Description
Emelia Tran Ludenburg is the representative of the Island of Chronisse, a small, yet developing island located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. She is described by the villagers that live there to be hardworking, considerate, shy, and just a bit dark. She holds a serious and cunning reputation, similarly to that of a stern mayor. However, she holds those close to her... close. And dear to her are the ones that matter. She strives for perfection at every angle, but can’t help but make a mistake every now and again.

Relationships
*Note ~ Any Animal Crossing works I post portrays the villagers as their gijinkas. Their human forms.
Raymond ~ Friendship Level 6
Raymond arrived last August right after the campsite was established, being the first one to arrive. (Yep. I’m telling the truth. Right before my birthday too.) When Emelia first saw Raymond, she knew who he was right away. How could she not know who he was?! She begged asked Tom to let him live in Chronisse just minutes around maybe a few hours after speaking to him. Although it may seem as though Raymond makes her swoon, it’s rather the opposite. He intimidates her, but that fills her stomach with butterflies. They have similar auras and similar interests in mind. He just melts her little goth heart! On his end, she’s a hardworking human who entertains him nonetheless. He can’t get enough of her, watching her carry on with her everyday business and offering to help at times, which flusters her.
Poppy ~ Friendship Level 6
Poppy arrived in January of 2021 when she went out time traveling, making her the second villager to arrive. Emelia thinks of Poppy like a sister, always there for reassurance and advice. She labels her to be the brains of the island, despite her claiming otherwise. Emelia took her advice on creating LGBT inspired fireworks for the upcoming summer, and she’s thrilled to see them. Emelia, in Poppy’s eyes, is just how she calls her— a softie! Soft and beautiful. She looks up to Emelia, sometimes complimenting her on her work with the island or helping her with nature esque furniture. She remembers on her birthday when she gave her a close line and several tops, including a shirt that was made up of the colors of the lesbian pride flag. She could never thank her enough for that.
Judy ~ Friendship Level 6
Judy was found in a mystery island in October, making her the third to stay. Out of all the girls, Emelia feels as though she can relate to Judy the most. (Minus the bitchiness that exudes from Judy but-) Judy and Emelia share the same fashion sense, which is why she prefers to go shopping with her. What really gets to Judy though is what she can do with Emelia’s emotions. She loves to mess with her and her love admiration for Raymond. So what does she do? She invited Raymond along on ther shopping sprees from time to time. But really, Judy knows Emelia well. She knows she wants to show off. She wants to help her with her confidence, the same way that Emelia does. They’re confidence boots for each other.
Murphy ~ Friendship Level 4
Murphy arrived November using the campsite, the fourth villager to come by. See, Murphy is an older guy. Emelia doesn’t hang around him often, but he’s nice to be around. He gives good advice to her and he helps out around the island without being asked. When she saw that he was interacting well with the other villagers, she investigated him herself. He seemed trustworthy, despite the fact he nags and complains a lot. Raymond got involved with him which really peaked her interest, so she invested more time in him. Murphy likes the fact she’s spunky, but worries for her at times when she overworks herself. He offers her food sometimes and a place to relax when he sees she’s a bit tired or sore. Being a bit of a tsundere, Murphy can’t say he enjoys her company, because he does. Overall, they don’t interact as often as one would prefer, but they do get along.
Skye ~ Friendship Level 5
Skye is the fifth villager, she was found in November on a mystery island. She doesn’t know what attracted her to Skye, but they clicked. Maybe it was her innocent appearance? The combo of chocolate brown and aquamarine? Her friendly yet intimidating nature? No one knows. However, they do get along nicely. Skye almost thinks of Emelia as a good friend, whereas Emelia thinks of her as an older sister figure. She’s got a wolf like personality. She may be calm and aloof, but she can pack a punch if need be. That’s what she likes about her. Skye finds everything that her island’s rep does to be very caring, yet she worries for her at times. She once told her that sometimes she doesn’t seem to understand how hard she works herself and her body, and that it would be a good idea to relax for a while. Take some time for yourself, she said. Nevertheless, Emelia had one goal in mind... she was looking for someone... Skye admired her perseverance but gosh...
Marshal ~ Friendship Level 5
Snow was falling on the night he arrived, the sixth villager to move in. He came around December, just days before Christmas. Upon seeing him, she nearly had a panic attack. She remembered wanting to have an elite island populous. Now was her chance! For months, she had been searching for this man. (For real. I’m telling the truth. This man was exhausting to find and he has the audacity to—) Emelia then made it her personal mission to try and get him over. She succeeded, after a few hours of begging and pleading and bargaining conversation. She treats him and Raymond like kings, and unlike Raymond, Marshal returns her behavior. He drinks his juice and presents himself to be the island’s himbo. She loves him for this. She remembers in New Years Eve when they were both waiting for the clock to run out and he hugged her when the clock ran out. She never felt more flustered in her life. Overall, they treat each other like royalty. Best coffee mates.
Axel ~ Friendship Level 1
A jock...? The seventh villager to arrive in early February. and she can’t stand him already. She thought she could take Kid Cat, which he was fine. But this man? He’s too big and too brooding for her to handle sometimes. She could be just setting a cute little cafe up by her flower gardens, and she would see him and shiver. She doesn’t really like jocks that much. She wishes to find Dom though, but other than him that’s about it. Axel doesn’t really know a lot about her because she never talks to him, but he does find her pretty cute. Small and dainty. When he sees her speak to Raymond or Marshal, he pours because of how “weak” they are compared to him. It’s not that she doesn’t like Axel, it’s just that she feels as though she’s a little too intimidated by him, to an overwhelming degree.
Stitches ~ Friendship Level 4
She loooves Stitches! He came by in Late February, the eighth villager for her to meet. She saw him and felt a little warm on the inside. He warms her heart with his innocent sleepy nature and his baking expertise. A good ol’ mama’s boy! She pats his head and he melts. Stitches looks up to Emelia as though she was a mother duckling. He tries to imitate her sometimes, to which those imitations go completely wrong and she ends up having a good laugh. Emelia however sometimes stops and ponders at how Stitches can be so carefree and laidback. She gets jealous at time to time when it comes to this behavior if his, and sometimes wants to be like him, but she knows she has priorities to fulfill. Until that day comes, she’ll continue to cheer Stitches on from afar, like the good boy he is.
Marina ~ Friendship Level 3
Marina is the ninth villager to call Chronisse home, arriving in early March after being found on a mystery island. She reminded her of Poppy, so she brought her over. Now she started a little group comprised of Skye, Poppy, and now Marina. The normal trio. Her love for the color pink intrigues her yet freaks her out. How much pink does one need? She thinks she’s sweet though, with her cute sweatshirts. Marina finds Emelia to be strong yet kind, and a force to be reckoned with. Although she has to thank her for allowing her to meet Poppy, (refer to my headcanons for that,) she’s about to realize that this is just the beginning of a relationship bound to blossom, if she’s willing to work with Emelia that is.
