And not all DC fans are mad! I was happy when Leafpool beat Starfire, and I was pleased with Bumble winning too. (Epilepsy dad here, who is a comics fan, and has 4 kids who love reading the warrior cat books and have the Minifig warriors become superheroes In the Gotham city I hot as a kid) im digressing here: What keeps the warrior cats fandom strong is how you all form up around the cats that were mistreated by the writers, how you bring them into your homes and hearts and make better features for them. My Amuma always used to say if enough people believed in something, then maybe their will can change the world.
Always good to see you around!
This vitriol has been super disappointing, y'know? I feel like I have to keep stressing that DC fans are valid, their frustrations with the comics are well-founded, and Bumble's opponents should also be acknowledged as victims of misogyny
And then we don't get that grace back! Doesn't matter that Warriors is a best-selling kids' series with REALLY harmful messages in it read by millions across the globe. Bumble's "just a cat" and we're "reading too much into it." As if that's not the same shit that gets said about misogyny in media broadly; "They're not real, comics are just for fun, you're reading too much into it"
Now people are like "Oh it was a mistake for WARRIOR CATS to be in this poll" because they're mad our "just a cat" is winning. Like it's not a tournament and that's the whole point. We've got people trying to say that Bumble can't even have misogyny happen to her because the human writers superficially made her a cat, as if she's not a fantasy character like every other fantasy character she's been up against.
But, ugh. I won't let it stop me, y'know? StarClan gives its hardest battles to its strongest warriors ✨✨I will never shut up about the "justa cats," this fandom rocks exactly because of the fact we're so passionate about these issues and how to address and fix them, Bumblesweep FOREVER!

it was certainly a choice for warrior cats to put a fan's cat in the book and then have his backstory be that his owners put him in a bag and threw him in the river as a kitten

Apparently tiktok picked up on onesided radiostatic ship and are calling it radiosilence. And now that tag has started to spread on the tumblr side of things. And just when we finally decided on OneWayBroadcast too 😭.
I'm aware, the only reason I'm against it is because it mixes in with another fandom (and now I see that precise problem searching it up and seeing a mix of the oseman book and hazbin) if the tag was like #hazbin radiosilence I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it
like to me the whole point of a tag is filtering and if it mixes with something else popular it kinda defeats the purpose, it's like how young justice has a ship name called spitfire and it's a filtering nightmare because it mixes in with mlp
this is not meant to be anything against people who like the name, these are just things that concern me when it comes to tagging of specific ship names

i wanna do something weird and fucky and majorly audience-participationy with my fantasy universe that would both be entertaining and also help me worldbuild but i don’t think enough people would be interested and there’s no audience participation without an audience y’know what i mean
i am asking for affirmation, gay people in my phone—if i made a fantasy worldbuilding sideblog with like fiction snippets and weekly exploration polls would you send asks

There is such a range of opinions regarding Hogwarts Legacy. There are people who think playing a video game is functionally equivalent to genocide. There are people who don't have any awareness of or interest in the controversy and are just playing bideo jame. There are people in the middle who take various tacks like "it's OK to play it if you buy a used physical copy," or "it's OK to play it if you pirate it," or "it's OK to play if your trans friend also plays," or even "I don't feel it's OK to play it but I won't get mad at those who do feel it's OK." And you have no idea where anyone lands at any given moment, so for some people it's OK to mention it without vehemently decrying it, whereas with others, if you mention it you're marking yourself politically evil and exiling yourself from your friend group. Meanwhile nobody wants to even stop buying sammiches at Chick-Fil-A when there's a Popeye's right next door. And heaven forfend you breathe a word about not supporting media that puts money in misogynists' pockets!

