Boys Planet AO3 Stats

I’ve seen people do stats analyses on ZB1 AO3 fics, so I wanted to analyze the AO3 fics for the Boys Planet fics without the ZB1 fandom tag (i.e. I went to the Boys Planet fandom tag, went to the filters, excluded all fics with the ZEROBASEONE | ZB1 fandom tag, and clicked "Sort and Filter"). By extracting the data of all Boys Planet fics using this bookmarklet and importing all the data into a Google spreadsheet, I was able to find all unique characters (i.e. the contestants) and ships that writers have written about and figure out which ones were the most popular.

Disclaimers: All data was extracted at approximately August 19 at 5:51AM KST. Characters who are not Boys Planet contestants were removed. Ships involving two or more non-Boys Planet contestants were removed.

As of August 19 at 5:51AM KST, there were a total of 596 fics written. The top 20 most written about contestants are:

Ok after watching ep. 3 of idol producer2, I can say with about 70% confidence that I don’t think i’m gonna get as into this season as much as s1. I just don’t feel the same connection with literally 80% of the trainees as I did with s1. (Jia Yi, Li Wenhan, Li You, Lin Mo, Yao Mingming, Xia Hanyu, Yao Chi, Lian Huaiwei, Hu Chungyang, Wang Jiayi, Xu Longhan & Zhou Shiyuan are an exception but still 12/99 isn’t a great ratio) and idk if it’s bc I don’t like new things, or the new format is just throwing me off but s1 will forever remain the best most iconic season and you can’t change my mind.

tbh this was a minimal lin mo exposure ep but its ok, im still grateful that he got a few random closeups (which is more than i can say for some of the others) and now that hes safely in top 20 i honestly think my work here is done LOL. there’s not much more lin mo fans can do for him. theyve gotten him onto all the stages and i dont think any amount of work will get him into top 9... and ive said before i dont even really want him in top 9 bc id rather he stay with mr tyger and help them stay relevant bc theyll need his help to do so, especially since jia yi will probably make top 9.

lets be honest, ranking 16 is too low for lin mo to make it lol....... last season the only kid who made top 9 who wasnt already in top 9 by ep 10 was yanjun... and yanjun had been on a steep upward trend leading up to the last ep (lin mo went from 17 to 16... theres minimal momentum there lol) and then bi wenjun going from 12 to 10 was the other surprise. xikan going from 18 to 13 was impressive, but he still wasnt one of the contenders for the 9th spot. i think at the end it was bu fan, qian zhenghao, bi wenjun and you zhangjing right? out of those 4, the lowest ranked in ep 10 was bi wenjun at 12..... so going from 16 up to 9 would be really really unlikely, unless lin mo somehow makes an even greater impression on the audience during the mentor collab stage than yanjun did last year.... which i think will be impossible bc literally the entire audience fell in love with yanjun during the “zero” performance in last season’s ep 11 lol it was crazyyyy.... but anyway i think ive reminisced about last season enough this rant.... can you tell i really miss it? honestly ive tried to stay as positive as i could throughout watching qcyn and i gave iqiyi the benefit of the doubt from the beginning that “oh maybe it just doesnt seem as great as the first season bc we havent gotten to know the kids yet, the show’s just started, we’ll learn to love it later” ---- but we’re on ep 10 now and i just.......... i still dont think i got to know the kids as well as i did last season and its not their fault, theyre not any less lovable kids (some of them i really like!!! more than some of the kids from last season!) but this season’s editing is really just disappointing. i really miss last season and it was honestly so much more enjoyable to watch..... i thought about this the other day, if lin mo had been eliminated during the last round, would i still be watching this show? and i thought about it and i honestly think i would... because i really like some of the other kids like mingming, junjie, xixi, jia yi, guan yue, chen sijian, etc. but i really dont think id be as eager to stay up to date with it. ive fallen behind on yaa and dont even look forward to watching fanafan anymore bc lin mo hasnt been on any of those (no, i dont count the yaa ep he literally only got 1 second of screentime in) these side shows are fun, but not as fun as fanafan from last season. they feature the same kids over and over again (literally yuehua trio was the ONLY kids on fanafan 2 weeks ago and then they were 1/3 of the ep last week too??? and hmm how come there are kids who have been on yaa multiple times yet there are also kids who have never been on it at all???? that’s just so unfair.....) without fanafan from last season, would you zhangjing have made it into top 9?? fanafan was the medium thru which he really showed us how hilarious and fun and lovable and sweet and sassy he was (whereas on the actual show he showed us his true, undeniable talent) and im just here wondering, if qcyn’s fanafan had featured ye ziming half as much as they had featured you zhangjing or his partner in crime yanjun (who both ended up making top 9), would he have at least made top 35? or how about chen sijian and wu zelin? or feng junjie?? or su yuhang?? where would they be now? why hasnt lin mo been on fanafan at all??? if given the chance, would people actually be appreciating zhan yu’s hilariously weird and crazy personality that we NEVER got to see?? sigh..........

