today (as everyone knows or should know haha) is the 11th anniversary of one direction (🥺❤️) and although i was looking at memories of previous years, can we talk about how crazy last year’s anniversary was???

yeah, we know it was the craziest thing we experienced in the 1d fandom in a long time but it was really like WOW

i didnt expect anything and the surprise that i got was the best thing that happened to me last year, that day and all that week was my escape from reality aka pandemic

on the 22nd, the 1d account was active for the first time in a long time and they uploaded their first instagram story!!!

during the day they added the EPs rarities, live, acoustic and remixes and the songs truly mandly deeply, magic and irresistible; and at 00:00 on the 23 they were available along with the background videos of all the 1D songs on spotify. furthermore the 1d account changed its profile photo and header on all platforms and updated their website

in addition, also at 00:00 the special website for the 10 years came out

fun fact: someone created an account and a website called reason being. the website was redirected to the 1d website and all twitter and tiktok was convinced that they were going came back with another name jahdjahdjshs

during the early morning of the 23rd, interviews came out (by capital, spin radio, bbc and we even thought that an interview was going to come out on iheart radio and it ended up being this ahsjshwjsjs🤡) and this beautiful short video

the first to appear was liam who posted this beautiful photo on ig (he also tweeted) that confirmed that 1d was formed at 8:09 pm and not at 8:22 pm as for 10 years we believed HAGDJSJS

then louis appeared uploading a tweet MENTIONING EVERYONE INCLUDING HARRY AND ZAYN. the first time in years and years that this happens and we all died :D

then niall appeared and L, Li, N and the 1d account were active and interacting with each other (im not going to include all the ig stories of the 1d account because they also uploaded it as posts and to twitter lol) until BOOM louis uploads a 1d photo and we could see the face of his husband, his ex-bandmate and his other bandmates at the top of his feed for a while 💞 (and anne shared lou’s photo #supportyourfamily)

finally harry appeared 🥳 and all the accounts interacted together for a while <3

four boys had appeared, the one direction account was very active, nothing could be better until it was better because LOUIS BEGAN TO FOLLOW HARRY AND ZAYN ON IG

THE WORLD STOPPED WHILE HOME WAS BEEN PLAYED *bluegreenermodeon*

i wasnt expecting something (nor anyone, except tiktok) and still the BEST thing that could happen to us happened

thanks to louis’ follow, we realized that harry didnt follow his mom (lol) and there was a discussion about whether he could hide his follows because there were people who counted harry’s follows and supposedly the number of follows when they counted them didnt match with the one that ig showed

then the 1d account said they were going to upload the music videos in 4k and as always, there were already people *twitter moment* waiting for the infinity video ahsjwhdisjs

the fuckers who managed the 1d account uploaded “we’re back” referring to the website but we all had a mini heart attack

the website for the anniversary was very nice and it brought back lovely memories. when you finished checking everything there was an envelope, which was opened on the 28th and it was a video of san siro that lasted one day :/

from the 24 to the 28 the 4k videos were uploaded and the audios of all the songs were uploaded too (one album per day)

and the 1d account remained active (even uploaded polls) until the 29th when they said bye :(

the amount of things that happened those days is equivalent to everything that happened from 2016 to 2019 together basically

those days the excitement was through the roof, the new fans were having their first live experience in the fandom and we had a lot of fun trending #directionersbreaktheinternet hehe

so this year im not only going to celebrate 11 years of 1d but im going to celebrate the first anniversary of the 10th anniversary because that fucking week was the most fun i’ve had in years

happy 11 years to 1D and to us ❤️

this is apparently a wildly unpopular opinion but 90% of the fandom already hates me and im having a bad day so. im so freaking exhausted at people always complaining about things having to do with louis. especially “bad promo” like..things are so wildly different than they were in 2017. look at miss you’s promo vs now! things are so fucking good!! 2017 it was nothing music focused, only stunts, and barely getting to release or do anything at all with music. like miss you there was literally nothing, no promo at all. the past promo seasons have been incredible. wmi is the radio focused single and it’s been doing SO well especially for not a traditional pop song.

and like for walls like..you dont do promo for the song and then also album promo. you cant do the same outlets and same interviews and appearances within two weeks, not even it being smart like places legit wont book you. so i imagine theyre focusing on the album promo and more will be coming. the point of releasing a song right before dropping an album is to have a song for album promo performances and just to keep the person relevant (hello harry dropping adore you) and walls the song is doing absolutely incredible - the music video is getting an insane amount of buzz, and appearances like todays are such a wonderful way of starting it back up and getting him back into the gp before they go full force for album. but a full promo routine wont happen for the song until it’s album specific.

