Jakurai’s Actions around Ramuda are so Underrated— here is why.
Tumblr media
The fact that Jakurai teaches Ramuda that it’s okay to be himself and show his emotions— the whole character arc of Ramuda Amemura— is a common trope in JakuRamu that is already discussed widely. But opposite is true, too. I want to talk about it because I rarely ever see this highlighted.
Ramuda shows Jakurai that it is okay to be himself too.
From the most “trivial” looking things like calling Jakurai’s hair beautiful, playing with it and putting it in braids when all Jakurai did was a lazy ponytail (..and in present timeline he does not even bother with that). From bringing him to a children’s park and enjoying to swing, not judging him by his age.
From saying that Jakurai can seek fun in his life.
That Jakurai is allowed to seek fun.
That he doesn’t always have to be that Big Responsible Person.
That he deserves a break from being The Hero.
That it’s okay if he doesn’t spend all his life in the war zone saving people, or murdering them, or being a mundane doctor minding his own business while raising an orphan.
That it’s okay to just— just be. I don’t think (affectionate) y’all understand how big of a thing it is for Jakurai Jinguji to actually simply exist. He is always feeling a call of duty, always seeking the scientific and philosophic explanations of everything, he feels obligated to justify all of his actions “for the benefit of humanity”, he finds worth in himself only if he is useful to other people (which also backfired as resentment, murder and insane regret at some point). Most of the time, his whole life is centered around saving. Saving saving saving. Saving the world, the orphans, the war zone, hell, even his meeting with Hifumi and Doppo is based on “saving” them from his trouble.
Tumblr media
Just a few lines I recall from numerous songs. It is always about saving people (until the last, precious six colors drama track where he admits to Ramuda that he cannot save everyone, but he will definitely save him.) He even says he will become a superman if needed and it really hits close to home and like… If you or any of your loved ones ever experienced a savior complex I think you get it.
Tumblr media
Even his raps are always about saving. Saving saving saving, healing healing healing. It is almost like he sees no inherent value in himself, for being Jakurai, at the same time he paradoxically sees such a high value in himself that he (may be feeling) feels above everyone else, like a god who can offer them a hand.
Either way, he doesn’t— can’t see himself equal to other people. Which is not a surprise, to consider Jakurai is a gifted genius and a hardworking learner in so many aspects, such as academics, fights, rapping, sports and all. He is also born in a world of war. He must have seen that there are things someone has to do to save people, that someone has to take responsibility or people will just… keep dying. Violence will keep occuring. And that’s why I’m not judging Jakurai’s god/savior complex, who knows what he has been through for all his life. (On a personal note, I can only say that I relate a portion of his experiences if not the most, as someone whose field of study is closely related to medicine. I had a strong savior complex myself back in past. It is honestly amazing to see a character go through it, I have so much sympathy and affection for him.)
After all of this, after 33 years of believing he has no value if he does not “serve” people— comes Ramuda Amemura.
Instead of “saving” him, Jakurai is instantly saved by Ramuda during a hypnosis microphone attack.
Instead of being superior to him, Jakurai learns rapping from him.
Despite having tons of experience about how things work in the human world— (such as knowing horror themed amusement parks, tea houses and all the other dates they have gone together), Jakurai never truly lives them until he goes to such places with Ramuda— theoretically, yes, Jakurai is aware of the existence of movie theatres, amusement parks, tea houses, waterfalls and various other places. He has probably visited them many times in his life.
But it is only with Ramuda that he feels comfortable enough to open up, be silly, do silly things, ask questions, be spontaneous and actually HAVE FUN. It is only because Ramuda is so bravely himself (or so Jakurai thinks, since he does not know Ramuda’s secrets at that point), never judging Jakurai, never expecting Jakurai to be Calm And Collected, instead giving him the absolute non-judgemental and affectionate place to be himself and learn what it means to live for yourself, to accept yourself as an ever learning person that is not necessarily perfect, and loving that way of him anyways. The fact that Ramuda himself is so inexperienced with life (it is literally the first or the second year of his life) and eagerly excited to just live adds up to their unique synergy and makes JakuRamu my most beloved, absolutely dear one true pairing in my heart.
Tumblr media
I have analyzed Ramuda a lot, but I wanted to highlight Jakurai too. Jakurai found the space and courage around Ramuda to be himself and be accepted as himself without having to “serve Ramuda” as a superior being and that is extremely important. Amemura Ramuda is the only one in the entire series who can unapologetically bring up such a side in Jakurai— and they are truly fascinating and deserve to be together eventually.

Hi and welcome to my professional analysis on whether the hypmic men could survive rios bootcamp. All the statements on this are facts and cannot be simply disagreed upon without proof. The assessment to each individual ranking can be found under
Rio - that's rio. easy
Ichiro - I think running around ikebukuro doing errands gives him some pretty good stamina AND strength to get through it all, could do it no problem and would possibly have fun doing it which is an added bonus for doing well
Kuko - Monk training gives him good strength and stamina to do it! Even if he couldn't do something, I feel like kuko would somehow end up doing it out of sheer spite due to others doubting him
Dice - Dice gets through so much shit I think he'd do it no problem only to die AFTER it's all done if this makes sense. Plus he does hang out with Rio so this man should have some training under his belt
Hitoya - special clause for this old man. I would put him with jakurai and rei BUT. You have to consider he deals with kuko and jyushi on basically a daily basis. Kuko alone probably gives this man strength to do it if we are being honest
Samatoki - could do it. Samatoki is pretty strong and all but I don't think this man could go through the pushups for long when we consider the state of his lungs. He has the strength but I don't think he has the proper stamina for it, however, he'd do it and just act like it's nothing
Ramuda - don't be fooled by the cute face. Ramudas high energy comes into play here and helps a lot, especially with stamina, even if the strength is lower than others. It also, however, depends highly on this thing WANTING to do the boot camp or not, which has a high chance of not wanting to unless necessary and, even if doing it, ramuda would whine throughout it.
