a big little post
heya!
six months. jesus, that's a while. at least, a while to not have lost focus. and i'm still kicking! sooo~, as a little thanks for sticking around with my silly little story, there's a few things i want to share! :3
1) splinters of madness is not just one story :3c
if you've been paying attention recently, you may have noticed a slight change on ao3 where i added splinters to a series. that's because there's a lot more stories i want to tell that both add and contrast to what's going on in the main story. for example, a little more backstory on fyodor and nikolai's friendship (or complication, depending on how you want to look at it), a darkest timeline two-shot, and nikolai's play rehearsals! perhaps, we can get to know chuuya's brother a little better before he passes from his point of view!
these are definitely not all of the additional content im planning, but it's some that you can look forward to!
2) things that were supposed to happen... and then, uh, didn't
i tend to complain quite a bit about things going awry when im writing splinters (well, not complain, but ykw i mean), and there's a few things that just, was planned and then the characters went "lmao, fuck you". so! here's a few of them!

dazai was in fact supposed to go to the corn maze with fyolai and sigma, but for a variety of reasons, it just didn't happen. unseen and unsaid, sigma also didn't go to the corn maze! you can imagine that nikolai was a lot nicer about it to them than he was to dazai, lmao

Dazai drags Chuuya into a hug, getting a surprised yelp out of him. “After all, we’re friends, and friends listen to each other.”
Chuuya’s stiff for a few seconds before he melts into the hug, and his arms wrap around Dazai, too.
“Right… friends.”
His fingers stray into Dazai’s hair, his fingers tangling around the locks, and Dazai gives a surprised gasp as Chuuya yanks at it. “But… what if I want to be more than friends?” he whispers into his ear, his breath hot against it.
“Wh-what?”
Dazai shudders and tilts his head up as a wet tongue slides up his neck, finishing its trail with a kiss. “You heard me, Dazai Osamu. What if I want to… date you?”
He can’t help but laugh nervously at that. “D-date me? Chuuya needs higher expectations—”
Chuuya pulls him out of the hug into a dip, Dazai’s hands frantically moving to clutch on for security. Chuuya smirks down at him. “What if I want to make you mine?”
“Chuuya, I—”
“What if I want… to kiss you?”
Dazai gasps, his face red and heated. “Ch-Chuuya…”
Chuuya grins as he lowers closer and closer to Dazai’s lips, his lashes fluttering as his eyes become half-lidded. Dazai feels himself closing his own eyes, his lips pursing for the kiss…
And when his eyes open again, it’s to the ceiling of his room, his sleep mask having slipped off at some point in the night.
“Jesus fucking christ.”
With a grumble, Dazai flips to his side, kicking off the remnants of his blankets—most of them had gotten kicked around anyways during his sleep—and lays there, gazing at his desk, where two books sit. One, of course, is the one he puts most of his deepest thoughts in, sitting opened with the bookmark in, his pen and monocle lying next to it. The other is Atsushi’s weird white novel, which—
“Ah, shit…” he groans, pushing his face into the mattress.
Atsushi was supposed to pick up his book yesterday. But Dazai wasn’t home, because he decided to have the dinner-from-hell with his not-crush and his not-crush’s father. So, Atsushi wasn’t able to get it despite having asked for it.
Am I the worst friend ever or what?
I should go over to my desk and hit my head as hard as I can into the corner.
Fuck!
Dazai slowly slides out of his bed onto the floor, landing on top of various clothes, including… including Kunikida’s green sweatshirt. He awkwardly manipulates it out from underneath him before holding it up above him, sighing as he gazes at it.
“Katai probably would like you now,” he murmurs, running his fingers over the cuffs in circular motions. The fabric feels soft, smooth from age under the pads of his thumbs, and Dazai knows if he smelled it, it would still have that whiff of Kunikida’s cologne and deodorant on it. And the thing is, maybe he should give it to Kunikida. Or give it directly to Katai.
But he doesn’t want to. He “stole” it from Kunikida, therefore, it’s his. And it’s not like Kunikida has asked for it back. Though, perhaps he doesn’t remember that Dazai has it. But that’s not the point.
Yeah, Kunikida’s not getting this back, and Katai isn’t getting it, either. It’s Dazai’s, whether Kunikida knows it or not.
He glances towards his desk once more, trying to ignore thoughts of… unpleasant thoughts—
Hit your head. Impale. Smash it into the corner. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it.
For fuck’s sake.
I want to write.