is his team perfect? no of course not (hello at the mishap with the music video dropping, uk focused everything, stalkers still having rights and not being launched into the ocean via cannon). but theyre also doing a lot of stuff REALLY REALLY RIGHT. and there seems to be this mentality of “everything is awful” when it isnt. at all. and it’s just like people are being negative for negative’s sake. like we can admit shit has changed and can be happy while still admitting it isnt perfect. like of course we all want stunts and everything to go away - but it’s not an easy process and they are moving in that direction - and very obviously so. be patient pleaseeeeeeeeee it’ll happen, i have zero doubts about that but if we want louis to come out on top in the end, it’s a process. and theyre working on it. but the focus is music which is!!! all we’ve ever wanted!!

also like why are we never focusing on how happy louis looks??? he seems so pleased and so excited about how things are going, and i just!! thats all that matters!! he could have shitty af promo and i wouldnt care as long as he was happy! he likes the way things are progressing, he LIKES his promo having an indie artist focus, he seems genuinely really on board with how things are going. idk i trust louis and if he’s happy why does anything else matter!!!!!!!!! good things are happening, louis is pleased, be positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and be nice!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Swiftie Story:

I grew up in a very religious home. I went to public school from kindergarten up until 5th grade. Once I turned 10, my parents noticed a lot of violence going on at my school and they decided to send me to a private school instead.

I noticed that my parents never appreciated my interest in secular music. I liked to listen to Taylor, in fact “Our Song” was one of the first songs I learned as a child.

One of my best friends was a big fan of One Direction during this time. Every time I would go to her house, she would teach me a new song. I would be excited to tell my parents about the song I learned, but instead they were mad at me. They told me that I shouldn’t listen to “worldly” music, it’s “of the devil.” I didn’t get to hang out with that friend very often after that incident. And since I started going to private school, I was pretty much cut off from the outside world.

When I became a teenager, I became more interested in secular music. I used to wake up early everyday to listen to “worldly” music before everyone else woke up. This was right as 1989 came out, and I listened to “Blank Space”, “Bad Blood”, “Shake It Off” and “Style” on a daily basis. Every once in awhile, I would mix it up and listen to “Should’ve Said No” and “Our Song” to bring back nostalgia. Those handful of songs were the only Taylor Swift songs I had been exposed to, and I loved all of them.

Once I could drive, I bought the 1989 CD and hid it in my car. I loved listening to it! I always looked forward to driving because I knew I was safe listening to it there.

During the summer of 2016, my mother informed me that she had decided to divorce my father. She said she’s “tired of trying to be someone I’m not”. Soon after that, I learned that my dad had been emotionally abusing my mom for years. He tried to make us seem like the picture perfect Christian family, when none of us actually practiced Christianity in our household. Hearing of this, I was angry at my dad for forcing us to live that way. He stripped me of a normal childhood.

I soon realized that mom is actually super chill. She never cared if I listened to secular music. She let me listen to different music, she let me change the radio from the Christian station to the pop station. I never realized what I was missing out on.

At that point, I was a junior in high school and the 1989 era was winding down to an end. One night, at around midnight, I saw that Taylor had just posted a new lyric video. So of course I had to watch! I didn’t know anything about the song being released, but I was there the second “Look What You Made Me Do” was released. And I remember thinking “oh my god”. From then, I was so excited for Reputation. I listened to every single and watched every music video as they came out.

I told my mom about Taylor’s new album, and I told her that I wanted it more than anything. She didn’t care if I bought it, but she told me to wait.

And so I did.

My dad was struggling with depression since the divorce. He tried so hard to please me. He knew what he did, and he was trying to make up for it.

On Christmas Day, my dad asked to come over to visit. He sat me down, and sobbed. He said he was sorry for being a bad father for all those years. He said he was struggling financially. He couldn’t afford to get me much for Christmas, but he made me a decoration for my room. I was lovely, and I really did like it. And then the unexpected happened, my dad handed me the Reputation CD. I guess my mom told him that’s all I wanted. It was so shocking to me. After all those years of listening to Taylor in secret, he handed me the CD for me to listen to freely.

I listened to Reputation everyday, I learned all the songs in two weeks. Every song was so good! I would tell my friends about it and urge them to listen to it as well.

In March of 2018, I started dating a boy. One of the first things I told him was “I love Taylor Swift”. He said he also liked Taylor and that his family has listened to her for years. We talked about the Reputation Stadium Tour, Taylor was scheduled for a show in St. Louis in September.

On our six month anniversary, my boyfriend surprised me with tickets to see Taylor. I screamed, I cried, I was beyond excited! Our seats were the first row up from the floor, however his mom bought floor tickets for his two sisters, so we could swap places as we pleased.

The day rolled around, September 18th 2018, at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri. I saw Taylor Swift. I sang every song from Reputation, but I was a little lost when she sang older songs.

