R8 - QUALIFYING Sunday, May 25 2024 — Circuit de Monaco, Monaco

"Eh el enti labseh dah?" [What are you wearing] Your grandmother scolded once you helped her out of the car, picking at your hoodie unimpressed. "Sebuhah fehalha." [Let her mind her business] Your grandfather sighed getting out of the drivers seat, pulling you in a gentle hug. "Hi gedo." [grandpa]

You sighed relaxed as your grandparents patted your shoulder and pinched your cheek. "You didn't tell me you were coming." "We don't need an invitation, ya habibit mama." [Mom's sweat heart] Grandma said sarcastically in her absolutely horrible English accent which you had to hold your breath in to not laugh at.

"El nas bet bous leh?" [Why is everyone staring] Your grandfather asked looking around the parking lot to the people absolutely oogiling and taking pictures of car. "3alafekra, enta betsou2 nevra. enta 3aref di ghaliah ade eh?" [You're driving a nevera. You have any idea how expensive that is] "La2. Ana shoftaha we 3oztaha." [no I saw it and said I wanted it] he scoffed making you roll your eyes, hooking your arm with his as you walked towards the entrance paddock.

"Tu es toujours dans cette boîte à merde?" [You still in that shit box] Your grandmother smiled amused, French accent and pronounciation on point for some reason. You opened the door to the Alpha Tauri hospitality. "People here speak French. And your French is good. So they can understand you. Which means you're embaeessing m-"

"Grand maaaaaaaa!" You watched as Meike ran into the building catching your grandparents in a hug. You folded your arms listening to them shower each other in hugs and affection.

"Great of you to join us." You joked as Killian sneaked in as well receiving the same treatment as your twin. "What about me?" You pouted slouching. "Girl we see you everyday." Granma scoffed making you chuckle as you shared a bone crushing hug with your brothers and grandfather.

"Aboki fen ba2a 3alashan adrabo 3ala nafokho." [Now, where's your dad so I can beat the shit out of him] you watched silently as your grandparents and twin argued over beating up or not beating up your dead, a small smile on your face.

Max watched from behind the doors quietly, holding Leila's hand who had an ice-cream in her mouth, looking around the paddock. "What . . . Are! What questions we looking at?" She looked into the motor home confused, her eyes lighting up as she saw her family running in to great them.

"The whole family is almost back together." You joked to Max once he decided to join you. He held up the can of red RedBull for you, which you clapped in excitement before thanking him and popping the can open.

Max's never seen a family interact like yours, most likely because his family was small and he didn't have that much Sibling or cousins and aunts and uncles. "I wanted to ask." He started hesitantly.

You hummed turning your attention to him. "Well- I was wondering-" He fiddled with his hands behind his back, looking away from your eyes. 'You should tell her.' His consciousness reminded him.

"I wanted to tell you- do you and Leila wanna stay over for the week? Like a sleep over?" 'Fucking hell.' Max watched as a smile spread on your lips. You quickly nodded. "Thank you, Max. That- that's really nice of you."

"No- Y/N, don't bring our enemies into our sacred space." Yuki cut in pushing Max from his back, along with your two brothers, put of your motor home. You laughed as you watched them looking back either confused or pouting with Yuki dusting his hands in satisfaction.

"That was mean." "They were going to steal you, Y/N."

You sat silently, sipping from the juice carton as you you watched max run up and down the paddock after Leila in only his socks, trying to get his shoes back. "You're doing great, Maxine." You cupped your hand over your mouth so your voice could reach him.

Max looked back at you, glaring. "Can you be of good use and help me?!" You couldn't be bothered, slouching back in your chair and closing your eyes. "I'm good."

Max had to drive back to his apartment barefoot, watching Leila run around and explore the apartment while you flopped on the couch. "You're one good host." You yawned, making Max purse his lape and shake his head playfully.

"Pretty sure you invited me to your house without even knowing me that well." He joked, grabbing a nearby blanket and covering you with it, before finding a spot for himself to sit beside you.