Kill yourself.
“I am losing my mind.” With a frustrated hiss, Dazai pushes himself to his feet, and tiredly stumbles towards his desk, his hand gripping the corner tightly so he can’t see it anymore. He shoves himself past it, then flops into the seat, picking up the pen, and starting a new entry.
Dear Diary,
October 12, 1989
I sure love thinking about killing myself. It’s my favorite.
Anyways, had a dream about Chuuya. Wonderful. I dreamed that last night, instead of us just saying goodbye, he kissed me.
He stops writing for a second, sighing as he presses his fingers sadly to his lips.
Well, almost. He almost kissed me. He was so fucking close. We almost kissed. But it’s not romantic, of course. I think about kissing my friends all the time.
Hell, I’ve thought about kissing Kunikida. Thinking about Chuuya like this isn’t any different. This isn’t romantic. I am not in denial.
Dazai smacks his head into his diary, groaning. “Fuuuck.”
Not in denial. Nope. Not in denial. I am so not in denial. Why would I be in denial? Boys kissing boys—it doesn’t have to be romantic! No! And it’s not because I think I’m not gay—I am, but not for them! It’s different! It’s totally different!

💀: If you had to choose one major character to die, who would you choose?
Just kidding I take it back, I'm not thanking you because this is a HARD QUESTION.
This is kinda wild because it's not just removing one of the characters, it's having them die. So then there's also the question of like, how that would impact the events that followed, how it would impact each of the characters individually, etc. And I think I want to answer this question from a story perspective, rather than a "who would I want to remove" perspective.
I don't think I'd want it to be a season 3+ newbie, because I feel like they mostly don't get established enough for it to really have a proper impact; I feel like it would seem almost cheap? Idk how to explain it properly, but I guess I just think it would be glossed over, and I think if you're killing off a major character then it shouldn't be glossed over.
So that leaves us with the main S1+2 cast. I thought this would be harder but actually... I think I'm immediately wanting to say Sam? He's really well loved by everyone, he has a lot of close bonds; with the football team, with Kurt and Finn from living with them, with Blaine and Tina in their senior year together, his relationship with Mercedes. The whole Glee club has rallied around him in the past when he was homeless, he moved in with Kurt and Finn so he could go back to school with his friends. He's popular but still so kind and I think that him dying would really shake everyone – not that I want him gone, but I think that his death could have really interesting consequences for everyone involved.
Mercedes would be crushed; and depending on where they were in their relationship with each other, she could have some really complicated feelings (were they on a break and she thinks he died not knowing she loves him?). Blaine loses his best friend, and I think Blaine already has some issues around losing people, so ooooooohhh boy he would be an absolute mess. Everyone would have some shit to deal with but I do think those two would be the most impacted by it.
I feel like this was not the direction this question was meant to take... oops?

