You and Aemond met during your freshman year and didn't start dating until sophomore year

You both went on your official date after the winter break and found out you will be in one spring semester class

Aemond will try to meet up with you on days where you’re both free. However, with your extracurriculars and his time with the university’s fencing team -- it can be hard

On days he can't take you out to lunch or go to a cafe, he does send you money through a transfer app, with a cute message or just the words “please eat”

If your club needs extra hands, he's more than happy to help you, whether that would be holding stuff in his car or helping carry needed supplies

Isn’t too into “school spirit” so he doesn't care if you steal his hoodies or beanies with the KLU logo on it

Took him a while to introduce him to his other siblings properly

You of course, met Helaena at the club fair, but you formally met Helaena when she invited both of you to an museum event sponsored by her club

You met Aegon at a frat party your freshman year and when he asked you what song you were listening to for a tiktok vid, but formally met him when Aemond treated you all to lunch

Aemond doesn't use emojis often and his texting style can be quite “dry” but he makes more of an effort to type more words

You raised an eyebrow when he used ❤️ for the first time

Aemond doesn't dorm and shares a very very large apartment complex with his siblings

Hightower 1 is a cushy luxury apartment owned by his maternal grandpa

Speaking of his other family members, if your relationship is getting serious his mother Alicent is insistent on meeting you so she books a nice dinner to meet you all

You find out she works in literary archives and you both spent the evening geeking over different texts which Aemond finds endearing

Aemond isn't one for PDA but he does kiss you on the forehead and hold your hand when you walk

AT HOME...completely different story. He already lets you crash at his place but the post lecture cuddles are something different

He'll have his arm draped over your waist with his lights dim, save for the lights over his reptile tanks

Aemond has made it a competition to be the first person to like and comment on your posts

Aemond is very reserved around people he doesn't know but he's observant

Every gift you received from Aemond was put forth with every thought and detail he remembers about you

Your favorite colors, flowers, what clothing item you have wanted, something he saw on your online wishlist. Or even something you had off handedly mentioned -- he will get it

One time you had wanted to get a special edition book set and he got it for you (and it was signed by the author)

He secretly loves the idea of coordinating outfits (although he wears dark colors, mostly all black). If you had on an accessory or an article of clothing that matched him, he would melt

He likes anime/manga but he's pretentious and likes the 90s-early 2000s ones. He thinks the current ones are repetitive

For your first Halloween, you did your own version of Howl and Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle

Everyone established Aemond as being a jealous and possessive lover fair tbh

But I don't think he's confrontational nor is the type to yell at you if he felt jealous

He’ll snake a hand around your waist for his sake but he trusts you and isn't particular threatened by anyone

He holds his own intelligence and being in high regard trust fund baby shit

If anything, he kind of enjoys it because he knows no one else would interest you. He knows you well enough to know that you don't even care

When uni work is getting tough, he loves to hold you. Unwind with you. Or take you out. He'll order your favorite takeout if you both don't feel like cooking, he’ll put on a movie, one time you took a shower together and he felt like he was in heaven when you shampooed his hair

Sometimes, he is afraid that you’ll both grow apart after uni. Especially if both of your plans are vastly different -- which is why his kisses and his grip feel just a bit more desperate as senior year approaches

Mama's Boys Au Master Post!

welcome to my brain child, Mama's Boys! A ROTTMNT Separated AU lovingly titled DNA Doesn't Make a Family (We Do) on Ao3!

Draxum has a project, a project to create warriors that will conquer the surface under his command- only, he doesn't get that far. His DNA 'donor' escapes with the turtles, leaving his lab destroyed in the process. Luckily for Draxum, he recovers two of his subjects: L and D.

Flash forward through time, and Big Mama finds two clearly abused turtle children abandoned outside of her hotel, and decides to take them in. She unexpectedly falls into a motherly roll, and soon enough has a family she didn't know she wanted. Meanwhile Splinter, the former actor turned mutant rat, raises his own turtle children, teaching them the way of his ancestors.

