I've read a lot of fics where Bashir gains enough self awareness to realize that his little "frontier medicine" spiel was a fucked up thing to say to Kira.

I understand the wish fulfillment. However. Let us be for real for just one moment:

Julian said that and immediately forgot about it.

Kira has logged it in her memory and weighed every new piece of information about the good doctor against that fucked up thing he said about her homeland. But Julian was already three thoughts past it as soon as the words were out of his mouth. He will never think about that sentence again. He will never realize why he made a terrible first impression. Unless someone sits him down and explains point by point why it was a messed up thing to say, he will never understand. And no one is going to do that.

i actually hc that yusuke and keiko get a divorce a few years down the line of them living together, getting married, and after having one or two kids

he’s just not suited for “human” life. never been the type. he was at his happiest fighting demons and challenging his own physical strength. being a detective gave him a purpose and put him in an environment where he was truly free to be himself.

at first he tried to fit in. really gave the whole “husband” and “father” thing a shot, but I think even keiko could notice the eventual dulling of his eyes. his lackluster attitude and eventually everything just seemed to make him mad. make him lash out.

and he’d never mean it like that. really. he’s a nice guy, they both know that to be a fact. but he’s just off. not really feeling this whole “living” vibe anymore and he thinks again maybe it’s because he’s not really supposed to be alive

but keiko knows better. it becomes obvious with age and it’s something she learns not to force on him. not anymore, at least.

i think they’re both happier after the divorce too. now that they can stop pretending and forcing their own ideas of “normal” on each other. yusuke mostly resides in the demon world, switching back from time to time and always visiting her. it’s kind of like they’re dating again.

she never remarries or even goes out with anyone else. her heart belongs to him. and his to her. they’re just better worlds apart from time to time.

she sees him smile more often. the energy around him is completely different when he’s set free. when he can fight and train and let himself be. and it’s a little sad that she can’t share the life she always wanted to with him. the one she’d picture after watching corny romance movies while he’d be away. but then again, she always knew they’d be kinda different. yusuke was always different.

While I'm at it anon gave me that excellent idea of Seiko being disappointed with the fact anytime she uses a sword shen gong wu, the people and objects just run through the blade, let's consider Keiko's role in all of it.

So, if you're familiar with that ask in which I joke around Keiko would be besties with the ghost of Dashi then you know in what direction this post is going!

In the latest ask, I wrote 3 different incorrect quotes that concern Seiko's disbelief in Dashi lol. She hates the idea of holding a sword, which can't serve its original purpose and once she learns Keiko can communicate with Dashi, she asks her for a favor.

And one day IT happens

Dashi: Sup' Keiko!

Keiko: Oh, great you're here! We have to discuss something! Do you remember my friend, Seiko?

Dashi: Scary katana girl?

Keiko: Yes. She would like to make a complaint.

Dashi: ... Wha- what complaint?

Keiko: You see, she thinks your sword shen gong wus are highly impractical.

Dashi: Well, to some extent I agree but believe me, that was a well-thought-through plan.

Keiko: She's not buying that. Actually, I have 3 paged-letter from her in which she explains why most of your creations suck.

Dashi, offended: Tell her I don't like her.

In such a way Keiko has become a mediator between Seiko and Dashi lol. Poor Keiko is tired of it but at least sometimes she has a reason to laugh at them for being ridiculous.

The funniest argument occurred when Dashi visited Keiko at the same time Seiko was in her room. Once Seiko was informed that Dashi's flying around, she started making remarks. Usually, Dashi brushes similar taunts off but this time he got angry and Keiko barely kept up with repeating Dashi's words so Seiko could hear what was on the grandmaster's mind. Irritated Seiko stood up from the couch the girls were sitting on and headed to the doors.

The grandmaster appeared in front of her, swinging his hands very close to her face. Keiko stopped talking because it seemed as if Seiko sensed where Dashi is too. It looked as if Seiko's indifferent gaze traced Dashi's movements.

Finally, Dashi let off anything that was on his mind and said: 'And you can't do anything about it!' Seiko responded by shutting the door with incredible force. Dashi disappeared behind the shut-down doors. There was a moment of silence until Keiko just burst out laughing. Seiko, feeling disoriented, asked Keiko what was so funny. Then Keiko explained how rudely she chucked the ghost out of the bedroom and Seiko started laughing too.

Seiko, trying to calm down: Seriously, girl. I didn't see him!

Keiko: Duude believe me you looked at him dead in the eyes and I thought you can attack him any second haha

Seiko: Well, I sort of did with the door lol

Keiko: Lol but why did you shut the doors so suddenly?

Seiko: Well, initially I wanted to go to the kitchen to get a drink but I remembered that dude might still be here, I got mad and decided to release that anger.

Keiko: You wanted to punch something but there was nothing to punch?

