I just had a whole actual married, mother of two adult woman be the first person older than about 21 to actually accept the fact that I don't want to get married and be willing to talk through what that means for me, instead of trying to convince me that I'll change my mind as I get older. season 9 has been amazing but i’m kinda excited to be around for the beginning of a hermitcraft season, they were well into the empires crossover arc when i started watching double life (which was pretty much my introduction to mcyt in general) so this is gonna be my first time actually being around for the early game

#man i REALLY fell into this whole thing ass backwards #it literally all started bc of scar #my sister knew about him and i was like ok so i’ve just seen this man play minecraft #and it was somehow the most stressful thing i’ve experienced in my life #and she was like ‘would you like to see someone desperately try to keep him alive for approximately 6 episodes’#i watched all the life series (at the time) in reverse order and then moved on to hc 8 #which i feel is worth mentioning bc this watching order caused me to have what seems to be a pretty unique series of realizations #it was like oh wow scar really is that stressful to keep alive -> oh shit there’s prequels to double life?? ->#oh shit the double life (and prequels) players are in OTHER minecraft series??? -> holy shit the double life guys can BUILD???? ->#(discovers the swagon was a ‘starter base’) HOLY SHIT the double life guys can BUILD -> MOON BIG??????? ->#NORMAL HERMITCRAFT SEASONS ARE *HOW* MANY EPISODES????????????#-> */CROSSOVER EVENT??????????????/*#and that’s just the major story beats that shit was a JOURNEY #mumbling #there were some other notable shocks along the way #like the discovery that the popular fan interpretations of the life series involved any angst whatsoever threw me for a LOOP #bc they're all so clearly being silly goofy with their buddies #to be clear i'm so on board with taking it all extremely seriously for the sake of Lore #it's all very fun #but going in i was not expecting it at ALL

It’s a very fun comic! The marriage seeker mystery can finally be put to rest 😌 I don’t really think it changes much, that it overrides anything we knew or that I theorized, esp since we already knew about the party-wide romance ban, but the meme potential (and fic potential) IS so strong now that we know Laios was the one most targeted and distrusted of all… And trust was the biggest issue, romance brings nothing but trouble in their minds but the trouble they experienced with the marriage seeker was because she was disingenuous and manipulative and Laios was oblivious, and as time went on the party realized that Marcille was trustworthy and they stopped worrying about that particular scenario happening. It can def bring a new meaning to the "This is my succubus?!! No one can see it no one can know AAAAA" line though lmfaoo. It’s so funny and honestly such a win for aroace Laios

Ok you know what's kinda funny about "Jackson's Diary", or rather "plot twist-y"?

So, ok, imma be honest, when I started the comic I thought it was bl or lgbt or something. Be it the art or the description or the fact that everything I read is gay, I thought this was some kind of enemies to lovers/as magic stuff is going on around the school or something

I really thought the 2 mains were gonna end up together

And I wasn't the only one who thought that cause a lot of the comments were talking about it

But no. Soon you realize they're all very straight, exer is still in love with his ex girlfriend and Jackson kinda gets in a love triangle with exer's ex and the girl exer bullied last year. Also it's set in like- the 80s? Soo. They probably don't know what gay is. (Or they ignore it yknow)

But....

"Wasn't David bi in the canvas version?" said the comments "Yeah he was I think he liked Exer"

So then I'm trying to figure out if he's bi, and some chapters later he's literally making heart eyes around exer but like, in the background

And he's not that important at the time so I'm like oh ok great he's the comedic relief stereotypical gay character?

And exer is like... straight and in love with David's twin sister so nothing will happen right?

Like 100 chapters later and this is Exer's reaction to David saying they're friends

Also ok, I know my post is focused around the gay romance here, but like the comic is really interesting I do recommend it

Jackson goes to a new school and he is the only one who can see some kind of "green magic" messing around with his daily life

Shit happens, he makes friends, he gets into love triangles as I mentioned before (not for that long, thankfully) he gets into fights and makes new friends again

The characters are all very interesting, I was gonna say nice, but then realized half of them are assholes, currently it seems like they're trying to be better people tho

And even though it's set in the 80s it seems most of the main characters were accepting of the lgbt ones (well ok so far 2 people know about it so yknow, ) the only assholes were some bullies literally called Rick and Marty who used gay as a slur or something like 50 chapters ago

Well, and I can't really say anything much without spoiling more, I've already talked enough about their sexualities I'm not telling you what's happening with the green stuff

