alone: How does your OC deal with loneliness? Have they ever been completely alone before? How do they act when there's no one around to see them?

Alasdair has a complicated relationship with being alone. He definitely prefers to be around people who know him and love him not just for being the Double Wise Prince, but those aren't always super common. If he lived a normal life, I don't think he'd enjoy being alone at all. But as it is, he's almost never alone and he's often very lonely. On the occasion that he is alone or alone with Nico, he's a bit freer with his emotions, which can be relaxing because he's often trying to keep anything unpleasant at bay given his Wisdom.

fear: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?

His biggest fears are tied to being king. Becoming king and the rest of the kingdom realizing that he's not this amazing savior king that they expect him to be. Becoming king and ending up as ineffective as his father or the past generations of kings. Becoming king and being so trapped within the confines of it that he never actually changes anything.

desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?

For Celin, it's to keep all of her loved ones safe forever. The desire you're introduced to first with her is that she wants to be a knight, but it comes down to that core desire to protect, to keep her loved ones safe. And her Wisdom is manifested proof that she would do that at the expense of herself, even at the ruin of herself. She would waver a bit if the price to pay wasn't herself, because she wants to protect others, too; but her highest priority is def her family and found family.

pain: What's the worst pain your OC has ever felt? Do they have a high pain tolerance?

She HAS to have a high pain tolerance right? I think the worst physical pain she's ever experienced was probably the one at the end of the fight to stop the ritual (being super vague bc spoilers). And that was right on the tails of maybe the worst emotional pain at the time so hey!

nightmare: What does your OC have nightmares about? How do they deal with their nightmares? Do they tell people, or keep it to themself?

Nico has a couple different kinds of nightmares: the first are nightmares based on visions he's had of things that haven't...gone well. The vision he told Celin about in the cave behind the waterfall is probably the biggest example of that. The second example is nightmares about going back to Dren Rua and being hated, nightmares of his mother pretty much disowning him.

And yeah he obviously keeps it to himself because it's Nico.

wound: How does your OC handle being wounded? Are their wounds mostly physical? Mental? Emotional? What's the worst wound your OC has ever experienced?

Nico's actually pretty used to being wounded. He's been in...a lot of fights, as a Dren Ruan and as the prince's guard. He knows how to bandage himself up and would like it if his two loved ones would just let him. Mental and emotional wounds he definitely keeps on the inside. Lets them fuel him. It's totally healthy I promise.

And his worst wound is probably the same as Celin's worst pain! (As far as he remembers right now.)

break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?

Losing Alasdair. Probably losing Celin now, too. He can keep pushing through with most other things, but if that happened he would probably just...go on a rampage. It would be rough.

15. HEART - What is the last book you cried over?

whew i went to check my goodreads to see if it would jog my memory but nope... i can't remember the last book to make me cry at all. i think i got misty-eyed reading lord of silver ashes but honestly i'm not sure. it takes a LOT for a book to make me cry (in contrast with movies or games, since i cry super easily for them lol).

i remember crying a bit in the last farseer book but goodreads says i read it in 2020, so that probably wasn't my last one. hmmmm

Okay so the two OCs I want to talk about currently don't have any names but they do have monikers so I'll be referring to them as such!

Blorbos: The Unrivaled Angel and The God of the Void

Who do they trust most in the world?

TUA: Maybe shocking because of the name but the one who goes by the moniker The Forgotten Devil. There's also "The Light" but that's a whole 'nother thing.

GotV: Their sibling, The God of Darkness (or God of the Dark)

What matters more to them: success or happiness?

TUA: Success!

GotV: Happiness but more so for the ones they care about than themselves (':

What is their greatest fear?

TUA: I think probably their high position and having their reputation stained

GotV: Losing TGoD, as well as those they've come to care about

What are their pet peeves?

TUA: Honestly, there are so many. You could breathe in TUA and it would probably annoy the living hell (haha) out of them

GotV: Actually, they are a pretty tolerable person so it's hard to annoy them but if I had to choose, honestly anyone who is a Dick(TM) on purpose, especially after you've told them not to do said things that make them a Dick(TM)

Are they a morning person?  What’s the first thing they do in the morning?

Since both The Unrivaled Angel and The God of the Void are gods/god-like people, sleep isn't really a necessity. However, I'll answer this in how I think they would be if they did sleep regularly like a human (:

TUA: Absolutely a morning person in the WORST way possible. They're an early bird and they make sure you know they are. Absolutely the first thing they do is just like basic hygiene stuff, make breakfast for themselves, and drink tea as they read the morning paper.

GotV: Well with them being tied to the literal void, I would assume along the lines of them being more of a night owl. However, I would think they wouldn't absolutely hate mornings, they'd just take their sweet time getting ready for the day.

Do you prefer to type your notes/plans or handwrite them? Where do you do this?

I prefer to type my notes and plans rather than try to do a horrible job of printing out my brain's rambles in physical notebooks, and I type them all in Google Docs!

As an addendum to the first question, I do not have any physical notebooks set aside for writing. That being said though, I like to keep my worldbuilding notes on a website called Notion!

Do you listen to music while writing? If so, what kind?

I don't usually listen to music while writing, but in my most recent WIP titled "Silver Moon Sonatas" whose premise features vampires that form a symphonic metal band of the same name, I definitely feel like I'm going to be checking out and listening to a LOT of symphonic metal during this WIP's writing process LOL

As you already may know does Cal suffers from imposter syndrome and feels like he does not deserve anything. he thinks that everyone will see that he is a 'failure' and leave or abandon him. also, several make fun of him for his high iq and how he gets excited when ranting about something he loves. Well, he became more silent because of it and smiled through the pain now. Anyway one of his fatal flaws is that he loves too deeply and hurts too deeply. if someone he loves lied to him, used him or betrayed hik he will be shattered.