Seiko: Exactly. Only your doors. Be glad I didn't break them haha

Keiko: Yeah thanks for that haha But, jokes aside. Don't EVER do that again. You two are acting like 5 year-olds already I don't want it to change into a bigger conflict. You should apologize

Seiko left the note with the simple 'I'm sorry. Let's never bring up the topic of your inventions again'

Dashi, on the other hand, got the hump lol After that he didn't speak to Keiko for a month dfghjk But eventually he accepted the apologies!

HAHA thank you very much!! im glad you think so :D unfortunately im not very good at explaining how i work, but ill try my best to show what i mean!!

once again this is long as hell. you know the drill at this point

to be honest, half the battle i fight with drawing in the osmt style is just. Looking at it. the ososan art style actually fluctuates pretty wildly depending on what you're looking for, whether that be the mobile games (for instance, tabimatsu and hesowars look nothing alike in terms of style despite both being the same source material), official art and merch, or even the seasons of the show itself!

using ichi as my example here since i draw him the most, but its pretty easy to play spot the difference with the varying styles. even within a specific season you can do this across episodes, especially with season 1!

when i draw, i tend to be a bit sacrilege and use references across different media; usually ill use the show [especially season 2, if only because its a bit more "uniform"] as reference for the actual features and colors/poses/etc, but i like to use hesowars to reference proportions, since they seem to be most consistent there.

SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO NOTE: theres a WEALTH of fanartists that have styles that are INCREDIBLY similar to the show, so be careful to check your sources! these artists deserve credit for their hard work, which they often don't get since their work is reposted under the guise of being official art.

once you've pinned down the exact style you'd like to emulate, and the character you're looking to draw, its really just a matter of finding references, which is pretty easy! you can scrub through different episodes for good angles/shots, or if you're going for one of the game styles the AU wiki has most of the games catalogued to my knowledge. if you're looking to draw an oc, use characters you think they would look similar to in the show. if you really wanna waste your time, though, you can always scrub through crowd scenes in the show to see if any background characters might look like what you're going for; the season 3 episode Mt. Takao comes to mind, there were a lot of cute mob characters there.

using keiko as my example here, you can see that i pulled her features from multiple different characters to get her to look right in the style. with ocs, its important to reference a number of different characters, since the likelihood of a background character being a 1:1 for your little guy is unfortunately pretty low. there WILL, however, be a lot of characters that look KIND of like them. the key is to figure out what parts go where!

to this point, most prominent ososan women have very similar stock anime girl faces with very minor differences, so if youre looking to make a cute girl oc, most of the womens' faces can be used somewhat interchangeably. if you want your cute girl oc to have a more unique face, though, the movie gave us some women with more unique faces in the form of the NEETs' old classmates! theres also no harm in referencing male characters faces in this regard. #butchswag #kiruminikuya

BUT. going back to the assumption that you're drawing a canon character, today I'll be drawing oso for my example

when you're first getting a feel for the style, tracing some of your references can actually be a really great way to acclimate yourself to the characters proportions and features. think of like when you were a kid, and would trace over pictures of pokemon or cartoon characters so you could draw them better. its basically the same principle! this was especially helpful for me when it came to eyes; they vary the most wildly of any other trait that characters have in ososan, so going over the different shapes to get a feel for each of them was very important.

when you trace, though, I recommend doing so a bit more loosely, sort of like if you're doing a photo study for anatomy; block out the basic shapes and do small markers for different features (i.e small lines to denote where the eyes start and and, distance from nose to mouth, things like that), and from there draw the rest on your own.

after long enough you'll get a feel for the basic placement of where everything should go! the eyes and nose are undoubtedly the hardest when it comes to the sextuplets, since they shift around a LOT between games/seasons/etc. so don't feel bad if you have a hard time with that, since there isnt really a "right" answer with how frequently it changes. i still fuck it up all the time myself!

as for some basic tips, heres some stuff i try to keep in mind when drawing them that just helps the finished product look a bit nicer!

when drawing the hair + fringe line, its important to swoop it downwards a little bit; the flat across look Can work, but if you're not careful you risk showing the tops of their eyes, which is um. ew! ick! nast!

when a matsu is facing forward, their hair will usually tend towards one direction to keep the silhouette. in most screenshots i saw, the bowl cut points left! that said, dont be afraid to point rightwards if its better for your specific drawing!

and lastly: USE THE LIQUIFY TOOL. LIBERALLY. i am not joking when i say this has saved my ass so many times, its hard to get the placement right on the facial features and even harder to get everything to LOOK good, so if its available to you i HIGHLY suggest just squishing everything around with a liquify tool until it looks right. you can always go back and correct the blurry lines. its really a life saver

Cinder is a lot more sexualized then the male parts of Salem's inner circle

Like tyrian is shirtless sometimes but that does not feel as...drawn attention to, as say, the lingering shots of Cinder's butt or thighs. Or her wearing short shorts and high boots you know what I mean?

