Please please please write The Squad crashing Sept Tours on Baldwin's behalf to have Words with the family about how he's been treated, especially the near-decapitation. Baldwin meekly tries to verbally hold them back but they just pat him and go "Hush now dear, let us handle this"

Lmao, I love this! I decided to do lunch with Lady Danbury because I love her. Sorry, this took a while!

Book Club Saturdays were for Baldwin and his family had to leave him alone. Well, he called it 'Book Club'. Matthew had always assumed it was either a government meeting or a sex thing.

"Is that Lady Danbury?" Phoebe asked shocked.

"Who?" Diana asked.

"Agatha Danbury. She was a brilliant lawyer and married Lord Danbury. I met her a few years ago," Phoebe gushed, "Brilliant, terrifying woman."

"She once told Prince Philip to shut up. On his own birthday." Marcus recalled.

"... Philippe would not put up with all you have," Lady Danbury comments and it's clear what she means.

She looked over at his family, "I did not realise the rest of your family was here."

"Neither did I," Baldwin replied. He had expected only Matthew.

"Good afternoon. I did not realise you would all be here." Baldwin greeted, "Lady Danbury, this is my sister Dr Diana Bishop. You know my brother and nephew and Phoebe Taylor, Marcus' fiancee."

"I may be old but I do recognise Phoebe Taylor. Congratulations on your engagement, dear." She smiled, and looked at Marcus, "Now this man can stop ruining the other young ladies of high society." She poked him with her stick for good measure.

"Is it ruin if it is consensual?" Marcus joked, sharing a knowing smirk with the older woman.

"Please do keep him on a tight leash, my dear." Lady Danbury said.

"I do," Phoebe smirked and Marcus smiled knowingly. His hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer to him.

"I have cuffs if you want to keep me attached to-"

"Please," Baldwin interrupted them, annoyed "Sex, elsewhere. We have discussed this."

"Dr Clairmont," Lady Danbury looks at him with a shrewd look, "I am glad to hear you are better."

"Thank you, Lady Danbury." Matthew replied.

"I do hope your injuries cause you se6e things clearer."

"My brother is walking well again," Baldwin said.

"Your brother sacrifices a lot for you." She mused, "A lot. Try not to do anything else that may lead to him facing an axe and bonfire."

Matthew just stared back at her, "I did not-"

"I am still speaking. You are a father now. I do hope you realize that requires responsibility and patience." She continued.

"I have been a father before."

"Yes. Do raise these children this time, lest they decide to cause chaos out of resentment for an absent father. My godson is the same." Lady Danbury warned, "Baldwin. Until next month?"

Baldwin kissed her hand with respect before she went into her waiting town car.

"She's..." Diana tried to find the words.

"Terrifying?" Phoebe supplied.

"Yep, that is accurate," Diana said and looked at her husband, who was thoroughly annoyed. Baldwin returned to the group, rolling his eyes at his brother's glare.

"Do not look at me. Miyako called her."

Matthew  was  born  in  France  in  500 AD,  in  his  mortal  life - like his father - Matthew became a carpenter. He later transferred his skills into becoming a stonemason and remained a devout Roman Catholic. He met and fell in love with a woman named Blanca, they married when he was twenty five and after struggling for many years had a son together named Lucas. Most have no idea of how Matthew’s rebirth came to be, mostly due to his connection to the church and the direct conflict it has with its values but in 536 AD a fever came to the village where his family called home. Matthew’s wife and son did not survive the wave and though he was devastated, he continued his work building a local church in memory of his lost son. Eventually, on his son's birthday the grief became too much to bear, and in a moment of weakness, he jumped off the scaffold of the church. 

While awaiting his impending death, Ysabeau de Clermont, the young wife of Philippe de Clermont, offered Matthew an alternative ending to his presumed afterlife in hell. He accepted this and became a vampire, adopting the name De Clermont, aligning with his new parents. His devotion to them and the new life they provided led him to quickly become a strong and wrathful hunter. He learned to control his hunger from his step father. 

Within the 1500’s Matthew spent a time as Matthew Roydon and in the 1600’s spent some time hunting witches ( something he definitely isn’t proud of ). 

As the year 2000 hits Matthew with his acquired knowledge and a desire to understand more, throws himself into science wanting to understand how not only the vampire species works but how others do, though it offers its own challenges and given his issues with losing control if he does not feed for a time…he keeps himself to himself. 

Matthew travels to Los Angeles, hearing of a hot spot and though against his family's wishes…it proves to be a smart option ( or so he’s hoping ).

“I went out for the New York Times this morning,” he said.

“Always prepared, aren’t you?” I reached down and touched him. Matthew swore. In French. “You’re just like Verin. Such a Boy Scout.”

“Not always,” he said, closing his eyes. “Not now, certainly.”

“Awfully sure of yourself, too.” My mouth slid along his in a teasing kiss. “The New York Times. What if I were tired? Cranky? Or hormonal? The Albany paper would have been more than enough to keep them busy then.”

Matthew Scene by Scene in season 3

Episode 7 ‘Scene’ 12 - Matthew takes his jacket off.  [Oh - and there is dancing.  Oh yes - and the trilogy ends]

If you haven’t read these before don’t expect any other character arcs - forget it.  Matthew all the way here. AND this is distinctly ‘shallow end’ stuff that is not to be taken too seriously.

SPOILERS if you haven’t seen episode 7!  Book spoilers all the way through this as well. 

Is Diana is writing in The Book of Life?  That’s book defacement!!!!   Shame on you, historian, Dr Bishop!  Although I suppose the book kind of defaced itself when it decided to upload to Diana?   [BTW -  I’m disappointed that no one said “Nice tats” to Diana - coz they did in the book.]   

We see the new Bishop - Clairmont emblem (the ouroboros and the firedrake forming an unbroken circle) on the left.  We know from the book that Jack drew this as a present for his parents.   Anyway - there’s a party going on next door.  In the the book there was a big party for Matthew’s birthday so I guess this is it?  

As Matthew turns towards the music he sees Diana advancing with ‘intent’... 

She wants a dance so obviously the JACKET HAS TO COME OFF. 

OH YES.    

Those swimmers shoulders are straining that shirt - but for once the ADOW costume department have given MG a slightly bigger size.  Booooo!

I love the way these two circle round each other.

Matthew kisses Diana’s hand ... coz he’s an old fashioned vamp at heart....

He’s going in....

The smooth devil grabs Diana and lowers her into a dip.

I squealed when I spotted Em and Philippe watching as Matthew and Diana strut their stuff.   In the book, Diana had a whole conversation with the ghost of Philippe but I guess that would be a tad too fantastical in a show about vampires, witches, daemons....  😬

And of course you would give the babies to the most unlikely people in the room to hold them.  Miriam and Baldwin!!!  

And we end with a hot kiss.  

We got a happy ending at last.  Matthew has a wife and family again and everyone is safe.  And we’re done.
