Illinois Central SD70 1030 brings train 338 through the torn-up area around 16th Street in Chicago back on April 13, 1999. Canadian National had not yet taken over IC at this point, so the "classic" Illinois Central was still visible.

Clean power and white frame stripes are from a long-gone era. A friendly wave from the engineer helps make the shot.

The 1030 was built by EMD just about 2 months earlier and was still looking pretty fresh. Today, the 1030 wears Canadian National paint and is looking not so fresh.

Another Christmas Cab Unit by Will Rasmussen Via Flickr: Trainboy made a quick run down to Springfield in order to nail the NS Santa Train running out of Decatur with me. His truck came in handy to navigate the 5+ inches of snow that fell during the overnight and morning hours. Another nice series of runbys were performed by the fine equipment of the Monticello Railway Museum with Wabash F7A 1189 leading the way at Righter (Harristown, IL).
