“Hello?”
“Hello.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. You didn't recognize this deep voice talking to you.
“Who’s this?” Instead of hanging up, your gut feeling tells you to continue the conversation with this stranger. Maybe you’ll get something out of it.
“You don’t need to know about me. I just want to talk to you.”
“Now why should I do that? Stranger danger. Didn’t your parents teach you that?” You saunter around the kitchen counter and stare at the sets of kitchen knives. You pull out a cleaver and wait for them to reply.
The stranger chuckled, amused with your response.
“Just want to call you so I get to know you better.”
You poked your tongue inside your cheek. You put the knife back in its place, humming to yourself.
“Alright, Mr Stranger. You got my attention and I'm bored as hell. Shoot your million dollar question.” You leaned your back on the counter, hand in pocket while another's still holding the phone.
“Tell me, do you like scary movies?”
“Uhh, yeah.”
“What’s your favorite scary movie?”
“Does The Addams Family count? 1991 is the best.” You shrugged, checking your nails. The voice grumbled, annoyed with your movie choice.
“That’s not even a scary movie. And it’s a kid show.”
“Excuse me, that movie is my fave and you don’t get to judge my beloved Morticia Addams just because I watch a ‘kid show’. Besides, that movie is still considered horror okay. Take examples like Tim Burton’s production. Even though most of his movies are suitable for children, he still wants to insert horror elements so they could find comfort and won’t make them feel scared anymore. You should try Nightmare before Christmas or maybe Edward Scissorhand for starters.” you jested.
“Not my kind of style. Edward is weird as fuck.”
“Oh now you’re crossing the line Mr. Nobody. Fun fact for you, Johnny Deep with or without heavy makeup is hot as fuck. Hell, if there’s any Johnny copycat out there, I’ll ride his dick straight away.” you mused. The audacity of this guy.
The stranger hummed.
Is it creepy that I can see him smiling through the phone?
“You should be careful what you wish for. It might come true.”
“Then, Amen for that. I ain’t regret what I said so if you have a problem with it, you jerked your tiny dick somewhere else.”
He chuckled darkly.
“So, do you have a boyfriend?”
"What if I have one? Or maybe a girlfriend? What ya gonna do about it?” You rolled your eyes.
The phone went dead silent until a deep growl came out on the line. His voice changed to menacing.
“You don’t have a boyfriend. You’re not even lesbian.”
“Slow down tiger. I can change my preference wherever I want. Anyway, congratulations! You’re successful become from a total stranger to a fucking creep. Now no more games with me. What do you want?” You huffed, getting annoyed and a little creep out with his manic voice.
“Oh baby, you think this is a game? I’ll play a real game for ya. Knock, Knock.”
You yelped when you heard someone banging on your front door.
Shit. Wrong move.
You pull out a metal bat under the counter like you knew this would gonna happen and check around, especially every closed door inside the house. You already watched too many horror movies with Randy that you even know where the killer always comes out from.
“I ask you want more time. What the hell do you want from me?”
“You wanna know, you have to play the game with me.”
You jumped when you heard another banging. And this time, at your backyard.
“Knock. Knock.”
You gulped and took a glimpse at your back. As you saw nobody's there, you pressed your back on the wall and focused on the front door.
“Who’s there?”
You make sure all the doors and windows are already locked as your father went out training with his buddies. He says he will be coming home late.
Double. Shit.
“Johnny.”
You innerly scoffed. Oh he likes this game too much.
“Johnny where?”
“Clever girl. Guess.”
You rushed to the front door and took a look outside from the window. No one was there. You blurted out the answer.
“The backyard.”
“Wrong.”
You shrieked as the sound of a crash came out from the living room. You ran there to see a big gape hole at your now shattered window. You scanned the whole room. Only one wooden chair and shattered glass all over the floor.
He couldn’t make it inside that fast. You raised the phone as you heard his voice.
“I give you a second chance. Knock, knock.”
“Oh fuck you with your knock knock shit game! What do you want from me?!”
“I want you…to ride me.”
You inhaled sharply at his answer as you turned around with a bat raised in front of you.
“You’re messing with the wrong person here.” You spitted. He chuckled mockingly, amazed that you still have a bit of spite even though you know you're about to lose the game.
“You should be asking where I am, (Y/N).” He enunciated your name deeply.
Sweat trickle down your temple as you took a step back one at the time. This stranger knowing your name just shot up your nerve haywire.
“Where the fuck are you shithead.”
“Behind you.”
You turned around and hit the phone right to the side of his face.
His Ghostface leather mask to be exact.
He covered his head from the hit with his gloved hand and you took that opportunity to bash his head with your metal bat. He doubles in pain as you hit his back with more force and knocks his feet to the floor. He lay on his back, gripping his back painfully as you stepped on his body.
“Now let’s see who's behind the mask.”
Before you could bend down to grab his mask, the air got knocked out from you as someone rammed from your side. Your head got slam on the floor hard followed by a body that stumbled right above you.
There’s two of them?!
You tried to pry him off from you but it was no use. You could see from your blurred vision that two masked men were now crowded right in front of you.
The first guy above your head took both of your hands and held them tight, giving out a painful moan from you, while the other one sat on top of your low waist between his thighs, securing your legs from moving.
You tried to trash your body only to feel a sharp knife under your throat. You looked up to see the second guy shaking his head.
A warning.
“Looks like you lost the game.” Second ghostface seems satisfied seeing you beneath him. The knife in his hand trailed lower and lower to your neck. You could feel a prick of pain as the knife cut deep at your collarbone.
“Losers need to pay the price.” The first ghostface giggled, bringing out a rope from his black robe and tied your hand above your head.
“Two against one? Really fair, does it?” You gritted your teeth. Even though you’re already at their mercy, your mouth still runs like a goddamn sailor.
“Didn’t know this should be a fair game.” Second ghostface shrugged, still lingering his knife around your neck area.
“So what? You gonna kill me?”
“Careful, you shouldn’t challenge a killer with a knife. Now you said it, that does sound tempting.” The killer dragged down his knife to your waist. The cold of his blade sent chills down your spine as it put pressure on your stomach, emphasizing his words.
You gulped as you eyed the two ghostface. The one that sat on top of you seems like a person you don’t want to mess with. The way his voice held authority, meaning if he wants to kill you, he’ll make sure you’re good as dead. Even though he’s wearing a mask, you could feel his hot gaze on your throat to your collarbone that already bleed out from the small cut. His gloved hand reached out, smearing your oozing blood with his thumb. He loves it, you can tell.
Another one above your head, however he's a different kind of persona. He seems to like goofing around and having fun stabbing his victim. More sadistic, more of an unhinged bastard. If he takes his mask off, you bet he'll be that funny, easy going guy. His head tilted to the side, staring at your body in awe. Like you'll become his biggest meal tonight.
"But since you beat my friend here, I'll give you a chance. If you want to live, you need to do something for me." He hinted at the end of his sentence. The first Ghostface started to laugh hysterically.
Somehow you know what he meant, knowing what they're gonna do to you.
"What do you mean?" You shuddered.
In a split second, he pulled your body and switched position, making you on top of him. You could feel the bulge between your legs as his hands gripped your waist.
"You know what I meant."
Your whole body shivered in fear and excitement. You don’t know why your body react that way. Fear, yes but also excites you?
You already soaked in your panties, though it was the adrenaline of the chase.
You subtly rubbed yourself on his groin. He sighed in content as you kept rubbing his hard on.
“That’s it, babe.” His breath ragged as both his hands moved your hips and pressed deeper to his crotch. His hips thrust to your core, making you let out a soft moan.
You feel someone's hand held the back of your head, turning you to meet the first Ghostface. His gloves were already gone from both hands, as he’s working on to half-done his zipper jeans.
“Open your mouth, kitten." He slipped his thumb, pressing your lips to open. He inserted two fingers in and out as you swirl your tongue around his fingers. They were so long that you gagged as it reached at the back of your throat. When he pulled out his fingers, a string of saliva coated them.
“I’ve never done this before.” Your face was red, embarrassing to admit that you never had sex before.
“We know you’re a virgin.” He whispered. His thumb stroking your lower lip, his mask titled to the side.
“Don't worry about that. We promise to make you feel good, m'okay?" The Ghostface under you sat up, his hand tugged teasingly at your waistband while the other one caressed your cheek. His deep voice is surprisingly tender, luring you in like a moth to his flame.
Without thinking, you nodded at his words.
Beneath those masks, their smirk grew wider, finally getting you hooked with them.
"Lift your hips for me, baby."
