#love on tour mohegan
May 20th - date of significance? Yes.
Harry released Harry’s House on May 20, 2022. After waiting many months to release Fine Line on Blondie’s 30th birthday, and after writing the bulk of this album in mid 2020, we can assume he chose this date for a reason. Here’s my proposed reason why.
But first - this requires acknowledging that the official, public Haylor origin story of 2012 is incomplete. Yes, they met in late March, eventually took a break, and picked up again in the fall. But based on Harry’s random flights, their mutual habit of vanishing simultaneously (no photos, fan or otherwise) and the lyrical information they’ve disclosed over the years - there is way more to the story.
Let’s call May, June, and very July of that year the Cruel Summer of 2012.
A bunch of stuff likely seemed to have happened in early May (that’ll be a future post about how the Sweeran origin story is also contradictory). But here we are, mid May.
Taylor is living in LA and mostly in the studio. There’s a stretch mid-month where she seems to disappear. Recall - this is the summer where she rents the house in Hyannis Port for many months.
On May 20th, 5 boys and their crew are spotted at the airport in London, flying to Boston Logan to embark on a couple months touring/doing promo in North America. Take a look at young H:
Tumblr media
He is CARRYING ON an acoustic guitar, which he can barely play, rather than sending it ahead with all their other instruments and luggage.
The band lands in Boston; 4 guys head to the Mohegan Sun in CT (where they will play a concert soon) and are photographed by fans. And this guy? Vanishes.
Recall the secret message for Everything Has Changed, which Taylor brought to Ed almost totally done for recording on May 27, 2012:
Tumblr media
This song, if you’ll recall, talks of a green-eyed smiling man whose eyes “look like coming home”.
Red was finalized at the very beginning of June; Taylor met the Kennedy grandsons on July 4th weekend. The timing does not work, especially since it was recorded in late May (with pap photos of Taylor and Ed outside the Santa Monica studio that day).
But MORE that that, something else occurs that day. It’s described in a 2014 song by Alex and Sierra written by Harry, and outlined in greater detail by Taylor on folklore. It’s a day described in august:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And…ah…perhaps this was also the date for some of the other events described in august?
And lest you think the whole thing wasn’t significant to Harry…by May 27 or 28, the boy gets his second tattoo. It’s a small capital A on the inside of his left elbow, seen for the first time here:
Tumblr media
In an interview given by the boys in early July, Harry is asked about the tattoo (which had been drawn by Zayn, our OG Haylor). I cannot link directly to the interview - search for One Direction Granada TV interview on YT. And at 2:30, Harry is asked the significance of the tattoo.
Harry: oh, it’s for my….ah…ah..it’s for me mum.
Boys: laugh heartily at him
Louis: No it’s not! No, it’s not! It’s for a mystery blond!!
Reader, recall that Blondie publishes all of her songs as Taylor A. Swift.
Ten years later, on May 20, 2022, Harry’s House is released.
And on May 20, 2023, during a rain show at Boston’s Gillette stadium, Taylor Swift tells the crowd “I’ve never been so happy in my life in all aspects of my life…my life finally feels like it makes sense.” And that she will play them “this song, which brings me a lot of happy memories”: Question…?
ETA: Want to know what his next two tattoos are? He has them in this late June photo
Tumblr media
- the word “Hi” (“all I know is we said hello, and your eyes looks like coming home)
- the (misquoted) lyrics from Temper Trap’s Sweet Disposition, which happen to be the line which follows *the secret message for Treacherous*. Which he starts kissing while singing love songs starting the day after he gets the tattoo.

As part of their Up All Night-tour, the boys are in Uncasville as they play at Mohegan Sun Arena. The concert starts with Na Na Na, followed by Stand Up, I Wish and the medley of covers like I Gotta Feeling, Stereo Hearts, Valerie and Torn. Also on the setlist are Moments and Gotta Be You. From the moment Louis joins Liam on the touch during More Than This, they interact and Zayn clearly doesn't like it. He even looks a bit jealous, so when he sings ... cause I can love you more than this ... Zayn looks directly at Liam
Tumblr media
Up All Night
Tell Me a Lie
Everything About You
Use Somebody
One Thing
Save You Tonight
At the end of What Makes You Beautiful Liam and Zayn playfight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The very last song the boys play, is I Want

