Levi is one of those “ I don’t want a pet ,” people . Until you come home all wide eyed and holding what has to be the ugliest cat he’s ever seen .

He claims he hates the thing , calls it a bastard . But some days when you are coming home if you are quiet you can hear him inside talking to it . Having whole conversations with this cat .

No because you’re so right!!! He would treat this cat better than he treats himself! They would have the healthiest food, the best toys, the comfiest lounge spots!!

“What is this?”

“He was tearing up all of our shit so I had to get him a scratching post.”

“This is more than a post, Levi.” You say with bit of a snicker as you gesture to miniature cat castle.

Levi shrugs. “It was the only one they had in stock.”

“I highly doubt that.”

“Look it up yourself then.” He challenges you.

“I bet not every pet store was sold out of a scratching post.” You say, playfully rolling your eyes.

He narrows his eyes at you, crossing his arms. “You’re the one who wanted this dumb cat.”

“Hey, he’s not dumb!” You frown.

A soft meow cuts your conversation short.

“Tch.”

“What is it?”

“He’s hungry and I just fed him.” Levi bends down scoops the kitty up as if he weighs nothing before making his way to the kitchen with the feline friend.

“So you’re going to give him more food?” You ask as you follow behind him.

“He has snacks.” Levi briefly turns his head towards you as he answers.

“Hm. I didn’t get him any snacks.”

“I know.” He carefully places the kitten beside the kitchen cabinet. “I did.”

You try to hide a smirk as you see him open up a bag of treats before placing a few down on the ground. “Alright now, don’t get too greedy.” Levi mumbles as he softly strokes the back of the kitty.

“I think you like him more than I do.” You snicker as you watch him be so careful and tender with the kitten.

“Shush.”

@curiousnonny thanks so much for asking, I love ranting and raving about THG :)

My absolute favorite is and has always been Peeta. I love how Suzanne Collins used her characters to introduce the topic of just war theory to young readers. Or maybe not introduce, but continue a vital discussion. Peeta represents a viewpoint and lifestyle of love that isn't separate from war and tragedy, but a love that blossoms through the struggle and the pain. He fights for love constantly, deliberately, and sometimes violently because that's what is necessary. He fights for a love that isn't just romantic, but a love of humanity, a love of nature, a love of community. He represents hope and perseverence through his whole story, beginning with, not only life under Panem's authority, but also the abuse he faced at his mother's hand. Throughout the story, he remains gentle and I think that's a strength that a lot of people tend to undermine.

I think my favorite moment would be in Catching Fire when he paints Rue for the gamemakers. It's one of the first moments that we get to see him choosing on his own to rebel and to do it in his own way. I think it's a real turning point for him as a character, as well as a turning point in Katniss' view of him.

It's so hard to come up with something that I don't like about him because even his "flaws" are necessary for the plot, so I'm gonna give kind of a cheat answer and say that I think in the movies he lacks depth. We don't get to see a lot of moments that are in the books that shine light on different elements of his personality. He doesn't talk much at all if it's not about Katniss. For instance, I think, a lot of people view Gale as the one who encouraged Katniss to join the rebellion when actually Peeta was the first one to do so. When they're finishing up the victory tour and he and Katniss are talking about the people on the capital drinking the stuff that makes them throw up so they can keep trying the food, he says "maybe we're wrong about trying to subdue things in the districts." So yeah, that isn't a character flaw, it's a fault of the movie makers but that does bother me.

In conclusion, Peeta Mellark isn't just a love interest and I will defend this point until the grave <3

I feel like I need a key or dummies guide to the main themes 😅 I saw the still of Bobby in a blue checked shirt and had to check what that means - foreshadowing and sadness I think? Makes me more impressed with how you keep track of it all!

Thank you for saying lovely things and I'm so glad you enjoy my meta and that you find it insightful!

I've got a pinned post on my blog which has all the meta posts, including ones about check and stripe theories as well as a bit of colour theory etc as well, so if you haven't read them then feel free to check them out!

