Oh my god I spent so long writing a FUCKING RESPONSE and tumblr deleted it kill me. ANYWAY “is this anything” friend this is everything. 🤝

I think the two of them are uniquely able to understand each other bcuz in summary, the things they are both most vulnerable and affected by, the things that have probably damaged their lives most, are things they cannot conceal from others. Laios’ autism and Chilchuck’s size. There’s VERY good discussions on whether Chil is totally normal, autistic but very good at masking, somewhere inbetween, or even whether he’s cis, and those would all INFORM this conversation but whichever way you read him, he is socially aware enough to see that Laios is NOT. And it drives him crazy and he is constantly frustrated and trying to teach him to be more aware of himself as the party leader and just “be more normal”. In my opinion this is because Chil KNOWS how much it hurts to live with a part of yourself you can’t control that makes it hard to make your way through the world — in his own way, he is trying to take care of Laios. This may be both for selfish (he wants a good stable party and that requires a good socially savvy party leader) and selfless (chilaios…) reasons, but either way. It’s essentially just there in the text To Me.

Chilchuck is probably extra frustrated because, at least as he seems to see it, Laios COULD choose to shave off those rough edges of himself and “pass” as respectable/“normal”. (Another reason I kinda think Chil has his own autism thing happening. In my experience, shamefully, I’ve been least patient with people who I see as like me but they just haven’t figured out how to stop the world from hurting them like I have.) (I imagine chil often thinks things like. why don’t you just change. Don’t you see how much easier it would be for you. Don’t you see how much you’re letting the world hurt you. Don’t you know what that will do to you, over time.) meanwhile Chilchuck cannot stop the rest of the world from seeing him as either childLIKE or just straight up a tall-man kid. No matter how professional he is or how scathingly he can insult people or how much he can drink — he can’t stop what people SEE when they LOOK at him (this also makes him a great trans character To Me). I think Laios knows exactly how this feels. He’s not seen as a kid, so it’s not exactly the same. But despite having everything Chilchuck would like to have (tall, looks manly, socially respectable in appearances)… Laios is never going to pass as normal once people get to know him. He ISN’T socially aware. He CAN’T pretend to be someone else anymore, not once the story starts.

So autistic Laios keeps bumbling through social situations that make people want to fucking hunt him for sport. He can’t say the right things, and when he has tried to be himself, we can assume it’s been very poorly received in the past, both when dungeoneering and prior as a little kid. When he’s not being manic about his monster special interest he seems to constantly be doing an Autism Stare that serves to keep people away from him and his sister.

The fact that Chil and Laios both, to some degree, can’t hide what they hate most about themselves, makes them uniquely able to understand each other. And treat each other with sympathy/empathy underneath it all. Laios is the one out of their party who most treats Chilchuck as an adult with agency (understands the stress of his work, defends him, lets him steer situations, listens to his advice, never demeans him or gives any indication he thinks he’s a child altho he did assume Chil is younger than him). If the daydream hour extras that give rough indications of who joined the party when are canon, Chilchuck is the party member who’s been with the party the longest, almost since Falin and Laios founded it, despite thinking of Laios as “the party leader comma I GUESS”. He keeps trying to beat lessons about leading parties into Laios’ head despite many ppl around him considering him a lost cause. As I’ve said in other posts…. He could probably just fucking walk out at any time and either retire or get a different party, and we know Chil has no problem hitting da bricks, but he doesn’t.

The things about themselves that make them most able to relate to each other are also the things that sometimes make them grate against each other (Chil berating Laios in the way only a guy with a major complex can and Laios pouting about it lmao. Laios continuing to be a big cute socially inept dummy anyways.) BUT THAT’S LOVE, BABEY!!!

Jake ran towards him to give him a hug and after pulling out he took a large set of Heavy books stacked over one another and wrapped in gift wrapping paper from one of the guys standing beside him, "LOOK WHAT I GOT YOU"

Sunghoon excitedly teared out the wrapping paper, thinking it was the new series of books from his favourite author, Hagumi Haru.

To his utter disappointment, it was not the latest series from Hagumi Haru but the latest series from Lee Nari!

He gave an angry glare to Jake but poor Jake only grinned.

