You and Kian were attatched at the hip since kindergarten, him first approaching you during the first day of class to talk about how his parents told him about starfish swimming in the sky at night.
Eventually after a few playdates, you were finally ready to call the both of you best friends.
It wasn't much of a surprise to your parents that you didn't try to approach other kids as you were already content with Kian himself, and he took pride in that.
"See! Y/n doesn't need anyone else and so do I! We have each other, don't we?" Kian exclaimed, turning to look to you for confirmation. He beamed when you nodded.
The adults cooed, glad to see their kids getting along well and clinging to each other. "Awe, this is so cute! Smile!" Kian's father out his phone to snag a picture. Kian wasted no time to wrap his arms around you and smile, encouraging you to give a meeker one.
And then during middle school, Kian would always sit beside you during classes you had together. Claiming that having someone you know beside you helped with learning.
This was proven wrong when all you two did was whisper to each other about nonsense, paying no mind to the lesson.
And he'd always share his food with you, even if you didn't forget yours. "Well, mama says I'm a growing boy and need to eat. And since you're a boy you're growing too!"
You took the pieces of Kian's meal he placed into your lunchbox back to his, shaking your head. "I already have enough Kian, growing boys need their own food."
Kian pouted, and began to whine. "But both of our parents told me to take care of you at school! How am I supposed to do that if I don't at least try?" You whipped your head at him, embarassed at what your parents told him.
"They said what!?" Kian nodded at you, chewing. "Y'know because you're shy and can't talk to other people?"
A sigh left your lips. "What does that have anything to do with feeding me?" You shook your head. "Anyway stop it, I don't need to be fed like a baby!" You huffed, before angrily munching away.
Kian sat still for awhile, thinking. Before deciding to tease you. "Aww, why not? Little ol' Y/n only eating when he's fed properly?" He scooped up some of his lunch and went towards you.
"Here comes the airplane! Woooosh!" Kian snickered at your shocked face. "What!? That's even worse Kian!" Grabbing onto his arm to force it back, but Kian wanted to have fun.
"Oh I'm sorry, did you want the choochoo train?" He cackled, eventually placing the spoon back to let out his laughter.
Looking away to stop making it worse, you mumbled. "God that was embarassing..." but you were drowned out by your best friends's giggling. "It's fine Y/n, I don't mind!" He said.
"Well I do." You rolled your eyes at him. "Now eat your food if you wanna grow." Kian stiffled his laughter but eventually went back to eating.
And now you're in highschool, and puberty is making it the worse. People you knew in a small community became mean and targeted you for your shyness.
Well, it wasn't just them who changed. Kian did as well, and you think it's safe to say he's qualified to be your bodyguard.
Always walking you to your classes, fending you off from bullies, sending his harshest glare to those who even look at you wrong. He might be a little overkill but it did provide protection. Even if it did backfire on you.
"Who do you think you are? Using a guy like Kian to protect you? Do you pay him or something?" Being cornered by some other students was definitely not something you expected. Especially when you don't have a bad reputation.
"I don't think so, someone like him wouldn't have any money." One of them snickered. "Look, all we're asking is to leave him alone. It's sad enough he has to hang out with someone like you, jeez."
A girl sighed, "Oh poor Kian, star of the Basketball team having to deal with a loser nobody like you. It's pitifful."
Kian did grow a reputation. For being kind and charming, despite being a class clown he never really said anything degrading. And on top of that, he was athletic. Everything a teacher and a classmate could want.
Active participation, good sportsmanship, good grades, a great relationship among his peers and teachers? And what did you have? All you were was the kid that Kian stuck with, Kian's "friend".
Though none of this answered why they thought of you using Kian when you've been best friends since diapers.
"Aww look, he's too ashamed of himself to say anything. We caught you red handed didn't we?" One scoffed, stepping towards you and grabbing your collar. "Just scram."
And you did. Speedwalking then breaking into a run when you weren't in their sight anymore.
Then, the next day arrived. And as much as you didn't want to— you had to go to school. You already had everything planned out, talk to Kian about this and hopefully he can clear up whatever twisted misunderstanding this was.
But the heated stares you got from some students were enough for you to back out on your plan. Maybe they think I forced him to tell them I'm not bribing him. Ugh.
Nervous thoughts swarmed your head as you sat in your usual seat, and Kian beside you. "Hey Y/n! Wanna go eat out later?" He smiled, sitting down.
Though the prolonged silence confused him a little. Usually you'd nod at him or hum. "Y/n? Did you hear me?" His eyes met yours before you briefly look away. "Okay uhh, did I do... anything? Did something happen?" He suddenly got defensive.
Why is he ignoring me? Kian thought. Staring at you with hard focus. Well I know for a fact I haven't done anything out of line. Have I been to overbearing? Was I that obvious?
Kian hummed, lightly tapping his pencil against the desk. He's been careful for a long time now, managing to keep up the act of an affectionate friend. And it's not like you weren't used to it— cause apparently he's been like this ever since kindergarten, said by both of your parents. So what could be making you act like this?