i searched real hard for this ask i sent mist a while back (almost a year ago! that's wild) that did include some furtana + affection content but it's kind of a short version from before i fleshed things out more. gonna go in more detail here bc i love them and i'll add some thoughts about the other girls potentially
this is probably gonna get kinda long so i'll just put in a cut rn
physical touch
honestly this is how i got started on those furtana drawings lmao i was practicing drawing kisses bc those are hard and then it went from one finntana forehead kiss to hugs for the whole trio. anyway finn is super affectionate - hugs, kisses, awkwardly patting people's shoulders/back, unnecessarily complicated handshakes, he does it all. ofc he's mindful of people's boundaries, and he does struggle a bit with the fact that santana and kurt are less affectionate than he is, but he's just. a big fan of physical affection. and santana has grown up with him so he's one of the few select people she allows lots of affection from. i reckon there was a time in like,,, middle school? where santana kinda started dodging hugs and stuff (mainly bc she realised people read it as romantic and that was just super confusing for her), and finn immediately jumped to the conclusion that she hated him, and then carole had to sit down with him and explain that ofc santana didn't hate him, she literally spent most of her free time with him, etc etc. but in general santana does think that finn gives the best hugs ever and she will almost never pass on a hug from him
the other super affectionate person is britt :) between the britt celebrating drawings and this dumb butt slap thing and britt laying on santana here, and the aforementioned kisses drawings, she really doesn't shy away from touching people. she is also super mindful of people's boundaries, that's a given, but she just touches people a lot when she's in a good mood. which is pretty often. i reckon sugar is very similar in that aspect, so generally being around britt and sug means a lot of hugs and grabbing each other's arms and butt slaps and stuff. they're very enthusiastic lol
words of affirmation
santana is really good at reading people. when the people she really cares about are feeling down, she can get a relatively good idea of why they're upset and sure, she doesn't do pep talks but she motivates them in her own blunt way. usually in private, so that she can deny it ever happened. i'm thinking of santana's lil talk with rachel in... opening night, i think? it's a lot more likely to happen with people like furt and the squad, but she learns to do it for any of her teammates, even if she's not close to them. on a similar note, finn and kurt know her well enough to notice when her insecurities are taking over, and they're there to talk her through it whenever she needs them.
i think this would also be a strong one for tina? i will admit rn that i haven't fleshed out her character as much yet but just in general she's a sweetheart and she doesn't hesitate to compliment people and hype them up. could that sometimes come off as fake? maybe, but it's almost always genuine and people realise that once they get to know her better :)
quality time
this is a big one for,,, pretty much all of them, really. especially for furtana. they grew up together, which means that they spent a lot of time together, and it evolved into them enjoying a variety of lil activities they could do as a group or in pairs like cooking/baking, tv/video games, etc. i've put a lot of thought into that but that's for a separate post. i think it's also santana's main platonic love language, especially for the boys, bc she isn't always comfy with physical affection and outright complimenting them? she just loves to spend time with them, yknow? ofc it gets hard with the traveling and the distance when one of them lives further away, but they do whatever they can to make things work. holidays/bdays together become that much more meaningful
it also fits the squad as a whole. stuff like game nights, karaoke bar, getting lunch/dinner together, etc. in theory it's stuff the whole team should be doing as bonding activities, but i don't have the brain power to think of such a large group rn and the squad hangs out a lot in general. considering the girls all have the same schedule it's pretty easy for them.
acts of service
this is probably the most common one in the kurtana household,,, i think that both of them having exhausting schedules (in different ways ofc) means they end up doing their best to make each other's lives easier? like santana tends to cook more often bc she has more free time during the day, kurt is used to finding santana asleep on the couch in the middle of the night and throws a blanket on her, whoever is up first makes a large batch of coffee for them to share. they don't really talk about it but the little things mean a lot to them, especially since it they were both so reluctant to befriend each other in the first place.
it's also one quinn really appreciates! i don't wanna talk about it in detail but the girl is super exhausted 24/7 so the squad helping her out means more than she can really express
gift giving
this is very much a kurt thing. also kind of a kurtana thing bc santana does her best to remember what kurt expresses interest in so that she can get it as a bday/holiday present, but yeah kurt loves gifts. i think what i wrote in the ask to mist about kurt kinda sums things up nicely so idk if there really is anything to add there other than that i think finntana compete to give each other/kurt the best christmas present each year and they act like they have evil little schemes when it's literally just,,, 'u said u liked that thing months ago and you've probably forgotten by now but i haven't and im getting it for u. ohoho ur gonna be so shocked' gosh they're clowns and i love them

