hello, everyone. apologies for not being on in a couple of weeks. it's been hectic and i've genuinely forgotten to log in to get things going on here for adding people. i'll do what i can to get people added onto the masterlist. but first i need to finish making the sidebar images for everyone in FF8 thru FF16. either way i'm very excited to get things going on here soon.

Realized fairly recently that I am over a year into this project, I started it a couple months after I started a new job in 2022, and now I've been here for over a year and a half. But, possibly discouragingly, I'm not nearly as far along on this as I had thought I would or should be after a year. Even now I'm at 99.4k thousand posts to still go throw, toss, or archive. Which is a fucking lot.

But it's also like 14,000 more closer to clearing out my likes tab than I was when I started, and now have several thousand more posts in my archive than I did when I started (approx: 0). Not nearly close to 14k cause a lot of it was outdated, later misproven, something I lost interest in or not something that I personally wished to preserve. (Not that it wouldn't merit preserving, but this is my personal archive after all.)

This has no bearing on anything, really. No one will read this and I will continue to hack away at this project intermittently. I estimate by the time I'm done, I'll actually have human children, lmao.

i was rereading the webtoon the other day and i had to Stop for a sec thinking about sys & od parallels. do u guys see my vision. okay listen hear me out

the way kdj was already living in a ruined world before the apocalypse even began. the way the words he typed all those years ago in a cold and lonely hospital room were "how to survive in a ruined world". how he was just a child clinging onto the one and only life raft he had found. and so he dreamed.

and then the scenarios begin and he looks at sys who feels unworthy of living for just trying to survive. and she's just a child and it's not her fault so he extends forgiveness to her as easy as breathing... but he's incapable of extending that same forgiveness to himself. so he takes up his sword in that subway and charges at od as if it was the only possible conclusion—and then he leaves. he stays behind and his eternity is his own form of atonement.

"your death has no place in the ending i wish for", he tells sys. and he means it. what he doesn't say is that he himself isn't part of that ending. because he never saw himself as part of the story at all. his salvation was always meant for others, not himself, and the most cruel and tragic kind of love is a hypocritical one.

and while kdj is hypocritical in his love with all his companions, the parallel between sys and kdj is especially poignant because they were both just kids who felt guilty for simply living. and they both felt responsible for dooming the world. sys realizing her 41st turn version would cause mass destruction, and kdj seeing od in that subway. they both felt the same despair and self-hatred so why wouldn't they be worthy of the same forgiveness? their bond is special because they understand each other at their core, but the tragedy is that kdj could see himself mirrored in sys and forgive his reflection but he could never in a million years forgive himself.

it’s about how they’re both SO emotionally repressed and will NEVER talk about their feelings, but even without doing so they fully understand everything the other hates about themself. and whether they’ll use that against each other or have fire gay sex and ignore it all is still a mystery.

it’s about how when they finally start seeing the good in each other, when they finally realize their walls are dropping and that maybe this can be something good, they try SO hard to reel it back, they want to hate each other so so badly but they can’t now that they’ve started noticing the good things about each other. Hating is easy, whatever the hell this is is so much harder.

it’s about the late nights where they’re just holding each other, and hate themselves when they realize how undeniably cared for they feel. in any other world they wouldn’t be together, they shouldn’t, but right now this is all that matters.
