I've been looking respectfully at this blog nonstop for the last couple weeks while playing through Stories 2 and, frankly, everything I'm seeing here is working super well with my own personal takes and headcanons about the game and stuff. With this in mind, can I get some headcanons about The Gals (but mostly Ena) with a Female Rider S/O who can see the future/has a ton of knowledge on certain Monster species (aka looking up tutorials because i'm a scrub) and gets a ton of anxiety about fighting certain Rage-Rayed monsters? Thanks a ton! (Also, as I write this, I may or may not be currently stressing myself tf out about Crimson Qurupeco, Mizutsune and Lagiacrus rn lol, despite doing a lot of level grinding ^^;)

The Gals (Lilia, Ena, Kayna, and Avinia) with a Female S/O Who Has a Ton of Monster Knowledge and Gets Anxiety with Certain Rage Rayed Monsters

Lilia

-You’re the kind of girl who Lilia greatly loves and admires because of your vast knowledge. In fact, that’s how the two of you first met. It was due to your knowledge of certain monsters. You were in the Guild, looking at all their almanacs, when she found you. Talking led to a relationship, and now Lilia relies heavily on you for advice on monster types. There are things you know that no one else, to her knowledge, has ever known about. It was almost as if you could predict a monster’s behavior.

-Naturally, she understands that you get terrible anxiety when fighting rage-rayed monsters. It’s not as if they are normal by any means. However, Lilia notices that your anxiety gets worse around certain monsters, like if a lagiacrus or some other leviathan that got rage-rayed.

-When this happens, Lilia tries her best to comfort you. Granted, she’s had some experience when it comes to comforting newbie hunters about monsters they have to fight, so she kind of knows what to do. Lilia just wants you to calm down enough to listen to her telling you how strong and brave you are. If that doesn’t work, she will gently hug you until you feel down. She will never panic herself and will always remain calm.

Ena

-With all her years of life, Ena never expected to meet a human woman whose knowledge exceeding hers. Granted, the wyverian never knew too much about monsters to begin with, but she never expected to find someone so studious. But with Ena, it seems that this extreme monster smarts just naturally comes to you. It was something that drew Ena towards you, leading to a relationship with the wyverian.

-Every time you started to talk about monsters that you find fascinating or that the two of you are just admiring from afar, Ena would stare at you like you are the only woman in the world. You could read a monster so well; it was almost like you could see the future.

-She understands the anxiety you get from rage-rayed monsters because she feels the same way. They are terrifying beasts with unnatural power, so your nervousness is understandable. Ena notices how each time you are about to fight, you seem to start shaking and shut down, especially when the monster concerned is one that resembles your own monstie.

-You love your monsties so much that whenever you have to fight a wild one, it breaks your heart. So, when you see the same monster species rage-rayed, you get incredibly anxious because you can only think of your monsties.

-Ena works to calm you down by holding your hand. She expresses her own feelings on the situation and tries to help you understand how you are the only one capable of doing this. If that doesn't work, she goes about telling you how she needs you to do this to help keep her and everyone safe. Ena ends her words with a kiss to your cheek.

Kayna

-Kayna is limited in her monster knowledge, coming from Hakolo Island where monster species are small. She’s smart about the island species, but not much farther than that. That’s why she thinks you are one special lady. You are practically a walking encyclopedia. Kayna could ask you anything and you would know the answer, like you were some kind of physic. This is what starts the relationship between you two.

-She gets that you get really anxious around rage-rayed monsters. Kayna does as well, but she has Avmar with her to help. You might have monsties as well, but it doesn’t seem to quell your worries. She especially notices how you get anxious around rage-rayed monsters that were brute wyverns, like an anjanath.

-To make you feel better, Kayna would be her cheerful and motivational self. She would build up your confidence with many a hug and other gestures. She doesn’t like to see you so stressed, so she would do whatever possible to get you to take down that monster with a grin.

Avinia

-Avinia would be impressed by your vast knowledge of monsters. She always loves when someone just understands these creatures on a deeper sense. It would take a while for her to warm up to you, but after you use your knowledge to warm up to Frostfang, Avinia starts to take a deeper interest in you. That’s how things start, and she always relies on you when it comes to assessments on monsters in the field. It was like you could read their minds.

