once again on my ace was insane in the head when he was a child freak show because i wanted to kinda return to the topic a little bit and talk about it in pieces because it's a long ass analysis of what the hell was ace cooking in his head so here goes.
like i wanted to talk about ace's intrusive thoughts when he was a kid. all of them are pretty much related to the lack of trust ace had, and in contrast to the trust he exhibits as an adult. rouge had to give ace up because she was on death's bed and if he stayed with her someone would find him eventually, so it was better to entrust him to garp and place him somewhere, where no one would ever find ace.
even if the gesture was to protect her son, ace didn't understand why he had to go. he felt abandoned because he could've stayed but he felt like his mom doesn't want him anymore. as he grew up, the same thing happened with roger. his father never wanted him, that's what ace believed. dadan was always saying how much of a pest ace was because she was a tough foster mother and wanted him to behave. everyone around his environment wanted him to go, except sabo.
and then, luffy. personally i feel like ace was so overwhelmed with the thought of luffy actually not doing what everyone else did ( leave him behind ) that he couldn't possibly wrap his mind around the thought that it may be different. after they created their brother oath and lost sabo, luffy was the only one in ace's life now and he still argued. he still felt that luffy will turn his back on him, deep down in himself. because everyone willingly or not leave him at the end.
ace was living through very impactful psychosis episodes because of being so obsessed about the thought that luffy will betray him in some kind of way, pull on his trust that whenever ace was leaving the reality he used to hold something sharp in his hand, looking at luffy in his sleep and debating on killing him. because luffy was so defenceless and he trusted ace so much to sleep around him that ace had thousand thoughts of doing it going through his head. thoughts like : " what if i hurt him now will he also call me a monster." " he's sleeping i can end him." " luffy will forgive me if i hurt him right." "he will finally show his true face if i stab him what if i do it now, now, now, now."
only to never act on it. ace never actively attempted to harm luffy in his sleep and each and every time he thought about it, when the episode was over he always regret this so much. he always thought he's such a shit brother for thinking that. ace almost got luffy killed when they had an argue because he was so mad at luffy he wanted him to suffer for his words only to understand that he did bad when luffy really got injured badly and regret it. point is, luffy was always so honest with ace he always told him that he wants ace to live, he wants ace to be his friend to be his brother and ace was never in a place to get honesty that isn't a stab in the back that he couldn't believe it. he was exposed to unfiltered honesty before and when luffy was the golden honesty, ace was met with an opposite side of it free of lies and violence that he couldn't come to terms with it until the grey terminal incident. until he fully understood that luffy wants him alive, and ace finally settled down on the thought that he will protect luffy because he's the only person in ace's life left that was honest with him.

i had some thoughts about this kinda idea before but it came to me again last night — i often think about how hard life gets for yuna after she becomes high summoner. living in spira as a popular religious figure just intensifies the process of trying to live your days with trauma you cannot ever fully process + forming bonds that are meaningful / do not feel false because even in x-2 new yevon ( or the youth league ) tried to take advantage of that, for example ( seeking her as approval to gain spira's general appreciation, trying an arranged marriage between the high summoner + the praetor and whatnot ). everyone would want the approval of the high summoner, and thus it becomes basically impossible for yuna to do things that go under the radar. i think people in spira need a long time to learn what it is like to live life without sin, and so falling into the old habits is very effective, especially when they've been perpetuated for decades. i have this idea that they would easily try to see meaning behind anything yuna were to do, because of her influential status as a) braska's daughter, b) a high summoner, c) the only living high summoner, and the list could go on with other features such as two times saviour, seymour's widow possibly having some influence on it as well for the most old yevonites / guados? all of that has meaning in front of the eyes of the believers — i mean, all of spira, really.
my thought is that yuna is not naive the way she was, and now knows the way of her world, and especially knows that everyone is selfish in their own pursuits to some degree. so i've mentioned before how over time she tends to close in itself and as a result not speak much anymore / freely as she once did, part of the reason i would say is because she knows she needs to weight her words now; she would freely express herself in her entirety before, when she knew her life had a deadline and that her words would be used perhaps to do good once she was gone, but now that she's the first of a long series of sacrificial high summoners she does not know who to look back to for an example to follow, and she is setting in stone the end of all summoners who were seen as so high, and she the highest of them all.
i think another expression of that is also her inability to form meaningful new bonds. she's hyper aware of her surroundings and she does not trust anything she's being told / people she meets anymore. she's very attached to the past, but that too brings about too much unresolved trauma that ends up making her more stoic as time passes. she decides to take after her father and what people told her he was like — ultimately, at heart she will always be the same yuna, but time has consumed all her energy, and distanced herself from the one that would blindly see the good in the world. there is evil in the shadows and she knows she must put an end to all of it, which is also the reason why her body and mind seem to give in as years go by: her biggest fault is taking everything as her own responsibility. high summoners were always seen as saviors, as problem solvers, the shields of spira even literally, and now her internalized issue is that she thinks everything that may cause distress is hers to fix and solve. it's the main streamlined idea as to why i think she suffers the farpane's instability, even though realistically she cannot do anything about it. she knows that only the guado have the tools to maintain it, and yet she feels this need to take it upon herself to "fix" it.
she has shown savior complex a lot of times before, even in canon ( i think x-2 is the prime example. it's presented as a plotline with yuna being "selfish" and trying to live her life in spite of her past, but if you have played through it you know that in the end it's just her going place to place to fix things, taking things upon herself she does not need to — i mean, vegnagun itself was not something that she should have tasked herself with, even knowing that the crimson squad / new yevon / the youth league was on it way before her she still pursues it, and many more examples in the entirety of the plot honestly ) and i have reason to believe it is so internalized that it seems almost impossible to put a bandaid to it, which is why she takes onto the life long task of studying all of via infinito ( + all the hidden things beneath bevelle and possibly beneath zanarkand ruins tbh, there's no way the same isn't there ) when, truly, her role as spira's savior should have ended long ago.

