ok, i finished “i was born for this” by alice oseman yesterday.

which, btw, means i have read all of her books now (devastating bc i want them to never end).

and i shall review! except i’m not very good at reviewing.

ok, so first of all, the representation - amazing. as per usual. i loved the representation and i loved how she incorporated Angel being muslim (and possibly ace?), as well as LGBT+ representation in a way that isn’t making it their only personality trait!

The characters are well rounded and realistic and relatable. the story is amazing and engaging, i love the references to/from other books, i love the dynamics and relationships between Jimmy and Rowan and Lister.

Overall, I loved it! Highly recommend! Alice Oseman can never write a bad book I swear!

the beatles again! i feel like i don't need to explain the relevancy here. dorothy does the job pretty well.

all the things she said by t.a.T.u - a song about being shamed into secrecy, specifically in a queer context, and wanting to be true to yourself despite what people might say. in particular, i want to draw attention to this lyric: "wanna fly to a place where it's just you and me/nobody else, so we can be free"

also, i just find it so funny and endearing the way jimmy acts after he leaves through the window. he's off the fucking rails. one of my favourite jimmy moments is when he sees fereshteh's username (jimmysangels) and thinks "that doesn't even make any sense". another fave moment is when he knocks super loudly on piero's door, scares the life out of fereshteh, and only explains why he did that after he's already done it. he's such a fucking intense guy and i love him
