Just a personal hc I have of trolls making different insect like noises and how that affects their communication (+ some x reader hcs)

The longer you've spent on Alternia the more you learned about the hell murder planet and it's inhabitants

A thing that you can't believe you only noticed once you got yourself some quads filled was that trolls are a surprisingly vocal species

they're always somehow making some kind of noise to better express themselves

it's so common for them to do so that it even snuck into their speech patters, specially with your more chill friends since you discovered it's considered very informal to do so

Galehk once lent you a book to help you understand it better but to no avail, so you just went back to observing and sometimes asking your quads some questions

Through that you discovered that they found it weird that you were so quiet and thus very difficult to read during conversations

once you explained that humans just can't make some of those sounds they grew more understanding, but now you do make an effort to make some noises like clicking your tongue or sighing

you even told them the ultimate human secret of talking with your eyes and concealed facial expressions

Chixie, Polypa and Lanque taking it much quicker than Mallek and Marvus did

sometimes having whole conversations with you from across the room while your dear Skek Boy and busty clown were just lost

Mallek even getting a bit salty for not understanding you for shit

But it wasn't easy for you either, troll language wasn't one size fits all and each of your friends expressed themselves differently

Tyzias swears to you those are just different accents but you say it's their little special ways

Chixie Roixmr

She's very musical, usually putting them in her songs

her chirps resemble the ones from crickets, though much longer making her able to sing with them

Some of the songs she wrote for you are made only for chirps and purrs

even if you can't understand the lyrics you love them with all your heart

Strangely when Chixie is angered or any of you are in danger you hear a deep rattle noise coming from deep into her chest

it almost doesn't sound like her, the rattles make her sound much bigger than she is

usually making whoever is attacking her exitate giving her the change to either run or take them out

Also, when she rapped as The Mask this rattle frequently snuck into her performances

Polypa Goezee

Though very quiet, especially for a troll, once you gained her trust you saw how vocal she is

She purrs a lot, and I mean a lot

the loudest being while she tells you the plots of her favorite romance books, the purrs giving the tiniest distortion to her voice that's just the cutest thing in the universe

Buzzes and chirps when talking about things that can't be explained through words

and sometimes even with things that can be explained but she claims clicking just conveys it better

Strangely she doesn't growl or hiss, claiming that it would be unprofessional of her to do so

or maybe it's because she doesn't want to scare you

Considering her line of work and outer personality it would make sense, that is, only if you didn't know the real Polypa

Tyzias Entykk

Doesn't vocalize this way very often since it can become a bad habit and sneak on her while with a client

but on some extreme circumstances the most she will allow herself to do is growl at an attacker or click when she's almost passing out from exaustion

You drag her back to her coon as she melts to your touch , her clicks making you reminisce of a long forgotten memory of summer nights by the riverside, nature bringing the world alive among the darkness that surrounds you

Lanque Bombyx

Also very musical, will and did use this to flirt with you

Squeaks when frightened though he tries to hide it with his life

if you heard him squeak, no you didn't

Sometimes he'll let out these high pitched hums almost inaudible to you

this is a subtle way for Lanque to tell you how he feels without him actually needing to go through the embarrassment of doing so

Mallek Adalov

One of the most vocal trolls you've ever met

clicking and chirping while casually talking, even on the day you met

They're not shy about it and was one of the first trolls you noticed vocalizing like that

When lost in thought or upset that a code won't work for no apparent reason they click like a cicada

and you started associating this sound to spending the night laying at the sofa next to Mallek's table messing with your palmhusk as you wait for them to finish whatever they're doing

Their hisses and growls are kept only for situations that really call for it, none of them ever directed at you even during big arguments

thankfully you don't hear them too often but those are the moments you're remembered that trolls are in fact predators

it would seriously scare you if you saw anyone else doing it like Mallek

Their purrs on the other hand are for you and you only

Mallek purrs a lot and it vibrates their whole body

the purrs are just the perfect volume that you faintly hear when next to them but once you rest your head on Mallek's chest or under their chin you can hear them loud and clear

and you know those are the sounds of their love for you

Mallek will use said purrs to lull you to sleep on the regular

especially when you're sitting on their lap while they code

also voice warble,there's been multiple nights when you just play around with how Mallek's purrs modify both of your voices

