He’s gonna be a Spacer War Hero. Add in a little biotic-combat and we’re halfway here. I just need to design him, name him, and work on his backstory more.

"Or maybe you don't and it's just me being selfish, thinking that you would." This was exactly how he'd feared the moment would turn out. Why did he even have to try being brave and tell Shepard how he was feeling. Jeff was suddenly feeling like the biggest idiot in the galaxy for confessing his feelings. Well, at least the man wasn't laughing - like the last person who had been in Shepard's shoes back in flight school - that the guy with the creaky little legs had fallen in love with someone.

"You know. Just forget about it, okay? For both our sakes." Boy he was becoming more nervous the longer Jeff looked at him, so he eventually averted his eyes.

Did he still expect that Shepard was starting to laugh? The pilot wasn't sure what's been louder, the pumping basses of their surroundings or the beating of his own heart. He should know better than that. This one was way too nice for his own good and taking him seriously since the day he became his CO.

Samara tells her story about how she chased Nihlus across a planet for two weeks. Squadmate heavy story, very little Shepard in this fic. Full disclosure: I love this fic to death, but I am horrible at updating it. (Rated T)

Lungs: a multi-chapter drabble about Thane/fShepard. Just a bunch of stories about them falling in love and being a mess in no particular order. (Rated T)

Departed: a two-shot AU about Legion falling in love with fShepard, but she’s already in an established relationship with Garrus. Told from Legion’s POV. During the Quarian-Heretic Geth battle above Rannoch, a piece of Legion’s code gets downloaded, rewritten and sold. It’s uploaded as a passenger ship’s AI. Shepard and Garrus have booked passage on this ship, under the guise of needing to be transported to a far off planet. The pair uncover a shady secret on the ship while also trying to free this small part of Legion, who becomes more and more unstable. Lots of OC murder involved. (Rated T)

M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?

I have an idea that I'm toying with for a Merc Shepard/Assassin Thane story as well as my Cerberus Shepard which is currently on hold while I work on my Shoker story. But yes, I have quite a few things in the works.

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)

I'm somewhere in the middle. I like to plot the bare bones of the story when I start. I put the things that have to happen for the story to progress with what I have in my head. But along the way, I leave room for some flexibility. Because you never really know where a story will take you.

U: A pairing you might like to write for, but haven’t tried yet.

I'm sure there are a ton that I could write for, especially in the ME universe, but at the moment, I think Zaeed/Shepard or even Wrex/Shepard could be fun. I love both of those assholes.

What's your all-time favorite ship?

I have never loved and thought about a ship as much as my fe3h ot4. I feel like they shouldn't count, since 50%+ of the content is headcanon and self-generated, but claude x lorenz x hilda x fae occupy my mind and will surely represent some huge part of me if or when I'm able to set them down for some new interest. Real ships that would be more comprehensible answers: dragon age's warden* x zevran, and dbz's vegeta x bulma.

*This could be anyone's warden but if it's mine, it's my mage Illusen Amell.

How many works do you have on AO3?

When I started posting for fe3h, I deleted some past works to distance myself from a fandom I'd grown to despise. At this time, 65.

What's your total AO3 word count?

A respectable 532,632.

Do you reply to comments, why or why not?

I used to reply right away, lately it's taken me months. I feel like I have to either earn being able to reply by posting enough or feel like I need to keep the comment in my inbox to treasure before letting it go. I shouldn't do this probably and will try and get back into replying more frequently in the coming weeks.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

I don't write angst. I write hurt/comfort. I have 3 fics with angst related tags but ... I'm a big blubbery baby and I need to write happy endings. I appreciate reading angst, but thus far haven't really stayed with it entirely. I'll say A Little Bit Of Memory even though this isn't one of my fics that uses the angst tag. It's a T rated yurileth fic that takes place four thousand years post canon.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

I'll go with Trust Or Something Like It, which is an E rated syldue fic which was planned to be a smut fic but ended up with a rather long introduction and a very sweet conclusion, I feel. I went into it just looking to write sylvain into a compromising position and I fell in love with their dynamic.

Do you write crossovers?