had a thought. is wriothesley really a 'wolf' or more a dog? he's not a wolf in the figurative sense. because wolves hunt. leave one alive and the sheep are never safe ...
but wrio doesn't hunt criminals down. he very much embodies his constellation as cerberus. he guards an underground world and tries to keep the autonomy of the fortress ( you could also argue he guards/protects every soul down there. they are all under his protection and some choose to stay because of his leadership )
it's giving more herd dog vibes. because these dogs are trained to protect a great number of livestock and it's never one dog. it's a few, a pack almost, and Wriothesley has guards who wear the triple headed dog symbol. i don't want to say the underworlders are livestock because I don't think Wriothesley sees them that way. they are people.
but considering Wriothesley and his siblings were raised to be livestock. and that herd dogs are trained to kill predators that try to hunt the herd. Wriothesley doing what he did to protect his siblings. the crime he committed. really does give more herd dog vibes.
also i don't mean like border collies. i can't remember the breed but there is a big breed of herd dog that is known to sleep with the sheeps/livestock (because predators come out at night) and these dogs are just so good at their job.

little update for rin and her life:
Tumblr media
rin can now speak to non-humans. if she uses her powers on a human, it puts them in a trance, even if they're just overhearing her. it's very powerful! but non-humans remain unaffected.
and now her 'brother':
Tumblr media
kermit also has powers of attraction, but they're much more subdued. he's likely to just be regarded as 'striking' or noticed quickly in a crowd. he does not blend in. he and rin live comfortably together because they cancel each other's powers out in a way.
also my selkie lore is a mishmash of a ton of different stories, much like my siren lore! starter call for them coming soon!

how is george’s relationship to the twins individually and together? does he ever feel left out or babied by his family? who does he drift to and take to more out of all his siblings?
i think, in writing this, i realize because they don't really have the words to articulate their growing up, i'm not sure i do. i don't know what words they'd put it in. so take all of this with a grain of salt i guess. but it's my canon so? anyways just stating that going forward for all these messy meta posts
brief mentions of neglect below. ask me to tag further please!
george takes pride in being the youngest of the family. partially because he was too young to really register when the bad stuff started - or really that there was a big shift. he hardly remembers their dad. there isn't really like a before and after moment for him, there just is. normal is henry looking after them. normal is only spending time with their mother when she's taking them to church or berating them.
i don't think he was necessarily babied, though. left out, definitely. flynn's sensitivity positioned him very early on as the 'baby' - it wasn't until he left and came back that ange and henry really doubled down on that, though. they work very hard not to upset him and keep him afloat, whereas george does this some but still thinks to himself like 'hey, that's a grown man, he can take care of himself'. there's a bitterness that stews at seeing all of his sibling's attentions funneled into one person. it doesn't help that he and flynn have the same taste in women, and they typically tend to choose flynn over him.
that being said he does love flynn - it's just that he feels like he can see right through him.
he and angela are extremely close. i kind of think angela and george are actually closer than flynn and angela, but this is due to flynn's time away from the family. they have a very playful relationship, which isn't a side of angela that's often tapped into. he really takes her seriously as an artist and trusts her vision - i think trust is huge for them. even when george fucks up or angela withdraws, they know they can count on each other to be there.
he does feel just a little left out when they're all together, but he and angela have built their own kind of twin language together in flynn's absence. it's flynn that he isn't so in tune with. angela can become a conduit, a translator between them.
i however think he's the closest with henry. them being on the other sides of the twins offers them a different perspective. henry really is like his father. so there's also definitely some stuff george feels like he can't tell henry about because he still feels like a little kid that'll get in trouble, but he thinks henry understands him the most - but he mostly seeks to be understood by those outside of his family.