View from the Ground – Louis Tomlinson – Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT – 5/26/23
Simone and I bought the tickets the day they went on sale back in November. Nose Bleeds. But it was the best we could get that day. The same day we bought tickets for Nashville and Boston (coming in July). We couldn’t quite believe one of our local shows was the tour kick off.
The day before the show, Simone got an alert about a flash sale for tickets in a lower section for $29/ticket. Easy decision…we upgraded.
Because we had seated tickets, we were able to be relaxed about entry—which was nice. We had a nice meal, and casually walked into the venue and lined up to buy merch.
Tumblr media
It was fun to see fellow fans--some dressed to the nines, some in Louis!Cosplay, some already decked out in merch.
The Snarls came on right at 7 p.m., followed by the Academics. Both sets were good, about half an hour each. And then, at about 9:10 p.m. local time, Louis took the stage for the opening night of his 2023 Faith in the Future World Tour.
He was magical. The stage is bigger, more screens, slicker production. The curtain with the smiley face is gone. The man strides out with confidence in himself and his band. He has a swagger that hides any nerves he might feel--and he did say he'd been nervous, but you wouldn't know it by appearance.
Tumblr media
We went to both Boston and Washington, DC in 2022, and the vibe overall is different (at least at this first show). The crowd is more *dressed* -- cosplay, costumes, hats, a few boas, bralettes and short skirts. On the one hand I love that people take the time to plan an outfit to go out—on the other hand, I sort of miss the casual look of last year’s shows. Also, far fewer pride flags. I mean, a fraction of what we saw in Boston and DC last year. Not sure if that will change as the tour progresses, but I hope it does. There was one hanging over the balcony and a few waving in the crowd, but at Boston last year it was virtually the whole crowd waving flags.
We hadn’t seen the leaked set list prior to the show, so we were surprised at each of the songs we hadn’t expected him to play. In particular, I loved She is Beauty, We are World Class, which is one of my favorites. The rainbow lights for that song made it clear to me that he’s beginning to embrace his LGBTQ icon status.
Tumblr media
I can’t wait for Nashville and Boston in July—I’m going to try my hand at pit again for those shows (I spectacularly bailed on pit in DC last year).
Set List:
The Greatest
Kill My Mind
Bigger Than Me
Lucky Again
Holding on to Heartache
Face the Music
We Made It
Night Changes
Chicago
Saved by a Stranger
Written all over your Face
All This Time
She is Beauty, We are World Class
Copy of a Copy of a Copy
Walls
505
Back to You
Angels Fly
Where Do Broken Hearts Go?
Saturdays

