Glow Week yet again! This time for Rain! @glowweek (My thought was that this is immediately after it rained and they've gone out in the mud looking for weird stuff).
This one is a redraw of Aleth Romanillos' art but with Sven and Connor :3 Its a fun pastime of mine to make edits of official media and screenshots but convert it to their AU.
They're good target for edits because they look significantly different, but I can leave most of the background unaltered because they go through a lot of the same events that Steven and Connie do, in comparison to Leo who has a totally different vibe and early series of events or Druid who has 99 percent of his relevant story happen way after canon is over
Anyway I'll shut up lol

Two variants I was trying to choose between, I like the sharpness of the black outline but there's a neat softness to the colored one.

André Aleth Masson (French, 1919 - 2009)
André Masson was born in 1919 in Saint-Malo. In 1978, he added Aleth to his name in reference to his birthplace and to distinguish himself from the painter of the same name. Ceramist, sculptor, painter and engraver, André Aleth Masson attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes, then in Paris where he met Denise Blin, his future wife. In 1947, he joined the School of Ceramics at Fontcarrade near Montpellier.
His debut in Paris in the 1950s led to three solo exhibitions at the MAI gallery (Meubles, Architectures, Installations) in 1952, 1955 and 1961. During these years in Paris, André Masson met André Borderie who also began to exhibit at the MAI gallery. In 1961, André Masson, his wife and their six children moved to the suburb of Senlis. It was André Borderie, himself living in Senlis, who found them a large house 4 km from his home. In 1968, André Masson became a member of the movement «Le Mur Vivant» (The Living Wall), responding to the request of its president, the architect Maurice Novarina. This movement echoes the artist’s desire to create ceramic architecture.

I'm gonna need ALL of these Qs for Satine, but let's start w 2, 12, 60, + one q of your choice 👀
sixty-nine more questions for your ttrpg characters! / ask.
(my mom voice) HI LADYBUG
Tumblr media
2. what was your original concept for this character? how did playing them change that concept?
a ways back, i originally had this very loose idea that was a warlock with a theater inclined patron that i would name after the very basic concept of satine from mooulin roouge. i wanted a character who had a tenuous relationship with a patron that sort of viewed life as a play, or was a playwright, something like that. but obviously that changed before i sat down to play her because i don't think warlock was in the cards :3 and what i wanted in a character changed by the time we got closer to starting.
i do think playing satine in a few sessions has definitely cemented my confidence in the decision to play him a long ways from that concept, since she's come such a long way. playing him has like definitely helped me find his earnest boldness and like figuring out how to balance a more reserved, serene demeanor with like, frequent interaction with the world around her. i think the very first incarnation of satine in my brain was a lot more 'down a rough path' than he is now, which is nice... for him...! ;LGKSDG';SDFSGKF
cont. / 4
12. how have they altered their body? piercings, tattoos, biohacks, or other modifications—anything. why (or why not) did they (or someone else) make those changes?
SO since this satine is a construct who's only technically existed for a couple years now, she hasn't made the time to invest in many piercings on his own :o at least, so far anyway!! but one thing that is of note is the two f-hole tattoos that satine has running down his ribs.
prior to being reconstructed, satine aleth told refrain about wanting to get those tattooed if they found an artist they connected with. obviously no one found the time to do that before (drags finger across neck), so refrain left the impressions there in ink when he rebuilt his body. and now he has these cute permanent cello f-holes over the rib cage, which are so cute. i think she really really likes them too, which is definitely a subconscious carryover from the last life.
i think she likes piercings too, esp since refrain had a cute labret and violence has some too. but hasn't gotten any yet! maybe janvi can help her choose one that will be easy to maintain, he he he
60. what do they have faith in? what keeps them believing?
aw good question :( i think satine has faith in life and the world. even when he's been more afraid of anything, the world has given back to him and made sure to look after him. she's always wound up back in the arms of security, and someone showed her love. it's totally a matter of circumstance that's thrown her this way and that but like... the choices he's seen people make to do the right thing (as well as the right thing could be done) and treat her well is always a 'made choice.' you know? so people keep her faith high. he assumes the best as much as he's able to.
despite being a cleric of song (as we know it's an eccentric power source) he hasn't spent a ton of time studying religion, on account of, well, not spending more than a couple years having lived. but i look forward to her finding more love of the world through what's played in its creation!! in time, maybe there will be something more that he prays to. ^w^
69. what’s one secret they don’t want getting out?
well! despite the fact that she's not entirely comfortable being treated as the former living satine, this incarnation of him still wants to keep that legacy alive. wants to let people think that the theatre de la miséricorde still lives on through someone who carried on after the fire, even after it burned down. because of what it gave to people who visited it, and what it meant to people who made a living there. shared stories there. changed people's lives and touched others! you know. creation is community!
so he doesn't want people from the public who know of satine aleth's reputation to think of him as dead. because, well, he's not! not really.
maybe some might argue otherwise, but... hehe. 🎶 don't they know through song we live forever!?!?!!?