He tore his gloves from his hands and guided your hips upward. As you stand on your knees, he tugged down your shorts and panties in one go. You gasped at how rough, desperate he wanted to strip you naked.
He took out his knife and started to rip them in half. You shiver from the cold as your clothes discard aside.
A pair of hands from behind reach out to your breast and fondle them. You whimpered as he pulled and squeezed your nipples. Another hand slipped to your wet cunt, thumb circling your clit.
"Gosh, your pussy is so wet for us. We're just getting started." He mused. Slowly, he inserted two fingers inside you, thumb still rubbing your clit. You shuddered, your back laid on someone's chest, who still continued grasping your breast.
"Look at you, seeking pleasure from two psychotic serial killers. Ain't ya a dirty little slut." The one from behind cackled in manic, enjoying seeing you completely vulnerable for him.
You subconsciously ride your hips with his fingers inside you, reaching your high. Your tied arms pressed in front of his chest as his friend from behind starts to dry hump your ass. You could imagine how big their dicks are, one pressing from the back while the other one underneath your pussy, still finger fuck you.
As if they knew you're about to come, he pulled out his fingers. You let out a small whine, feeling the loss of your pussy to be filled. He dip his finger beneath his mask, groaning in pleasure as he tasted your juices with a mix of blood.
Your hair got clutched from behind and dived you to his tent. When he pulled down his boxer, you were awestruck at how thick and veiny his hard rod is. He tapped his dick on your mouth, precum smeared at your lower lips.
"Like what you see?" He chuckled, seeing you looking at his cock like that got him more turned on.
You flustered, eyeing the two black holes resemble eyes staring at you, silently to gain his permission. He nodded, pushing his tip further into your lips.
You subtly open your mouth, licking his precum and heard his deep groan in return. This made you sucked and licked his tip and moved your hand up and down his length.
He tilted his head back. Though you couldn't see with his mask on, a sense of pride grew in you, pleased to see him feel that way.
"You're sure this is your first time? Fuck, this feels amazing." He bucked his hips in your mouth.
"Open your mouth wide open, tongue down. I'm a deep throat till you swallow all of my cum." You do as he said. He thrust his dick deep in your throat, making you gagged but you held it in.
He fucked your mouth relentless, both his hands keeping you in place. Tears pooling down your face as saliva spilling from your mouth until your nose touches his pelvis. You tapped his thigh, coughing up when he pulled out his dick from your swollen lips.
You're too focused on the man in front of you, that your ass was raised in the air and gasped as you felt a tongue licking at your entrance.
"Damn I can eat this pussy all day." He growled from behind, licking and biting your clit. Your eyes roll to the back of your head as his tongue does wonders to you.
You gagged as he pounds in and out of your mouth, while from behind a tongue lick deep in your entrance. His nose teasing your clit, earning you a moan vibrating through the dick in your mouth. Both of them release low moans, reaching their high.
You tap his thigh, pull you away from his dick as you feel a knot in your stomach.
"I-I some-something d-down there." You cried out, feel his friend's wet tongue thrust in and out of your cunt. You gasped from sensation, as he's licked your rim hole.
"Then cum all over his mouth, princess. Let him taste every drop." He strokes his dick as you stick your tongue out to his tip. You feel your release as the man behind lapping your juices clean.
"God, she tastes so good. I wanna fuck her wet cunt till she's scream."
The killer in front of you didn't say a word, staring at his friend
"You can't have her. She beat you up, remember?"
"The fuck that's supposed to mean? We won, she lost."
"Correction, you get beat to a pulp and I'm the one stopping it. So, I get the prize and you just, I don't know. Enjoy the show?"
"I'm already hard and you’re telling me just to watch you all over her? Hell no man!"
They way they're talking about you like you aren't there bothers you, but at the same time kind of hot.
You could tell his friend was frustrated, agitated while him with you on his lap stroking his tip to your folds. You whimpered as he nudged his face mask closer to your neck. You could feel his wet tongue licking and sucking at the cut he gave you.
Deep down you know your choice terrifies you but you don't want his friend left behind.
"There's two holes for a reason, ya know." You mumbled low, but somehow both killers caught on to what you said. They both were stunned. Not long after, the one you sit on his lap snickered darkly.
"You're one dirty little virgin. Didn't know you're into that." He gripped your hips closer to his already hard crotch. You blushed at his indication.
Truth is, you stumbled upon a porn magazine from Stu's wardrobe, asking you for his sweatpants as he was in the bathroom. Curiosity kills you when you open the magazine, the page showed a blond woman penetrated by two men, dick in her cunt while another in her ass.
The image haunted you yet deep down you want to know how it feels like, to get banged by two. As you stare at her lustful face, you jump when you hear Billy's voice from outside Stu's room. So, you threw away the magazine and hastily grabbed his shorts. When Billy enters the room, he stares at you intensely. He always does every time you're in his sight. He raised an eyebrow as you gave the shorts, muttered, "Give it to Stu, he wants it." and you made a mad dash out of his room.
You know for the fact that the chances you're getting DP is slim to none. But seeing as of now, your fuzzy brain was like why not.
"You're an angel, you know that? That's why you're perfect for us." The frustrated Ghostface was now like he's in cloud nine when you told him that, hugging you from behind.
"You're meant for us, (Y/N). Remember that." The one with you on his lap was now laying down on the floor, bringing you with him so that your pussy was placed right on his outstretched cock. As his tip penetrated your entrance, you whimpered as the slight discomfort got you. As your tied arms gripped the black cloth of his front, his hand teasing your clit, trying to distract you from the pain.
As he is completely inside you, the discomfort was replaced slowly with pleasure, fullness from his thick length. His sighed in relief, loving his dick snug deep in your pussy like a vice.
"Fuck you're so tight, baby." He rasped as he helped adjust his length inside you. When he felt you ready, he slowly thrust in and out of you, making you moan.
"You like that? You like riding this cock?" His slow thrust became erratic as he rammed your throbbing cunt. Your mouth gaped open, couldn't reform words when he hit you at the right spot.
"Y-yes, right there. Shit! You're so big." You uttered breathlessly, bouncing his dick as he thrust deeper in you.
As you ride him, you feel another one trying to penetrate your asshole. You jumped at the sudden intrusion, stopping you as he continued to push in, hissing at your shoulder.
"S-shit! My cock gonna cut in half if you keep squeezing me like that." He buried his face on your neck as he roughly thrust you in one go, making you scream.
"M'sorry babe. Can't help it."
You try to glare at his face, or more precisely his mask. You could imagine his stupid grin, staring at you adoringly.
This is too much. For you, a virgin and never been fuck let alone anal, this is a lot to take in. You could feel their dicks stretched inside every hole of you down there. You try adjusting to this new stimulation. They’re both moving in sync, in and out of you, feeling both of their dicks rubbing your wall one at the time. It makes you see stars as they fasten their phase.
Skin slapping filled the room, with your moan and their groan in a mix.
“Fuck fuck fuck I’mma cum!” You feel his hand gripping your hips as his thrust turns sloppy. Your body started to shake as the one beneath encircled his arms around you, keeping you close to his chest as he slammed you hard on your g-spot.
You nearly scream from pleasure as orgasm washed over you, followed by the one behind, pumping his seed into your throbbing asshole. Your pussy tightens is all it needs from the one beneath you to paint his cum on your walls.
He gave his one hard, second thrust at your asshole then pulled out his softened cock. The way he stared at his cum spilling from your ass stirred something inside him.
His fingers subconsciously slipped his overflow cum inside your hole. For some reason, he doesn’t want a single drop of his seed leaking out of you.
You take a deep inhale as your eyes flutter close, trying to calm from your euphoric state. You could hear his heartbeat thumping as your head laid on his chest, with him too catching his breath.
The only thing you remember is feeling a peck on your forehead and a kiss from your nape, with a deep raspy voice you manage to hear before exhaustion overtook your body.
“That’s my good girl.”
After you pass out…
“Man, that’s the best thing happen in my life!” Stu sighed, satisfied as he pulled off his Ghostface mask and slipped in his now soft dick in his pants. He looked over at his friend who was still lying on the ground with their favorite girl on top of him.
“You're lucky I came up with this plan. Knew it our girl had same fantasies like us.” He grinned, smiling like an idiot, while Billy too slowly took off the mask.
“If you didn’t pull out that porn magazine, she wouldn’t even think about it, genius.” He murmured as he stroked your arm. He sighed in relief with his eyes closed, hearing your soft snores calmed him.
Maybe they could pay you another visit, and it will be on nice bed this time.
And sure as hell he'll make sure of that.