Honestly, he was a little hurt. You were always such a sweetheart with him. He enjoyed playing the role of a dumb friend who you had to look out for and worry about. And Kian wasn't taking you getting "tired" of him as a reason.
Now you felt bad for ignoring him like this, but you panicked. You were unsure of how to deal with the situation. And now Kian's getting hurt because of it. Maybe I really am an asshole.
It was kind of obvious that something was going on, you had such a somber expression on your face it made Kian frown. The last thing he would want is you getting hurt.
He sighed. Deciding to talk to you about it after school. He wasn't really fond of the idea that you were falling out with him, after everything he's done for you? No way in hell.
Eventually school neared it's end and you tried your best to get out as soon as possible. To avoid Kian and both those guys who cornered you the other day.
With quickened steps and bated breath, you walked out of school as soon as the last bell rung. Kian would surely be swarmed by his teammates— allowing you time to escape.
Oh god, why am I even doing this? Your mind overflowed with anxious thoughts. What if the bullies caught you? What if Kian caught you? The look on his face would be a nightmare.
He'd probably laugh at you for being such a coward, running away from your problems.
Suddenly— an arm reached out to you once you passed by the same street on the way home. Heart beating at the speed of light before realizing it was just Kian.
Oh. It was Kian.
Quickly tensing once you made eye contact, and in a panicked state a bunch of incoherent words left your mouth.
"Kian! I... forgot we always walk this way home." Awkward chuckles filled the air. It made you uncomfortable how you could feel the sweat sliding from your temple.
"Y/n. I was looking for you! Or- waiting for you actually."
He stepped back to give you space. "You worried me man, I thought I did something! I didn't, did I?" He whispered at the end.
For some reason you were relieved to see he wasn't mad at you. I mean, Kian? The Kian who would take care of you when sick? No way.
"Uhm... hi." You whispered after atleast a minute. Kian's face softened. "Hi," he cooed. You were wrapped in a warm embrace once he spoke again. "Hi Love."
Tumblr media
Kian wanted nothing more than to smother you in hugs once you were in the alleyway. But he didn't want to overwhelm you.
He missed your voice so much that when he said hi he couldn't help but hug you. Though he was able to restrain himself from squeezing you to death.
Shortly after that, Kian confronted you about why you were ignoring him. Obviously he found out why and let's just say they were dealt with.
Overtime Kian grew paranoid that people would hurt you when he isn't there so... his overprotectiveness kind of grew.
Always sitting beside you, having an arm wrapped around your shoulder, he even got his classes chanbed just for you!
And well... he started to make good use of your personality. Aww, too shy to speak? Don't worry, Kian will order for you!
You didn't mind when he would talk for you, if anything you were grateful. Minus the times he took the opportunity to put words in your mouth.
It's all good fun though! Kian doesn't mean any harm to tease you. (Even if it's on purpose just so he could make it up afterwards)
Give it a few more months and maybe he'll take it to the next level.

Can I please request a Adam Sackler having a fun Daddy daughter day with the reader recording his reaction as she tells him that she’s pregnant again?
Hi there! Technically my requests are still closed, but you asked for this a few days ago and I couldn’t get it out of my head so I had to write out a little something!
Room in the Kingdom
Tumblr media
Adam Sackler x Reader
Warning: all fluff, but mentions of children and pregnancy.
Adam has been a terror all day. You think this to yourself with a smile on your face as you watch him toss your screaming, giggling toddler into the air for the millionth time, his growling “monster voice” echoing off the walls.
Your daughter has reached the terrible-twos and Adam seems to think that the best way to respond is by stooping to her level. The amount of running around that has occurred in your apartment these last few weeks would rival any Olympic racetrack and you’ve been too dizzy to even begin to keep up.
You’ve been too dizzy in general.
You watch your husband place your daughter down on the floor, at the mouth of the fort they had recently constructed from pillows and your good sheets, much to your frustration. He grabs a nearby teddy bear and makes the plushy walk towards her along piles of fabric.
“Mr. Bear, at your service m’lady,” Adam warbles in a ridiculously high and snooty bear voice. “I wish to enter your fine castle and serve as a member of your royal guard.” The little girl eyes Adam behind calculating lashes before knocking the bear out of his hand.
“No,” she says simply. Adam nods.
“Good call, princess. He seemed pretty suspicious.” Adam leans into her conspiratorially, cupping a hand over his mouth as if to tell a secret. “Do you know what I think?”
Your daughter shakes her head vigorously.
“I think,” Adam begins, and you watch him pull the bear from the ground surreptitiously while the little girl’s attention is on his face. “I think that bear wanted to start an uprising. He was planning a violent coup that would take over your kingdom!”
You shake your head and smile to yourself, pulling your phone out to film the antics. There is no way she understands what he’s saying, but she sure is entertained, staring wide-eyed up at her father and beaming. Suddenly Adam pulls the bear out from behind his back, standing him in front of your daughter as if he has just jumped out of the sheets.