I don't! But I wouldn't be opposed. I'd be more interested in writing AUs, but crossovers can be fun.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yes. I have had to delete 3 comments off my fics. Two were only because of my My Unit OC in the My Unit | Byleth tag. But when I used to read Awakening fic everyone always used the My Unit | Robin | Reflet tag for their My Unit OC's. I stand by it. The other comment was antisemitic.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

17/65 of my fics feature smut! Which is such a smaller figure than I'd expect. I'm very proud of the intimacy I write. Always consensual. Always queer. Often featuring a trans character. And 8/17 of my smut fics feature polyamory as a feature, so I write a fair amount of group scenes.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I've seen my blog on mirror sites before, and so yeah, I think anything I've posted to tumblr has been stolen.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not yet! I'd love to work with someone on this if anyone's interested.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not really. I talk to people and ask for their input, but not to the extent of us each writing a section or working together as co-writers would. I am uncertain if I'm ready for that but there are some people I'd trust.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but dont' think you ever will?

I don't think it counts as a WIP because I have nothing else immediately written down but my fic On The Isle Of Thunder reached a stopping point and at the time was declared to be on indefinite hiatus and still is. It's an M rated world of warcraft, lor'themar theron x oc adventure & romance fic. I was playing the battle for azeroth expansion and I just hated it so much. I don't know that I can ever go back to that universe.

What are your writing strengths?

I'd like to think I'm good at finding character voices. I'll often look at / listen to dialogue to try and get pacing and vocal ticks, expressions and maybe even a canon phrase or two into what I'm writing. I'd like to think I'm good at setting the emotional mood in my smut fics. And maybe I'm good at balancing having a larger number of characters in a scene.

What are you writing weaknesses?

I'm repetitive. I worry I over-describe movement and under-describe atmosphere and setting. I worry the characters I write are unrealistic when I want them to be relatable.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I think that this can be fun, but that writing in the vocal tags that the character is speaking another language but continuing the fic in the same language as originally if the perspective / narrator understands it, or not including the written dialogue if the perspective / narrator doesn't understand it, works just as well. I have used a word or two of various languages in the midst of my fics for the vibe, but I think if you had whole paragraphs that this would be annoying for people using screen readers.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

At all? On paper in a spiral notebook, I wrote a Betty and Veronica fic where they shared a bra because it made them more popular with the boys, but it was extremely Gay. My mother found it and I promised I would never write anything like it ever again (ha!), and I showed her the comic it was based on, where this was the same fucking plot but it was about a blue pick up truck (somehow gayer), because she was worried these events had happened to friends of mine.

Digitally? A wizard fandom that I don't want to mention by name that you can probably guess.

What's your favorite fic you've written?

Unfinished? My E rated fe3h ot4 soulmate au I Wanna Be Yours. I will finish it this year. It's my biggest project on ao3 (135k words so far), and even unfinished, I'm so proud of it. The emotions I wrote in it, the emotions I had writing it... My obsession. My labour of love.

Finished? My G rated fe3h dedue character study written for the CHOP zine Sacred Dedication. I don't know how obvious it would be to anyone I didn't tell overtly, but I ascribed meaning to the colors in his attire based on indigenous significance placed on the colors of a medicine wheel. I studied over a dozen indigenous prayers to inform the prayer I wrote for dedue, and had another native person read it because even then I was worried I might be too influenced by xianity. But I tried to be very sensitive about putting a soft layer of my experience into his beliefs for the sake of this fic, and I'm so proud of the finished product.

Ooo, fun!

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

I answered this already, so I'll go with a second choice. I've been seeing a lot of Shepard/Wrex lately? And I LOVE Wrex. He's one of my favorite characters. But frankly I'm not sure Wrex has any interest in relationships? And the way krogan (generally) think about romantic/sexual relationships is very different from humans. It just doesn't add up to me.

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

Hate is a strong word, because I only really dislike a few ships in ME and so far, nobody's turned me around. But lately I've really started to enjoy Shoker, which is a ship I was pretty indifferent to and rarely thought about at all previously.

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

Ahh this one's hard because I actually love this fandom? I wish people didn't take m!Shep vs femshep so seriously. Both performances have a lot of merit and are fairly different takes on the characters... it's fine to have a preference, but there are folks who can't seem to express that without putting the other down.

Just a little update.

I've been quiet, but that doesn't mean idle!

I've been rebuilding the existing parts of the mod in LE and setting things up using what I learned from the first go around.