Jiro - Ichiros brother, also doing shit around ikebukuro. The fact he's good at sports also helps a lot here! He'd do pretty well, however, even with the stamina being here, I don't think his strength is at the levels of the ones above to put him there
Hifumi - would rush through it and do it easily if only to check onto doppo who's currently dying on the floor, so it would take some small time. Gigolo would do it well but only if there are women around to impress them so it's a highly dependant case
Rosho - current maths teacher ex bad boy or whatever the shit. due to his age he has some difficulties surely BUT the strength from his past absolutely is still around. The main problem would be stamina
Jyushi - you need to scare them before and then they'd be rushing through everything to get it done quickly. Also highly dependant on if the vkei clothes are actually there or not, if they are, they're passing out almost immediately due to heat
Doppo - i don't think this man knows what an exercise is, you could easily fold him in half. Lives his life in an office and getting home just cries himself to sleep like the average office worker in Japan. F.
Gentaro - Oya do you really think I could not do this Daisu ufufu ^-^ immediately falls to the floor and passes out. Look at the way this man dresses. Another case of heatstroke in this cast. Even if he was wearing lighter clothes he's a writer and reader, does not even know what an exercise is meant to look like. Would instead pull a book out of nowhere and read while the others go through the bootcamp
Saburo - 14 years old hacker who absolutely stays up late doing tech stuff. Do I need to say more.
Sasara - he'd do one push up and a silly goofyass sound effect like point would play. It means his spine broke.
Jyuto - cop + look at the way he's built
Jakurai - he is healthy, don't get me wrong! However his old man bones aren't meant for this anymore!!!!!! Just let him rest. While the others are doing the push-ups just let him go to these public elder academy places
Rei - dies in 13 seconds max.

Ramuda Amemura Chart Analysis
For each post, I’m gonna chart with a character’s big three (Sun, Moon, and Rising) because these are the most important aspects of one’s chart. After that, I’ll talk about the most interesting aspects of the chart outside of the big three. I’ll do relationship analysis separately because otherwise I’ll go insane and these will be WAY too long.
The Sun sign represents the ego; who we are at the core. This is why when somebody asks for your sign — this is the one you given them.
The Moon sign represents one’s deep emotions, how they choose to express (or not express them), and what makes us feel comforted.
The Rising sign represents the ‘mask’ that somebody wears. Or perhaps more fully put, it’s the impression that somebody gets upon meeting you for the first time. Of course, this can also play into our own self-image as well.
Now that those explanations are out of the way, let’s start with Ramuda’s chart:
Tumblr media
For Ramuda, I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do for his birth time? And then I was like “oh wait, what if I literally use a random number generator LMAO”
It gave me 736 (out of 2359) and tbh it worked out really well for Ramuda?? I’m honestly surprised. Ramuda is an Aquarius Sun, Scorpio Moon, Pisces Rising.
(More below the cut so I don’t clog the tags)
PISCES RISING: Pisces is a water sign, which means it’s an emotionally based sign. Pisces in particular is known for being intuitive, artistic, dreamy, and open-minded. Because of this, Pisces people are very adept when it comes to creative matters, especially in terms of visual mediums (like fashion design) or music (like the division rap battles). Often, they give off the energy that they are to be protected because Pisces is stereotypically called the crybaby of the zodiac due to their strong emotions (see also: Jyushi, a Pisces Moon). Unlike the other two water signs (Cancer and Scorpio) Pisces is more vulnerable about their emotions. They like to learn about other people, and so they’re willing to share their experiences and emotions to connect with them. They can often be alluring to other people because they give off the impression that there’s more to them than meets the eye.
I think Pisces rising is an interesting fit for Ramuda because Pisces people are usually deeply empathetic (sometimes to a fault), which is something that we see Ramuda struggle with at times. However, I think it fits the way that Ramuda wants to be perceived by others: He’s (at times) overly friendly, picks up on others’ intentions quickly, and is very emotionally expressive in order to try and gain the sympathy of others. When he decides to take control of his life and become a better person, I think we see the more evolved form of Pisces come out: Empathy for others, wanting to better himself as a person, and desire to dig deeper into deeper, subconscious issues. Another thing that we see happen here which is typical of someone with Pisces energy is that Ramuda equates self-sacrificing with repentance for his actions, likely because he’s overwhelmed by his own feelings of guilt (telling others they can “kill him” if they want, telling Jakurai he shouldn’t exist, etc).
AQUARIUS SUN: Aquarius is an air sign (I know, confusing). Air signs are typically quick-witted, logical, and animated, though it varies depending on what other energies are in the chart. Aquarius is frequently categorized as being both a free spirit and an eccentric. However, in contrast to the other air signs, Aquarius is more aloof. They are frequently bored by the world around them and feel the need to do things differently from the crowd. Aquarius is the quintessential ‘quirky’ sign of the zodiac, and their toxic trait is that they push others away with the assumption that nobody else can understand their specific brand of weirdness. They then wallow in their own loneliness. (I’m an Aquarius, so I’m allowed to say this LOL.) However, Aquarians are also particularly bright. They are known for rejecting the status quo and doing things their own way, so they are frequently innovators. They are also particularly good at coming up with bold and new ideas, as their sign is associated with the planet of epiphanies (Uranus). Aquarians are also usually humanitarians (username origin unlocked lol); deeply invested in bettering the world for all people. The Aquarius Sun placement is actually in “detriment”, which means the energy of the planet and the energy of the sign are opposites, so Aquarius Sun can be an uncomfortable placement to have. Furthermore, as an intellect-based air sign, they are a bit distanced from their emotions. They need to understand why something is happening in order to fully accept it, so they tend to intellectualize their feelings and interactions with others.
I feel like this placement is a pretty good read on Ramuda’s character and who he is at his core. On the one hand, Aquarius is aloof, calculating, and good at idea development. They can be friendly, but they’re a little hard to fully read because they often see no need to express how they are truly feeling. This is what I like to describe as the Ramuda’s ‘programmed in’ traits. It’s part of him because it’s what he was ‘born to be’; it’s how he was made by Rei and Chuuoku. Of course, I think it’s important to note that this doesn’t make this part of Ramuda any more or less real. He still has these traits, regardless of whether he’s being controlled by Chuuoku or not. He just gets to decide what to do with them for himself now.