"I did know you that well technically. You played football with Mieke and Killian— all the time." You yawned between your words. "And I'm pretty sure you've been on each and every one of my podiums in karting and f1."

". . . Don't sleep yet, who's going to make dinner?" He nudged your shoulder joking. "Well the host, of course." You joked back closing your eyes. Max felt his gaze soften listening to your breath even. He hesitantly reached over and brushed the few strands of hair behind your ear, adjusting the blanket before getting up to find the tween.

Max did end up making dinner, sharing a plate with Leila infront of the TV after he carried you to bed ( his bed, he thought you'd be more comfortable in it than the guest room, wasnt a big deal right ).

The Dutch driver did help Lei get ready for bed, setting her in the bed beside your sleeping body while he went to get ready for his other bed. What he didn't expect was Leila pulling and insisting they all shared the same bed because it was a "sleep over".

He felt jealous watching you and Leila sleep so peacefully while he couldn't sleep a wink. The moonlight peaking from the windows made your features look so perfect and made you look so peaceful. You wouldn't mind if he removed the pillow wall betwen you two right? Just so he could scootch in a little, and hold your hand. Which effectively brought him enough serenity for the night.

"Cat." He heard Leila whisper in the middle of the night, getting off to probably have another play session with sassy or jimmy. He was too unbored to get up this early, he wasn't bothered at all either when you turned and snuggled into his chest to replace the warmth Leila took with her.

He gently wrapped an arm around your back keeping you close. He couldn't bring himself to sleep again, being so close to you made him feel complete. Max had instead found refuge in scrolling through his phone, enjoying how his heartbeat and breathing patterns matched with yours.

This was going to be awkward in the morning.

R8 - RACE DAY Sunday, May 26 2024 — Circuit de Monaco, Monaco

It wasn't that bad. You didn't know how you ended up here, head resting on Max's chest while listening to his steady heartbeat which threatened to lull you back to sleep. You could hear the hushed conversation between Max and Leila, probably concerning to two purring cats behind you.

This felt like a reverie. A fantasy.

You've always dreamt about waking up beside a nice man, who would be an angel to your children and would run his fingers gently through your hair same way max was doing now. It made you think differently about Max . . . very differently. You've never seen him like that before.

But you shouldn't see Max like that. You were competitors, ex-teammates. Yes he was very nice and fun, got along with your family very well, was practically Leila's best friend and knew your favourite Red Bull flavor— fucking hell. You couldn't possibly crush on him. No way.

But you'd rather miss the race than leave his embrace.

You cleared your throat making you and Max simultaneously pull away and sit up in silence. Leila looked between you two narrowing her eyes as she rubbed the cat's head. "Who ever wins will start the conversation." You rolled your eyes at her, kissing her cheek good morning. Her suggestion was only going to end in one way.

And it did end her way.

"Here comes the lights to one of the great tests in all of sport. And formula one is racing on the streets of Monte Carlo."

Lap 1 :: "And Max Verstappen wins the Monaco grand Prix." You narrated to yourself as you overtook Norris on turn one, because you can.

You knew you weren't going to be able to overstake Daniel ahead or your older brother after that. But P4 was good, you weren't satisfied, but good.

That was the most you could do. You've defended position against both the McLarens behind throughout the whole race, giving you no time to attack or overtake Daniel in front.

Lap 53 :: "I'm GLIDING!" You shouted in the radio as you lost control of the car. "INTERS. I SAID INTERS. NOT MEDIUM. WHY AM I ON MEDIUM?!" You shouted angrily. As you did your best to catch up to the McLarens that passed you. "WHY IS IT THAT YOU NEVER LISSTEN TO WHAT I SAY? I'M DRIVING. I KNOW WHAT IM DOING. OR IS IT BECAUSE IM A STUPID ARABIAN GIRL?"