Years later, the four subjects reunite and become an unlikely alliance in a fight they were never prepared for, (with the help of some more found family members.)

Summary: Dew is away on tour and you’re struggling more than you care to admit to him.

One big advantage of living in the ghoul’s den is that they have their own kettle. You don’t need to walk all the way to the kitchens for the comforts of a late night tea. Instead all you have to do is carry your mug from the kitchen area down the hall to Dew’s bedroom, lock the door and settle into your pile of blankets. The tea doesn’t warm you up quite as well as your boyfriend does, but the options are limited and you take what you can get.

Your phone buzzes right when you take the first sip.

S: Send me a hot pic to keep me going ‘til I’m alone later, baby.🍑

You smile at your screen and contemplate Dew’s request, staring at the peach emoji he added. You could just do it or… No. You end up sending a pic of your steaming tea mug instead.

He doesn’t reply for another five minutes. The ritual starts soon and with the time difference, it’s getting late for you. You’re teasing him. Of course it’s enough, of course you’re happy with any crumb he throws your way. Last week he sent you a pic of some random person’s cat, saying it reminded him of you, and you couldn’t wipe the grin off your face for hours.

„How about I add some extra pictures? Come on, you’re getting a video and a bunch of pics for just one nude. Great deal, if you ask me.“

You can’t help but chuckle. „Hmmmm. Alright, I think that’s okay.“

„You’re messing with me. You know fully well that you’ve got me wrapped around your finger, you little minx.“

With that he’s gone and you let out a sigh of disappointment, the sudden quiet surrounding you like a heavy fog. You’d sell your soul to have him here. But then again you kind of already sold it, agreeing to a romantic relationship with a demonic creature. It’s all fun and games up until the moment you realise they’re not human, that their emotions, their whole minds work in mysterious ways you don’t always understand.

You snap Dew the picture he wanted, trying to bury the doubts, six feet under. He misses you, you know it. Of course what he misses most is touching you because that’s the one thing you can’t do over phones, but it’s not like your body is the only thing he misses, right?

Unless ghouls don’t feel like that. They are eternal creatures, forged in the ever-burning fires of hell. What’s a few earthly months to them? And he has so many distractions, he has no time to properly miss you.

The thought stings more than it should. It’s not his fault. You know who you’re in love with and he does the best he can. You know he’s already way out of his comfort zone, being committed to you, why can’t you stop wanting more?

After sending him a better photo, you change into sweatpants and a hoodie. No point in looking sexy now and it’s cold in the ghoul’s den, your tea already lukewarm. It hasn’t gone unnoticed that you’re sleeping in Dew’s room, snide comments by Siblings and hushed whispers when you come up the stairs a daily occurrence. But no one has stopped you yet and so you continue to wrap his blankets around you, bury your face in his pillow until you’re close to suffocating.

Even now, you sometimes find one of his silky long hairs in bed or wake up with one of his blond lashes stuck to your cheek. Missing him always feels hardest in those tiny moments – pulling a new shirts out for you to wear and remembering the last time he wore it. Passing by one of the spots in the abbey that he kissed you in. Or fucked you in. Sometimes he just stops you in the hallway to nibble at your neck and tell you he loves you. And you half expect him to do it before remembering that he’s gone. Because he is gone and yet he’s everywhere. Walking around the abbey feels heavy now, the echos of these moments following your every step.

You close your eyes, reminding yourself that in two weeks you’re going to fly out to see him. You can only visit for a few days and then he’ll be gone for another month. But it’s better than nothing, it’s better than whatever this here is.

You’re not sure when your basic bodily functions became dependent on someone else.

Okay, that is dramatic. You know you can live without Dew, you don’t really need him for survival.

But ever since he left, you sleep like shit.

There is just something about the empty bed that depresses you. It’s not even the lack of sex, even though him tiring you out most days probably does help, but you’re pretty sure it’s being alone with your thoughts that wakes your insomnia again. Before Dew, these nights were frequent. You’ve gotten used to discussing your days with him, receiving his comfort and undivided attention, clearing your head before it hit the pillow.