Merengue ~ Friendship Level 2
Merengue is the tenth villager to show up. She showed up in Mid March. She just met Emelia, so she doesn’t really have a lot to say about her. But when she listens to everyone else minus Axel, she wonders if she’ll believe them. Emelia tries so very hard to appeal to Merengue, however, it may take some time before she can say that she’s her friend. Like Poppy, she was apprehensive at first when meeting Emelia, due to her aura and overall appearance. However, when noticing her softer nature, she began to soften around her just a bit. We’ll just have to let time decide on a true answer. Maybe in time things will turn up.
~~~~
Another OC intro, done. This is my Animal Crossing OC... one of them. I have another one, but I’m nervous about presenting her. Maybe one day after I tweak her up a bit. Until then... ✨😊
FIRST DATE
You were waiting this since Tom called, asking if you still wanted to go to the cinema with him. You didn’t give a second thought, because when would have happened again to go out with Tom L/N? You agreed for Thursday and finally it had arrived!
You chose to wear something simple: a flowered salmon dress and the black motorcyle boots, that you wore with everything. The meeting point was in front of the store where you saw each other for the first time.
You were punctual, as always, but he wasn’t there yet. You looked around and decided to sit on a bench close by. While you waited, you read a book with your headphones on to concentrate and isolate the noise around. After 5 minutes, you saw that someone was seated on your left and had lifted the book cover to read the title of the book you were reading. You turned around quickly and ended up at a 2 cm distance from a man with sunglasses and a Laker cap, who had a beautiful and contagious smile. He closed your book, raised his hands toward your face, removed sweetly the headphones and gave them to you.
—Hey.
—Excuse me, do I know you?—you said with a concerned expression.
He lowered the glasses and you saw those green eyes that were thoroughly looking at you, his scent arrived to your brain and it blocked it, so you couldn’t formulate a complete sentence.
—Uh hey.
—Sorry, I’m late. There’s traffic and I had to find a parking space.
—D-Don’t worry I arrived just a while ago.
—All right. Shall we go, Milady? —Tom said slowly standing and offering his hand.
—Uh surely, sir —you said taking his hand. Then you stood up and didn’t know if leaving his hand or keep on to hold it. At the end you decided to leave his hand, because yours were beginning to sweat.
You walked very near, making small talk and making your fingers constantly brush.
—However this dress is beautiful. It really suits you.
—Thank you—you said shyly, looking down and blushing. —You’re not so bad yourself.
He was wearing low waist jeans, a grey pullover that made his eyes pop, a black leather jacket and brown lace up boots.
—Lots of people agree—he said with a deliberate smirk.
—Very humble, I see. —You burst out laughing.
—But said from you, it has more importance.
You went on walking and after a few meters you arrived.
—Here we are.
Outside it was one of these old vintage theaters, with a white theatre marquee and big black letters, where it was written “The Proposal”, and not the title of the film they were supposed to watch. Tom stopped with a frown.
—Whatta..? Wait a minute. I’ll go asking informations.
—Okay.
He came back after a couple of minutes.
—Apparently, I was wrong. The lady said “Far and away” will be projected next week.
—Oh..
—So…what do you want to do?—he said concerned.
—Since we’re here, we could watch it. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but this is one of my favorites.
—Really? I’ve never seen it.  —He smiled and brought his hand on the neck.
—What?! OHH you’ll love it— you said taking his hand and dragging him into che ticket office. You bought your tickets and always with entwined hands you went buying pop-corns for him and crisps for you. You sat down, Tom removed his sunglasses and hat and after a few seconds, the film began.
During the first half you laughed a lot, looked at each other and stolen snacks one another. But, when the second half began, Tom put his right arm on yours chair-back and stretched the other to grab your hand. Your back went straight and your eyes were wide-open. You turned around to look at him. He smiled, then turned his head toward the screen as nothing had happened. After a couple of minutes, you relaxed. For the rest of the film, you remained close with entwined fingers. Every once in a while, you felt that Tom drew lines and circles on your palm with his thumb and in those moments you closed your eyes, trying to memorize these sensations and slow your breathing.
When the moment that made you always cry was near, you leaned agains his shoulder, inhaling his scent e trying to focus on something else, in order not to make the tears go.
—Hey honey, what’s going on?—he asked with a low and sweet voice, pinning strands of hair behind your ears.
You sighed.
—I usually cry a lot on this scene—you said snuffling.
He chuckled, bit tried to hide it with his hand.
—Are you laughing?
—Nope.
—Yes, you are! You’re mean—you said between crying and laughing, giving him a smack on his shoulder.
—No, come on take it—he gave you an handkerchief and a kiss on your cheek.
You raised your head. —Thanks. I look like an idiot, do I?
—No, absolutely. —He watched you smiling softly while he wiped away a tear with his thumb. You blowed your nose and relaxed a little bit. In the meantime, Tom went on watching the film, hugged you from his seat and absent-mindedly curled your hair with his fingers.
When the lights went on, he grabbed your hand and exited the cinema.
—So…did you liked the film?
—I have to admit that…yeah, I loved it and could end up on my favorites list for lots of reasons—he answered looking you straight in the eyes. In his words there was a hidden meaning that you perfectly understood.
—What about an ice-cream?
—It’s perfect. After all the salad, I need something sweet.
—Come with me, I know the right place.
You took an ice-cream cone with chocolate, strawberry and lemon, while he opted for a medium cup with hazelnut, pistachio and coconut. He paid and then you decided to sit on a bench; he sat astride and you customarily.
—Interesting choice of ice-cream flavors.
—Oh yeah? They’re my favorites since I was a kid. Alone they’re too sweet or bitter, but together are perfect.
—Can I sample?
—Uh sure. —You extended your cone and he took little samples with his tiny plastic spoon.
—You’re right. Together they’re pretty good. Here, try mine. What do you prefer?
—Hmm.coconut.
He took a sample always with his little spoon and brought it to your lips.
—Open.
—Eh?
—Open your mouth.
You obeyed and ate the ice-cream. In doing so, Tom never took his eyes away from yours. He had an intense and very serious look and his eyes obscured, becoming a dark green with light brownish flecks.
You went on talking about the things you loved and you hated and laughing. A lot. You noticed people began watching at you and when they saw who the man was, they started murmuring. You tried to ignore it, but you felt uneasy, couldn’t maintain the same position for 3 seconds straight and tortured your fingers.