Okay honestlyyy I don't see how people can claim to love like Quinn or Santana and yet claim to hate Kitty like ??? Kitty is literally their daughter lmao. Most of her insults make me cringe (but it's the same for all cheerios ig) but she's still super funny like idk Becca's line delivery and facial expressions are just top tier so she's still fun to watch
But I also love Becca's more serious acting like she can make me feel so much for Kitty, especially in eps that don't really have much else going for them lmao. Like The Hurt Locker p2 and Previously Unaired Christmas. Like idk she can just steal the show with one well placed emotional scene and I'm here for it!
Also like we don't get to know a lot about her so I love coming up with hcs for her family life and things like that. It's fun to speculate on her life and figure out why she's Like That asfjdslk
And it's just nice to see her growth like how she starts out as this mean conniving little bitch who's out to ruin everyone's lives to genuinely caring about and making connections with the other s4 newbies and making amends for how she acted and trying to do and be better. And we get to see how much the club meant to her bc we see how hurt she was in s6 bc of it breaking up the way it did
And I like her relationships with the older characters even if they're mostly in my mind shh like Kurt and Blaine and Rachel and especially Tina lmao. I'm Titty shipper number one idk why I like them so much but they're like my top 5 fave ships lmao
Anyway yeah I just really love Kitty and I think she's wonderful and she's like my seventh favorite character tbh so like good for her. So there's some gushing for you lmao you invited this so xx

I know right that's what I've been saying, she's a Quinntana love child! I hate those surface level takes where she's Quinn 2.0 cause like hell she is, if anything she's more like Santana.
And just Becca Tobin,,, god, this woman does not get enough for her work on Glee. She carried. Her line delivery was the definition of elevating the source material. The way she did the first scene of Swan Song, being a scared little girl instead of doubling down on her evil ways or getting defensive. Like, I get why people can't get over the ED mess but there's so much more to her and even in these early episode Becca carried. "In French it means kill women"??? I'm in love with her.
And you're so right her dramatic acting was something to behold too. She grounded the entirety of PUC with her storyline and reading into Kitty lines is super fascinating but also heartbreaking. I mean, "more like Mary Magdalene"? God, why is she so good. And she does have so much growth even just in the second half of s4 where she slowly integrates into the team until she takes a much bigger role in s5 and that's why it's so interesting to have her back in s6 where her trust was shattered. And to watch her interact with Rachel! A really underrated dynamic. Kitty and Rachel are one of my favourite friendships that could have been. Of course they were, a bit, but it wasn't enough. Kitty is genuinely heartbroken about being left behind and who would have thought that at the beginning of s4.
She contains such multitudes, and yes I'm digging with a shovel to get there but the little crumbs connect so well to make her a compelling character. Intrigued by your HCs for her please go on! I don't HC that much, I think, I just wildly extrapolate from what we get in canon. But I'm so interested because there's so much ground to cover with her. For example, religion starts out as this satire thing with her, like haha she's ultra conservative and close-minded, but it actually seems like she is genuinely deeply religious? Not in the Quinn way where it felt more like external pressure and something she had a complicated relationship with. Kitty is genuinely bummed about the Nativity thing and doesn't feel worthy of playing the Virgin Mary, That's interesting stuff. And when she reaches out to Ryder, even though it's never brought up again it's such an insight into her character.
I loove Kitty gushing by all means please go on, and spread the Kittina agenda too! I never really considered it so I'd love to hear more. All in all people wake up and stop sleeping on Kitty.