-She wishes you wouldn’t get so anxious when fighting rage-rayed monsters. Not because it annoys her, Avinia understands, but because she hates seeing you so stressed. She notices how you tend to get worse around certain monsters, like ones that would be deemed aggressively powerful by the Guild.

-To calm you, Avinia goes about it in a collected manner like she always does. She’s not too lovey-dovey about it and will mostly put her hand on your shoulder in a supportive manner. Avinia tells you that you aren’t alone in handling this and will be there to help you when you need it. She won’t let your anxiety get the best of you.

OMG I can’t believe that it has already been a year since Monster Hunter Stories 2 came out ...

I still can’t get over how great this game is and honestly, it was my favorite game of 2021 !

Hope the fandom will still live on, maybe have some DLC’s, and more importantly a third game !

i finally got a week of vacation, not that I will have that much off time tho. But! I finally made time to have a doodle day, just doodling nonesense the whole day and enjoying it. There's one more bigger sketch, but that one I wanna actually do properly, then it's back to coms! Anyways, some more MH stories, mostly bullying bratty boy Kyle with love and adoration XD And some draw the squads too, cos I desperately wanted to add Ena. She's so adorable and so much fun to draw QvQ Once again featuring my and @kathuman's kid's, and ourselves this time too! We definitely adopted that rowdy blonde haired twig boy XD I'm still kinda disappointed the hunters can't ride with us, but putting Reverto on a Palamute or sth would probably have crushed it, hahaha.

And a little context for the Astalos one (slight story spoiler): After Kyle joined in Nua Tae, the first thing I did was hunt down Astalos and try to get an egg. I called him Asparagus and I keep joking he imprinted on Kyle just as much as on my rider, so boy be a papa now XD

Rant

[obvious spoilers for the story and personal dislike of Ena- I recommend not reading this if Ena is your Ride-Or-Die Waifu]

tbh, I really don’t like Ena as a character. She’s pretty to look at, but that’s about it. As I’m replaying the story now and paying more attention to the Character’s actions and not just staring at the pretty visuals... yeah. Her role in the story feels.... kinda useless?

Just. Who exactly is Ena for the Main Character, aka the actual person the story narrative should focus on? ....some random chick that threw them to the ground in a forceful hug, calling them by their dead grandpa’s name and giving them a cursed Rathalos-Egg, and then.... just kinda tags along. There’s just no real reason for her to not just stay in Rutoh after bringing the MC there- her role is done? She told them about Razewing Ratha, delivered the egg, brought them somewhere where they’ll be safe from the Hunters, and that it?

It’s not like she already knows whats going on and has a clear idea how to safe the day and how to prevent Ratha from fucking shit up- just tags along because... the mute MC needs a mouth? Eh, Navirou is already there tho, and having two cute mascots traveling around with you and talking over you all the time is just grating my nerves after a while.

Tbh, I personally prefer Navirou over Ena by FAR. He’s pretty funny imo and brings more to the table than Ena, be it with his powers, with his ability to smell out good eggs (and he’s essentially our Palico, and no matter how dorky he is, I love all of my Palicoes).

I rewatched all of the cutscenes tryina figure out what exactly Ena’s role in the story is, and. All she seems to do is cry, act like Ratha is her monstie (after Ratha destroys the WIndmills for example- she’s talking like she wants to take him away right there and then?) and be given the plot-device to defeat the final boss, for.... what reason again?

She doesn’t even know what the thing is there for- Kyle does. And he ends up figuring out how to create an opening for Ratha to defeat Oltura. I’m not saying that Kyle would’ve defeated Oltura alone, nope- that defeats the whole purpose of the Stories-thing. Friendship and Kinship is the key to victory. But... how does Ena exactly tie into the whole Friendship-dynamic?

She and Kyle didn’t have any real friendly interactions to justify her “My friends here taught me that Kinship is strong!”-speech at the end. And the MC... they didn’t have any scenes either? Unless I’m forgetting some major plot-point where she and the MC shared a heartfelt moment where they deepen their own friendship.

I mean... all I really remember from the MC’s and Ena’s interactions was her talking about how great of a friend Red was and how much the MC is like Red. That’s kinda just... (god I hate this word)... trauma-dumping? I mean she found this random island child that looks like Red and proceeded to talk about her traumatic experience with them and all the other characters in the cast also just continue to talk about how great Red was and how the MC is like Red?