2014 Sing-Off tour
Tumblr media
For the first time since the start of the series, The Sing-Off tapped into their deep pool of talented groups and took a few of them on the road in early 2014. Season 4 winners Home Free were joined by 4th and 5th place groups The Filharmonic and VoicePlay for a 6-week whirlwind tour across the contiguous U.S. They were joined at most shows by other past Sing-Off competitors and/or professional a cappella groups.
In addition to the rotating roster of guests, there were a couple surprise cast changes. Emoni Wilkins from Ten took over for Honey Larochelle with VoicePlay. And with Adam Rupp on paternity leave for the first half of the tour, Home Free recruited Aaron "Heatbox" Heaton to fill in on percussion.
.
Rehearsals
All three groups worked on their individual sets before arriving in chilly upstate New York, but then they had just two days of intensive rehearsals to learn, relearn, and refine elements of the full show before they hit the road.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.
Performances
The program for the shows was a nice mix of fan-favorite pieces from the competition, established material from the groups' repertoires, and new songs. All of the tour dates were professionally recorded, but no official compilation of the full show has been released publicly, so I've done my best to reconstruct the setlists and find the best quality recordings available.
.
Group opener
youtube
Fun. medley — "Some Nights" / "We Are Young" / "Carry On" (7 March 2014 — Atlantic City, NJ)
What better way to kick off the tour shows than with the medley that started the television season? And with just three groups instead of all ten, some different singers got a chance to take the lead.
.
The Filharmonic set
"This Is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan (1 March — Philadelphia, PA)
"Treasure" by Bruno Mars (7 March 2014 — Atlantic City, NJ)
"I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith (7 March 2014 — Atlantic City, NJ)
"It's Gonna Be Me" by the Backstreet Boys (1 March — Philadelphia, PA)
"One More Night" by Maroon 5 (7 March 2014 — Atlantic City, NJ)
.
youtube
sing-off — VoicePlay vs. The Filharmonic — "Bye Bye Bye" by *NSYNC (8 March 2014 — Mohegan Sun casino in CT)
VoicePlay's first brush with elimination during the competition came in the very first episode. For the tour, The Filharmonic stepped into the Princeton Footnotes' spot to create a 6-on-6 battle-style performance as a transition between their sets.
.
VoicePlay set
"Love On Top" by Beyoncé (20 February — Boston, MA)
"Can't Believe It" by Flo Rida, feat. Pitbull (7 March — Atlantic City, NJ)
Road Trip medley (20 February — Boston, MA)
A Crimpella medley (7 March — Atlantic City, NJ)
"Don't Speak" by No Doubt (20 February — Boston, MA)
"Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry (7 March — Atlantic City, NJ)
.
youtube
sing-off — VoicePlay vs. Home Free — "Survivor" by Destiny's Child (8 March 2014 — Mohegan Sun casino in CT)
Since neither VoicePlay or Home Free were in danger during episode 4 of The Sing-Off, they used the arrangements they'd prepared to make a very fun music video. The tour producers liked it, too, so they used it as part of the transition between the two groups.
.
youtube
The (Extra) Ultimate Beat-Off (29 March 2014 — Hollywood, CA)
The beatboxers from all three groups teamed up in an incredible demonstration of vocal percussion and sound effects. On the final night of the tour, Heatbox — Home Free's sub for the first couple weeks during Adam's paternity leave — rejoined Layne, Niko, and Adam for an extra entertaining four-man jam session.
.
youtube
sing-off — The Filharmonic vs. Home Free — "I'm Alright" by Kenny Loggins (9 March — Amherst, NY (U. of Buffalo))
During episode 5 of the competition, all of the remaining groups were paired off for ultimate sing-off battles. Home Free and The Filharmonic teamed up to create a performance so delightful that they had to include it in the tour shows.
.
Home Free set
"Cruise" by Florida Georgia Line (15 March — Chicago, IL)
"Colder Weather" by Zac Brown Band (20 March — Milwaukee, WI)
"Your Man" by Josh Turner (8 March 2014 — Mohegan Sun casino in CT)
"Wake Me Up" by Avicii (20 February — Boston, MA)
Guilty Pleasures medley (8 March 2014 — Mohegan Sun casino in CT) ** with Heatbox's guilty pleasure (20 February — Boston, MA)
"Life Is A Highway" by Rascal Flatts (27 March — San Francisco, CA)
"Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash (29 March 2014 — Hollywood, CA)
.
Group closer
youtube
"Please Don't Stop the Music" by Rihanna / "Wanna Be Starting Something" by Michael Jackson (29 March 2014 — Hollywood, CA)
Since they had the two main groups who performed it on the show, the arrangers took the final section of the opening medley from the Party Anthems episode and reconfigured it for the tour. By expanding the sample in the original song, they added some audience participation to create an even bigger finish.
.
Encore
youtube
"Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen (27 March — San Francisco, CA)
After the high of the closing number, the groups eased the audience down to earth by bringing things back to basics. No microphones, no amplification of any kind. Just seventeen talented voices.
.
Backstage & travel time
Like a lot of jobs in the performing arts, singers are often in a situation of hurry-up-and-wait. That can lead to downtime shenanigans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, of course, everyone wanted to look as good as they sounded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.
Downtime fun & other work
The tour schedule was fairly packed, but some folks did manage to get in some sight-seeing and extra curricular outings on their few days off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not to mention working on other projects during their free time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, of course, they had to keep their singing engines fueled by sampling the local cuisine.
Tumblr media
.
If you've made all the way through this monster of a post, all I can say is…
Tumblr media
…and I hope you enjoyed it.