°•IF THE BG3 COMPANIONS BABYSAT YOUR KIDS!•°
Tumblr media
Lae'zel
Congratulations your children are spending an afternoon at boot camp!
You can rest assured they will be treated fairly at least.
No favoritism going on here.
Anyone who misbehaves shall be sent to solidarity confinement and left there until....Idk
If they want a snack they WILL have to fight one another in a duel to the death.
Or at least until one of them falls down and cries.
To the winner go the cookies.
Or more accurately maybe some giant space hamster jerky.
Karlach
This is assuming her engine has been fixed, naturally.
The kids absolutely love Auntie K.
Legit can carry them all on her shoulders at once.
She gives the best hugs too and is always so nice and warm.
She is up to play any games with them! Especially ones where she pretends to be a monster and chases them around.
Very protective of the little ones.
Brings them new stuffies each time she visits.
You MUST remind her constantly to watch her language around the little ones!
Gale
Arrives via magic portal.
Brings Tara to help him.
Takes it very personally if one of the children don't like him.
Tries to impress them via magic and creates a magical illusion to entertain the kiddos.
Attempts to teach them everything he knows about the weave.
Takes it very hard if the children fall asleep during his lecture.
Must be consoled by Tara.
If any take an interest in the weave they immediately become his favorite.
You'll probably end up coming home to your home appliances floating or having some kind of enchantment on them.
Halsin
Yes he turns into a bear and lets them ride on his back.
Most time is spent outside enjoying nature and all of its beauty.
Will carry the littlest one on his shoulders at all times.
Always brings healthy snacks, mostly fruit like apple slices.
Proceeds to take them to a nearby pond to feed the ducks.
Widdles them little animal figures to play with.
No TV or video games. The thought of technology taking over their lives makes him sick.
We play outside or we don't play at all.
Doesn't mind them grabbing at his ears, if they can even reach them that is!
He has to remind one of them multiple times that he unfortunately cannot turn into a dragon.
Sad sad truth.
Shadowheart
Makes cute little flower crowns with them.
Helps the little ones feel better if any of them are afraid of the dark.
Is very good at comforting them.
Possibly might be one of the older one's first goth girl crush.
Badmouths Lae'zel in front of them shamelessly.
Always puts on a tim Burton movie or something for them to watch.
Definitely the reason for any of their emo phases.
They think she's really cool though.
Wyll
Always the first to volunteer to babysit.
Man has the patience of a saint and can handle even the most unruly of children.
Always talks them up and is very careful to never put them down.
Tells them all kinds of exciting stories of his time as the Blade.
Makes sure to adjust them to be suitable for the kiddos.
Leaves out the scary parts.
If any of them are mean to one another and can't get along he's the type to make them each say something nice about the other as a punishment.
Let's them play with toy swords and teaches them a thing or two about using them.
Never raises his voice at them. Is super calm and collected.
Loves them all to pieces!
Also may or may not take them out to get ice cream if they're good.
Astarion
Assuming this is Spawnstarion we're talking about because the vampire Ascendant would just laugh in your face if you asked him then slam the door on you.
Our sweet little spawn will also likely laugh and think you're joking at first.
"You seriously want a vampire to watch over your children?"
Assuming you pay him and be sure to give him big sweet puppy dog eyes he may consider it.
This man is a very not my child not my problem kind of guy.
Gets annoyed with all the children asking tedious vampire questions and responds with very sarcastic answers.
Does not approve of them wanting to touch his ears.
Agrees to let them see his fangs in hopes to scare them (the mischievous little shit).
The children instead think they're cool, which confuses him. He really isn't sure how to feel about it.
Threatens to eat them if they get on his nerves.
Spends most of the time on the sofa, boredly reading a magazine or watching television.
Miraculously takes a shine to one of the younger girls who call him pretty and compliments his clothes and hair.
This is also given the girl is a little mischief gremlin who pulls pranks on her older siblings.
He lets her paint his nails purple or red while she gossips about her mother/father's new partner or her siblings.
Unapologetically shows her favoritism and lets her sit on his lap and watch TV with him.
Will not bat an eye if the other children run a muck and destroy shit.
Legit just keeps watching TV. Probably some drama filled 'reality' show.
He actually finds the chaos caused by the children quite amusing.
One of the children somehow ends up on the roof.
Once the parents are home and it's time to leave. The youngest girl gives him a hug.
His eyes get all big and round and almost threaten to tear up.
Astarion is not asked to babysit again.
Sorry some of them are so short, I mostly write for Astarion so I'm not very confident at doing the other characters.
Hope you like it though!