“Aha! My plan has been foiled!” Adam screeches as the bear. “I’ll get you, princess!”
Adam descends on the little girl with the plush bear, tickling her and making funny little gnawing noises. She kicks out her little legs and screams with glee.
Adam makes a big show of tossing the bear away from the fort, breathing theatrically as if he has just finished a monumental struggle.
“Don’t worry, princess! I’ve saved you!” He grabs your daughter and rolls over so that he’s on his back and she sits triumphant on his chest.
“Yay!” she cheers, throwing up her little arms.
“Yay!” Adam echoes, throwing up his own gargantuan arms as well.
The image, watched through the screen of your phone as you record it, makes your heart clench. This is the right moment.
“Hey, babe,” you call out to him, still watching him through the phone. He glances over at you, a goofy grin on his face.
“Yes, Queen Mother?” He grabs your daughters arm and makes her wave her little hand over at you.
“You think the kingdom has room for another prince or princess?”
Adam’s whole body freezes, instantly halting the movement of waving the little girl’s arm. She squirms in his motionless grasp and jumps down from his body, wandering over to pick up and play with the bear as Adam keeps staring at you, jaw slack.
Your phone is knocked out of your hand the next second when Adam’s arms close in around you, crushing your body tight to his chest.
“Is it…are you really?” He doesn’t let you pull away from him, instead keeping your face pressed against the fabric of his shirt, but from the sound of his voice you can tell there are probably tears in his eyes.
“Yep, found out earlier today while you two were on that space expedition.” Your words trail off into laughter as Adam begins showering your face in haphazard, sloppy kisses. He presses one last kiss to your neck as he pulls back to place a hand over your belly.
“We’re gonna need a bigger ship.”
“Woooosh!” The sound comes from your daughter, who imitates a rocket blast off from under the covers of the fort.
You hold onto Adam tightly and laugh together, his deep voice rumbling out.
“Exactly, Princess – wooosh!”

Firen Lhain: Chapter 301: The Colour of Dreams
"So," Jaune stated, "as you all know, today is the first day of the Vytal festival. So, in the name of team spriit, we need to have a group hug."
As soon as the word was out of his mouth, Nora was flying at him with open arms. He caught her with one hand, and she hung from his shoulder. She then reached up with one hand to grab onto his antler. Pyrrha nervously blushed until he pulled her in with his free hand, and Ren joined the group hug a moment later.
"I wouldn't trade you guys for the world." Jaune stated.
"What about RWBY?" Nora asked, and Jaune just stood there. "Well?.."
"Nora..." Ren admonished.
"They are wonderful friends as well." Pyrrha diplomatically said.
* * *
JNPR shimmied along the stands until they found open seating. As competitors they had choice seats near the front, but ledged down so that Jaune didn't have to worry about blocking anyone's sight. The group sat down and Jaune looked about questioningly.
"I'm sorry?," Pyrrha asked, "but is something the matter? Pyrrha asked.
"I think we should have made posters or something." Jaune replied.
"Then we will just have to cheer with more enthusiasm." Pyrrha excitedly replied.
"I've got that part covered!" Nora exclaimed, while Ren pulled out a paper. He unfolded it, and unfolded it, and unfolded it, and unfolded it, and unfolded it... and it was a banner. Jaune looked at him questioningly.
"You did say we need posters..." Ren replied.
"After... you had made it." Jaune replied.
"It was still a good idea." Ren replied, "If a bit belated."
Pyrrha began waving into the arena, and Jaune looked over to see RWBY walking out, along with the other team.
"We love you!" Nora screamed.
"RWBY!" Jaune buggled, "RWBY! RWBY!"
"Do you think I should throw my bra down there?" Nora asked, and Ren lowered the sign for a moment, just staring at her. "Too much?" she asked.
"Indeed." Ren grumbled, and lifted the sign back up.
The arena began to shake and Jaune stopped shouting. "What's... happening?.."
"They're changing the arena, duh." Nora replied.
"Is this your first time?" Pyrrha asked, as fire and ice came out of the ground surrounding the stolid centre.
"Yes..." Jaune voiced. "Is that a skateboard?" he asked.
"A huntsman's weapon is whatever he wants it to be." Pyrrha delightful said, "Isn't it wonderful?"
"Well, but... like?.." Jaune asked, "Does she fight with it... or just she just fly around on it?.."
"I do believe," Ren voiced, "that we will find out shortly."
"Why aren't you cheering?!" Nora shouted, and Jaune and Pyrrha started cheering once again.
* * *
"Did she just punch her skateboard?" Jaune asked.
"Less talk." Nora stated, "More cheering."
In reply Jaune started cheering once again.
* * *
Yang and Arslan punch's collides, causing a visible and audible shockwave. 'Aura fighting aura.' Jaune thought to himself.
* * *
"Come on Yang!" Jaune shouted, "You've got more fight in you!", and a wobbling Yang steadied herself as Arslan jumped at her.