As far as preferences go boi wouldn’t mind a little lot of help from a feeder, though usually he ends up in more self-stuffing scenarios cuz he’s the reluctant/accidental feedee type, and the number of feeders he’s comfortable around can probably be counted on one hand. That said, technically also counts as help if the feeder provides some rubs and other such things after the fact, ye~?
Granted he’d probably not openly admit to such desires unless pressed or flustered, so there’s a little tact involved when it comes to a feeder participating. He kinda needs a pushy/dom feeder to get that side of things to work lol

I can't believe Mia Ikumi passed so young and right before the new show. I hope her loved ones can rest easy knowing she saw the beginning of the revival. Man. Tokyo mew mew was so influential in my life because it introduced me to my first online community -- people I met when I was 9 and am still friends with on Facebook today. I didn't end up fitting in much but I learned a lot being on an active forum that young. I remember begging my dad to buy me Tokyo mew mew DVDs and they were all bootlegs so we had to find the right program to play the files back in like 2005 lmao. And I collected change everywhere I could to buy the OST. I made Tokyo mew mew freewebs pages and just. It introduced me to Tumblr in the end to. Like ,, it brought me online and is ultimately the source of how I've ended up. That sounds stupid but it really is. If I didn't get into Tokyo mew mew I wouldn't have joined that forum full of people my age and mostly older. I wouldn't have been introduced to a lot of anime, and I wouldn't have been on Tumblr so soon. If I didn't join Tumblr so early because of someone on that forum I wouldn't have seen views outside of my catholic republican upbringing and if I wasn't on Tumblr I wouldn't have met Kurt. If I didn't meet Kurt I never would have moved to Oregon. If I didn't move to Oregon I never would have met the love of my life.
It's a little more nuanced and complicated than that of course, but that's really the gist. Tokyo mew mew truly, truly was the source of my life path because of that forum that basically formed my internet literacy.

