everyone's like "stop using spotify just pirate things and go on bandcamp" well half or more of the music i listen to (including all my most favorite artists) is foreign and not on bandcamp so there goes that. as for piracy. my problem here is. here is how to add a song to your library when pirating, in my experience:
be on your computer
find it on youtube
download it youtube to mp3
open up the song info and add in all the title artist album etc information and preferably also the album cover
do this for the next song and the next
after you've done enough of these run a sync between computer and phone
i don't even know if apple music lets you do this anymore though it's been years
here is how to add a song to your library on spotify:
be on your computer or phone either is good
search it on spotify
click like
you see my conundrum here especially when it comes to wanting to save large amounts of songs at a time and btw i have executive dysfunction. what am i supposed to do about this. sorry if this reveals me as a tech-illiterate gen-z-er

I don’t keep up with new music nearly as much as I used to. Not even discovering new artists or anything, but even new stuff put out by people I already like, it passes me by more than it used to. Late in 2023, I was shocked to learn two of my absolute favourite musicians had put out new albums in 2022 and I didn’t even notice. For most of my life I’ve found out about new music – both new artists and new albums – via folk festivals and country music blogs. Which is why so much of my music collection is Canadian folk music and American (plus some Canadian) country music.
But I haven’t been to a folk festival since pre-COVID – last year I finally started going to see live music again sometimes, this week I’ll be going to my sixth music gig since last August, which is less than I used to but significantly more than I did from 2020-2023, and it’s been really good. I let myself forget, in the depths of the pandemic, how big a part of my life live music was. I took it for granted most of my life, just going to folk festivals with my dad because that’s what happens every summer. And while I’ve been back to concerts, I haven’t been back to festivals, so I haven’t learned about anything new. And I don’t read country music blogs anymore because I’m too busy reading comedy forums.
So aside from blogs and festivals, how am I supposed to know if even my very favourite musicians put out new stuff? I also don’t do Twitter or anything. And of course I don’t do Spotify. I didn’t really know how Spotify worked until recently, I was just vaguely aware that it’s some demon ruining the music industry so I never looked into it. And I am still not going to look into it! Don’t worry everyone, I still have my principles, I am still horrified by the fact that my brother owns no music files and thinks it’s fine to just rent access to music that he only gets to keep hearing as long as he keeps paying and he has internet access and a corporation chooses to keep it on their platform.
However, my friend whom I moved in with in December uses Spotify, and when I hang out with him in the living room, we listen to music via the TV that’s connected to his computer, and I have to admit it’s convenient. Especially when I started typing in my favourite artists and learned that some of them have entire albums I hadn’t even known about. And, even though I’m pretty sure algorithms are a terrible thing to introduce to art, I have found a few new people I like from that.
I haven’t entirely sold out, though, because I did not sign up for Spotify (I would genuinely never do that, I will draw the line at occasionally benefitting from my roommate using it), I went and bought the albums on Bandcamp. Quick reminder of a thing that I never miss an opportunity to remind people, Bandcamp is the way to buy music where the highest percentage of the profits go to the artist (aside from just handing them money for a CD at a gig, I guess), also it’s the most convenient way to get it for the consumer (one easily downloadable folder with every song on the album as DRM-free mp3s).
I also recently raided the CD collection in my dad’s basement, because there was a bunch of stuff I knew he had and I knew I liked but was somehow not in the music collection on my hard drive. So as a result of that, I have a bunch of new music, and I’ve been greatly enjoying it.
Okay, here’s the actual point of this post, after all that pre-amble: Cody Jinks put out an album one month ago, thanks to the evils of corporatized technology I became aware of it when it was only a month old, I’ve been listening to it non-stop for several days, it’s fucking fantastic. It might be my favourite Cody Jinks album, though I’m aware that recency bias in in play. And I like Cody Jinks’ previous stuff a lot.
I should actually say that this might be my favourite Cody Jinks studio album, because he has a live album called Red Rocks Live and nothing's better than that. It's a solid cross-section of his earlier work so a good introduction, if anyone's interested in getting to know him. Which you should be, if you like his sort of thing. His sort of thing is modern American outlaw country music by a guy who used to be in a metal band. All the best country singers used to be in metal bands (him and Corb Lund).
This live version of his song Head Case is as good as country music gets. Good thing to play for anyone who spouts that claim that country music was only good back in the 70s (it was good back in the 70s, but probably wasn't good back then either if the only thing you listened to was pop music on the radio that incorrectly markets itself as country). My horrible abusive high school coach used to nickname me and any other athletes who struggled mentally/psychologically "head case", and now I play this song whenever I get sad about that, which definitely isn't that often or anything because I'm fine and not still trying to win every argument I had when I was 17. Definitely not.
youtube
Anyway, his new album is called Change the Game, and I can't stop listening to it.
It covers the usual themes - sad, angry, drinks too much, would like to stop drinking so much (going a little harder on that last point than some of his previous albums, or maybe I'm just predisposed to notice that these days), and of course the designed outlaw country anthem, in this case it's the title track and it's great. I keep finding new stuff in it.
I often find that my favourite songs on an album change from what they are when I first hear it, but at the moment, the one I've had on repeat the most is:
youtube
And then I listen to the level of guitar going on in this one that's ages ahead of some of the older stuff:
youtube
But I think once the initial excitement of the new album wears off, this song is going to end up as my favourite:
youtube
I was on the bus to work yesterday when I first put this one on and had to change the track, because the bus is not an appropriate setting for being as emotionally moved as I was by a lyric like "Don't waste your days on dreams that don't fill you/Find out what you love, and let it kill you".
Anyway, I might need to start subscribing to some musician mailing lists or something. Because I'm not signing up for Spotify or Twitter but it is nice to actually find out about this stuff.

i do this thing where i write notes about my knowledge of a new media before starting it, my experience during it, and then my perspective after (if i finish)
separately, ive also been losing my mind about Outer Wilds for well over a week now. ive decided i want to share it
(if you notice that it's been years since ive posted on here no you didn't)
also if you haven't played the game, i recommended you do not read this and instead go download Outer Wilds
spoilers below
NOTES: Outer Wilds / before playing
- has that one song with annoying whistling that i always skip when it shows up on Spotify
- that one person i follow on Tumblr absolutely loves it it's like their favourite game
- seems like it might be emotional or something?
- uhhhh space aliens? i think??
NOTES: Outer Wilds / start playing

- don't fucking TouCH that thing it explodes worlds
- okay okay im getting good info i think def don't want to die this time unless i can save
- do i save at that one statue? let's try
- WAIT FUCK FUCK The World's exploding again WHY
- BUHHHH
- "you're lucky im in a timeloop because otherwise I'd be super dead" – LMAO OKAY I MAY BE WON OVER
- okay so the explosions are independent of me. im going back to that thing and fucking around w/ it
- ...
- 15 Hours Into Game
- brittle hollow and i are besties now
- the lore is intricate ain't it. at times i feel like i understand everything. at others im completely lost. if there's a strategy here i don't know it. im just compelled to explore
- the Southern Observatory kinda went off tho with that visual and music combo
- the Fucking Moon
- i got stuck in anglerfish overlook w/ rising sand and just had to wait to die by being scrunched on the ceiling. absolutely worst way to go was awful and i hated it
- 22 min......
- reading explanations that completely recontexutalizes things i'd took for granted or previously ignored is a trip and a half
- my worldview gets shattered every other loop, millions dead but don't worry death means nothing

- i don't know what else to do here
- giants deep whomst ive ignored
- THERES ANOTHER PERSON WHO STUCK IN THIS TIMELOOP WITH ME?
- !!!
- gabbro my beloved
- hhhngg these puzzles.. am i missing something. should i know it now. will i learn it later. the stupid watery core and electricity...
- ...
- 25 Hours Into Game
- i know this galaxy
- i know it intimately
- but there are some places that are just so stupidly challenging to get to. i get there once. i never want to have to do it again. (giants deep core– once. sun station– once. coleus' lakebed quantum cave– twice. centre of the interloper– twice. the vessel– once. high energy lab– twice.)
- ...
- quantum moon whoag
- uh hm what
- YOURE ALIVE
- solanum i love u
- "think of you as a friend" PLS CAN I HUG
- ...
- 30+ HOURS INTO GAME
- i figured out the ash twin core
- i chickened out of taking the thing to do other things instead. achievement hunting.
- it's simply much too scary. no fallback. what happens if no core, no loop
- oh
- .. oh
- fucking hell i didn't realize how much id become dependent on the safety net of a timeloop. of like, functional immortality
- the fear of the unknown. of something new. of actual death
- ...
- well then
- FINISHING MAIN GAME
- i took the core. i left the ash twin project.
- music immediately begins kicking up into something new and emotional and anticipatory
- I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS MORE TO DO
- i panic and warp back to ask twin project. return the core to the machine
- what a wuss. but i feel better
- think think think think
- where Have I Seen that before. the core
- okay i have an idea of what to do but. fear
- I PRACTICE. Practice! i do 3+ runs to test getting past those Fucking FISH

