Photo/design- Virtual Sketchbook 2
The color photograph is by Johan Hakansson Photography and it is titled " Blue Ridge Parkway Scenic Appalachian Autumn NC". The second, black and white photograph, is taken at the Buckingham Palace in London by Markus Landsman. I believe in the second photograph, the photographer chose black and white to show detail, shape, texture, and the structure overall. Your eye draws right into the statue and without color, you are able to see the detail and contrast. In the first photograph, the motivation to make it color would be to show all the different colors of autumn and how beautiful all of the colors mixed together in the trees. I believe in both of these photographs, the choice of color was effective. With black and white, you are able to see fine detail and focus. With color, you are able to absorb the bright colors when looking at it and almost feel the photograph.

Sanctum
flickr
Sanctum by Johan Hakansson Photography Via Flickr: My first photographic excursion to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park earlier this Spring took me to many fascinating spots, one of which was the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. This image was captured while hiking along the Grotto Falls Trail; a tranquil scene I thought, as this cascading waterfall filled a quiet pool of water below. I hope you like this image? Comments and favs are always much appreciated! Have a great day y'all :) Copyright © 2015 | Johan Hakansson Photography | All Rights Reserved.

Dark Fate
flickr
Dark Fate by Johan Hakansson Photography Via Flickr: "There is no fate but what we make for ourselves..." Greetings everyone! I am still exploring and developing my processing techniques to render the vision I have for a certain scene. That has meant a lot of time spent by the computer just working, and not so much outside shooting. But with searing temperatures and crazy humidity, I'm not really complaining too awful much. This week I will be posting a series of images with a darker, moodier undertone as the primary theme. The look of this upcoming series of images, beginning with this one titled "Dark Fate", will speak more from within the mysterious realm of the Southern Appalachians that I experience on the foggy and dreary looking days in these mountains. I hope you will enjoy them, and as always feel free to drop me a line in the comments below to let me know what you think. Thank you for stopping by to look! © 2019 Johan Hakansson Photography, All Rights Reserved.

Revelation
flickr
Revelation by Johan Hakansson Photography Via Flickr: It has been a while since I have posted anything, due to a prolonged cold that hit me on New Year's Eve, from which I am still in recovery. This image was supposed to have been my last for 2015, but it will instead by my first for 2016. I captured this dramatic scene while camping out at Caesars Head State Park at the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina early one morning back in November 2015. The weather turned out dreary, and heavy fog was moving in and out of the valley like ocean tides. When I thought the weather was giving way to some warming sunlight, new layers of heavy clouds would roll in, leaving me in disappointment once more. I used a hand towel to cover up my camera, which was getting wet from all the fog, but the towel was, obviously, only soaking up the dampness and getting more wet as time went by, leaving me wondering how much longer I could remain, for the sake of my equipment. Looking across the valley floor into the distance, I could see nothing but white...but I knew The Rock was out there, somewhere, looking back at me. When my watch timer indicated I had been at this spot for two-and-a-half hours and no sign of breakage in the clouds was evident, I began to consider packing up. And then, almost precisely on cue with my thoughts of perpetual disappointment, there was a Revelation - Mother Nature calmed, the clouds cleared, the sun so eager to shine its warmth upon the Earth, unveiled itself before me. And as its light shone upon The Rock and the final remnants of autumn colors in the valley below, the clouds illuminating with the golden-hour light, a deep sense of gratitude empowered me as I clicked the shutter... I hope you like the result? Your comments are welcomed, your Faves even more appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and view this photograph, and I hope it finds you well and safe. Here's to a excitement-filled and opportunistic 2016!
