The thing is, there is specific protocol to prevent exactly what happened. Walker and Windy have had lightning delays repeatedly and they explained the process. The producers were super vigilant on Windy due to monsoon season.
It’s very telling that set safety was so lax that there was worry by camera operators about detecting lightning strikes after filming started.
People do get hurt filming. Oftentimes it’s an unpreventable accident.
This was preventable. They sidestepped safety to get the scene.
I hope the poor guy recovers well.
Walker set is highly professional. The same cannot be said for TW.
I too hope he recovers, the thing is, even if he does recover, his brain will still experience changes over the years due to being hit by lightning that can lead to very serious health issues down the line. He is in for a lifetime battle which is why I strongly hope they will retribute him accordingly.
I have to take this moment and acknowledge the contrast between Jared and Jensen. Jensen posed as an involved producer and later proved he is clueless and negligent. He merely had a vanity title but tried to appear as more. Jared never tried to seem as anyone or anything other than what he is and he never engaged in marketing gimmicks or ever tried to take credit for other people's work. What I am trying to say is that Jared may be a quiet leader but he is an effective one who has earned his success. I deeply admire the humanity with which he approaches everything he does especially in an industry where people are capable of heartlessly putting lives at risk over money. I hope Jared's career will continue to grow to the point of him becoming an industry leader because people like him are needed. Keep inspiring, Jared. 🧡
I’m pretty sure Jared didn’t get paid for those virtual panels during JIB, and he just did them because he loves his fans. It’s so wonderful to Stan a person that loves us back and cares more than just what we do for their bank account.
I love it when celebrities go out of their way to support the fans. There are a number of them that will do that, like Jared, and others who aren't as in-tune to the importance of fans for their career.
Inf act, Kat did something similar when the convention she was supposed to attend was canceled at the last minute. She put together an IG live, while some of her Shadowhunters costars, Matthew Daddario, Alan Van Sprang, Anna Hopkins, and Luke Bains met up with fans in New York all without being paid (x).
I find that celebrities who are good to their fans (and all-around good people) can inspire generosity and love within their fandom, making it an even better experience for everyone involved!
I love you, Sam Winchester, I loved you when you wanted to become a lawyer, I loved you when you stood up for yourself infront of your father, I loved you when you agreed to help find him just to make your older brother happy, I loved you when you risked everything to save the world, I loved you when you were soulless, I loved you when you thought you lost your kid and did everything in your power to bring him back, I loved you when you got a dog, I loved you when were covered in glitter, i loved you when you lost your shoe, I loved you when you were the devil and I loved you when you were an angel. I love and love and love you and nothing will ever EVER change that
i was watching 6x22 the other day and something really struck me about jared's acting. when sam first wakes up in the world in his head, he's all innocent bambi on too-long legs with puppy-dog eyes.
soulless!sam is, of course, a semi-emotionless sociopath (kinda), drawing a stark contrast with the other sam piece.
but once sam kills soulless!sam, he acts differently. still sweet and empathetic, but more stoic and hardened.
it's as though soulless!sam's traits have been subsumed into him and blended. it really gives the sense that they're individual pieces of sam, and that the sam before 6x22 wasn't sam in his entirety, either. maybe this was obvious to everyone else but i only just noticed, and ugh, it was just so good!!
Jensen & Jared's love and loyalty and protection for each other is just heart warming. Thinking about their enduring relationship brightens my days!
Melbourne 2015 (Jared cancelled due to exhaustion) - Jensen was probably exceedingly worried and looked exhausted. His protectiveness and admiration of Jared comes through so strongly 🥹❤️
Vancon 22 (Jared had to cancel due to Covid) - Jensen was 'heartbroken' to attend an unofficial wrap party in Vancouver without Jared. He missed Jared so much that he turned his chair backwards, Jared's style, in 'honour of his boy' 😭💗
I know I am like old hollywood classic romantic probably to the point of making people nauseous but that picture of Jared kissing a Gen poster just delights me to my core. 🥰🥰🥰
I love, love, love people who genuinely love each other. 💕
Also, I may or may not have a new life goal to have someone do that with my picture someday. 🤣 I get plenty of compliments but nothing is as beautiful as someone authentically being loving. I rarely feel truly seen though I get more attention than I ever sign up for. It's easier for people to idealize or objectify, it seems. Most people exaggerate me by putting me on a ridiculous pedestal or view me superficially. So that sometimes makes me wonder what I am missing, why I can't be loved. I guess, at the end of the day, we all share the need to be loved and appreciated for who we are (dark and light side) rather than "loved" as an image.
