Next time believe 'em.

Time and again, we've seen knowledgeable women calmly point out the disqualifying faults and failings of powerful men seeking important positions, only for them be doubted, dissed and dismissed. Then, later on, we find out they were right all along. Why don't we listen to intelligent women when they caution us about unworthy men?
Very few in the nation's media paid sufficient attention to Hillary Clinton's many impassioned warnings about the danger Donald Trump represented to the nation. "Making Donald Trump our commander in chief would be a historic mistake," she said in a 2016 speech on national security in San Diego, adding that Trump was "temperamentally unfit" to be president.
Even after he was (just barely) elected president, the former Secretary of State continued to alert us about Trump.
When leaders deny things we can see with our own eyes, like the size of a crowd at the inauguration, when they refuse to accept settled science when it comes to urgent challenges like climate change, it is the beginning of the end of freedom.
We now know Mrs. Clinton was correct on all counts about the incompetent, criminal president. Just as we now know that Brandeis University law professor Anita Hill was accurate in her assessment of the disreputable Clarence Thomas. When President George H.W. Bush nominated Thomas for a seat on the Supreme Court in 1991, Hill came forward to relate how he sexually harassed her when they worked together in government.
But, as NPR points out, at the time "there were no women on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and only two women in the US Senate." Hill was consequently vilified and turned into an object of distrust and scorn. While Thomas was elevated to the high court.
A scant 27 years later, California psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford accused another SCOTUS nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, of groping and assaulting her when they were both attending high school in the early 1980s. A letter signed by more than 200 alumnae of Ford's all-girls school called for an investigation into the allegation. Naturally, that probe never took place, and today Kavanaugh is called Mr. Justice.
We've seen this movie over and over. Stacey Abrams describes how Brian Kemp stole the Georgia governorship through voter suppression, only to be denounced in the national press. Journalist E. Jean Carroll charges Trump with raping her in a department store and is ignored. When we should be trusting what women in cases like these say, all too often their testimony simply ends up being discounted and disregarded.

He's crying because his whiteness, his maleness, his PRIVILEGE, his "promised" perfect future is being questioned, and society never prepared him for failure or for facing the consequences of his actions #KavanaughHearings

Politics aside (impossible, I know, but let’s pretend for a moment), look at the behavior displayed in the #kavanaughhearings today. A woman who has been ridiculed and attacked for sharing one of the most difficult moments in her life while staying calm and collected versus a man who yelled and evaded questions within minutes. And women are the ones who are “too emotional for politics”. This isn’t even a trial! This isn’t even deciding his guilt or innocence! It’s a nomination for a highly privileged job. That’s it. We’ll find out if he “got the job” or not tomorrow but these proceedings have sparked a much more important movement. I believe Dr. Ford. Saying that does not negate my belief that people are presumed innocent until proven guilty. That’s still true. One would hope that our justice system will do its job, but it’s doubtful there will even be an investigation to find out the truth at this point. Shocking. I’m not debating about this. In fact, I’ll probably ignore any comments cause it’s been an exhausting day and everyone’s mind is made up anyway. My hope is that maybe we’ll all start to at least listen to women and all victims. So many of us have our stories to tell and having a kind, sympathetic ear can only help. I’m so tired. Let us rest a while before we rise to begin again tomorrow. #BelieveWomen #sexualassault #kavanaugh #imdonedebating #illblockyousofast #soexhausted #christineblaseyford https://www.instagram.com/p/BoQfU3pDZwS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1lbyno8mccoay

Repost @plannedparenthood ・・・ Today, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford is sharing her story of sexual assault at the hands of Brett Kavanaugh under oath with the Senate Judiciary Committee. We already knew that Brett Kavanaugh was not fit to serve on the Supreme Court. The allegations of sexual violence only further disqualify him from a seat on the Supreme Court. We know the impact assault can have on a person’s health and well-being. We stand with survivors of sexual assault. We believe survivors. And we call for the nomination to be withdrawn and for all Senators to reject Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination. #KavanaughHearings #BelieveSurvivors https://www.instagram.com/p/BoO5BtAg1nu/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=133ep8ux1jtie

Just a reminder. Hillary Clinton sat in a hearing for 11 hours as Republicans accused her of killing people.
She didn't cry once.
She didn't yell once.
She didn't mention beer once.
And we are the unhinged, snowflakes?

Oh man
Im watching Dr. Ford's testimony against Kavanaugh and in disgusted at the republicans. Especially Lindsey graham of south carolina. Silent during her entire obviously emotional questioning and then taking cheap shots at her once its over and youve left the room? Just say youre a misogynist and leave so we can replace you with people who actually care about the truth and treating people with dignity. Dr. Ford is remarkably brave and this is a history making moment.

so I guess sexual assault that occurs before the present day doesn’t matter to the Republican Party