- screaming and crying
- BUT I SUCCEED
- whhhjhb whoaggh

- what
- what
- what
- a guy
- what
- ... euuuu cry mine friendsss
- ayy the fucking hell im emotional
- goddamn. What A Game. that music. holy shit
- ...
NOTES: Outer Wilds / post playing
- even as i did the ending there was still a small part of me that thought... i can save them
- ... (there will be a way to save them)
- there wasn't of course. and it hurt. but... not in a completely bad way
- it's like. the small flickering hope i felt at the end of all things, it still meant something. it still got me TO the end
- i know it was just a game but. it makes me think
- ...
- BONUS Saga of me accomplishing achievements: the fact that i later was able to break reality and also talk to myself in game was fun and cool and sexy
- i WILL be playing DLC but i need to recover

Audio
03/17/2023 Click here for Spotify or Apple Music. This is my 35th official release and honestly it comes too soon. I feel like I have enough work to justify this song but I don’t have the clout. By that I mean this track is the start of me talking about the rap game and making songs about other rappers. This is the precursor for “what now” which is an EP that drops April 14th.
“Breaking Bad” is an homage to Eminem and Dr Dre. I don’t know when Marshall will hear this. I think his fans will really like it. It’s basically a tribute to his discography. If you know Eminem’s work you’ll hear it. It gives reference to many of Marshall’s songs while giving my own perspective and the breaking bad theme. I wanted to make the song with a popular media reference that we both enjoy and goes with Em and Dre’s construct. The truth is I’ve listened to Marshall since grade school and probably know his discography better than any other artist. By consequence I “take” allot from him.
The first verse is to introduce why I’m doing this. My old artist name is Apollo. I’ve talked about it before on this blog but here is a link to the Edulution album. The hook is basically asking for a co-sign/ advance but the truth is It’s meant to be standoffish. Honestly I hope this will act as an application to be in the shady aftermath camp but I just wanted to make a track about the best duo in the game. I wanna go to shade 45 just to introduce myself, drop a nice letter and let them know it’s all love. Don’t come for me Marshall.
I’m not sexually attached to Marshall but in the song I wanted to create a type of Stan hysteria in the third verse for Marshall. It’s intentionally supposed to be fanatical so it makes Marshall think twice while being funny. “Pussy Poppin” is written and will probably come out next year along with “ scrumptious” (which is a working title). But I just wanted to point out that I sexualized my male peers before I did it to women.
The vocals were recorded at Crack Horse Recording in Lansing Michigan by TheyCallMeHeat. The track was mixed and mastered by Sam Peters at La Luna recording studio in Kalamazoo Michigan. The Beat is by tantubeats.com. The cover art was made by ArtworkGang from Fiverr. You can stream or download the track wherever music is sold. Thank you for your support. Be sure to follow because new music is released every week!
You can see me talk about this blog post and next week's release from the last Sunday Update

Lyrics:
I just want everyone to know that Marshall Mathers is my daddy They call me Apollo on the mic, and I’m so happy That Marshall wants to be Zeus cuz in greek mythology  Apollo was his son, and I’ll tell you what there ain’t no stop’n me When I was a little kid I dyed my hair like Eminem did  Blond top, suns hot, gunshots nonstop Listen to D12 one shot two shot Come’n from my bed room, feelin like 2Pac But I was just a white kid, scrawny and always honoree And I was one of the privileged kids, there was really nothing wrong with me But I found “Brain Damage,” and “As the World Turns” And was like “If I had a” million dollars I’d buy a fuckin purse Tuck my dick into my legs, cluck, and give birth  Be like all of these chickens that can’t rewrite his verse Reimagine the page using his words Cadence and slurs like were go’n berzerk (Hey Em) If I like what you written, you might get bitten It’s despicable, like Daffy Duck when I’m spittin  I’m here to keep Shady and Dre from feelin That Shady’s not here to save the children
Come on dawg, give it a chance What would it take, to make you advance Cuz I know you aren’t afraid, to take a stan Let me give you a little motivation to do what you can You can’t break bad without a chemist I am the one who knocks at the door of your business I’m a rider for the sound and hits, a writer and a scientist Like Jesse with it, cuz it’s time for science bitch
I remember get’n high in highschool listen’n to “Rain Man” For the first time, think’n we was brain dead High as a kite smoke’n listen to “Kim” Think’n “Is it gay to touch another man’s ass with your fist?” We met Brady, gotta guilty conscious Bought into the metaphors, melodies, constructs Love watch’n Em go off on the mic And hearin what beat Dr. Dre had derived Learned how to square dance (square dance with me)  and get down to business  How we ain’t got no time to play around, what is this  Say goodbye to Hollywood, cuz my dad’s gone crazy Would you please stand up for the real slim shady I think we’re approaching an age of the gross Just another episode on the yellow brick road If you’re proud to be out of my mind and out of control One more time, you know how it goes
I wanna say this shit right now while this fuck’n weed is in me I love you dawg, now let’s go make history  I could’a wrote a diss to see if you’d respond offensively Rather be a friend to me, don’t make me your enemy Cuz you know my Machiavelli  He lives on in the intelligently  Crafted written legibly  Poetry that I’m leveraging  I’m ball’n like Pluto Ya Gaia and Blue know Wit your cool flow I’ve fall’n for you, like Bruno And wanna suck Shady’s dick, like Ken Kaniff Get it back from Shaggy, while he’s take’n a shit That’s right pumpkin, you woke up to a blumpkin I wanna share the world with you and all your fuck shit (Marshall)  I bet your more afraid to love another man Take him by the hand, and make him understand (I love you) I love you Marshall, it don’t gotta be like this  We could run away together back where Dr. Dre lives
Come on dawg, give it a chance What would it take, to make you advance Cuz I know you aren’t afraid, to take a stan Let me give you a little motivation to do what you can You can’t break bad without a chemist I am the one who knocks at the door of your business I’m a rider for the sound and hits, a writer and a scientist Like Jesse with it, cuz it’s time for science bitch

