It was embarrassing.

Watching two grown men argue over who would drive you home from the lively, neon-lit bar led to a bashful flush, warming your body amidst the crisp darkness of the night.

Only minutes prior, Max had taken one look at you and decided home was where you should be. You didn't make any protests because he's right; you wonder if you looked like a book to Max—pages crinkled, broken spines, and easily read words in his favorite font.

"I can take my fucking girlfriend home, Max," your boyfriend, Scotty, seethes through gritted teeth, an ugly vein bursting on his forehead.

Scotty evidently did not like the idea of Max driving you home for a reason you had no idea of. You and Max had been friends for years, so if even an ounce of your yearning and want was reciprocated, he would've done something by now.

That thought did little to dwindle the stubborn 'what if's from gnawing at your soul, the twinge in your heart whenever you see Max with anyone but yourself.

And also the slight guilt at thinking of another man when you have a perfectly fine one waiting at home for you each night but. Whatever.

"I swear to fucking God if you get into that car with her--"

Eyes widening, you place a calming hand on Max's shoulder and ignore the daggers your boyfriend is glaring at your touch. "Okay, how 'bout we all relax, yeah?"

Max cranes his neck to look at you, his harsh facade melting when he catches sight of the worry etched on your face. Once his heaving turned into steady breathing, your face ducking shyly to look away from his gaze, your boyfriend cleared his throat loudly.

You hastily drop your hand like the Dutch had burned you, and Max lets out a disapproving noise at the loss of your contact. Yeah, Scotty did not look impressed. The murderous glint in his eyes did nothing to quell the uncomfortable atmosphere, his jaw flexing like he's capable of murder, of tearing Max's limbs off and letting the blood spill on the pavement.

"Scotty...to be fair, you did drink, and I don't really feel like dying tonight."

A hand creeps around Max's waist, your fingertips pinching the flesh after you hear him snort. A barely concealed yelp from the driver has Scotty scrunching his nose up in distaste, nostrils flared, and betrayal painted across his face.

You should probably side with your boyfriend, but. But the cool breeze makes the tiny hairs on your arms stand up, teeth chattering; you wrap the thin, barely-there jacket Max gave you at the beginning of the night and roll your eyes, walking to Max's car.

Fondly, Max observes the impatient tapping of your foot and flush on your face—from the cold, he tells himself, not for the same reasons as himself. He raises his brows tauntingly at Scotty before advancing towards your shaky frame.

"Fuckin' bitch," Scotty mutters into the air, lips pursed into a scowl and vodka overriding his senses.

Your ears don't quite grasp the words, but Max's do. So, when the world champion's fist paves the way for the colorful hues of a bruise to bloom on the bridge of your boyfriend's nose, you can't help but choke on a gasp.

guys, i actually love seeing your mike and max parallels, but don't go to such an extent to say that they have the same amount and type of trauma pls <3 (saying that they are 'same person, different font' lightheartedly is totally okay ofc !!!)

for ONCE theres a nuanced character with a realistic arc on how abuse affects ones perception of self and worth/how guilt comes into the picture and then you try to make it abt some other character, who DOES have trauma, but on a whole different plane? dont link max and mike like that smh, if u wanna talk abt the parallels, DO, but not that pls.

max has suffered so much due to her abuse related to b1lly where he made it seem like her loved ones hurting was her fault (a closely related thing to this is hopper's trauma where he feels like he has a curse which is then spread to people whom he gets close too) and she's dealing with him dying in such a violent way because she had a visceral reaction to it, not because she loves him. she feels guilt for wanting him to die, so that when he actually did, and died quite brutally, it made it seem like she was the one who wished for it and made it happen in her mind. its not the most rational thought process, but she's a 14 y/o teenager whose been through a lot and her perception of relationships is pretty fucked up, so yes, her trauma is still absolutely valid.

mike on the other hand is dealing w a completely different form of trauma rooted in a different reason, im not gonna talk abt him here because this post is supposed to about max, but just know that relating their trauma (not them) is not a viable option in any way.

ALSO !!! pls stop mentioning lumax in a "oooh look byler is paralleling lumax" post or vice versa. the lumax tag has less followers than the byler tag (which it shouldn't but...) and its activity will be disrupted by having posts mainly related to byler/appealing to a byler audience in it. also you can't call yourself a lumax stan when you only ever mention lumax in context w byler.