May wrap up time! After 254 hours I finished Breath of the Wild. Found 899 korok seeds and do not care enough to find the last. A little disappointed that you beat Ganon and that's it, no after game, but I guess that's what Tears of the Kingdom is for? I bought a few books I said I wouldn't, but it was my bookstores birthday and I must support them it's the Law. Would have liked to do more art, but I liked the stuff I accomplished! While the books were many, they were not as fun as last month. Though last month was so good it was hard to live up to it. I did manage to put a couple of reviews up on Goodreads though! That's exciting!
A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir ⭐⭐⭐⭐A good ending to the series! Hit all the right nerves! Wish it didn't focus so much on the sexual relationships but whatever it was a satisfying conclusion!
A House With Good Bones by T Kingfisher ⭐⭐⭐⭐FUN! CREEPY! VULTURES!
A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab ⭐⭐A glorified prologue to book three. Laia would not fucking wear that.
Witchmark by CL Polk ⭐⭐⭐What the fuck was that ending lol somehow the romance was the only thing I truly liked and even that I had questions about.
Black Wings Beating by Alex London ⭐Birds wouldn't fucking do that. They climbed a mountain. They were thrown off the mountain. I wish they'd died.
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo ⭐Why was THIS the most hyped book on tumblr in 2019, I KNOW there were better options. This review actually covered a lot of the problems I had. I don't think sexual assault should be used as shock value and this has too much of it lmao why the hell was Mercy cured of her trauma in like twelve hours what the fuck Bardugo
As I said in another post, I'm including Ninth House here because I can <3 And I read most of it in May so it feels weird including it in June. Time is fake anyway. Glad to have Black Wings Beating in the past hope it fades from my memory so I never have to think about it again. My favorite was probably A House With Good Bones, it seems T Kingfisher really knows exactly what I want in a book. Love me a good underground horror.
Don't forget to vote in my Best Book In May poll! I want to know what others think!

I am a good decision maker.

Had a nightmare last night (yes it was a nightmare) that Stina was voted the number one villain in Kotlc. Not Gisela, not the council, not Vespera- Stina.
Tumblr media
Listen, I know I've excluded bad things those parties have done, but I only have so much space; fitting an entire list would be difficult.
Anyway, I'm always fascinated to hear about other people's dreams and nightmares, as I have very few of my own. All hail Stina, our villain <3

this is gonna sound so silly but over the last year I've been doing a reread of all the books on my shelves. I hit my "childhood favorites" section around December and am chugging through, and will be rereading the Septimus Heap series again once I finish the Magnus Chase series. I had the first book memorized as a kid (I could still probably pull up the first chapter in my memory if I wanted to) but I only read books 5-7 like twice before putting the series down for a few years. I'm so glad I follow you bc I know once I read those SH books again in a couple weeks I'm gonna be insufferable since they were definitely my favorite as a kid and I'm so so so so excited to read them again and to have an active fandom to see again when I do 💕💕💕 (I see your polls and recognize like 3/4 the characters but wanna read books 5-7 to get a refresh before I start voting on them lol)
Anyway this was long and rambly but I guess at the bottom: I love SH, I'm excited to read it again, I'm excited to know someone else loves it like I did and it feels like I'm gonna have someone to talk about it with for the first time in my life (never had a friend who'd read it and could geek out about it) so thank you and I'm excited to hop back in the fandom 💕 thank you for reading!!
:D

The Last
slow building apocalyptic thriller
an american academic is at a conference in a remote Swiss hotel when a nuclear apocalypse strands him with just 20 others
50 days in, a body is found in a watertank and he becomes obsessed with investigating to find out who did it
even though the remaining people are just trying to quietly survive as supplies slowly dwindle and the winter approaches
#the last#hanna jameson#aroaessidhe 2023 reads#so I read this because there’s an aromantic side character!#she’s an interesting/complex character who has a friends w benefits thing with the MC#a few stereotypes but like she actively counters them#the only weird thing about it is that it’s implied she’s a republican who voted for the ppl who started the nuclear war…..#like. would a right wing person identify as aro lmao#but also like i’m okay with not all ‘representation’ being good people.#as for the rest of the actual book i found it quite interesting overall!#i enjoyed that it wasn’t just 'fighting dangerous people to survive' immediately like a lot of the postapoc genre#(though i wonder how much food they had to be fine for 2 months??)#though there is a bit of that in places when they leave the hotel#a lot of interesting characters and like.....discussion on what different kinds of people would do in that situation#the australian accent (audiobook) of the australian character…..not sure about that LMAO#also I don’t believe the internet would still function after half the world has blown up? like this thing needs upkeep right#there’s a bit where the MC is talking to two dudes who start talking like: so are we gonna repopulate society?#and being creepy about the women. and the MC is obviously like: yikes!#but also nobody even suggests like……we could just die? without repopulating humanity whatever the fuck that means?#why is that concept not even brought up?????? i am horrified that anyone would consider having children in that scenario. christ.#anyway i guess yeah overall a few things im like hm about but it's a pretty good book#aromantic books#(also the MC has a wife on the other side of the world but like. there's not any actual romance. his thing with the aro woman is offpage)