Simultaneously, Aquarius is also rebellious, freedom-seeking, eccentric, and humanitarian. They ultimately want what is good for others on a larger scale. We can see that all of these things are also true for Ramuda. He ultimately rebels against Chuuoku when their orders don’t suit him, he has a desire to be free and decide what to do with his life for himself, his fashion sense and designs are all rather quirky and colorful (also see: Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, another Aquarius Sun with quirky, bright fashion sense), his peers tend to regard him as a bit “weird”, and when left to his own devices, Ramuda tends to choose the kind thing to do (ex: returning Amanda to the temple grounds after he steals her, choosing to save Gentaro and Dice over running away and saving himself, coming clean to Kuuko and Sasara and attempting to make amends, apologizing to Jakurai, etc.).
The placement of Ramuda’s Sun (12th house) is also important here. The 12th house is the house of self-destruction, sacrifice, and the deep unconscious. In a way, this is also how Chuuoku becomes so attached to Ramuda’s sun, because all they don’t expect Ramuda to have a ‘self’ in the first place. All they desire is for him to be a tool and then, later, a sacrifice. The self-destructive tendencies of the 12th house also affect Ramuda’s Sun Sign. We can see that before he has the chance to safely consider what the purpose of his life might be that he pushes away anybody who comes close to uncovering it, therefore also pushing away anyone who might have potentially been able to help him.
In terms of the deep unconscious, something that is common with Sun in the 12th house individuals is that they need time alone in order to truly reflect and become more self-aware. We can see this to be true with Ramuda, only really deeply reflecting on his situation and the purpose of his life when he is alone. This is in direct contrast to Gentaro, who uses his friends almost as a mirror to better understand his own shortcomings. Of course, Ramuda’s friends are also a central part of his journey and struggle to find purpose and happiness, but it isn’t until Ramuda is fully alone that he can truly start to internalize what he’s learned about himself, as well as his wants and needs.
SCORPIO MOON: This is, quite frankly, the CRUX of Ramuda’s chart. Perhaps more than anything else here. Scorpio is a complicated sign to say the least. It’s a water sign, so it is deeply emotional. Actually, I would argue that Scorpio has the most intense emotions out of the whole zodiac. They’re very good at seeing through people because they’re very intuitive, and they can use this information both to help and to harm others. I think the Pisces Rising to Scorpio Moon dynamic actually represents the light and dark sides of Ramuda really well. Both are very emotionally charged, but Pisces has a kind of curious and kind energy to it whereas Scorpio has a decidedly dark energy to it. It sends the message, “don’t get too close, or you’ll get stung,” much like the scorpion itself. This is because Scorpio DEEP seated trust issues which often happen as a result of intense trauma (see also: Sasara and Samatoki, two Scorpio Suns). They’re almost like a water sign that doesn’t want you to know they’re a water sign, because they fear that their own emotions will be used against them (much like they are able to do with other people). They keep their emotions under wraps and wait for proof that they can trust you before they really open up (ex: Ramuda continuing to push Dice and Gentaro away until the moment they come to save his life, pushing Jakurai away when he says he’ll save him). Once they trust you, they’re loyal for life and they expect the same from you. They take any form of hurt or betrayal extremely seriously, regardless of the intention, and they break more easily than the front they put up would have you believe. Scorpio Moon people are also incredibly good at having dirt on absolutely everybody. Whether they come off that way or not, they’re nosy motherfuckers who just naturally good detective skills. They always have ‘sources’ on people (just in case), though it isn’t always with ill intent. (And yes, Jyuto also has a Scorpio Moon LOL).
Scorpio Moon can be a particularly hard placement to have because it is in what astrologers call “fall”. As opposed to detriment (which is just like, uncomfy feeling), fall is basically an active disadvantage. It’s always my perspective that there are no ‘bad’ placements in astrology. It’s all about finding your weaknesses and strengths and using those to better yourself. Scorpio Moon is in fall here because it creates a self-sabotaging cycle that can be really hard to break out of unless it is actively worked on (which Ramuda really hasn’t had a chance to do since he’s been in survival mode up until now). On the one hand, his moon makes him a liability for the people who determine whether he gets to live or die. On the other hand, his paranoia about hiding this truth drives away anyone who would potentially help him. And this betrayal forces Ramuda to build up another wall and to believe that what Chuuoku tells him about his own emotions is actually true. That’s why Gentaro and Dice are SO important here. They help him break that cycle and change his world view a little bit.
Ramuda’s Scorpio Moon is particularly intense for a few reasons. The first of which is that it’s in the 8th house. As I’ve mentioned in previous installments of this series, the 8th house represents areas of life that are taboo, secrets, or otherwise hidden within. So Ramuda’s emotions are taboo to himself, likely because of the constant insistence from the people in charge of him that his emotions are a “flaw” or a “defect”. The 8th house is also ruled by Scorpio, which basically doubles the power of this placement. It’s super intense, and it’s conjunct with his Pluto in Scorpio in the 8th house (we’ll talk more about that later) which means the most paranoid and distrustful part of him is directly connected to his intense emotional state. It’s not necessarily a recipe for success? However, this also means that once somebody has earned his trust, he becomes bonded to them for life. Scorpio is a very transformative sign that implies a kind of trial-by-fire that Ramuda has to endure. I like to think of a Phoenix rising from the ashes a little bit? In the long run, overcoming this is going to make Ramuda into a really strong person! I’m looking forward to seeing where the narrative takes him from here!
OTHER INTERESTING PARTS OF RAMUDA’S CHART:
ARIES VENUS IN THE FIRST HOUSE: Aries is a very fiery and passionate sign, but they don’t like to sit still for too long. They are constantly moving onto the next thing. As a result, Aries Venus (planet of love and affection) individuals can sometimes like the chase more than the idea of a relationship itself. They are prone to move on to new lovers and new experiences, but they are very passionate and fun lovers. I think this matches up really well with the playboy image that he’s created for himself: Making it clear that he’s here for a good time not a long time LOL
The first house is the house of self and self-image. Since Ramuda struggles with this, we can see that the house is mostly empty. However, Venus being here lines up with what he know about Ramuda: Namely that the playboy persona/lifestyle was something he chose for himself, and therefore the only thing that he feels like he really knows about himself. This might be why he defaults to this a fair portion of the time.