Happy Blursday to you too, Morri! I'll answer for James from MBP, because I haven't done much with that WIP lately and I miss it.

James' greatest desire is to escape, whether it's escaping the dusty halls of Edgewater academy, escaping the time loop he's trapped in, or escaping his bad reputation. But every time he thinks he's done it, he still finds some other way in which he's trapped. He longs for independence and freedom as any teenage boy does, but he's just in a slightly harder to escape situation than most.

❌ what would your wip get cancelled on twitter for?

i'm not on twitter a lot, but i think it would get canceled for portraying an arranged marriage in a neutral-positive light instead of erin bucking the system. most arranged marriages in fiction are portrayed as a patriarchal torture device which,, isn't always true. i could go on about this but yeah - long live the queen has erin and theo in an arranged marriage, he loves her romantically but she only loves him as a best friend, and they're both fine with it

probably "i'm fine". he's never fine.

How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?

VERY strictly. as far as rowan is concerned, moira is his only friend ever. everyone else is either family (ada, his sister) or an acquaintance (all other villagers)

Do they act on their immediate emotions, or do they wait for the facts before acting?

rowan waits for all the facts and more lol he's a bit impulsive when it comes to like, doing stuff on his own (like going to the forest in the middle of the night on a ~feeling~) but when it concerns (or is viewed by) other people, he's like the most cautious person ever. he is VERY aware of how he is seen by others and it drives him mad to be seen as wrong/bad/etc. he hates being perceived, so to speak.

Who would / do they believe without question?

Happy Friday the 13th! If your OCs were in a piece of horror media (video game/book/movie), what roles would they play? Who would die first? Who would make it to the end? What kind of horror media would they be in? (slasher film, psychological horror, zombie apocalypse, etc.)

Happy Saturday the 14th!! Sorry for answering this one late; was a bit busy yesterday :P Thank you for sending @memento-morri-writes !

I think I answered something similar before where I put the vampires in a slasher, and the WIP itself has elements of both gothic and cosmic horror, so I'll try for something different with a genre I really like but haven't really found a place for in my WIP. I like folk horror a lot, so let's put them in Midsommar or something sort of similar!

Um. Barring the fact that all of them except Ren (so far) would immediately die in Midsommar because it's literally the midnight sun, it'd be really interesting to put them in that sort of situation! Like maybe there's a sort of cult that makes its way to the Everdark (different from the one in the actual story). Maybe it has to do with the fae in some way--there's definitely a subtle fae presence in the books. Maybe they have silver, or rowan, or some sort of augmented fae power that makes it a bit harder for our vampires to fight off.

At first they really don't take it that seriously. They're vampires, after all, immortal stewards of the forest. Maybe they let it fester for a century or so. Until one of them turns up dead. A false immortal, sacrificed for the true immortals.

Maybe Aramour's the dead one (sorry buddy ily!!). Maybe, as an elven descendant of the fae, they see him as a traitor, choosing false immortality instead of serving the fae spirits.

Belladonna would immediately want to go scorched earth on this hypothetical cult. How dare they take one of her own!

Eirik's no stranger to ritual sacrifice--he survived one a long time ago, right when he was turned. He gets flashbacks to those times, and notes the cult's bastardized version of Staski practices, because bastardized Norse (or Norse-coded, in this case) practices seem to very much be a thing lately! I could see him surviving, but also, there would be Something about him not surviving his second sacrifice.

Good lord, Ren's vulnerable. Ren's EXTREMELY vulnerable. He's desperate for love and belonging and if someone promises it to him, then he's going to go for it. Same with Erevan, TBH. I could see them both surviving to the end, but they need to stick together and look out for each other. Maybe in this universe, that's how they meet, and realize they don't want any part of what this cult is doing.

Happy Friday the 13th, Morri, thanks for stopping by! I'll do my best to answer this as someone who is NOT a horror fan, lol ;)

I think of my Invisible Girl OCs, Lewis would die first, and then Fynn, both of them tragically realizing their purpose in life right before it's taken from them. Then Paris, who just like. is in the wrong place at the wrong time--it's so bad it's awful. Finally, Velia, which is sad cause we all thought she'd make it, and she was so badass and she'll never see the light of day again. Which makes Antonio the final girl, a plot twist cause he's so pathetic, but in incredible turns of fate, he lives. I guess this is a psychological horror? I don't know 🤦‍♂️😫😂

Hi! I just found your blog after seeing Andi reblog your taglist post. I'm super excited about Wrong Witch!!! I love warlocks, and the idea of trading immortality for power is amazing. Also, Gabriel and Morgan are lovely names!! I used to ride a horse named Gabriel, and I also have an OC named Gabriel. And Morgan is just a pretty name. Also, I love that it's set in Michigan!! I have lived there my whole life.

And the premise sounds amazing??? I'm already super invested.

I'm so glad you like Wrong Witch. I'm super excited to be writing this story. It actually came from a dream that I had, of a person in the woods, waking up covered in blood.

I live in Michigan, too! I love being able to set a story there.

Also — I have another WIP I'm going to announce soon, set about 150 years before Wrong Witch, but in the same universe, that takes place in Detroit. I can't wait to share!