I do, anon. RWBY got a lot of attention back in the day for its anti-upskirt technology, but that doesn't give it a free pass for all the other ways you might (and it does) sexualize the cast. I've never been inclined to give RWBY too much shit in this regard because it is pulling from media with a LONG history of such designs and cinematography - it feels unfair of me to act like RWBY is uniquely responsible for such problems when I'm simultaneously willing to overlook, say, the 90's "gag" of Yusuke flipping up Keiko's skirt - but there's nevertheless a voice in the back of my mind constantly asking things like, "Why are so many of the girls fighting in heels?" and "Why are they dressed like they're going to the club and not the literal TUNDRA??" I'd kill for the whole cast, but the girls in particular, to get a re-design that focuses on fashionably compelling practicality, rather than sexy fanservice. (Though Ice Kingdom did a good job overall, particularly for Ruby.) Sure, RWBY didn't give us panty-shots, but one of the first characters we're introduced to is literally designed like a dominatrix.

If we're talking about outfits though... I'd say Emerald gets hit the worst out of Salem's minions. Yeah, Cinder is definitely sexualized in a more general sense as the tall, white (that's not a coincidence), long-legged beauty who sensually conjures fire as she prowls towards the heroes, camera focused on her hips swaying. But Emerald?

She suffers from the same problem Yang has. AKA, if your woman isn't classically beautiful (like Wiess and to a different extent Blake), or cute / child-like (Ruby, Penny), but is instead going for a sporty, comparatively masculine-esque vibe... then they've got to show a LOT of skin. RWBY makes it sexy by just denying them clothes. You're entering dangerous battles on the daily? You want to protect yourself? Too bad. The audience needs a midriff and cleavage and your whole arms to stare at. Shorten the skin-tight pants so we can see some leg too. Oh, Yang has to have long pants because she's heading into the coldest Kingdom in Remnant? Never mind that, cut a strip out to show her thigh.

"But Clyde, the girls don't need to wear armor because of aura--" then why the hell does Jaune bother wearing that heavy-ass suit? Is it weight training? Does he just think it makes him look cool? ...or does it exist in case his aura breaks and he's allowed to wear more protective gear because there are different gender expectations attached to his design? The aura argument is just a modern rehashing of the Supergirl sun argument: using made up lore to "justify" getting your women characters into skimpy outfits, despite the men rarely being held to the same standards.

Tyrian is actually an interesting exception here and if I were less tired I'd think through this argument more, but something something as the "crazy" character he's allowed more leeway in breaking those expectations. Also the open shirt shows off his scars, which likewise help sell how dangerous he is. With the exception of characters like Cinder and Nora - whose injuries are Important Character Moments the audience gets to see play out - scars are surprisingly uncommon in Remanent. Or, again, they're severely downplayed so as not to interfere with that classic beauty design (like Weiss', or even Yang who gets a perfect cut when losing her arm). So when you see a character with giant scars spanning the length of his chest, an open shirt drawing deliberate attention to them... that makes you go, "Oh shit. What's he been through to scar like that in a world where most people make it out of fights with no permanent damage?"

I’ve been thinking about something, remember what Kentaro’s mom Emiko said to Hiroshi when Lee first came back in 1982?

“Lonely scared people in pain can do terrible things”

She was referring to Lee in that instance, but this is actually also entirely true of Hiroshi.

How can Hiroshi lead a double life and lie and cheat and leave his kids behind in the way he did and do all these terrible things? Because he’s still a lonely and scared person in pain.

He might have said that he moved on from the losses of Keiko, Lee, and Bill, that he buried 3 empty boxes a long time ago, but it’s clear losing his entire family at such a young age irreparably damaged him. He lacked stability, he lacked security, two things that a child needs growing up. So a lonely and scared kid grew into a lonely and scared adult.

In many ways, maybe having two families was his own desperate way of ensuring stability and security. After all, if he loses one family like he lost his parental figures as a kid, he could at least still have the other family. There could still be stability in his life in some way. He could be secured in feeling like he won’t lose everything.

And we can see him leaving Lee behind through the same lens. It’s a way of protecting himself and his stability. Because if he accepts Lee back into his life, what if there’s more things like the obsessions that destroyed his childhood? What if Lee means more instability for the life he had built? Accepting in Lee would mean accepting all the dangers that led to him losing all of them in the first place, especially when Lee is saying that Keiko and Bill were right and gung ho about continuing the work.

So fear led him to have two families to protect himself, and fear led him to abandon another family member to also protect himself. A lonely and scared person in pain doing terrible things.

It doesn’t excuse his mistakes or how it harmed his loved ones, but it does explain why he made those choices.

Julian-is-pregnant-with-Yoshi AU but the timeline is squidged a bit so he's one month due when he goes to his medical conference.

(Miles protests, of course, but Julian has a pretty solid argument with "I'll be literally surrounded by doctors, even on the shuttle there'll be at least five, it will be absolutely fine.")

The Founders still plan to impersonate Julian, but they've done their research, so while kidnapping Julian they also deliver Yoshi and return to the station pretending to have given birth at the conference.

