Sorry I'm crying so hard over how much manga version Yamanoue loves Mars.
(Not saying anime Yamanoue doesn't, the manga version is just a lot less subtle. I mean every other panel he's complementing the boy! Can't blame him cause it's Jetter Mars)

If I had a nickel for everytime I became unhealthily hyperfixatated on a extremely influential Japanese children's writer and anime producer, relatively unknown outside Japan except for that one work (featuring a mascot popular enough to called the "Japanese Mickey Mouse"), but incredibly prolific and beloved in their own country. Who seemed to have nothing but cute characters with wholesome plots, but in reality their works were dark and mature due to war trauma. Well I'd only have two nickels but it's weird it happened twice.

Chapter 115 (boot_115) of the Atom: The Beginning manga is now available to read from January 26, 2024 to February 23, 2024!
Featured on the cover art for boot_115 is Tobio Tenma with headphones that read "jetter" on them, which is a reference to Jetter Mars. Tobio's cowlick and the headphone design make it look similar to Atom's hair spikes.

Unpopular Opinion about: Jetter Mars
Honestly when I saw this I squealed because I didn't expect anyone to send one in for this niche series, and then I felt immediate dread because I do in fact have an unpopular opinion and it's one that the incredibly small fandom likely will not want to hear, at all, ever.
My unpopular opinion is... that Dr. Yamanoue was abusive and Mars being removed from his care (due to his 'death') was the best thing for Mars and his development.
Even though through raising Mars he began to soften around him and did love him at 'the end' he still did multiple things that raise a lot of red flags including; intentionally building him as a weapon for warfare in the first place, isolating him from social interaction, grabbing his manga and shredding it, teaching him toxic masculinity including 'boys don't cry', ERASING parts of Mars's memory instead of dealing with the trauma associated with the dog incident (which is a complete lack of bodily autonomy for Mars and if he did it once who knows how many other times he would have or did), screaming, yelling, insults him etc etc etc.
Yes, he's a walking beanpole of chaos and it's funny to see him dodge death, yes we're not supposed to take this as seriously because this is a child's show from the sprocking 70s with no English adaptation, yes this is typical of anime story-telling etc etc but I feel like the fandom sort of sweeps some of this aside.
However, I feel like if Yamanoue hadn't 'died' we would have seen marked improvement in how he approaches Mars and we could have seen a kick ass story arc. Maybe one where Yamanoue starts to change his mind about what Mars is supposed to be and takes him and just LEAVES the Ministry of Science and has to flee the government because Mars was a robot built to be a weapon. It would have been cool to see maybe both of them on the run and Yamanoue desperately trying to keep Mars from blowing their cover but it happens every other week.
This is just sort of my rambling thoughts for a fandom consisting of maybe 32 people.
Another unpopular opinion is baby robots freak me the fuck out and I never want to see them ever.
Send me a 🔥for an unpopular opinion