"We are pitting for—" "INTERMEDIATS AND FRONT WING. I SWEAR TO GOD— **** ******** *** ***** *** KHARA DAH WENTA BE3MEL **** ***** ***** ******. FUCKING SHIT SHOW. MY GRANDMOTHER CAN DO BETTER WORK THAN THIS FUCKING TEAM."

It was raining. That usually wasn't an issue when you weren't DANCING LIKE A FIGUTRE SKATER WITH THE GOD DAMN CAR, because inters and mediums sound so "similar". You were going to put your fist in someone's face after this.

Lap 62 :: "I'm going to fucking. JUMP OFF BRIDGE." Your rage meter was going to pop off at any moment as you overtook Daniel to sit in P2 only to receive an 5 second time penalty. "Take the wheel. I'm going to fucking kill someone." "I'm good thank you, maybe next time." You heard other you chuckle as you drove past her from where she stood with some marshals. "You're fucking useless."

Final Lap :: You could feel you chest heaving as you parked in where P2 would. But there was no board because you had fallen into P4, right where you started. "I hate you!" You repeated slamming your fists down on the steering wheel over and over. To whome that statement was directed to was unknown.

"My life is a shit show." You growled slammed the stupid white and black helmet on the ground. "Nunu, relax." "Don't tell me to relax." You shrugged killain's hand off your shoulder, feeling your chest and palm burn from the anger bubbling.

"Hey, It's going to be fine." Max was next to come and comfort you. "I fucking lost." You argued, feeling angry tears swell in your eyes as you looked up at him. "There's a lot more to racing than winning." You sighed shakily at the statement, running your hand over your face to catch your breath. "I'm— I'm fine."

You could feel Max pat your head gently before his presence disappeared. You had to figure out what you were doing with your life. This isn't how you should be spending it.

2007 — Stuttgart, Germany

It was yet another disappointing race for Max, he always seemed to disappoint. With helmet in hand, he walked down the circuit's building to the washroom, head down in shame. The boy that he had thought he'd become friends with had forced him out and beaten him in the race. And nothing hurts more than listening to your father compare you to a friend.

Max should have expected such a dirty move, Meike was a Kraus after all and Krauses do whatever they need to get their hands on the first place trophy. But Max never expected them to go this far, especially on their own kin.

While walking back, a rattling door caught his attention. Bangs and clanks were what he could hear from the other side. And although his brain was screaming for him to ignore it, Max found himself rotating the key to the lock. What he didn't expect was the door to go flying open and slam in his face.

He watched as the silhouette of the familiar girl ran past him with a metre long rebar. From the window he watched he saw you came up from behind your celebrating brother. Swinging forth with the metal, Max could only wince as he saw Meike fall on the ground.

The Tour Of Fuck It We Ball Part 3: The Return Of The King (this is about tai… and the band of hobbits, not mikeyway) Days 7-10 of US Tourdust: North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Chula Vista, California), BMO Stadium (Los Angeles, California, night 1), KROQ Helpful Honda Sound Space (Los Angeles, California, secret show), BMO Stadium (Los Angeles, California, night 2), Shoreline Amphitheatre (Mountain View, California)

For the California stretch of the tour you need to understand the mood was set early on day 7 when instagram user mikeyway posted a picture of Andy with a teensy tiny little puppy. And then kept posting updates from stage side. It was extra upsetting for the people who rely on streams because for a while there the only updates we were getting were from mikey fuckin way posting pictures to his stories. When it was time for Saturday, mikey fuckin' way went on stage and played bass.

For the piano segment:

On day 7 Patrick said he didn't have anything interesting to say because he sings the interesting things and then we got a song Pete suggested, it was nothing compares 2 u by Prince.

Day 8 he said "i practice this at some point it's just a matter of if they will come back" and then played Mr. Blue Sky (Electric Light Orchestra cover) and then he did something new, he didn't follow that with don't stop believin', he followed it with Golden.

Next day they also had time so he got to do another cover/fob dual piano mystery medley with Every Breath You Take by The Police followed by I've Got This Ringing.