Modal Logic is any system of formal logic that attempts to deal with modalities (expressions associated with notions of possibility, probability and necessity). Modal Logic, therefore, deals with terms such as "eventually", "formerly", "possibly", "can", "could", "might", "may", "must", etc.
Modalities are ways in which propositions can be true or false. Types of modality include:
Alethic Modalities: Includes possibility and necessity, as well as impossibility and contingency. Some propositions are impossible (necessarily false), whereas others are contingent (both possibly true and possibly false).
Temporal Modalities: Historical and future truth or falsity. Some propositions were true/false in the past and others will be true/false in the future.
Deontic Modalities: Obligation and permissibility. Some propositions ought to be true/false, while others are permissible.
Epistemic Modalities: Knowledge and belief. Some propositions are known to be true/false, and others are believed to be true/false.
Although Aristotle's logic is almost entirely concerned with categorical syllogisms, he did anticipate modal logic to some extent, and its connection with potentiality and time. Modern modal logic was founded by Gottlob Frege, although he initially doubted its viability, and it was only later developed by Rudolph Carnap (1891 - 1970), Kurt Gödel (1906 - 1978), C.I. Lewis (1883 - 1964) and then Saul Kripke (1940 - ) who established System K, the form of Modal Logic that most scholars use today).

Hackers stole around $62 million from Curve Finance on Sunday, causing a ripple effect throughout the crypto sector and raising questions about the strength of the decentralized finance ecosystem. Curve is one of the largest decentralized exchanges (DEX) in the crypto market today, with about $1.67 billion in total value locked (TVL), according to data on DeFi TVL aggregator DeFiLlama. A handful of DeFi projects’ pools were also hacked, including PEGd’s pETH/ETH: $11 million; Metronome’s msETH/ETH: $3.4 million; Alchemix’s alETH/ETH: $22.6 million; and Curve DAO: around $24.7 million, according to Llama Risk’s post-exploit assessment. A bug found in older versions of the Vyper compiler contract programming language caused a failure in a security feature used by a handful of Curve liquidity pools. An admin in Curve Finance’s Telegram group declined to comment further to TechCrunch+ and referred us back to the post-exploit assessment. By crypto standards, this wasn’t considered a “big” hack; Curve is a massive DEX, and this hack makes up about 4% of its TVL. A portion of the exploit was done by white hat hacker user c0ffeebabe.eth, who returned 2,879 ether, roughly $5.4 million, to Curve, according to on chain data. But this exploit isn’t the only problem Curve — and the broader crypto space — is facing. Curve founder Michael Egorov has a $100 million loan backed by 427.5 million of the DEX’s token, CRV. That’s around 47% of the entire circulating supply of CRV, according to Delphi Digital, a research and data platform. The token’s price dropping could spell bad news for the health of Curve, and could create even more volatility in the broader DeFi ecosystem. Egorov borrowed about 63.2 million tether from Aave, against collateral of 305 million CRV which will be liquidated if the CRV/USDT pair drops to 37 cents, Delphi wrote. As it stands, CRV is down 19% to 59 cents from 73 cents before the Sunday attack, according to CoinMarketCap data. Next in store