It’s just. Rewatching all of their scenes, Reverto and Kyle seem to be the only ones that don’t constantly rub into MC’s face how they’re basically in Red’s shadow and how big of a legacy they have to live up to? Reverto makes one joke about how the MC got their gramps’ smarts and thats about it, unless I’m forgetting something.

And.... Cheval, especially. When he scolds the MC, I just sat there and thought “You should scold Ena???? She’s the grown up here that leaves this kid that’s been a rider for like a week with this funky Rathalos and expects them to bond with it and contain its power????”

Really, Ena’s role could’ve been taken over by Alwin. He had actual scenes WITH Red to show their bond, but Ena? She just talks about how great of a friend he was to her. I don’t know, it just irks me that she fits the trope of “Shy, caring waifu wearing a skirt” and that seems to be her only real trait- be eye-candy.

SHE feels more like the main character than the character you’re playing- which would’ve been fine if the story would’ve actually revolved around her as the main character, and not just shoved the Player off to the side. I really think that the story would have been better with Ena just being a Side-Character being far FAR off to the side and chilling in Rutoh and not the Main Character being pushed aside. Instead of investing in Ena’s voice-lines, give the MC actual voiced cutscenes- would take away from the blank slate anyone can project themselves onto, but also... better than the MC just staring emotionless while everyone else talks, and then having a weird scene where they’re literally too afraid to touch Ratha cause Ena “scolds” them for having a weak bond with him...? It’s just... weird. The story itself is just weak and Ena having the spotlight in cutscenes instead of the character you’re playing doesn’t do it any good.

One might say now “ofc shed have the focus!! MC doesn’t talk!!” but... the MC also doesn’t talk with actions. Or face expressions. Or anything, really. It’s really just a gimmick at the start of the game, making a custom character to appear next to Ena in the cutscenes.

I don’t dislike Ena.... I just dislike how the story focuses on her. She’s not even very interesting....? There’s nothing we know about her, aside from her traumatic experience with Red. Take Alwin and give us more focus on his and Red’s friendship. Take Kyle and his inner struggle with accepting the whole concept of Riders- he says himself he only knows being a Hunter. There! A plot-line! How the Hunter views Riders and how he changes his view point!

TL;DR, Kyle should’ve had the magic plot device and Alwin should’ve had Ena’s role, Ena could’ve stayed in Rutoh and the story wouldn’t have suffered. Thanks for coming to my ted-talk-

If the Rider World Had a Groupchat...

-It would be chaos. There would be screaming, crying, and perhaps a bit of blood. No one would be safe in this groupchat. It would consist of you (Ratha’s rider), Kyle, Reverto, Cheval, Alwin, Lilia, Ena, Kayna, Avinia, Navirou, and Tsukino.

-You would be the one who starts it, confusing everyone by adding them on without consent. You would also be the one who uses it the most and bothers everyone, Kyle most of all. In fact, you, Navirou, and Tsukino all like to pick on Kyle. Also, you always post pictures of your monsties or what you were doing that day.

-Kyle is just the grumpy one on the groupchat. He is also the one who tends to leave when things get too chaotic. This is the time when you would also force him back on and he would get all cranky. If Kyle ever posts something about his day, you will find something to tease him. Thus, an aggressive convo breaks out between you guys and Kayna always says your flirting.

-Reverto would be the mediator in the groupchat. He normally steps in to offer his opinion on a topic or to break up any aggression between you and Kyle. Also, he will post a ton of selfies of himself, causing people to aggressively scream-text him to stop.

-Cheval is probably the most peaceful one on the groupchat. No one ever picks on him, and he always offers nice opinions and advice. He only shows up once and awhile. Cheval also gives a lot of Rathi updates and pictures because she is his pride and joy.

-Alwin is the silent observer. No one ever sees him say anything in the groupchat, but he always knows what’s going on. Sometimes people forget that Alwin is even on this groupchat because no one talks to him, and he never says anything. However, if he has to say something, it usually ends up being in some form of long paragraph. He’s that guy.

