Day 1: Stars

"Found mew, Maki-chan~!"

The sharp exclamation sent a jolt down Maki's spine, and the redhead whipped her head around towards the source: a hyperactive blob of ginger hair bolting towards her from across the beach, somehow managing to barrel forward through the sand without slowing down.

"R-Rin, be careful!" Maki cried, a warning that came all too late as Rin tried to skid to a halt in the sand only to trip over herself and nearly tumble down.

Nearly, because she latched onto Maki's shoulders like a lifeline and only through sheer willpower did the two of them manage to stay upright.

"Sorry, Maki-chan," Rin hummed, sticking her tongue out sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her head. "But Rin couldn't find you anywhere and got suuuuper worried, so Rin went on a mission to find you!"

A soft blush rose to the redhead's cheeks, and she could only hope that her embarrassment would be obscured by the darkness of the night. "I can take care of myself," Maki grumbled, turning away from Rin with a flustered huff. "This is my family's beach house, after all, so I know this area like the back of my hand."

She didn't need to look at Rin's face to know she was pouting; she could hear it in her voice as she whined, "But you shouldn't be out alone so late anyway!"

A hop and skip was all that it took for Rin to be standing in front of Maki again. Her golden eyes glimmered with concern, and Maki found herself unable to look away from such raw, genuine emotion. "Maki-chan, why are you out here all alone?" Rin murmured. "Can't sleep?"

"... something like that," Maki conceded. With a sigh, she tilted her head back to gaze towards the night sky. "The stars calm me down when I'm nervous, I suppose."

"Maki-chan gets nervous?!"

Maki's eyes quickly fluttered back to Rin, narrowing into a glare. "Of course!" she snapped. "I'm human too, you know!"

Rin waved her hands in front of her face and began to explain. "No, no! Rin just thinks Maki-chan is so smart and talented and beautiful, that she should never need to be nervous ever! Kayo-chin thinks so, too!"

Was that... supposed to help Maki calm down? The pianist turned away again, her face probably a brighter shade of red than her hair at this point. "I'm... I'm not good enough yet. Not where I want to be. So of course, before a major live show, I'm going to get butterflies...."

She wasn't certain if she should be impressed or terrified at the way Rin could maneuver so easily on the beach. Another skip and twirl, and the athletic first-year was in front of Maki again. "Then... can I be the stars that calm you down, nya?"

"P-pardon...?"

Beaming, Rin slid her hands into Maki's. "It's in my name! Starry sky! Next time Maki-chan needs to talk to the stars to relax, can you stay inside and talk to me? Please?"

Rin gave a gentle squeeze, but to Maki, that simple gesture meant the world.

No, Rin was out of this world. The brightest, warmest star she had ever seen.

"I..." She gave Rin's hands a little squeeze back. "I'll consider it."

this is it. thank you sif.

ik it's silly but i did shed some tears. sif helped me through a lot of hard times. i was 15 when i started playing and im 19 now. it's bonkers. ik sif has been around way long than that but man. ik i should be a high rank but i took a few breaks in between.

i couldn't really decide who i wanted to set my partner to today. i decided on sky!nozomi. when i got back into sif she was one of the first muse URs that i pulled. idk something about her just stuck with me. i didn't really use her on any of times at the end cuz i had better cards but she still meant a lot to me.

and for my badge for today i went with nico of course. she's my best girl in all of LL. even between Aqours, Niji, Leilla, etc. nico means a lot to me so i had to set her as my badge.

so, thank you sif. for giving me a reason to wake up n check my phone and helping me control my impulsive nature lol

it has been a great 4 years. even longer for a lot of other people. im looking forward to sif 2 but, i know it won't be the same. sif made me happy because despite all the new groups and new girls it still remained muse/aqours at heart. it's the end of an era. despite that, muse and aqours will always be LL to me.

i get that llsip, and other anime/franchises centered around High Schoolers Doing Activities, and them being high schoolers is important, because a/ Youth but also because b/ graduating high school, going to different unis and being apart from their friends is people’s first Big Thing in their lives, but also i think it would be an extra tearjerker if there was a series about a group of girls who try to be idols in university

the sheer POTENTIAL for angst! university is the last moment for being yourself and fooling around freely; pretty soon you’ll have to go get rid of your piercings/funky colored hair/fun make-up, clean up and go to those company recruitment meetings. if our characters genuinely love being an idol, it’s definitely a bummer! but also:

oops! i dedicated my life and my years in uni to this university/off-university idol club, but my friend(s) are very into having boyfriends now! at all costs! ://

the rare drop outs. whether they have to get a job that makes it impossible to continue being an idol, or go back to their hometown, or some other reason -- the frustration!

those who got a job and intend to drop idol activities together! bonus points if they were incredible as idols, super stylish and brimming with personality, but are now going to be OLs in some kinda boring ass corporation. bonus bonus points if they’re not even a little bit sad about it; you’d expect them to fight to retain some of what made them so amazing, but they’re like “yeah, what can you do! sorry, i need to shop for some more traditionally feminine clothes and make-up ^_^”

those who didn’t get a job, and have to keep trying, and the stress is eating them so much they can’t even think about prancing around on stage. bonus points for “can’t you see how stupid your idol thing is?! this is real life! grow up!” “this is real life for me too! it made us both so happy, why just drop it?!” shouting matches

actual idol companies/talent agencies kindasorta Gazing at these amateur idols. bonus stress points: they’re almost too old to debut as actual pro idols! oh fuck! bonus bonus points: a girl has to choose between running from one audition to another And the amateur idol club activities. bonus bonus bonus points: the dreaded scenario where a passionate amateur idol goes to an audition, her pretty friend is just there to support her, and... you know what happens

the more i think about it, the more i realize how unwatchable/unmarketable such an anime would be, lol. these are all painfully realistic, and you can’t really pull a “but they teamed up together for one last time and everyone was so happy!” ending to slither out of shoving your audience into a pit of depression. especially if we go a step further and make the main character a gnc lesbian crushing on another kindasorta gnc girl (the one who drops it like a hot potato for OL skirts, tights, soft feminine make-up and a bland-ass boyfriend from company mandated after-work hangouts)

yeah i can see why there’s no such anime

#that and ALSO the general REASON for why the girls are idols #high school idols can mumble/shout something about SHINING and MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY and other bland bullshit but if you're university #age you should probably think about such stuff a bit more seriously especially if you want to continue doing it seriously #further angst fodder: that girl who's only an idol because she can put a self-confident and sparkling persona on stage and feel -- even for #a moment -- that she's wonderful and loved for who she is #i know there are pro idol/girl musicial series but they're not exactly what i'm talking about #i tried watching imas the anime but lost any interest after that one chick pulled a whole I QUIT!!! song and dance because their first #performance had a considerable audience BUT NOT AS MANY PEOPLE AS SHE IMAGINED IT WOULD :( like girl what #shrimp thoughts
