Loretta Swit recounted an incident in which McLean Stevenson stood up for her. “I went through a period in my first three years on the show when I would try to make suggestions about my character. Everyone appeared to be listening, but it was more a case of ‘Thank you — next.’ I’ll never forget something McLean Stevenson did. I made a suggestion at the rehearsal table one day. One of the producers said no, he didn’t think that would work. So 10 minutes later McLean made the same suggestion, but in a deeper voice — which of course meant he got more respect. The same producer said it was a terrific idea. And McLean said, ‘Why didn’t you think so when Loretta said the same thing 10 minutes ago?’”

I will not rest until the rest of MASHblr is as insane about the 80’s office AU ads as I am

So I wanted to compile the ads so I could just post one video and not like a whole YouTube playlist, but I quickly found out that there are SO MANY MASH IBM ads! So I decided to leave out ones that weren’t office related and were more ‘Alan Alda puts on a bunch of different hats’ and ‘Jamie Farr repeatedly tries and fails to enter a building’ and I actually had to cut one ad of Alan and some kids in a classroom that I wanted to put in cuz I think it’s cute.

But anyway, I am always gnawing at the bars of my enclosure thinking of the universe these ads take place in. Like, who flooded the office? Did Trapper ever get to go to Hawaii? Where’s BJ? (JK he’s at a gay picnic)

I feel like there’s a rich vein here and us weirdos, sickos, and perverts need to buckle down and really dig into the potential for office shenanigans.

Loretta Swit - (M*A*S*H) - I started watching MASH last year and was immediately struck by Swit's performance, it's genuinely one of my favorites on TV ever (the episode "The Nurses" is one of my favorites from her). In addition to acting, she's also been a competitor on a lot of game shows, is an animal rights activist, and wrote a book about needlepoint, which is rad.

The girl in the wheelchair is her stepdaughter, who’s father she had killed to take their money and she hates her obviously. She hates all of them, especially after that kiss and vows to kill them all.

Today marks the 41st anniversary of “Goodbye, Farewell and Amen” airing on CBS. The record breaking finale closed out the eleven year run of M*A*S*H and brought an end to the Korean War. The final scene of the series with “Goodbye” written out in rocks, a message from B.J. to Hawkeye, with the broken down 4077th in the background has become an iconic image.