* * *
The pink-haired guy nearly shot Yang, but was frozen by ice dust from Crescent Rose. 'Overwatch is important.' Jaune thought to himself. 'Something my team is not so good at. Honestly, they... literally... dive in head first. Well, Nora does, and Ren quickly follows...
* * *
Jaune watched Ruby and Weiss fight the stick guy. Stupid stick guy. With his stupid stick. They were purposefully missing with their blades... but... the Aura still hit... He thought Aura would stop the attacks... unless... they were worried about it being too strong... or were just hesitant. RWBY?.. hesitant?..
* * *
Jaune watched Weiss summon... what... a black hole?, that sucked the two guys in together. That was what you could do with dust. His jaw then went slack when Weiss caused a hand of ice to come up and grab the two. "What in the good god was that?!"
"Wicked-awesome is what it was!" Nora shouted.
"Indeed!" Pyrrha cheerily added.
And then Jaune's jaw went slack again when Arslan shattered the ice ball... cube... dudes... with one punch... "Wouldn't that hurt? Her... them?.." Jaune asked. "I mean, the shockwave traveled through the whole rock, didn't it?"
"Perhaps?," Ren quietly asked, "That's why Yang was able to take them out with one punch?"
"One punch I could see." Jaune replied.
"THEY DID IT!" Nora screamed.
"Wooooo!" JNP_ cheered.
"More like a WOOOOSH!" Nora exclaimed.
* * *
Jaune watched that green haired girl he hated walk towards RWBY. "Well, she's Ruby's friend..."
"And found her wallet!" Nora excitedly said.
"That is... improbable..." Ren voiced, and Jaune patted him on the shoulder.
"My thoughts exactly."
* * *
Emerald and Mercury walked away from the stand as JNPR walked up.
"I don't see what's so special about being socially awkward." Jaune quietly voiced. "I'm socially awkward too, and I not special."
"I'm sorry..." Pyrrha voiced, "But I'll have to disagree."
"We're like wicked cool." Nora stated. "Okay... we're not... but... we're like a team... right?"
"More than a team." Jaune stated, "We're friends." The rest of his team quickly looked at him him with curious expressions. "Right?"
"Can I?.." Nora quietly asked, and eagerly leaned towards him, "have another group hug?.."
Jaune stopped, rolled his eyes, and smiled. He then picked Nora up for another hug before Pyrrha and Ren joined them.
* * *
"Oh, I think I'm going to throw up." Emerald stated. "Did they seriously just do that?.." Mercury just stared at JNPR as they broke up the hug. "What?" Emerald asked.
"Just curious," Mercury said to her, "what it would be like to have team mates... you actually..."
"Actually what?" Emerald asked.
"Though," Mercury said, looking her in the eyes, "you might already know..."
"Know what?!" Emerald demanded, and Mercury developed a wide smile.
"If you keep that up, you might break your peppy disguise." Mercury said with a grin, and Emerald just sighed, trying her best to force a smile. "Why am I the one that has to pretend to be their friend?"
"I don't know?.." Mercury bitingly said to her, "Maybe you just have a friendly face?"
"Let's just get back to the dorm room." Emerald replied, and turned to walk way. Mercury quickly walking behind her.
* * *
JNPR watched as the credit card was thrown back at Weiss. "What's going on?.." Jaune worriedly asked.
"Looks like her card got declined..." Nora matter of factly stated, as if it happens all the time. That certainly wasn't the way Jaune was brought up... and for Weiss... a Schnee... this was...
Pyrrha saw the distressed look on Jaune's face and stepped forward. "Maybe I could help?" Pyrrha asked.
"Pyrrha!" Ruby exclaimed.
"Aww..." Yang stated, "You don't have to..."
"But she could!" Blake exclaimed.
"Well..." Pyrrha's soothing voice replied, "I think you all earned it after that battle."
"Mind if we join you?" Jaune asked, and Ruby eagerly wagged her tail.
* * *
JNPR stood in the changeroom. Pyrrha walked towards the arena-side exit, Ren slowly behind her. Jaune put his hand on Nora's shoulder. She turned around to look him in the eyes, the other two pausing to look at them. "Nora," Jaune said to her, "we... have nothing to lose. No one is going to die, if we fail, we're not going to flunk out. The worst that will happen is that we will be the goofballs..."
"A position we already seem to hold..." Ren quietly voiced.
"Look, Nora..." he said, and she looked up into his eyes, "If anyone says anything to us about it, what do we say in reply?"
"Uh?.." Nora thought, "We'll break their legs?"
A pregnant pause followed as Jaune tried not to be judgemental. "Good answer, but no. We tell them THAT WE TRIED. They had just as much of a chance to be here as we did, and they didn't. We fought, they sat on the sidelines." Jaune then looked between all three of his team mates, "I know we're all going to do our best, and I want to tell everyone that I'm proud of you."
Nora wiped something out of her eyes and quickly turned to dash towards the arena-side exit. Ren and Pyrrha quickly turned as well. All three trying to hide the moistness in their eyes.