He spent rest of his birthday with his friends yet occasionally thinking of how fun would it be to have You here with him and remembering all the memories you both spent together.

That night, before sleeping after everyone was gone he started to read Lee Nari's books for the first time ever. And to his own surprise, he was so engrossed in the series that he lost track of time. Being a fast reader, he finished reading that WHOLE BIG series in one night! But he found something weird in the series so he decided by not text the real author. That night, he also decided to dig up some things about Her from the internet, to his bad luck, he couldn't find anything. She is so secretive, he thought, just like 'HER'.

was thinkinf about this yesterday and i think ive cracked the idea of taka having tumblr, im an absolute genius and you will hear me out Okay

basically hes like a gimmick tumblr account that got famous for posting specific stuff and being Odd about it

the things he posts are like 5000 word posts just talking about his day in excruciating detail, talking about his studies and whatnot. it feels *weird* reading it bcuz hes describing oddly specific things like what he uses to clean his boots or whatever but its still Somewhat normal-ish.

he gets asks and replies to them with some unrelated tangent, some people ask him if hes autistic and hes like That is a very interesting question, I have actually done research in my spare time, because alot of my acquaintances are on the "Spectrum", and one of them, who thinks hes some 'Overlord of Ice', threw his pet hamsters at me and they scratched me on the face, and I had to go to the nurse in case he did not vaccinate them, I did not want to get rabies potentially, and-

basically letting his thoughts out without needing to sound like hes lecturing someone, he treats his blog like a diary and barely even realizes just how much attention he gets bcuz he logs in to post and then logs out

Occasionally, however, he will post something like "I cannot do this anymore I hate my life" and right after that he will post again "Apologies for the previous post, I was unmedicated, I am okay now. Anyway," and start talking about his studies again or whatever. and the funniest part is that he will not delete any sudden episode posts like that. he knows he can delete posts, but he doesnt think its worth hiding anything, which is why if he makes One grammar mistake in the 4 pages essay long posts, he will just reblog it correcting the ONE error like "*you're. I misspelled, sorry." and you are left to go look for that mistake he made in the first place

he will occasionally turn his posts into vents or nonsensical rambles like "I was reading a book about self-care recently, it was very informing. One of the chapters said 'It's important to have people in your life to support you'. Why does no one love me? Who should I rely on for support? What is wrong with me?" and people will reblog it like OP are you alright you can talk to us:( and he'll be like I'm perfectly okay dont ask me questions please (<-about to have another episode)

oh, I've had a hunch that Sanji got... cranked up to 11 in the anime. after OPLA I became manga-only reader, as I wanted the rawest possible OP experience and also bcuz reading is quicker than watching the anime 😅 (I'm still not even halfway through -- recently started Impel Down -- but it is such a great story, I already love it so much!!!) but I also started dipping my toes into the fandom. and I saw people hating Sanji for being a gross pervert. but while reading the manga, this man gave me more of a love-sick puppy vibes??? all the swooning and fussing over Nami and Robin seemed almost sweet (him running towards them with flowers in Skypiea or cotton candy in Long Ring Island? c'mon, that was adorable) he has his moments but they aren't even that bad, tbh. I wondered that maybe it was a misguided hate towards his special treatment for women (chivalry?????) rankling feminists, tired of men treating women like wilting flowers in constant need of man-help but no, people seemed very dead-set on him being a straight up pervert and I realised... oh, those are anime fans... oh, no... what happened here, and I got discouraged from trying to watch the anime, since if it changed Sanji, one of the main characters, it was very likely to change other things, especially given how old the anime is. and then I realised that it already changed things even in the first episode and I kind of... stuck to the manga for now. maybe I will watch some movies just to see the One Piece world prettily animated 🤔

(Long post) First of all, some recommendations for you so you can enjoy the animation ^^ If you want to enjoy One Piece animated with an "Oda feel", watch the movie "Strong World". The script is written by Oda and you can watch it after finishing Thriller Bark. Like with the rest of the movies, the content is not Canon content, so what you see on them doesn't really happen in the real One Piece story (even if some of the enemies pasts are canon), but this one is the best and more on character we can probably see.