Dear, mr. Gaiman,
Hi! There's a question that's been circling my head about Good Omens and I thought perhaps you would be so kind as to clarify it for me. I'd like to know how "A nightingale sang in Berkley square" happened to become a part of the story. You see, I love music and one of my favorite things is its use in storytelling (my all time favorite movie scene is the piano duet in tim burton's corpse bride). In Good Omens case I am absolutely fascinated by how Berkley was an already existing melody, with the reference of "angels dining at the ritz" and therefore haha a perfect match for the story. Did you and Terry already know the song? Who's idea was it to include it?
In my case, I didn't know this tune before watching and reading the book, and now it's a comforting melody I always go to when I need it and I just would like to know the "story" behind it within your's and Terry's creative process. I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes in my writing, I speak to you from Brazil. My english writing is a little rusty. I wish you well, Mr. Gaiman, you're one of my favorites.
Ana.
We both knew the song and the words of the song, yes. That was why and how we came to put it into the book. For the TV show I imagined Tori Amos singing it and was so overjoyed when she did.

🔥 Tim Burton (him as a person or his aesthetic, your choice!)
"Beetlejuice" (1988) reminds me a lot of another film I watched recently; "Tombstone" (1993). Sold by an aesthetic and a FANTASTIC performance from a side character, audiences were conned into loving a mediocre film. I'm not Lindsey Ellis, so don't expect me to talk about the cartoon.
"Batman" (1989) and its sequel is proof that Burton will not be giving up his aesthetic for God or money. Gotham is heavily disconnected from both the film and its source material, with little reason other than its director. There's a reason no one calls these "Keaton's Batmans," they call them "Burton's Batmans." Jack Nicholson is great as The Joker, but that's no hot take. The hot take is that Devito is too horny as The Penguin, and it makes me uncomfortable for a film that's already so sexual.
"Edward Scissorhands" (1990) is a bitter, bitter film where artist finally meets muse. Not, like, in the plot, but in the production. Depp and Burton were made for eachother... or at least that's what I'm supposed to think. This movie's just too messy, however, and can't decide where its focal point lies and leaves me wishing I had just watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (2000) instead.
"Sleepy Hollow" (1999) leaves me, a fan of the original text, I know that's probably a weird thing to say, miffed, even if understanding. Outside of some pacing issues, it's a bold reimagining that feels like Burton attempting to get out of his comfort zone... but I just didn't need this story to be turned into an homage to B-horror. Go watch that Disney short, eh?
"Big Fish" (2003) is his best film. I am hardly qualified to speak on it, and even if I did, I would cry. So, you know, just go watch that shit.
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (2005) is destined to be compared to "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" (1971), and why wouldn't it? In thirty-four years since the making of the original, not a single person worth listening to said "i need this done right," including Burton himself, which is why he tries to add so much, but no amount of additions changes the fact that he casted his muse instead of someone who could, you know, act like Wonka? So, you know, destined for failure and to be loved by everyone who won't watch movies made before 1987.
"Corpse Bride" (2005) is one of only two claymation films that Burton would actually direct, and he uses this time to steal a Jewish story and make it less Jewish. I don't like the ending or the songs and it feels like it could be cut in half and achieve the same effect.
"Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" (2007) literally doesn't have the iconic opening number from the stage play??? Overall, there's rarely a pairing of source material and director that works as well as this one... If only I enjoyed the source material, eh? So dark, so bitter, so edgy, so... nothing. I never think about this movie. When I do, I think of Mrs. Lovett's dream sequence and remember the good old days of "Big Fish" (2003) when Burton liked to use color.
"Alice in Wonderland" (2010) is one of my guiltiest pleasures in all of film. It is the reason why every time Disney announces a live-action remake, my ears perk up. If all of them were as wild, unhinged, original, creative, and inspired as this one... Well, I think Disney might not be fucking bleeding money right now. No one ever even mentions that it's a sequel to the original animated film. A SEQUEL, not a remake. Sometime movie-goers surprise me with how little they think.
"Frankenweenie" (2012) blows. I don't care how unique it is, I do not like it.
"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" (2016) is one of the funniest remnants of the teen dystopia genre. Like, it hardly applies, but is trying SO HARD that it's unbelievable. Also, props to Mr. "Black People Aren't My Aesthetic" for casting Samuel L. Jackson as a dude who eats white babies. (I do not mean that.) Seriously, this is proof that Burton, as a modern director, should no longer be taken seriously.
"Dumbo" (2019) is AAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHA I FUCKING HATE THIS DUDE HOLY SHIT
If I didn't mention, I haven't seen it. Yes, I know I skipped some big ones. I may watch them one day, but I am in no rush.

What have you been up to lately?
Staying active
Been staying pretty active physically which has been tiring in the best way. Making the most out of my Classpass trial by taking two Soulcycle classes, another Barry's class, a reformers pilates class, and a HIIT class and intro to pole class tomorrow. On the fence about cancelling my gym membership and switching to Classpass fully considering I'll be doing more outdoor runs once the weather is warmer. I have a half marathon coming up this month which will be fun and I still have a bit of time to train for my full marathon this spring. Working out and taking classes with friends has honestly been so fun and a great way to start my mornings.
Reading
Finished Self-Made by Tara Isabella Burton this month and currently reading Babel by R.F. Kuang. Babel has been on my list for a while along with other of Kuang's work and one of my friends dropped her recommendation in our group chat at the perfect time. Thoroughly enjoying it so far and the moments when I can recognize the Mandarin words & phrases.
Started Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado and Why Does He Do That? by Lundy Bancroft which I hope to finish this month as well when time allows.
Watching
Recent movies include All of Us Strangers, May December, My Cousin Vinny, and Dune. Haven't made the time to watch Society of the Snow, Maestro, Nyad, or Zone of Interest yet which are the few Oscar noms on my list I have yet to see. Love the flexibility of having AMC A-list but haven't been to the theater in a couple weeks sadly.
Shows include the new season of True Detective (slow, not sure if I'll finish), The New Look, & Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Creating/Staying Inspired/Misc.
Having more fun lately tinkering with motion graphics. Recently upgraded my personal computer to a Macbook Pro which makes the transition from work to personal projects more seamless especially when working in Blender & After Effects.
One of my friends also created a group chat with other artist friends to share art and keep each other motivated through challenges and "assignments" which I've been meaning to contribute more to. Considering taking back up daily doodles like I did during the beginning of the pandemic. Work offers to cover a portion of educational expenses which I plan on taking full advantage of this summer with either virtual or in-person design/art courses.
Waiting for spring volunteer opportunities to open up at one of my favorite local museums given its proximity to where I live + the opportunity to give back to the community while also staying involved in the arts.
All in all, staying busy, socializing, working towards my goals, and being intentional about stepping outside of my comfort zone.

So sorry to ask, but... what exactly is corpse bride?
OHO!!!!!! im so glad you asked >:)) it's one of my favourite childhood movies!!!! I'll put this plot summary under the cut bc im too excited to infodump :,)
I've watched it like a million times, its a tim burton film from 2005 shot entirely with stop motion figures, a lot like NBC! it's got both musical numbers and spoken parts (tears to shed and remains of the day SLAPS if you get a chance to listen to them on spotify or youtube, although the whole soundtrack is really really good--it's directed by danny elfman!)
Tumblr media
the plot centers around a man named Victor Van Dort living in a victorian-era village who is the son of a pair of new money fishmarket owners, and has been arranged into a marriage with the daughter of old money aristocrats named Victoria Everglot. although her parents agreed to the marriage primarily for financial reasons because they've found themselves destitute, Victor's in-laws not only openly detest him for his meek personality but they also have a very low opinion of Victoria, as well as being distasteful of having to rely on the wealth of a commoner family to save them from the poorhouse. throw in the fact that the bride and groom haven't met until then but he falls in love almost immediately, as well as the appearance of a passing Lord Barkis Bittern at their home who watches the proceedings, and Victor messes up the rehearsal so badly that he leaves into the woods to go practice his vows so he can hopefully impress his new family, and his new wife. but while he's there, practicing out loud and bemoaning his nerves because he only does them well when he's alone, he ends up putting the ring on a branch-like root and unknowingly summons a corpse out of the ground, who chases after him before pulling him into the underworld with her.
and surprise! when he wakes up after fainting from the shock, he discovers that the branch wasn't a branch at all, but the outstretched hand of a bride-to-be that had been murdered by her fiancé and had her fortune stolen under that tree years before, and has been waiting for her true love to come along and marry her. although a bit naive, she's very sweet and innocent and is so excited to be wed to her new husband, showing off her ring to prove their bond while the other corpses congratulate them and start planning the wedding--she even gives him a wedding present, which is the skeleton of his deceased dog that comes together to play with him again. Victor finds the "downstairs" to be surprisingly bright and colourful and totally unlike the gray, lifeless expanse of the living world, but with such a weak constitution he's totally in shock and insistent on going back home and returning to his living fiancé, to the point that he ends up tricking his corpse bride, Emily, into taking him up so she can meet his parents before their supposed wedding. but instead, he sneaks away once they come up to go see Victoria in secret, who has been worried about his disappearance, and explains what's happened to him while also confessing his love right up until Emily finds them together and jealously drags Victor back down to the underworld. feeling betrayed and hurt at having her heart broken again, she mourns her failed marriage and the fact that it's been ruined because she's dead, and Victor would prefer a woman that's alive even though her friends remind her that she's so talented and has a lovely personality.
while this is all happening, Victoria is trying to convince her family that Victor needs to be rescued and even escapes being locked in her room to head for the church for guidance, only to be taken back by the minister as everyone deems her unreasonable due to hysteria. at this moment, Lord Barkis steps in to comfort her parents and ends up convincing them to let him marry Victoria, with promises that he'll be lavishing her with wealth--but what they don't know is that he's already plotting her death, so he can steal all her family's riches and take her dowry once she's gone. at the same time, while Victor's parents are searching for him, their driver Mayhew ends up dying from a smoking-induced coughing fit and shows up in the downstairs, for him to meet up with Victor and let him know that Victoria has moved on and is getting married to someone else.
and, feeling guilty over the fact that he tricked her, Victor has come back to Emily to apologize and they share in one of their interests, which is playing the piano. upon hearing the news of Victoria's new union, Victor is hurt at losing her but more at ease with the thought of marrying Emily and decides to do so properly--but she soon realizes that in order to do so, Victor has to repeat his vows in the living world and drink poison in order to die, which Emily feels too guilty about asking of him to even try. luckily Victor has overheard, though, and agrees to the terms, and the two of them joined by the undead wedding party bring their festivities upstairs to commence with the marriage. by this time, Victoria has been unwillingly married off to Lord Barkis and is completely depressed, but the reception is crashed by the dead as they flood through the village and cause a panic, to all but the people who soon recognize their deceased family members and lovers and friends and are reunited. abandoned by their own wedding party, a disheveled Lord Barkis insists on Victoria taking all of her family's riches from their coffers so they can steal away from the overrun town--but he becomes furious when she reveals that her family is practically impoverished, and that his perceived wealth was the reason her parents were so eager to marry her off. Victoria storms off to follow the wedding party and slips into the church where Victor is being married. she watches the ceremony, but just as he's about to drink the poison and commit to his undead bride, Emily spots Victoria and stops him from doing so. realizing that the two of them are in love, she can't bring herself to split them apart and gives up her wedding so that they can be together, because she doesn't want to take someone that wasn't meant to be hers.
however, just as Victor and Victoria are reunited, Lord Barkis crashes the wedding and demands Victoria be returned to him, only for he and Emily to recognize each other--she realizes that he was the fiancé that had taken all she had and left her for dead, and a fight between himself and Victor ensues as he stops him from kidnapping Victoria (also because the dead can't get involved or commit murder while they are obeying the rules of the living in their world). Barkis tries to kill Victor by stabbing him but is intercepted by Emily who takes the blow, and turns his sword on him and orders him to leave--but before he does, he takes the immunity he has against the angered crowd of undead to propose a mocking toast against his former fiancé on her failed love, not realizing that the wine he's drinking is poisoned. he dies on the spot, the dead drag him back into the underworld to torture their new arrival on behalf of Emily, and the corpse bride returns her ring to Victor to marry his true love and is set free, her body turning into a cloud of blue butterflies that flutter away towards the moon.