—Have you ever seen the sunset from the Hollywood Hills?
—I’ve never been there, not even in the daytime..—you said almost excusing yourself.
—What?! Then we make it up immediately. Come with me.
He took you hand and went to his car. After 10 minutes you were on top on the hill, in the exact moment to see the sunset e the wonderful colors which spread over the city. It was a mix between red, orange and yellow. You were astonished.
—Soo..what do you think?
—It’s…I don’t know how to describe it. I’m speechless.
You looked astonished the city and thought that if your life had finished in that moment, you wouldn’t have done anything to stop it. You felt peaceful and happy. In the meantime, Tom was looking at you, trying to memorize every detail of your face and said:
—You’re right. It’s stunning.
You looked at one another and slowly began getting closer. You realized it right on time, so you pulled back and turned your face.
—What about a picture? To frame the moment..
You believed you had seen disappointment pass through his eyes, but it passed very quickly, so you strike a pose and he took the picture. Then you switched and you took one where the light and the moment were perfect and various of the landscape.
—I know lots of people ask the same question, but…would you like taking one photo together?
—Uh, ehm..s-sure.
At the end, you took different pictures: one where you smiled, one where you looked at each other intensely and others with funny faces.
You had to dine by the owners of the book-café where you worked, who lived near your flat. So, since it was late, you accepted a passage. When you arrived, he turned off the car and turned towards you.
—I’ve spent a very beautiful day. Thank you. Really—you said smiling broadly.
—Thanks to you. I haven’t spent a day like this in ages.
You kept silent for a while.
—Please, promise me that you’ll keep that pictures for yourself and won’t publish them on social media—he said taking your hand and grazing smoothly your fingers.
—Sorry, what?
—You won’t send that photos to anyone. Least of all to journalists.
You retracted your hand abruptly.
—Do you really think that I would do something like that?
He stayed in silence, leaving your eyes, as the answer was pretty obvious.
—So you don’t trust me…Well—you said bitterly—I believed you liked me, that we had an opportunity to be happy together. I could have fallen in love with you so easily! Apparently, I was wrong..
—No, wait! I like you. A lot.
You look at him skeptically.
—I’m saying the truth. And I wanna try building something with you apart from friendship.
—Yeah, sure. I bet you say that to everyone before you fuck them! —You felt tears forming in your eyes and tried not to make them fall. —But I’m sorry for you, I’m not that type of girl. Much less one that stab people in the back. —You opened your side door, but  you turned towards him and said: —Maybe you would know it, if you had listened closely.. —Then you violently closed the door and run to your flat. Tom tried to stop you, to run behind you and to apologize, but you had already entered.
What a prick you had been! You really believed that Tom had invited you out because he liked you and not for his purposes? You like him, a lot, you could have fallen in love with him, but apparently he could’t even trust you, let alone having a relationship with you. You took deep breaths and promised not to think about him or the beautiful day you had spent together, because, probably, it wouldn’t have been others. Moreover it was useless suffering for someone like him.
The problem was that you couldn’t maintain the promise you made, since every time you hold the phone in your hands, you couldn’t stop watching your pictures, especially his. You deleted them, but you instantly regretted and restored them within 5 minutes. What had you angered the most was the fact that he didn’t trust you, even after he had know you. He didn’t understand your personality and your values and maybe he didn’t care, because now he couldn’t distinguish the good people from the bad ones. Maybe he was so used to be stabbed in the back, he presupposed that, eventually, someone would have betrayed him. But, as you said, weren’t that type of person.
For a couple od day you didn’t hear from him, and you thought he forgot you. But then started the phone calls, which you refused, and apologies messages which you didn’t answer, because you were still angry with him and disappointed and then you were working, so you couldn’t leave what you were doing and answer.
It was a busy day at the café, clients hustling and bustling and you didn’t have a moment for yourself. You were searching for other cups under the workbench and, when you stood up with your eyes down, there was a napkin ahead of you that said: “I’ve beed a badass :( I’m sorry. Please, forgive me”. You lifted your gaze and there was Tom, with our glasses or caps that hid hid identity. He had a bummed face, his puppy green eyes stuck to yours.
—Can we talk, please?
—As you can see, I’m busy right now—you coldly replied with a hushed tone, to avoid people listening.
—I can wait.
—My shift ends in 3 hours. I’ll call you back, alright?
—No, I’ve no intention to let you go and I won’t leave before having spoken with you. I’ll sit, so when you’re done, we will talk.
Said that, he backed away without ordering and sat at a table in the angle, near the bookshelves. For the first 30 minutes, he watched you working, following every move and never taking his eyes off you, and it irritated you. To distract him, you made someone bring him a cup a coffee, something to eat and a napkin, in which you wrote: “Could you stop watching me? You’re making me anxious”.
As soon as Tom read the message, he smiled toward you. And damn it! It was one of those wonderful smiles, where his eyes squint a little, the corners of his mouth went up and dimples appeared on his cheeks. You smiled like a dopey and the client had to repeat his order several times before your brain and hands reconnected.
Eventually your shift ended and you forgot about Tom, until when you saw him at the table, his eyes focused on the same book you were reading. You went near him uncertainly and when he saw you, he got up and made you sit beside him. Your shoulders were toward the door, so anyone could see your faces.
—Thank you for the coffee, I really needed it—he said gratefully.
You were still hurt since his lack of trust, so you decided to remain aloof.
—After all, it’s my job..
He looked at you, figuring out how much you were still mad at him.
—Did i disappoint you, did I?
—Yeah.
He lowered his head, shut his eyes and clenched his fingers, till his knuckles became white.
You hated seeing in like that, so you tried to explain what hurt you.
—You must understand that for me trust and honesty are essentials. I think that if they’re not present, it’s impossible to create long-lasting relationships.
—I totally understand.
—And if I have to be completely honest, I’m uneasy. —He opened his eyes and faced you. —I don’t know how to behave when people recognize you, I’m afraid I’ll say or do something stupid, which would embarrass you or that could create you problems with paps.
He took your hand and tightened it between his.
—You don’t have to worry about that. I only want you to be yourself, because, even if I don’t know you yet, for me you are perfect—he said shyly.
—You’re very sweet, do you know that?
—Really? I’ve never been told before. Maybe because I’ve never felt like this before with anyone else.
He never diverted his eyes from your, to show you he was being earnest.
You stayed silent for awhile.
—Can I ask you something?
—Sure—he said caressing your hand, to give you strength.
—Why you asked me a date if you didn’t trust me? And above all, why me? A very common and boring girl, and not an actress or a model?