After that, Oda was executive producer in "Film Z" (supposed to be after FishMan Island Arc, but preferably after Punk Hazard Arc to avoid spoilers) and "Gold" (watch after Dressrosa Arc). His involvement with these movies is not so big, tho, so watch them with that in mind. (For example, in "Gold" Oda only rewrote the script of the climax of the story, because he was specially unsatisfied with how that part was done. They had to redraw the last 10min of the movie OvOu)

Also he was a producer in "Red" (watch after Wano Arc), and he made a lot of interesting comics and things that are canon pre-Movie... but the Movie on itself is weird. They changed many things of his initial notes and the characters are very "out of character" in my opinion. It has very good music and animation, tho! But yeah... watch with caution ^^U

(I was not gonna mention it at first, but why not... there is also "Stampede", but "Oda stated that he would not have allowed the movie's story to be produced if it was not a commemoration of the anime's 20th anniversary." So... I wouldn't watch it if you expect anything that makes sense in his world or characters xDU)

(You also have the OVA "One Piece - Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack", which pre-dates Toei's Anime adaptation. Oda took a lot of interest in this OVA, and he praised it a lot when it came out in 1998) ----------- And second, in my opinion, you made the right decision going to the Manga! As you say, it is the best way to get the rawest version of the story. And also way faster to read it than to watch it xD

And now, oh boy, about Sanji... (this is gonna be a very reduced and fast thing I'm gonna write, but I plan on analyze the differences between the Manga and Anime in this other tumblr, if you want to see more eventually):

Your hunch is completely correct. Sadly Sanji's character is completely obliterated in the Anime ^^U

He is reduced to his perverted side (and very veery amped up), or to being mean and fighting all the time. He has nothing of the kindness he shows in the Manga, only the things they can not exclude for the story to make sense. The many fillers also show a different Sanji than the one shown in the Manga. The Anime also shows Nami completely disgusted by him very often, which influences the way we see him as viewers. She just treats him like a slave when she is being "nice". (Nami is also very different in the Anime. They all are different people in the Anime, honestly u_uUU)

So yes, I think most of people who hate him for being gross and a pervert mainly have their first and only contact being the Anime. And it is understandable feeling like that, because it is seriously a bad representation of the character. He is not himself at all.

The Anime reaches an even more unpalatable degree after the time-skip. ---- [((Little Spoiler of right After Time-Skip: Sanji comes back more sensitive to pretty women in the Manga, which translates into many nosebleeds until he recovers. But in the Anime they had always shown him in that level of pervert, or even worse! So they had to amp it even MORE and show him harassing random women and everyone being disgusted around him... something that doesn't happen in the Manga! It makes the character really stand out in grossness))] ----

As you say, Sanji in the Manga is a sweet guy, and only shows as a real pervert sometimes... but it is shown in a funny way. And Nami and Robin react in a non-negative way, mostly just amused that he is such a dummy. But everyone knows he is just harmless.

He totally acts like a love-sick puppy and has those sweet romantic outburst, but he can be a normal human being. And most importantly, treats them mainly as friends and human beings. Anime Sanji could never xDU

so u started writing tbah in feb?? and u finished writing the series,, that makes sm sense why you're always on time. what's your writing and posting process like? do u only start posting after you fully finished writing.. do u stay active a few mins to look at readers reaction after a fic drops,, i noticed that each writer does it in their own style

oh yeah !! when i write a series i try to write the whole thing before posting about it at all. i would feel sooo baaaad if i started posting a series and stopped midway bcuz i lost inspo for it, yk?

(also if i did that with tbah i think i'd get hate and honestly... can't blame y'all for that. i am putting readers thru the wringer with this one lmfao)

en ee wayz. my process is ill-defined and laughable, but i'll try to explain!

i wrote each part, tried to keep the word count of each chapter as equal as i could- but sometimes a chapter ends/draws on on it's own, yk? some endings come naturally. after i completed the entire series i read back thru the whole thing to edit (which took fuckin forever but i never edit my work ((lazy!!)) and i wanted this series to be a lil more polished)

and since tumblr is a totally easy and compliant site i copied over the chapters into my queue one by one- and then had to compare side by side to add any italics/spacing in the original in google docs bcuz sometimes tumblr just copies words and nothing else.

