I know this has been spoken about before but lestappen ARE long live (tv)

Like the moment they stood on that podium arms around each other. That moment made me go "and the cynics were outraged claiming this is absurd. Cause for a moment a band of thieves in ripped-up jeans got to rule the world". It was them against all odds looking down at their world.

And every conversation where they're in their own lil bubble with Steve just standing there makes me go "how the kingdom lights shine just for me and you".

This one is a bit more direct. Whenever they're holding their trophies and clapping for one another - "when they gave us our trophies, and we held them up for our town. Especially in Austria because well I think we all agree no matter what Austria is the holy lestappen motherland.

And of course, every time they're together on the track "I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you". I mean I know they're racing against each other, but I don't know why every time they're racing each other I feel like they're racing together. Every move between them is a give and take. It's not max vs charles it's max and charles.

The entire point of long live is the beauty of two people who match each other in every possible way coming together in the spotlight. A world where it's just the two of them. To me, this fights Lestappen's predestined narrative so perfectly. They've always been each other's match, and when it's them, it's them (am I still making sense?).

However, in some ways, I'd say Lestappen transcends long live. One of my most/least favorite parts of the song has always been the bridge because on the one hand its so mature to realize that being on top of the world will inevitably come to an end, on the other hand, I hate the idea that "fate should step in". In the case of Lestappen though, I think the bridge is irrelevant. They've always always always come closer and closer and closer. They aren't momentary like the song suggests. They have been together their entire lives and their names will always be linked. Anyone pointing to the pictures will know it's max and charles.

long live tv is gonna be such an emotional experience bc lyrics like “bring on all the pretenders, i’m not afraid” was such a powerful line 13 years ago when after that she had so much she had to go through with her career, and she made it through it all so i feel like that song is just an anthem for how far she’s come and how impactful she is as an artist and a person.

and i tear up every time when she says “when they point to the pictures, please tell them my name” as if in the future we’ll have to be telling our children who she is like she’s doesn’t have one of the biggest careers of all time. even back then she had no idea the influence she’d have on the generations to come and her legacy will live on forever. “tell them how the crowds went wild” her success back then was so admirable and her success now is even bigger and more inspiring.

“i had the time of my life fighting dragons with you” almost sounds like a goodbye, and i feel like this whole song radiates that. like if this was gonna be her goodbye, she wanted this song to be the lasting one, the goodbye to the amazing things she did and the amazing things she had hoped to do. but it’s just emotional to look at it that way and then look at her now and think about everything she has been able to do since 2010.

“long live the walls we crashed through…long live the mountains we moved” she already had made incredible waves in her career and looking at her now it’s amazing every record she’s broken, every story she’s told, every new album she’s written and how much more she’ll accomplish in the years to come.

“one day we will be remembered” one day she may stop making music. one day she may retire. one day she may be “forced into a good life”, but she’ll always be remembered in the history books as one of the most powerful artists to ever exist.

that song in particular is one that i’m just so excited and emotional about because of its message before and it’s message now. speak now is a nostalgic album for me and i can’t wait to listen to her version. 💜💜💜
