Tell Me You Think About Me Too (teaser)

When Steven leaves you in the hotel room to tend to your wounds after a mission whilst he fetches food, the last thing he expects to hear when he returns is the sound of his name coming from the shower. [Steven Grant x F!Reader (hints of Marc Spector x F!Reader) - Friends to lovers, mutual pining, two idiots in love and Marc is so very tired of their shit.]

He was rambling. Stammering on his words like his tongue was too thick for his mouth, choking on the billows of steam he was breathing in as his face flushed with the sickening kind of heat that came with pure mortification and good fucking god, what the hell was he doing still standing there? 

"I’m sorry,” he continued, rooted in place despite every fibre of his being telling him to bolt. It burst out of him almost, jumbled and tumbling, all frantic to make you understand.

“My name- I heard you say my name and I thought… it sounded like you were hurt and I know you like to handle your injuries alone but it sounded bad and I thought you could be bleeding out or dying and I just couldn’t–”

You were wrapping gentle fingers around his wrists before he could talk himself breathless, into an early grave with the way his pulse was hammering beneath flushed skin. Your voice fell even softer, barely rising over the sound of the water that was still pelting against the tiles, as you told him, “Steven, calm down. Look at me, it’s okay.” 

He wanted to resist, unwilling to face the weight of your disappointment, the shame that would only double tenfold when that harsh glare of yours undoubtedly pinned him with it, but he found himself compelled by a featherlight touch at his jaw, the arc of cheek, sweeping the damp curls from his eyes just as they fluttered open. 

Steven gulped as his stare settled on you.

You were closer than he'd expected you to be, now wrapped up in a thread-bare towel that hid only enough skin for you to be considered decent but had him sending a prayer of thanks for to any god that would listen anyway. He didn’t think he’d survive it otherwise, not with the way you were actually looking at him. Touching him. 

He was already having trouble breathing properly, his stomach still flipping from the memory of you, your closeness to him now when your soft moans were still echoing around in his head.

Steven, Steven, Steven.

His heart had yet to return to its normal pace and as it stuttered and beat itself violently against the cage of his ribs, he wondered if it was possible to die from something like this. From the desire and longing trapped and blistering beneath his skin, a wicked hot thing that was trying to burn him from the inside out.

It certainly felt like he could. 

Your expression grew anxious whilst you simply watched one another, gaze troubled and brow knit into a soft frown. Your lip drawn between your teeth in a way that made him have to swallow down the urge gently tug it free with his thumb, to soothe away the rawness with soft touches. An even softer kiss. 

Gods, he was pathetic. 

Even when he was expecting you to be angry at him, for that gentle calmness to drop any second to reveal disgust, he still couldn’t stop himself from thinking about touching you, kissing you. Loving on you. He wanted to shake himself, to rub away the ache in his chest that worsened as your lips parted and he braced himself for you to tell him you couldn’t be around him after this. 

“It’s not you who should be apologising, Steven.” You told him instead, voice tinged with guilt, a hint of embarrassment. Nervous in a way he’d never seen before. And when your eyes dropped briefly to where your hands were still cradling his own you missed the way he blinked at you in stunned confusion. 

“I shouldn’t have been doing that - thinking about you like that - definitely not when you could hear…shit- I’m so fucking sorry you heard it and saw what you did. I get it if you don’t feel comfortable around me and you need a break or something, fuck - is that something you would want? Do you want me to go?” 

Steven didn’t even know what to say. His expression had morphed into something utterly dumbfounded. His brain screeching to a halt at your apology - your confession? 

It was spinning around inside his skull like a carousel, all bright flashing light and the swelling tinkling of fairytale music. Because surely it couldn’t be real right? He’d not really heard what he thought he had, he’d not heard you admitting that you think about him.

Maybe he’d been knocked out during the fight and this was a dream? He almost found it easier to believe.

Except for the fact that in his dreams he didn’t have Marc’s voice in his head - seething with frustration. He wasn’t being yelled at to say something. Say anything. He wasn’t getting stressed out by the irate stream of demands mixing with his own rapidly firing thoughts until they all muddled into something that felt an awful lot like the oncoming of a migraine. 

He wanted to snap at Marc to be quiet for just five bloody seconds but then he was raising his voice again - more worried this time - and it cut crystal clear through the rest of the noise. Sharp enough for Steven to finally understand what the other man had been desperately trying to snap his attention to. 