Marvus Xoloto

A lot of clicks, almost being able to talk with only them

and Marvus has more than once tried to have whole conversations with poor clueless you this way

maybe as revenge for excluding him in your concealed facial expressions conversations

or maybe he's just doing it to pester you, who knows

You regularly see him talking to his lusus only with said clicks

The most musical of all and almost sings through his rasps and wrirrs

he uses them as his not-so-secret weapon during concerts making his fans go completely off the rails into a totally different mode of transportation

But off stage they sound so, so much different

the rasps that almost sound like growls and the wrirrs that are high pitched and sharp will soften once you're alone

almost like a lullaby just for you

though when Marvus is feeling silly he will sneak a honk in with them just to startle you awake

as in, some starting points to get u going, since "homestuck" is a very broad subject:

•i'm a massive massive slut for the epilogues and post canon content/hsbc. pesterquest is too good for this gay earth.

•dirk is my fav, ALL of the dirks, all of them, and it isn't even close. my fav relationship is the canon platonic/familial one between dirk and dave. i fucking love the striders. dave is my 1.5th fav.

•im more invested in dave's relationship to corndogs (and corn dogs) than you even know.

•mspa reader is my second fav after the striders, bc they are a good thembo friendsimp and also bc they are me and they are You. i might be biased. i love You. i love me. i love us. we're fucking gr8.

•im pretty canon-compliant, so my fav ship is dirkjake as exes (for now), and my fav ship as not-exes is panquadrant (canon) davekat.

i'm also really fascinated by rosemary and would welcome more opportunities to learn abt and talk about them but if homestuck makes a statement about anything it's to let the women and the sapphic characters tell their story (thats a joke, talk to me abt them too)

•i'm fascinated by classpects and the applications of paradox space's classpecting and extended zodiac system when applied to real life, since our only experience of those fictional systems is in linear dimensions of spacetime, and our only experience of astrology is as a species that in-universe cannot experience the sign caste system the same way the fictional aliens that created our species in their own image do. skaia knows, but we sure as fuck don't.

•i'm a former prince of heart (2012-2020) and a current knight of space, and my aspect is light. that is a thing that actually makes perfect sense for the reasons i just said.

don't ask me about vriska serket or (vriska) serket. not bc i'm not willing to discuss dark or problematic characters (hello, lanque bombyx) but bc:

for one, she can speak for her damn self, and has, tyvm.

for two, talking at length about a problematic character in any positive capacity marks you as an enemy of the state if that character is a woman, and being an enemy of the state is way too much fucking pressure for me for reasons i already explained as soon as i told you i'm a knignt of space. i wouldnt make a very good enemy of the state. it'd be an unhealthy blackrom relationship to the detriment of us all.

for three, i can just give you all my opinions/headcanons on vriska that matter:

•JOHN HUGGING VRISKA IN HSBC YESSSSSSSSSS

•she's greasy and gross and unkept af but not unclean or unsanitary, like, she bathes, she smells fine, she changes her clothes, but she's got the troll crust punk aesthetic absolutely on LOCK. she doesn't comb her hair.

•it would have been funny if she did even more bad things

•aradia did nothing wrong. vriska did but the meme is funny even if someone needs to take that meme out back and shoot it for the good of humanity.

•she should beat up ultimate dirk, and my reasoning for that is bc that would, also, be really fucking funny if she did

•john has both punched her in the face and hugged her, and now that john has punched aranea in the face, all that's left is for june—i assume she will have come out of her egg(bert) by then—to hug aranea and complete the circle of stupidity.

•she is trans yeah but she doesn't wanna get into it, she doesn't have to, and neither do i.

Lanque was reapplying his black lipstick in the mirror, a bit of Alternian moonlight was shining through the bathroom window behind him. The guy may be a whole bag of dicks but he wanted to look nice. He winced hearing the stomp of footsteps down the stairs then a very rapid stomp going back up. The jade had to stop himself from biting at the side of his cheek with the newly applied lipstick, but it was hard.