Connext, Alchemix launch cross-chain token standard
Tumblr media
The Connext cross-chain bridging protocol has announced a new token standard to reduce losses from bridge hacks. According to a July 24 announcement, the new “xERC-20” standard allows token issuers to maintain a list of official bridges and control how many tokens can be minted by each. In addition to Connext, decentralized finance (DeFi) platform Alchemix Finance will implement xERC-20 tokens, the announcement stated. Connext Alchemix Today, Connext is announcing support of the xERC20 standard and onboarding projects into safely bringing their tokens to every chain. As our flagship user, we've been working with @AlchemixFi to bring $alUSD, $alETH, and $ALCX to @arbitrum and @optimismFND. https://t.co/S2tBLpuuqe — Arjun | xERC20 arc (@arjunbhuptani) July 24, 2023 The new token standard was originally put forth on July 7 as Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 7281. It was co-authored by Connext’s founder Arjun Bhuptani. At the time, Bhuptani said it would help to minimize losses from bridge hacks by acting on the principle that “Token issuers are the ones who get rekt when bridges get hacked.” Instead of each bridge issuing its own version of a token on every network, the new standard would allow bridges to mint “official” or “canonical” versions of each token. However, they can only do this with the permission of the token issuer, and this permission would be enforced through smart contracts. Token issuers would also be able to limit the number of coins that a particular bridge could mint, the proposal stated. Under EIP-7281, bridges could still mint their own versions of tokens, but such derivative coins would not be considered “canonical” versions. As a result, consumers would eventually come to reject unofficial versions of coins. In Bhuptani’s view, this would lead to a safer DeFi space because it would put the responsibility for avoiding bridge hacks squarely on the shoulders of each token issuer, which would help to prevent end users from suffering losses. To become an official part of the Ethereum ecosystem, an EIP has to be approved by EIP editors, a process that can take months. The July 24 announcement said the standard will now be implemented in Connext and Alchemix ahead of its official approval, allowing end users to rely on it immediately. Related: Multichain bridge hack was a “big blow” to Fantom ecosystem, says Cronje In the announcement, Connext stated that the token standard will be “forward compatible” with the official version should it eventually be approved by the EIP editors. Bhuptani argued that the new implementation will prevent bridges with bad security or excessive centralization from being taken seriously, stating: “This approach encourages open competition and innovation as token issuers now have the flexibility granularly update their preferences for supported bridges over time. Instead of prioritizing building a monopoly on liquidity, or trying to corner market share by locking-in token issuers (or in some cases entire chains), bridges are now forced to have an ongoing focus on their security and quality of service, lest they be delisted." The issue of bridge security has become a hot topic in the crypto community. These concerns were amplified on July 7, when over $100 million was mysteriously withdrawn from the Multichain bridging protocol. The Multichain team at first only referred to the withdrawals as “abnormal” but later clarified that an unknown individual had accessed the CEO’s cloud storage system to withdraw the funds without users’ consent. 3 Topics I am Exploring Right Now
There are 3 topics I am actively thinking about a lot these days:
Topic #1: Nureyev's production of the Nutcracker and how to deal with stereotyping choreographies
I first got interested in this specific production of the Nutcracker a few days ago, when I first watched its premiere on Italian tv. It was an incredible performance by the dancers, and a humongous amount of work by Manuel Legris and Aleth Fancillon, in presenting the original choreography, as well as the costumes and scenography by Nicolas Georgiadis.
However, what left me quite upset, was the presence of outright denigratory stereotypes, both in the Arab dance, with the depiction of lazy, avaricious men and overly sexualised women, and in the Chinese dance, with the outright use of yellowface.
Topic #2: Sergei Polunin and the cancel culture in the ballet world
If you haven't been living under a rock, you already know about Sergei Polunin, the "bad boy of ballet".
Once hailed as the new ballet superstar after Nureyev and Baryshnikov, he has now become a pariah in the Western World after doubling down on his support for Putin, and he has seen all of his upcoming shows in Europe cancelled.
Topic #3: diversity in the ballet world
I also have an interest in learning more about diversity in the ballet world. This is very much linked to topic #1 since it is the lack of diversity that feeds the perpetuation of backward stereotypes.
Currently reading the Diversity Report produced during the pandemic by the Paris Opera Ballet.
It would be great to connect with other people who are interested in these same topics—so if any of the above resonates, feel free to reach out!