SCORPIO PLUTO IN THE 8TH HOUSE/ PLUTO CONJUNCT MOON: I talked about this briefly in Gentaro’s relationship analysis, but I’ll rehash the Pluto in the 8th house stuff here because it’s particularly important for Ramuda as a character. Pluto is the planet of power dynamics (i.e. where you feel powerful and powerless), secrets, and spiritual death/rebirth. It can represent the start of a difficult journey that changes you as a person, or a big life lesson that needs to be learned. It can also represent a big secret that needs to be hidden. I’ve already described both Scorpio and the 8th house above. The thing about the combination of these three things is that they all share the same energy. Certain houses and planets in astrology are “ruled” by specific signs, and Scorpio happens to rule both Pluto and the 8th house. What this means is that the energy of this placement happens threefold, and it becomes supercharged. So Ramuda’s secret is EXTRA big and he’s EXTRA worried about it potentially getting out.
Then you have the conjunct with his moon. In very basic terms, a conjunct in astrology happens when certain celestial bodies are very close to each other in a person’s chart. When this happens, the energies of the bodies combine and they act together instead of independently. So basically, this Scorpio Pluto placement fuses with Ramuda’s emotional state. So whatever I wrote about Ramuda’s Scorpio Moon being intense? Just like, DOUBLE that.
SUN CONJUNCT SATURN: Saturn is a planet that represents restrictions and rules. Since it’s tied to his Sun Sign, this is likely why Ramuda has such a hard time disobeying authority until Gentaro and Dice come in. His more aloof sun and the authoritarian Saturn kind of work together in that regard. It’s very hard for him to break from orders because that’s literally tied to his sense of self.
SUN SQUARE MOON: This is a really important aspect for Ramuda too! Squares, like conjuncts, are another aspect in astrology. However unlike conjuncts, squares indicate tension between two energies. They represent an inner conflict that you have to put in conscious work to resolve. Ramuda happens to have a conflict between two MAJOR parts of himself: His Sun (the “self/ego” sign) and his Moon (“the emotions/comfort” sign). Part of Ramuda’s central conflict is trying to figure out what his life is for and who he is now that he’s no longer a Chuuoku agent. This means learning how to marry these two conflicting parts of himself.
NORTH NODE IN THE 9TH HOUSE: Every chart has what are called North and South Nodes. The South Node represents the karmic debts and skills that you brought with you from your previous life/lives into this life. The North Node represents what you are karmically meant to achieve in this life. Ramuda’s North Node in particular is in Sagittarius in the 9th house. The 9th house represents philosophy and searching for higher meaning in life, and Sagittarius is a sign that is very optimistic, honest, and adventurous. What we can glean from this is that Ramuda’s karmic purpose in this life is to find purpose. It’s to have a grand adventure with his friends and become more optimistic about life. It’s a really sweet sentiment.
INTERCEPTS AND DUPLICATES: Okay, last one! Sometimes in a chart we have what are called intercepts. Essentially what that means is that a sign gets completely engulfed in one of the houses, and that can indicate that this was an area of life that either wasn’t encouraged (passively) or was discouraged (actively) in this person’s life. The amount that this effects a person usually depends on how many celestial bodies are in said house. For Ramuda, the 1st house (self and self-image) and the 7th house (interpersonal relationships) are intercepted, so we can infer that these areas of Ramuda’s life were affected. Whenever there are intercepts in a person’s chart, there are also duplicates. Duplicates are basically the exact opposite of intercepts. Instead of a specific sign being swallowed up by a house, it rules two houses (aka, it has two spokes in the sign instead of just one). Ramuda has duplicates in the 2nd house (what belongs to you, mostly physical) and the 8th house (taboos, secrets, and the hidden). So we can determine that Ramuda’s deep emotions and possessions (see: Empty Candy/Fling Posse Inc.) can actually be used as strengths to help Ramuda to develop the areas in the 1st and 7th houses!

Lillian's Thoughts on Toyama Division
Tumblr media
Asato Rikiya
"Asato Rikiya, also known as 'AR Master'. Subject seems to shy away from social interaction, due to having little to no social skills, and for his blunt and unapologetic behavior. Despite that, subject is well-known throughout his city of Toyama, and by many other prominent people in the D.R.B. Subject is also well-known for the quality of his produce, which he personally oversees. It is quite popular with many bartenders and restaurant owners.
"Besides that, subject is also known for his love of family, with his grandmother being his own well-known family member, sources say. It is believed he entered this D.R.B. at his grandmother's behest."
Yano Ietsuna
"Yano Ietsuna, also known as 'Y-Starr'. Like previous subject, Asato Rikiya, subject is well-known throughout Japan for his craft, which involves creating and designing glass sculptures, which, public opinion states is quite artistic and unique. Subject has been commissioned numerous times for his work, as a result.
"However, subject appears to have very bad control over his emotions. Subject appears to dislike criticism, constructive or not, and dislikes any sort of confrontation, as such things can push his emotions over the edge. His personality seems to closely resemble that of Jyushi Aimono's of Nagoya Division.
"Besides that, subject seems to have an intense disliking and disdain for Dice Arisugawa of Shibuya Division. The reason for this is currently unknown. This action has caused him to be alienated from some of the gambler's friends, it seems. Time will tell whether their relationship will aid Chuohku in some way."
Kensaku Morimoto
"Kensaku Morimoto, also known as 'Dr. K Tone'. Unlike previous subjects, Asato Rikiya and Yano Ietsuna, subject doesn't appear to be as well-known as his teammates. Subject works as a medical researcher at a pharmacy that using botanical research to develop medicine, which results show appear to be quite effective with children.
"Subject appears to have an easygoing attitude, along with a penchant for telling puns and jokes. It is believed his way of ignoring potential issues or problems. Public opinion states that subject should stick to what he knows. Besides that, subject appears to have an acquaintanceship with Jakurai Jinguji of Shinjuku Division. It is unknown at this time how the two have met or what their exact relationship is.