Now, you’re just alone with yourself again.

The longer he’s gone, the more sleep-deprived you are. It doesn’t help that you’re on kitchen duty all week, getting up at five a.m. to help with breakfast and then nearly falling asleep during Morning Mass a few hours later. The same exhausting rhythm every day, slowly grinding you like wheat in a mill, until you’re nothing but dust.

When Dew finally FaceTimes you on their day off on Thursday with a five hour time difference you’re knackered and emotionally drained. For him, it’s still a young evening. For you, it’s midnight on day four of this agonising cycle.

You answer with a forced smile that turns into a genuine one once you see his face. „Hey, baby.“

„Hey, babe.“ He’s lying in a hotel bed, white pillow propped up behind him. „You look so beautiful.“

„Thanks.“ He’s either lying or the dim light in his room hides the bags under your eyes. But you take it nonetheless, any kind word welcome. „You look really handsome, too.“

„I’ve been thinking about you so much today.“ He sighs dramatically. „See, we were at this donut place and they had all your favorites. It felt wrong not to get you anything.“

You hum. „Sounds great. What’d you get?“

„Keep going,“ he says, groaning as his hand moves over his length. You only vaguely register what he’s doing, too busy with yourself. You wish you had your second hand to touch your breasts or even better, to squeeze your throat like he does. It’s not enough stimulation, not enough to drown out your thoughts, the white noise buzzing in your brain, making it hard to let go.

„You have to keep talking,“ you say, knowing it’s the only way you’re gonna come. „Please.“

„Fuck, you just have to imagine it’s me. I’d fuck you so good, you’d scream down the whole abbey.“ Another groan, faster sounds. „You’re doing so well, baby. I can see how much you want me, keep giving me those pretty noises. Make yourself feel good for me, huh. So damn good. Shit, that’s my girl, my good. fucking. girl.“

You tumble over the edge when you hear Dew’s unrestrained moans and whimpers mixing with your own, the slick sounds of his hand spreading his seed over his length as he rides out his orgasm. His groans fill your ears as you press your fingers into your spongy walls, trying to reach higher. It’s intense, despite the lack of body contact, and you feel your heart clenching in your chest. It’s pleasure mixed with a range of other sensations you can’t quite place. Already you can feel your emotions whirling around, thoughts becoming muddled again. You fight back, to cling to sweet oblivion for a while longer, but you’re too vulnerable right now and it takes all the restraint you can muster to bite back a physical reaction. All you want to do is cry like a baby, to let it all spill out.

But Dew is still there, he can’t know.

„Fuck that was so much better than the fucking donut.“ You hear a few more deep breaths. „Aight, baby, I’m just gonna clean up and get dressed before Aether comes back.“

He’s gone then, camera facing the white hotel ceiling as you vaguely hear running water in the background. It allows you to let out the sob you’ve been holding in and the tears fall on their own accord. Your body is sensitive, you’re stripped bare not only physically. You put the phone away, face down so he can’t see you weeping but the quiet only lasts a few seconds.

Because of course he can still hear.

„Are you crying?“ he asks, shuffling back onto the bed.

You fight another sob. „No.“

„Baby, show me your pretty face.“

„No.“

„Hey, don’t shut me out.“

His velvety soft tone makes you pick the phone back up, pouting into the camera as you try to fight back more tears. There is no way you can get rid of the grimace on your face but he doesn’t show it; his face is scrunched up, brows knit together in concern. He’s wearing a black t-shirt now and you miss seeing his bare chest.

„What’s wrong?“ His voice drips with worry. „Baby, tell me.“

„I’m sorry.“ You sniffle. „I’m so sorry, I ruined it.“

„No, no, it’s fine.“

„I don’t know what’s wrong with me.“

„That’s okay, it’s all too much, huh?“

All you can muster is a weak nod, closing your eyes to fight the approaching headache.

„What can I do to make it better?“ Dew asks.

Come home.