—It’s just that I like you immediately. You were so focused and you were..are adorable. The others were interested only in my money or fame, but you’re so different.
—You don’t have to worry about me stealing you fame. I just want to be invisible—you said smiling.
—See? That’s why I like you. You don’t go searching for popularity or exposure. You are true, concrete—he said caressing your cheek.
You blushed and lowered your eyes. Tom immediately lifted your chin and looked at you.
—Regarding trust, I’ve always had problems about figuring out who to trust, and at the end I made the wrong choices. But with you, I don’t know..I’ve a different vibe. I feel I can be myself, even with all my flaws, and I can tell you everything. You inspire confidence.
—Uh..thanks. Let’s say that treason and the other thing aren’t my thing. I know I would feel guilty and I wouldn’t forgive myself for being dishonest or unfair toward someone else. It isn’t in my DNA.
He draw you closer and hugged you, without worrying about people watching.
—I don’t know why I said those things. Maybe out of habitude—he whispered in your left ear. Then he put his forehead against yours.
—Believe me when I say that with you I’ll be different. Before cutting to the chase, I want to woo you, bringing you flowers, spending time together, going to the cinema and the things normal couples do. I don’t want to rush and regret in the future.
—On this, I agree with you—you said smiling.
—Good. So…If I would ask for a second chance…would you concede it?—he wondered shyly, with a note of nervousness.
You pretended to think about it, putting your index finger on your lips, theatrically.
—Mmmh…let me think…considering our first date, which began really well and ended that way…—you said watching him strictly— …I’d say.. YES.
When he heard your words he was waiting anxiously, he breaths a sight of relief and his face lighted with a 1000 watt smile.
—Really?
—Yep, really, really.
He draw you without worrying about people, laughing and whispering ‘thanks’ many times. When you broke away, he rose to his feet taking your hand and you went out through the rear of the café.
He took you home and when you arrived, he accompanied you to the door. You asked him if he wanted to come inside, but he preferred staying out with you for awhile. You were saying goodbye when he stopped, looked at your lips as to ask your permission and when you accepted, he leaned and kissed you. Your first kiss as a couple. It was something wonderful, magic, spectacular, which made you feel butterflies in your belly and at the same time you saw fireworks. When you came off, you felt dizzy. Tom put his hands on your cheeks and said with a sincere smile: —Next time, there will be plenty of kisses. It’s a promise. —Then he went to his car, always watching you, and left.
At this point, you were eagerly awaiting for your next date.
Texture & Pattern
Tumblr media
Vincent Van Gogh
Texture Texture refers to the surface quality of an object. Texture is an important component of a successful composition because it appeals to our sense of touch. This is true even when we do not actually touch an object our memories provide the sensory reaction or sensation of what that object might fell like if touched. Texture becomes one more element for us to think about when we look at any composition.
In effect, the various light and dark patterns of different textures are visual clues for us to enjoy the textures vicariously. Of course all objects have some surface quality even if it is only unrelieved smooth flatness. The element of texture is illustrated in art when an artist purposely exploits contrast and surfaces to provide visual interest.
There are two categories of artistic texture - tactile and visual (actual and illusion).
Tactile Texture Tactile texture is texture that can actually be touched. In painting texture describes the uneven paint surface. In graphic design texture can add a sense of reality “realness”. Things that seem more real to life often result in a more emotional response from the viewer, and can in turn be more memorable.
Architecture and sculpture employ actual material and have what is called tactile texture – texture that can actually be felt. In painting the same term describes an uneven paint surface, when an artist uses the paint (a technique called impasto) so that a rough, three dimensional paint surface results.
Consider Vincent van Gogh‘s painting from the top of this lesson. Texture is not just created through the pattern of short brushstrokes, but it is also created through the ridges and phrased edges of the paint strokes that are obvious to the viewers eye. The painting is revealing what it truly is– Paint on surface– Not just an illusion. Same goes for Thiebaud’s painting below:
As we’ve been exploring through this class a traditional idea of a collage is gluing down pieces of colored and textured papers cloth and other materials. Collage moved from a folk art to A fine art in the 20th century. Collage allows us to Play with compositional arrangements more easily by cutting reshaping and altering images and moving them around before pasting them down.
Anne Ryan worked mainly in collages of cloth. Her closet show various bits of cloth and contrasting leaves and textures interspersed with some scraps of printer paper. The light and dark pattern is interesting but her attention is mostly drawn to the contrast of tactile textures. See below:
Texture can also be created through the illusion of texture. By reproducing the color and value of patterns of familiar textures, artists can encourage us to see textures where none actually exist. Visual texture carries the same visual punch as Tactile texture. Visual texture can also be created with photography, used on its own or as a filler for a shape, foreground or background.
In painting artist can create the impression of texture on a flat smooth paint surface. By reproducing the color and value patterns of familiar textures painters can encourage us to see textures where none actually exist. This is called visual texture. The impression of texture is purely visual – an illusion - it cannot be felt or enjoyed by touch. It is only suggested to her eyes. Artists use this as a way to stimulate the composition and move your eye around the surface. Various textures can convincingly be re-created. Visual texture can be an interesting design element even without subject matter or any pictorial reference.
Max Ernst, Surrealist painter
The ultimate point in portraying visual texture is called trompe l’oeil the French term meaning to for the eye. This style is commonly defined as deceptive painting. In trompe l’oeil the objects in sharp focus are delineated with meticulous care. The artist copies the exact visual color and value pattern of each surface. A deception occurs because the appearance of objects is so skillfully reproduce that we are momentarily fooled. We look closer, even though our rational brain identifies the image as a paining and not the actual object.
20th century artistic emphasis has been on abstraction, distortions, and non-objective patterns. But in much art the trompe l’oeil tradition continues And is not limited to painting. Marilyn Levine works in ceramics as seen in “Thom’s Jacket” from 1989 below.  it is incredibly realistic but again it’s made of ceramics and is an illusion.
Texture and Pattern It would be difficult to draw a straight line between texture and pattern. We immediately associate the word pattern with printed fabrics such as plaid, stripes, polkadots and floral patterns. Pattern is usually defined as a repetitive design, with the same motif appearing again and again. texture, too, often repeats, but it’s variations usually do not involve such perfect regularity. The difference in the two terms is admittedly slight. material such as burlap would be identified right readily as a tactile texture. Yet the surface design is repetitive enough that a photograph of burlap could be quite a pattern. Once a visual texture is represented within the confines of a space or shape it often may look flat to our eyes and take on the characteristics of a pattern.The essential distinction between texture and pattern seems to be whether the surface arouses our sense of touch or merely provides designs appealing to the eye. While every texture makes a sort of pattern, not every pattern could be considered a texture.