" POWER GIRL " , STRENGTH & POWER: among the prime earth kryptonians , power girl possesses perhaps the most raw strength , only truly comparable to superman. power girl is power incarnate , honed and perfected , strength more pronounced than supergirl or even clark at times: unlike either , her style of fighting is more physical , more direct. biologically , her dual - alien nature makes feats of physical strength somewhat easier. as an earth - two kryptonian , she not only absorbs the radiation of the earth's yellow sun , but she also produces her own bio - organic energy , and her cells have adapted to both take in and store a greater amount of energy as a reserve at any given time. similarly , as an exile from another dimension , she is immune to a majority of prime earth's kryptonite , as their predominant variant radiates an energy that does not directly affect her foreign cellular structure. as expected , power girl's strength requires an incredible amount of restraint. without even the bare minimum , she would rip through doors , vaporize human bodies , push holes through buildings or send smaller objects flying at high speed without even thinking about it. the full extent of her brute strength is unclear , though. not only is she physically powerful , she revels in her strength as an identifier of herself: she is physically imposing , nearly seven feet tall and three hundred pounds , and uses it to her advantage , longing for the opportunity to cut loose against someone or something that can take it. karen is an orphan of both her homeworld and her home dimension: while many things between prime earth and earth - two are similar , they are not entirely the same. she is , in essence , more of an alien performing humanity than clark or kara are: they all grew up around normal people , but karen was shuttled off to a world with new customs , a world full of people she recognized but who acted differently , grew up differently , and didn't recognize her at all.
" power girl " is both an act of self - invention and an ideal description. it's part of what anchors her to her new home , both as a hero and as a being wholly separate from supergirl. it has come to the point where she does not consider herself and kara as a multiversal copy , but more that they are two different people with different backgrounds.

My Konrad being a pathetic douchebag is kind of the whole point btw. He's the man who digs his own grave and drives away all of his potential friends because he's an idiot terrified of being vulnerable. And then he refuses to admit it or take responsibility for any of his actions. Konrad's a manchild who never grew out of pulling the legs off flies. He's the lost son the Emperor couldn't be bothered to reach out to till it's far to late.
What Konrad needs isn't sex or Chaos or something to repress his powers ( all of which would only make his issues far worse ). Konrad needs a fucking support system. He needs to be taken away from the Crusade. He needs stability. Friends, therapy and an actual parental figure would all do wonders for his mental health.
Like... My Konrad's what happens when you let your inner demons consume your life. When you begin to define your entire identity by the pain you endured and the pain you inflict on others. He's all of humanity's flaws and virtues ramped up to 11 as a walking cautionary tale: a reminder that you can go there if you spend your entire life staring into an abyss. DON'T GO THERE.
I like my complex fucked up villains. And I'm not toning him down to make interactions easier bc that completely misses the point of him. Anybody who wants a friendlier Konrad can write their own. I actually started RPing him out of spite because I got annoyed by somebody else's interpretation of him.

Far worse, in my opinion, than the famous “he wouldn’t fucking say that” is “he WOULD fucking say that, as part of his facade, but you seem to think he would mean it genuinely”

Shipping is fun and all but I swear every single time someone makes a comment, whether as a joke or in a legitimate analysis, about there being "no other explanation" for a pair's interactions, I lose just a bit more of my sanity
Like, no, you guys don't get it. Romance is not about the Amount of devotion, it's about the COLOR. the FLAVOR of it all. a character can be just as devoted to their platonic friend as they are to their romantic partner, and they don't love either of them more, just differently.
But because the majority of people still have it stuck in their minds that romance exists on the highest tier of love, I'm stuck seeing endless takes that boil down to "these two care about each other too much for it to NOT be romantic" as if that's the core determining factor to how literally any of this works
In conclusion: stop telling me that I don't understand the story if I don't interpret the leads as romantic, I am TIRED

while i did a gifset to showcase an armour set, i was also intrigued by just how different the animation is for the wizard class vs gale's unique animation:
wizard class animation
Tumblr media
gale's unique animation
Tumblr media
it's amazing to see not only just how quickly gale performs the somatic component of the spell, but also his efficiency of movement compared to the standard wizard animation.
there's a world of difference here, the difference between a wizard vs a prodigy, an archwizard and chosen.

