So you can see a few things here, beyond the fact that he's very cute-
1. Notice (with a little difficulty maybe) that his head is tucked in between my fingers even as my thumb pets him. I didn't spend much time with him the day before this because of a migraine and I notice an increase in what I would call... Hmm, bond-affirming/comfort-seeking behaviors? After I have a day or two where I can't spend the time with him that I want to. This generally means he wants to stick his face between my fingers, and he's also very kissy (basically he Must preen my hand, its Imperative that he preens my hand, its So Important). I suspect this is to comfort himself with the fact that I'm back and have not disappeared and also as a tactic to reaffirm his bond with me. Basically, to tell me how great I am and how he will be the bestest husband in the world for me, his very favorite person in the world. Getting back on the same page hormonally, is a function I wouldn't be surprised to find.
2. You can see/hear a couple of the behaviors of "nesty calling" meant for a mate. He flicks his wing tips, he groans a call that rises in neediness if he thinks I will leave. When a pigeon has their face buried in their nest and is groaning like this and flicking their wings, its a pretty safe bet that they're inviting you in, if you're bonded. Of course its always based on context, but in this instance, you can see what a bonded bird is doing.

I saw your post about how peafowl are ... resource and knowledge intensive to keep. Is there a bird you would recommend for beginners? Are quail easy?
Compared to peafowl or even to chickens, yes, but that also depends on what you mean by quail. There are a BUNCH of species that are able to be kept in captivity, depending on where you live. If you're in the USA, coturnix and button quail are both domesticated species that do well in relatively small enclosures (think, a large rabbit hutch or one of those little "coops" from tractor supply co that they think are for chickens but are only suitable for babies at best). Most people that want to keep quail for meat or eggs are keeping coturnix not buttons but if you just want cute pets, button quail are adorable. The males of both species are LOUD though.
Coturnix do well eating game bird crumble mixed with layer crumble, as they need around 2.5-3% calcium if they're laying, which is about half what chickens need. They also need a higher protein than chickens, especially as babies (28-30 as babies, 21-26% as adults), or you don't get much in the way of eggs. Other than that, fresh water and a clean home and they're good to go.
The hens typically start laying by around 6-10 weeks (the Celadon gene can cause laying delays), the boys will be crowing on a similar timeline, so be sure you are okay with the noise or know what you're going to do with culls. Coturnix can be kept outdoors year round... button quail cannot, they need to be indoors if it's cold out. The biggest problems I've had with the coturnix is a) noise (which I've mostly bred out) and b) water in the winter. My water system only works when water can stay liquid. So, in the winter, the quail switch over to water bottles with 3D printed drinker bottoms, and those get changed 2+ times a day. They look kinda like this:
Tumblr media
and c) aggression in a poorly-bred line. I don't see it much with my Celadon line anymore, but when I first got them, and in the new outcrossed babies, the males would be relentlessly either on the girls or fighting each other, and sometimes a girl would also do this, just start attacking everyone. I culled against it from day 1, and now they're fine, but I had a group of outcross boys that came from my Celadons x fresh blood and the boys were unmanageable immediately. It doesn't matter because I'm not keeping any of them, but I do worry it'll come back on birds I /want/ because the girls may carry that. So that's just something to be aware of, I guess. Ask the breeder about it before you buy.
If you just want "A Bird" and not specifically farm fowl: you want a pigeon or two! They bond to their humans or to each other, they do silly things and have Antics, there is a ton of easily accessible info about their nutrition (and their food is easy to acquire), care, and behavior, and there's always ones looking for homes. Since they were bred as companion and even work animals, not just as food, they socialize easily with humans and they can be kept indoors and unlike quail, their noises are pleasant.
Of course that doesn't dismiss the need to do your research on what it would entail to keep one (or two!), but at least that's easier to do well.