✨️ Tag Game Tuesday Wednesday ✨️
Name: Lyds ⚘️
Age: 34 for another 4 weeks or so 🗓
Where in the world are you? Europe, middle of nowhere📍
The meaning behind your URL: 'Ardent' is one of my favorite words, husband calls me Foxxy cause of my red hair, also it sounds like 'ardent fucks' together so cheeky win 🍑
Your second favorite color: Dusty pink 💕
Any pets? Jasper the bun 🐇
Favorite season: Spring, I feel as if I'm in love with the whole world during it, it kicked in earlier this year and I'm absolutely fine with that 🌸
Last thing you read: Galladrabbles. My brain has been doing its cute thing where it can't focus on reading or writing anything longer than that for the past few weeks 🙃
Last song you listened to: I played the Crazy Ex Girlfriend soundtrack while getting ready to go out, so Gettin' Bi (which has become an anthem of mine ngl) 🎵
What are you wearing right now? A hoodie with a crumbling print of a tattooed and pierced out princess Jasmine taking a selfie, black sweatpants and socks with chihuahuas wearing Santa hats on them, my go-to sexy at home look 😅
A hobby of yours: Writing fanfiction and planning our home makeover, both usually taking place only in my head 💭
Your comfort show or movie: Got several, going with Pride and Prejudice (the 1995 BBC miniseries) this time 📜
And finally, what are you up to today? Had a monthly supply of hay delivered to me this morning, went to a job interview that went surprisingly well, did some chores and now I'm chilling here 😎

✨️ Tag Game Fandom Edition ✨️
Your name: Lyds 🌸
Your age: Still 34 😅
Your first fandom(s): Not sure what qualifies, but probably House M.D. 🩺
Your current fandom(s): Though my hyperfixations are always changing, Shameless/Gallavich is the only fandom I actively engage in 🧑🏼‍🤝‍🧑🏻
How did you first get into fandom? I was part of a Tim Burton/Johnny Depp RPG message board where I played 3 characters and we also used to write what I now realize was fanfiction on the spot over MSN. A bunch of us were obsessed with House M.D. and someone must have mentioned fanfiction.net to me cause I got hooked on reading Hilson and Huddy stories around the same time 👀
How long have you been engaging with fandom spaces? The RPG/House era started in 2008, but I didn't become active on Tumblr and AO3 until getting involved in the Shameless fandom as of April 2022 🗓
How often do you read fanfics? When my brain is in the right place, I'd say a couple stories a week 📱
Top 3 characters from your current fandom(s): Ian gallagher, Mickey Milkovich, Castiel (still going through Supernatural and loving every bit of it) 💙
Have you ever written a fic for a fandom? If so, shout it out! Yes, still at one completed ficlet and a Galladrabble collection on my AO3, not counting the 5-6 WIPs I have in my docs 📂
Have you ever drawn fanart for a fandom? Nope, can't draw to save my life 🙃
Share a personal headcanon that you feel very strongly about: Probably not the most original one, but Mickey never liked his full name until Ian stated he thought it was beautiful. Him using it in his wedding vows is symbolic of him reconciling with the darkest parts of himself and accepting them before offering his whole self to Ian, a declaration of love for both of them in his own way. The fact that it somewhat mirrors the act of him apprehensively coming out in front of his own hostile audience, only to confidently show his self-acceptance and love for Ian in front of their favorite people 6 years later is just icing on the (wedding) cake 💖
You’re trying to convince a friend to get into your current fandom(s) with you. What episode, clip, or scene are you showing them? The "I can explain this" scene when Mickey gets shot in the ass and the social worker appears at the Gallagher house, it's peak Shameless madness 😄
And finally, what does fandom mean to you? A sanctuary of creativity and comfort where we can all be, make and enjoy whatever we want, the closest thing to utopia there is 🫶
Tagging @ian-galagher, @sickness-health-all-that-shit, @gallawitchxx, @gardenerian, @squidyyy23, @juliakayyy, @whatwouldmickeydo, @auds-and-evens, @thisdivorce, @sleepyfacetoughguy and whoever sees this and would like to play! ✨️