i’m going to review all of the dgd albums here so that you don’t have to suffer through each individual album because there are a lot.
early demos:
this isn’t on any streaming platforms sadly, but there’s a video on youtube that has their early demos for wisro, including one song that didn’t get onto the ep. they changed the titles of the songs as well, but i really like how their sound changed from these demos to the actual release.
whatever i say is royal ocean:
this is kind of a controversial take, but i personally love wisro. the cover photo is of a painting that jon made, and i think it’s the only time that his art has made it onto a dgd project. LP2 by secret band and self titled by secret band both have his art. this was the first of their projects that i listened to, and i loved seeing how they progressed through the years.
favourite tracks: robot with human hair, pt. 1 and 2, tidal waves, the importance of cocaine.
overall rating: 10/10 >:3
downtown battle mountain:
first album!!! very swag. this is probably my favourite project with jonny craig. personally i like jon’s older vocals, and this album has some of the best vocals for both of them. one of the first songs that i listened to, lemon meringue tie, is on this album as well. it’s also one of the only songs that has drums at the very beginning. with this album, i either love the songs, or don’t really care for them much.
favourite tracks: and i told them i invented times new roman, lemon meringue tie, it’s safe to say you dig the backseat, the backwards pumpkin song, 12 hours 360 miles.
overall rating: 8/10
dance gavin dance:
also called death star or self titled
this album is my favourite. this is the first one with kurt, and this is when the lineup changes start happening. uneasy hearts is my all time favourite of theirs, and every song on this record is amazing. kurt has a very similar vocal style to tilian, and his solo music and gold necklace album are phenomenal as well.
favourite tracks: uneasy hearts weigh the most, alex english, me and zoloft get along just fine, caviar, rock solid, skyhook.
overall rating: 100/10
happiness:
the lineup for this album is complicated. kurt is still the clean vocalist, but jon left for a few years due to lyme disease, college, and his best friend leaving the band as well. any of the unclean vocals are done by guitarist will swan. i didn’t like this album much till recently, but it’s started to grow on me more.
favourite tracks: tree village, nasa, carl barker, happiness, don’t tell dave.
overall rating: 7.5/10
downtown battle mountain ii:
“dance gavin dance babyyyy downtown battle mountain twoooooo”
anyway. here we have: the return of jonny craig!! :,) but more importantly, jon mess is back!!!! this album is okay. same with dbm one, i either really like the songs or don’t. this is the first album that has will rapping (i might be wrong? i can’t remember).
favourite tracks: spooks, pounce bounce, thug city, elder goose, heat seeking ghost of sex
overall rating: 7/10
acceptance speech:
tilian!!!!! finally jonny craig is gone for good lmao. this album is PHENOMENAL. i love it. the instrumentals are probably my favourite part, but the vocals are incredible too. some of the runs that tilian does (especially in doom and gloom) are just pure perfection. this is whenever the albums really start to get their own individual sounds. i love this one sm.
favourite tracks: jesus h. macy, doom & gloom, demo team, death of the robot with human hair, the jiggler.
instant gratification:
this one was also an album that i didn’t enjoy until recently. stream wise, it’s their most popular album. “we own the night” is their most popular song, and it’s on this album. now that i’ve listened to it through a few times, i really like it. there are quite a few parts where the guitar really stands out.
favourite songs: something new, on the run, shark dad, awkward, eagles vs. crows, variation.
overall rating: 9/10
mothership
if i remember correctly (and i might not be), this was the first tilian-era album i heard. i genuinely loved every song on this album, but whenever i heard flossie dickie bounce i was,, confused. i looked up the lyrics immediately to check if i was hearing wrong. no, the chorus is actually “cocaine cringe fest” like 3 times. i hated that song at first, because i was like “dude wtf.” but now i love it. absolutely phenomenal. that song is actually a really good example of how a lot of dgd songs won’t be good for the first few listens, but it clicks after a bit. the podcast that i was listening to today actually talked about that. so yeah!! flossie dickie bounce is,, a song for sure.
favourite songs: young robot, deception, philosopher king, petting zoo justice
overall rating: 10/10
artificial selection:
this album is whenever the lore really gets started. but that’s a post for another day lmao :,) this album has lots of very fancy riffs and it sounds super Swag :) honestly i’m still waiting for some of the songs on this album to click with me. i don’t have many things to say :,) good album. lore swag. yeah :)
favourite songs: son of robot, count bassy, suspended in this disaster, story of my bros, hair song.
overall rating: 8/10
afterburner:
100/10. beautiful. all of the blends of genres. the only critique i have is that tilians accent is so american in calentamiento global, but it’s okay. he’s doing his best :,) also the fact that there’s rap, experimental vocals with jon and tilian, and a bilmuri feature just,,, YES.
favourite songs: prisoner, parody catharsis, born to fail, parallels, night sway, say hi, nothing shameful, into the sunset.

And then he found out the baby wasn't his and yeah, I understand getting pissed off for being lied to about something so serious. But he had absolutely nothing to do with her once he found out the truth. And then he only wanted anything to do with her in s2 bc he had a chance to hook up with her and get her to cheat on Sam at the same time lmao. Quinn literally points out how hurt and upset he was when he knew she cheated, so why is he willing to do the same thing to another guy? And Finn is basically like "cause you're cheating WITH me this time" lol
And it's so funny cause like. When they're grasping at straws in 2009 to come up with positive things to say about Finn (bc we went back in time so Finn isn't the saintlike god of the glee club who can never do anything wrong. not yet) Artie is the only one that can think of a genuinely good thing Finn did. Kurt is like "he let me take off my expensive jacket before standing complicity by while his friends threw me in a dumpster". And Mercedes is like "he COULD'VE called me fat. but he didn't". What a gentleman. And Tina just thinks he's cute. And Rachel wants to have his babies. So... 1/5 can think of an actual good thing to say about him. And honestly they're still trying to push his sainthood status like canonically before the show even ever really started. I hate it