-Lilia is just the inquisitive one who always corrects everyone else. She can never say anything jokingly and she will never respond to a joke. Lilia also gets upset if Reverto posts pictures without her permission, which he always innocently does. People get irritated when Lilia enters the chat because she is just facts incarnated.

-Ena is just the pleasant one in the groupchat. She is always there to bring everyone up, and she is the only one who doesn’t attack Kyle. Ena will also post cute nature photos on the chat that everyone loves. Also, whenever Ena comes on, Alwin usually follows just to ensure that no one picks on her. But he still doesn’t say anything.

-Kayna is absolutely chaotic. You and her together are just asking for trouble since you guys are rather alike. If Kyle starts to verbally abuse you, Kayna will swoop in and protect you. She also is the type to always text with caps lock on, making it look like she is constantly screaming.

-Avinia is like Cheval in just being chill on the groupchat. She will look to see what is going on, and perhaps she will respond to people. Sometimes it will be to thank someone or compliment or tell people to knock it off because they are blowing up her notifications. You can imagine her profile pic is Frostfang.

-Navirou gets blocked from the chat. He is the one to type out mini sentences which results in nearly twenty notifications blowing up your phone. You guys have blocked and then unblocked him several times.

-Tsukino rarely uses her own account and just hacks into Kyle’s instead. She loves to mess with him, and this is exactly how she does that, by invading his privacy. Sometimes she uses her own, but then it’s just embarrassing her hunter further.

Ray of Hope (part 1)

Note : This story happens after Stories 2

This story will include a character from another Capcom game and an Original Character of mine.

Oltura was defeated, the World was safe, everyone was relieved that this was all over. Nobody will ever forget what that Rider and his Razewing Rathalos did to save them all, risking their lives for them. They will also never forget the bravery of the two people that accompanied this Rider for this quest ; a young Hunter and a Wyverian girl : Kyle and Ena, who are now close friends with the young Rider. Three days have passed since the battle against this powerful Elder Dragon ended. However, there was something that was on the Wyverian girl’ mind. After she came back in Rutoh, she immediately told everything to Alwin and the Elder. In the end, she told her concern towards Zellard, since the last time she saw him was when she stopped him from falling into the pit. After Oltura was ultimately defeated, she tried to look up for Zellard but couldn’t find him anywhere. She knew he was injured because of the battle but also because he fell pretty badly after being pulled away from Razewing Ratha. While explaining everything, she took Zellard’s defence :

“I saved Zellard from himself, I made him open his eyes. I’m sure that deep inside, the Zellard we always knew is still there. I...want to believe that he will come back to the village, and mostly, that he regrets his actions and wants to...you know, atone for his sins...”

“I don’t know, Ena, Alwin replied, if he manages to leave, that means he is fine, at least physically...”

“No, Alwin, you don’t understand ! Ena yelled back at him. You know that Zellard is tough but still ! He was injured ! He was even limping as far as I remember ! Please I just want to find him ! I...I have a bad feeling about this...” Ena mumbled, tears almost running down her cheeks. Her grandfather noticed this, and his face suddenly looks sad... He was in deep thoughts for a few seconds before finally saying a word :

“I agree with you Ena, I knew Zellard for such a long time and, considering all of this...I...also believe that he can come back to us. We have to look for him.” He ultimately said. Alwin seemed a bit agast by it, but deep down he agreed with them. He called on Shaulk and together, they get to Hakolo Island, looking for the Elder’s confidant.

Three days later, and still nothing, no signs of Zellard. The group decided to look around the coastline, the only place that they didn’t check on the island. They decided to split up to look for him. Before the sun disappears, Elder Maolo found a piece of tissue near a fence. He decided to pass through the fence and started to slowly go down the cliff. Ena noticed him.

“Grandfather ! What are you doing ? She asked, obviously worried of the path her grandfather is taking.

I found a piece of tissue, one that is similar to Zellard’s. He must have gone that way !

What ? No way !...Ena mumbled. I don’t think he could have gone that way, he was injured, that’s too dangerous...

But what if he fell, Ena ? Maolo replied. That would explain the tissue I found. You said it yourself Ena ; he was injured. Literally anything could have happened to him at that point...”

Ena was a bit lost, but she still let her grandfather go down the cliff.

“Please be careful Grandfather...”