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi hi! I was tagged by @nigmos to list my favorite movies 18 days ago (I swear it was only 2 days ago last time I looked! 😱 time goes by so fast!) so here they are!
I think I’ve done some variation of the favorite movies tag once or twice before, but some of my picks are different now, because when I really think about what I consider to be my favorite movies, they’re the movies I’ve watched over and over and generally refer to as my “comfort” movies. I realize looking at this list that most, if not all, of these may be odd to refer to as “comfort” movies, but I’ll explain below. Feel free to skip! (because I go into A LOT of detail). replies welcome and encouraged! Tags also below the cut.
1. Beetlejuice / 1988 / Director: Tim Burton I love this movie so much it’s hard to explain, but I’ll try to keep it short: I used to consider The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993 / Director: Henry Selick) my favorite movie because I used to watch it all the time with my dad, but as I got older I found it less comforting and didn’t really agree with it as much, though I still think it’s pretty good. Beetlejuice, on the other hand, I also used to watch all the time with my dad, but I didn’t understand it when I was younger, I just liked the imagery and aesthetics. As I got older, I understood it more, and I really like the story and what the movie has to say, both very obviously in the script and in subtext and general implications. Lydia and Delia are both iconic, the portrayals of death and the afterlife are a lot of fun, and it’s just good all around. Every time I catch it on TV, I drop everything and watch it (Even though I have a physical copy of it that I can watch whenever I want).
2. Interview with the Vampire / 1994 / Director: Neil Jordan My mom used to read the book this movie is based on to me as a bedtime story. It’s one of her favorite books and movies, and when she showed me the movie version when I was little I was just completely enamored with it, even though I, again, didn’t really understand it until I was older. I’ve since read the book on my own several times (it’s my one of my favorite novels, oops.) and I think this is a pretty faithful adaptation, and just a good film in its own right. You don’t need to read the book to understand it, and it drags at times, but it has a lot to offer! I watch it at least a few times a year and even get cravings for it when I’m feeling down.
3. Corpse Bride / 2005 / Director: Tim Burton Another one I used to watch with my dad all the time. I think it’s a really beautiful story too, and I appreciate it more and more every time I watch it. One time when I was really depressed I watched it two times right in a row and cried both times (at/about the ending). No kidding. It’s good shit.
4. Sweeney Todd / 2007 / Director: Tim Burton I think I was around 10 when I first saw this movie. I was pretty close to my cousin around this time and her older brother played the soundtrack in his car when we’d all hang out, and we were both VERY into the movie—until Twilight (2008 / Director: Catherine Hardwicke) came out and she flaked on me and liked Twilight more, lol. I was immature about it at the time, but I’m over it now; we just have different tastes and that’s okay! I can watch it whenever I want with my bestie @pinacoladasims now, because she likes it just as much as I do. :)
5. Silent Hill / 2006 / Director: Christophe Gans Another one I was introduced to by a cousin. I used to watch this one all the time with my mom. I didn’t play any of the games it’s based on until much later, but they’re even better, and I’m so glad my cousin introduced this movie to me! It’s not the best one on this list, but I still go back to it from time to time.
6. The Grudge 2 / 2006 / Takashi Shimizu This is another one I used to watch all the time with my mom. Its the second in the Americanized version of the Ju-On movies, which I’ve also seen, but I still like the American movies just a little bit better. I played the DVD of this movie on repeat one time when I had stomach flu and couldn’t stop puking. Its pretty cemented in my memory because of that, along with the taste of Sprite and 7-up.
FINAL THOUGHTS: My parents are both horror junkies, if you can’t tell, and my taste in movies has been HEAVILY influenced by that. My dad’s favorite director is Tim Burton, so I’ve seen a lot of his stuff as a consequence. I know he’s problematic in a lot of ways, but I do like his movies a lot. Ditto for Johnny Depp; good actor, less than spotless record. I think it’s okay to like things made by problematic people as long as you’re aware of it and what you’re putting in your own head. Anne Rice (author of the Interview with the Vampire novel), isn’t perfect either, and neither is her work, but nonetheless, I still like it very much.
That’s all! Thanks again to @nigmos for tagging me! I tag @pinacoladasims of course, @simnostalgia, @s1ndle, @oceansidegraveyard, @fireflowersims, @penig, @furbyq, @nervosims, @kristallisims, @brokendoll-simblr, @vipercanyon, and whoever else sees this and wants to do it; just say I tagged you & tag me in your post so I can see your faves too! I know some of y’all have alt blogs, so feel free to do the tags on those if you want to keep them off your simblrs. And if you’ve already been tagged to do this recently, feel free to skip! Have fun!

2022 MOVIE OF THE WEEK #35
Tumblr media
die hard. can you believe i had never seen this movie until this year’s holiday season? cuz i can’t really believe it. i went through such a bruce willis phase when i was younger, i used to own the dvd set of moonlighting and i watched him on friends and in movies with matthew perry and the fifth element was a classic in my house...somehow this one just escaped me, i think because my mom’s Action Men tastes were very specifically adrian paul and chuck norris. whereas mine can probably be best described as ‘aw shucks schlubby charm,’ dudes who just seem more normal until they are required to be badasses. bruce willis, david harbour...i can’t remember what other actor i realized he reminds me of while watching this, but i know i told leander and was pleased by the realization, so i’m sure there are more examples.
anyway, this was so not on my radar; i didn’t even know what it was about other than through cultural osmosis. when a movie is mentioned as often as this one, you Know It even when you don’t. though there is a specific kind of joy that comes from finally seeing the line ‘yippee ki-yay, motherfucker’ delivered in its original context. that was fun.
until pretty recently, i didn’t know alan rickman was the antagonist--that was a large part of why i watched. and boy does he make a meal out of this role. a significant chunk of this movie was just me thinking about what a great actor he is in this. his line deliveries are so delicious that i made a mental note just to mention ‘ho...ho...ho.’ as something nobody else could have had as much fun with. i was truly sad when his character finally died, because of course that ending was always going to come, but i didn’t want it to. the mark of a good villain is actually wanting more of them when you’re not supposed to like them in the first place, and he was an excellent villain--clever and funny with his own moral code, perfect to face off against bruce willis’s unexpected hero.
besides alan rickman, the other reason i decided to watch this (with @actuallylukedanes and their fiance who had both seen it before) was that it was featured in an episode of you are good, a movie podcast i like, which meant i’d already heard about the plot and figured that might help me enjoy it more. (normally if they discuss movies i intend to watch, i skip those episodes to avoid spoilers, but i never planned to see this one. lol.) anyway, they watched it as one of their christmas picks, and i knew there was a big debate about whether or not it counts as a christmas movie.
now that i’ve seen it, i feel like the debate is settled and it is OBVIOUSLY a christmas movie, no question. it is in my opinion a movie about a bunch of people (including john mcclain) having the worst christmas of their lives, and there was something i found oddly comforting about that. with my shiny new holiday depression this year, i wasn’t in the mood for any holiday movies--but i would rewatch this one every christmas, because like any good christmas movie there is a party and people remember that family is the most important thing. but UNLIKE other christmas movies, it has alan rickman taking his craft super seriously while bruce willis is in his softest and prettiest young phase, which i adore. and things explode.
(i also need us all to move on from this ‘is it a christmas movie?’ debate so people can be converted to the cult of my much more underappreciated christmas fave, batman returns. tim burton said gotham christmas but make it creepy! and michelle pfieffer learned better whip skills than harrison ford just to manifest it. the true spirit of christmas is being reanimated by cats, and using your new nine lives to flirt with a wealthy orphan while seeking vengeance on anyone who wronged you.)
i’m sure i could go on, but you can tell how old this movie is from the poster up there--i was barely ALIVE when this came out, lol. so i am very late to the party and i doubt a ton of people need me going on and on about it. besides alan rickman and bruce willis, i didn’t know most of the cast, but they all did a good job, there was at least one plot thread that didn’t go the way i expected, and i was pleasantly surprised by that. this movie’s racial politics make me reeeeally uncomfortable, but it’s not at all unusual for its time. the one honorable mention i’d give in casting is to the actor i grew up watching on family matters who plays a central role in helping john survive. he’s portrayed as a black hero, but he can’t just be one because he’s john’s emotional support system throughout the movie--no, he has to become a ‘real’ cop again by shooting a guy. at the same time, you have two major comic relief characters, and both are young black men; one driving john’s limo and the other handling technology for the villain. there’s a same sort of ‘balance’ with the movie’s two asian characters, the seemingly kind company owner who’s murdered early on versus a team member of the villain whose role is also tiny.
the movie is also trying to say stuff (or is just accidentally saying stuff based on the era) around post-soviet american perspectives, but i feel like the racial element sticks out way more because it goes uncommented on. like since it’s clearly not something the plot thinks about, these choices are even more noticeable and important because they reflect the buried stuff.
idk, i just have a lot of feelings about the fact that john’s friend over the radio couldn’t be really redeemed unless he used his gun. or about the fact that he and john are both cops in the first place, so even this sort of ‘everyman’ action movie is promoting the idea that while the fbi and other bureaucracy is useless or will even make things worse, good cops are the only hope we have.
and his marital reconciliation--i basically just threw up my hands with that one, because i don’t think a near-death experience on christmas will automatically save your marriage. but at the same time, if your wife’s problem with you is that you wouldn’t follow her to her new job, and you finally show up there and save a whole building full of people while she’s in it...then yeah, okay, whatever. maybe that’s all it takes. i mean, if i were her, i’d probably be willing to consider applying for jobs back in new york after that anyway. they’ve definitely earned some kind of happy ending.
in conclusion, i loved this movie. it is an action movie classic in the truest sense of how that felt in the 80s and 90s, and it features bruce willis at his finest and alan rickman briefly doing an american accent and a whole very huge lot of broken glass. broken glass is basically a character in this movie. die hard was an excellent christmas choice for me this year and i’m glad i was welcome to join in the watching. :)