RIGHT OKAY SO. aesthetic is obvs a lot more than just clothes but I'm focusing mostly on fashion here or it just gets too complicated for my poor braincell lmao
I'd say Joel is more biker/classic rock than grunge. maybe just me, and I do get where the connection comes from since's he's practically Kurt Cobain doppelgänger, but he's missing the plaids and knit sweaters I think belong in grunge.
realistically Aleksi is indeed a baby emo, but I'm gonna stretch it a bit and give him casual goth. black clothes with ripped and uneven hems, clasps, studs and other detailing.
Tommi doesn't have an aesthetic (he dresses like your usual Straight White Man), so I'd assign him academia aesthetic. open sweaters, wool jackets, scarves, glasses. blacks and greys and dark navy or dark maroon colors. sexy professor vibe.
Niko gets hip-hop. I'm sorry but the rap hands are permanent and even tho he's grown his hair out, he still wears loose pants and shirts a lot.
Olli is athletic. he likes yoga, and tbh since he ditched his black and white street fashion ways, our boy do be looking a bit like yoga instructor in off-stage photos.
Joonas has a nice balance between glam rock and crust punk. I absolutely adore his current style and the way he mixes things up.

the short answer is it’s complicated
but i’m gonna give you the long answer because i like to hear myself talk
fair warning most of this is kinda negative even if its mostly just me being mad at the writing of her character
there are a lot of things i enjoy about brittany as a character. i think she’s hilarious in the first two seasons (and occasionally she’s pretty funny in the later ones as well), she is an amazing dancer and i love her performances and even if brittana isn’t my favorite ship i still enjoy her relationship with santana a lot. it also doesn’t hurt that she’s incredibly good looking. and have you seen her clothes? she’s a fashion icon
but yeah i do have a lot of problems with her which ultimately all boil down to bad writing lmao
i think my biggest issue is that her character is all over the place. we barely have any backstory on her, she doesn’t seem to have any actual aspirations in life and she never really developed in any way. she barely got to be her own character while she continually got more and more screentime.
and i think thats what i most dislike about the writing of her. i think she either needed to be a background character like she was in season 1 or she needed some actual character development
because if we look at brittany in the beginning of the show and compare her to the version of herself in the finale what actually changed about her? sure she’s married to santana now but it’s not like we really saw that relationship develop from brittanys point of view. we also don’t know how brittany realized that she’s bisexual. and sure maybe she’s known this entire time but seriously having brittany talk about her sexuality would have been really nice
but yeah other than that nothing really changed. she’s basically still the embodiment of the lovable idiot trope and she dances. and i guess she’s also a math genius now but it’s not like the show ever explored that
but still somehow even though she didn’t get any character development her personality changed a lot between season 2 and 3 and not especially in a way i enjoy
i thought that brittanys humor in the later seasons was mostly just mean and not funny. it felt like she oftentimes went out of her way to make her friends feel bad and insecure (like kurt in i am unicorn and blaine in prom-o-saurus) and even if that wasn’t actually her intention it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth
and a lot of her jokes were just blatantly racist and transphobic. and i know that every glee character has said something incredible offensive at one point but with brittany it happened at a frequency that made it pretty impossible for me to look past it
i also didn’t like how brittany was never called out on anything bad she did. she did some truly horrible things like leaking a sex tape without permission and it’s fine? because she taught santana a lesson like that? yeah sorry i don’t think so lmao
and i don’t mind blaming this specific event on the writers but it isn’t even the only time she got away with stuff like this. like she pressured santana into coming out and even outed her multiple times and it’s never addressed in any way
and remember when she was cheating on artie for half a season but it’s fine because he called her stupid and that erases every bad thing she did?
and again every glee character did something bad at some point. but at least other characters at least occasionally got called out for the things they did
but brittany apparently can do no wrong. and i believe is the case because of the weird way the writing infantilized her. which is already weird and honestly kinda gross enough but it gets even worse because at the same time she’s also overly sexualized? i need the writers to stop
i think if the writing of her character was better i would enjoy brittany a lot more. but i am also petty and have decided to not let bad writing ruin female characters for me
so fanon brittany is where it’s at. because here people genuinely appreciate her and don’t just reduce her character to hot dumb cheerleader

At the end of the day they fucked their way into the room but they still obviously contributed extensively.