As Taylor was singing “Gorgeous”, I was dancing and singing until an nice older man stopped me. He just smiled and handed me a handful of guitar pics with Taylor’s face on them. I smiled so big and thanked him! A couple people asked me if they could have one and of course I shared with them. (I realize now that WAS TAYLOR’S DAD AND I ACTED LIKE A COMPLETE IDIOT, SO HI SCOTT IM SORRY FOR THAT CHEESY SMILE)

After Taylor performed “Shake It Off” and “Dancing With Our Hands Tied”, she traveled to another stage that was closer to where I was. My boyfriend and I ran to get a good spot. I stood FEET away from Taylor as she performed “Blank Space” and “Dress”. I’ll insert a clip.

Before the Reputation tour, I wouldn’t have considered myself a Swiftie. After watching her breathe, smile, dance, sing, and give her all during that performance, I knew that I’m no longer just a fan. I’m a Swiftie now.

Since I was sheltered for such a long time, I hadn’t listened to a lot of her music. I didn’t even own all of the albums. I still don’t know a lot of her songs, but I’m getting there.

Before SB gained the rights of Taylor’s past work, I owned “Taylor Swift”, “Fearless”, “1989” and of course “Reputation”. I was angry at myself for not buying the albums before he would make money off of my purchase. But then I got to thinking, he can’t make money off of discs that have been purchased previously. I searched EVERY RESALE STORE I COULD, and thank god I found both “Speak Now” and “Red”. Take that SB, you thought you could make money off of me.

So as of a few days ago, I own all of Taylor’s albums and I’m learning new songs everyday! I’m so happy that I finally feel like I belong here. Even if I’m fairly new to the Swiftie world, there’s such much I’d like to learn and moments I can’t wait to share with you guys.

rant about music~

OH MY GOD this makes me feel so warm and fuzzy I can’t stop smiling. Thank you so much. I’m so grateful for this opportunity.

This is gonna be so messy just prepare yourself.

I have to say, right now, my favorite band is City and Colour. I’ve been saying that for awhile, maybe half a year or even a year, god it’s been a long year. I’ve bought two concert tickets to see him. I had to sell the first one (it was a really good seat, third row :(..) but hopefully I can see him with his band with my other ticket (general admission smh) and once more on a fully solo tour like the first ticket I bought.

One Direction comes next as always but each individual member of one direction is ranked differently… louis, harry, liam, and niall in terms of whose music I care most about. I know louis has only put out one collab so far but he’s my favorite,of course I’m most excited for his stuff.

AND I BOUGHT A TICKET TO SEE HARRY HOLY FUCK !!!! I GOT A SEAT IN SECTION 5 IN PHOENIX SO FUCKING CLOSE TO THE STAGE. I GOT SO LUCKY BECAUSE I WAS A COUPLE MINUTES LATE AND I GOT AN AMAZING SEAT. THE PIT IS IN FRONT OF ME AND SO IS 30 OTHER ROWS BUT THATS IT IM GOING TO BE IN THE SAME ROOM WITH HIM AND HEAR HIS BEAUTIFUL CROONING VOICE LIVE AFTER 5 LONG YEARS. I’m just trying to imagine doing the same with louis and my head is exploding. Shoutout to my mom for letting me use her debit card since I haven’t got any paychecks yet.

Protest the hero is an anomaly in my life, I really haven’t been into them in like over a year, but they remain top 3 because I can’t let them go. I love all of their albums (except I only listened to their most recent one once rip) but if I ever got to see them live I would know almost every song IF NOT every single one by heart and that’s an experience I haven’t gotten to have yet. Hopefully twice this year I’ll have that. Maybe I’ll look out for a protest the hero tour and see if I can swing a ticket.

After that it’s really hard to rank everything. I have my favorite albums that differ from favorite artists.

Alt-J is high on my list. They’ve put out some really good shit. I liked An Awesome Wave multitudes more than the other album. I’m hoping his most recent one kinda brings them back to that era.I wish I could travel to the U.K. to see Aquilo. Their album Silhouettes is the best fucking album EVER and yet they’re so small they can only tour their tiny home country. They need more recognition.The Shins are coming to a local venue only a couple hours away and it blows my mind because I fell in love with Wincing the Night Away but they have a plethora of other albums that I didn’t love and I wouldn’t feel right going to a concert where I only knew like 3 of the songs. I wish they did a Wincing the Night Away revival tour where they only sang songs from that album just to appease me lmao.Kendrick’s new album is such a mindfuck. That’s been on repeat the past few weeks. I need to listen to his other stuff too.Sweet Sexy Savage by Kehlani is the genre I’ve been really into lately. That sultry R&B pop is just SO delicious. It’s like nothing else I’ve ever heard before. Her voice is like brown sugar and butter. Everything she does with the instrumentals, her voice, and the backing track is just MIND BLOWING I love it so much.Of course The Weeknd has to come in here. I just saw him live a week ago. It was the best concert I’ve ever been to (the only other one was Taylor swift. She sounds good live, but I’m not a huge fan). STARBOY IS THE BEST ALBUM EVER SERIOUSLY. I was a bit disappointed he didn’t sing more tracks from Starboy because I didn’t know some of the ones from his older albums. Also perpetually disappointed that kendrick never showed up for sidewalks.