luke or luke? (luke patterson x reader)
Tumblr media
a/n: so i’m adding my own twist to this prompt because i had this FABULOUS idea
word count: 1.2k
luke patterson masterlist
Tumblr media
I barely made it through the doors of the studio before I felt my feet sliding. I managed to stop myself from falling, just barely, as I surveyed the room.
The band was splashed around, Reggie messing with the bass while Luke pointed out something with a string, Alex sat almost upside down in a seat, then Julie sat in front of her opened laptop.
“Are you ready for the drop!”
Luke almost fell off the piano at the call of my voice but I ignored it and pranced next to Julie who had Spotify pulled up, refreshing every few seconds.
“Of course I am, I wouldn’t miss a 5SOS album drop,” she leaned back, attempting to keep her cool but I could tell by the energy around her she was just as excited.
“5SOS?” Alex sat up straighter, letting his chin rest in his palm as he spoke.
“It’s this band Julie and I’ve been obsessed with forever.”
I moved beside Julie, resting my feet on the soft cushions while the other two boys slowly gathered around us.
“Well you have a new band to be obsessed with now,” Luke pointed this thumbs to his chest, a goofy smile spread wide over his pink lips as he baked in his own glory.
“Hate to break it to ya Luke, but you are (Y/N) second favorite Luke in a band,” Julie giggled to herself.
I felt my jaw go slack as I looked at Julie, but she didn’t look ashamed at her words. The studio was no longer quiet as Reggie and Alex asked question after question, some normal and some weird. I looked at the time lit up on Julie's laptop and wasted no time pulling out my phone.
“It’s out!” I jumped from the couch with my fist in the air, smiling as each song downloaded then slamming my finger into the shuffle button.
Julie stood up beside me, Alex on her side and Reggie was almost leaning on me as we listened to the riff of a guitar strum echo off the walls that surrounded us, Luke’s humming made my heart melt just listening to it.
“I can do that!” Luke jumped up in front of me, his classic pout carved into his face as he looked to me but I pushed it aside. The lyrics filled the room, each person feeling differently towards the masterpiece.
“That doesn’t even rhyme!” I held my finger up, slamming it over Luke’s mouth and giving my best smile as I listened to the song. Reggie started tapping his foot, stepping on mine in the process, and Alex drummed his fingers on his thigh.
That’s when something in me broke, because the drumming came so naturally to the two band members and as they taped longer the more it sounded so similar to something I heard. Nothing close enough to be copied, but where it had an energy to it, like you’d hear it back to back on a playlist and think it was the same band.
I paused the song, which made Luke smile and the rest groan as they noticed the glitter in my eye.
“Luke, grab your guitar and play C Major,” I pointed to the sixth string in question.
“Want me to prove-”
“I want you to grab your guitar and play C Major,” I rolled my eyes, watching his smirk only grow wider as he basically bounced to his sixth string and easily played the chord I asked for. He kept basic strumming patterns and it was making more sense by the second.
“Reggie, play the same chord progression from Bright and Alex you play Now or Never,” the Flynn in me was lit up like a million candles, watching as the boys easily picked up their instruments without a second thought. Once the melody rang through the room, Luke started smiling and walking closer to Julie and I.
“You should have told us to play Crooked Teeth if you wanted,” he grew shoulder, winking at me but my head was so caught up as I turned to Julie.
“Sing the new 5SOS song.”
Julie shrugged, singing the few lyrics we heard seconds ago and within a few seconds Julie was smiling and nodding at me.
“I hear it!”
“Thank God,” I fell back to the couch, laughing as Reggie and Alex slowly picked up what I was putting down, Luke on the other hand was pouting more and more by the second.
“They copied us!”
“No, but you both sound similar,” Julie pointed out, taking the seat beside me with a little giggle after her words.
“We were playing before they were born!” Luke took on his sixth string, sitting on the glass table in front of me and grabbing my knee, his way of begging me to hear him out.
“Luke was born in 1996, what if he’s your reincarnation?” I wiggled my eyebrows, enjoying the rise I got out of him with such a simple topic. Alex clapped his hand on his shoulder, his smirk matching mine as he caught on.
“Good thing he kept the first name!”
Luke gasped, looking over his shoulder at Alex with his hand placed over his chest.
“I thought we were friend Mercer!”
“We are, unfortunately.”
Luke stood up, his pout never leaving as he stomped out like a child from the studio, our laughs filled behind him as he left us with our jokes and music. Once the laughter died down we realized he left, and it didn’t seem he was coming right back as we thought.
“Think we went too far?” Reggie rocked on his heels, his face dropping immediately.
“No, I think he’s just a little jealous. I’ll go after him,” I shrugged, not thinking much of the topic. Luke wasn’t this shallow, I had no doubt he just didn’t want to snap and make the situation worst so he left.
I left through the open garage doors, finding him slowly walk down Julie’s long driveway, shocked he didn’t poof away already. I jogged to the place beside him, smiling when I kept an easy pace with him.
“Do you really like that Luke more than me?”
“Nah, I like mine dead,” I smirked when he held back a laugh, I knew he would be perfectly fine.
The silence was nice as the breeze brushed our skin, the comfort of the little drumming from the distance and the perfect weather almost didn’t feel real.
“They do sound like Sunset Curve,” Luke kicked a small rock, finally turning to look at me for the first time since I raced after him.
“They do, but must I say I’ve listened to Sunset Curve more often. I’m like their groupie!”
Luke laughed, reaching his arm out so I joined him at his side. I always forgot how cold he could be whenever we touched, but I suppose that came with death. His finger trailed up my arm in comfortable shapes, a smile on both our lips.
“I still had a crush on Luke Hemmings first.”
That earned me a rough pinch to my arm, but the little smile on his face was worth it. I suppose I had a type anyways.

literally just complaining below the cut. tl;dr: apple uses iOS to control what iphone & ipad users can do with their products & it’s literally an evil of capitalist “innovation” & also it is causing me specifically problems.
i’m living in hell & it’s literally my own fault for owning an ipad & using tumblr but i literally want either for apple software designers to kill themselves or for the tumblr mobile app to run in a way that doesn’t suck. my problem is this: my ipad is a tablet that i use for a lot of my everyday activities. it has a keyboard & shit. IN THEORY, it should be capable of replacing my computer.
which it does, for some things, but there are a lot of things it can’t do because it runs on iOS (the apple mobile operating system) rather than the macOS, which is what apple computers run on. this means that while it is huge & beautiful & has great graphics or whatever, it’s got the technological capabilities of an iphone rather than a laptop. a few of the key differences: i cannot download applications unless they are offered by the apple store or unless i jailbreak my ipad. jailbreaking is the process of (paraphrased from wikihow to jailbreak an ipad) going against apple’s terms of service to access an ipad’s software & gain  superuser permissions & root access. the benefits of doing so are many & varied, many of which have to do with greater control over customization & the ability to run non-apple programs on the ipad.
BUT. i have not jailbroken my ipad because there are significant downsides, including but not limited to: it absolutely voids the warranty. it prevents updates to the existing operating system FOREVER like so if i were to jailbreak my ipad right now & then they finally fucking did something to improve the battery life drain of the OS, i couldn’t get it. & also straight-up if one does not know what one is doing with a jailbreak it could literally just make it stop working (which would literally be a disaster, given the whole Voids the warranty thing mentioned above). but i’m not happy about it. in fact: i am MAD because.
the reason that apple makes it like that is because it’s more profitable for them for multiple reasons. first, any applications purchased must run though the app store & they are taking a cut of that shit. no-brainer. but on another level it is training people to be more dependent on apple software & to accept the level of control apple has over any user activity in iOS. it’s like a chromebook level of bullshit. you cannot use anything that isn’t proprietary! insane! that’s literally the opposite of what a computer should do! & yet jailbreaking it would not solve all my problems because it would just create other, different problems.
so here i am. ipad unjailbroken & running on iOS. the reason that i am super fucking mad today is not even a huge problem but it is an issue that literally just does not exist on my actual laptop. the thing is: the tumblr app sucks & we all know it, & also it is optimized (for a given value of that, given how shitty it is) for…mobile…for a mobile phone. if you don’t have an ipad but do use the tumblr app on your phone, let me tell you: the ipad tumblr app is literally. like it’s a step down somehow. bad even by tumblr standards. so! i do not fucking use it. & because i don’t use the tumblr app, i run tumblr in a browser: the firefox app for iOS. here is my problem: iOS routes the tumblr messenger sound effects from the firefox app through the priority system like any other sound from a browser window, which means that if a new source of audio engages while one is running in the background from another program it pauses the old one on the assumption that the new one is supposed to replace the old one, which means that means that if i am listening to spotify & i get a tumblr message it pauses my song & doesn’t turn it back on even after the notif noise ends.
WHICH IS SOOOOOOO STUPID!! THAT’S SO FUCKING STUPID…it doesn’t even run the tumblr noise over the music or anything it just stops it. & get this. GET THIS. because i am accessing tumblr through a browser app, tumblr doesn’t let me turn off notification noises! i can’t even mute individual tabs like i would on desktop firefox because it’s a mobile app! if either apple OR tumblr were an iota more competent this wouldn’t be happening but they both suck shit & should die!!!!!!!!
if you read this far i love you & am kissing you on the lips. embarrassing that this is so long i had to put paragraph breaks but i DID; this post is dedicated to all nosy people who like to read their mutuals’ long ranting posts but also have ADHD. thankyou