I'm back (ish) + updates
As I said months ago I'll be back by fall, and it looks like my guesstimate was correct! Just a smallish update.
TLDR; Working on Mega/Gigamix (At least one chapter a month) added a link to a fan translation of a doujinshi and added Slime Mori Mori to my TBA list and various minor stuff.
Kinda drifted away from the AB/Tezuka fandom a bit these past few months due to getting into the Kirby Fandom, but I'll never forget my roots.
Due to Team Phoenix getting an official English release, I decided to drop it from my project list. The Marine Express Manga by Ikehara Shigeto (Artist of Mega Man Megamix/Gigamix/Mastermix manga and the Jetter Mars manga) is still on the list to do. As far as Doujinshi goes, I haven't really seen anything that caught my interest.
Shoutout to @meion for translating Prophetic Dream(s)! I added a link to their site on my project list which is in my pinned post!
Speaking of Ikehara Shigeto and Mega Man, I finally started on Gigamix's first chapter. Sense the first chapter is a sequel to a story in Megamix, I decided that was a good way to get back into things. I'll start on Megamix soon, my goal is to do at least one chapter a month. The chapters are insanely long and I use my phone to scan and crop them properly so this sounds like a good goal to reach. No, I did not accidentally scan Gigamix first before the Megamix Vol.2 and realized it while uploading them hahahah.
I recently got into the Kirby fandom (The games, Anime, and the Kirby Manga Mania) these few months so I'll try to get some Doujinshi eventually, but it seems the ones I like are not in stock right now. Kirby Manga Mania is already in English so why bother. I'm not sure if the Japanese scans are available anywhere so maybe I'll work on that?
And lastly, another fandom I semi-gotten into while getting into the Kirby anime fandom is Rocket Slime or Slime Morimori, a spin-off of the Dragon Quest game series I haven't played any of those games nor the Slime Morimori trilogy. (I suck at Mega Man games but that didn't stop me from watching the 90's cartoon via annotations or reading/scanning the mangas) But as you know, I'm a sucker for niche stuff like this so when I found out there was a three-volume manga I decided to add that to my project list as well.
So recap:
Dropped
Team Phoenix (Offical English translation coming soon)
Recent upload(s)
Gigamix Vol.1, Ch.1
Ongoing Soon
Megamix Vol.2, Ch.1
TBA
Other AB/Atom the beginning doujinshi
Marine Express manga
Kirby Doujinshi
Japanese scans of Kirby Manga Mania?
Slime Mori Mori manga
Some other comics/manga I have around
Various
Upload older PC games (Ok so not scanning but still thought I'll share this here as a reminder for myself)
As always, thank you for the support! If you find my post via tags then welcome! Feel free to toss any spare change my way on my Ko-Fi that's available in my pinned post I've been thinking about switching to Buy me a coffee as Paypal fees are super high, but I'll use this for now. along with my master list of projects with links to all of my work done so far. My Twitter and Discord are also available if you need to contact me.
(Usually, I pin people but honestly, A good chunk of my followers are on discord/twitter so I'll just drop the link in there instead. Ask if you want me to tag you next major update)

HEY ITS ME although I am obviously super invested in Astro Boy I still want to ask questions out of evil intent. So I wanna know !! What are your favourite versions of Bem and Atlas ?? Which adaptation do you think handled their characters best / most interestingly ?
>:3c
hmm... the only versions of Bem i can think of are the 60s one and the 2001 one (though i do see a bit of em in tima metropolis) and i actually haven't seen the 2001 movie hehe ,, so i don't think i can pass judgement here BUT. 60s bem is perhaps my favorite astro boy character Period, and the 2001 version would have a hard (but not impossible) time beating the original with regards to their weird alien magic, their apathy in response to catastrophe, their grace in self-sacrifice, whatever the FUCK they were doing with gender, and their relationship to atom. ough. i want to find a method to save them at the last minute and then adopt them and let them enjoy human hobbies forever. here have this bem i doodled last night
Tumblr media
[ID: a cartoony red pencil doodle of Bem from Astro Boy. Their humanoid part (a robot which looks like a preteen human, with hair shaped like bird wings) is floating casually above their non-humanoid part (a box like a minifridge), wearing a chef's outfit and giving a peace sign. End ID.]
now what would you do if i said 50s atlas. huh ?
Tumblr media
[ID: a picture from a black and white manga panel. It shows a robot who looks like a teenage boy. He's not wearing clothes, and the tube of his torso extends down past his pelvis and works as a rocket propeller, giving him the look of a torpedo with limbs. His solid, black "hair" has several tubes jutting up from it. End ID.]
actually in the process of getting that screenshot i reread The Entire Atlas Story. not as silly as i remember! he serves as sort of an introduction to the capability of robots to do evil on purpose. he's capable of evil thought because of the Omega Factor (not to be confused with the Omega Radar, which atom and cobalt use to find each other), which his creator also wants to put in atom, so that they can help him get revenge on colonial/imperialist society (one of tezuka's semi-successful attempts at commenting on systemic racism). its implied that atlas is capable of good, too, he just hasn't been introduced to it. he gets fucking disintegrated btw.
that serves as a very good intro ramp before the Blue Knight Saga and its approaches to good amd evil, and tezuka's preferred order puts it shortly before, likely for that reason. I'm not sure how to feel about the idea that atom isn't capable of evil, and what that might say abt how "advanced" he is- i like to think he's capable of evil, and actively chooses to be good, but whatever. also im just gonna say it this design is ugly as fuck lol
80s was fun. kinda fused atlas and blue knight into the same character? ive never gotten the chance to see the anime episode with small atlas, so i only know his lore from the 80s comics, which i bet is different and siller. he's like atom, except he needed a special 8th power, and his creator decided that would be pissing on things to blow them up? "Like a cicada"? ok . he drank ink once. i love him. hes like jetter mars to me. anyway. as an adult in the anime he did surprisingly well as a long-term antagonist for astro. it's hard to take that damn show stylishly, but i did cry in the finale when atlas declared himself atoms brother. i liked the idea that they were going for, where the two have a lot in common both physically and mentally, and this omega radar ties them to each other unendingly, but atlas will always have a grudge against humans and atom will always love them? that's great. but i feel like they didn't explore it much, and a lot of it was just Come Fight Me I Fucking Dare You (maybe also to mix in Pluto with atlas and bk? saving on voice actors lmao). and i don't even know what was going on with Livian. shrug. congrats to atlas for having a third boob added though!
now 2003. OUGH 2003 did so nicely as an addition of previous atlases. they kind of departed a little bit from previous versions by having him be, for instance, a creation of tenma, but i don't dislike how they used that change. the way they took the "im just like you" thread that they started on with 80s and amped it up by making atlas not only the second robot ever to be made with the same heart/adaptability as atom, but also to be ANOTHER desperate failed father's attempt at fixing his mistakes, resulting in a new person coming out of the ghost of his neglected son?? he's not just atom's foil to the viewer, he's atom's foil to tenma. he leads up perfectly as the step before Pluto (before Shadow) and before Blue Knight in introducing robots capable of evil to society, in introducing robots who don't want to be nice to atom, and in developing tenma's obsession with evolving atom to greater lengths. here's a vengeful robot with the memories of a vengeful son. here's a robot too powerful for atom to fight without, somehow, growing. here's a victim of the growing anti-AI tide. here's someone who's just like you, here to warn you that something bigger is coming.
also he looks cool as hell. shoutout to 03 atlas