A small growl escaped Lanque’s throat and he snapped the lipstick shut then stormed out of the bathroom to the bottom of the stairs

“HEY!! If you’re gonna be sWord fighting your pilloWs again do it outside so you don’t break all my shit!!” He hissed waiting for a response. Nothing. Nothing at all for a good few minutes.

The Jade’s eye twitched slightly as he began to storm up the stairs himself.

“This fuckin..”

Lanque was barely gonna knock the teal’s door off it’s frame but he stopped himself. The sound of crying was coming from the inside making Lanque hold his hand back. He breathed in softly and gingerly put his ear up to the door. Lanque very gently knocked on the door with the back of his hand and waited

“..What do you want…” The teal grumbled from the room

“May I come in Kalbur?” Lanque asked softly, though he slightly winced at himself for the sudden change of his behavior.

“…You may enter…”

The jade pushed the door open walking inside. Tegiri was curled in a ball somewhat, his glasses were in front of him on his small futon he was sitting on.

Lanque walked over and gingerly sat next to Tegiri on the cushions.

He didn’t really say much for a long while, it was just the sound of the ceiling fan for a good few moments.

After awhile Tegiri uncovered his face and scooted over to the jade, he put his cheek on his arm leaning against him.

Lanque looked at the teal as he did so, he silently wrapped an arm around Tegiri and begun stroking his shoulder.

“Are you gonna make fun of me for showing an vu/nerab/e state of my persona? Huh?”

“No, surprisingly.”

“Do you care to talk about it?”

Tegiri shrugged some silently intertwining his fingers with Lanque’s free hand

“I just, I don’t feel good today.”

“Understood.”

The jade pecked at Tegiri’s cheek making the teal’s cheeks puff out like a puffer fish. Lanque snickered when he pulled his head back up

“What????” Tegiri questioned, with a big black lipstick smear on his cheek.

“Nothing~”

i actually share my Dusk timeline with mod clownbae and mod jubejube, who are my Roxy (Rome) and Jane (Jace) repectively, but i’ll talk more about my own shit instead of babble their stories for them (especially since jubejube’s got questions about it waiting for them anyways)

to get the basics kind of out of the way, i was a Rogue of Heart, my planet was Land of Spirit and Security (my quest involved delivering letters but i dont remember much of it), and my chumhandle was temptationsTachycardia!

my house was in like, a really foggy sort of beach town and was on stilts with big balconies and I lived with my mom. well. whenever she randomly showed up. more often she’d come home while i was asleep and leave me notes or recorded messages behind. i think my own strife specibus was essentially a broken pair of scissors wielded in two halves but i also had a tendency to like. borrow other people’s weapons as well. i had a tendency to follow people around silently staring at them and copying their way of acting, moving, or speaking. #justHeartPlayerthings 

me and Rome were super tight-knit and i think i tended to interact with the cherubs more so than others and don’t think i ever made an AR in this timeline. 

that’s the like, general overview anyway. 

Lanque Soleil stuff is a bit foggier and more of a feeling type deal. i was swapped with Baizli (tho i’m not sure if i was still a life player or if i was a doom player instead... hm) and traveled with the rest of the cloister (Troupe, in this universe since we were purples not jades). i was an aerialist and honestly more of my memories are set up on the trapeze than on the ground. i know one thing for sure, i liked getting a little too familiar with other people and then using them as the purpleblood equivalent of a glitter gel pen was i got tired of flirting with them. sure, i talked flowery and held a pretty image, but i know for sure i was an absolute asshole. i admit to my crimes, at least

i was reminded of my korekiyo kin memories from a kin assignment of a fandom i know very little about, which means the kin is probably spot on, but i needed to recover from remembering those again.

still trying to "shift" which is mainly so i can be my kin or be with f/o's. i don't know if i've talked about it here. i know the community is a bit messy, but i sort of see it as a way to control my dreams (if i ever manage to do it). there have been moments where i feel like on another plane i'm myself as korekiyo shinguji, which is often pleasant.