"Subject appears to also have a disdain for Chuohku, due to the belief that they may have done something to alter his memories. This may be his secret reason for entering the D.R.B., which is unknown to even his teammates."
ECO BooN
"I do not wish to quote Mei, but I also must question why Otome-sama sent Hypnosis Microphones to these individuals. She offered no explanation when asked, simply stating that it would 'make things more interesting'. I do not know what Otome-sama means by this, but public opinion believes this is her way of perhaps acquiring more research for the Hypnosis Microphones.
"If confrontation is unavoidable, then dealing with Subject Morimoto should be the first course of action, as his ability could causes problems. Subject Rikiya should be dealt with next, and finally Subject Ietsuna. However, despite their friendship with each other, public opinion believes this team may lose before we deal with them.
"Report and analysis on Toyama Division team, ECO BooN, is complete. Moving on to next available assignment."

Before I answer any more asks, I just remembered I told a friend I might toss down an FP/M+ 5 analysis, so here I am! Let’s get started. Since there’s so much about FP/M+ 5, I’ll just talk about Amanda, because I love her.
For the purpose of making BAT form, Ramuda steals Amanda during one of Jyushi’s concerts, resulting in Jyushi losing it and crying on stage when he notices that Amanda’s gone from her usual seat (and now I’m distracted by how nice Jyushi’s bandmates are bc Amanda has a seat at the side of the stage just out of sight of the audience like awwwww).
Anyway, fast forward to after BAT forms. Ramuda observes from the side of the temple like the lil sneaky gremlin he is, out of sight, and now that he completed his orders he has one last thing to deal with. Amanda! Who he hid inside his hoodie. He wonders if he should throw it away... but doesn’t, and gives Amanda to Kuko’s dad before he leaves and has a crisis.
Now! Ramuda is used to being called an object. He’s spent his entire life being referred as such, being dehumanized and hating it, and every weakness he’s shown is weaponized against him (when Jakurai called him an artificial entity during their confrontation on the rooftop in TDD... when Jakurai had learned before that Ramuda hated being referred to as artificial... pain pain pain). In fact, he even calls himself a puppet when talking with Ichijiku earlier this chapter! This immediately gives him a sort of connection to Amanda, because they’re both things.
When Ramuda’s no longer useful, he’ll be thrown away. Now that BAT has formed, Amanda is also no longer useful to Ramuda. So the question here is: should Ramuda throw Amanda away? He certainly considers it, but he’s well aware of how loved she is by Jyushi. Along with this--there are no consequences to him, personally, if he decides to throw Amanda away or return her to Jyushi. He has no orders to throw her away, nothing will happen to him if he returns her to Jyushi, there are no strings attached to this decision.
Which is why, when he gives her to Kuko’s dad, it shows how kind he can be, when he isn’t concerned with his survival. He could have just as easily thrown her away, but he didn’t. He thinks about how much Jyushi loves her and chooses to make Jyushi happy, even if Jyushi wouldn’t know it was him that returned Amanda.
(The stageplay and anime Ramudas are a tad more spiteful and would probably throw Amanda away, buuuuut I draw more from the manga and drama tracks so)
It’s likely a decision that reminded him heavily of what’ll happen to him when he’s no longer useful. When he turns to Kuko’s dad, his eyes are closed and his smile is big--likely a fake one. When he gives Amanda to him, his eyes almost seem to have no light in them--they’re dull, even though he’s still smiling. (And right after this, as he leaves, he coughs up blood. He is breaking, and he knows it.)
Amanda is loved, and it’s a kindness to give her back to the one who loves her. Ramuda does not believe he is loved, and does not expect the same to be given to him once his usefulness is up. Even so, he is kind at his core, and if he had more freedom (and a complete lack of consequences), he may choose to be kind every chance that he could.

i was rewatching fp’s division study guide and they had a segment comparing ramuda’s use of his pronouns and seeing the change from ‘boku,’ a typically neutral pronoun for boys and frequently used by young men, to ‘ore,’ a much manlier pronoun, over the years is really interesting

I don't know if this will all come together but I've had some thoughts about the good doctor as of late. Namely his connection or lack thereof and the ones that 'see him' the most. I don't think it's really surprising to anyone that Jakurai is really bad at communication but I think part of the reason it's so bad is because of the pedestal that others put him on. I think his situation fits this quote: “I'm constantly surrounded by love and praise; but when you're placed on a pedestal like that for so long, you become separated from the people that put you there in the first place. Everyone assumes I'm too good for them - that I'm on a level that they simply can't attain. It's become impossible to form any sort of meaningful relationship with people.”
I don’t think Jakurai is quite that aware of himself in the respect of him knowing that others think he’s too good. Chaser from the Past points when Hitoya voices annoyance and Jakurai feels blindsided by Hitoya’s feelings. And he also failed to realize the feelings of that other doctor from the prelims of how he made the guy feel threatened and not good enough as a surgeon. I do honestly think Jakurai doesn’t have ill will when it comes to his accomplishments--I believe an older interview with Hayami-san has that he thinks Jakurai is very kind--but that he’s been on a pedestal so long, he doesn’t realize how much of a struggle it is to get to those heights or the problems from down below because of his vantage point. What he sees is not the same from those not standing where he is. And that keeps causing trouble for him.
But him breaking from that isn’t easy. Especially when he has basically chained himself to it. Because while Jakurai might be a bit lacking in knowing what his pedestal does to those around him, he has never forgotten who put him there. People have put him there. People that admire him. People that rely on him as a doctor. People that come to him for guidance or simple someone stable in their lives. There’s so many that put him there. And Jakurai has never forgotten that. He can’t. Not when it’s so often that he sees the respect he commands. Not when they call him a saint. Not when everyone close to him brings up temperament and decisions.
Jakurai is chained to people’s perception of him and lets himself be tied to it both because he doesn’t know any other way and because he doesn’t want what these people put faith into to be empty. I feel this is the main reason why Jakurai doesn’t entrust his feelings and for a while his past to Hifumi and Doppo, despite them being his teammates and closest confidants. Despite them from ‘Just a Friend’ to ‘If We Hesitate…’ and progressing from curiosity to begging for him to lean on them. Unfortunately those two ultimately fall in with those that prop him up. He cannot betray their expectation.