("Unbelievable!" says Miles. "I knew I shouldn't have let you gone." "I'm sorry you weren't there," replies the changeling, "but we were in the best hands. Dr Girani says we're both in excellent health.")

Julian wakes up at the Internment Camp, no longer pregnant. He assumes the worst. When Worf and Garak turn up, none of them mention the baby. Even Garak is too distracted by Tain to remember that Julian wouldn't know his child was safe. Or maybe he does, but chooses not to bring it up, fearing what the baby might actually be.

They escape. The irony is, if the baby hadn't been taken, he might actually have survived the camp, safe inside Julian. It's 37 days after his kidnapping. 5 months since he decided he was a more viable surrogate than Kira. He would have been due tomorrow.

Back on DS9, he does his best for Worf - always a doctor first - and waves off the concerns about his own health until later. There's something he needs to do first. He's dreading seeing Keiko and Miles, but apologising is the only thing on his mind right now.

("But what if it's not fine?" Miles had protested. "It's a medical conference, Miles," Keiko had laughed. "How much trouble could Julian really get into?" "I'll look after him," Julian had promised. "I'll keep him safe, you know I will." He should have listened to Miles.)

And he gets to the O'Brien's quarters and Miles answers the door like they've been expecting him and he doesn't even know where to start because somehow Miles is smiling at him and Keiko is smiling at him from the sofa and-

And Keiko-

And Keiko is holding a baby.

Julian looks at Miles, demanding answers to questions he can't even begin to formulate. And Miles gently asks him "Do you want to hold Yoshiro?" as if it's the most normal thing in the world.

I was quite excited to watch this since I only attended Day 2 last December. I didn’t necessarily regret not going for Day 1 but there were a couple of really neat songs in the setlist that I kinda wished I had been able to see performed live. The audio seems a bit dull but maybe it’s just me… Anyway, it’s still a pretty epic live. Please note that they decided to cut a handful of songs from the broadcast (probably to keep the whole thing at roughly 2 hours). The following songs are not included: fake garden, canta per me, she has to overcome her fear, I beg you and 砂塵の彼方へ.

Here are some random thoughts┗(•ˇ_ˇ•)―→

the world: Nothing much to say here. Decent performance but I liked the song more when it was led by Keiko.

Liminality: Loved, loved, loved this version with the amazingly talented Yuri Kasahara, Keiko and Kaori. The bridge here might be my favourite of all time.

in the land of twilight, under the moon: Never been a fan.

swordland: Another highlight for me. I think it’s easy to tell that I am a real sucker for YK’s guest vocalists that use a more operatic singing style.

luminous sword: Always been a big fan of Yuki’s SAO soundtrack. I understand why it gets performed a lot.

星屑: Even though this is a Keiko-centric song, I’ve never really liked it all that much so I don’t have much to say about it.

花守の丘: Solid.

ｗe’re gonna groove: Those who have followed me for a while know how I feel about the accordion. I dislike this instrument with a passion and it’s just featured way too heavily here. Fun fact, when Day 2 started with the accordion, I got really scared and wondered whether or not I would enjoy myself.

Obsession: Can’t say I’ve ever heard this song before. Sadly, it’s nothing that leaves a lasting impression. Also, that accordion…(¬_¬) Weird choice for LINO LEIA. It was fun hearing Keiko sing a bit of English though.

千夜一夜: Once again, not familiar with the song. Like this one a bit more though. Generally, I think I prefer rito’s vocals over LINO’s even though I don’t really know why.

Point Zero: This is one of my all-time favourite YK songs and one of the few tracks I really regret not seeing live on Day 1. Another epic performance by Yuri Kasahara. God, I love her so much.

salva nos: Speaking of regrets, yup, I’ll admit it, I am pretty bummed that I missed this one. “salva nos” and “a song of storm and fire” were the very first YK songs I ever listened to and they quite literally changed the trajectory of my life. Without those two songs, I wouldn’t have looked into more of YK’s stuff and I certainly wouldn’t have discovered Kalafina. One day, I wanna be there for a live performance. At least I got to hear “a song of storm and fire” on Day 2. So grateful for that!! Anyway, super epic.

花の唄: No thoughts.

櫂: Ahh, I almost forgot about Aimer’s Mizu no Akashi 2.0. It’s so funny to me that this is literally copy/paste. Lovely melody, I don’t even mind the vocals all that much but damn, it’s not even coming close to Wakana’s Mizu no Akashi.

朝が来る: Decent but nothing to write home about.

My Story: Ohhh, another score track from “Hanako to Anne”. I was actually blown away by Day 2’s “希望の光”. This is not as good but still quite nice. Weirdly enough I am obsessed with the uilleann pipes. How come I can’t stand the accordion but I absolutely love this instrument? Probably because I am really into the celtic sound?

Parallel Hearts: Ugh, never liked this song, not even when Wakana was still around.

stone cold: This on the other hand is a song I’ve always enjoyed but with Wakana no longer in the picture, it’s just not the same. Will never get used to the Kaori chorus. Sorry T_T Still like this though.