Finally, it took Patrick 10 days and probably a lot of restraint to play an Elvis Costello cover, Allison.

The relentless attack of the magic 8 ball which cannot be bartered with, cannot be persuaded, sees no friends or enemies, and so on and so forth continued, with new twists:

For Day 7 we didn't get any setlists, but the magic 8 ball song was (Coffee's For Closers) ("Should we play a new song we've never played before?/Should we play a fucking song from Folie à Deux?"). Very disappointingly, there was no waltz at the end as was tradition. But we did get theatrics.

LA featured a new twist, 2 8 Ball songs per night. We were unprepared. We did not have the setlists until after the 8 balls hit. They also taught us there could be repeats. We'll get to Pete's Very Specific Phrasing of his explanation after this segment.

Day 8 was GINASFS ("Should we play an old ass b side? no Should we play an old B side?") followed by America's Suitehearts ("Should we play a song off Folie à Deux?"). (GINASFS did not get a codename (other than generally standing for Gay Is Not A Synonym For Shitty), America's Suitehearts' codename was ASS)

Day 9 we got another (After) Life Of The Party ("Should we play an old B side?"), followed by Bang The Doldrums ("Should we play another old one?/Is this one gonna be a doozy?") (Codenames were Sierra Amazon and then Yankee Hotel Hotel. Because the pirate song Yo Ho Hos.) You can see Pete's written his part of Doldrums on the setlist!

Also on day 9 in response to "The magic 8 ball cannot be intimidated, cannot be bartered with. It seeks not friends nor cares for enemies that it makes" Patrick said "This 8 ball gets more intimidating every night" and was met with "I know. The 8 ball does not care how much you rehearse any of this shit". Truer words have never been spoken.

For day 10 it was back to a single 8 ball song, The Patron Saint Of Liars And Fakes ("Should we play a song off that record where we were sitting on a fucking couch on the cover?", Codename: PATRIZZY S). Pete was clearly feeling very inspired for the code names these days.

We also have more information and confirmation to their obfuscation efforts, someone who went to la2(day 9) also said on discord that their tour guide "said that even the crew other than one front of house person doesn’t get to know the surprise song in advance bc they sound check it in the inner ears only".

Days 8 and 9 were back to back with each other, so naturally, the reasonable thing to do with those hours between shows was to give an interview, and then a whole other secret show:

The interview gave us the very important information that once a song is played in the 8 ball it becomes fair game on the setlist. We thought that was to clarify that GINASFS got a repeat on the 8 ball slot. It wasn't and that very night we found out it meant "it becomes fair game at ANY point on the setlist". That answer also features him masterfully dodging the question of what GINASFS means to him.

It also inexplicably featured Pete pulling out a bunny puppet, that he proceeded to have answer "only the questions i'm nervous about". Look it's a lot to list here, so here's a compilation of every emotional support bunny moment, ft. Patrick interacting with the bunny. So far it hasn't been seen again.

It is very important that everyone reading this knows they had spinny chairs.

There were also other nice things to know (some overlap with the bunny supercut) like Patrick's not at all revisionist sounding take on the hiatus' meaning, Patrick's neighbor trying to be very tactful about the MANIA-sm(f)s wait and Joe being happy to be back. Oh yea and we found out that at no point did the flamethrower bass come with training in pyrotechnics

Pete spoke at one point during the show, and mentioned getting high and staring at a friend pissing, as a Wentzian metaphor and also as a story that happened to him.

Unmentioned until now but The Academy Is… were openers for Wrigley and this subleg of the tour. In Wrigley Sisky took over bass playing for Saturday. And he did it again on day 9. Not only that, but Bilvy finally sang his part during the performance of Sophomore Slump which was added to the main setlist for that night.

And that's not how we found out 8 ball songs are fair game to any placement on the setlist. We found out because during the attic scene they played Homesick At Space Camp.