rock doves, commonly known just as the pigeon, are well-known to be devoted to their mates. a study on pair-bonding behaviors after opposite-sex pigeons were removed from the area found that pigeons are willing and able to form successful same-sex pair bonds. female-female pairings were typically more successful, and some females were able to raise nests together after the original male parent had been removed.

There Is No Maternal Instinct In Humans
By definition, an instinct is a behavior that does not have to be learned, shows almost no variation between members of its species, and manifests in a rigid sequence of behaviors performed in response to stimulus. It's also called a fixed action pattern, or FAP. In bears and pigeons, hibernation and homing are instincts. In some species, caring for newborns is instinctive. [...] A rat has a maternal instinct. So, too, does the grayback goose, who immediately pushes any round object near her nest inside to incubate it, no matter if it is a billiard ball placed there by an impish ethologist or an actual egg. Round object (stimulus) produces rolling behavior (response). The less intelligent an animal, the more its survival depends on instinct. In contrast, almost every aspect of primate behavior is mediated by a larger and more developed brain. Evolution has equipped us with a neocortex that requires us to learn in order to survive. With a neocortex, biology remains relevant but is no longer determinant. Natural selection ultimately favored flexibility. Animals that can rapidly adapt to shifting conditions have an advantage over those that can survive only a narrow range of circumstances. [...] The neocortex allows flexibility, but the loss of instinct also comes at a cost. Charles Snowdon, a professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin, has spent his career studying marmosets and tamarins, cooperatively breeding New World monkeys. In most groups of tamarins, the young help to take care of babies, while in a minority of groups, they do not have this opportunity. In a field study of tamarins without prior infant-care experience, Snowdon and his team discovered that babies born to first-time parents never survived. They guessed that naive mothers and fathers didn't know enough either to parent on their own or to accept help from more experienced kin. Later, from comparative data, his team discovered that the survival rate was much better in groups where young siblings helped out with babies. Across primates, infants born to inexperienced parents have higher risk of death. Snowdon explains, "When they don't have experience with infant-care skills, there's a very low breeding success rate. Parenting skills are learned. They're not innate, for males and females equally. Both are clumsy parents. [...] You have to learn to share care of your baby[...]"

I know you shouldn't pet birds really anywhere but the heads due to it sexually frustrating them but what about chicken and other poultry? Is it the same with them?
I cannot stress heavily enough the fact this is really only a concern with parrots and is a major factor to why they are not ethical pets.
Parrot-keepers often make statements to the effect of “if you do this with your bird then X happens” when speaking about parrot specific husbandry notes for whatever reason. Presumably because most people keeping birds that aren’t livestock keep parrots for whatever reason.
Anyway. You can pet domesticated birds such as poultry and pigeons wherever. Yeah they’ll interpret it as sensual sometimes but unlike parrots they’re not monogamous and this does not result in them self-mutilating if you pay them on the back and then pat another bird.
The nature of birds is that if they’re tame and you feed them they’re generally going to sexualize you to varying degrees because in a broad sense a bird getting fed as an adult is a flirtatious behavior and birds trend towards thinking of humans as particularly attractive birds when they’re tame (see: ostriches).
If you own a bird you have to accept that your bird probably thinks you’re a very flirty hot birdie and that it will consider your interactions as sexually charged in general. Whether you’re okay with that is a very important part of the decision to get a bird, especially a male bird.
To say parrots are sexually frustrated is a bit of an oversimplification because the bird becoming aroused is not what causes the issue. The issue is caused by arousing the bird and then interacting with other humans and birds in a manner that the parrot interprets as sensual.
Not to anthropomorphize here, but to simplify this as much as possible: the parrots don’t self mutilate and become aggressive and withdrawn because of the foreplay, they do so because they see you as cheating on them right in front of them. THAT is why it’s so important to bond a parrot to another bird and avoid any behavior that can be perceived as sensual to birds because it’s very very easy to make a mistake that will cause the animal to spiral. This is also why I don’t support parrots being hand reared as this imprinting solidifies the animals seeing humans as true potential mates. The only reason they’re imprinted 90% of the time in the pet trade is because it makes them tame and thus more appealing pets because they’re wild animals and have no natural love for humans.