{Below is a piece written alongside @dae-shadowvale ft. @simplysoriya . Sometimes i like to torture my characters a little too much. So yeah, uh, this happened. It’s pretty long, you’ve been warned.}
Tumblr media
A soft smile graced his lips as she saved him from himself, and that fear of saying something dumb just when things were getting emotional. "I've been doing some side work. But basically until I decide to go to therapy I'm off active duty. They've been taking it sort of easy on me since I was a POW." Though before Kirollis could expand on just how much he hated therapy, the fishing line began to stir. It started at the tip at first, gentle jerks and pulls that went unnoticed. But in the midst of their conversation the thin piece of wood bent completely into a curve as something snagged on the line.
 "Oh shit! I think I got something!" He exclaimed.
Dae felt her chest involuntarily tighten at the mention of Kiro’s imprisonment, and while she did what she could to keep that mental flinch from broadcasting itself through her expression, there was likely a lingering flash of sadness in her gaze as she listened to his response. Yes, there was the obvious reminder of the toll that time had taken on herself - all the hopeful glances toward the cafe door every time she heard that bell ring, only to feel her heart sink over and over again - all the nights of falling asleep with her comm in her hand, hopeful that she would hear his voice break through the radio silence, and terrified to hear someone else’s - the emotional torture she put herself through in those weaker moments, wondering if he’d just... left. Now? Thinking back to that period of time, knowing what he had gone through, it made her feel guilty. The fact that he’d waited so long to at least let her know he was alive was still a very sore spot for her, and there was still a lot of emotional ruin to wade through, but there would always be space in her heart for the snarky rogue and his daughter. She wanted to ask him how things had been going with therapy, if he felt like it was helping, if he’d be returning to active duty when he was able, but as fate would have it, none of those questions would make the journey from her thoughts to his ears.
Her eyes widened at his exclamation and she glanced quickly to the place where his fishing line disappeared beneath the water’s surface in a seamless shift into excitement. “What are you waiting for?!” She took one final pull from her bottle, emptying its contents, and leaned forward to peer down into the water. “Reel it in!”
Kirollis gripped tightly on the fishing rod as tremors rocked through the thin wooden frame. Whatever was on the other end of the line was big, and angry, at the rogues resistance. Not entirely lacking in the physical department, either, Kirollis looked like he was struggling to keep up. His feet planted with their heels dug in, only to find nowhere to get a good footing on the wooden and worn planks of the Booty Bay docks.  His knuckles creeping into a feint white coloring as he vigorously pulled with both hands on the handle. It was as if he was completely oblivious to the dancers advice. Sufficiently stunned by the monster that lurked under the docks, snared by his hook. But eventually he did turn to her adding a sarcastic, "Ooooooooh." With a smirk. "By all means, you're more then welcome to help." The rogues voice strained and rough, coming in a guttural tone from the throat. But once he was situated, and the fish offered a brief repose, Kirollis took the opportunity to just that. Carefully leaving the tension of the rod to one hand as the other didn't stray too far to the metal reel line. Painstakingly cranking the lever in a vain attempt to land his prize. All it managed to do was tick every other second as the rod looked increasingly stressed by the rogues efforts. By this point Kirollis had slowly been dragged, unnoticeable by how small the increments, until the tips of his toes hung off the edge of the dock. Curling and clinging to the planks, even if it was likely more for personal comfort then actual strategy.
"It's all in the hips!" A voice echoed from the far beach as Soriya seemed to have taken an active role in watching it all unfold. While she was too far away for expressions to be read, it was a fair assumption to either of them that she wore a shit eating grin at her fathers troubles with a fish.
"Okaythisisn'tworking." Kirollis grunted out quickly to himself. Though determination still sat strong on his features. One finally jerk from the rod was all it took to deflate every ounce of confidence he had. Unceremoniously loosing his balance, one leg jutted out awkwardly as if to purchase some. Though even that proved to do little as another shift from the rod tipped him right over the edge and sent him plummeting to the waters below.
The whole scene unfolded in slow motion for Daelynn, which only served to enhance the hilarity of its outcome. One second, Kiro was beside her on the dock, heels dug in firmly as he strained against the pull on his line. The next, he'd disappeared in a woooosh of air, tumbling head-first into the water, and leaving her somewhat perplexed for a second or two. At first, the dancer rose to her feet - an instinctive reflex of concern for the rogue's well-being - but that reflex was fleeting, at best, and she was quickly overcome with laughter. It poured out of her with the ease of water rushing over the falls; unbridled, jovial, breath-catching laughter that had her clutching her stomach as she sunk to her knees, tears collecting at the outer corners of her vision. There was nothing malicious about her reaction, even as she struggled to find her voice amidst each strained gasp of air, and though the simple fact that watching someone take such an impromptu swim was funny in its own right, there was one glaringly comedic addition to this situation in particular; something that clearly hadn't gone unnoticed by the brunette he'd left behind on the dock.