And what’s sad is I think Jakurai was close to letting them be his support. That is until they voiced they thought he could solve the problem better either way and ignored when he was trying to voice his humanity. It was a terrible reminder of where they stand. That he has to be this invincible figure--Superman--to both his teammates and those that put their respect in him. Because there has to be a reason why it’s him in this position. There has to be something behind why they put him up here. There has to be! Otherwise....what was the point of doing so?
Which is what makes Ramuda and Hitoya interesting to Jakurai as they’re both people that have seen his humanity. Not by his nastiness...but because they’re only people that’s really seen Jakurai do stupid shit. Like sure there’s his anger and his pride but really I find what’s humbling and human about people are when they do stupid or mundane things. While yes, TDD and Matenrou have seen Jakurai completely wasted...it isn’t the same as say, watching him sulk about hitting his head or how you tricked him to do something that’s absolutely crazy. Ramuda and Hitoya are the closest to knowing the man Jakurai actually is by virtue of being a mentor and friend respectively.
And honestly...they’re the people Jakurai need the most right now in the story. He needs someone that can tell him ‘no,’ someone that challenges him. He needs that because no one else will. And unless either of them do so after this round, I feel like Jakurai is just getting set up for further ruin of his own making. He’s going to fall and find out for the first time and in a horrible manner what it’s like to bleed.

tbh wish i the opportunity to go in depth with mtr's sea/land/sky motif more often because i'm a sucker for that kind of stuff
doppo is the sea, ebbing and flowing like the waves. one minute he can be as still as the waters on a quiet day and the next he can be a raging storm
hifumi is the land, stability -- home. the heart of matenrou, he's the one who grounds the others when they're at their down points
jakurai is the sky, all encompassing and ever present. he's always there to watch over the others and make sure nothing happens to them

Ikebukuro is the tree sprouting upward.
Yokohama is the cold ice.
Shibuya is the glass that refracts colorful rays.
Shinjuku is the steel that can be as firm and sharp as possible.
So Shibuya is basically the prism( *´艸`)
Specifically, the dispersive prism that is capable of breaking white light into a spectrum of rainbow!
Did you know that when those refracted rays pass another prism, they return to the original white color?( ・ω・)ノ
If FP is a prism, then what would be the another prism that recollects the lights refracted by them? (* ´ ▽ ` *)

(Different anon) Regarding the last ask and foreshadowing, have you listened to the Hypmic Hangout song yet? It's super good! ❤ There's a part in there tho that caught my attention. :O It's not a big detail, but Jakurai's part has weird siren like sounds in the background. Could this mean something? 🤔 Idk what to make of it lol, so I am requesting the help of your expert analysis skills! 🙏 (maybe it's nothing, idk) Ty! 💕
I did indeed listen to it. Hmm... let's see.
Jakurai's verse says (I'm doing this very literally, btw, and not caring at all for style. Anything in brackets is an assumption on subject/object and not explicitly stated):
A gloomy timezone without the hint of a person nearby [The scenario I'm currently talking about is] set in the bottom [of] A cold place A subcontract job weighing [me] down Am [I] able to kill [Your] breath and footsteps? Today I'm an angler suspended in [the] limbo [of] The routine, along with my friends who exist at fate's mercy Go to work as a doctor, Okutama Lake [note: this is a lake near Tokyo [My] night shift ends, gather [up my friends] And go [to the lake]
Despite the segue into the fishing talk, this is a lot heavier than Jakurai's normal raps in terms of how personal it sounds for him. He sounds burntout, for one... but the use of the "kill" makes me suspect more that he's referring to the weight of guilt from his previous career bearing down on him. In that case, those siren sounds you're hearing could very easily be referring to his manipulation of life and death as both a doctor and assassin. Even if they aren't supposed to be ambulance sirens, they at the very least make it sound unsettling.
I noticed there are lots of crosses (as in the Red Cross, not Christian crosses) in the background of the Matenrou part. That's probably to create a hospital theme too, so you could be right on the money!

Tonight Before The Bed I Want To Tell Why I’m Writing This Tag
Tonight before the bed I was thinking about a lovely and sad headcanon about how Rio and Dice might have first met. It’s a headcanon that is likely not going to be canon since we know by the last chapter that Dice didn’t run away from home until he was 16-17, but for the sake of the prompt I’ll write it down. But I saved it as a draft to elaborate later instead because I would like to go to sleep as soon as possible.
That aside, I want to thank everyone who liked/reblogged my posts! 💖 I edited all of them to be a proper title because it was difficult to distinguish the notifications when all posts started with “Tonight Before The Bed”. I know this blog does not have much followers compared to my main blog— but to consider I started posting here without expecting any interaction at all, it is honestly a blessing to see that my posts are read and enjoyed by other fans! (I actually don’t like the word fans/readers, we all are here over talking about the things we enjoy! So friends it is!)
Tumblr media
I have actually started drabbling these thoughts as a mental-exercise to let go of perfectionism. It has been difficult for me to talk about HypMic in public because I either gush and co-plot/make headcanons with my partner or I cry to my best friend on hours and hours about how much I love about JakuRamu, but the only public things I posted until these drabbles were the neat, well-organized fanfictions on AO3.
Which is pretty funny, actually, because those who know me, KNOWS that I am a HYPE person, an extrovert who actually just TAAAALLLLKKKKKSSSS and POSSSTTSSS!! But I guess…
I guess, something held me back about Hypmic. I’m not sure what. Definitely not something negative, though! Perhaps because I’ve had been on a stressful stage of my life that I didn’t feel energy to show myself not as The Cool Fanfic Author but Grace herself, because I’m a bit— a bit 👉🏻👈🏻 of a perfectionist. So it’s either each fic will be really polished, or they will be roleplayed until conclusion with my partner, or they will not be published at all.
Which is bullshit, honestly.
I’ve had my fair share of perfectionism ruining my life so I thought to myself—
Hey.