Various sketches (there is a lot)!
(that also have varied quality because some of these are old, and I forget to ever post 👀;)
Tumblr media
Tobio from a week ago, since I had an urge to draw him! what is he sick of? who knows
Tumblr media
this is just jetter mars
Tumblr media
Atom II sketch from some time back; his tactlessness and complete lack of compassion is pretty interesting to characterize.
Tumblr media
This is from an Aggie.io session! One of my friends drew the Soundwave-themed accessories and color palette on Cobalt! ( + my drawing of Reg from Made in Abyss! He is also a cool robo lad)
Tumblr media
Tobio again, but he is older and still upset (and also from an Aggie.io canvas)
Tumblr media
More Aggie.io canvas Cobalts!
Tumblr media
Lastly, Blue or A108 from Atom: the Beginning! It was fun drawing him. Unfortunately, I’m not exactly caught up with the manga, since I cannot read or access several chapters (only have a general gist of the story so far), but I can at least keep up with the new chapter releases!

fun fact: rockman manga and the jetter mars manga has the same author
Oh cool!
Tumblr media
I remember I used to play the original MegaMan/RockMan games but they were kinda hard. Still fun! Also loved the CGI show. The music was so good, Protoman is also really cool...
And if these are the same author then I know it good LOL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I should get back into MegaMan. Especially since I already really like PulseMan which was inspired by that...

