Krang Will Rise
I have a couple theories, regarding the Krang.
There is such little evidence for it, that I don’t even think there’s evidence against it. But hear me out.
I think only Krang prime can abolish mystics. It’s not an ability tied to every Krang, only to him.
Thé Krang value strength above all else, putting no remorse into losing those deemed weak. As such, wouldn’t that make Krang Prime, their leader, the strongest? And what better way to deem yourself the strongest than carrying a unique ability that takes away your enemies greatest potential threat.
Another reason: it seems there are three types of krang. The biotech, the warrior, and the interrogator. I’m not sure how much they overlap, but I do think they carry specialities. Given krang brother is most often asked to- spread their krangness. He is responsible for krangification, domain expansion, and manipulating the technology they have (Nevermind how all these abilities make him the perfect match for Donnie)(also think Krang Brother is mute). Krang sister is the most skilled and best fighter. I’m sure she outclasses the boys in that regard. I’d go as far to say she’s second in command, leading the charge while brother krang stays behind (her role as commander matches as Commander O’Niels opposite in war, hence their quarrel). Leaving Krang Prime, who has the ability to dig into a persons mind, manipulate their captives, control the hive mind, and abolish mystic powers. Perhaps rare amongst Krang, this makes them the perfect leader (do I even need to explain why he’s Leo’s main antagonist, his opposite in every way?).
I mentioned how krang brother is likely responsible for krangification, which leads me to a second point. Clearly, from the start of the invasion to the end in the bad timeline, the krangs numbers increased 100 fold. From 3 lone survivors to hundreds if not more. Which has led me to wonder how krang are created. I have two theories: 1) in the bad timeline, the krang in the prison dimension didn’t die. Meaning that when Leo grabbed the key in the movie, and altered time, the resulting explosion caused the krang to be wiped out. 2) the probably more likely one- they repopulated.
Thé krang are clearly parasitic creatures. Meaning their reproduction is likely from a source, that source being humans. “Recreating this world in the image of krang.” Krang possession is simple, and any krang can do it, latch a bit of themselves to a human and start the battle of wills. Krang dogs are amother easier way to make more, a quick process that mangles the hosts body. We see this happen with the foot clan. But if you want powerful krang, with no chance to turn on you, and to truly become one with krang, you transform them.
Raph was found in a bubble. In a slimy krang cocoon stuck to the ceiling and filled with glowing yellow goop. He was going to be turned, transformed into Krang. And he was going to be powerful, his source material being stronger than most. He was- until the process was interrupted. Notice how the krangification didn’t come from the outside, it wasn’t attached, it was growing inside him. And, unlike the other krangified peoples we saw, his eye turned purple. It wasn’t just covered in hoop with the yellow hive mind eye, it was purple. Let it be a testament to Raphs inner strength cause he very well may have accomplished a feat deemed impossible to overcome. The process wasn’t supposed to be reversible, he wasn’t supposed to be able to break free, he was krang now. Krang Prime could feel his struggle, sense his resistance, and hear his thoughts as the turtle fought it off.
Once you turned, there was no going back. You were krang. Your old life didn’t matter. Your old friends didn’t matter. You had a new family. A new purpose to fulfill. New powers to explore. And given treasures for the hunt. The mark of a krang and a fucking massive piece of armor. This way of reproduction was useful when hunting new prey, as their knowledge of the species past through, truly allowing them to know their enemies and conquer planets. Krang can never die.
Then again. I could be wrong.

So…do you guys think the Kraang have their own language?
Cause when they came out of the portal they were speaking English, but I’m assuming that’s not their native language.
They’re invaders who have conquered many planets so they probably have something that allows them to instantly learn the language of any planet they come in contact with. They certainly wouldn’t bother to learn it the way you and me do, they’d consider it beneath them to put so much time and energy into studying the language of the species they’re gonna conquer and wipe out.
Actually, considering they’re a hive mind and Brother Kraang can invade the minds and memories of people, that’s probably how they instantly learn any language. (Wow they must know a ton of languages)
Anyway back to if the Kraang have an actual language themselves.
On one hand, they are a hive mind and may not have a need for one. They all can just think it to one another. Perhaps talking is something they’ve began doing when they began conquering planets.
On the other hand, considering their superiority complex that might be out of character for them. Why would they begin talking to one another rather than mind link one another just because their prey do? So it might make more sense if they’ve always talked to one another because they’ve always had a language.
Ahhhh this is so interesting in the different directions it could be!
Personally I think they do have their own language. Maybe it’s similar to the screech sound Prime made when canceling the Hamato’s mystic energy.
I’m really curious on what different people think! :0

No Rest For The Weary
Chapter 14 - fight in the lair
-
Very rarely in my life am i able to visualize text very well. i think that's a lot of the reason i got into drawing as a kid, because i couldn't see the things i read. i drew their descriptions until it made sense to me (rip my school books).
NRFTW does what very few texts have been able to do - chapter 14 is so clearly established in my head, i can see every moment in vivid detail.
Soooo i had to draw it out |D
Thank you, @plothooksinc, for writing something i can fully enjoy. i hope you don't mind me taking your brain-child and running with it visually.

