My account is truly ancient, and I've drawn for so many fandoms and some of the over decade old drawings are still in circulation, and just by experiencing how fandoms interact with them I have gained knowledge I don't know what to do about,,,

Something I've been thinking about is how Patrick O'Brian manages so skillfully to write characters whose actions contradict their beliefs, which I think is honestly a big part of why his characters feel so real. Mostly with Stephen and Jack—e.g., and perhaps most notably, Stephen has notably leftist sympathies (honestly I have no idea how to characterize his politics in period terms) who nonetheless becomes very comfortable with his rise to the landed gentry, while Jack is a card-carrying Tory who much of the time sympathizes far more with working class sailors and farmers than with the upper classes—but I'm sure he does it to a lesser degree with some of his minor characters (James Dillon, while perhaps not precisely minor, comes to mind), and I love that he's able to do that, especially the way in which he embeds it in the narrative. We see how they're all unreliable narrators of themselves; we understand how they want to be seen and how that does and doesn't coincide with the reality, but most importantly, this isn't presented as something reprehensible, just as a part of their own humanity. They are not their expectations for themselves, but they don't need to be those expectations to be beloved.

I adore every moment that Maia thinks about what his father would have done and actively chooses to do the opposite, to choose compassion even when it's hard and goes against his instincts
His internal pov is very self-deprecating and draws attention to his own perceived weaknesses as a baby emperor, but it must take so much bravery and strength to continue to try to be compassionate, to not choose cruelty, especially towards people that disdain him or want to use him for their own gain

gale is ambition, so he has both crippling self doubt and debilitating pride in his work.
gale is ambition, so if a character tries to undermine him by one-upping him, he'll think he's not nothing left. more else can the orb destroy that it hasn't already?
gale is ambition, so if a character tries to undermine him by one-upping him, he'll vehemently deny that. he's the wizard of waterdeep. he was mystra's chosen. he was her lover. who could be any better than that?
gale is ambition. it's his greatest flaw and his greatest asset.

one of the things I shall have to think through now is how to switch to a new church, on account of things going down Real Bad at my current one, and a plethora of headache-causing reasons that I am too tired to go into, but suffice it to say........ I can't stay at this one long-term and I need to figure out how to a) say goodbye and b) find a new community

This sounds so silly but i’m actually kind of glad my body physically gave up on me this week & that i’m on day 8 of stress-induced vertigo that literally stops me from functioning (w/ varying levels. i could function ystdy ok but i obviously overdid & i can’t walk again today!). bc before this not going to lie i never actually believed ppl when they said you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others bc i’ve always just pushed myself through it (to my detriment!! but nevertheless i am always able to do it). but those were all difficult mental periods that i ignored bc my body could always still push through the motions. i’ve never had my body physically give up purely from mentally/emotionally overextending myself before & now i’m like ohhhhhhhhh. Everybody maybe had a point and i do not know everything in the world ❤️

one thing i ask of you guys is to never call yourself a fan of mine. you're not a fan, you just enjoy lykaia. (and i love that lol) also i am no sort of entity to be a fan of. i just write a story and share it. a creative, sure, but not a creator in that sense. and i don't want that to sound like i don't appreciate the support because i do! just understand we're on equal footing. we've got a shared interest, that's all!

♡ for Gregory (or Griss, if you're not afraid of the therapy bills from that kid)
Dragon ♀ / Sage ♀
Pure concentrated genki. Sweet, agreeable, and friendly, but has her hot-headed moments. Likes to fight and thinks victory is thrilling. Does not like to lose
Stylish! No daughter of Rafal and Gregory is going to run around looking like a street urchin. Wears and treasures the outfits the latter makes
Strong sense of justice and doing what's right, absolutely cannot stand by when people are getting hurt, and is willing to suffer pain for that ideal. A torch bearer to both parents' sense of self-sacrifice
Grew up isolated and sheltered, but loved. Adored by her fathers who give her the love they never received from their own parents. Lived in the forest together with them where they honored 'a quiet life' for a time (i.e., Gregory's ending)
One day everything changes...the country girl must enter the big city...
Character Arc: Undertakes a coming of age, Samurai Champloo-esque journey and scours the entirety of Elyos looking for her missing parents. 'Have you seen the pale dragon that smells of sweets?' Rafal being a Fell Dragon and Gregory being a fell disciple with Griss' face means that persecution of their child is inevitable. Love is not only staying close, but staying away to keep her safe. This lonely little princess waits for the day she can give them a piece of her mind
Chronically messy hair despite her best efforts. Two clueless first time dads means she had to learn the in's-and-out's of girlhood all by herself
Army Superlative(s): Most likely to lie and be caught, brightest smile in the army, the one who talks out loud the most when thinking