One month and counting until the 5 Seconds of Summer Show.
Now although it is July and the tour begins at the end of this month, I have now reached a month until the North America leg begins with my first show kicking off the tour. I should probably go ghost on social media soon to avoid any kind of spoilers. I have officially welcomed in every last bit of stress that has come alongside planning for my shows. By the end of the year, I will have officially been a fan of 5SOS for TEN years so I deemed it appropriate to be a little bit extra for this tour than I have before. As of right now, I will be attending the Mohegan Sun show, both nights in Boston, Madison Square Garden, and Chicago. I have begun preparing the intense itinerary that comes a long with going on tour with your favorite band, with all the hotels, bus tickets, and flights. I am in the process of hand-painting jeans commemorating the last 10 years with the band and it continues to be very stressful despite how well everything is turning out so far.
I posted a snippet of my creative process on Sunday and the video has since blown up on TikTok. While I love the kind words that so many strangers are leaving on the video, I hope this leads to me connecting with more 5SOS fans over all. I’m looking forward to meeting and making new friends throughout this tour. I decided that I wanted to go full DIY for this go round and am surely on my way to completing all of the projects I’ve created for myself. Instead of purchasing multiple pairs of album earrings to contribute to last years Youngblood earrings serve, I instead learned how to make the earrings myself and turned all of 5SOS’ albums into pairs for me to rock at each show.
Tumblr media
With Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour taking the world by storm this year, it came with a lot of creativity and fun ideas for people in other fanbases. Hence why I have also began making up as many 5SOS themed friendship bracelets to trade or give away at shows. Although it is tiring and time consuming, I love seeing everything come together and cannot wait for the shows next month! This one is going to be special I can feel it.

Throwback: Tone Loc-Wild Thing
Tumblr media
Tone Lōc's "Wild Thing" was one of three singles on his 1989 debut album Lōc-ed After Dark. The raspy-voiced rapper from Los Angeles collaborated with Young MC on the song inspired by Fab Five Freddy's dialogue in Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It. Freddy had asked a woman to do the "wild thing" which was slang for sex. Michael Ross co-produced "Wild Thing" and founded Delicious Vinyl with Matt Dike asked Young MC to work with Tone Lōc on a song based on the phrase after hearing it in the movie. The lyrics were simple but conveyed an adult topic in a way that was safe for radio. Dike and Ross sampled Van Halen's "Jamie's Cryin,'" "The Dogs" and the trailer from Lee's film, and the Rocky Raccoon tribute for the beat. "Wild Thing" took off and became one of the era's biggest hits. Tamra Davis directed the video and used Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love" visual as the prototype and "Wild Thing" was played on MTV around the clock. Tracy Camilla Johns, who starred in She's Gotta Have It, appeared in the video. "Wild Thing" still has a pulse in the culture having been sampled 72 times most recently on Rico Nasty's "Money" feat Flo Milli. Snoop Dogg and Bob Sinclair recorded an electro version of the song released in 2012. Tone Lōc still tours and did a show at the Mohegan Sun Casino with Flavor Flav, Kid N Play, and more in January.

Michael Bublé has some regrets. The Grammy-winning Canadian singer, a British Columbia native who is a huge Canucks fan, rescheduled the June 15, 2011 show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on his Crazy Love Tour so he could attend Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Canucks and Bruins in Vancouver. Bublé’s hopes of seeing the Canucks hoist their first Cup were dashed as the Bruins won, 4-0, and he returned to Uncasville to perform the rescheduled show the next day to a group of angry fans. “You know what man, that was a mistake. I look back and I go, if I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t have done it,” Bublé, 48, said on the “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast. “But dude, I canceled in Connecticut. There was a lot of people that didn’t give — I mean, sure, there are some Bruins fans, but a lot of people didn’t care. And so when I moved it, I came back, and that night was, it wasn’t great.” Michael Bublé’ on the “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast. Spittin' ChicletsDejected Canucks players after losing to the Bruins in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 15, 2011. Getty ImagesPaul Bissonnette asked Bublé if there were “boo birds.” “Boo birds? Thousands just, dude, boo birds? People just left,” Bublé replied. “Like, the first song finished, and people literally had just come to leave. That’s not a joke.” Bublé then gave a middle finger to the camera, indicating fans flipped him off and walked out of the arena. Had the Canucks been able to pull off the victory, Bublé might feel differently about the whole ordeal. “You know what’s funny, man? If the Canucks had won, I’d probably have, you know, totally thought it was worth it,” he said. “But that they lost just sucked.” Michael Bublé’ performs during a show in Monterrey, Mexico on Oct. 4, 2023. Getty Images Fiery riots erupted in Vancouver after the Canucks’ Game 7 loss that resulted in a total of 887 charges being brought against 300 people. Perhaps Bublé will finally get his Stanley Cup wish this season, as the Canucks entered Wednesday with 46 points, the second-most in the NHL. #Michael #Bublé #regrets #canceling #show #Canucks #Stanley #Cup #loss