I really enjoy Julian's close friendships because I feel like they all say something really succinct about Julian as a genetically engineered character. Everything about them makes perfect sense.

Jadzia is because she's adventurous - the show points this out - but it's also because she's lived long enough and seen enough shit, there might actually be a chance of her accepting him as an augment, which is why Julian becomes obsessed with the idea of a relationship with her. She’s rarely judgmental. And because she is uniquely intelligent, knowledgeable and wise thanks to the symbiont, speaking to her is uniquely fulfilling for someone as unnaturally brilliant as Julian. It doesn’t hurt that she has such a soft heart, just like him. Compassion is his center, the most human thing about him that he clings to like a lifeline.

Garak is because Julian has that whole thing about spies and lying and identity crises, so he understands Garak on a core level right from the start, but they also end up being highly compatible as two cerebral, annoying, passionate people who just love analyzing and picking things (and each other) apart. They both have daddy and mommy issues. They’re both insane. Julian can be dangerous and grumpy and real with Garak and it just comes across as hot because Garak’s Cardassian. He can handle the full brunt of Julian Bashir, so he doesn’t have to edit himself so much, and when he does have to, he doesn’t have to feel guilty because Garak’s doing it, too. As an agent, Garak was also barred from meaningful attachments, just like Julian, so their attachment to each other is extra exciting and illicit. Forbidden twofold. Oh my.

O'Brien is because he's the quintessential human, an average joe in a happy marriage with a kid, which are experiences Julian can never have as an augment, so hanging out with him makes Julian feel more connected to his humanity (which he is constantly questioning the existence of). They can drink and play games and be stupid and Julian can pretend he’s normal for a while. He can listen to O’Brien talk about Keiko and his kids and his simple uncomplicated views on the world and see what a normal human life is supposed to look like. O'Brien's acceptance of him as someone with enduring human characteristics in Dr. Bashir, I Presume? is especially meaningful because of all this, though Julian has trouble accepting it. There's no one more suited to accepting Julian as human than Miles O'Brien.

I just love how neatly everything fits together.

Do u want to talk abt ur ocs..... I actually followed you initially bc they seemed so interesting and silly and I want to know more if you feel like sharing :)

I still can’t believe some ppl follow me for my ocs bc it’s usually for my fanart so this is really nice to hear! I have a couple stories/universes but the main one I’ve been…developing (it’s on and off) since I was like 13/14 is about these two kids named Keiko and Rolin!! Im still doing a lot of world and lore building but the main gist is that Rolin is a teenage boy turning 16 who returns to his hometown to live with his aunt and meets a strange young girl named Keiko (debating on making her 10-12 idk she was originally 10). I won’t go too much into like Lore stuff but she has like..my own version of clairvoyance. They are kind of opposites, with Rolin being introverted and jaded, and Keiko being loud and optimistic but they are both silly.

I think it’s been said before but the whole driving relationship of the story is the two of them going on adventures throughout the city and solving mysteries while simultaneously becoming family and finding a real home within each other and the people they’ve met and learned to love 😚

Now the story is centered around Rolin and Keiko, but a big focus is on the cast of characters that fill mostly Rolins life. Mira and Artie were friends with Rolin when they were kids before Rolin left with his mom, and all three grew up and have been living their own lives, but when Rolin comes back they get a chance to reconnect (with Keiko’s help). Valoryn (Val) is also new in town, and befriends Rolin and Keiko. This is just a messy fast doodle of them I have better art in my oc tags🙏

The other major cast is Rolin’s family, and Rolin has always been Asian so as I worked on the story his family kept getting more and more relevant especially with a major theme of the story being about the connections you have with people in your life so like I can’t leave them out. And I’ve never settled on an Asian ethnicity until recently where I was like I might as well make him Filipino so I can base his family off my own🫡 Cousins (both blood and not) that are years older than you but treat you like siblings and give u silly nicknames 🫶

Now Diana (or Deedee) is one of those characters I’ve had for a long time, and I made her because I liked those laidback mentor figures in anime (like Qrow from rwby) and wanted a laidback lady one 🤷🏻‍♀️ she also has some Misato from nge influence. She has always been written to be a mentor figure to Rolin and Keiko, and at one point I think I was going to make her his actual aunt but stuck to her being just a cousin so I could write about her relationship with her mom 🫶 Unlike her brother Darius, she does not live with her mom and Rolin has to go out of his way to meet her.

And Rolin’s parents’ story aren’t the main focus (they aren’t really present themselves in the main story) and it’s mostly just flashback stuff but they r silly and sad and I love drawing them 😼

The Whale Sanctuary Project have their sights set on Wikie and Keijo and they want to accelerate their plans and make a bay pen to put them into.

This "revolutionary plan" is exactly like what these whales already have - round the clock vet care, med pools, gated pools, slide outs - but with more stressors and uncontrollable variables than before.