Kirollis Duskhaven - slayer of men, master of blades, expert of sneak - bested by a fish.
It was true that Kirollis was a lot of things. That he had a long history of being the capable sort. From assassinating Generals without so much as an alarm, to running smuggling rings that spanned across the Eastern Kingdoms and beyond, to a competent spy, and so many other accomplishments. Not a single one of them mattered as Kirollis plunged face forward from the docks down into the crystal clear water below. What would have normally been easy to see was obscured by the milky froth and unsettled water as bubbles raced to the surface following his decent beneath the waves. Angry flailing and churning from beneath that was so violent one could swear they heard curses bubbling up to the surface.
As was above, was to below. While Soriya was busy lounging on her surfboard with her face down. Soaking in the sun and enjoying the day. While she always made it look graceful and effortless, the ocean and the tide had a way of tiring out the body more then most would expect. That amount of control and poise, and maintained at such a level? She was wiped out, and made no efforts to hide it.That was until she heard the telltale sign of weight crashing into water with a bassy PLOOOOP. Instantly her head periscoped, flicking her attention toward the sound. While her facial expression would be near impossible to tell from a distance, the look of confusion sat on her features. Swiftly she tried to make sense of it all as she looked over the disturbed water. Then up to the rapturous sounds of laughter. Tilting her gaze up to find Daelynn, and only Daelynn   standing on the stilted docks, leaning over the side as the music of her uncontainable laughter said it all.
It took only a moment for Soriya to understand what happened. And even less time for her to join in to the chorus of cracking up, so loud that it could be heard in tandem with Dae's own on the dock. Uncontrollable and consistent, those jovial expressions tumbled out of her as if she had little choice in the matter. Gripping on the sides of her board tightly as the young monk doubled over, laying her face down flat on the board as she continued. Before long Soriya rolled right off and into the water- Though unlike her father, she at least seemed to do it intentionally. As if the scene before her was too much for her to take, and she relented to immerse herself beneath the waves in a vain attempt to save her father a little face.
Before long, Kirollis himself surfaced. Lacking the fishing rod that had proven to be his bane, lost and gone to the tides- and the one creature that did manage to best him-.... a fish. Sputtering out water with aggressive and loud raspberries from his mouth, both hands would come up to clear his eyes. Tipping his head up to look at the dancer, who was Still laughing at his pain. Of course he had to say something. "Yeah, sure. Laugh it up. Real nice. What if I couldn't swim? Would you have jumped in after me?" He teased in mock aggravation.... and perhaps a little embarrassment.
“Ohhhh c’mon!” Daelynn retorted, still unable to keep the grin from her face... and still struggling to regain her breath from the sudden, and powerful, outburst of laughter. “You would be laughing just as hard if I was the one taking a dunk and you were standing up here, nice and dry,” she lifted a hand to wipe a stray tear on its way down her cheek with the back of a knuckle, “And you know it.” Kneeling down at the edge of the dock, Dae lowered her voice some, speaking in earnest while the corners of her mouth continued to curl themselves upwards. “If it makes you feel any better, I promise to keep this little incident to myself- outside of teasing you about it for the foreseeable future, of course. Though, I can’t speak for all witnesses...” Her gaze lifted from the sputtering rogue as he continued to tread water, focusing briefly on the mostly-submerged brunette floating out in the distance, and lifted her hand to wave - an acknowledgment of their shared laughter, and also to notify the woman that her father wasn’t in any immediate danger. She returned her attention to Kirollis himself, smirking as she braced herself against the dock with one hand, and extended the opposite arm as far as she could. “Let’s get you out of there before you melt, or something,” she teased, tossing a wink down to him.
"I mean I-.." Kirollis held up a finger in protest. Yet after a moment all it did was curl down, deflated, much like the rogue himself as his jaw hung agape. The logic bomb Daelynn had dropped on him critically hitting, and it showed. In a brief and resilient rebuttal he managed to mutter out, "Well, but I would have at least tried to hide it." Breaking into a chuckle soon after. If there was anything he knew how to do, and do well, it was laugh at himself. The gesture dispelling any notion of hard feelings over the hilarious happenings on the Booty Bay docks.
"Ohhhh no." Dae shook her head, vehemently. "Nonono. How many times have you sprung from the shadows with the sole purpose of scaring me half to death?" She didn't give him even a second to respond before jumping right back into it. "AND out of all those times, how often did you ever attempt to hide your amusement?" Again, she left no room for a rebuttal. "I'll tell you how many."  She held up a hand, fingertips curling around to meet the end of her thumb, forming an obvious 'O'. "None. Exactly zero. So enough of this 'woe is me' act... you big baby." The tone she used was teasing in nature, peppered here and there with a chuckle, but there was no denying the accuracy of her response, and the look on her face was irrefutable proof that she knew she had him at a stalemate on the matter.