#some background checks on the characters #Jackson just moved back here and lives with his foster family his tía and tío(aunt&uncle) along with Ronald some Russian guy who also lives #with them but i dont remember where he came from? like?is that some kind of Erasmus? foster? idk i forgot. BUT WHEN #HE DOES. that little κατινα knows too much. anyways. then we've got exer who lives with his dad and hes the popular guy at school #his best friend david who lives with dad and then there's David's twin- Brenda who lives with their mom #and Pamela who used to be friends with brenda but shit happened #in most recent chapters we met new characters like Timothy Ken and Lola? help i forgot her name #wait was his name ken or kev #whatever the other guy is named Timothy i know that #those 3 became close friends at detention. they've been there since like- last year #they did shit. wasn't their fault. i mean ok yeah it was- but it was an accident you know? they're good kids #oh there's also a cat named Lucy-fuurrr #and i need to go to sleep #jackson's diary #webtoon #comic #sugarenia talks #sugarenia thoughts

i think that vriska homestuck and vriska pesterquest are two distinct versions of vriska and i think that a lot of people are thinking more about PQ vriska than HS vriska when they discourse about her because they remember PQ more clearly than HS and so they don’t remember like… the true, canon vriska from the comic, they mostly just remember a version of vriska that was one person’s exercise in projecting onto a character to write about her experiences, but was actually not all that in character when you compare it to HS vriska. so the discourse goes nowhere because we are now talking about two completely different characters.

#this is basically me saying i need to stop caring so much #i see people be so heinously wrong abt vriska yet talking with so much authority on the matter and i’m like #what is going on.#but then i realize they’re talking about PQ vriska #and yknow what. they’re right about pq vriska. but pq vriska is wrong about hs vriska #so like i need to just go ‘oh u mean pq vriska. not real vriska. ok moving on’ instead of getting mad that they don’t understand her #when i first played PQ i remember loving vriska a route and thinking it was in character #but then i read hs and then played pq basically back to back #and it was like. oh this is not my vriska. this is someone else #and its not like i haven’t done the same thing: written a character (vriska in fact) to just be a projection of myself #to express my feelings #but i’m not writing official stuff i’m writing fanfic for fun #like honestly almost none of the PQ routes feel in character to me off the back of reading HS proper #which isn’t a crime i still have fun playing PQ it is fun!#it is not so heinously out of character to be unenjoyable #it is just… not really accurate to canon #and shouldn’t be held up as the truth of the characters

#keese draws #rain world #rain world survivor #rain world monk #just impulsive slug cat practice mostly but I also have been wanting to draw them #I wanna try my hand at making fun designs for some of the others so I needed to get my baseline first #I wanna go for more rodent vibes than cat but not too much so #I also wanna draw some of my other slugcat biology hcs but no promises I’ve been going thru it lately #oh yeah and I do imagine most slugcats as completely hairless so no fluffy arti sorry y’all #she does get the closest to having actual teeth of all of them tho so that’s a win for her #well ok all slugcats kind of have teeth but they’re more like small spines that line the front of their mouths #they don’t chew on food tho the teeth are for tearing bits of food off of things #carnivorous slugcats have bigger spines that more so resemble teeth but only in the sense that they’re much larger and easier to see #they also very much hurt more although usefulness in combat is often limited #as getting a good enough grip on a moving target ain’t easy #in fact these big ol teeth are more meant to be used for trapping prey while they like beat them to death or smth #but with larger prey becoming most carnivorous scugs main food source they don’t get used that way as often anymore #in my minds eye way way back slugcats used to be egg predators but as more and more dangerous predators started being common they adapted #a much more omnivorous diet with most of their protein coming from bugs #and hey now they eat bug eggs full circle Babey

Wait hold on, in his anniversary video Barbatos mentions the mc being the brother's attendant?

But in the other videos, it's implied that they don't remember the mc leaving (which is actually something im very disappointed about and really hope isnt the case in the actual story)

In these two specifically, it seems like they aren't aware of the mc's presence in the past/alternate timeline/whatever it is. The only other person who seems like they know is Lucifer

Which also lines up with the end of lesson 40, where he's the only one who says welcome back? So like?? Do only him and Barbatos know? Did they not tell anyone?? Diavolo would probably know as well but I haven't seen anything to show that yet. Anyways I don't really like where this is going, I would really prefer they not make everyone forget the mc disappeared