As for keeping track of everything - I have an epic spreadsheet, which I update after each episode - Im a bit of a nerd about this, but I really love my spreadsheet - its my baby😂 Its actually more like a bunch of spreadsheets - one for each main and then an additional one for all the recurring cast - they're all fully searchable and mean I can log all the items of costume they wear as well as highlight patterns etc. I also have a spread sheet of graphs for each character which keeps track of colour trends across a season or the series as a whole - see total nerd!!!

I might share them with everyone at the end of season 6, if I can get it to upload as its a bit of a beast! and if its something people would be interested in seeing.

I also love to have more time to write about colour theory - maybe I'll find the time to do so during hiatus if my real life doesn't get busy again!!

“Y/N’s looking pretty cute today.” Hange says with a goofy smile as they nudge Levi.

“I’m eating.” Levi says sharply but that doesn’t stop his eyes from briefly looking up from his plate to catch a glimpse of you before he goes back to staring at his food.

“Oh brother, just talk to them!” Hange sucks their teeth, staring at Levi who’s not giving them the time of day. They stare at Levi for a few moments before they start to smile goofily. “Yo, Y/N!”

Levi feels panic seize him by the chest and he almost chokes on the bite he was working on. “Hange.” He croaks out quickly before he reminds himself to keep his composure, calmly swallowing the bite that almost killed him a millisecond ago.

You obliviously make your way over to the commander and the captain, a bit of fear in your throat as you wonder why you’re being summoned.

“Good morning.” You greet them with a soft smile as you stand in front of their table. Hange’s smiling up at you while Captain Levi continues to focus on his food.

“Morning.” Levi mumbles. He doesn’t bother to look up at you. You think it’s because he’s just being grumpy, as usual, but it’s so you don’t see the light blush that’s creeping up on his cheeks. I’m going to kill Hange, he thinks.

“On your way to training?” Hange asks happily.

“Yeah…?” You ask with a nervous chuckle.

“Leave the poor girl alone.” Levi says coolly as he shoots a quick glare to Hange.

Hange continues to smile, clearly unbothered by Levi. “See you then!” They wave you off and you leave confused.

On the training field Levi walks around with Hange. They’re watching all the soldiers, eyeing all their forms. Hange notices when all of the sudden Levi’s eyes narrow. They follow his line of sight and let out a snicker when they see one of the male soldiers trying to help you. This man is way too close for comfort. Hange can tell Levi is trying not to let it bother him. He crosses his arms and clears his throat as they continue to make their rounds.

“Levi.”

“Hm.” Levi acknowledges Hange, glancing over to them for a brief moment before his eyes goes back to you again. Levi quickly realizes his mistake and gives his full attention to Hange.

“Everything alright?”

“Course.” He says with another clearing of his throat.

Hange quickly looks at you still trying to master the move, the other soldier nowhere in sight. They lean over to Levi, whispering into his ear. “Go help her.”

“Tch.” Levi yanks his head away from Hange, rolling his eyes as he gently pushes them away.

But Levi does just that.

He makes his way over to you.

He approaches you slowly, taking a breath before speaking. “Having trouble there, soldier?”

“Oh.” You look back at him with a sheepish smile. “Kind of.”

“Here, I’ll-uh…” He’s careful to not touch too low on your waist as he adjusts your stance. He can’t help but think how soft you are, how perfectly your body fits into his hands.

He does take notice of the small sharp breath you take when his hands gently grip you. “Thank you, captain.” You say quietly, letting him position you the way he wants you to.

“Mhm.” He says, not trusting himself to say anything right now. Not when you’ve given him the privilege to touch you.

It’s a brief interaction but it’s enough to leave Levi in a daze. He walks back to Hange who is giving him the biggest thumbs up.

“Stop it.”

Secretly, Levi’s proud of himself. He’s touched you. Now he just has to talk to you.

i love any of the plant derived names, but i think rue's name is my favorite. she's named after common rue, also known as "herb of grace." whether it was intentional or not, i love that rue was used in combination with oleander as an antidote to venomous snake bites, snow being the snake as he is regularly compared to throughout the series.
