Depends on the pet name itself. In general using special names or codes for a person you are close with is alright with me, as long as it's not too stupid and irrational, or uncomfortable. But some 'pet names' just seem extremely uncomfortable and indecent.

continuation of Holmes' bedroom

above Holmes' bed hang these pictures (1). the guide didn't tell us anything specific about those.

opposite of the bed hang portraits of people (2&3). you might think they'd be from family members or friends. this is not the case with our lovely Mr. Holmes'. These portraits picture (serial? can't quite recall) murderers. They hang on Holmes' wall, because he wants to fully understand them, know how their minds work.

funfact about the woman in (4) (the guide just said "that woman over there" - there are two pictures of women tho... i assume she meant the woman that hangs higher... because her photo is bigger but i am not sure): she killed part of her family. but nobody believed a woman could do such a cruelsome act, so she was never arrested... and lived with the other part of her family until she died. (victorian sexism is almost funny ngl)

oh and my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE PART was that SHERLOCK FREAKING HOLMES owns a TURTLE STATUE (5) and it CHILLS THERE IN HIS BEDROOM. (guys it's me. i don't know if you realize but trust me... sherlock holmes has a pet turtle/tortoise and it is me. )

(please forgive me for the people in this picture. i felt kinda rushed and way too excited to take a better picture...)

after the living room and Holmes' bedroom (see part 1), the tour ended. imo this room is the most like a museum. it doesn't feel personal like the living room or the bedrooms (yes Dr. Watson's room will be included in the part 3), instead there were show cases and some decorations... i didn't get a picture of it all but here are my favorites. (focusing on the more personal items in this post)

oh! and if you look at (6) between that person in pink and that person in red, you see a little desk. on this desk was "Mrs. Hudson's guest book" (right underneath the window) and you could write your name in it!!! i loved that little detail! 🥰

there was a hat (7) and spinning wheel (8).

then the fireplace in victorian style with a painting above (9),

i ended up on the tot wiki page for aaron recently and some details there really brought me so much joy and sparked some thoughts on my end

1 ) huh....did luke and aaron become friends because they were both DETECTIVE FANBOYS?????

i find this funny cuz i already knew this, what with how heavily the Sphynx thing is featured in luke's personal stories, but it only now clicked in my head that, occupations aside, this is a common interest they both have. theyre both detective fiction NERDS.

we know luke is into sherlock of course, and he might also be into agatha cristie because of the book hes got on his bed with "AGATHA CHRISTIE" loudly emblazoned over it---

--but it makes me curious as to what specific detective novels and fiction aaron is into. does he also like the sherlock novels? does he have a favorite? did he and luke meet at the NSB because they got into an argument over which sherlock adaptation was best? in the year 2022, luke pearce was 17 years old and already in the midst of his Disappearance/NSB Recruit Boogaloo, and also the mystery movie Glass Onion came out, did luke take a break from the training to watch it together with aaron?

"he's a friend from the NSB" luke says about aaron to mc in the beginning, completely glossing over many details like how aaron's saved his life in the past and how aaron has a vigilante alternate identity and, Most Importantly, how aaron is a fandom buddy.

i cant believe i missed this detail, but it's true, it happens in luke's blossom chapter personal 02-01 (thank u @scientistsinistral for letting me know where!!)

i wonder how i missed it because it is JUST the kind of perfect tiny mundane character detail that i LOVE. aaron the pecan man from pecan town who leaves pecans from pecan town as gifts for others. im immensely endeared by this and think it wld be very funny if this became a running joke between him and luke

i now hc that whenever luke's birthday rolls around, aaron's gift to him is pecans. when luke gets injured on a mission and wakes up in the hospital, the "get well soon!" gift left on his bedside table is pecans. when aaron learns that luke finally confessed to mc and that theyre dating, his congratulations gift to luke is pecans. when luke and mc get married, guess what his wedding gift is to them? pecans.

For explanations + extra headcanons, keep reading (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DGS2):

Barok being 4 inches/9 cm taller makes me think that he has to be the big spoon by default, at least most of the time. That’s also why I thought he was slightly more likely to lend his clothes to Herlock. Also Herlock likes to steal Barok’s cape and pretend to be a vampire.

Herlock canonically calls Barok, “Mr. Reaper” in the games. I don’t know if that counts as a pet name, but it’s the perfect mixture of playful and insulting which I think encapsulates their dynamic pretty well.

One thing some people might not realize is that the original depiction of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle is canonically queer. Yeah, it’s explicitly stated that Sherlock isn’t into women so none of that queerbaiting shit with Johnlock (looking at you Moffat) which is pretty progressive for the late 1800s. Many people speculate Sherlock to be aroace, and since I’m aroace, I like to believe Herlock Sholmes is also on the spectrum.

Obviously, the previous point ties into the horny levels. In my mind, Herlock constantly craves affection, both emotional and physical, but that doesn’t always translate to desiring sexual intimacy. It shifts frequently, much like his moods. Hence, the aceflux orientation. Barok’s horny level is more straightforward, which is the only straight thing about him lmao.

Barok gives off the vibe of a deeply repressed homosexual man with religious trauma, you can’t change my mind. That played a factor into some of my decisions with the sliders, especially his little relationship experience and dislike of PDA.

I think it is canon that Herlock sucks at cooking or at least it’s heavily implied by the fact that his ten year old daughter does all the cooking. But he’s gotta be somewhat better than Barok who was raised in nobility and has likely never touched a stove in his life.

Barok isn’t scared of bugs (he’s been through much scarier things) but he also doesn’t like squashing them because it gets his expensive shoes dirty. Herlock screams about bugs not because he’s scared of them, but because he gets excited and wants to use them for his inventions.

I think some people might assume Barok is more overprotective since that’s what his character archetype typically falls under, but I’d argue that Herlock is far more overprotective, even to a fault. I mean, he kept so many secrets for ten whole years just to protect his daughter from the pain of knowing her biological father was a mass murderer. Also, he went all the way to Asia to prevent Kazuma from getting assassinated even though he’d never met the man. I rest my case.

The awkwardness level could be changed honestly. While Barok is an introvert, he’s also a highly skilled prosecutor so he is good at public speaking. On the other hand, he is probably terrible at socializing beyond polite conversations with coworkers since he likely doesn’t have friends other than Albert. Meanwhile, Herlock does and says a lot of awkward things, but he isn’t embarrassed about it in the slightest.