By the time a pause marred the pairs playful jabs Soriya had made her way over to make it a trio. Of course she had to laugh at her fathers pain as well chiming in the midst of her paddle, "Dad! Come on, we went over this, you can't just jump in and try and stab them." The monk chirped out with a voice full of giggles. Repositioning to sit up on her board near where her father recovered from his plunge, letting her legs lazily dangle off the flanks and into the water.
"Oh come on." Kirollis protested to the unforgiving crowd, his arms outstretched in an expression that matched his words. Knowing full well that he had, on several occasions, taken great joy in scaring both women- much to their respective disdain. She had him, he knew it, his daughter knew it, and most importantly Daelynn knew it. Turning to Soriya in a bid for some relief, he found no such thing.
Instead the brunette scrunched her youthful features toward their center. Casually shrugging to her fathers desperate plea. With small and rapid nods of her head, the look she gave him in reply all but said You're on your own. Reaffirming the floating mistweaver added, "I'm pretty sure you laugh all the time. You think your slick. But we see it, clearly." Soriya motioned between herself and the dock bound Daelynn.
It didn't take long for Soriya to snap her attention over to Daelynn, happily raising up her hand in a wave before excitedly shouting up, "Hey Dae!" in greeting. "Literally the two of us here and he still gets himself into trouble. Did we really even want him back?" She joked. Blissfully unaware of how her words might hit the dancer. Too caught up in the joy of the moment and the fact that this was one of the rare times the three of them were all together. Not to mention the overwhelming fact that her dad had just been bested by what she could only imagine was a tuna.Shifting to her father once more Soriya asked, "You okay, pop?" She asked with concern.
Kirollis for his part had done his best to roll with the punches. But as always he was dramatic about it, sporting an overly animated pout as his arms crossed over his chest. A sarcastic chuckle escaping him after it was all said and done, "Yeah, sure, you know just my ego is a little bruised. But sure. I'm okay." Of course he wasn't angry, but far be it from him to not ham it up. "You two gonna gang up on me now? Is this like a thing?" He lamented as a hand unfurled from its counterpart and motioned between the two women.  A tired sigh escaped him as he shook his head. Defeated and deflated. "Alright. I relent to my watery fate." He resigned to a surrender, with his hands hoisted near his ears in a carefree manner. Though he did chuckle a little at his own expense when it was all said and done.
"It's good to see you, Sori," Dae turned her attention to the monk, flashing a vibrant smile before her expression shifted into one of feigned grief, "though, it's a shame it had to be under such tragic circumstances..." An exaggerated frown followed, aimed at the drowned rogue, and while Sori's off-the-cuff remark did strike a little close to the chest, Dae managed to keep that pang of emotional discomfort from rising to the surface. "You should stop by the cafe before you leave the Cape - I'll send you off with a box of goodies for the kids."
"I could go for some lunch." Soriya chimed in a little too quickly after Dae had offered. Showing a little more excitement that two of her favorite people were in the same location. Not a thought given to over imposing on the kindness. "Why don't we meet you there in a little bit?"
Thirty minutes later...
Soriya walked through the door first. A mess of jovial giggles and her cheeks bright red. That smile she loved to wear pulled to its limits, even showing a rare display of dimples in the process. Her hair still wet from the ocean and attire that suggested she was going right back out, only having put a t-shirt and flip flops from the previous bikini. Though once those teal eyes found Daelynn in the Cafe, her arms came to the front door as to present, "So dad totally bought my silence."
In walked an exhausted, yet dry, Kirollis. But quite noticeably the rogue wore a bright pink t-shirt that looked just a tad too tight- 'Badazzled' written across the front in an arc in rhinestones.  Of course it was. Complete with a pair of shorts and a damp burlap bag in hand. "Dear diary; worst day ever."

damn i wish i was that hot to get a rose from someone” he spoke - you rolled your eyes as you twirled the rose in your hand - “i wonder who gave it,” you mumbled to yourself - “obviously someone who’s into your dumb ass,” he spoke with a small smile on his face - you scrunched up your rose and raised the corner of your upper lip and kissed your teeth - “how rudeee” you scoffed as jinyoung rolled his eyes - you saw him texting on his phone again - “wOW AM I LIKE THIRD WHEEL MATERIAL OR SOMETHING?” you asked - jinyoung laughed as he shook his head - “nah, it’s nothing don’t worry,” he replied calmly - you rolled your eyes as he chuckled - “seriously, it’s nothing,” he added on as he turned off his phone - time skip again woooosh - you woke up - repeated the same process of your morning routine - and headed out the door as another rose was at your doorstep - picking it up, you read the sticky note - “you’re in la, i’m in new york” it wrote - you chuckled a bit - it was your favorite song called ‘nyla’ - heading back inside, you repeated the same process of placing the rose onto the table and heading out for school - time skip again wOW SO MANY TIME SKIPS FUN - jinyoung woke up a bit later than you did - he took a shower - ate - packed his schoolbag and was ready to go to school - when he opened his apartment door, there was a rose at his doorstep with a sticky note attached to it - he smiled as he picked it up - “i drive to work, you take the train,” the note read

[FN] Death's Reluctant Replacement
This was made for a r/WritingPrompts submission. Here's the post if you want similar stor(ies) or to contribute your own.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The moment I heard that tire blow and saw that car swerve towards me, I thought that was the end. As time slowed down and I saw my life flash before my eyes, the Grim Reaper himself appeared in front of me. However, as odd as it may seem, he wasn’t there to reap my soul. Instead he came with a job opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.