Mini Discography Discussion: Age of Peace
While H.O.T officially released five albums, they had other projects they did as well. One of these side projects was a movie called Age of Peace.
Tumblr media
The Movie
Considering that H.O.T has had space/alien references since the Wolf & Sheep album promotions, it doesn’t seem that strange for them to do this - especially since futuristic space themes were big around the late 90s to 2000 - think of Zenon or Futurama.
Age of Peace was a movie starring H.O.T. It was basically the plot of Space Jam, but with soccer, a princess, and (allegedly) a dinosaur. It was released on July 15th, 2000 as Korea’s first 3-D movie and had a run-time of about 27 minutes. (Source) The film was only in select theaters for less than a week before it was pulled for being so bad and all film reels were destroyed. As you can guess, it never made it to home video, so that’s why there haven’t been any copies of this movie that have appeared anywhere online. Trailers and behind-the-scenes clips can be found on YouTube, but not the full film itself.
Even though a lot of money was sunk into this film and it involved top idols, it is surprising how poorly it was put together. We know this because recently Heejun and Tony talked about it and gave us the most comprehensive explanation for it to date. However, even though it was a train wreck, I’m sad that it wasn’t preserved and spread like Sechskies’ film Seventeen was. I know I would have loved to see Kangta fighting a dinosaur.
youtube
The Soundtrack
While the movie is probably lost, the soundtrack for it wasn’t. Surprisingly, when SM put H.O.T’s discography on streaming and digital download sites, they included this album as well. This is especially shocking considering that when SM wants to pretend like something didn’t happen, they make sure it’s gone forever.
Tumblr media
The soundtrack for the film gives us a good idea about what the film would have sounded like. There are 10 tracks on the album, but H.O.T themselves only appear on 3 tracks (two of which are the same song, but one is shorter). I assume they didn’t appear on more tracks this is because it was such a short movie and they were probably also working on Outside Castle around this time.
Unlike other Discography Discussions, I’m going to be talking about the tracks in the order they’re listed as in the album. The reason why is that since this album was for a movie, these tracks are probably in the order they appeared in the film.
(And I’ll also to attempt to try to figure out what the movie would have been like. If you see a sentence in italics, it means I’m talking about what I think would have happened in the film when that song was playing. I have nothing to base it on, it’s just me thinking of what a movie in that time period was usually set up like. >.>)
Age of Peace - Instrumental The opening track for the soundtrack is a very high-energy dance song. It definitely sounds like it would be at the start of the movie to set the tone for it.
I assume that this would be when opening credits were going on while showing off the setting.
OP.T (Operation Takeover) This is the title track for the album and one of the tracks H.O.T appear on. It is also high-energy, but unlike “Age of Peace - Instrumental”, it doesn’t sound as dark. It talks about having to will to hang on and not give up. There’s a bit of a challenge there, as one of the lyrics says, “Get out my way huh what ya gonna say y′all punks?”. The word protect is used twice in this song, and two parts of the song seem to refer to a relationship:
I've always been waiting, I was where you weren't I had to live in your last tears Now I can breathe from the long longing. Help me I am, I am alive in your heart
Also, I think it’s interesting how it ends with a garbled noise that sounds like it could have been from an alien.
Finally, for those of you who are big SM Conspiracy fans, you might be interested to know that cloning was mentioned as well: “Are you in a life that has been cloned now?“
(Lyrics Source)
I think this song would be going on when H.O.T is playing soccer to set up characters and that they’re good at soccer or something else that would be referenced later. It could also possibly be when the princess (played by Dana) would be introduced and a small connection to Kangta would be made. However, considering the title of the song, this might be when the bad aliens arrive. OP.T was probably the alien’s code name for their conquest.
OP.T, Pt. 1 - ‘사투 (死鬪)’ This track is purely instrumental and sounds like it’s meant to be at a crucial pivot to the story. 사투 means a desperate struggle or a fight to the death. Fun fact: 死鬪 is the Hanja for that, and “死” means death (if you see this character in Japanese or Mandarin, it means the same thing too). So basically, the title wants to make sure you understand that it’s not just a regular fight, it’s a rumble with serious and deadly consequences.
I think this would be when the stakes for the game against the aliens would be introduced. This would be when H.O.T would find out that if they fail, not only they would die, but also the princess and whoever else was around.
OP.T, Pt. 2 - ‘ZEUS’ This track is also instrumental and sounds kind of cool. The title of this track is probably referring to the alien’s soccer team that was called Zeus (which we know from the trailers).
This might be when Zeus was introduced and H.O.T finally saw their opponents for the first time. I also think this might have been when they received more information about how to win and save everyone.
THE BEST This track features H.O.T and is probably aimed towards Zeus. It’s really upbeat and reminds me of EXO’s “El Dorado”. Part of the lyrics are about how they’re gonna win and there’s a feeling of hopefulness. However, some of the lyrics aren’t so sweet (for example: I'm gonna send ya straight to hell where you lose your soul).
I think this is during the first part of the soccer match. I believe this because the lyrics reference Tony and we know that at one point he gets injured during the match, so maybe him being down would put a fighting spirit into H.O.T or this would lead to Kangta running off. I think this would come towards the end of the scene when they’re ready to fight back considering the lyrics, “I can't withdraw anymore as much as the courage inside me, starting my own brilliant rebellion.”
TTTrack, Pt. 1 (Techno Time Track, Pt. 1) This is an instrumental track that sounds very digital.
Considering the title, I think this could be when Kangta goes back in time to rescue the princess. I mainly think this way because the title makes sense when you think about the (supposed) dinosaur Kangta had to fight. On another note, it would make more sense for Kangta to go back in time to fight a dinosaur than for the aliens to bring one with them, to be honest. The only actual antagonist we know about is Zeus, but it’s possible that there were other aliens involved schemed beyond the soccer game. We also know the princess was in trouble at some point and Kangta had to defend her, so it was probably during this. Kangta/Dana’s scenes were probably between showing what was going on to the rest of H.O.T during his absence.
TTTrack, Pt. 2 (Techno Time Track, Pt. 2) This track sounds very similar to the first part.
I think this could be wrapping up Kangta’s little adventure and him returning to H.O.T to help save the day. I assume there’s only so much time you can spend time traveling before it gets old.
OP.T (From ‘3D MOVIE Concert’ Scene) This is the shortened version of “OP.T” from earlier. There are multiple videos on YouTube that claim to be the official MV for this, but they’re all cut differently. It’s possible that SM released multiple different ones, but I think it’s possible that at least one of them is just a fanvid.
From the clips and the title of the song, it appears like at some point H.O.T actually did have a concert during the movie. To me, the clips make it look like it was at the beginning of the movie, so it’s possible that this was during the beginning of the film to introduce H.O.T instead of the soccer game theory I had earlier. If that’s the case, then it means H.O.T are singers who get roped into playing the soccer game for some reason. Either way, this is hilarious. Imagine your favorite idol group or sports team getting dragged into playing a game to decide who wins a war between two countries. This reminds me of that kid president book, haha. However, it’s also possible that this was at the end to celebrate their win. We know for certain that this whole song appeared somewhere in the film, but just not when or why specifically.
OP.T - Instrumental As you can guess from the title, this is the instrumental version of “OP.T”. It’s over 3 minutes long, so it’s the long version, not the short “OP.T (From ‘3D MOVIE Concert’ Scene)” one.
Considering that it’s an instrumental track, it probably came up either at the end of the film or as part of the ending credits. However, it also might not have made an appearance at all and is just for the soundtrack.
THE BEST - Instrumental This one probably has a similar situation to the other one, so I’m not going to repeat my comments.
Secret Videos? As I was doing research for this album, I noticed something interesting on the Naver Music page for it.
Tumblr media
On Naver Music, it lists four additional tracks that aren’t on the digital album I own. These tracks aren’t available on iTunes or Spotify either. However, these aren’t MP3s, they’re mpg and avi files. Which means that they were video files. Interestingly, the titles of the clips mention 2D and 3D. Naver doesn’t have a link to them, so you can’t download or stream them. My theory is that they were short clips of the movie on the physical copies of the album. Especially considering that I remember getting CDs around this time that did something similar, where a player would come up with images, music from the album, and a clip of the MV for the title track. However, this is just a guess unless someone with an actual physical copy can say for sure.
Conclusion
Age of Peace the movie was basically a fever dream right before the release of H.O.T’s final album (Outside Castle). While the film itself is probably lost to time, we can at least be grateful that this soundtrack still exists. Also, unlike other SM blunders, this one is harmless and fun to speculate about.