Oh yeah and one of these shows was on July 3rd, you know what that means… That's right, it's Terminator 2 day, only significant thing to happen. There's no songs aptly named for the day after this. Pete made 2 whole references to Terminator 2. 0 references to the other country that celebrates independence the same day as the Philippines.

It's become increasingly apparent that Pete sometimes adds more narrative to his recurrent speeches, here's the version of his screwtop bottle of wine speech from day 7 where he adds a step after drinking.

Day 8 featured the lava boots speech, and a little about when they moved to LA in the pre-non-encore speech, without any details. But it was something that was rattling in his brain

He also added more for his pre-non-encore speech on day 9. This one's heavy. He talks about their time recording FUTCT and laying under a blanket thinking about death. And how he doesn't lay under a blanket thinking about death anymore

To bring things into something more upbeat, there was a lot of banter on day 10, including one where they almost spoil succession, ft. Andy intervening to take this tour into a real comedy act.

And now for the Fashion & Friendship corner, because fuck it, Pete keeps getting described as being in his Malibu MILF for Gay People era, and they sure are friends:

Our resident Barbara Millicent Wentz, at some point, got an update to his poncho

And on day 9 updated his outfit. Here's another look at the jacket. Other than that he's kept the leather and hoodies. Not the homework though. The roses are also safe, Pete's breath not so much.

Joe was spotted wearing a whole new different t-shirt (also helping a fan out in that vid), or rather the same t-shirt he wore earlier that day. It's still an incredibly momentous update. His commitment to wear a plain grey t-shirt so his admittedly extremely sexy guitar can shine and he's matching it is remarkable.

Andy got some bracelets too!! And he didn't share. We now know why he's packed only one change of clothes, he's living in the TREE

Patrick's hat for California was his green baseball cap with the crysmiley, and his black descendants hat with a leather-y jacket with the era's logo for day 7.

And of course, Patrick is a great hugger, and their friends are very tall.

Also the BMO Stadium was arranged with a walkway, they made good use of it.

i have a theory about the LA shows. so there’s five of em right? the first show we got a lot of bullets and old demo tracks, LA2 we got 10 three cheers songs, LA3 we got black parade and tbp demo tracks INCLUDING KILL ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND ALL THE ANGELS, and i think tonight we’re going to get a lot of danger days and danger days demo tracks…

but there’s a fifth night…what if they debuted another new song….live…

Tried Perfect World.

Used to play it a lot when I was a kid, wanted to see what changed.

Well. There's an opening now. Cool. Really well-made. Animations, fur, all that stuff.

And the Untamed look pretty well now. Mostly Venomancers, they even have animated hair.

The rest of the races are... Exactly as they were. Well. The hair is different (and some options are gone). But other than that - same old shit.

I took a look at the starting location (grass moves when I run through it! I may remember wrong, but pretty sure back in my time there was no grass at all other than harvestable herbs), checked the shop (mounts that weren't there back in my time look well. Ones that were already there looks exactly the same), killed some critter to see the animations (same old, same old), logged off and uninstalled.

I mean. Some parts of it do look better now.

But over the years since I've left it I had been spoiled by stuff like nice controls, and voice acting, and great animations, and combat that's fluid even when you DON'T have any attacks except for you basic one... Not to mention that "all character models are the same quality" thing that games that AREN'T PW tend to have... So yeah. It was fun when I was a kid, but trying to play now is like trying to experience the toddler's joy of eating sand again. It just won't work.

Wanted to try C9. Pretty sure I used to play it in the past. But I guess they don't want me. They claim the password or ID is invalid, but I triple-checked, so it's clear they just hate me based on the tiny little detail that is my location (despite them even still offering Russian as a language for their launcher). Pity.

Lineage II. That's what I'm gonna try. Definitely available (4Game offers it, so yea. I can play for sure), and people like it so might be worth trying. Though it may be the very same game I once abandoned without even creating a character due to over-frequent, noob-oriented voiced tips. But even if I'm right and it's THAT game, I'll try to endure.

It's. So. Boring!