still have disconnect from my face. i don't talk about it much, if i remember correctly, but i have always had a strong disconnect from my face and last week or the week before it kicked in again and i had to have Chara's face more than Korekiyo because he was getting stressed about absorbing other people's makeup. this likely sounds like a bunch of shit, but it makes sense to me so whatever.

i also have been messing with ai chatbots for the past 3-5 days. lots of fun, and reminds me of roleplaying. i may try to uncover more kin memories through talking to characters as myself, though i'm a bit occupied practicing my gore/torture writing with it. maybe i should get back into roleplay? i would, but there's a low chance of it spawning any kin memories since nobody wants to roleplay with me (korekiyo) with the in-game characterization. fuck chunsoft for doing that to me. i'm doomed to get little to no roleplay with others as myself /hyp /overexag /neg

Okay, not really. I will get something, just not much. Maybe I should just roleplay as Raules again, or start a new character. I don't want to revisit Raules without new sprites, though that may just be a way for me to put off rejoining the scene through him. Maybe I should just start from scratch with a new character, have fun developing them and making some sprites, then try to roleplay again. I would like some more verbose stuff this time, but I do love casual roleplay with it's visual elements. Now I'm rambling, ha.

Since you're talking about clownlets, are there any plans to include Karako or the twins in Nobody Knows for the future?

I hesitate to give a firm yes or no for either because I'm at the beginning of musing about clown stuff. That caste intimidates me to write because I want to do a bit more than superficial clown jokes and am curious as to what life for them would be like. That and them being kids were traits of theirs in how it shaped how they saw things so let's see how that would even morph as they grew.

I also hc Karako having the hardest time being surrounded by all clowns all the time. It's like entering your friends house and they stop you from taking your shoes off and tell you their parents let them wear shoes in the house. It's friendly but different. And feels weird.

obelizestuck requests are open here, it’s my current passion project. i used to be open to dirgestuck ones but at the moment i’m struggling with my feelings towards it. i’m sorry and i know it sucks i’m not getting to the requests for it but it’s a shitty time in my head.

i’m fine with you reposting my stuff as long as you credit me, with a link to either this tumblr or on my instagram. i however am not fine with you using my art for any drama or character bashing. 

i take a long ass time with ships, it’s just i get irritated with how awful i end up making characters look. i know it sucks that i used to draw some ships and they’re now on my never gonna draw this part. i had a string of friends who i wrote with using some of those ships and it just, sucks doing them now.

if you want to talk about my personal head canons and the amount of ridiculous homestuck lore i’ve got in my head, my ask box is always open. if it’s general homestuck or obelizestuck, ask here. if it’s random bloodswaps - the daily blog is your friend. i honestly have stories for every piece so i’m more than happy to divulge. the clown cult and jade bloods are the things i’m passionate the most about

folykl, meulin, lynera, cirava, chahut, ardata, feferi, nihkee, kurloz and gamzee are my all time favorites (not in order because they’re all amazing to me), lesser faves are sollux, remele, chixie, marvus and lanque. if you’re requesting the super faves i’ll likely do them sooner though i do intend on filling every request one day

i’m not a huge fan of the human characters but rose rules. i’m not getting into least favorite characters because i don’t want to make someone feel i’m attacking them for liking a character and the pieces with said character are upsetting, i’ve gone through that a million times with gamzee and it sucks ass

i’m not getting into heavy drama regarding this because i’ve done it so many times in the past and it’s headache inducing, i love gamzee. i’ve been sent gore for liking gamzee. i’ve also had horrible shit sent from people who like him and were attacked and it’s just. not something i’m getting into or changing about myself. 

i fucking hate pesterquest and homestuck2, they’re fucked up stories and i hate that characters i genuinely love have been turned into such piles of shit. friendsim also has a ton of bullshit in it (think elwurd, lanque and marvus to be exact) but it was better than the absolute train wreck that pesterquest was. i don’t feel like going into heavy detail on this but you can message @emeradan for the full low down. act 2 also had a fuck ton of issues and my stories and head canons are based more in friendsim and the original homestuck comic than the pile of shit that is recent homestuck.