Old Crows/Young Cardinals by Alexisonfire has been very high on my list lately. Reminiscent of protest the hero for the reasons I like them, but their voices are COMPLETELY different. It always takes me awhile to get used to screaming and really rough jagged voices, but once I do, I’m either head over heels in love with them or I fucking hate them. Usually the former. If Dallas Green (city and colour) wasn’t involved in this band, I would have never touched them.

Spirit by Depeche Mode has also been a genre I’ve got into lately. I just kept seeing the same fucking google ad every time I opened the app “Spirit by Depeche Mode is out now!” why the FUCK google gave me that ad I don’t know, but it caused me to find one of my most treasured albums. It’s very politically charged which I LOVE. I see the message of each song loud and clear as a movie in my head and it makes me fall deeper in love with it each time.

Now I’ve forgotten everything else, so I’ll start going through albums alphabetically.

Arctic Monkeys is a band I really need to listen to more. I’ve only listened to A.M. once fully through and only stuck with a couple of the songs. I listened to Humbug and liked it a LOT more, so I have a feeling I’ll love their older stuff.

Ahhh how could I forget about CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN. God I spent an hour on YouTube watching them play old versions of The Balcony the other day, it was the best live video I’ve ever watched. He sounded even better than on the album, and I was transported to those shows for that moment where he seemed to be playing in some seedy basement. I wanted to see them live last year for my birthday but didn’t get a ticket. Maybe I’ll be able to get one sometime soon. That’s a band I NEED to see live before I die. They are fucking amazing. Their songs are everything I love about bands.

I’ve listened to a bit of Two Door Cinema Club. I need to listen to more. It’s hard with Apple Music. As you can see I have so fucking much to listen to and it never ends. I think I like music… a lot more than most people. It’s weird to think about. But anyway. Sun, that’s a good song.

Space Oddity by Bowie makes me feel high. R.I.P.

Frank Ocean has been a recurring name lately. Chanel and Self Control are two gems of his.

Cold by Maroon 5 and Future is one of my guilty pleasure songs. I could listen to it for hours and it wouldn’t get old. I don’t even know why I find it so orgasmic.

Cake is one of those bands that wormed their way into my heart a long time ago and I don’t really know how or why and I haven’t listened to enough of their songs because they have too many albums and they’re all from the 90s and I’m so young yet I feel so old when I listen to them. It makes no sense and I love it.

I’m a fan of Blackbear’s new album digital druglord. Very different from what I usually listen to. I don’t always have a usually, but when I do, Blackbear’s not in it.

Message to Bears is the best study music. They’re what I put on when I need to have a quiet night with some undertones of depression and existential realization. Still one of my low key favorites that I always forget about.

Oh, every time I get the chance to rant about this I will. Little Hell by City and Colour is an album about going from Catholic to atheist, and each song is showing his progression in realizing that. Now this is just my headcanon, but with the first song being about “finding each other in the dark” sounding suspiciously like someone finding God and the last song being a blatant message on being raised religious but rejecting the “make believe” stories. I could theory craft on this album all day. It has seriously made me reconsider naming Sometimes, his first album ever, my favorite, and instead reclaiming Little Hell, City and Colour’s third studio album, as my new favorite. But since it’s just a theory and I have yet to confirm or deny anything, I’ll keep it at my second.

Listen… I know he’s a snake but Zayn’s album was actually really good. I literally haven’t touched it for a year but I really enjoyed it for a long time.

I like the Radiohead quote. I’m not like that at all but I can get into their music, like Nice Dream. Maybe because when I found that song I would have related to that quote. Music is so strange, man.

The Beach Boys, Coldplay, The Boxer Rebellion, Fun., Syd Matters, Breton, The National, Secret & Whisper, G-Eazy, and Bastille all get honorable mentions for being some of my favorites at one point in time.

I hate how into music I am. But I love it so fucking much. I remember in 2010 when I bought a Britney Spears song on the radio and I decided to listen to the mixtape my friend made me because I needed some new music. It changed my life forever because it opened me up to a whole new world that I had never heard before. I’m eternally grateful to her for introducing me to musical curiosity. I will never get over it and I don’t want to.

Despite what I’ve written, I’ve only just now realized how much music I have on my Apple Music library that I’ve literally added and never listened to. I need to work on that.