For the asks if you’re comfortable answering
yess thank you,
2 - shoe size
this is actually so embarrassing. im a 35-36 EU (mens 3-4 UK)
8 - do you want any tattoos?
YES YES YES. theres some ive planned out and some i really want; a very special tree on my shoulder with the text “just like the leaves change in colour”. lyrics from “its not a fashion statement, its a fucking deathwish” by mcr. possibly a big tree or forest, or some other plants going up my other arm too cover up some old scars. hmm i’ve always wanted hand tattoos, specially skeleton hands (in honour of my gloves) or runes. a small face tatto on one of my cheeks. and probably just some aesthetic ones like bats, rats, spiderweb, a vampire stuff, a lot to of norse symbols and creatures, a left and right one, yk just the average goth stuff. 80% of them will probably be impulsive, but thats just a part of the charm, to me tattoos symbol memories and a sense of self. ive wanted them since i was little for that reason. it doesn’t matter how stupid or ugly it is, it still holds a value. its a reminder of how much we grow. yes even if it’s just a pair of drunk tattooed boobs on your foot.
15 - favourite movie
uuuh, anything tim burton
21 - what i love most about myself
my confidence or honesty . people tend to call me a bitch, or stupid for it but ive worked damn hard for it, i could not care less if the truth hurt someone, or what they say to me anymore and its wonderful. also a honourable mention is my humor, bc its damn good

Now let’s get to your ship!
-
So as I was reading the information you submitted, my brain was chanting Hyunjin, Hyunjin, Hyunjin before I even knew you wanted me to pick from skz lol. So I guess I'll go with that.
My reasoning behind it:
- you love dancing, painting and photographing which is something that we all know Hyunjin enjoys, so I think that having the same hobbies could be a great bonding element for you <3
- you are a Virgo which goes perfectly with Hyunjin's Pisces (I'm Pisces too btw and Virgo's are my favorite lol)
- you love classical literature and I read somewhere that Hyunjin reads Austen sooooo another thing you might possibly have in common
- plus Hyunjin apparently has a few tattoos as well so I think he would treat yours like a work of art and I personally think he would love it!
- also cafe dates with Hyunjin???? yes yes yes
-
"Here," Hyunjin murmurs as he hands you your cup of tea, making you give him a grateful smile.
The strong aroma of it spreads through the room, intensifying the cozy atmosphere created by the golden glow of the little lamp and fairy lights in Hyunjin's small atelier.
You sit by one of the easels, admiring one of Hyunjin's displayed works while he takes place by the second one, looking at you with small smile on his plush lips.
"You like it?" He asks and you nod with a grin.
"Of course, I do. You know I love your style," you state, watching as Hyunjin's cheeks darken at your praise and he adverts his gaze to his own cup.
"Thanks," he says sheepishly, making you smile.
Hyunjin invited you over today to have a little catching up session since you two didn't have enough time to see each other these days, mainly because of his tight schedule after the comeback. He picked you up after his dance practice and took you to their dorm, offering to maybe paint a little if you felt like it and you could never say no to your pretty friend.
"So any idea what we'll be working on?" You ask and he smiles, his eyes meeting yours again.
"I don't know, honestly. I somehow lack inspiration these days," he admits and you hum, trying to think of anything he could find entertaining.
"You could paint me," you offer and Hyunjin chuckles.
"No, I'm not doing that," he refuses, taking a sip of his own tea.
"Why? It's a great idea," you state, awaiting his explanation.
"I don't think I can capture your beauty the way you deserve," he says, avoiding your gaze, his words making your heart stumble in your chest, your cheeks warming up.
Silence settles in the room for a second, a quite awkward one if you were to judge but you decide to break it by clearing your throat.
"Okay, you- you don't have to do that, of course. Then we can- maybe we can paint a countryside or something like that? That's quite calming," you offer, knowing that Hyunjin probably needs something like that these days, to get rid of all the pressure he must feel because of the comeback.
"Sure," he murmurs, glancing at you nervously and you give him a little smile, even though you're still a bit surprised by his previous statement.
And so the two of you put down your cups and prepare all the supplies you might need before getting into it.
The calmness of the room really helps you focus on the painting, getting your mind in just the right place but with Hyunjin beside you, you can't help but feel distracted. You keep glancing at him every other moment, thinking about what he said earlier.
You and Hyunjin are really close but you never really crossed the friendly border. You are not used to hear compliments like that from him.
"Everything okay?" He asks, his melodic voice tearing you from your little stupor and you realize you've been staring at him for a while now, long enough for him to notice, making you quickly look back at your canvas, your cheeks burning.
"Yeah, sure," you offer, hoping he won't comment on it.
"Oh, okay," he murmurs, getting back to painting, but you can feel his gaze on you every other minute.
You feel like you must do something about this, you have to assure he was probably just joking before. To ease your mind. And to get rid of that silly flutter of your heart.
“Did you- did you mean it?” You ask, focusing on your art, too afraid to face him.
“Mean what?”
“That you think I’m beautiful?”
Another silence, this time much heavier than before, both of you stopping the gentle strokes of your brushes, your gazes unintentionally finding each other, both of you apparently flustered.
“Y-yeah. You are beautiful, Y/N,” he states, small smile tugging on his lips, his words turning your heart palpitations into a mess. So that didn’t really work out.
“T-thanks, Jinnie,” you murmur, sheepish smile on your face as you dip your brush in the paint, ready to get back to work, when there’s a little ruckus behind you as Hyunjin approaches you.
You glance up at him, lips parted in surprise as you come face to face with him.
“You- uhm- you have something here,” he says softly, raising his hand to wipe the little bit of green painting from your cheek with his thumb, the gentle touch stealing your breath away.
Your eyes meet his and he gives you a little smile.
“I was right before,” he states and your brows curve in confusion.
“There’s no way my art could ever capture your beauty.”