Name:  Robyn.
Happy with it? I am now, but I certainly wasn’t as a kid. Other kids were cruel and would tease me solely for my name, which made it hard for me to socialize. I got the same bad Batman jokes too many times and I also got called a boy. These seem petty now, but as a kindergartener adjusting to life in school, it had been traumatizing and made me wonder if my classmates were going to remain the way they were for the long run which no 4-year-old should be mulling about, really.
Do you wear stilettos? When I get the chance, which isn’t very often at all. But I do love stilettos.
How important are looks to you? I find this question very vague, but generally looks matter to me to a certain extent, like how I’d want to look nice and proper for a job interview or for formal occasions such as weddings. Relationship-wise, I also think I have to feel a level of physical attraction towards someone for me to consider seeing them.
How often do you download music? I don’t anymore. I stream all my music.
Can you name a philosopher? Socrates.
What would you do if two unicorns tried to whisk you off to candy mountain? I just looked this up and this is apparently in reference to an ancient viral video, like it was around before viral videos were even a universally-acknowledged concept. That said, I don’t have a clue how to respond to this lmao.
You became the deciding vote in an election, which party would you go for? I don’t base my voting decisions on parties because the party system in my country is a tragically broken shitstorm in which every single party rallies the same values and principles, just executed in their own – and usually poor and unsustainable – ways. I do my research on each candidate, see how they answer in debates, look at laws they’ve authored, see which marginalized groups they proactively support (if they do), and decide from there.
Do you have a bzoink account? I don’t but I’ve been a semi-regular visitor since like 2009.
How many phone calls do you typically make in a day? Zero. People usually call me.
What song are you listening to? Tell Me It’s Okay by, surprise surprise, Paramore.
Do you understand things others your age do not? I don’t know. Maybe. Everyone’s bound to understand some things better than others.
Do you hate people that label themselves? Why would I hate that? And why would their chosen label be my business?
How many windows do you have open? None. There’s plenty of mosquitoes at night, so even though the cold evening air would been pleasant to have we have to keep the windows closed by nighttime.
How superstitious are you? Not at all.
If you were in Harry Potter, which house would you be in? I’ve been told either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw.
Which comedian can always crack you up? It’s not a habit of mine to watch comedians.
Are you nagged about being on the computer too much? Not since I was a teenager. Since college I’ve been doing most of my work, if not all of it, through my laptop, and I think my parents understand that I have to use it all the time.
Do you feel bad about anything you've done lately? Nothing comes to mind, no.
What's your texting bill typically like? My SIM is prepaid, so it works the other way around. I put load credits in it only if I know I’ll have to call/text/surf regularly.
What song did you/do you want played at your wedding? Turning Page by Sleeping At Last.
Do you have a lot or hardly any lines on your palms? Idk, a decent amount I guess? I don’t think it hits either extreme.
What's your favourite word? Poignant.
Are you allowed to swear in front of your parents? Yeah. They’ll shoot me a glare sometimes, but I’m in my 20s and...they know they can’t really do anything about it anymore lol.
Do you eat apples? No.
What are your addictions? Coffee, I suppose.
What are some words you use in daily life? I use intensifiers often, like very, really, super, absolutely, etc. I’m also big on expressions hahaha like oh my god, seriously, for real, and ugh.
Do you look things up on Google constantly? Yes.
Where do you get your music from? Spotify. Sometimes YouTube if I wanna look for a leak.
What do you think of people with afros? That they are people with afros...? I don’t really know what you’re looking for me to say, lmfao.

survey by charey-chas
Do you like getting your picture taken? Not for the most part. My body instantly gets all frozen and awkward when a camera’s placed in front of me, which I hate because I do wish I could have more photos of myself around. Is your phone anywhere near you? It is not, actually. It feels great and I really should start making it a habit to keep it away from me entirely on weekends. Do you ever enjoy going to school? In my first school, I enjoyed going mainly (and probably only) for my friends; but Catholic school was predominantly a torturous experience. The rigidity isn’t something I look back fondly on, and it felt like being kept on a tight leash for 14 years. College was a lot more enjoyable in every way possible. I liked going to (most of) my classes and learning as much as I loved the vibrant org culture and the general freedom that comes with university life. Have you ever gone on a road trip? Lots. The Philippines is a relatively small country and unless you want to jump to a different island altogether, there are many provinces you can readily travel to by car.  Who do you get along with best in your family?  Nina, my sister. Then my dad. I clash a lot with my mom and I don’t talk to my brother. Based on your personality, what animal do you think you'd be? Cats and I don’t get along very well hahaha but I think I’m similar to them. Would you ever buy anything from an infomercial? Maybe once, just to be able to say that I have. Have you ever made a snow angel? No, because I’ve never seen snow before. Have you stayed in a hotel in the last month? No. We had a brief getaway in Tagaytay but we switched things up and went to rent a condo, instead of book a hotel room, for a weekend. What's your most comfortable outfit? If I want to go for comfortable, I usually go for my rompers or jumpsuits. Do you text or IM more? IM these days. Would you rather listen to music or play it? Listen. I have no music-playing skills whatsoever. Have you ever been in a hot tub? Sure. Do you like pizza? LOVE IT Are you sleeping in your own bed tonight? Yes. If not here, the couch. But most likely it will my bed tonight. Are any of your friends having a sleepover right now? I doubt it. Angela and Hans had an overnight stay in Batangas a few days ago for their Valentine’s shenanigans though, which I guess kinda counts as a sleepover. Have you ever been to a house party? I don’t think so. That’s something I missed out on in my college days, but I don’t mind. Do you listen to your iPod or the radio when you're in the car? I think I keep a good balance. If my phone’s battery is not very high I’ll rely on the radio; and sometimes I’ll sync my phone’s Spotify to the car as well.

survey by charey-chas
What song is stuck in your head at the moment? RAVI’s BUM. What's your fathers' middle name? He doesn’t have a second name, but I’m not sharing his legal middle name on here either. How many hours a day do you spend on the computer? On work days, I’d say 8-10 hours. On weekends, maybe a little slightly less than that since I do like getting off the laptop sometimes to rest my eyes. Could you live without the internet? People from the past managed to live without it, so I know I can. It would just be extremely inconvenient; and having been dependent on it for such a long time now, I would likely be clueless on how to navigate most activities. What's something you're really into? Learning about cultural differences!! That’s why reading survey answers has always been fascinating to me. I would love a website that dives into the various everyday behavior people observe in other countries, but the ones that do exist use like 20- or 30-year-old sources, so they aren’t even relevant at all anymore. What's the last movie you saw in theaters? Knives Out. Have you ever seen a movie in 3D or in an IMAX theater? Just once. It was Denise and Leigh’s 18th birthday treat and they brought us to watch Doctor Strange in 3D. Do you prefer skirts, shorts, or skorts? Shorts. Have you ever vandalized? Just a few school chairs in grade school, but otherwise I’m too paranoid for vandalism lol. What's the longest you've stayed up? Maybe a little longer than 24 hours. Who'd you have a sleepover with last? Gabie. When's the last time you baked something? Nearly a decade ago. Our oven was new at the time and I wanted to try baking cookies. Do you like to dance? When I’m alone. Do you scratch mosquito bites, even though you're not supposed to? Yup. Are you afaid of spiders or do you like them? I mean I’m not fond of them, but I also don’t scream and run away when I see them. I just don’t care for them for the most part. What's a pet you've always wanted? I’ve only ever wanted dogs, and now I’ve got two of them. Do you like mice? Not really. Would you ever get a tattoo? Sure. I’ve been considering it for a while now; it’s just a matter of being able to save up for one. Do you prefer to walk in the street or on the sidewalk? Street, if it’s bare and safe enough. Otherwise if I’m in a busy city with regulations and all I’d obviously rather be on the sidewalk. What's your favorite t-shirt? My CM Punk Best in the World merch. Who did you last think about? I remembered Deina when I was thinking about the tattoo question. She got a pawprint tattoo on her wrist shortly before her senior dog passed away and ever since learning about it I’ve also been thinking about getting the same tattoo. Do you like giving hugs? I love giving hugs and it’s an automatic response for me whenever I see someone I love, which is why Covid is such a torture for me. Do you prefer hardwood flooring or carpeting? Hardwood. Did you/will you get a car for your 16th birthday? No. I got a car when I was 17, around six months before I started college. Have you ever eaten a worm? No but I’d be willing to try.