Pattern is a great way to distinguish between areas of contrast on an image and compositions.
Pattern inspiration There are many artists, designers, and architects that employ beautiful, intricate and complex patterns. I’ve compiled the “best of” collection to inspire you for your Patterns Assignment. Each image is accompanied by a short description of the artist/designer/architect/etc., and each name is hyper-linked to their website (if applicable), so you can get more details on the people that inspire you the most.
Sol LeWitt, whose deceptively simple geometric sculptures and drawings and ecstatically colored and jazzy wall paintings established him as a lodestar of modern American art.
Take a close look at the figure-ground relationship in the works by M.C. Escher, who is most known for his impossible architecture and landscape drawings, showcasing his play on perspective and point of view to create structures which ultimately cannot exist. I have always been more captivated by Escher’s pattern works. His ability to create a fluid and seamless plane of repeated images fitting perfectly together is both unrivaled and inspiring.
African Textiles are infused with spiritual and mythical meaning in the actual pattern designs on the cloth. Specific patterns are also used as a form of identity with each tribe having their own unique patterns.
Texture/Pattern Project 1. In your sketch book draw out at least 4-5 distinct textures or patterns. Play and experiment. Look at the textures you might have around the house. How could you translate them onto a two dimensional surface? Draw each texture or pattern in a thumbnail shape (no less than a 1″x1″ square) this that you do not have to fill an entire page.
2. Once you have created your patterns and textures you will find an image that is of interest to you from a magazine, newspaper, picture, image you print out, etc.
3. You are going to recreate this image on a piece of bristol paper (if you don’t have access to your bristol you can use a piece of computer paper). You will recreate this image using the textures and patterns you created with your thumb nails. Each texture or pattern you use must replace a color/value in your original image. You must choose your textures or patterns appropriately to convincingly recreate the value changes in the image with only a texture or pattern. Therefore you may want to tweak your original texture and pattern designs to account for apparent value changes in you image. If there is a darker area on your original image, you might want to make your pattern more condensed and smaller. If there is a lighter area on your original image, you might want to make the pattern larger and less condensed.
 Also depending on your image you may need to create a few more textures or patterns. (Textures or patterns can also be specific to the image, for example: if wood is representing in your image then you may want to create a wood pattern for these areas of your image - you do not have to though.)
4. Your recreated image will be in back and white using the different patterns and textures to distinguish the areas of value. This project should be done in micron pen and sharpie. All colors and values in your image must be translated to a texture or pattern.
Project examples
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Final Product In the end you should have 3 part for this project. 1. The original image in presentation format on a piece of bristol paper. 2. Thumb nail sketches. 3.The final recreated image (on bristol paper) with all values converted to textures and patterns.
*Again if you do not have access to your bristol paper you may use computer paper.
--- Techinques ---
Ninjutsu:
Hana is quite good when it comes to ninjutsu, her main element is earth and then wind, she has quite a handful of jutsus but she mostly uses her signature ones.
Techniques:
Jinsei no Uta: Meaning the song of life, one of Hana’s abilities she took after her mother was her beautiful voice, since she loved to sing she decided to have a use for it, so this song is a jutsu that she often uses after the battle is over. As you know, sometimes battles leave behind lots of destruction behind, with this jutsu Hana sings and the nature takes place, beautiful flowers bloom, the grass and the plants take over the bodies and the destruction of the battles and it turns everything into new life.
Hanabira no Odori: It’s a jutsu that consists in flower petals and a very strong wind, besides making the opponent not seeing well, the petals also cut at the touch.
Taijutsu:
Hana exceeds at Taijutsu, she has an incredible amount of speed and agility that makes things easier, but on the other side, her body can only take much, and her stamina isn’t great. In taijutsu she doesn’t’ stick to techniques, her style of fighting is very “free”.
Techniques:
Tsume dageki: She uses thorns to create some kind of spikes or even claws and she strikes the opponent down with it, it’s usually her final move.
Genjutsu:
Hana is not good at Genjutsu at all but there is one she can use. She used this genjutsu on Tomoe when he was almost dying due to a ambush in Kirigakure.
Techniques:
Amai Yume: Literally meaning sweet dreams, Hana sings a soft lullaby who relaxes the victim’s body and sends them into a deep sleep that makes them remind of their most happy memory. It’s a jutsu she developed in order to use it on herself when she couldn’t stop having nightmares and she needed rest but it didn’t quite work.
Kenjutsu:
Hana has a keen Kenjutsu, she doesn’t use it often but when she does you better run for your life, she mixes wind techniques along with it and her blades can cut clean at the distance of 15 meters.
--- Personal traits ---
Personality:
Since Hana’s mother died while giving birth to her, Hana’s dad became really attached to her and spoiled her in many ways possible. Because of that she grew up with that Hime personality of hers. She always acts like she is the confident girl she seems to be, a spoiled princess, but in fact she is a very insecure girl and is always sharpening her skills to never rely on anyone but herself. Her relationship with her team was also bad because of that and since she was left solo often she also grew up and strong. The only exception for the rule is: If she loves you, it’s the complete opposite, she may act cold and sassy at first but if you really grab her heart, she will go through hell and beyond for you but also aware that sometimes her spoiled princess personality will take the lead. She tends to cry a lot when she gets hurt emotionally and she is very hard to cheer up when she is sad.
Good traits: Hana is dominant, a natural leader, she is somewhat confident of her abilities and is very ambitious.
Bad traits: On the other side she has a very short temper, has a sharp mouth, tends to do things on her own, speaks without thinking.
Confidence/Self-esteem: Hana seems a very confident person and values herself above everyone when she is with other people but when she is alone she is too much aware of her many flaws.
Likes:
-foods and drinks: Hot chocolate and croissants
-colors: purple
-favourite animal: Guinea pigs
-what he/she likes to do in his/her free time: Take care of her flowers, walk around and take care of her guinea pigs.
Dislikes:
-foods and drinks: coffee and seafood
-colors: mustard yellow
-less favourite animal: snake
-what he/she doesn’t likes to do in his/her free time: procrastinate
Habits: When she is talking to other people she always seems to drive them away unconsciously and when she is nervous she laughs a lot.
Hobbies: As a hobby, she owns a flower shop that used to belong to her mother
Fears: Being completely alone, snakes, losing her father Insecurities: Hana is insecure when she starts to like someone friendly or romantically due to her harsh personality, she thinks that sometimes she might cross the line making the other party hate her.