"Jesus fucking christ Steven, she’s going to leave! She thinks you don’t want her - SAY SOMETHING.”

And Marc was right. You had drawn away from him, dropped your hands from his cheeks and tucked them into your sides, arms crossed over your chest like you were shielding the vulnerable parts of yourself you’d only just worked up the courage to expose. Curling into yourself in the face of what you perceived as rejection. 

He watched in a throat-tight panic as you nodded solemnly and made to squeeze past him, reaching for the door that had swung back closed behind him from the force with which he had thrown it open. 

It was the brush of you against him that startled him back to life - a smack of reality cracking across his bewildered face that told him you were about to walk out of that door, out of their shitty hotel room and straight out his life if he didn’t stop you. 

Steven was whirling around before his mind could even register having told his legs to move. He caught at your wrist with a shaky hand , the touch of it feverish against your skin that had rapidly cooled once outside the heat of the shower - goosebumps rising beneath his fingertips despite the balmy air that swirled around them. 

You turned, fingers still grazing the door handle, and looked at him, wide eyed and apprehensive, unwillingly hopeful, and it was enough to make the muscles in his throat unlock. Words bubbling up and past his lips before he could even consider if they were the right ones. 

“Did you mean it?” He rasped. “ You think of me when you touch yourself?” 

There was silence for a second, maybe two, and by the way you sucked in a breath - lips parting as you stared at him - he suspected the question had been the last thing you expected to be asked. 

It was agony to stand there and wait and Steven tried his best not to let it show, tried not to breathe because every inhale was drenched in you. 

The scent of your shampoo and your body wash and your breath fanning across his lips when he subconsciously leaned closer. The weight of his heart that wasn’t really his anymore, hadn’t been since he met you, sat on his tongue. Ready to topple along with the desperate plea he was fighting to keep clamped behind his teeth. 

Please. Please tell me you think about me too - that you want me just as much as I want you.

And then, “I did,” you whispered, soft and hushed like you were worried if you spoke any louder it would ruin whatever was happening between you, “I do.”

i’m almost wondering if we were supposed to get a moon knight s2 trailer sometime after loki was finished, but because of the actors strike it never got filmed/finished because it is genuinely the only reason i can think of as to why the teaser for loki had the moon knight crumbs, and why the actual show didn’t.

it just seems like a weird thing to change between the teaser and the show unless there was a reason for it? because obviously the nod was to generate hype in the moon knight fandom, but for what? idk idk it just seems like a really weird decision and i’m grasping at straws trying to figure out why that is.

maybe there will be more in the coming episodes that we can grasp at! maybe there will be an actual reason as to why the show changed between that teaser and the final version (because even moon knight changed between its previews and its episodes!) idk. i really don’t know.

now that the whole show is out and i’m reflecting on everything, i’m realizing how big my disappointment is for Mr. Knight i just

you could use the argument that it’s to keep marc and steven seperate visually when either is fronting, which is completely true, but a) steven did NOT need to be a second hero and b) they could have made an original costume instead of using one they’d know would get the comic fans excited and that has a relatively significant character meaning, having always been ambiguous if it’s marc or a seperate alter. Making him steven feels so cheap and it just feels like the writers saw a couple panels of Mr. Knight and thought he was cool but didn’t look further into it

And this week, with all the mentions of the species they exterminated, but especially the Ammonites:

The "bait stars" goes back all the way to when they were still krill, from a life form (stormjoy) on the Fundament that Xivu (then Xi Ro) was proving herself against by cutting off the ends of the tentacles called "bait stars" from them:

A STORMJOY. A stormjoy is a living cloud. When it passes over our continent, it lowers its feeding tentacles. On each tentacle are the BAIT STARS. Although light makes you happy, you must avoid it. You will be eaten. A stormjoy is a good way for an old person to choose death. Also, a daring knight can cut the bait stars from the tentacles. I have six!

It seems this has turned into some sort of a saying in their language given what she said in the radio and also in Books of Sorrow later:

These are the bait stars the Sky uses to blind its slaves.

The story of how the Ammonite hero, Chroma-Admiral (called Rafriit) went to protect the Leviathan:

...is also in the Books of Sorrow:

The Leviathan has broken cover. The old priest is in open space, moving towards the Ammonite home moon. Chroma-Admiral Rafriit and his elite guard move with it. Rafriit is the hero of his generation, an Ammonite of peerless battlecraft. He’s danced circles around Xivu Arath… but now he has to protect his holy Leviathan.