Like, there's two things that are good: you can play as a skeleton and NPCs acknowledge that you're a skeleton.

That's it.

The "customizable" settings are LEAST customizable I've ever seen. What's the point of even offering an option to change keybinds if in half the cases game won't agree with any alternative you decide on?

You can't take a non-combat stance. You run at all times with sword in hand. Well. You can walk if you want. But still. Sword in hand.

Jumping? That's a strange word. LA2 does not know its meaning.

Stuff dying in one hit in tutorial may be okay, but I got through the tutorial, I went outside... Things that I managed to find (and the world is FUCKING EMPTY) also died in one hit.

So, yeah. Uninstalled. It's shit.

TLOU episode 8

- David from the video game had a lot more charm like a seasoned pedophile. Which he was. It was a video game n all, but u could see the way he looked at Ellie was wuish mcm nak makan la2 tu gak la 1st time jumpa pun. Oh yeah im not talking about his penchant for cannibalism.

David from the show is not half as scary. He seems torn with his character.

-I think I'm beginning to understand why they didnt write Ellie as badass n self reliant as the one in the game. I think theyre trying to put further emphasis on how dramatic the change will be in the next season. I mean they didnt completely emasculate her ka apa. Its still there, but its not dominant how truly fcking badass n cool n independent she was.

Again, I didnt feel the terror n hatred of what it felt like seeing Ellie hunted down by this pedophile/cannibal of a man whos about to eat her both ways. But lemme tell you, it was almost paralysing trying to escape from him in the diner level, mmkay. Fcking hell.

Its watered down for sake of the flow or whatever.

6.5 because I still think everyone did a good job n heck im just happy tht the story is finding itself into more fans.

I was in a writing session with someone and it wasn’t going very well. Nicest fella in the world, but he’s like a… More of like a… He’s not so much of a songwriter, but he’s a musical guy. Played piano for Beck for years and played with many bands, and he’s an absolute genius. So we’re sitting there in the studio, and that guy had left and I had to leave at like - I remember I had to leave at like 6 o'clock, and it was like 10 minutes to 6, and I was like, 'I’m not finished yet, I wanna do something. Can you just like play some kinda like Fleetwood-y chords on the piano?’ And he started playing these like [hums the start of the Since We’re Alone guitar line] and I just was like, 'Alright, stick that microphone on, I’m going in.’ And I started singing [mumbles along to the pre-chorus melody], right? And I had all these melodies, and none of the matched up- there was no verse, no pre, no chorus, blah blah blah, and just had loads of stuff of me going [mumbles along to chorus melody]. And then about four hours later, I get home and I’m watching TV and I just get this email from Greg, and he’d sat and made a full track - that he’d recorded cause he can play every instrument… He’d sat and - Like, we did this in like 10 minutes, and he’d sat and made this track and sent me all the parts put together and everything, and then the next day, I just wrote the song. And I just knew what I wanted to write about and kinda - Since We’re Alone and Fire Away have a similar kind of idea behind them. They play differently with a different vibe, but yeah. Greg Kurstin is just an absolute genius, so I’m looking to spend a lot more time with him next year.

I am so happy (and maybe a little envious, I don’t have any louie friends) you are in LA for the show and meeting up with some of your friends! The beach photos you posted were gorgeous and calming, too! So peaceful. I’m sure tonight is going to be amazing. It makes me so happy to see louies meeting up with one another. Even if people (Larries) act up at the show tonight, it brings me peace to know so many of you are showing up for Louis. I love our little community. I only wish I could be there too! Have so much fun and I will anxiously await your post concert report!

Thank you, darling. I’m really really excited for it all, and as many have said, once the concert starts, the Larrie nonsense all but disappears. I’m not sure I’ll be that coherent afterward! Going to museums and restaurants tomorrow and then the LA2 concert and then hours after that— the flight home!

Don’t feel alone without Louie friends 😘. I think that’s the reality for a lot of fans. Hopefully after this tour, things will change. Really glad he’ll have lots of support tonight.