May 26th 2023 | Instagram
While traveling to her show at Mohegan Sun, Tenille took to Instagram to express how happy the music she is currently creating is making her. Her point of view on karma, encouraging you to feel ALL of the feelings, and reminding all of us how amazing we are, was something that I personally needed to hear today and recently. I love this era Tenille is embarking on - she is using her voice more than ever, she’s speaking her truths, and is the most vulnerable I have personally ever seen her.
The knit top that held vibrant colors of green, yellow, white, and purple was the perfect nod to summer beginning, while also adding a very Taylor Swift - esque feel to her wardrobe. The top is from a Canada based company, known and loved by Tenille, called Roots. I have personally never owned something from this brand, but I ran and purchased this top. The quality looks absolutely unreal, the colors are never something I would imagine working together, but they effortlessly collide in this way. I hope to see Tenille adding more summer like pieces to her wardrobe as she continues playing shows and touring!

BACK TO CENTER Mohegan U Hockey #2 by Ryan Taylor & Joshua Harwood Genre: M/M Sports Romance
Eckie There are ways to get ahead in college hockey, but having a meltdown, trying to get rid of your coach, and stalking his boyfriend isn’t one of them. Is it really a surprise that I wound up in a hospital facing my demons instead of getting ready to play for the pros and taking care of my baby? I needed the world’s biggest redo, but the probability of a second chance was about the same as…
Jack I was done with relationships. A fractured heart had made sure my walls were high, and my shields were strong. There wasn’t a man I couldn’t resist—until Eckie.
Back to Center is a story of redemption and the unexpected love a man finds in a friend he never knew he’d have. It also includes exciting hockey, a coach/player dynamic, great communication, unquenchable longing giving way to irrepressible heat, an adorable baby, and a perfect HEA.

Tour Announcement/Live Album.
When the clock strikes twelve on the first day of the year, my brain immediately begins thinking about what the new year will bring for me as a 5SOS fan. Normal people have milestone markers such as babies, graduations, weddings, and every year I am the one waiting for my favorite band to announce a tour. Last week, the boys announced The 5 Seconds of Summer Show coming to arenas across North America in August through September. And if that wasn’t enough on my heart strings, they also announced a new live album of their Royal Albert Hall show from back in September.
Tumblr media
Almost ten years of being a fan of this band and I will never be able to properly express the feeling that I get in my stomach when they announce a tour and share content, no matter how much I talk about it and how many words I write. This photo specifically had me even more excited for this upcoming tour because it is going to be a celebration for sure. After all these years, my absolute least favorite thing to do is buy 5SOS tickets on presale AND on sale. The nervous energy is so high everytime and it is always a mental war I wouldn’t wish on anyone. The band introduced a new VIP package called the Friends of Friends Lounge that includes the soundcheck package, a signed lithograph, exclusive merch, a drink on them, a memorabilia display, photo booth, etc. Not to mention a pit ticket included in the package as well. They sold me at “memorabilia display highlighting the band’s career.” After fees it came to almost $500 and as much as I was originally hesitant, Ally talked me into it after reminding me of how many unfortunate regrets I have experienced in the past when it comes to them. Her exact words were “don’t make this another Pier 17 story.” She’s so real for that. With that being said, I pulled the damn trigger on the VIP lounge for the first night of the tour at Mohegan Sun Arena and I don’t have a single regret. I cannot wait to experience everything. I was fortunate to successfully score floor tickets to the two Boston shows as well. I have felt a major shift in my mental health this week with the excitement of getting tickets and actually having luck getting the ones I wanted. I still am going to keep an eye on the Madison Square Garden show of course but as of right now, I feel so fulfilled and grateful. And the cherry on top was knowing I will be experiencing this tour alone and not allowing anyone to ruin my time. This tour is going to be special and I’m excited to begin thinking about outfit ideas.
I’ve listened to the Royal Albert Hall live album the last two days driving to work and I love 5SOS’ appreciation for being a live band. Hearing “Outer Space/Carry On” live in 2022 really got me and I love that it is now commemorated on an album for me to listen to whenever I want to. Here’s to another year of memories with the most special band.