But you know the request is unfair and you don’t really want him to. You know he loves touring, he’s having the time of his life based on what you see in all the videos and you want him to soak up all of it. You’re just being selfish, codependent and clingy. And you don’t want to be selfish, codependent and clingy. You want to give him the space he deserves.

„Nothing,“ you say. „I can handle it.“

„You’ve been a bit off for a while now but I figured you’d tell me if something was wrong,“ Dew says. „You trust me, right?“

„I don’t know what you mean. Of course I trust you.“

He ignores you. „Is it just missing me? Or something else?“

You frown. Just missing him. For some reason this feels like the wrong answer. Just missing him. He’s obviously doing so much better than you.

You swallow, the lump in your throat making it painful. „You know orgasms make me emotional.“

„Baby, this is not that and we both know it.“

He gives you a minute to search for an answer which is fair and very unlike him and his impulsive nature. You appreciate his patience and to see his handsome face so full of concern eases your worries. He’s trying so hard for you. You don’t need to hide.

„I sleep really bad,“ you admit, looking away. „And yea, I really fucking miss you.“

„You’ll be here soon, though. In a week.“

„Yea.“

„You can do it, right?“

„Yea, I’ll manage. I can handle it,“ you say, barely hiding your irritation. „I told you.“

„Hey, don’t be snappy.“

You look back into the camera. His face is surprisingly soft, not upset like you expected. He looks beautiful with his hair slightly messy like that, eyes still glinting with that post-orgasmic bliss.

„I miss you, too. You know that, right?“

„Yes.“

„And I can’t wait to see you.“

„Mhm.“

He scoffs. „I can’t wait to see you too, Dew,“ he says in a high-pitched voice, a poor imitation of yours. „I love you sooo much.“

Despite yourself, you smile. „Idiot. I don’t sound like that.“

„Look, there’s my baby.“ He smiles. „So fucking pretty.“

His words cement the happy expression on your face. It feels good to hear him say it, feels good to have him cheer you up. His virtual comfort is a bandaid that’ll carry you over the next week. Seeing him will be a proper remedy.

„I guess I’m just really tired,“ you say in defeat. „I’ve been on kitchen duty all week which means getting up at five and then I can’t sleep until three most nights.“

„You’re running on two hours of sleep?“

„That’s being generous, yea.“

„Now I’m not surprised you randomly start crying,“ he says. „I would have most likely killed someone by now.“

You giggle. „Oh, yea, you would’ve.“

A door opens and Dew groans in annoyance.

„Heeeeey,“ you hear Aether calling. „You decent?“

Dew rolls his eyes. „No.“

„You are, you liar.“

Aether comes into frame, plopping down behind Dew and pulling him close to his chest, saying your name. „Hi.“

„Hi, Aeth.“

„You look pretty,“ he says.

„Stop staring at her boobs,“ Dew says. „Baby get a shirt. He’s ogling you.“

You roll your eyes and put the phone to the side, slipping into the shirt from earlier. „I don’t know why you care, he saw me so many times by now.“

„Only because he doesn’t know what knocking is.“

„Hey, if you don’t lock the door that’s like an invitation,“ Aether says. „Besides, your girlfriend loves when I come over to cuddle at night because then she can finally be someone’s little spoon.“

„What are you talking about? She loves being the big spoon. Don’t you, baby?“

You grin. „I love both.“

Dew makes a face while Aether’s smile widens. He squeezes Dew to his chest, engulfing him in a hug that is so tight he almost drops the phone. „You are very small spoon shaped,“ Aether says. „I get it.“

„Fuck you,“ Dew replies.

„Wish I could squeeze myself in there,“ you say with a sad smile.

Dew’s eyes find yours over the display and he gives you a knowing look, aware of your pain, but Aether doesn’t seem bothered.

„If you want something to cuddle with you can take my huge banana plushie, that’s basically Dew’s size anyway,“ he offers, then snickers. „Well, the size of his body.“

Dew makes to complain but you interrupt him. „Thanks, that’s a nice idea. Hey, if you two are tired, we can just say goodnight.“

„No, we’re not tired,“ Dew exclaims. „It’s only eight.“

„I am tired,“ Aether says.