HAH… BOY DO I HAVE A STORY FOR YOU…

ok so you see. i was in an arts program in high school where i was in the same few classes with other art kids and we did group activities and other things etc etc. in my senior year i gave away half of the fucks i gave (read: i still paid attention when it counted and i got good grades but ngl id just blatantly go on my phone sometimes wkdndnd) and. you know what i was doing on my phone. thats right. WRITE FANFIC…….. and tbh a lot of those times were um. write collabs with a friend of mine and u know who u r so feel free to reply to this post if u want🙏🙏

and OK so i made friends with some of the fellow art kids right and like bc im a nerd + kept writing fic during class it did spread a tiny bit that i um. wrote fanfic. also several people wrote RPF of each other as a joke and i may have been one of them.

BUT THE REAL EVENT was that in my senior year we had to do a project on a topic of our choice and i chose online fiction. which includes fanfic. i got photo proof.

also a certain other friend actually helped me practice for this presentation the day before too so feel free to reply to this if u want and if u see this??

anyway 1. yes i used comic sans font for my presentation 2. yes i used dreamsmp as an example 3. no i dont support dream team and their many controversies but i like the lore everyone else on the dreamsmp server made and 4. um. my presentation was 17 minutes (it was not just about online fiction but the online fiction bit took up a significant portion) and all the other seniors in my class loved it 👍👍👍👍 and 5. my teacher gave me a B on my presentation slides but an A in everything else so maybe she did not appreciate the choice of photos and comic sans. i beg to differ.

yes so anyway continuing on the whole senior class within the schools art program now knew i wrote fanfic bc i made my entire project on it 👍👍 and you see. a tradition thats done in the art program is that we make paper plate awards. like you know silly little awards drawn on paper plates. i dont have a picture of mine but its. the art programs entire senior class gave me the award of “most likely to write ao3 fanfic in class”….

anyway apart from a small handful of people from my high school, my ex also knows i write fanfic. i wish him the best (he is not in my life anymore) but its also incredibly awkward knowing that he knows what fandom im active in (rezero) and my exact ao3 handle but oh well 😅

I think i have some pretty simples ones all things considered? And they’re all pretty fluid/all exist at the same time but for these

Chosen: made with they/them in mind -> experiemented with she/they/he -> had a crisis abt it -> she/her at the end

Dark: started we they/he -> she/they at the end

This isn’t really a queer headcanon (maybe?) but i do think theyre soulmates in a “whatever souls are made of, yours and mine are the same (insult)”, which is probably the closest thing i have to a queer headcanon LDNWOODOW.

I typically use they/them when discussing them in general tho!

-The moment chosen was born she immediately started being a hater. She threw the first punch (fireball?)! Why’d she do that? The moment second was born, they seemed more curious and inquisitive, but none of that curiosity happened to chosen.

-i know the popular theory is that its bcs chosen’s a virus (considering she was beaten by an antivirus in ava 2 + in a way so is tdl and tsc) but idk, they were made by alan (maybe tsc is a virus but thats a theory for another time), but i also like to think its more that chosen knew about victim in some like, unfathomable way?

-like the avatar in ATLA hahaha. Is this angst? I’m not sure. But this is why i think she immediately started going sicko mode

Headcanon 2: Chosen is the tragedy of a stick born without love

-honestly just took this one from kirby

-Chosen’s creation was definitely intentional, while Second’s wasn’t. Why are they so different? Its not like second got that much love either initially, but they did manage to get some free time.

-Second was less a literal second coming of chosen and more of a “history could repeat itself again”

Headcanon 3: Dark has nightmares about killing chosen

DISCLAIMER 1. i am aware that it is called fanfiction for a reason. this is just my opinion, and my personal views on the niragi fanfiction community.  2. todays post contains topics that may cause discomfort such as rape. now that youve read the disclaimer, lets begin.

fanfiction - what are the stereotypes?

if youve read the title, you can see this will be discussing some stereotypes. now, like i said in the disclaimer, i am aware that fanfiction can be anything, and i have nothing against those who write it; i write fanfiction too! its fun to do so. though, when it comes to niragi x readers, or any niragi fic in general, there is absolutely no fucking differences. same thing, different font. to be more specific, the same reoccurring smutfic keeps coming up. niragi is at the beach, female y/n walks in, niragi fucks around w her, he rapes her and y/n gets off on it. oh my gods i gagged a little writing that last part. 