Ambition: Her ambition is to be successful in life doing what she loves. Quotes: “I am whatever I want to be”, “If I say something with a serious look, don’t ever doubt that my feelings are true”
--- Relationships ---
Teammates/Ex-teammates: n/a
Relationship status: Taken Significant other: Souta Kobayashi
Best friend: n/a
Rival: Her family besides her father and brother Children: Yui Kobayashi Students: n/a Pets: n/a
Ai Himekawa:
Status: dead Nature of relationship: Mother
Hana never met her mother, she thinks she died when she gave birth to Hana, but the story is a lot more different. Ai died because secretly she was the last one that held the kekkei genkai of their clan who was sure to have ended, her sister planned to steal Hana from her since she was born with the kekkei genkai as well, but Ai didn’t agree to it and died while protecting her baby. When Akira entered the room, it was too late, but he managed to save Hana from Akane’s hands.
Akira Tanaka:
Status: alive Nature of relationship: Father
Hana’s relationship with her father is unbreakable, he would risk everything for her if she had to. She has always been a daddy’s girl, they used to be together all the time and he would give her anything she wished for. He did that mostly to fill in the whole left by his wife’s dad and he was afraid that he would lose Hana. Even if Hana grew up with that bad habit of talking like if she was superior, she never did such a thing with her father, she had a big amount of respect for him.
Tomoe Tanaka:
Status: Alive Nature of relationship: Step Brother
Akira before having Hana, he had a relationship with another woman back in Kirigakure, he fell in love with her and then she tricked him, leaving him and their son alone. Besides all that he found Ai and she immediately accepted Tomoe as a son. When Ai died, Tomoe was still young but he understood it all very well, besides everything he had to care for his precious sister so he left home back to Kirigakure and trained hard so he could protect his family, whenever he came back, Hana felt so happy that she would just cling to him all the time, and when he left back to Kirigakure, she would always cry and try to make him stay. Overall, they were also very close.
Akane Himekawa:
Status: Alive Nature of relationship: Aunt
Akane was Ai’s sister, she had always grown envious of her sister’s ability to have the kekkei genkai. Ai never used it once in her life, she was against it but Akane have always wanted it to achieve fame and fortune. That’s when she found the opportunity of using Hana to achieve that but failed her fist attempt. One day, when Hana was waiting for her dad at the academy, he was late, and her aunt appeared instead and took her, trying to take advantage of it, but her father realized and appeared before anything really bad happened. Hana growing up kept her distance from the Himekawa clan, it was a curse more often than a blessing and as soon she understood what her kekkei genkai was about, she swore to herself never to use it.
Souta Kobayashi:
Status: Alive Nature of relationship: Boyfriend/ Husband
Souta is Hana’s boyfriend and after her husband. First, they didn’t get along with each other since their personalities crashed a lot but soon after they met in very peculiar circumstances, when he practically saved her life, Hana felt quite bit of a spark between them and that was the moment she began to fall in love with him. When she realized she loved him, she honestly had no hope in that relationship, but still, she began wanting to see him more often, even if it was from afar and since the business was going well. Due to the accident in her mission she ended up 6 months in the hospital but as soon as she got out of there she decided to open a shop in Sunagakure. The one who helped her move there surprisingly was also Souta, Hana kept up with that façade personality of her but on the inside, she was very happy to have spent more time with him.
Souta’s visits to Hana always lightened up her mood, even if they sometimes ended up in some healthy arguments. Since Hana thought that relationship had nothing but friendship in it, she ended up giving up on her feelings, only to a few weeks later ended up caught in Souta’s sudden kiss and finally admitting that she loved him. The relationship was mutual. Soon after that their relationship went stable and the façade of them both had ended, and they finally were able to be a happy family.
Haru Misora:
Status: Alive Nature of relationship: Sensei
Haru was an old friend of Akira and Hana’s sensei, he was in charge of Hana since she had a really rough time socializing with other students and all her teams had gone wrong. He understood her above everything and was Hana’s first friend, he was the one who taught her Taijutsu and also helped her develop her signature jutsu. Haru had an important role on Hana’s life because when she had a health crisis, he tried to convince Hana to leave her ninja life, but she didn’t listen to him, that caused her to spend two whole years on the hospital and also for Haru to resign his position as her sensei.
--- Background & history ---
Childhood:
Hana was a very happy child raised by her father. It was only the two of them and they were extremely close. She was spoiled a lot by him and she grew up with the attitude of a very stubborn princess. Soon she met her big brother and they also became very close and they meat the world to her. The lack of female presence didn’t influence her being less feminine, on the contrary, she loved dresses and doing her hair more than anything. Her father gave her the things that belonged to her mother for Hana to follow her steps, due to that, she was constantly under pressure since she felt like her dad was expecting her to become exactly like her mother, other than that, she began her training and her dad often assisted her.
Gennin days:
Hana’s days as a gennin went well overall, she exceeded in her taijutsu and ninjutsu but her ability to resist genjutsu was a mess. But that didn’t stop her from being a good ninja. Everything was well until she was on a mission and she suddenly fell sick, she didn’t know what had caused it and it was not getting better at all, she had to suddenly go back to her village and she stayed in the hospital for about two weeks, they had discovered that Hana had a condition that was weakening her immune system so that prevented her to enjoy her gennin years but without her dad knowing she continued her training, Hana and her Sensei had a huge fight because she was caught training when she needed absolute rest and he refused to be her sensei any longer. That certainly was a shot in Hana’s heart, he was her only friend and now, the only person who understood her was gone.
Chuunin days: Hana’s chuunin days weren’t sweet at all, after she graduated, she began to take more than she could handle, she had this thing of training non-stop and taking every mission she could. In her head, she needed to get stronger and stronger but when she wasn’t with her mind full of those thoughts, she would often think that she wasn’t enough, that she wasn’t making her family proud and that she couldn’t be like her mother like everyone expected her to be. During that time, she had lots of breakdowns and would often shut herself out to the world.
One more thing happened during these days, she met a boy on a mission, a very handsome and charming one and he quickly complimented about her flowers. Surprisingly it was a boy from the Himekawa clan, he kept on and on and finally won the blonde’s heart only to break it into pieces shortly after. After that, Hana shut her heart to everyone who tried to approach her and was practically unreachable. To get away from everything and everyone she took on a long-term mission and came back nearly dead from it, maybe that what she would’ve wanted at that time but Tomoe reached her in time.
War Arc:
Hana didn’t participate in the war, she couldn’t because she was quite in bad shape and her condition had got a hold of her again. Because of that she went to orphanages to help the children and give self-defense lessons to them, besides preferring flowers and animals over humans, she always had a weakness for children, to her, they were like buds who would eventually grow into beautiful flowers.