You are feeding me rn. I don’t want to be a bother but… More? Please?
You're not bothering me at all. ^ ^
It would take a lot of time and effort, but the others would eventually figure out that Donnie is irreversibly connected to the krang. Trying to separate the connection would only hurt him. If they want to keep their brother they're going to have to keep the krang too. Only keep them somewhere else in the sewer where they don't have to interact with them and Donnie can visit.
Give the Krang their own section of the sewer to stay in as well as a new lab for Donnie to create his more dangerous experiments away from his more fragile family members. It's just going from one lab to another but his brothers are glad he's at least leaving his lab more often. It gives them more chances to give him food and water and force him to sleep.
That, or repurpose the prison dimension. It's made to hold them and it would be easier to keep track of both of them if they're in the same place. Even if Donnie doesn't have the key he has access to krang knowledge and pieces of the technodrome from when it exploded, so he can make his own portal.
He didn't realize it at the time, but the hive mind had him instinctually drawn to the pieces of the technodrome. So it felt like he found one every two steps.
Donnie, still upset about the invasion and family trauma, doesn't like to say Krang. So he comes up with names for them.
Fig for Krang one and Iris for Krang two. Not at all because of eye-related reasons.
The Krang gets skilled at hiding from the government, which enhances Donnie's stealth. It's like a feed loop. Krang gets stealth from Donnie's ninja skills, and adjusting and improving it so it makes Donnie stealthier in return.
Fig would never let himself bend to the will of another, but as the previous leader, he should at least make sure the new one doesn't mess anything up. Not like he constantly looks through krang knowledge to always be ready in case the Purple Prime calls on him, not at all.
While he would never get into Donnie's good graces, Donnie would concede that he is very useful to have around. Not like Donnie could fully cast him out anyways since through the hive mind he had become one of Donnie's. He is now Donnie's subordinate and responsibility.

Okay so I was daydreaming on the bus, per usual, when I finally had an idea for a Kendratello ROTTMNT AU.
Basically, in this AU, Kendra helped Cassandra fight using her tech during the Krang Invasion. And, as the apocalypse was finally coming to an end, Kendra was successfully able to contain Sister Krang.
I like to think Kendra converted her parents basement into her own tech lab which is where she brings Sister Krang to experiment on. Not sure how the AU is gonna go but I'm thinking her plan is basically to beat Donnie by creating Krang tech to outdo him and then eventually use said tech to take over every tech firm in the world.
However, as this is happening, she's slowly getting krangified in the process and being manipulated by Sister Krang. I haven't drawn much for this AU yet (and I don't think I'll write anything for it either because I have too many fanfic series) but I did draw this evolution chart of Kendra getting krangified.

I love your 'Krang Will Rise post'! How secure do you think is the Prison Dimension?
Oh hi, another ask. Im glad people are taking a liking to my post. It makes me very happy.
Blatant terms: probably the most secure prison ever. It was designed to hold the worlds most powerful destructive beings. The Krang were inside with all their technology and species and still couldn’t find a way out so much that almost all of them died in there. They were in there for literally one thousand years, and they couldn’t find one single way out.
I do like to believe the prison dimension wasn’t just accessed, like it didn’t previously exist before those mystic warriors beat the krang the first time. I think they designed it for the purpose of holding the krang. Credit to their power for literally creating a dimension to hold an advanced alien species in.
But since something can’t come from nothing, I think the key they made had a deep connection to the dimension as a sort of access point, if not being the dimension itself. Maybe if April and Splinter had found a way to break the key it would have collided the dimensions, or caused a black hole by the sheer power it possesses.
Considering its massive amounts of mystic energy, Mikey being able to open a portal into it without the use of a key may emphasis the absolute crazy level of natural power he has. Or it’s possible, they (being the Hamato) have a mystic connection to the mystic users who created the key. Given the color matching the four seemed to have resembling our lovable turtles, this may have already been implied in the show.
I mean Karai had to get her incredible mystics from somewhere, and she never explains where she got it from just that she awakened it. Since Shredder himself doesn’t really have mystics, since he’s always getting other peoples, I imagine she got these abilities for her mothers side. Karai and Oroku have different surnames, so it’s possible the Hamato family name Karai inherited was from her mother. Daughter of one of the mystic warriors.