„Not my problem.“

„It’s okay,“ you say. „I can just…“

„No, I want to fall asleep with you.“ Dew awkwardly wriggles free from Aether’s grasp. „Or watch you fall asleep at least. Would that help with your sleeping issues?“

„Maybe.“

„She has sleeping issues?“ Aether asks.

„Stop listening in,“ Dew chides. „This is a private conversation. Private. Do you want me to spell it out?“

„It’s not private. We’re in the same room. I can’t not hear you.“

„Try harder?“

While they bicker, you put the phone away, clean yourself with a tissue and finally pull the covers over your shivering body. Then you prop the phone up on Dew’s pillow. After a few tries you get it to stand so you don’t have to hold it anymore. It takes a few more minutes until Dew has his bed for himself again and you see his face.

„Want to try and sleep?“ he asks. „I’ll just… hang around until you do.“

„You don’t have to.“

„I don’t want you to fall asleep alone and sad. So, yea I have to.“

You reluctantly nod and close your eyes. You are tired, or at least your muscles are, getting heavier by the second. You’re almost asleep when you hear his voice again, a whisper that gives you goosebumps.

„Hey, baby? I love you.“

You smile. „I love you, too.“

Somewhere in the background you hear Aether call over the buzz of a toothbrush. „I love you, too!“

Yeah, dynamism is a bitch, so I don't blame you at all for getting nervous about it. Of course, the biggest change you can make is foreshortening and perspective, but that takes finding a source that can teach you in a way you understand, a lot of studying, and then trial and error. Which is worth doing, we (I'm saying this to myself too) really should study that. And it's a nightmare because first, you gotta find a source that explains the material in a way that makes sense to you, then you have to find a way to make the studying more fun and worst of all, you have to actually commit and do it. With foreshortening and dynamic posing in particular, the study can take a long while to complete because it does demand an understanding of anatomy, breaking the body down into simple volumes, applying perspective to each piece then knowing how to shade each volume correctly. So, depending on where you are with all those components, you may have to backtrack further.

So, what little changes can be made to increase dynamism in the interim? A pretty easy one is Rim Lighting, pure white is common, and so is really dropping the color values paired with a vibrant colored rim light (red, cyan, magenta are popular). Pushing the shading a bit more will help accentuate bent limbs, rotated torso's, overlapping body parts without having to go ham on foreshortening. Exaggeration of shapes like how Sonic uses big ass hands and big ass feet. Or the Big Pant Big Jackt meme and its variants from Twitter/X. You can try making frames and having feet, limbs, weapons or the top of the character's head extending past the border (typically the more, the better because if it's too little, it reads as a mistake than a choice). Line weight variation is pretty easy (thicker lines towards the shadows, thinner towards light source). Or extending certain lines past the outline and into the shape to create a more 3D look. While the whole trend of "fixing" other artist's art is controversial, one good thing I've learned from watching a few vids is the idea of using the Liquify tool on a finished piece to exaggerate the line of action on something a bit too static.

Texting Headcanons

Patton: using emojis 24/7. Literally every text will have some sort of emoji, even if it doesn't fit the original message. Texts like a dad & a mom combined. Uses grammar occassionally. Usually types in all caps, because he doesn't know how to turn them off. Sends the laughing emoji when he laughs at something. Prefers talking in person if he can.

"HEY, KIDDOS 👋 YOUR HAPPY-PAPPY PATTON LOVES YA ALL! 🥰💙😻"

Roman: uses emojis occassionally. Types in caps when he's excited. Uses capital letters when necessary and never any time else. Shorten words and uses popular acronyms. Says "ROLF" and "LMAO" when he laughs at texts. Uses the sparkle emoji constantly. Loves to facetime. Double texts like CRAZY

"Helloooo~ ✨️✨️ romans here!! A REMINDER for all of u 2 tell me what u thought of the script ASAP bcus thomas NEEEDDS it by tmrw!!!!"