though, the rape is not what this section is about. that will tie in later, so keep it in mind. the stereotype is a pretty average thing to find; if you try to find a flufffic of niragi, you will find likely nothing. if you look for a niragi x m!reader fic, you will probably find at most three to four posts. the same thing.  the stereotype of niragi fanfics encourages the stereotype of niragi himself and his characters image. because most of these writers try to make it as accurate as possible to the media, it usually comes across as “aggressive bitch edges girl and she likes it”. what a headline guys! 

now if youve been on my page before, you already know i have a strong opinion on niragi and i think hes a pretty complex character that people dont pay attention to enough.  with a stereotyped fanfic around a stereotyped character with a controversial fanbase you end up with something like this. though, at one point, i started to notice that people writing these fanfics were not writing this out of the intentions of something i would have, like enjoying his character outside of stereotypes. no honey, i was wrong.

rape “kink” ; the ongoing interest in niragi fanfics

trigger warning this section is absolutely fucking vile and disgusting. scroll away if you find yourself disturbed with this topic.

heres where the rape ties in. the majority of these writers were NOT into niragis character because they see beyond his stereotypes, but because of his actions and stereotypes.thats right guys! this majority of writers im talking about are into rape. thats right! rape! the thing that traumatizes and even kills people!! i even saw some creators of niragi fanfics containing rape post or note on their work that “if you dont have a rape kink, what are you even doing looking at niragi smut??”  i am not a rape victim, but i am an sa victim. you do NOT want to be raped or sa'd. it is not erotic at all. it ruins you and has long term effects on your relationships and self.  please, if you are someone claiming to have a ‘rape kink’, i am begging you, to get help. this is not a kink, and i swear it has to be some sort of mental disorder, like people who are attracted to serial killers. 

conclusion

the reason why we have fanfics like this iss because of people identifying like this.  please be sure to share your opinion; i know this one wasnt exactly the most detailed, but lets be honest... i shouldnt even have to say this in general.

this is like super random but do you have any advice for starting a thirst / x reader blog like yours? i've always wanted to give it a shot but it seems like SUPER intimidating because i have no idea how to set things up or even start

hmmm idk if im a good person to give advice but lol whatever i will!!

for the basics, i would recommened starting with a masterlist and rules, and you can build on other navigation stuff after that. a pinned post usually draws ppl in, bc its easy to navigate your blog!! and then just find a theme. i did a toga in the beginning and now a hanako theme, bc they are one of my fav characters, but u know there are tonnnnsssssss of themes and u can do whatever u want to! have fun with it 🥳

^ let me know if u need help figuring out how to link things, add colored/special fonts, banners, dividers, ect. i had to figure out through trial and error and that sucked LOL

in the beginning, dont expect to get many notes. if you go into it thinking about notes, you are going to get dissapointed lowkey. just relax, its not that deep, and eventually ppl will find your account with time. dont rush it!! but like i said, dont prioritize notes. i still am struggling with it, and so r other writers. it doesnt define ur writing at all. i had a one sentence post get like 3k notes, and then a 14k fic get like 400. literally notes dont mean shit, tumblr is weird.

also another thing. dont expect to get anons. or at least alot of them. in the beginning i had like no anons and i was lowkey kinda sad about it. but im telling u, as ur blog gets bigger u will get some. its nice to have anons in the beginning, but kinda unlikely. if smaller blogs r seeing this with tons of anons, good for you!! just idk didnt happen to me lol.

moral of those 2 paragraphs: i just dont want u to ever feel bad about notes and interactions. u may see other blogs get tons, but they have been established for alot longer than u. so do not stress about it plssssss. ive seen too many blogs make themselves feel bad because of notes and anons. and including myself, i would get unreasonably sad over something so fucking stupid.

big one: write for urself, not for others !!!!!!! once kinktober is over im bout to write an ungodly amount of hybrid and a/b/o shit, which alot of ppl dont like, but fuck it LOL.

last tip (ig?) walk into ur blog like its ur own space. dont be intimidated. i shit post and say embarrassing ass shit all the time to almost 2.5k people. its ur space, say what u want. i think thats really important. if u do make the blog, have FUN WITH IT !!! dont care what others think, make it ur safe space.

