...the best way to combat ignorance is to be direct and straightforward. I have so much time for well meaning ignorance so long as people are coming from a place of genuine curiosity and willingness to learn. And I've had alot of people (my fucking boss included) tell me how grateful they are to me for being so open with my identity and willing to talk about and explain things from from perspective.
Again, and I just want to make it clear, I am in no way saying people should have this attitude. Identity is a complicated thing and you should never feel the responsibility to explain yourself to someone who doesn't know enough about it, Google exists. But...it does give me a real feeling of...Worth, I guess? Like I'm able to help educate people and hopefully change their attitudes for the better, just by being a super open trans dude who likes to joke around and explain what I feel. It's...really validating.

something I really like about your stim boards is that you don't use too much slime! Like yeah, slime is cool, but it can be hard to find stim boards that aren't all slime, and yours are diverse and really good!!
ohh!!! why thank you!!! :D
The irony is I actually really like slime lol but I don’t use it on boards a lot 😅 mostly because I really like to make boards that fit the character or subject as best as possible, like, beyond just matching colors yknow??? Like yeah making a Loki board with random things in green in gold is cool and all but it just slaps so much harder (in my opinion) if you manage to find a bunch of gifs of snakes and knives and whatnot in those colors and THEN make a Loki board 😌 but that’s just me!!
It’s like a fun game to try and hunt for the best gifs >:) like ooooohohoho do you think I can find these exact themes in these exact colors I bet I can!!!! lmao