Virgil: shorten every word ever even if its not readable. Types in all lower case with 0 grammar. Sends 💀 or "lol" when he inhales through his nose at something. Keysmashes when he finds something really funny. Prefers to text above all else & will cry if you try to call him. Spelling mistakes all over the place. Hard 2 tell if something is supoosed to be an acronym or if its a mistake?

Logan: proper grammar all of the time. Probably ends his messages with "sincerely, logan" (he knows theyre not letters or emails, but he can't help himself.) Says "that was funny" when he finds something funny (very rare). Prefers in person communication or calling, as he is usually busy working and can't text if he's using his hands. Doesn't use emojis ever & finds them so so stupid but will SOMETIMES use the heart emoji if he's comforting virgil or trying to be nice. Learns about tone indicators after virgil tells him & now he uses them all the time. Will start to let loose if he's comfortable around you. Looking at his msgs with virgil is almost like an entirely different person.

"Hello, all. I have read your script, Roman, and will be sending you my edits soon. I find it to be very long and wordy and full of mistakes. /neg You are lucky you have me to help you. like this is maybe the 20th time this month a leak has happened where someone in a random state ranging from governors to prosecutors to a whole cop branch gets exposed for being violently antiblack and ur just told to ignore it like that doesn’t have a massive effect on the world i live in, the one cop branch that got exposed like three months ago had a whole group chat where they were sharing links to websites dedicated to posting videos of black people dying / being brutalized and they were sending each other laughing emojis and recommending each other’s vids to check out like and this stuff is just what gets leaked man. this is only what we know from leaks . it makes u feel so powerless

One of my favourite things about fandom is screaming, "Did you see that amazing thing?" to someone, and having them scream back at you (hopefully positively) that they have now! Sometimes, it's about the canon itself, but a lot of the time it's about fanworks our community has made. In that spirit, today is the day to sing the praises of our fellow fans' hard work and creativity (or shitposting instead of sleeping, one of those).

Challenge #13 Make a rec list! Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

You can include three or three hundred links to any kind of fanwork that strikes your fancy: art, crafts, fic, filk, gifsets, icons, layouts, manifestos, meta, multimedia mixes, picspams, playlists, podfic, vids & whatever else strikes you as having been pretty darn cool. Make the list themed if you like, or the last three things you made heart eyes over. Include fandoms big or small or only you and that one other person.

I totally encourage people to include a note of why they liked the thing, but linking to them with accompanying emoji and exclamation marks also works. (But please double check that if you're linking to LJ or DW, it's not to a locked post.)

What is ‘feedback’?

In broad terms, ‘feedback’ is ‘any response to a fanwork’. Fanwork creators engage in a huge variety of artistic mediums: writing, drawing, painting, making comics or animations, creating podfic recordings, editing together vids, music playlists and gif sets, and textiles (including props and cosplay costumes!).

Because fanworks are created in a huge variety of mediums, the kind of feedback generated often depends on the type of artwork. Most people leave written feedback as a way to let a creator know that they enjoyed their work. Feedback is usually left as a comment (a written reply attached directly to the posted fanfic/art/podfic/vid/etc), but feedback can take many other forms.

Leaving ‘kudos’ on a story posted to An Archive of Our Own is a form of feedback. So is ‘liking’ a Tumblr post, or giving a ‘thumbs up’, or leaving a reaction emoji ❤.

Recommending the story in a Discord chat is a form of feedback. Reblogging a post on a social media site is another form of feedback. Bookmarking a fic, adding a link to a longer recommendation post, subscribing to a creator’s blog, or even clicking on a Tumblr post or an Ao3 story link can be considered feedback. Even saying to a friend, “Hey, check out this cool poster someone made!” is a form of feedback.

As you might guess from the list above, however, not all forms of feedback are the same.

Who is feedback ‘for’?