Sam's "puppy dog eyes" are just him, hurt or ashamed - vulnerable?
We all know (&love) sammy's "puppy dog eyes" - & thanks to dean, we've been told of its amazing powers of persuasion and influence on people... I mean look at the evidence:
How could you possibly say no to this face?... I certainly couldn't ...but maybe that's the point - hear me out..
In "Scarecrow", Dean waxes lyrical about how his brother could give you this "look" and people would just "buy into" whatever it was he was saying at the time...
Elsewhere too, it's remarked upon, by Dean, about how no one can resist the power of the "puppy dog eyes" - thing that strikes me though is the language used - its almost framed like its a "manipulative tactic", something that Sam deliberately uses to his advantage somehow and is a weapon in his personal arsenal to disarm and influence people....ie "mere mortals" - the language is almost ominous and sinister...from dean.
Similarly when he talks about how sam is the one more easily able to coax whoever they're interviewing on cases to trust them, persuade them gently with his demeanour to divulge information that they'd perhaps otherwise not have shared...again framed almost like a "secret power" of Sam's....by Dean.
But then, watch the actual show and the actual times those 'puppy dog eyes' are shown by sam - he'd usually hurt or bewildered or ashamed and guilty and scared - yes, even soulless sam coz y'know he was still an actual person... if it IS a tactic it usually seems to be to try and get other person to stop hurting him or to show that he's hurting (the point of facial expressions) in hope the said person will stop - which BTW, note how he blanks in later seasons instead and stops showing his vulnerability any more?...
and whenever he's been able to convince people to share information and to trust them - it's been because he employed EMPATHY n understanding and cared about the situations these "normal" people found themselves in...ie he simply treated these folks as normal human beings caught in a bad situation and showed them some consideration, thoughtfulness amd kindness.....and that's all.
Contrast to whenever dean has been on his own (or when soulless with him instead) - he has a hard edge to him and gives off some pretty angst n downright scary vibes- not too mention, he's usually pretty suspicious or scoffing at the "civvies" in his demeanour - prolonged contact with sam has taught him to moderate himself/his approach but it's not his "natural" state with folks...
And that brings me to the point I'm trying to make on this post...
What if dean, struggling with his own "complex feelings" and being unable to ever deny sam anything coz of his own love n conditioning reads Sam's wounded look as a manipulation- a way to explain away his own "weakness" ( coz remember in john & dean's world vulnerability & love is a weakness is not what a "man" does) - ie "sammy made me do it with his bewitching eyes" instead of "I love my brother so much I can't deny him anything" is more palatable to dean.... and also, because his feelings frightened him and he's scared of the (perceived) hold sam has on him - he thinks sam MUST know of his effect on dean and MUST be using it on purpose....because conflict/threat&it's defusal & disarmament of said threat or weaponising their tools/themselves, is what they do.
And then, to further justify it to himself, he points to the interviews with civilians and how sam is able to persuade them too - so it's not just him, samm DOES have these "powers of persuasion"-bordering on ahem, the supernatural...but it's just sam being a decent human to these folks...
Just like everything else Sam's been blamed for or, something ominous being made of something he does or is - maybe those "famous" puppy-dog eyes of his are just sam looking actually, genuinely hurt, wounded, betrayed? - but it's so much easier to deflect and dismiss as a manipulative tactic so that no reparations or even acknowledgements need to be made and so no accountability required to be taken - which is after all, "dean special power"?....
it strikes me everytime, how much of our views of sam are molded and informed by dean's POV in the narrative of supernatural....
I'm beginning to wonder if we've ever actually seen sam as he was in the story at all - from an objective standpoint, let alone his own POV (which I'm sure would be far darker of himself and also inaccurate?)...