These ~natural elements~ is just the naturalism fallacy being used as a marketing ploy. These whales don't understand this "natural life." You might as well be plucking them out and throwing them on a different planet.

Now, if you haven't worked on and around the ocean before, let me shed some light as someone who had to take a boat out to the Pacific Ocean to work with dolphins every day.

The ocean doesn't take kindly to man-made structures.

It will wear things down, ocean winds will rip your pontoons out and shred them, storm surges don't care about the weighted blocks you put down to stop your net lifting out. The animals will need to be fed in hurricane force winds that pull you off your feet. The net will need to be checked by divers and maintained no matter the season.

Your animals will have to fight daily with currents and tides that tug them around - sometimes those tides can pull them into nets. Wild marine life will harass them for their fish and naive animals will spook and shy away from coral and fish and anything that they haven't seen before (so good luck getting stationing for feeding when there's a weird looking fish around). You have to scoop out trash, cigarette butts and plastic bags and hope to whatever god you have that your retrieval training is enough to stop your animals from eating them. Your animals will very likely eat leaves, sticks, pebbles, anything they can get their mouths on.

(Since the sanctuary doesn't like training, I wonder if they'd even train a retrieval behaviour since it's "unnatural".)

A sea sanctuary is just captivity with a fun little animal rights activist spin on it. It is still captivity, no matter how big you make it. Wikie has been in human care for over 20 years. She has adapted to her current environment and throwing her into a bay pen is going to be stressful for her. She won't know anything about this new environment and there will be only a flood of new stimuli with nowhere to retreat from it.

The beluga Little Grey got stomach ulcers within only a few days of being out in the smaller acclimation bay pens. Little Grey and Little White have only been in human care for a bit over 5 years and they are struggling, even with the chance to decompress in their indoor pool.

Why are we planning this? What is this serving? We have no evidence that a sea pen is an inherently better housing situation for cetaceans.

We started with sea pens when orcas were first being captured! And orcas died there too.

Namu was one of the first captured killer whales and he died in a sea pen. The sea pen doesn't magically fix welfare issues caused by poor management.

"But that wasn't a REAL sanctuary!"

Okay then if sea pens are so inherently enriching and fix all welfare issues, why was Keiko logging for hours in his bay pen? Why did he become overweight and sluggish and sexually fixated on a giant red ball until someone who actually knew what they were doing started a proper training plan for him?

Why did Nami die with 180 lbs of stones in her stomach that she had ingested while living in a sea pen? Aren't sea pens so inherently enriching and stimulating that they don't need enrichment or training sessions? As Lori Marino put it in a bizarre webinar last year: "they'll be enriched by the flora and fauna; they won't need trainer relationships."

Anyway stop falling for these scammers and advocate for actual animal welfare that has science to back it up.

Odo wasn't sure how exactly he had ended up in this situation, but at the moment he was sitting at a table in Quarks with the Chief, Doctor Bashir and Commander Worf. Actually, he had only intended to make his usual rounds through the establishment, but the Chief and Bashir had successfully talked him down to join them.

From the look on his face, Worf didn't seem to feel any different.

"So, Commander? How are you going to spend the holidays?"

O'Brien glanced over at the Klingon, who looked even a little grimmer than usual. "I'm going to visit my parents on Earth. So far I had been able to avoid that tradition, however, I'm afraid it didn't work out this time." Bashir and O'Brien grinned at each other before the latter took a sip from his tankard.

"But Worf, Christmas is a time for fellowship, family and love. You must be looking forward to seeing your parents again, right?" Bashir grinned at Worf and Odo could see the man's jaw working.

"I never said I wasn't looking forward to it. I merely think the traditions are ridiculous. Santa Claus, the presents. A fairy tale for children, nothing more."

"Don't say that too loud or Molly will hear you," O'Brien returned, sighing. "She's gone insane lately. That's all she talks about, and she's driving me and Keiko right crazy."

Bashir laughed. "So I guess you're going to stay here?" O'Brien nodded and raised his eyebrow. "And you?"

"Also. I promised Garak I'd teach him some traditions this year. He thinks it's absolutely ridiculous, but it's worth a try."

" How about you, Constable?"  Odo looked up at the question and turned towards the doctor.

"Are you going to celebrate the holidays?"

When Odo did not answer, Bashir suddenly blushed. "Oh, I'm sorry. You probably don't even know what exactly we are talking about, right?"

O'Brien chocked on his drink and started coughing. "Julian!"

"What?! Odo basically 'grew up' on Bajor. They do not celebrate Christmas here!"

Slowly the three men turned to look at Odo, who grew more uncomfortable with every passing second.

"Of course I know what Christams is. I don't live under a rock" he growled before standing up abruptly. "If you gentlemen would excuse me now? I have a job to do!"

They couldn't really help but twist their lips into a smile when they heard the familiar hiss of doors announcing the arrival of their partner.

They lifted their head from their book just in time to see the doors close behind the changeling.

"Hey," they smiled and reached out to him. "How was your day?"