Tumblr media
What if you just, ✨ post? ✨
Without editing? Without writing multi-chapter long fanfics about it that are likely going to be abandoned once it gets tiring to flash out the next chapter even though you already planned the ending?
So you mean it’s enough to say “I’m thinking about Samatoki Aohitsugi” or “This JakuRamu line is so cool!” or “Just a one sentence fanfic idea” instead of turning them into a novella?
..and to be honest, since ramuda-kinnie did not have a lot of followers and since I could not see much Hypmic content on recent Tumblr tags, I thought they wouldn’t really get any attention at all. Which might be discouraging for the past-me since I’m used to being recognized for my writing. (Which I appreciate with all my heart! ❤️) So when I started posting it was not for a particular audience.
Tumblr media
I was just testing the waters.
How would it feel for my brain to let these out?
Would it make me get bored of Hypmic/bored of this discussion because I already wrote them here? (In a sense they would be completed, so, hypothetically, they might not suffice the dopamines for me.) I honestly thought they would, but… To my surprise it backfired! It backfired in a GREAT WAY THAT I COULD NOT EVER SEE COMING—
Not only did it become a lovely habit to drabble my thoughts here each night, it gave me more self-awareness through character analyses, it made me recap & rethink what is important for me, why I like a particular scene, what about a character I love, what this says to me as a person and how I can get better in my personal relationships and my relationships with myself by appreciating the parts of Hypmic that I love (refer to last Samatoki post, such an inspiration he is!).
It also put an end to my mind aimlessly coming back to half-shaped headcanons or ideas that were never voiced or not planned to be a full fanfic. I do keep a journal for personal matters, so writing Hypmic drabbles here made a similar effect— helped me to put them out instead of them working on the background of my mind.
But here is the thing that shocked me.
Instead of “letting go” because I “put them out”, it only made my love for Hypmic… stronger?? Like how?? It made me go through my blog happily even if the post has 2 likes (THANK YOU MY TWO NEW BESTIES ILY) because hey. It’s out there. I wrote it. I wrote it for characters I love and even if it does not get immediate attention, it’s okay because I didn’t write them for recognizion. (I don’t think wanting validation over your art/fic is anything to be ashamed of, btw, it is well deserved! I totally want my fics to be well read and make readers happy! But for these specific drabbles, getting reads was not my goal.)
I wrote them mostly for myself, and for people who may be struggling the same. Having that Fic Idea but too drained to say it so you do Nothing. Loving a character or a ship but tag is so Silent you just wonder if you’re the only person on the earth loving them (felt so with JakuRamu EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE ALMOST CANON LIKE WHY).
It was also… Self-respect, I guess. Because I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try to do something imperfect. Talk to a fandom with whom I have only made few (bUT ABSOLUTELY GREAT ilsym) friends with. I didn’t know what to expect through Tumblr interactions (but I expected to get not much).
But…
No matter what, I wanted to let my thoughts out, so even if the tags are silent, I could be the voice I wanted. I love my partner by all means but sometimes you gotta be your own Prince Charming, right? It was like that. I wanted to make myself and (if there is, which there is) who may enjoy reading them happy! I wanted to say, hey! Life is difficult but here is a cute thought I had! How lucky and blessed we are that we have Tumblr, a not so toxic social media platform (unlike instagram and tiktok etc., not about fanbase or anything literally the algorithm and selling strategies and influencers and everything are soooo suffocating that I quit them 3 months ago), where I can post them, add images, change the colors of text according to character theme and even add tags so we can find them!!! Here!!!!! I baked this!!! For us!!! I hope you enjoy!! ❤️
….sort of logic.
Tumblr media
That’s why, here is a big thanks and good night wishes those of you who liked and/or reblogged the posts!!! Added tags!!!! Made my little psychological exercise A LOT more enjoyable!!! Showed me I’m not alone! Or just overall interacted with posts! It makes me soooo happy! I hope you have a great day/night ahead and I hope you have the courage and inspiration to say the things that are important to you as well. Even if they sound trivial. Even if it’s just a half, incomplete idea. As long as you want to say it, as long as it makes you happy. Go for it, honestly. You all made me so happy by the interactions! Thank you so much! Have a great night! 💖
P.S. Thank you to those who put Ramuda gifs on tumblr’s database. 🍀 Their credit appears bottom right of each gif, respectively!

The Presentation of Hifumi’s Trauma
Tumblr media
I’ve been thinking on how Hifumi’s trauma has been presented for years now, and with the release of Bad Ass Temple VS Matenro, I feel like now’s as good a time as any to give my thoughts on this.
Note: This is in no way a defense of KR for the presentation of Hifumi’s trauma, but it is an analysis of such. I’m open to discussion on this and you’re free to disagree with me at any point on this. Most of this was also written BEFORE the release of the album, save for the last section.
CW: Mentions of abuse, trauma and rape + spoilers of the MTR dramatrack
I hear a lot that the presentation of Hifumi’s trauma is a ‘poor attempt at humour’, but I don’t exactly think it’s that simple. It is still a presentation of trauma, but it’s not portrayed as humorous in comparison to the rest of the humour of the series.
NARRATIVE
Hifumi panics when he sees women. He is unable to do anything until women are removed from the scene - but these instances are hardly ever the focus of the scene. It’s mostly used as a scene cutter to progress the story. When Chuo enters, Hifumi’s panic cuts off the situation and the focus shifts straight to the women. When the women find Hifumi, Doppo, Gentaro and Dice, Hifumi’s jacket is taken away to shift focus off of the women and to have Gentaro and Dice speak. Rather, Hifumi’s panic at these times are plot movers and not the focal point of the scene. Sadly, they can be seen as plot devices, but it’s not supposed to be seen as humour.
Tumblr media
In addition to this, the ‘hysterical’ screaming (for lack of a better word) in the presence of women is limited to the dramatracks. In the manga and the anime, Hifumi runs away/removes himself from the presence of women. The purpose of Hifumi’s hysteria in the dramatracks is for visualisation purposes as there’s no visual aids - the reactions to women are toned down in the anime and manga. With this, it’s easier to believe that the anime and manga is the ‘intended’ portrayal of his reactions as the dramatrack has to make up for what isn’t seen.