“Ali Nader?” He asked me with a frankly jarring gay inflection that did not match at all with his gothic appearance.
I tried to formulate an answer to his question, but all I could focus on was the station wagon of doom hurtling towards the both of us in slow-motion.
“Ca...car,” was the one thing I could stutter out as I pointed behind Death.
He turned around and then scoffed.
“Oh yeah, that,” said Death nonchalantly. “You’re going to be fine, handsome. Unless of course you aren’t Ali Nader...”
“I’m Ali Nader! I’m Ali Nader!” I shouted hastily, eager not to be caught up in some cosmic mistake.
At this point, the station wagon collided with an SUV, breaking off a side-view mirror in the process and sending it arcing sharply upwards through the air.
“Ok, that’s what I thought,” said Death. “Anyways handsome, lemme lay out what’s going on here: I haven’t come for your soul. Rather, I’m here to tell you that I need you to fill in for me.
A dumbfounded look crawled across my face. But then again, I think it’s been there since this whole situation began.
“I’m going on a spa vacation for a week to the Elysium Plains,” continued Death. “However, my backup guy kinda dropped out, leaving me empty handed. This has made Management all sorts of bitchy and They won’t let me leave till someone takes over. This is where you come in.”
Death then shot me a pair of finger guns and somehow made a click-click sound with what I assumed was a bony cheek.
“Wha...But I don’t know the first thing about being the fuck’n grim reaper!” I said, even more dumbfounded than I was before.”
“Girl please, this job is easy,” said Death, producing a scroll. “All what you do is check this list thingy here, snap your fingers, swing your scythe, then rinse and repeat. It actually gets a bit menial. Oh, but you ARE allowed to listen to podcasts or music to break up the boredom.”
“Wait, what if I don’t want to be the grim reaper? I asked”
Death sighed and rolled his eyes which were but two flaming blips suspended in a void black, hooded oval. In the background, the station wagon began to spin uncontrollably.
“Remember when I said you were going to be ‘fine’?” asked Death rhetorically. “Well it’s more like ‘fine-ish’. You aren’t getting away from this accident completely unscathed. In fact, you’re going to be put in a coma for the next week.
“Ok, what...what does that mean for me?” I asked nervously.
“That means if I miss my spa vacation,” began Death. “Don’t be surprised if something goes wrong with life support while your comatose ass dreams of leading the perfect life. Or maybe something goes wrong even right now.”
In the background, the station wagon was getting closer, so much so, I could read the look of panic on the driver’s face. I gulped.
“Plus, it’s the deal of, dare I say, a lifetime?” said Death, returning to a cheekier tone. “Being THE reaper is way cooler than being a vegetable for a week and waiting to be hit with a massive medical bill. Or even just being dead. Hell, you can even put this on your resume.”
“I really don’t feel like I’m getting a choice in this,” I said.
“Yes, my point exactly,” said Death. “So I take it that you agree to this little arrangement?”
At this point, the now whirling station wagon of doom was unbearably close.
“OK, OK, OK!,” I yelled. “I accept! I accept!”
“Fa-bu-lous,” said Death. “I just need you to sign this.”
I hastily read over the contract and signed a sloppy signature.
“Wonderful!” exclaimed death, positively giddy.
The contract dissipated in a tuft of what I assumed was hellfire. I looked up from this distraction and noticed that Death’s black robe was now replaced with a creamy, floral printed one.
“Tag bitch, you’re it,” he said before gently booping me on the nose and disappearing from my vision.
In that moment, all hell broke lose as time resumed. The station wagon swirled mere inches past me, like some sort of ballerina of death. It made a disheartening crashing noise as it made impact with a shop front behind me. Meanwhile the SUV flipped on it’s back in the road, mere feet away from me, ultimately grinding traffic to a halt. But through all this, I somehow didn’t come to harm.
For a good several seconds, I wondered if my deal with the Grim Reaper was even real. Then I heard it. A woOOosh, woOOosh, woOOosh sound reverberated just above my head. That FUCKING side-view mirror. *KONK*. Then blackness.
I eventually came to, but I didn’t exactly feel right. I then looked down to notice me standing over my own body. Panic swept over me as I hastily checked what I was wearing. Black. Robes. I turned around to only to be greeted by a scythe perfectly propped up in front of me.
I sighed, but my sighing was rudely interrupted by a man yelling from the carnage of the station wagon.
“Holy shit! Am I dead!?” He exclaimed.
“Holy shit! I AM dead!” He continued.
He then began screaming uncontrollably. I reluctantly grabbed the scythe. It was gong to be a loooong week.