Odo came over to them and took their hand in his as he settled down, however he seemed lost in thought. "The usual."

Already used to his short answers, they smiled. "Oh, yeah? Well, you were gone longer today for that. Did you have to fill out any reports that were left behind?"

He snorted lightly. "I don't leave anything undone. My work routine is efficient enough to avoid such things." Slightly he rolled his eyes, however they knew he wasn't serious. "When I did my last round in Quark's bar, I was stopped by Doctor Bashir and Chief O'Brien. I tried to talk my way out of it, but it seemed impossible after they convinced Commander Worf.

"Wow," they said, straightening up so they could turn their body to face him.

"Julian and Miles have accomplished what I had always wanted to accomplish with you."

"Talking to me? We do that a lot."

They laughed. "No. Taking you out for a drink at Quark's."

Odo wrinkled his nose, though they could see the corners of his mouth twitch in a desperate attempt not to give in to a smile.

"Perhaps you'll be reassured to hear that I haven't taken a sip myself."

"You hardly ever drink."

"Then you should begin to realise that your great goal will probably never be fulfilled."

A laugh escaped them and Odo felt deep satisfaction in having made his partner laugh. He leaned back as they turned their backs to lean against him.

For some time they sat side by side in silence. As they went back to their book, Odo was perfectly content to rest his chin on their head and close his eyes.

In his mind, however, a question floated around that he did not want to banish.

"Who is Santa?"

They were mid-sentence when he asked his question, however, they stopped abruptly when Odo's question reached their hearing.

"Huh?"

" Santa Claus." They felt Odo shifting back and forth uncomfortably beneath them.

"Chief O'Brien mentioned in our conversation that Molly would not be happy to hear Worf talk about Santa Claus being a ridiculous children's fairy tale."

They sat up straight so they could look him in the face. For a moment they regarded him and with each passing second they realised that it made Odo incredibly uncomfortable not to have that bit of information and their faces softened.

They knew how discomforting it could be for the changeling not to know certain information, especially when it was natural or taken for granted by everyone else.

But the fact that he had confided in them instead of asking the computer warmed their hearts.

"That's what Santa Claus is, technically. A child's fairy tale, a made-up fantasy figure who is the symbol of Christmas."

"But what is his purpose? His function?"

They put the book aside. Probably they wouldn't get very much reading done in the near future.

"I'm not too familiar with the history behind all of it. Its origins are in Europe, with a man, a saint called Nicholas. St Nicholas, parents told their children, judges children's behaviour over the year and depending on how well they have behaved, on one day , usually the sixth of December, he brings them rewards such as small gifts, sweets or fruit, or a rod with which to punish the 'bad' children."

Odo's eyes widened. "He hurts children?"

"No! No he doesn't," they laughed. "That's what they used to tell the children, and in the very early days the children might have really been beaten, but definitely not today. Today the kids mostly just get little presents and stuff, at least in the regions where they still celebrate." Odo nodded slowly, understanding.

"And Santa Claus..."

"Is the American and, unfortunately, more famous version of him, even outside of America. He's usually depicted as an old man with white hair and a white beard wearing a red coat, red trousers and a red pointed hat, flying around the world in his flying sleigh pulled by reindeer.

Depending on the region, parents tell their children that Santa Claus comes to the house on Christmas Eve or during the night and brings the children presents, which they are allowed to open either on Christmas Eve, the twenty-fourth of December, or the morning after. As a thank you they leave him a glass of milk and biscuits, at least in America.

In England, I think they leave a glass of sherry outside. He then eats and drinks these things in the house. The gifts are probably the reason he is so popular. Although they still say that he judges their behaviour, it is hardly relevant to the number of gifts.

If you walk around anywhere on Earth at Christmas time, you can see him virtually everywhere."

They looked over at Odo, who looked plainly horrified.

"So, just to be clear," he began, looking at them from wide-open eyes. "Parents tell their kids they're being judged and stalked all year by an old man who breaks into their house at the end of the year and leaves stuff there that no one knows what's in it, which is a big security issue by the way. Much more, the children have to make sacrifices to him, in the form of alcohol and the parents make them believe that he drinks this glass of alcohol in every house and then manoeuvres a flying sleigh?"

They frowned. "I never thought about it that way, but you could put it that way, yes."