PRESENTATION
The narrative is very aware that Hifumi’s trauma affects him badly. It’s a panic response. But it’s not the same as a panic attack. We know how awful the presentation of such can be, and it’s definitely something triggering for a lot of people. Personally, I would feel horrible to see him have a panic attack every time he saw a woman. KR doesn’t want to make his discomfort the focus of the scene either. Simply put, I think his trauma response is a part of the scene, but has less plot purpose than what is going on around it.
Tumblr media
Trauma can be presented in different ways, but it’s more controlled to see only a glimpse of how trauma has affected Hifumi. There are other ways of showing this trauma and how it’s affected Hifumi that HPMI has already covered: Hifumi being unable to take off his suit jacket, behavioural change when wearing the jacket, his extremely warped perception of danger when his life is threatened etc. He’s spent 10 years adapting to the trauma and is in a stage of recovery as he’s going to confront his said abuser. If we were compounding this plot point with an idea of a Hifumi that is always having panic attacks, then we would have a Hifumi that is clearly not ready to deal with what he wants.
COMPARISON
We know the writers can portray trauma as such from Jyushi’s backstory. If we remember the fandom response, there were people who were legitimately triggered to varying degrees by what happened to Jyushi’s grandmother and the severe bullying he suffered. Really, I believe that Hifumi’s trauma hasn’t been the forefront of scenes because narratively it’s not the time for this to happen yet.
Tumblr media
There seems to be a ‘trauma-porn’ narrative around the need to have Hifumi’s trauma played out ‘correctly. Trauma porn is media that showcases a group’s pain and trauma in excessive amounts for the sake of entertainment. There’s no need right now to show the extent of how badly Hifumi has been affected, because his trauma isn’t the focal point of the story or his character. His past is about to be shown, but it shouldn’t be what defines Hifumi as a character. And even more importantly so, there’s no ‘right’ version of trauma to portray.
HONOBONO
[ This section is written post Bad Ass Temple VS Matenro’s dramatrack.]
There are no redeeming qualities to Honobono, the source of Hifumi’s trauma. She’s despised by Chuohku and kept around for her ‘usefulness’, and Doppo was unsure of Hifumi going to confront his own abuser. However, in the recent dramatrack, Hifumi’s power is taken away from him in Honobono forcing herself into his space. This is the first time we’ve ever seen Hifumi have an explosion of emotions; ‘a typical image of a panic attack’. It is an audibly uncomfortable scene, just as Jyushi’s backstory was to read. There are different levels to trauma responses that HPMI has shown us with the 1st season’s Hifumi with short moments, but this instance is long and drawn out with guttural screaming.
HPMI was always perfectly capable of showing trauma, but for a listener, to hear this sort of occurrence every time around a woman would be potentially harmful. At this moment, Hifumi was nearly completely paralysed, suffering a breakdown of his identity by switching pronouns and screaming (similar to Gentaro’s breakdown at the insult of his clothes). It is difficult to listen to this. I don’t believe you would’ve wanted to hear this every time Hifumi was reminded of Honobono. We’ve even learned that the abuse might not have been dealt directly to Hifumi but to his family - we see Hifumi’s love for his family here in being so torn by her actions, and how trauma does not have to deal with someone directly either.  However, the first instances of Hifumi’s trauma were more ‘digestible’ for a viewer, and they set us up for this moment. It was good that Hifumi’s panic responses were less heavy than the blow we’ve been dealt with this dramatrack.
In meeting Hifumi, Honobono greets her with “Hi-Fu-Mi”, just like how Hifumi says his own name in songs. It is most likely that Honobono said his name like this when they were in highschool; for Hifumi to use it in his songs now can be seen as a reclamation of his identity, as now Honobono can’t use his own name against him. Hifumi has spent years recovering from her, and seeing small hints of how he’s trying to move on from that time is a legitimately good way to understand the recovery from trauma.
WHAT IS IT?
The HPMI fandom seemed to have an ‘obsession’ with what exactly traumatised Hifumi up until this point. Most believed that it would have been sexual abuse/rape, given that he fears the opposite gender, and it wouldn’t have been the first time sexual themes have appeared in HPMI (the trafficked women at the start of BB/MTC’s manga). However, to think that ‘there is only one sort of trauma that can cause Hifumi’s pain’ is a dangerous idea. Almost anything can be traumatising, and almost anything can be a trigger.
There’s no need to theorise ‘what is good enough’ to be a trauma for him. To fear women, it can simply be that a woman has done something bad to him - which we see is Honobono. When we hear women fearing men because a man did something bad to them, we don’t theorise what exactly happened to her. There’s the automatic assumption that gendered fear is the result of sexual abuse, when in reality, it can be any manner of abuse that has caused this.
OPINIONS
Tumblr media
So I don’t think KR is portraying Hifumi’s trauma as humorous. It’s definitely awkward, but the narrative has constantly made it clear that he’s in a state of discomfort that stems from trauma and Doppo and Jakurai always do their best to move him out of those situations without drawing too much attention. Nobody in the story laughs at him, save for Asunaro, who’s an ill-mannered child without sensitivity towards both Doppo and Hifumi, and Honobono, the source of his trauma. Those who don’t understand Hifumi in the adult cast however only find confusion in him.
There’s no ‘best’ portrayal of trauma in any media. But it’s clear that HPMI isn’t trying to be malicious or poke fun at any sort of trauma at all. If anything, I think the portrayal of it so far has been relatively ‘easy’ on common audiences that don’t explore such media, helping people to realise how trauma can manifest without forcing others who do have trauma to realise their pained experience in this media. Hifumi has been painted as someone relatable to those with trauma because he’s still a man who’s capable of doing his best while still stumbling along his way to recovery. Traumatised shouldn’t be the descriptor of Hifumi, but he is a character that has been traumatised.
While Honobono and her abuse is an integral part of Hifumi’s backstory, she does not define him as a person. To portray Hifumi as a strong character, despite moments of trauma responses, was a suitable choice in treating him respectably.