Victoria Crowned Pigeon
Their name commemorates the crowning of Queen Victoria, however they are native to parts of New Guinea and not england at all. They are a land dwelling pigeon, and are fond of eating fallen fruit. The males will often make aggressive displays towards other males, although they rarely hit one another. Learn More!
Chimney Swift
The chimney swift, as it’s name suggests, roosts largely in chimneys. In fact, they rarely roost in hollow trees anymore, their original natural roost. They are also one of the reasons that we study birds with by behavior. Althea Sherman began to study this bird through observation, unlike many of her fellow ornithologists who would study birds by dissecting them. She even commissioned a large, chimney like structure to be built, with stairs in the middle and peepholes so that she could fully observe these birds. She spent 15 years studying chimney swifts. Pterocles bosporanus Zelenkov, 2023 (new species)
Tumblr media
(Type tibiotarsus [fused shin and ankle bones] of Pterocles bosporanus, from Zelenkov, 2023)
Meaning of name: bosporanus = for the Bosporan Kingdom
Age: Pleistocene (Calabrian), between 1.5–1.8 million years ago
Where found: Taurida Cave, Crimea, Ukraine
How much is known: A partial left tibiotarsus (fused shin and ankle bones). Some coracoids (shoulder bones) from the Pleistocene of Italy may conceivably also belong to this species.
Notes: Pterocles is a genus of sandgrouse, a group of pigeon-like birds from Afro-Eurasia. Sandgrouse live in arid habitats and are known for their behavior in which the males use their absorbent belly feathers to transport water to their chicks. P. bosporanus was larger than most extant species of Pterocles other than the black-bellied sandgrouse (P. orientalis), from which it can be distinguished by the shape of its tibiotarsus.

Oooo now you’re really getting me into Clanmew. What are the names for birds and bird species in Clanmew?
The simple word for "Bird" evolved from Old Tribemew, at the Dawn of the Clans. A "Bird" is any two-winged flying animal with bones.
Bird (and bats) = Hafefyl
The major types of birds that the Clan cats recognize are as follows;
Raptor = Yassga A large, dangerous bird. Any avian perceived to pose a threat is in this category, including swans, ravens, and herons. Not just birds of prey.
Fowl = Eyawoon Large prey birds, the same level of danger as any other large quarry. Ducks, pheasants, gulls, cormorants, a chicken or peacock would also be in this category.
Game = Biyaw These are the birds that are eaten regularly, without much other consideration. It's where most of the 'odd' birds that don't fit other categories go. Pigeons, sparrows, quails.
Fancy = Pyrrya Any bird that would be a shameful thing to kill. That usually means songbirds with pleasing songs, but also colorful ones with pleasing patterns and behaviors, and even bats as they bring sickness when eaten.
Examples of "Yassga";
Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) = Nyieu A species only encountered in the Tribe mountain, before re-contact it was considered a legendary animal. The most dangerous flying species, capable of attacking small deer.
Sparrow Hawk (Accipiter nisus) = Yi'i When hawks are being noted for their speed, it's this species. They primarily hunt other birds, but not cats.
Red Kite (Milvus milvus) = Eeao This is the species that is both large and bold enough to take kittens. The vast majority of the time when hawks are mentioned in a dangerous context, it is a kite. Goshawks are not as numerous in this area as canon implies.
Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) = Ipip Acrobatic, agile bird able to seemingly 'hover' in the air.
Marsh Harrier (Circus aeruginosus) = Yeepi Skilled attentive hunters that tend to hunt small mammals in open areas, especially wetlands. RiverClan and ShadowClan see these a lot.
Merlin (Falco columbarius) = Mweelili A small, generalist hunter that likes low-density areas like moorland, sparse woods, and brush. Known for being friendly with Harriers and eating just about anything.
Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) = Pyip Not actually a dangerous species; but the perception of danger will make Clan cats avoid this creature. Most commonly found by the sea.
Swan (Cygnus olor) = Hchom Large and quiet, these birds are so large they can drown a foolish warrior or break a bone.
Raven (Corvus corax) = Nyok A raven is considered a very dangerous bird not only for its size and ferocious beak, but because of how vengeful an unkindness can be. They remember Clan cats and seemingly mess with them on purpose.
Gray Heron (Ardea cinerea) = Krekek With their habit of spearing, bludgeoning, and even brutally drowning their prey, herons are feared and avoided. There are stories of herons picking off wayward kittens, but it's unknown if it's true or just a tale to stop them from wandering.
Eagle owl (Bubo bubo) = Huo The biggest, largest, most dangerous owl. Cats are a desired prey. No other owl will attack an adult warrior, and eagle owls are most often found in ThunderClan territory where there's thick forest and a nearby rocky cliff.
Tawny owl (Strix aluco) = Hrrua'u A loud, sonorous owl. Known best for being the species roosting in the old Owl Tree.
Barn owl (Tyto alba) = Weear This owl does not hoot, it screeches.
Examples of "Eyawoon";
Duck (Anas platyrhynchos) = Kwek There are several species of ducks they encounter occasionally-- but this one, the mallard duck, is the most common. ThunderClan liked to try and hunt them when they had Sunningrocks, sometimes inflaming tensions between clans.
Ring-necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) = Rauqa Named for the territorial cry of a male pheasant, the most impressive prize that a ThunderClan warrior can catch.
Black-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) = Rewp Not just a seabird; found further in-land and will make do with just about any body of water. This is a species regularly found and hunted at Sanctuary Lake, and also the type that Gullswoop is named for.
Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) = Eeyar The Clan cats haven't been doing salt patrols long enough yet to know that this is absolutely not an Eyawoon, but in fact, a Yassga. Sandwhich-stealing BASTARDS. They're the ones with the gray back, yellow beak, little red mark on the lip, and feral Grinch-looking eyes. If you live by the ocean you know. (There is another species that looks similar but Clan cats think they are the same animal)
Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) = Waer A large, black fishing bird that dives underwater to catch its prey. Revered by RiverClan.
Carrion crow (Corvus corone) = Rawk This is the species being referred to when "crowfood" is mentioned. Rawkwoo.
Magpie (Pica pica) = Ke'ek Glossy, beautiful blue, black, and white bird. Very intelligent and a difficult catch; like crows and ravens they are smart enough to have a concept of social learning.
Egret (Egretta garzetta) = Bwawa Though they have many of the same 'brutal' behaviors as herons, they're too small to cause damage and hence are sorted into 'eyawoon'
There is currently no word for Chicken but Ravenpaw is probably using the term Barley likes best. Except the rooster which he immediately named "Urkaroona."
Examples of "Biyaw";
Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) = Huwoohoo Big, fat, common, a popular meal bird.
Dove (Columba livia) = Hrru Funfact: In TPB, there is a moment where Fireheart scolds Cloudpaw for calling a pigeon a 'dove.' In English, pigeons and doves are synonyms, but in Clanmew, Cloudtail had killed a Huwoohoo, but called it a Hrru.
Sparrow (Passer domesticus and Passer montanus) = Qee Though there's a difference in plumage between these species, Clan cats think they are the same species because their songs are nearly identical. Passer montanus (Eurasian Tree Sparrow) is just considered what a sparrow looks like when it lives deep in the woods.
Quail (Coturnix coturnix) = Wipiwik A round little ground bird that's very fast.
Jackdaw (Coloeus monedula) = Miaw A black-and gray bird with a mewling call.
Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos) = Errari This bird has many songs, which is taken by Clan cats as intentionally trying to hide its true name. They may even be changing their appearances to look like a Mistle Thrush; clearly they're something much more intelligent, since they use stones to smash open snail shells.