Odo only looked more disturbed than before and rose to leave with slow steps. A laugh escaped them, so loud that they almost missed him shaking his head and saying "humans".

the way this vd is structured is so

the voice drama starts with kotoko apologizing for not being able to attack amane on time, that clearly made es pissed off. they started asking why did she do that, they were disgusted by her actions as they never asked her to do such thing. kotoko was confused on why they weren't happy with what she did. and then she came to the conclusion that es sees the prisoners as family and friends, even though its against the rules. they were not a perfect warden, how could they even try to be perfect?? They're literally emotionally unstable AND 15!! they're still growing !! then she starts throwing insults and actual facts of how they're imperfect.

es has a problem with being degraded of their self worth (ofcourse), hearing kotoko tell them about their hypocriticalness, the harsh yet truthful words, they had enough of it. yes her accusations are true, but they couldn't accept hearing that from her. so they acted by instinct and hit her face. and many people saw that as very hypocritical, sure they were using violence against prisoners and abusing their power, but what do you expect atp, they're a teenager that's given all the power to do anything, obv most would abuse it. continuing. kotoko was shocked that they; a weakling hit their only savior, so she started laughing and cursing out their whole existence. and, they couldn't mentally and emotionally handle it so they brokedown into a sobbing mess (just like keiko...). with es resembling just like keiko, kotokos first instinct was to comfort/hug them. es was pretty uncomfortable with what she's doing, but they were in a helpless state so they accepted it either way. it was a very stiff hug, it was warm. but ofcourse, after the warmth comes coldness. It was no longer a nice hug, it wasn't at the start anyways. so, they tries to force themselves out of the hug, although they hurt themselves in the process, and then kotoko calls them not sane (insane). and then she starts giving voice on how much she weaklings huge ego and that she's the strong one. "i acknowledge it. you're the strong one, and we're weak. you're right. but that's how we are.", the use of 'we' here can be interpret as:

a. we is supposed to be us, the viewers.

b. we is supposed to be the 'weaklings' as a whole group.

it might be a mix of a and b together because, we, the viewers can count as the weaklings too.

the use of we being us the viewers who are weaklings can also be seen in another line, "carry on the belief that your actions can change this world! if you only brag about it from afar, the world will just continue to rot no matter how many of you are there!" kotoko is basically exposing us, the viewers. "if you only brag about it from afar"-> we vote for their verdict from afar, we are protected by a screen. "the world will just continue to rot-"-> the verdicts we give out means nothing, it sometimes wont change the persons mind set, heck it can even make them worse! take amane as an example. "-no matter how many of you are there!"-> 'how many of you are there', kotoko knows that there is more than one person voting (it isn't even es that's voting, es is supposed to be the vessel for the viewers).

Speaking of the casting of UsaMamo, let's actually talk about the live-action cast!

Reason 7: The cast!

If you become a fan of the series, despite the show approaching its 20th anniversary and sadly not being greenlit for more than one season, your joy DOES NOT end there.

The love the Senshi cast have for the show and for each other is ABSOLUTELY legendary. If one dabs into Japanese entertainment news even for just a little bit, then it's pretty impossible for them to forget this show existed because it gets brought up yearly, especially because Rei's actress Kitagawa Keiko' is 's career took flight and became insanely famous in Japan's acting industry a few years after the live-action.

Cast Reunions/Gatherings

Senshi Reunion "戦士会" A well-known term coined for the live-action 5 Senshi gathering. As Ayaka said, it includes birthday parties, Bonenkai and Shinenkai, engagement parties, and more!

My record of their gatherings dates as far back as 2006, and that's NOT counting the times when any of these ladies meet up in pairs or smaller pods and post about them on their social media and then practically. yell into the writing that they want all five of them to meet up soon. lol For a more "structured" Senshi reunion, usually they manage to get at least four of them together, if not all 5, due to work scheduling clashes.

At Keiko (Mars)'s wedding ceremony, the Senshi cast also all sang the show's insert song Friend together. :')

The girls have so much fun together, they are also known for taking blurry photos because they laugh themselves silly. (Adorable!)

PGSM 10th Anniversary Cast & Crew Celebration (2014) *Logistics of the event organization and individual's work schedule delayed them from actually celebrating in 2013 October.

2016 Super Moon Sighting (Cast & Crew Gathering)

The Senshi-exclusive reunion (2015) The gang claimed all the news of the Senshi reunion was making them jealous and feel left out, so they chose to have their own gathering without the Senshi. For a while that led to a hilarious back and forth between them and the Senshi on Twitter about making it a regular thing and maybe they'll invite a Senshi one at a time for further gatherings. lol

Here is hoping we get a 20th anniversary celebration cast and crew gathering. If the 10th anniversary celebration was anything to go by, the event might not necessarily happen right on the dot of the anniversary. Still, if not the day-of, this weekend, or this coming weekend will still be a key period for live-action fans to monitor the casts social media and blog accounts for any celebratory posts!

Almost exclusively pajamas. Beverly is even wearing a robe half the time, and don’t get me started on Troi. Guinan is debatable, but I’m sticking with pajamas. Granted, the late 80s/early 90/ were pretty pajama-centric iirc

Deep Space 9

Starfleet and Bajoran uniforms on the station? Pajamas. Sisko can’t wiggle down the stairs in upholstery

Jake-o? Pajamas

Quark? Upholstery, and every swatch and pattern he could get his silver-tipped fingers on

Same after the uniform switch, but now Jake-o is feeling fancy and therefore sometimes dabbles in upholstery

Quark and fam? Upholstery all day every day (until Nog abandons love and latinum for pajamas)