Most often, comments, ‘likes’ and kudos are all intended for the creator. This is a direct line of communication between yourself and the creator. They will read and see what you’ve written and, unless you sent a private message, your comment/reblog/like/etc will also be posted publicly. This means other people will see your feedback too, even though they aren’t the primary recipient. (More on that later).

Beta-review comments and constructive criticism (con-crit) reviews are also intended for creators. However, this sort of feedback is solicited from specific people directly by the author/artist. It is also usually provided through a private channel, usually as part of the editing phase before a fanwork is posted for general viewing.

Other forms of fanwork feedback are directed to a more general audience: other fans. When you review a fanfic as part of a recs post, or reblog a piece of art, or post a link to a fanvid on YouTube, your feedback points other fans to something they might not otherwise see.

Why should I leave feedback on a fanwork?

There are probably thousands of great reasons to comment on a fanwork, but I’ll focus on the three most important ones:

Creators want feedback.

Ask any writer, artist, vidder or cosplayer, and they will tell you straight up: they love feedback. Comments make their day. Reblogs and likes and retweets are manna from heaven. Feedback is a major part of what drives creators: it’s what keeps them motivated. Creators want to share their work, and they want to know that you’re enjoying it.

More Comments = More fanworks.

If you want fanworks, you have to encourage the people who produce it. It’s that simple. Writers, vidders, podficcers, and artists all spend weeks, months and even years on a single project or learning the skills to make these projects. That drawing you glanced at for 5 seconds on Tumblr and immediately scrolled past? It took someone weeks of effort to produce. And while an artist might continue to work ‘for themselves’ for a while, they will eventually stop producing work. Everyone needs at least some degree of external validation or encouragement, right?

If you like reading/watching/consuming it, leave a comment! Let someone know you enjoyed their work! Without comments, people stop creating. And then we wouldn’t have a fandom, which would be sad.

Fandom is engagement. Feedback is fandom.

Fandom exists because we want to connect with each other. It’s a basic human need. When you’re obsessed with a TV show or a book, or you want to squee about a character, or debate the particular merits of Episode 2 versus Episode 8, you hop online and connect with your friends in fandom. Sharing our joy and excitement with other people is a huge reason why we’re all in fandom in the first place.

If you’re only reading fics or consuming fanart in isolation, you’re missing out on some of the real fun of fandom: the dumb jokes and shared memes, the challenges and gift exchanges, the shared love and enthusiasm. Lurking is also great! Some people just have enough energy to read and maybe leave kudos, and that's okay--we love an audience! But for people who want to be more social, fandom connections are fun!

So join in! Engage! Leave comments, and experience the fun of fandom!

Honestly prob just a dumb theory but it made me think

i think swifties give taylor too much credit and sometimes she lucks into stuff lining up really well or swifties being clever and linking things she never really intended to link. not to say she doesn’t weave a wonderful easter egg hunt but taylor’s eggs are usually kind of basic. emojis to signify how many days til a single, a wink at national scrabble day, the fact that she doesn’t actually hate gay people, little drags of people like kanye and jake g and stuff. the snakes for rep tour based on kim k and national snake day. she hits her fans over the head with stuff and then they go and extrapolate further and further to more convoluted theories.

great example of this - we got a surprise evermore and the big clue for that was her saying not a lot going on at the moment which was the exact same clue we got for folklore which is evermore’s sister album. swifties took these surprise secret albums with tbh a basic ass clue and extrapolated a whole THIRD album based on an editing mistake and some merch. and wouldn’t have a secret trilogy been amazing! and there were funny things with the merch and woodvale literally “spelled out” for all to see. wouldn’t it have been so cool!

but no. the more convoluted clues added up to nothing because woodvale never existed. we got the very obvious and basic (but still hugely fun!!!) “not a lot going on at the moment”

that all said i have only been able to pick up pieces of different midnights theories because i’ve been traveling. i will look more in depth when i have more time and get back to you. feel free to send links or screen shots of specific things you want me to see. but i also like a wait and see approach with taylor. she eggs on a lot of wild speculation but the fact of the matter is we aren’t gonna know until the album drops!