Kidge #28: Celebrity/Fan Au
This was requested by @jood-89
I am sorry for the very late request, but I finally got it done! Also I am not a normal human being that knows how to meet celebrities since I have never done so or desired to do so. I also have never gone to any comic cons or any meet ups with huge crowds since I am a antisocial person, so I hoped I did alright. Sorry for any grammar errors!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first time Pidge has ever heard of Keith Kogane was from her brother Matthew. Or more like she was yelling at her brother to turn down his rock music because she had a headache that night. It wasn’t until after her headache that she went up to him with an odd look. “Why were you listening to rock anyway? I thought you hated it?”
“I do actually.” Matt had admitted as he shrugged. “But Shiro has me listening to this new rock person and I actually like his music. He’s not to bad, plus his music has a wicked beat that helps me work faster.”
“Right okay.” She had replied, nodding slowly as she stifled a laugh while her brother rolled his eyes.
“It doesn’t matter anyway. You will never understand.”
That time she did laugh as her brother huffed, crossing his arms as if he was an eight year old child instead of a genius that is going to the top school in the state. “Do you even know what he looks like then?” She managed to wheeze out, laughing harder when Matt sputtered before whipping out his phone.
“Of course I do. He’s short with black hair, a normal human being with wicked skills.” Matt grumbled before he chucked his phone at her. “There. Now you know what he looks like too.”
It was a good thing that her brother was the only one around as she flailed her arms around, catching the phone with a glare directed at her brother as she brought the phone up to her face. Then proceeded to die right there on the spot. A normal human being her brother said. Yes, a normal human being that was far too attractive for their own good.
“He’s alright I suppose.” She mumbled, chucking the phone at Matt’s head as he cackled. “A normal human being.”
Matt wheezed as he fell back onto the bed, yelping when she chucked the nearest object at him. She hummed in satisfaction while walking out of the room, snickering when she heard her brother call out. “That was uncalled for!”
“Of course it was. Throwing random objects at your sibling is in the job description!” She yelled out, ignoring their father’s bewildered looks.
“Do I even want to know?” Sam asked before he shook his head. “Nevermind, as long as you two are not murdering each other it’s all good.”
She really had to wonder how all of this started. Matt had teased her all about that one moment in time where she blushed like a school girl over Keith Kogane’s picture. Which she just shrugged off because hey, she had eyes of course he was attractive.
But then it got worse. She was scrolling through YouTube, bored and looking for new music. Matt always scoffed, telling her to switch to Spotify which is what all the cool kids are doing but she wasn’t willing to pay the monthly fee, even if it was cheap. She saw one of his music videos and sighed.
She supposed it wouldn’t hurt as she clicked onto the video. That was her major downfall.
Next thing she knew, she had downloaded all his songs, pulled up videos all about him and started reading about his life. In a way she was obsessed but not to the point where she had posters up on her wall. Matt would never let her life that down and she wasn’t ready to give him blackmail for the future.
Now her brother was laying on her bed, grinning at her wickedly. “Guess what Katie.”
She gave a huge sigh, contemplating if she really could get away with his murder before she glared at him. “What?”
“Keith Kogane is giving a performance here in the next few months.”
“Cool.”
Matt sat up bewildered. “Cool?”
“Yes cool.” She said as she turned back to the book she was reading. If he was expecting her to squeal in delight he had a whole other thing coming. She does not squeal. “Where exactly?”
“Oh so you are interested.”
“Shut up and tell me where.” She huffed out and Matt laughed.
“Look it up. Now if you will excuse me, I have exams to study for.”
She couldn’t help the groan that escaped from her without her permission as Matt once again laughed at her. Which was becoming a common occurrence much to her annoyance. Even if she wanted to go she couldn’t, she had far to much to do. Or did she?
Maybe she could just go to one show and see what he is truly like up close. Then maybe she will get out of this odd funk that she found herself in. It really was simple, all she had to do was show up, see that he is an asshole like all the others and get turned off and find something else to focus on that was much more useful to her life.
Oddly enough, she had that gut feeling that it was only going to get worse.

03/10/2023 Click here for Spotify or Apple Music. This is my 34th official release. “I Got You” is a song that is more personal and about my career as an artist. This song is basically a letter to my fans talking about the struggle and asking for their support. You can really help by buying a track but all my music is free on YouTube and all I’m really asking is that you share my music. You can make all the difference by recommending my music, putting it on a playlist, or requesting it to be played.
Like I said in the “Blow Me Up” post, I spend my money on production and don’t have the funds to promote so I’m really depending on you to share my music. Even if I did promote, the whole goal is for word of mouth to take over. This was also a song of righteous indignation considering my perseverance in releasing consistently for going on 3 years.
The track is just blatantly honest about my economic situation. Basically, I  can’t live without you, the fan. I spend all my money on music to the point I have to pick between promotion and clothes or more production or supplements. I talk about the American economy, especially healthcare and how it has affected my life. I would have a full-time job if America had universal healthcare or if I lived in another country. The truth is I can’t afford to have a life because I spend all my money on music while I can’t work for it because I’m limited on earned income and my labor power is exploited because big pharma has the biggest lobby in Congress and lobbies for privatized healthcare. Healthcare should be a not-for-profit industry like it was before Nixon. These are the reasons I’m always on Twitter talking about how America is a POS and should go screw itself. It also has to do with inequality which is pretty well encapsulated by this rigged economy tweet.
I don’t usually sing because I don’t know how, but my producer makes me sound good. I really hope the listeners and my fans understand my plea, embrace my vulnerability, feel my message, Vibe with it, and share my tracks.
The vocals were self-recorded. The track was mixed and mastered by Sam Peters at La Luna recording studio in Kalamazoo Michigan. The beat is by ThatKidGoran. I wrote this on December 5th 2022 in about 30 to 60 minutes. This is one of those tracks I felt like I had to make about my life and Career while poverty-stricken and before any real exposure or opportunity. This is basically the song I made asking my fans for help after putting in years of work with no real reward, recognition, or attention.
You can stream or download the track wherever music is sold. Thank you for your support. Be sure to follow because new music is released every week!
You can see me talk about this blog post and next weeks release in this early Sunday Update

Lyrics:
I love ya, I need ya I can’t live I love ya, I need ya I can’t live, without you I love ya, I need ya I can’t live I love ya, I need ya I can’t live, without you
This a track for the fans to help them understand What this like for me, and how they can help Look I left it in my raps, the stories and the path The book goes into depth, but I’ll tell you what I lack  Support for the tracks Like playlist ads You didn’t even share it with your dad Or your driver in a cab How am I supposed to make it When I can’t afford the craft With the obstacles I’m faced with I’ll tell you how I get the bag Purchase my tracks And I’ll reinvest the money What I currently make is $20 monthly They say America’s great But I don’t see it All these people get paid For less than I’ve done in a season Hard not to be bitter Like how are they so much better than me How did they get lucky And I’m still struggling I thank the fans for their support But I’m really rather poor So If you wanna help me win Please go and share this with a friend And say
I got you, I got you, I got you, just don’t quit Keep rollin, keep rolling, keep rolling, we got this We’re doing alright, we’re feeling okay As long as I got you we’re doing great I got you, I got you, I got you.
I’m on that slow grind, to grow mine And end up with a gold mine. But that all that depends on you To make it shine on through I’m never gonna make it Unless you help with a payment I’m poor and afflicted With monetary restrictions so Every dollar I spend is an economic decision Between promotion and production Clothes or some supplements It must be nice, to have the money to buy  Your necessities and still have money to thrive Bankrupting America Is how healthcare’s designed And it affects every part of my life The government exploits labor power cuz their controlled by the rise Of big business and lobbying To exploit the price Of money in politics that creates a divide Between left and right, when classism really the fight So I teach them all pragmatically To reach for truth and practically Know what I’ve been rapping please So my fans can rap this back to me like
I got you, I got you, I got you, just don’t quit Keep rollin, keep rolling, keep rolling, we got this We’re doing alright, we’re feeling okay As long as I got you we’re doing great Cuz I got you, I got you, I got you.
And I’ll be there for you When you need someone to see you through You can count on me To bring you back up to speed Help make you see What you have to be Just ask yourself and agree To love yourself and seek Purpose in adversity  and happiness in the journey You listenin now, you’re my boss All this music has a cost And if you don’t support it I’m at a loss So let me ask you what I’m doing wrong Frankly I don’t have the money to open shop yet So let me ask, why don’t I got it  You could make all the difference By just tuning in and listen’n in Put my song on playlist All I wanna hear US say is
I got you, I got you, I got you, just don’t quit Keep rollin, keep rolling, keep rolling, we got this We’re doing alright, we’re feeling okay As long as I got you we’re doing great Cuz I got you, I got you, I got you.