The village elder will obviously listen to his granddaughter’s words, and he goes down carefully with the help of his staff. On his way down, he started to see a silhouette laying on the ground, near some rocks. He couldn’t see the person’s body entirely, but he noticed the lower part of the body, and it had Wyverian legs. At that moment, he was sure of it : he had found his confidant.

“Zellard ! ZELLARD !” He shouted, hoping to see him move, but the body remains inert. He will then get Ena’s attention.

“Ena ! Go find Alwin and Shaulk ! I’ve found Zellard !” Upon hearing those words, Ena quickly rushed forward to find Alwin. As the Elder continues his way, he could finally be near Zellard, who was uncouscious. Maolo was more than panicked to see him in such a state. His armor was even more damaged than before, with his left arm and leg being completely revealed and in a horrendous state, especially his arm : it was badly burned, but there was something else. His armor was also shattered in the chest, showing a huge purplish pink cross-like scar “carved” on his chest. Elder Maolo was obviously shocked to see him like that, but he was focused on waking him up.

“Zellard ! Wake up ! It’s me, Elder Maolo ! Can you hear me ? Come on, open your eyes ! Please, I’m begging you !...” He tried everything to wake him up, or at least see him move or open his eyes. During this attempt of shaking him up, he heard Shaulk flying closer to them, and calls them out for help.

“Over here ! Alwin ! Ena ! We’re down here ! He shouted to catch their attention.

“...E...Elder...” Maolo heard a slight voice and immediately looked down to see his confidant slowly regaining conscience.

“Yes ! Zellard ! I’m here ! Hang in there ! We’ll get you out of here and you will be taken care of. Don’t worry...” Maolo said everything to calm and cheer him up, he will also try his best to maintain him conscious.

“I’m so...sorry...” He could only put a hand on his eyes, hiding his tears as he realized the Wyverian who knows him since he was a child was there, but thinking about his mistakes made him cry instantly in front of the elder.

“Don’t worry about that, we will take care of you. Alwin and Ena are coming to get you with Shaulk, it’s okay...” Maolo conforted him.

Later on, Alwin and Ena took him on Shaulk’s back and brought them to the coastside. But when they landed, two men were there, coming closer to them. The shorter one started to tell them that they want to help Zellard :

“My name is Locksin, and this is Karl. We’re here to help your Wyverian friend.

What do you mean ?” Alwin replied, obviously not trusting them.

“What your friend had been through will change him forever, you obviously know it. Locksin answered. Not only does he need a long rest because of his physical state, but now his mind is...

Literally fucked up, not gonna lie. Karl suddenly shouted, interrupting Locksin. But we can help him out if he comes with us, right Lock’ ?” The latter looked at Karl for a moment before finally continuing what he was saying :

“Yes. If he comes into the Crystal Empire, we can all help him climbing back the...hole he fell down...Pun not intended...” To further their point of view, they explained the story of the Crystalling people, how they were imprisonned, tortured and lost all hope and willing to live. Thankfully, they managed to get through this long horrible phase. Hence why they believe they will help Zellard all together if he stays with them for a while.

“We can help him get his redemption. With that being said, if we succeed, he will be able to come back to Rutoh one day...” Locksin explained.

In all honesty, the three Wyverians were conflicted ; they wanted to help Zellard but they didn’t know how, and at the same time they didn’t know how the villagers would react if he came back literally a few days after that incident like nothing happened. They decided to accept the two men’s request and wishing them the best for him. Before leaving them, Ena came near Zellard’s barely conscious body and take his hand on hers.

“Come back to us one day, Zellard. We hope you’ll make it...” She said in that reassuring voice of hers, before leaving him to Karl and Locksin.

They were scared, but they really hope they could help Zellard better than what they thought they could do...

Now that I’ve been left alone for 5 minutes with my thoughts, I’ve started thinking up names for my monsties as a s/I into the WoF universe, and I start off with a Nergigante (gonna call him Dirt as a joke on Grima/grime :>) which takes some time for Alwin and especially Ena to get used to.

Then once they’ve just gotten used to Dirt I show up again and Alwin is like ‘oh god what now?’ And I’m like

Me: got a new Monstie! They’re called Ultra or Vio!

Ena: Oh, like Violet?

Me: Nope! Like Ultra Violence!

And then I get kicked out the village bc it turns out Violence is a White Fatalis