This is, for the record, the Leviathan from the Fundament. Once the Worms were free, it fled to try and help the Ammonite, as well as still pleading with the Hive siblings to think about what they've done, and also ominously asking them to truly think "who made you monsters" and "who summoned the wave."

I'm sure there's more, especially in Sororicide lore book, and/or that there will be more. I feel like this is such a nice way to tell these old stories that many people have probably not have had the chance to read or even know about. It gives just enough details about some ancient wars to make you interested and maybe point you in the direction to ask someone about it or start looking for more and then stumbling on Books of Sorrow. Like a crash course about this ancient history-rich universe that awakens a sense of wonder and maybe interests you into reading some lore.

Unfortunately, Books of Sorrow have never been readable in the game (either of them), but I hope that stuff like this presented in the main storyline for everyone to hear will motivate people to look deeper into the lore. It's basically like a little teaser and I love it. For us who know, it's such an honor to finally hear this being narrated to us by those that committed these acts, and for those that are hearing it for the first time it should spark curiosity about these ancient tales and battles. I hope so at least! If you haven't already, I highly recommend reading the whole Books of Sorrow which are up on Ishtar in their entirety.

In regards to the announcement of the new run - this? This sounds an awful lot like the teaser description of the "new" Moon Knight.

I don't think we're done with the guys yet. I don't think MacKay is done with them yet. I think we're going to see exactly what a botched resurrection looks like and all the folks Marc has built relationships with are going to have to try and fix it.

And if I'm wrong, this run has been excellent and I trust MacKay enough that I'll continue reading to see where he's going.

The MCU trying to promote Sylki ship honestly feels like a desperate move at this point as to not admit that no one really cares about the character

Now follow me on this. It seems to me that the actual comics not only couldn't care less about Sylvie as a character. Taking a look at the impact that the MCU has on comics the lack of Syvle is notable. For example Shang Chi has been given the equivalent of the ten rings, his mother has been incorporated in comics, Lyla from moon Knight has been incorporated in comics, Darcy Lewis debuts in scarlet witch comics and there's that whole thing with Kamala being a mutant now. But Sylvie the character who the show revolves around who gets a Funko of the falling in love moment, nothing.

It's not like elements haven't made their way into comic either, they have. They love the alligator he got his own gag comic. And there's that avengers exiles comic with Loki needing to protect the multiverse. But again no Sylvie the character the creators clearly wanted to be a break out star

Like, marvel is pushing the ship but not the character herself. Like most of the teasers and promotions left her out and focused on the TVA. It really seems like they are not interested in her as a character on her own

You're completely right and to add to that, remember when Sophia said they basically improvised the whole Sylvie story during filming? It seems Marvel wasn't really interested in her from the get-go, she's no more than the perfect excuse to get their point across that Loki is a buffoon and inferior to her, but when it comes to really giving her depth and a background they couldn't care less. Hell, in that post-credit scene in Quantumania she was nowhere to be seen, they had Loki and Mobius there.

It's kind of ironic that they wrote her as this woman who tries to run away from anything Loki-related but she so desperately needs to be linked to him otherwise she's completely empty. She keeps the suit, she has the magic, and every time they want to show her somewhere it's with Loki by her side. Some claim this is out of misogyny but like you mentioned earlier, Layla is in the comics and she doesn't need Marc beside her or for him to define her because she's a well-written character with her own personality, story and capabilities.

Even the romance itself only has the purpose of placing Sylvie on a pedestal while throwing Loki under the bus. Her entire existence is based on the fact that she's superior to him: take Loki out of the equation and she's nothing. But this is not misogyny, she was literally written this way!

Jing Yuan in the Sedition - New Proof!

So, most people know that we have basically no idea what Jing Yuan was actually doing during the sedition. Blade has this one ominous voice line about him that reads:

He always... He always understood the price better than any of us, yet he never spoke up — never did anything!

What this means we don't know yet but I found some evidence that Jing Yuan was actually there.

I was re-watching the Jingliu vs Blade fight cinematic and noticed a section that flickers by really quickly.