12/24/2020 DAB Transcript
Zechariah 6:1-7:14, Revelation 15:1-8, Psalms 143:1-12, Proverbs 30:24-28
Today is the 24th day of December, Christmas Eve. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is a joy to be here with you today. Christmas Eve, Christmas day, your birthday, New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July…I'm naming all the holidays that are…that are in the country that I live in, but there's holidays all over the world and no matter what day it is we still have a rhythm. It’s Christmas Eve and we have a rhythm. We’re coming together on Christmas Eve. Even though we’re all over the world we get to be together for these moments on Christmas Eve. And, so, as we take our places around the Global Campfire let’s just look around. I mean, I know we have to do this kind of in spirit in our imaginations but just look across the fire and see your brothers and sisters. We are here. It's Christmas eve we are a year together and it’s a joy to be here together with you as we take the next step forward. And, so, that next step will lead us back into the book of Zechariah. And a couple days ago when we began Zechariah, we talked about how it had eight night visions in it and how the symbolism in the book of Zechariah is not dissimilar to the symbolism in the book of Revelation. So, we have read through over the last couple of days seven of those night visions, and we will conclude today with the eighth vision. We won’t be concluding Zechariah, but the final night vision is in today's reading. So, we’re reading from the New English Translation. Zechariah, chapters 6 and 7.
Commentary:
Okay. On this Christmas Eve we read in the book of Revelation of a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had conquered the beast, the beast figure in the Apocalypse of John or the book of Revelation, they’re standing by this sea of glass mixed with fire and they have harps, and they sing a song. And…and let's make this song…even though this isn’t like “joy to the world the Lord has come, let Earth receive her King” this isn’t “silent night holy night”, this is a song coming from the future coming after victory has been accomplished sung back to us today on Christmas Eve.
Prayer:
Father, this is Christmas Eve and this is the last day of waiting and…and midnight comes and, yeah, this is all traditional and this is our rituals, but it comes and then we realize new dawn is coming, everything has changed, You have arrived, we are saved. And, so, we pray along with our brothers and sisters in the future. “Great and astounding are Your deeds Lord, God the all powerful. Just and true are Your ways. King over the nations. Who will not fear You, oh Lord and glorify Your name because You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before You for Your righteous act of been revealed. Thank You, Father. We enter into the mystery of Your arrival as we enter into Christmas celebration. And of the many postures that we have considered about how to behave toward one another over these coming days, we need to consider our posture toward You throughout all of it. And right now, our posture should be that of absolute basically speechless awe. We were wandering in the dark without hope and You would not abandon us to the dark. And, so, You came as a great light into this world to rescue humanity, but to also model for humanity what it is supposed to look like, what it could and should and must become. And then You invited us to be a part of that story, the redemption of all things. And what can we say to that? When we truly get a glimpse of that it makes us feel almost embarrassed for the childishness that we exhibit so often, the self-absorption that we exhibit so often. And yet You have invited us into the biggest story of all, the story of the God of the universe, the story of the most-high God, the redeemer of everything that He touches. And You have touched us, and we are redeemed and that changes everything. And then You have commissioned us to go in Your name and share the good news and be a part of the redemptive story. And, so, this is what we’re thinking about right now, Yeah, we got a lot of stuff to finish up and we got church tonight. There are all kinds of things going on, but this is what we’re holding onto as we continue the activity of the day. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is home base, it is the website, it’s where you find out what's going on around here.
It's Christmas eve, so that is what's going on around here and we should be just soaking in it. I mean probably we’re busy…just all the little things that have to get done and preparation and then maybe preparation for candlelight services tonight depending on where we are. Lots of places that’s not even a possibility. And, so, we…we will be participating in a virtual candlelight service tonight. Jill will be singing O Holy Night, which you can stream anywhere like, Spotify or Apple music or whatever, or download. So, check that out. But she’ll be singing that tonight and we’ll post links on our social media channels for those of you who aren’t able to attend a candlelight service this evening, or for safety reasons aren’t going to. We’re going to be participating in a virus free candlelight service. So, we’ll post links to that.
And then, yeah, I don't know what all the traditions out there for Christmas Eve are. For us we’ll be gathering together as a family, enjoying a meal together, and just enjoying a fire, be playing some games, just getting ready for tomorrow when we…when we really truly joy to the world rejoice that the Lord has come and put ourselves in that position of the longing, the weight is over, the longing, the Savior has come while at the same time understanding that we’re still waiting, we’re waiting for the second arrival. And, so, this is a fantastic joyous day, a couple of days we’re we really, really sink our hearts into what's happening here, that this changes everything. And you can even feel it. Every year we get that glimpse because the world…the world takes note the hearts of people who are even not religious or not even believers or don't want anything to do with it. Everyone takes note of a lift in our spirits, good will toward one another. And maybe that's got all of its challenges this year. Maybe we’ve been apart for so long that we don't know how to be together or maybe we’re being kept apart and so it just doesn't feel as personal, but it's still there. It hovers. It comes like a season doesn't it? It just comes. There's the first winds of Christmas off in the distance. Once it starts to get cold, off in the distance it’s like we are headed toward this day. And, so, happy merry joyous Christmas eve to you. May you sense the power of what we’re talking about here, that God…God the most-high, the Creator, the supreme…like what words could we use. God came to earth in person to redeem and restore and reveal what life can and should look like for us. And, so, let's enjoy every moment of this.
I love you. I’m Brian merry Christmas I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Community Prayer and Praise:
Hey DAB family it’s His __ here calling from the UK. Today’s the 18th of December and I just heard Quiet Confidence’s message coming through. Oh Lord I just pray over quiet confidence in this moment, just the sadness and the loss that I feel in her voice Lord. She feels so lost in away from the Lord and she’s begging to go home, but Lord I just pray in this moment that you fill her up with your strength, you fill her up with your love and you fill her up with your confidence. In this very moment Lord, Father God, this confidence that she so speaks about. And Lord I just pray again that, you know, even though you love her to come home with you, even though you want or they are in heaven, that you have a purpose for her on this earth, you have such a big purpose for her to just continue on Lord father God, continue on even when she feels lost, even…even when she feels afraid, even when she feels that she is nowhere near you when she’s away from you father God. That you are the closest to her, you are the closest to her that that you’ve ever been Lord father God and that she’s just hanging on. May she just hang on with all her strength. Quiet Confidence me you just keep on hanging on because there’s still something for you. God will call you when…when you’re ready. God will call you when He’s ready to take you up but for now He wants you here on this earth for anything and everything that you can give even if it’s coming out of this…this…this…this lowness that you feel even if it’s you know it’s just…just showing people that you can endure, that you can come back from…from the sadness, from this loss. I pray in Jesus’ name that you find the courage. I pray that you come out of this and I’m just sending all your love to you. Your husband’s there for you, your family and so were we the DAB. Take care. Bye.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family this call is in response to a call that I heard at the end of the December 18th podcast specifically for Quiet Confidence in Virginia. O sister in faith you…thank you for your vulnerability and thank you for reaching out. Lord just makes me want to pray for her because I felt compelled to call. Heavenly Father thank You thank, You for the gift of life and community. Thank You for people that are here, that are willing to bear the burden of prayer. Lord we come lifting up Quiet Confidence and any other person that’s in the same boat, that’s in the same position right now, walking through challenges with their mental and spiritual health. God we ask humbly that first and foremost You forgive us for any sins, forgive us for any opportunities that we may have given the enemy to attack us and to connect us. God we just ask that You lead us through, deliver for us. Lord You are our delivery. You said in Your word that You are not only near to the broken hearted a broken reed You will not despise but Lord You’ve come literally into this world to deliver us. Lord we pray and ask that You touch Quiet Confidence’s mind, her heart, her spirit. We ask Lord that You grant her an unusual faith, an unusual hope an unusual trust in You that will combat the lies of the enemy and in the name of Jesus Satan rebuke You, rebuke You. We rebuke and buffet the attacks that would come to destroy Quiet Confidence’s life and her purpose…
Hi family it’s Shannon from Texas and I already have the best news. My son went to court this morning and let me tell you after a night from hell I could literally write a book about the battle that we’ve had coming up to this point. The three different times he’s been on probation since he was 14, he’s 23 now just battle after battle after battle. I could write a book. Anyway, the judge as he talked to him on the phone, he said that the judge actually prayed with him…and rehab is not something that they do in the area that he’s on probation and he wasn’t even in the area he was supposed to be and he had responded and I tried to report that they didn’t seem to care they didn’t even normally offer rehab. The judge prayed with him and told him he would’ve no…he could see that he was not a liar and that he had integrity he had a family that cared about him and that he would send him away for 8 to 10 years if he saw him again, but he knew that he was going to get it right and that he was gonna send him to six months of rehab. I cannot tell you I have never heard such good news in my entire life. My son said he was in there crying and I just…he said that he has just…this is something he hasn’t been able to break free from and it definitely has gotten worse lately after some deliverance prayer. So, you know, we can’t speak life out of one side of my mouth and death outside the other and that’s something we’ve really…I’m working on we’ve all got to work on. I love you guys thank you for praying. Love you love you. Bye.

