I actually have been drawing for 20+ years...
5 years old: Started drawing stickmen.
14 years old: ‘Manga proportion’ was my fundamental knowledge.
18 years old: Started focusing on digital art.
22 years old:
26 years old (NOW):
If you notice, most of them are drawings of human and human face. That was my comfort zone.
I did not learn perspective and other important drawing aspects because they were too intimidating.
Even right now, I still don’t understand the basics of perspective. Sometimes, colour theory and shading still confuse me. And I have very little to no experience in drawing animals, backgrounds, transportation, jewelries, food, etc.
The art gap was too big to ignore. You’d think that someone who has been drawing for 20+ years is able to draw various things lol. I didn’t have any guides and I overthought which skills I should learn first etc. I didn’t end up actually practising because the energy was spent on worrying.
------
I think I have a better learning mindset now. I hope that I could follow the curriculum in ARTSCHOOL and see some improvements.
For each term, I will post the ‘before & after’ drawings to showcase my current knowledge of the term’s topic and how it’s improved after watching the lessons.
Boy, I’m gonna go on a long ride :D