Hey Risu I think ud have some sound advice about this... I want to learn to draw n be an artist (digitally) but my brain screams when I try cos I'm new n not good at all and idk how to counteract the brain so I can draw shitty things until I get good.... Ur art is good but like, not what I'm used to seeing and it's kinda nice to see how a hobby artist art looks cos I'm so used to more professional artists who take comms on twitter)

I was thinking of doing some of my shitty art to song lyrics (they're some of my fav, I draw my ocs in some sort of pose and then slap the lyrics on top in fancy font text or write it on my drawing tablet by hand) - and just don't care how bad it looks but I'm unsure if I can get my brain to not scream at me for not being enough long enough to do it :(

Any advice would be nice <3 p.s. Listen. Brains are little bitches, ok? They LIE. They are MEAN. You need to practice telling ur brain to shut up. Like "hey, thats not fucking nice, I'm not listening to u until u have something helpful to say!" And its hard, cus its you, but with practice it gets easier to ignore ur brain being on one. Treat it like a toddler who is kicking off and calling u mean names cus u won't give it chocolate. "Thats nice dear im busy with my art". Like u gotta remember, for anyone trying to get started with art, it looks like a kid trying to draw because that's when most people stopped drawing. Same with any other skill u stop in childhood. My kid struggled so much with handwriting due to being ND that it switched to typing and guess what? Still has the handwriting u would expect from a small child. Because it stopped writing as a small child. I have the coordination with running and throwing of a young kid cus thats when I stopped doing sports. People who stop reading books young will find it harder to read books for an older audience. U do those kiddy drawings, do lots of them, you WILL get better.

Another thing. Heres a secret. For every artist, the majority of what they produce is shit. No really, all of them. Not just the crap you have to produce to git gud, but like, every amazing piece of art you have seen has like at least 5 fucked up sketches that got scrapped. Whole bits of painting that got covered up. All art is made up of mistakes and fuck ups. And even if u are sat there going wow this is perfect! The artist is DYING because they can see a hundred little mistakes that u cant. Art is all about perspective and honestly the perspective of the artist is the worst one. We are too familiar with the details to see our art for what it really is.

The thing that helped me most tho was when I went to art museums in Paris. I saw so much "good" art and im like. OK. This is technically good I guess? But it was kinda meh. The museum of modern art was the most disappointing cus, and listen I stan modern art ok there was some good shit in there, but there was a fucking rack of skis. Someone gone bought some skis and put them away and thats art. Hello? Oh someone painted some squares and came up with some deep meaning and im meant to be impressed. And then I go outside for a fag and I open tumblr and see some crappy 2 minute MSpaint vent art and u know what? It made me fucking feel. It make me feel like NOTHING in that museum had. Who is fucking deciding what "good" art is? I dont remember being consulted! I dont think I fucking agree that "good" art is good! I think shit art is good! Some fucking ship art scribbles has more meaning for me than the fucking mona Lisa, yknow?

And then I went to an exhibit of Picasso's sketches and doodles. Napkins with little scribbles on and shit. And they were so normal. Nothing impressive. And it was wonderful. I've done better sketches! I promise u u have done better than some of that stuff. Honestly so many artists aren't even "better", they're just successful. And idk but I think success is a poor way to measure arts worth.

There is a genuine magic to a hobby artist just. Doodling what makes them happy. Not for money, not for fame, not for skill, just because they want to. Art for arts sake, yknow?

Also I understand it can be very hard to share ur work but I would encourage u to do so with ppl u trust to give u fair feedback. Feel free to send me what u make I will be more than happy to tell u how great it is

What I say: I’m fine

What I mean: Mike wheeler has been established as a caring,supportive, and protective friend from very early on in the story. The only time he ever has outburst of anger/moodiness are in times when he’s under emotional distress. The entirety of season 3 Mike is acting out towards Will. Its established that Mike often takes his anger out on other people (“what is wrong with you” to El in season 1, punching hopper in season 2) Most of these times he’s angry at himself for his own shortcomings, he’s projecting. The big Mike Wheeler argument of season three isn’t him breaking up with his girlfriend, it’s him and will’s fight, where he says “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls”. Why would Mike, a caring devoted friend, someone who’s seen Will be bullied and been bullied himself, say that to his closest friend. In this context the argument doesn’t make any sense, unless mike is projecting his internalized homophobia onto Will. In this essay I will-