4, 5, 7, 10, 13, 15, 16, 17, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, 36, 39, 40, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 59, 60 [Which do you prefer between Knb and Haikyuu?] for the ask you recently reblogged please?
4. what are you looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to school starting again, even if it's just a weird hybrid of online/flipped classes, I miss my teachers and like, being productive. also if I'm in class I can't be worked borderline inhumane hours right…. right??
5. is there anyone who can always make you smile?
yeah, my roommate. she always either knows how to cheer me up, or blunders around trying to find the right method to the point that it's funny and I end up smiling anyway. she's really awesome like that.
7. what was your life like last year?
it had a lot of ups and downs. I had a great job, but the people I worked with eventually made it toxic and awful. I was doing really well in school, but stressed all the time, had an awesome relationship but kind of ruined it w my anxiety, and had serious roommate issues that made me afraid to leave my bedroom or even come home, sometimes. I remember a lot of very high highs and very low lows especially in the fall/winter of that year.
10. are you good at hiding your feelings?
well, yes and no… I don't tend to show a lot of emotion to begin with, but what I do show, I'm basically incapable of hiding, and apparently I'm a terrible liar bc my face gives me away.
13. how do you feel right now?
I'm pretty alright… kind of anxious, kind of tired, but that's just been the status quo lately tbh.
15. personality description
already answered, so I suppose I'll elaborate. I'm simultaneously like, the most confident and the most self-doubting person I know... like there are certain things I'm super certain of and times when I feel no shame, and there are others where I'll just shrivel into a ball of anxiety and mortification and never come out. in the same vein, I'm simultaneously very trusting and open and very wary and cautious with people… it really depends on the situation and the person I think, I'm a very "you get out what you put in" person.
16. have you ever wanted to tell someone something but you didn't?
yeah, I’m still holding onto things I’ve wanted to tell certain people tbh… I used to be a lot more forthcoming and not worry about the consequences of what I had to say, but now that I’ve seen what power words have to ruin relationships and impact people I tend to hold back quite a bit.
17. opinion on insecurities
I have… many, but I understand that I shouldn't and am working on the ones I do have. I think feeling insecure can lead to some of the most ugly, toxic emotions and responses in certain people, so I'm trying to be conscientious of that.
23. fear(s)
um let’s see… jump scares, the dark (sometimes), corners I can’t see around, drowning/suffocating, pain, failure, losing control...
27. things I hate
wet socks, sunburn, acne, willful ignorance, bigotry, excessively negative people… uh… idk hate's a strong word that's all I've got
28. I'll love you if…
if you are genuinely, authentically yourself. if you’re the kind of person I can feel comfortable and at ease with. if you show me patience and compassion and make an effort to know me and let me know you… then yeah you’re never getting rid of me.
29. favorite film(s)
The Road to El Dorado, Into the Spider-verse, Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirit, Life of Pi, The Truman Show, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
30. favorite tv show(s)
Haikyuu!!, Kuroko no Basuke, Avatar, Bojack Horseman, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Beastars, Dragonball Z
31. 3 random facts
already answered so here's three more
1. lately I've been carrying a fanny pack with the trans flag (there's an unfortunate but very tempting pun in there) and it's still got the security tag bc they forgot to take it off in the store so now every time I walk through the doorway to like, a drug store, I set off the alarm. I would get it taken off but it was sent to me from Chicago lol.
2. I've got a lot of outdoorsy skills bc of my gym class in high school, like rock climbing, kayaking, building fire, etc. I'm not super adventurous in my daily life but while I was in that class, I did all kinds of things.
3. for awhile I worked at a cat cafe, and helped take care of the 12-15 rescue cats we'd have there at any given time. I stand by that it was the best job I've ever had, but the people I worked with, not so much.
33. something you want to learn
I really want to learn to skateboard or surf. it's been a dream for a long time and I have (suspiciously acquired) both, but my balance is shit and I have no patience for new skills lately, so...
36. 3 dreams you want to fulfill?
already answered so here's three more
1. someday I want to have a pickup truck, I've been looking at, like, bright orange Tacomas and stuff, but of course I'd need a license to be able to drive one
2. I'd like to have a garden again, or maybe have a plot in a community garden. I've been growing nasturtiums and things on my balcony while in school but it's not quite the same
3. still waiting on the day I can get top surgery tbh. I just… want to be able to be shirtless at the beach and wear tank tops with nothing underneath, okay?
39. favorite sport(s)
ahahahaha… favorite sport you say. to play or to watch? 'cause I generally don't like to do either, tho I do like watching the folks who play volleyball on the beach. and considering one of my favorite shows is about volleyball and it was the sport I sucked at the least in school, maybe we’ll go with volleyball? but in general I’m not a sports person.
40. favorite memory
I have a vague memory… of helping my mom in the garden of my old house when I was a little kid, mostly just digging in the dirt in the spring and being outside with my family… it's not very clear or specific but I think those days were some of the happiest of my life.
52. something I'm talented at
I'm good at learning the lyrics to songs, I've got over 1000 downloaded in my spotify library and I'm pretty sure I know the words to at least most of them. in a similar vein I'm good at learning the scripts to movies, and just… memorizing things in general especially audio.
53. 5 things that make me happy
already answered so here's some more!
1. songs with a light, strummy acoustic feel and creative lyrics… I've got a whole playlist for that vibe there's just something about songs like that that make me really calm
2. I really like being hugged or cuddled by my friends, just being in close proximity and hanging all over each other, makes me all warm and fuzzy inside tbh
3. I love driving with the windows down (I can't drive so I mean riding passenger lol), especially in the canyon by my house, through the forest and by the beach.
54. something that's worrying me at the moment
I’m so afraid things won’t go back to the way they were. ...that applies to multiple aspects of my life, not just with this pandemic but school, work, friends, relationships… it seems like I’m always chasing the past and dreading the future, so much that I can’t ever be satisfied in the present moment, and that’s something that’s been on my mind a lot.
55. tumblr friends
@hadenxcharm, @spaztictwitch, @kurokonobaka, @taigainside, @hybristophilica and you could be too! all you gotta do is message me tbh I'm easy
56. favorite food(s)
strawberry cheesecake, fried shrimp, key lime pie, tuna steak
59. why I joined tumblr
I joined in 2012 bc my friends told me to, had a brief recession where I didn't use it at all, and a pretty lengthy sidetrack through the RP community, and then I came back bc of the friends I'd made here, and the unique-ness of the platform that I kinda can't find anywhere else. I'm stuck here just like the rest of y'all.
60. ask me anything you want (which do you prefer between KNB and Haikyuu?)
now this is a tough one… bc I really love them both a lot, and tbh in terms of quality of writing, art/animation, thematic music, character development and general story, I think Haikyuu!! has KNB beat, buuuuuut…. in spite of its flaws, I have such a soft spot for KNB and I keep coming back to it over and over again even as it falls into relative obscurity. It's the only thing I write for anymore and I'm still, somehow, utterly obsessed with the characters I first fell in love with over five years ago. KNB has problems, for sure, but the things it gets right (like setting a mood, strong emotional beats and character relationships) it knocks out of the park. I don't know if I could ever choose one over the other in terms of like, "you can only read/watch one of these and have to give up the other forever", but in terms of which has had the biggest impact, and still hits me the hardest, I'd probably have to go with KNB… but it's not by any means an easy choice.