@rorystune asked: Is your character the subject of ‘imagines’ or ‘x reader’ style blogs? (for ur performer muses)
i cannot stress how much the members of artemis are. they’re a huge sensation and i feel like, if i know anything about bandom, their fans are crazy bonkers insane. some teenager is running georgenicholsimagines . tumblr . com like the fucking navy. ange gets the most as the front woman, but they’re all subject to many a wattpad fic. because ange and elliott are private with their relationship i feel like there’s a lot of ange/mena/reader fics out there.
kitsey not so much? i just can’t picture people thirsting over her through that medium. she has plenty of fan accounts though. and luke… lord almighty. yes he has them but they’re all ridiculous. half of them are memes. reminds me of when i stumbled upon a j.oe m.azzello one in college … (no shade) it’s just like how do you take thirsting after this silly guy so seriously. the luke bradley fans have been through the trenches and i salute them
OH and tuesday is so the type to have them. she’s very popular on the internet, despite (and because of?) how messy she is

anytime patrick finds himself in a conundrum, or in a situation where he needs to get what he wants, he will follow the same line of questioning
do you like tennis? if so, do you like me? if not, do you like sex?
and it works about 70% of the time
(as evidenced in the movie, sometimes he just has to look at you pathetically enough and that will work, too. he acquires a yummy breakfast sandwich this way.)

Hua Cheng essentially cockblocking himself for possibly all of eternity will literally never not be the funniest thing MXTX ever wrote.
Xie Lian was pretty much completely in love with him the second he saw those lanterns (and completely oblivious about it) and then we get the wonderful first kiss underwater moment and Xie Lian is basically drawing hearts around Hua Cheng every time he sees him. While like quietly dying cause he literally has no idea what to do with it. Like at this point he doesn’t even really understand that he is head over heels totally gone for this man.
Until Hua Cheng is like I have a beloved I just haven’t won them over yet. Which he thinks is perfectly reasonable because his self esteem is the worst and he doesn’t understand how he could have won Xie Lian over yet. (He’s only on step 22 of his Marrying Dianxia 3000 step Master Plan ((that he debates throwing out on a regular basis because he doesn’t deserve to even dream about wanting Xie Lian)). So course he’s like yeah I have this wonderful noble beautiful beloved I just haven’t won them over yet wink wink nudge nudge.
But Xie Lian is like oh of course obviously I don’t deserve nice things and fuck I actually wanted him so badly I’m actually in love with him and now I will resign myself to never being happy for his sake. (Their combined self esteem is truly a so low it’s a hole in the ground which is hilarious because they think the other person is to good for them and unattainable forever because they literally have the same neurosis.) So he starts boxing up his feelings forever constantly wanting Hua Cheng and feeling guilty about it and literally dying inside because he wants Hua Cheng like he’s never wanted anyone.
Like essentially books 3 and 5 only happen because Hua Cheng has now cursed them both by saying he has a beloved because Xie Lian believes he isn’t wanted and therefore any nice thing Hua Cheng does is just him being nice and not Hua Cheng pulling out steps 23-34 of his plan thinking he still hasn’t won Xie Lian over. (He has he so has but he shot himself in the foot so badly it’s painful to read).
Like thank the Gods Hua Cheng is so unhinged and created the cave of 10000 Gods cause Xie Lian would literally be at his own wedding to Hua Cheng still convinced he wanted someone else and this was in fact a thing they were doing to solve a case together otherwise.
Like he needed something that unhinged to put 2 and 2 together otherwise he never would have caught on he’s Hua Cheng’s beloved. Meanwhile Hua cheng is like 🥺 he’s going to think I’m a weirdo now and I’m only on step 50 of the plan 🥺 like the two of them wouldn’t have been fucking nasty 2 books ago if he just kept his mouth shut and didn’t cockblock himself so violently.