The Last:
The last is the more complicated part of her life, she does her missions and has a flower shop as a hobby. Due to the flower shop she met Souta but since her rank was upgraded to a jounin she had to go more often on long term missions. One of those missions Souta saved her but still, that mission made Hana’s body fail and for 6 months she couldn’t leave bed or even her hospital room. But her brother stayed with her for the time being since her dad didn’t have that much time to. After she almost fully recovered she moved to Sunagakure, she had lots of time to think and needed something to distract her. Eventually her relationship with the grey haired boy turned out for the best even tough it was a difficult one and the two of them ended up together.
Epilogue/Cheapter 700+:
Hana gets settled, has a baby, gets married, everything is flowers <3
10 tips for growing saffron
Saffron (Crocus sativus) has constantly captivated me, being both delightful and costly, two powerful characteristics. The blooms are intense and wonderful. They fly out of the ground in fall like enchantment, lilac or mauve with darker shading veins. Yet, the genuine centerpiece is the three blazing red marks of shame which convey the 'fragrance of ambrosia'. Kashmiri Kesar brand and blossoms were the image and explanation of riches and the world's costliest zest. They were applauded by artists, the petals stuffed into the pads of the high and grandiose, and saffron water was utilized to aroma dinner corridors. The yellow color was considered the 'flawlessness of excellence' and saffron-yellow shoes were just worn by Persian rulers, divine beings and goddesses, fairies and vestals. Kashmiri Saffron tea was a warming beverage utilized as a stomach related, however customarily saffron is likewise utilized in cakes and buns, paella and rice dishes, in fish soups and stews, for example, the French bouillabaisse, a rich fish dish from Marseilles. Today it will in general component regularly in colorful dishes in up-advertise cafés. Why the publicity? Maybe, similar to me, you have had saffron in a dish and not been dazzled. To be straightforward I couldn't taste anything much at all and put it in a comparative class to whitebait – over-appraised for the cost (sorry to learn you white baiters!). Presently, because of a little home experimentation, I have altered my perspective and I trust you do as well. To the cook's embarrassment, up to this point, we have never delivered any in our nursery. In any case, presently, on account of a liberal peruser (thank you Ian!) and an obliging, great depleted soil, we planted our absolute first saffron corms a year ago. There was extraordinary energy when Ken got an initial couple of blossoms from our own plot and organized them cautiously on paper towels to dry. A couple of petals were a little creepy crawly bitten however who's grumbling? Be that as it may, when I requested that he explore different avenues regarding them he said he needed something more yet and they were very valuable to squander on me! Luckily the cook didn't get the keep going state on that issue. The principal dish that Ken thought of was a heavenly saffron rice serving of mixed greens and it was far superior following a night in the ice chest. In the wake of eating a bowl I felt amazingly eager and ate seconds evidently, saffron is a craving stimulant and helps to process too. Like the Moroccan charge we investigated in the last two issues, the flavor is difficult to put a finger on, portrayed by some as looking like nectar, however, different portrayals incorporate feed like and metallic hints with somewhat severe notes. Since it is a water solvent, an exceptionally little amount in cooking will give an exquisite brilliant yellow, which carries us to Ken's subsequent examination, a dazzling yellow saffron orange cake. This subsequent investigation uses ground almonds rather than flour and is by a wide margin the best sans gluten preparing I have ever tasted, with its additional advantage being beneficial for you. 10 TIPS FOR GROWING SAFFRON 1. Fortunately for us here in Canterbury, we have what saffron likes: winter chill and warm, dry summers. Sorry to learn of you in Auckland and Northland, however, you may be in a tough situation. Research by Crop and Food during the 1990s discovered this Mediterranean local developed well in regions south of the Waikato in the North Island and on the east of the South Island (where we are). Great ices down to - 10°C and periodic snow were no issue for it. 2. Saffron price in India leans towards light, friable soils with a sandy or loamy surface and a high supplement substance, yet the most significant criteria are that the dirt is well-depleted. Corms are frequently developed in raised beds to improve seepage. 3. Saffron is sterile and doesn't set reasonable seed so yields must be developed by corm augmentation. 4. Plants corms in late January or early February for reap in April and May. Spot 10cm separated and 10-15cm profound, ideally in raised beds for expanded seepage. 5. Planting profundities and separations differ economically however more little girl corms are created in shallower plantings. Furnish a free depleting soil with a lot of natural issues. You can side dress them with manure as well however don't try too hard. 6. Contingent upon the size of the mother corm, every corm will be supplanted by 1-10 new cormlets. Every unique corm above 30g will deliver a normal of six new corms in its subsequent year. This expansion in weight every year and develop over the old ones, crawling towards the dirt surface by 1-2 cm every year. Inevitably corms become packed bringing about diminished yields so cultivators normally lift them intermittently, about like clockwork in business plots in Spain. 7. Beds ought to be kept sans weed – on the off chance that you are a lethargic weeder like us, a layer of sawdust assists with weed control. 8. Saffron blooms in its first season, around 40 days in the wake of planting, and proceeds for 30-40 days relying upon climate. The mauve blossoms regularly show up before the leaves, yet may come simultaneously or after. Each plant may blossom for as long as 15 days yet once-blooming beginnings you have to watch out for them, picking blossoms toward the beginning of the prior day they wither. 9. Downpour (or water system) 10-15 days before blossoming brings about high creation; the dry season will cause little blooms and marks of shame. 10. Collect blooms by squeezing off at the base with the fingernail, or with a slight winding development. They are best collected in the first part of the day after the dew has dissipated. In Italy, blossoms are reaped promptly toward the beginning of the day while still shut and the marks of shame are simpler to disengage. It is conceivable – however dubious – to gather the disgrace without picking the blossom. Step by step instructions to HARVEST AND DRY SAFFRON ● Flowers ought to be dried as quickly as time permits subsequent to picking. On the off chance that you can't dry them straight away keep them in shut holders in the cooler. The point is to accomplish about 10% dampness. Drying time will differ with the mugginess, amount of strings, dehydrator model (in case you're utilizing one). With a little household dehydrator, around three hours at 48°C ought to be about right. ● The brightness of shading is helped by snappy, high-temperature drying. With consideration, you can utilize a broiler, as we did. Tests demonstrate that disgrace can be evaporated at 110°C as long as the planning is ideal (at 110°C, only two minutes is required). ● Well-dried saffron ought to be a shiny, dim red shading. On the off chance that you chomp on the string, it ought to have a waxy vibe. Over-drying makes strings weak with a severe persistent flavor. Not dry enough and they will be inclined to spoil. ● Dried marks of disgrace ought to be put away quickly in a water/air proof compartment in obscurity to abstain from dying. IS YOUR SAFFRON GOOD OR BAD? ● Saffron quality relies upon its shading power (crocin content), scent (safranal), and taste (picrocrocin). ● Crocin is the significant shade, a water dissolvable carotenoid that gives saffron its incentive as a yellow-red color. ● Picrocrocin, an unpleasant tasting standard, hydrolyzes on drying to glucose and safranal. The best quality saffron has a high safranal content. ● Good saffron is a crisp, splendid orange shading and scents unequivocally sweet and sharp. It tends to be substituted with comparative shaded herbs, for example, safflower, turmeric, and marigold however it totally changes the flavor. At the point when old it ends up dry and smelly so don't spare it up for a really long time! For what reason IS SAFFRON SO EXPENSIVE? ● Weight for weight, saffron is more significant than gold, making it effectively the world's most costly zest. In a Minoan culture (1900-1600BC) similar loads to gauge gold were utilized to quantify saffron. ● Once you start picking and trying different things with saffron you rapidly observe why it is so expensive. Our first year's collect from two plots yielded not exactly a dessertspoon of marks of shame. ● Each dried shame weighs between 0.3-1g. To make up a kilogram of dried saffron requires the penance of somewhere in the range of 70,000 and 200,000 blooms, contingent upon their quality. Put it another way, a kilogram of blossoms may yield only 12g of marks of shame. ● Yields shift enormously in various developing conditions running from 2-2.5kg per hectare (Morocco) to 29kg per ha in Spain underwater system. Research in NZ (in Clyde) demonstrated yields of 24kg/ha. Step by step instructions to utilize it ● Less is more to an extreme and the harsh taste overwhelms the unobtrusive flavor. ● Just a spot of saffron will shading and flavor 500g of rice. ● Generally, the dried strings are implanted first by adding to warm water, milk or cooking alcohol. They can likewise be disintegrated dry into nourishment.