Mistle Thrush (Turdus viscivorus) = Charrech Much larger than a Song Thrush. Brave, one of the few birds that sings even in terrible weather, but named for the angry sound it makes when it's guarding berry bushes in winter.
Fieldfare (Turdus pilaris) = Apapach A very important winter prey bird which travels in large flocks. Bullied by Mistle Thrushes for good food sources.
Redwing (Turdus iliacus) = Eean Similar to a fieldfare, but smaller and usually in tinier groups. The call is very different, so these birds are not usually confused by Clan cats unless they're seen first. Apapach are the preferred prey of the two.
Blackbird (Turdus merula) = Oohee Males are blue-black with a yellow ring around the eye, and females are a ruddy dappled brown.
Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius) = Arkr Loud, aggressive medium-sized birds. Pale with blue wings.
Examples of "Pyrrya"
Bat (4 SPECIES) = Fip This refers to the sound of their wings mid-flight. No species of bat is consumed. If eaten they can bring horrible sickness, seen as a punishment for killing an holy night-loving animal with such a beautiful voice and great hunting skill. Clan cats are able to hear bat songs out of range of human hearing!
Pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) = Popep A very small, common bat species that usually eats mosquitoes and midges in wet areas.
Soprano Pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pygmaeus) = Ipi'ip Humans can barely tell the difference between these two, but Clan cats recognize that the song of a Soprano is much faster, higher-pitched, and absolutely sonorous. Considered the night version of a wren and held in high esteem.
Long-eared Brown Bat (Plecotus auritus) = Fepfr A very quiet, low-flying bat with a habit for doing some ground-hunting. This is usually the first bat that an apprentice sees instead of hears, and the one which is used to teach them to not hunt bats. It has a very modest song, which Clan cats explain as mourning for every bat accidentally killed and discarded. Rarely called the "Fip Hhass;" the Whisper Bat.
Noctule (Nyctalus noctula) = Shi'po The largest bat, has huge teeth and a broad face. Females both migrate and hibernate, but males stay awake all year and sing with a very distinctive tune hard to put into a word.
Songbird (SEVERAL SPECIES) = Pigu Note: Most songbirds are down here in this category, but some, like Song Thrushes, are only here conditionally. Usually if there's enough food to go around.
Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes) = Pi'ie The song of this tiny bird is so fast and beautiful that Clan cats have a hard time putting it into words; these birds are not killed except by fiends and rogues.
Robin (Erithacus rubecula) = Birri This is a small, gray-and-brown bird with a bright orange face. They're not very filling, pretty, and sing a delightful song, so like the other species in this category they aren't taken unless there's a serious need.
Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) = Mweep Though large and delicious, these birds are so enjoyed that killing them is dishonorable without approval. They're the only bird that can fly away with its young, it dances and puts on air shows as mating rituals, and they're quite rare.
There are more species than this found in the area but this should be more than enough for now. Here's the most significant "bird" species they experience on a regular basis!

I don't know if this is so much a hen thing, I simply don't know due to lack of experience bonding one on one to a hen, but MAN do bonded cocks get excited about their people talking. I definitely see it in Taro, and it seems like something I see people mention offhandedly.
I definitely desensitized Hemlock to my voice pretty well by nearly constantly singing along to music while petting him. He learned this way that my voice was not a reason to get up and try to impress me with biting. I could be making sound and he'd be getting the exact thing he wanted.
It's currently my plan to do the same with Taro so I can voice chat with my friends without him being unable to settle down. I've only worked on it a little so far, but I think it is making a difference. I'll have to come back to this in the future.

November 24, 2022 - Spice Imperial-Pigeon (Ducula myristicivora) Found in parts of northeastern Indonesia, these large pigeons live in forests and mangroves. Foraging alone, in pairs, or sometimes in small flocks, they feed on fruit, but no other details of their diet are known. Little is known about their breeding behavior, though related species build flimsy twig nests in trees and feed their chicks with crop milk, a substance produced in the crops of males and females.