Dear K/S friends,Greetings! July is here, and so are we with our fourth progress report!

1. New concom member:

We are happy to welcome our new concom member, starshiplillian, who will support the team in Registrations, Logistics, and Communications. If you've been to one of our Pub Nights before, then you already know Lillian. Her bio on Conline claims that she is "several unionized lizards disguised as a functional concom member", but (while we won't dispute the unionized lizards, on the grounds of awesomeness) we can tell you that she is also the librarian of the U.S. branch of the K/S Zine Library and in the process of preparing the relaunch of this branch. 2. Upcoming deadline: Con Zine!

If you want to submit your fic, art, poetry, meta to the KiScon zine, here's your friendly reminder that the deadline of 1 August is soon upon us! For submissions and also any and all questions about the zine, please get in touch with our editor Carleen: kszinesubs @ gmail.com.

3. KiScon Discord (“KiScord”):

Avid readers of our newsletters might ask how many more times we will dedicate a paragraph to our KiScon Discord server. The answer is easy: as many times as necessary to get y'all to join it. It really is important that our con attendees use and are comfortable with Discord; it is not "just another social media platform", but a vital tool for the online convention.

We have a walkthrough with many screenshots (pdf) that you can download from our website. This document explains to you all the steps of creating a Discord account and joining the KiScon server. After creating your account and joining the server, don't forget to accept the #rules by clicking the emoji with the Vulcan salute – it will automagically make the various channels of the server appear. 1lostone is always happy to help you with any and all technical questions: 1lostone @ kiscon . org

Join us for one of our Pub Nights to try out Discord and enjoy the company of fellow K/S fans. We regularly announce these events in the KiScon FB group and in the KiScon Discord server.

Art show / auction:

A virtual con means a virtual art show, but we want it to be as glorious as in person. This fandom is rich in talent and creativity, and we hope to showcase a great variety at KiScon 2022. This year's art show will be presented via a slideshow vid that will be accessible all throughout the convention weekend, much like an exhibition in the Rec Room. You can submit both digital art and traditional art (paintings, drawings/prints, but also three-dimensional artworks like sculptures, amigurumi, fibre craft, jewellery etc.); traditional artworks and physical items need to be either scanned or photographed. The show itself is purely digital and welcomes pieces from all K/S fans, not only registered con attendees. Please submit your artworks or the scans/photos of your artworks via this form. Deadline: 1 October 2022. Good-quality files in jpg or png format (300 dpi) are recommended. Please include your exact artist name and the title of your works, plus any kind of information (e.g. medium, year of creation) that you would like us to mention. The artworks do not need to have been created for the convention, but can be as old or new as they come. If you would like to not only show your art but also offer it for sale in the auction, please make sure to tell us for each artwork you submit and include the starting bid. In the case of digital art, the winning bid will then get a very high-res file of the work (to set it apart from the version featured in the vid and auction catalogue). In the case of traditional art you will send it to the buyer in its physical form. The online format of KiScon 2022 does not make it possible for us to organise the actual exchange of money for art; it would not be feasible for us to store the physical artworks and send them across the globe to the winning bidders. This is also why we will not take any commission this year! We'll gladly help buyers and artists to keep track of all purchases and match you up with contact details, and we will keep a watchful eye on the process to ensure fairness and accountability, but each buyer is ultimately responsible for transferring the money to the artist, and each artist for making sure the artwork gets safely delivered to the buyer. If you would like to dedicate one of your auctioned artworks or a percentage of it to this year's charity (to be voted on during the con), to the support of KiScon itself, or to Ukraine, please let us know at the time of submitting the artwork. Artworks submitted by their artists for auction will not only be in the art show vid, but also featured in an auction catalogue / gallery that will be part of the digital goodie bag each con attendee receives via Conline. Should you want to offer an artwork or item in the auction that you have not created yourself, for example something that you once bought for your collection but now would like to send to a good new home, then it will only be featured in the auction catalogue / gallery, not in the slideshow vid, as we cannot ascertain the permission of the artist.