Want to bloom your terrace or your balcony? Discover our tips to plant in pots. A pretty flowerpot, a well-chosen plant, and your terrace will be highlighted by a nice, colorful and fragrant flowering. Potted planting requires following a few simple rules to ensure healthy plants.
    1. I choose my container
The choice of the container should not be random, or conversely, if you already have your flowerpot, choose a plant that will please. Some varieties of plants need more or less space to grow. In general, it is the type of plant chosen that determines the dimensions of the planter.
  The material of the pot
Different materials exist zinc, iron, terracotta, wood, plastic, concrete, and even fabric. For its major advantages, I advise you to prefer plastic flower pots, they are light, modern, solid, frost-resistant, with various shapes and varied and they often have a reserve of water.
  With or without water reserve?
The water reserve of a flower pot helps prevent rotting of the roots and allows to irrigate the plants regularly and slowly. This is ideal when you go on vacation or if you do not have time to take care of your plants.
  There are two criteria for choosing the right size of your flowerpot: width or diameter and depth. The large pots will be able to accommodate shrubs, a hotpot of several varieties of plants and plants with the falling port. While small pots will be more suitable for annuals, bulbs, and perennials. Again this is only a general rule.
With regard to the depth of the pot, the rule is that the depth must be equal to one-third of the final height of the plant.
   2. I prepare my flowerpot
First of all, you will have to prepare your container. In order for the water to drain properly, drain holes must be created in your flower box. Some models already have some, or some sites are pre-drilled. If this is not the case, even drill the bottom of your pot with several small holes or a large one.
  The draining
Now you need to fill the bottom of your pot with a bed of clay balls, this on 1/5 th of the height of the pot. This drainage is an essential step for the success of your plantation. It prevents the roots from rotting in stagnant water at the bottom of the pot.
If you have a pot with water reserve, it is not mandatory to set up the drainage, because the water reserve can regulate the water contained in the bottom of the pot.
After laying the bed of clay balls, you can install a geotextile felt. It allows to retain the soil during watering, thus avoiding dirtying the terrace, and that the drainage holes are not blocked by the earth.
  The substrate
To plant your plant, choose a good potting soil. There is potting soil specially designed for potted plants. You can also use universal potting mix mixed with garden soil and compost. Some also advise putting some sand.
Now your pot is ready to welcome your plant!
  3. I finish the planting
If you put several varieties of plants, first test them by placing them without planting them. Ideally, the tall plants should be in the center of the pot, the low plants around and the falling plants on the edge.
  You must let the plants breathe, take care to space them 10 to 15 cm when planting.
Start by drenching your plant, for this, soak it for a few minutes in a bucket of water. If necessary, separate the roots.
Place your plant or plants in the pot thus prepared, and put back a layer of the substrate. Tamp and water generously.
  With or without water reserve?
The water reserve of a flower pot helps prevent rotting of the roots and allows to irrigate the plants regularly and slowly. This is ideal when you go on vacation or if you do not have time to take care of your plants.
  There are two criteria for choosing the right size of your flowerpot: width or diameter and depth. The large pots will be able to accommodate shrubs, a hotpot of several varieties of plants and plants with the falling port. While small pots will be more suitable for annuals, bulbs, and perennials. Again this is only a general rule.
With regard to the depth of the pot, the rule is that the depth must be equal to one-third of the final height of the plant.
   2. I prepare my flowerpot
First of all, you will have to prepare your container. In order for the water to drain properly, drain holes must be created in your flower box. Some models already have some, or some sites are pre-drilled. If this is not the case, even drill the bottom of your pot with several small holes or a large one.
  The draining
Now you need to fill the bottom of your pot with a bed of clay balls, this on 1/5 th of the height of the pot. This drainage is an essential step for the success of your plantation. It prevents the roots from rotting in stagnant water at the bottom of the pot.
If you have a pot with water reserve, it is not mandatory to set up the drainage, because the water reserve can regulate the water contained in the bottom of the pot.
After laying the bed of clay balls, you can install a geotextile felt. It allows to retain the soil during watering, thus avoiding dirtying the terrace, and that the drainage holes are not blocked by the earth.
  The substrate
To plant your plant, choose a good potting soil. There is potting soil specially designed for potted plants. You can also use universal potting mix mixed with garden soil and compost. Some also advise putting some sand.
Now your pot is ready to welcome your plant!
  3. I finish the planting
If you put several varieties of plants, first test them by placing them without planting them. Ideally, the tall plants should be in the center of the pot, the low plants around and the falling plants on the edge.
  You must let the plants breathe, take care to space them 10 to 15 cm when planting.
Start by drenching your plant, for this, soak it for a few minutes in a bucket of water. If necessary, separate the roots.
Place your plant or plants in the pot thus prepared, and put back a layer of the substrate. Tamp and water generously.