RAMSEY HILL
— BASICS
Name : Ramsey Hill Age / D.O.B. : Feb. 3, 1984, 40 Gender, Pronouns & Sexuality : Male, He/Him, Pansexual Hometown : New York, New York Affiliation : The Syndicate Job position : Medic / Trauma Surgeon Education: MD from Johns Hopkins; medical license temporarily rescinded 6 years ago. Possible triggers present : Drug use, gore, body horror, manipulation, toxic behavior— and more.
— BIOGRAPHY
Born to a wealthy family, Ramsey Hill grew up surrounded by comforts — and equally bored. His parents, too occupied by their careers in finance and then their separation, paid him little attention as a child. They never thought he needed it. Ramsey was sharp; he did well at school and seemed well behaved. Whatever bullying he endured went largely disregarded.
A defining incident occurred for him at the age of 11. There was something about Ramsey's nature that put the other kids at school off. In their eyes, their bullying felt justified, though they could never put it into words. It all came to a head when they found him with the remains of a pigeon, its innards spilling out onto the grass, before Ramsey's feet.
Ramsey's friend Eva helped him take care of the incident; they buried the animal at her request and almost believed, briefly, that nothing would come of it. Not if there was no evidence. But even when the other kids reported the incident, his parents made sure to cover it all up.
It wasn't that that moment changed anything for Ramsey; on the contrary, it was simply an expression of something deep within him.
His adolescence went largely without any issues. Though there was a storm brewing in Ramsey's mind, he never let it show. He graduated with excellent grades and went on to acquire a medical degree to great success. One thing remained consistent through it all: his work was always more interesting to him than the people around him.
His work as a surgeon kept him busy for some time—- but only for so long. It was becoming increasingly interesting to push the limits of his work — and the limits of the human body. When a pattern of post-surgical complications emerged with his patients, however, concerns over his competence were raised. His medical license was revoked due to medical negligence. It remained unclear if the incidents were intentional or not.
Once again, Eva came to Ramsey's assistance. With the right strings pulled, his license was reinstated. By that point, however, Ramsey had pivoted to greater things. The Syndicate had more to offer than any regular position ever could.
— WANTED CONNECTIONS / PLOTS
Old Acquaintances : a connection from med school / before Ramsey lost his job due to medical negligence ; in other words, your muse knew Ramsey when he lived a more respectable life. He hates reminders of his past.
Survivor : your muse is a survivor of Ramsey's scalpel — a rare fluke. The details of what exactly they've endured are something we can discuss.
Hidden Lines : your muse is someone in the law force / government that Ramsey has a connection to, perhaps as a source of information, perhaps as a means of exerting influence. He may very well be manipulating them for his gain.
Lending a Hand : While Ramsey enjoys the unethical, it isn't all his work is comprised of. In this instance, your muse has come to him for help — perhaps they need an emergency operation, access to some kind of medical care they can't afford through more legal means. They have no choice but to trust him.
Make Your Mark : Ramsey deals in dirty work for The Syndicate, and the very nature of it means he's made a fair number of enemies. People who will never forget his face. Maybe Ramsey has had a hand in your muse's personal suffering. Maybe he's hurt someone close to them. Either way, there's bitterness to be had.
Dealer's Choice : Through his work, Ramsey has access to all manner of drugs. He's made a bit of a side business in dealing, though he's picky about his clients.