It's going well. I'm waiting on a few things before I start putting audio in (synth v3 is on the way!)

Also... look, no promises... it's a lot of work, & so I want to make sure I give myself the out, in case I can't manage it... But, I've been building this with BroShep in mind, too.

BroShep only has a v1 synth right now but that could change soon. If it does, I might be able to get passable audio for him as well, and by that point I'll already have built the infrastructure to support his inclusion.

So... no promises. I'm just one person. But I really do want everyone who enjoys this romance to have the opportunity to experience it.

Debunking health-related IG posts

Post One:

The whole portrayal of this image is wrong; the body is efficient at ‘cleansing’ by itself. The liver is the body’s detoxification system and as such any product or food claiming to ‘detoxify’ or cleanse your system is unfortunately exaggerating its abilities. The symptoms the image is describing are common for those with a generally unhealthy diet, whilst some have no scientific backing whatsoever. 

The sugar cravings are most likely attributed to high sugar and low-fibre foods that are not slow-release, whilst belly fat is due to an overconsumption of calories (all adipose tissue acts as stores for excess sugar). 

Bloating and gas can come from a diet with little fruit and veg- this means low dietary fibre as well as poor gut flora which help absorb nutrients from food, causing gut problems.

There is no scientifically proven link between diet and skin condition (although if a certain diet or avoidance of foods work for you, stick with it!).

Low energy, again a claim from eating fast-release carbohydrates.

Overly sugary foods and liquids can cause bad breath (NHS, 2019).

Constipation is again due to a low fibre diet; insoluble carbohydrates such as cellulose act as roughage which aid peristalsis (rhythmic contraction of the gut).

Certain energy restrictive diets can improve cognitive function, but no paper I could find linked diet with mood (Brinkworth, Buckley, Noakes et al).

Post Two:

Again, another mysterious claim of ‘detox’. This one comes from a specific chemical in apples, mainly Phlorizidin. This is a drug that helps lower blood sugar concentrations and was previously considered as a treatment for Type 2 diabetes (the drug, not a diet of apples). However, this drug is inefficient at lowering blood sugar and better alternatives have been found.

There seems to be a common belief in pseudo-science that bile lets the liver excrete toxic or ‘bad’ substances; in all my studies there is no literature to support this, bile aids in digestion and is an alkaline mixture rich in bicarbonate ions to neutralise acidic chyme once it enters the duodenum. All excretion is facilitated by the kidneys, which essentially act as a filter for the blood.

Post Three:

There is some credence for celery juice’s ability to boost your immune system’s function due to its rich source of vitamins, particularly vitamin C which supports your immune by increasing the cellular processes of the cells that run it (Carr, Magini, 2017), but to say it removes ‘viral waste’ is ridiculous to say the least. Despite viral waste not even being a legitimate medical term, viral debris from destroyed cells will be removed by phagocytosis; white blood cells (phagocytes) engulf the cell, destroy it and absorb the remains.

Furthermore, common viruses such as the Flu are Pyro viruses, meaning they increase your body’s temperature. This is because your hypothalamus increases its ‘set point’ (the core body temperature) to kill the virus off. There is no scientific evidence to significantly suggest that celery juice aids this.

All in all this post is incredibly misleading.

Post Four:

The literature on this is extremely mixed, with some studies reporting inconclusive results and others reporting effects in contextual memories. All studies agree certain odours activate specific context-dependent memories (meaning there is no inclination to suggest that just because you’ve been sniffing rosemary you’re going to remember Avagadro’s number). All in all, there’s not enough scientific literature to draw a conclusion, and I have no clue where the author got their “75%” from.

I’ll reference a prominent paper on this below, but again this post is extremely misleading (Ball, Shoker, Miles. 2010).

Conclusion:

In summary, take IG posts with a pinch of salt! Medical facts are stretched or even falsified to create a satiating quote that we all wish to believe, of which the avid science student will often roll their eyes and scoff at. Before changing your diet and lifestyle, always consult a healthcare professional before doing so.

Note: If any information is factually incorrect please privately inform me with some scientific support and I will always correct my work- we could all learn a little more! However I do fact check to the best of my ability using accredited journals and studies published by the scientific community. I will not be naming the authors; my intent is to shame no one, but to inform the general public about evidence-driven science.