You know. As much as I like the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie the more I realize how much of a wild attempt it was to like bring in people. Because like 90% of what made the Rise series UNIQUE is like stripped from the movie.
Leo is the leader of the team.
Raph is mad and fighting with Leo constantly.
We have a masculine Casey Jones who looks similar to the original Casey Jones hokey mask and everything
Master Splinter is serious and not acting like a man going through a midlife crisis.
April is acting like an investigative journalist and not like someone who pulled off the Seven Deadly Viper's move with master Splinter that one time.
Come to think of it Master Splinter didn't really use any of his normal flaming kick moves I don't think
No yokai. AT ALL.
Krang are the bad guys.
Shredder like armor.
Majority of the Movie turtles have no magic powers.
The whole situation has a very serious tone from start to finish. No real joking aside from Leo who is bringing all the Rise series energy into a movie that is trying to be frank NOT to be the rise series.
Thinking of that I can't help but wonder. Why does this feel like the movie is like it's trying to appeal to people who hated how unique and different the series was from the original turtles?
I mean why couldn't we instead get a movie that had Draxum? Or Mayhem? Or Big Mama invovled? Did anyone even yell "HOT SOUP"?! I don't think they did. Why was Splinter not using any of his Lou Jistu moves on the Krang?! None of this makes sense unless I realize the movie was deliberately trying to hide the parts that non Rise series people would't recognize or understand.
That kinda makes me mad.
Like I've heard people say Leo was being out of character for the rise movie but. I mean. I think Raph was being more out of character. Since when does he attack his brothers with powers? He also struck me as way too orgnaized when I mean this was the man who in the original series freaked out when being left alone for 5 minutes and screwed up a mission to take a picture of a pigeon with a pizza. ALSO WHERE WERE HIS COOL COPY POWERS?! Y'know Leo Mikey and Donnie got to keep their mystic upgrade powers but Raph's shadow clones are MIA when they would have been SO USEFUL in the fight to get the key. In fact even before they all lost their powers it felt like that fight they were holding back. Leo should have been able to just portal the key right into his hand. He's done that stuff before.

The Bishop's Opening Cover WIP
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It took me a ridiculous amount of time to make all of these clean, but I think I’m happy with them. Donnie’s knight is probably my favorite tbh. I like how it turned out slightly robot-looking. And, yeah, I went with the rook for Mikey—it just suits him better than a pawn, especially in Rise.
I ended up with two options for Leo's pawn damage-wise, and while the angst writer part of me is like make him look even worse >:D, I think I'm going with the top one.
I've got the cover almost fully done, but I'm holding it hostage from myself until I finish Ch. 10 of TGP lol

I just noticed that yeah, Leo is getting Donnatellofied, to the point his way of texting and Dons is the same.
I was okay with that cuz “there is a turn off button” and “everything would be fine, maybe, there is a good end to this”
And then you post that sketch where Leo has pink eyes.
I just.

I can’t convey it with words, but I hope my kitty cat face can. Her name is Mary btw, she was hissing at her sister after she went to the Vet and came back smelling like a vet.

DUUUUDE I just saw your Purple Prime au post and???? Can I please see more?
Of course! ^ ^
Donnie looking for the krang sister because he doesn't trust the government to be able to hold her. He sees the government experimenting on her and feels rage. He convinces himself it's because they could just as easily do that to him or his brothers. Donnie chooses to ignore the fact he compared the krang sister to family.
So he breaks her out and hides her away in a specially-made container in an old abandoned building. She's still trapped and unable to hurt anyone and also no longer in any danger. However, he is shocked when she gives him words of honest gratitude for saving her and seems to almost bow before him. He still refuses to let her out but builds her a robotic eye to replace the one April destroyed. She practically preens and the gift.
I like to imagine Raph picking up bits and pieces of the Krang communicating with Donnie because of leftover infection from being taken over. Raph doesn't know they're talking to Donnie but gets glimpses of the knowledge that there's a new leader. Something or someone was able to take control of the Krang. What kind of monster would be able to do something like that? How long before they have to fight something worse?
One time Mikey followed Donnie and saw where he was keeping the sister Krang. Leo still healing and Raph not letting a flighty Leo alone so he can try to run off and get more injured. Mikey sees the krang sister nearly melt into Donnie's hands as he feels around the eye injury to make sure everything is connected. Watching her pout as he pulls away to start testing.
Donnie panicking because one of his who is weaker and still recovering from an injury is getting attacked. He accidentally releases the same roar that stopped their powers in the movie before realizing it's just Mikey. Now the krang is no longer wrapped in Mikey's weapon, Mikey no longer has his powers, and Donnie might not even be Donnie anymore. Mikey panics and runs. Ignoring 'Donnie' calling after him.
Meanwhile, Raph is hearing through the hive mind that the orange one found the sister and new leader. Mikey's facing them alone!? Then Raph feels Mikey's powers being sealed away.