Hi, Hey there!
I've had this blog up for a few weeks so I figured I'd introduce myself. Not gonna reveal my actual name for security reasons but just call me Kosmic.
I currently live in the USA (Unfortunately). I'm genderfluid and really don't care what pronouns I am referred to with as long as they're not it/it's. I'm also an aspiring writer but for now I mostly just write fanfiction. Mostly Saint Seiya related obviously though I've been working on other stuff.
You can find my AO3 account here:
I've also been working on art but I'm still a beginner.
I try to be a nice person. (Though I'm not sure if I'm good at it because I can't stop swearing.) I don't accept racism, ableism, bullying, kin exclusionists or gatekeeping, misogyny, homophobia or anything anti-lgbt...
Yeah, Just don't be a dick. It's not hard.
Also don't be a sicko, no pedophila or zoophilia.
Some other stuff about me in case you care:
I'm a minor, don't be a creep.
I have ADHD, tend to hyperfixate on weird stuff. Then again a lot of people on this website do. Just saying I'm not one to judge people when I think about my interests.
I'm agnostic but I'm not going to crap on anyone for having a religion, as long as you're not a Jehovah's Witness. Screw those abusive idiots.
My hobbies are reading, writing, drawing, playing retro games, creating OCs, watching documentaries, and staying up at three AM regretting all of my life's choices
My favorite shows are: Saint Seiya (1986), Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, Ronin Warriors, Ranma 1/2, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Astro Boy, Jetter Mars, Sonic Prime, Sonic X, Beastars, Thundercats (both 1986 and 2011), Futurama, Kimba the White Lion, Cowboy Bebop, To Kai Watch, Captain Scarlet, Black Jack, Samurai Jack, Ampanman, The Amazing World of Gumball, Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, Danger Mouse, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai (AKA Power Rangers)
My favorite movies: the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, AKIRA, the Barbie movie (don't judge), Godzilla, Plague Dogs, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Saint Seiya: Legend of the Crimson Youth, Chirin's Bell, The amazing Spider-Man, Toy Story 3, The Iron Giant, Into the Spiderverse, also as of now gotta add the FNAF movie
Favorite video games: Sonic the Hedgehog series, Phantasy Star 4, Columns, Panel De Pon, Mega Man, PulseMan, Mario Kart 8, Pokemon: Legends Arceus, Animal Crossing, Earthbound, Poyo Poyo/Mean Bean Machine, Sin and Punishment, Harvest Moon, Star Fox
Favorite Bands/Musical Artists: Jack Stauber, Daft Punk, Lemon Demon, Caravan Palace, Tally Hall, Miura Ayme, Rammstein, The Living Tombstone, Rare Americans, Nirvana, Rammstein, Witchfinder General, Gorillaz
Favorite books: The Golden Compass, The Most Dangerous Game, Magnus Chase, Heros of Olympus (or basically anything by Rick Riordan), Death Note, Beastars (manga), Inuyasha, The Lovely Bones (I fucking cried so hard), MAUS (Made me cry harder), City of Ember, Journey to the West, Most classic creepypastas mainly "Abandoned by Disney" (YES. I know they're not books), Cells at Work, AKIRA (Manga)
So... Um... Yeah.
I like to talk with people about my interests so don't be afraid to give me a message. (As long as it doesn't promise "hot singles" in my area, I'm not that stupid.)
Updates:
I have a discord under the name robotic carnival and a side blog Tezuka Brainrot.
I am fictokin of: Cobalt from Astro Boy mainly.
Partially:
Mars from Jetter Mars.
Jibanyan from Yo Kai Watch
Rika from Phantasy Star.
Akane Tendo and Ryoga Hibbikki from Ranma 1/2
Cygnus Hyoga, Pegasus Seiya, and Aquarius Camus from Saint Seiya.
And the flag on my profile picture is ADHD flag.
Cringe and proud. ♥️
My husbandos are Doctor Yamanoue and Doctor Kawashimo from Jetter Mars, Phoenix Ikki from Saint Seiya, James/Kojiro from Pokemon, and Rune from Phantasy Star.
I can't beat Zio PLZ someone tell me how.
I am pro Palestine and I will accept no support of genocide.
I am neutral on the Joe Hawley situation as he has done terrible things yet does not deserve to be hacked or harassed.
Also ship discourse and fanfiction censorship discourse is dumb I don't care anymore. And regret my past actions. Don't harass over stuff you don't like but also tag your shit. You can't complain about people judging you if you are irresponsible about keeping it where it belongs.

Source: Osamu Tezuka official website
The Tezuka Star System character, Mitchy. She appears in various Tezuka manga from 1947 through 1961, starting with the manga “Dr. Mars” (unrelated to Jetter Mars). She most recently appeared as a character in the 2014 Astro Boy series, Little Astro Boy, seen in the second image on the right.
A not-so-well known fact about Mitchy: she served as the prototype for Atom in Astro Boy as well as Princess Sapphire in the Princess Knight manga.
From the Osamu Tezuka official website:
Mitchy was a pretty young heroine from the early days. She was the first female idol of Tezuka Osamu's Manga but was not merely a cute, doll-like figure. She appeared, for example, as the androgynous robot that can soar through the skies in "Metropolis", and as such became the prototype for the latter-day major star, Atom. Mitchy herself portrayed Atom's mother in the "Astro Boy" series. She was a character who could act the part of a robot and who could also turn in impressive performances in supporting roles as the mother of the protagonist; she can thus be said to have embodied the spirit of an actress in no small part. Moreover, she was not only the prototype for Atom she was also the model for Sapphire, the star of "Princess Knight". In other words, it would be no exaggeration to say that without Mitchy, the world of Tezuka Osamu would not be the lavish place it is today.