bada bing bada boom i queued it all up to post on mondays bcuz ppl need something to look forward to at the beginning of the week and tbah was set in motion !!

for as long as the series is i think i actually wrote most of it fairly quickly. i really knew what i wanted out of it before i started writing it- i tend to daydream about fics a lot and therefore had a lot of it already in mind. but the little parts of filler and the editing took a lot of my time.

also i LOVE your guys' reactions !!! i frequently check comments and tags for your funny and angry messages !! i go back and reread them too to get a lil boost thru my writers block. i'm prolly the only tumblr user that actually has their notifs turned on just so i can catch when someone comments !! that goes for all my works, not just this series <3 i appreciate and love all my readers so so much, you guys get me giddy and you keep me going !! <3 kisses on all your foreheads !!!!

ok i blocked you bcuz of this way earlier than this whole thing blew up, but i will give you the benefit of the doubt because you seem to genuinely not know why you attract terfs. saying that “trans women are women” is really just a slogan at this point to show a political stance, right. but the way you post feeds into a gender essentialism that is right in line with terf beliefs that all “biological” women are victims and misogyny is inescapable except with other “biological” women. ur posts against men (but of course not trans men) aren’t really saying “destruct the patriarchy” like you think they are. they lack any political power and are instead making ur personal feelings into a larger insurmountable divide between “biological” cis men and “biological” cis women. as if they’re different distinct species. this way of talking is actually mostly used by terfs to signal their own ideas of what men and women really are, and hold the weight of that connotation. there are waaaay more constructive ways of discussing women’s oppression and how it shows up in our personal lives, ways that don’t rely on an inherent biology. im really not trying to start a fight but the way you post relies heavily on jokes about being a girl and what that means and who can be a girl and what men are and while you might be saying them with the intention of solidarity w women or anti misogyny, they come across completely tone deaf. it’s feeding into bio essentialism and transphobia that you clearly don’t understand. saying that trans women are women isn’t fighting for trans rights because they quite literally are women, and stating a fact doesn’t often deter cryptos. their online presence is to find people who post like you, see that you are walking a thin line, and give those posts a lot of attention and support. they are here to recruit cis women who skirt that line. the reality is that you have a presence here that strongly contributes to cryptos leaking into the dash. and saying you were oblivious to it, while it may be true, of course doesn’t reduce the harm. my advice is to simply apologize, and walk away from the app for awhile. you should do some reading on what terf ideology is/how it shows itself, and how it hurts real trans people. if you truly don’t understand why people are targeting you, that means you need to do some deeper learning, because you can’t take responsibility for your past red flag posts unless you understand why and how they hurt others. and keeping a mentality that you are a victim in this situation is only harmful to you. those anons in ur ask box talking about “how could they do that to you/ you totally aren’t a terf!!/ you’ve don’t nothing wrong” are most likely terfs. making you feel victimized and isolated are keys to recruitment, and they aren’t being sympathetic to the trans people who have hated seeing your posts gain popularity with blatant terfs in the notes. but anyways just take some time to yourself and do some reading, because no one is going to send you an itemized list of the cryptos following you when you don’t even understand why they do. that’s all i wanted to say, but know that i truly do wish you the best.

Hey you guys, who are still active! It’s been a very long time. For those that have been with me since the beginning I applaud you and love you oh so much.

Just a little update of me: Honestly, this ship hasn’t been on my mind for awhile probably due to me being uninterested in the anime altogether (& you probably have a feeling why). Also, it has to be with me adulting. As I get to the end of my 20s, I have less free time and more responsibilities. But for some reason, at the end of the year I start thinking about them again (plus my SO has the same bday as Ino, hehe). Im slowly seeing the tumblr community turning into a ghost town and its kinda sad. But as long as I have this blog, I will always feel like I have a duty to post something, even if it’s not everyday.

And what better way than to see my fav couples acting silly. 💁🏻‍♀️Hehe. I’m glad I was able to get this out bcuz I had something else but compared to this, it was boring. I’ve realized over the years that I’m better at story telling than portraits or scenarios, which isn’t anything bad, I was just never good at them.
