I think part of the reason I’ve been slow to write is because I can just tell no one really cares. The interaction is so so so bad it’s almost non-existent.

It’s easier for me to write a few blurbs or text posts on tumblr than it is for me to sit down and write full chapters of something it feels like no one will ever care to read.

I’m not saying I’ll never do it. It’s just really hard to dedicate time to something when the community at large isn’t there anymore.

#it’s immensely frustrating because at this point I feel like everyone is in their own little bubble #they’re either so invested in their own works that they don’t care about other peoples #or they’re only supporting/reading from their very exclusive small group of friends #and no matter how many times they say they ‘just have a long list of things to read’ it becomes pretty obvious whether or not someone cares #enough about you and your work when they seemingly are reading/invested in other works #just not YOURS #and that’s pretty defeating to be around #especially when you have tried really really hard to be supportive to others #yeah the likes instead of reblogs and the TikTokification of tumblr is a big issue #but so is the exclusivity that people sort of unintentionally make on here

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

It's honestly crazy that discussion around testosterone HRT skews so much towards the beginning stages of it (to the point that you have dozens of guys thinking their transition is "failed" if they don't pass by like a year in lol) and what the initial changes of the first couple of months to years look like, like the classic laundry list of those early basic changes like bottom growth, voice drop, etc, when IMO literally none of that compares remotely to the depth and intensity of the long term total masculinization you start to experience like 3-5+ years in.