Tbh I use to read Eddie Munson X reader fics until I fell into the hellcheer hole so I stopped reading them but I hate it when people make Chrissy a villain in the fics because it's so ooc of her and I've noticed it a lot with reader fics were the male character has a crush, interest or is shipped a lot with a female character because I remember this time I read a fanfic about this male character and they made this female character a bit of a bitch but I just thought she would get character development, I was wrong because the reader's dog attacked and K!lled that female character and even worse y/n was friends with the brother of that female character and when he found out that y/n's dog K!lled his sister y/n was being a big bitch to him telling him to get over it and it wasn't her dog (when she clearly knows it was her dog) and once I read that horrible chapter I never wanted to read a fanfic with that male character ever again
Honestly, I think this kind of dilemma speaks to the fact that society/culture has told the majority of young females (I only citing females because the majority of Y/N stories are geared toward that audience and written by those members) to view other females as competition, especially where there has been a uptick in media that prioritize one depiction of being a woman over another under the guise of "empowerment". I think it also speaks to a few stigma surrounding that one having a "past" before falling in love with their long term partner and one can't possibly love someone so different than they are.
I don't care if someone writes a Eddie x reader or an Eddie x oc stories. I've written or thought of plenty of those stories for different fandoms. But I think it's pretty obvious whenever a person hates Chrissy for whatever reason from their writing. Whether they make her a bitchy popular girl, or cut her completely out of the story and replaces an oc with her own life (along with Jason). I think this habit comes from their own projecting of meeting people like Chrissy in their lives, and the way the media chooses to portray people with her characteristics. They aren't viewing Chrissy as she is supposed to be; but rather an embodiment of everything they've learned to hate. Which is a shame because Chrissy is a great subversion of her own trope with a lot of potential for growth and depth. The Duffers hired Grace because every other actress played Chrissy straight-forward.
I think this is why movies like Clueless and Legally Blonde are such iconic films because the creators wanted to turn the tropes on their head and make the protagonist someone who the majority of viewers were going to hate. Yet, those movies makes you want to root for Cher and Elle because it takes the time to show them as 3-dimensional beings and their films doesn't mock/talk down their interests or fashion choices as immoral or wrong. These movies are also successful at not shaming the other women for having opposing views or interests. But there a lot of more teen movies where a girl that displays a hyper-femininity appearance or mainstream interests are made to be the villains, whether their behavior justify such a label.
I hate the argument that Eddie couldn't love Chrissy because she is everything he dislikes because it's such a narrow view on romantic love based on the superficial. Like yeah, on the surface, they have nothing in common and she is everything he dislikes. But the foundation of romantic love is more than physical. Romantic and lasting love is when the lust dies down, who do you want to be with you? See you at your most vurnuable state? Who do you want to see you cry? Chrissy and Eddie were on the outskirts of that type of love. They opened to each other in the forest, and they never did to anyone else. And pigeon-holding Eddie to only falling in love with an alt girl because he is in subculture is the most social conforming agenda. it's like you being arranged to marry someone solely because they like pop music and you like pop music. no consideration for any other trait.
Also Eddie is allowed to find someone attractive and the attraction is not be something to be help. You can't help attraction, even if you are heterosexual or attract to the opposite sex shockingly. And if Eddie had a type, what's wrong with that? Many people have dated outside of their type and have been very happy with their partner. And like it or not, Eddie realistically would have a type and it would've been based on the beauty standard of the time. Have you seen those video girls in the 1980s?
Finally, it is not a big deal if Eddie had past loves. It would be totally normal for any 20 year old man to have a fling or crush on someone, and it doesn't have to end badly. many people have unrequited crushes in their childhood that just doesn't work out because of mundane reasons, and doesn't mean that other person was a bitch to said person. Just because someone loved a person before you doesn't negate your entire relationship. I absolutely love the hc that Eddie x Tammy Thompson was a thing once and in my own head, the pair had their own thing and connection away from Chrissy (outside of Tammy looking like Chrissy) but they broke up because Eddie was being an asshole and wasn't being honest with his own feelings. Not because he doesn't like her. But because he liked Chrissy more and Tammy knew her worth.
sorry, this is a long ass answer because I have been thinking about this problem for a week now. So I hope that you'll like my answer and I hope that I answered what you want me too.