omgggg this was actually so hard to choose…. i half really wanna say jin fan bc im weAK for his breakdancing and his stupid pickup lines and his perfect smile and side profile and his dumb selfies 

BUT im gonna have to say my bias wrecker is YE ZIMING because i just cant get over how talented he is, like he says in 大人物 / VIP “My rap like a god” but also he dances well (taught other TIME group kids the dance as part of the “outman” group – an incredibly sad but kind-hearted group of boys – he’s a super supportive friend, like the way he always says such nice and sweet things about the other trainees) AND sings really well (and plays piano!!! please watch this is you havent already, i was so AMAZED)

and is hilarious!! (like when he magically does a perfect impression of mc jin 😂😂😂) 

and is adorably soft!!! vlogging with his fluffy dog YB and calling her his daughter

ummmMMM oh man, im caught between Brave, I’m Sorry, and VIP…. WAIT HOW ABOUT “A SMILE IS BEAUTIFUL” AKA THE BEST BROS alsdkjalsk… ok ill pick i’m sorry because i really like that song for gu landi and yao chi’s gentle voices opening the song in what is my favorite song opening on qcyn (PLEASE APPRECIATE THESE BEST FRIENDS AND THEIR AMAZING VOICES), feng junjie and his all-around undeniable stage talent (the child who deserved way more than he received), xia hanyu stealing the show, zhou shiyuan taking full advantage of his deep voice, wang jiayi for his subtle and skillful vocal nuances and shen qunfeng showing us he can not only do hype rap like in VIP but also this subdued style too wow i love this song

HAHAHAHA THANKFULLY I HEARD LIN MO WAS GONNA BE IN EP 11 SO I WATCHED THAT EP :) and you best bet my favorite yaa moment involves him hahaha im gonna have to pick the LEGENDARY moment where lin mo and shi zhan are playing that shouting game with the headphones and lin mo cant stop giggling bc he is an adorable child and thinks shi zhan is cursing out chen youwei and meanwhile wenhan yells “dont say the words in your heart!” jokingly implying that lin mo secretly wants to curse out chen youwei HAHAHAHA and shi zhan’s like “WTF ARE YOU LAUGHING AT??? WHAT’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR BRAIN??” and lin mo just ;;; keeps ;;; laughing;;;;; ahhHAHHAHAHA I LOVE HIMMMMMM this moment just MADE yaa for me… ive been waiting for good lin mo screentime since ep 1 and finally…. after 11 weeks….. :’))) watching this just makes me laugh and smile like an idiot every time ❤

🌶 who deserved top9 the most besides the ones that made it?   

HAH i almost dont want to answer this question bc i could go on a whole rampage about why lin mo deserves to be in top 9 hes been on this road for 7 yrs, taught a bunch of the popular kids how to dance, takes care of everyone around him better than he takes care of himself, TALENT, worked his butt off and has the personality to be loved but it just wasnt shown BUT im instead gonna say if i had to pick someone who i actually wish had made it into top 9 (and actually had a chance of making it), id say lian huaiwei. (not that i would kick out xixi for him, i really wanted both of them to make it) but seeing huaiwei go from performing on “the coming one” to now “qing chun you ni” i feel like… hes definitely improved, worked hard, has such a admirable attitude and personality, had everything it took to make it, except a company to back him up. do i think this had something to do with him not making it? yes. and i wouldve loved to see him as a “not visual” in top 9, shaking up the idol scene that so many people have told him he doesn’t belong in. i just hope he can go off to do great things on his own :)

this just reminds me that even tho shi mingze is their cool, handsome leader, hes still the youngest in bg project............

can we please talk about how considerate of a friend li zhenning is and has been?? 

and this all took place before zhenning ever ranked into top 9.... so to them, this opportunity wouldve been really important for zhenning too, bc maybe he wouldve really needed it to get into top 9. but at least we know now.... he has enough popularity that they made the correct choice and hopefully more people will notice shi mingze as a result