hello darling ^^ my birthday went pretty well! i ate some korean food, cake, brownies and it was all soo gOOD my dad sent me some flowers and money (haha yes dad for the win), my mom bought me an ariana grande perfume and omg so cute like she’s been nagging about wanting to buy me a perfume so I literally only once mentioned that i liked the way one of ariana’s smelled and she retained that information for i don’t know how long like cute 😭
my sister bought me a shirt with a design painted by hand of (you guessed it) ariana grande hagshgs i swear i do like ariana but i wouldn’t consider myself the biggest fan yet here I am, (whatever ariana slay I guess yuh) it was either ariana or harry styles and my sister is more of a harrie than me so :3 (also fun fact, we call harry styles “uncle harry” in this household lol)
a friend bought me a skzoo plushie ㅠㅠ but it arrives til september :D
this week i've been making good use of the money my dad sent me and bought a lot of stuff I’ve been wanting for moNTHS (i swear im not buying compulsively i actually needed most of these stuff), this week also kinda sucked cause I wanted to watch avatar and its no longer on my disney+ 😭🤬 idk if just on my country but man that’s a bummer what am i supposed to watch on a daily basis cause it became my comfort film? 🥺
besides that everything’s been great ^^ slow but great <33
how has your week been?
sending you lots of hugs and kisses maeby baby 🤧💓
-🧸 anon
i'm so glad to hear your birthday wen't well, also yes! who doesn't love some money here and there 😝 when i was in the 5th grade about i got an ariana grande perfume and the one direction one (it's a memory i'll never forget) and they both smelled amazing, ariana never misses with her scents LOL atm i don't have any more since i used it up since then, but recently i've been wearing this nice dior perfume because my mom buys it quite often LOL
» more under the cut
i have a feeling you love grande, but i used to love her too when i was younger, ever since i was immersed into the world of kpop my ari addiction has died down HAHA i actually never really keep up with american pop culture, but harry styles just performed in new york and i'm pretty close to the stadium so that's all i know, everything else i find out from like tiktok lOL! ?!?! also, yeah i heard the removed avatar off disney+ because the sequel is coming out soon, it's probably some PR stuff for profits and what not, but since avatar is no longer an option, then i would totally recommend watching any tim burton animation on disney, his movies have become my comfort movies for i don't know why
my week has actually been pretty good but school coming up still has me super stressed, ughugvhbdk but that's me every year to be honest... school is always something to dread for me
but i went shopping, and hung out with family, i'm also hanging out with family again later today so i'm superrrr excited since i haven't seen half of them since last year
sending you lots and lots of love as well !

Artists in Wonderland - Number 7
Welcome to Artists in Wonderland! Running till the 4th of July, I’m counting down My Top 10 Favorite Illustrators for “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland!” The Lewis Carroll stories of Alice are as immortal as they are odd, and many great artists have handled them in different ways. This countdown will pay homage to just a few of them. Our 7th Place illustrator is one of the most celebrated to have cropped up in the past fifteen years…and I honestly can’t believe it’s been almost that long since he gave us his Wonderland. Today’s artist is Robert Ingpen!
Tumblr media
A native of Australia, Robert Ingpen has the distinction of being the first Australian to earn a Hans Christian Andersen Award, for his contributions as an illustrator to children’s literature. It is an award well-deserved. Ingpen is one of the most applauded and poignant illustrators of the past few decades, and has lent his talents to interpretations of many classic stories, including “Peter Pan,” “The Wind in the Willows,” and “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” His artistic style is interesting and someone tricky to describe: there’s nothing grotesque about his work, yet it’s not always purely happy and sweet. There’s a sort of warm, hazy quality to the way he draws and colors things; it’s a drowsy quality, like wandering through a dream in the summertime. There’s a comforting quality to his work, but at times that comfort is broken by wild danger or strange, almost surreal moments that you don’t expect. Naturally, all of these qualities made him an ideal candidate to handle the “Alice” stories. I remember this volume of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” well, because it was first published in 2009, a year before Tim Burton’s mega-blockbuster movie reimagining came out. For three years between ‘09 and ‘011, Alice was EVERYWHERE, either by design or sheer coincidence (often I think it had to be a bit of both), because the movie was obviously a big deal. I first saw Ingpen’s Alice on a store display at Barnes & Noble, where several different editions of “Alice” and various books related to the stories were set up. Of all the books, it was Ingpen’s that captured my attention the most. HOWEVER, I actually wouldn’t get a chance to purchase and read Ingpen’s Wonderland for almost ten years, simply because the book vanished off the shelves almost as fast as it appeared, and it took me a while to finally work my way to adding it to my collection. Ingpen’s Wonderland, as I said, is one of the most lauded to come out in the past decade-and-a-half, and it’s not hard to see why. His drowsy, dreamy atmosphere works wonders for Wonderland. The book itself is a beautiful piece of art, in its hardcover edition (which I think actually might be the ONLY edition; I’ve never seen a paperback copy, to my knowledge). From the gold lettering to the hard stock paper, it’s a posh sort of volume, yet not highly expensive. The cover price is $20 in America, and I don’t think I paid much more than that when I purchased it online. Ingpen’s imaginings owe much to the work of John Tenniel - in fact, at the end of the book, there’s a dedication from Ingpen TO Tenniel - yet, as all great artists handling the story should, he gives the characters his own sense of style. This is one of the weirdest and yet most realistic Wonderlands of all time; you can feel every strand of fur on the the characters, every pore in their skin, yet they still don’t quite feel real. His Alice is interesting in the way she anchors the story; her body language is expressive and fine, but her facial features are much more static, rarely shifting from a set of specified poses. The characters of Wonderland, in contrast, are broad in their gestures and vivid in their colors, yet the animals feel anatomically accurate, and the humans feel more…well…HUMAN than in many other incarnations. Once again, it’s a paradoxical sort of feeling. Should Wonderland be anything else?

3, 9, and 12 for the movie ask thing.
3. What is a film you absolutely despise and why?
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 😒 the books are one of my favorite YA series and they fuckin massacred it. Terrible casting, forgettable visual style, a tone that completely misses the mark (wayyy too lighthearted and whimsical), multiple unnecessary changes to the source material, and a half assed ending that tries to neatly wrap up what should be the first installment of an 8 book series? Yeah, absolutely not. Fuck Tim Burton.
9. What was the last movie you watched? What did you think of it?
Infinity pool! I really enjoyed it, not as much as Possessor but still an interesting watch. I adore Brandon Cronenberg's style much more than his father's (controversial i know). The soundtrack and visuals were hypnotic, and Mia Goth was phenomenal as always. My only criticism is it meandered a bit too much and didn't quite formulate its message as effectively as it could have.
12. Which movie has your favorite soundtrack?
Oooof this is a hard one, I think i'm gonna have to go with Blade Runner though. The film is already a comfort movie for me and I've been listening to the soundtrack for years to help me sleep. It's just gorgeous, I love how delicate the synths are. The piano and vocal pieces interwoven in are beautiful too. I actually learned Memories of Green on the piano! The runners up would probably be Interstellar and Mandy.
Thank you so much for the ask!! 💖

1. who is/are your comfort character(s)?
I guess I'm not entirely sure what a "comfort character" entails. Is it just like... a character I think about to comfort myself? Because if so, it's my ocs :3 I've also heard it's a character you really heavily relate to, and if that's the definition we're going with... idk if I really have any! I can't think of a lot of characters that are really Me Vibes. Maybe Mabel Pines?
4. which cryptid being do you believe in?
I... don't believe in any cryptids.... I mean, I believe Bigfoot can do whatever he wants and achieve all his dreams, but I don't believe he's like... REAL. The world is full of mysteries and beauty, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's still some weird creatures out there that we haven't seen officially. My manager at my last job was a very strong Bigfoot believer, so I've heard some of the more convincing arguments in favor of Bigfoot being real, but I can't say I found them convincing enough to ignore how very improbable it is.
14. do you love the smell of earth after it rains?
yea i think its alright
46. favorite holiday film?
hmmmmm well to be honest im not really a person who does a lot of stuff for the holidays, so there's not any movies i have a lot of attachment to because of family traditions. My mom and aunt watch Elf every year, but I don't... really like Elf that much.... My dad used to take us to see A Christmas Carol every year at the Gutherie, but that was a play, not a film. Like, I know they made films OF A Christmas Carol, but that's not what I watched! We exclusively watched the stage production, because we, as a family, are pretentious. (or, classy and artsy, if youre biased in our favor). I'd love to be a bitch that's super invested in Halloween, but I think it's just pretty alright, and I don't really like horror movies that much (I have a very weak stomach, and besides horror, I'm pretty sure the only iconic Halloween movies are like... DCOMs?? idk i'm not that invested in those either, and I'm over Tim Burton movies generally). What other holidays are there even films for? I was in the Onceler fandom but I thought The Lorax film itself was just okay... so that's all the Earth Day movies I can think of... I guess we'll just have to say that I liked all the holiday episodes of Community, especially the one that was also a musical episode