Basically, it shows these images:

This pic is important because:

It shows Dan Feng's cloudpiercer spear, the broken sword wielded by Jingliu and later by Blade, and Jing Yuan's weapon

The sword being broken at this point tells us it is during the sedition at the earliest

The presence of the sword graveyard, the burned trees, and the mountains also indicates the location of the sedition after the drama

This implies that Jing Yuan was at the sedition event when it was happening! (This is not the fight with Shuhu because the mountains are not the border that Shuhu was attacking btw)

Not sure what resulted in all of them having to leave their weapons behind

So I've included two pictures because the initial assumption is that this must be the scene where Jingliu fought Jing Yuan after she became marastruck but it is not! The surrounding locations are totally different, the new pic has the flags and mountains in the background. It is this location:

This is also after Jing Yuan became the general and acquired Lightning Lord from Tengxiao which was close to the sedition because we know from letters that Dan Feng was his very first case.

We know from this livestream that Jingliu did not become marastruck until after the 10 Lord took her away, which was about 1 year after the sedition. 14:09 is the relevant timestamp.

And we also know from the myriad that Jingliu was leading the cloud knights after she got her magic ice sword during her fight with the abomination:

So yeah...

Since they snuck these frames in on like 0.1 second flickers they're definitely intended to be teasers that Jing Yuan was infact there and that he found Jingliu after she defeated the abomination.

I only noticed them because I'm autistic enough to watch all of the cinematics on the slowest speeds possible lmao.

And also Jing Yuan's fansong contains a picture of Jing Yuan summoning Lightning Lord at the mountains. (This fansong is by the company everyone thinks Hoyo commissioned because of their weird accuracy - infact Hoyo apparently recently added their songs to their spotify playlist or something so it's more or less guaranteed at this point. You can watch all their videos on their bilibili.)

So yeah I don't really know what to do with all this information at the moment. I think it could explain why Jingliu is targeting Jing Yuan in her trailer, though.

It does place this scene as probably during the sedition, especially with the gushing red moon and the flames.

Jing Yuan probably stepped in and stopped her from going a bit too far because she does, of course, need to spend some time post-sedition still a member of the cloud knights before she gets taken by the 10 lords.

i feel a lil bad asking this right when a lot of people are excited for hostile takeover, but for financial reasons, i might need to start putting some of my energy into more serious original projects again.

i'm not pausing HT — i don't think i could stop thinking about those lezbots if i tried — but being able to take breaks to work on other things tends to be good for my energy levels in general.

and honestly, when i first started, i thought HT itself was just going to be a quick break from those projects, and now i'm four months in and my plans keep growing >.>

anyway, the purpose of this post is that i wanted to gauge interest. i know most people follow me for murder drones stuff, but do any of the original stories i'm considering interest you?

more detailed pitches for each of these can be found under the cut. honesty is appreciated.

a note before i pitch them — when i write original fiction, i post it to my site and a site for original fiction called royalroad. i'll probably reserve my ao3 account for, yknow, fanfiction.

the plan is that while the stories will eventually be available publically, supporters to my patreon will get to read several chapters ahead of everyone else.

Aurora Moonrise

It is the nature of comets to dazzle and destroy. These eldritch spirits from beyond the stars grind kingdoms to dust with joyful ease. Only the power of a daughter of the moon can repel them. There are none left. Aurora knows she is different. Her father is a plain man, and her mother is a mystery. Her prismatic hair, her divergent mind, her inability to weave common enchantments — it must come from her mother's side. But her mother is gone and no one will say why or where or anything. It's enough to make her want to fight someone. And Aurora fights — people, animals, spirits, it doesn't matter. She doesn't want to hurt them, but it's thrilling. She'll just have to become a knight — knights get to fight things, right? And knights get answers to who their parents were. When a cursed storm leaves Aurora glowing in the light of the full moon, she awakens new powers she can't control. Powers unheard of, except in those old stories. But the word on the lips of churchmen is witchcraft — communion with unnatural spirits that spells doom. Will she defend humanity? Or is she a threat to it?

pitching this one is hard, because the most interesting thing about is a twist reveal at the end of the first arc. at first, you can see it's framed to suggest — and Aurora initially believes — her mother is a "daughter of the moon", but of course, she's actually a comet.

as the poll option suggests, her inhuman heritage makes urges her to fight and hinders her ability to understand the basics of human social interaction.

this would be a long story, lighter in tone than the others, and structured like a fantasy trilogy, about Aurora journeying across the land doing what she thinks heroes do. along the way, she picks up several party members with their own weird baggage. all of them girls, of course, and it gets very gay by the end — but it's slow going because, yknow, aurora doesn't understand romance, either.

i'm very excited about this project — just thinking about it is enough to get me bouncing. you can actually read a four chapter teaser right now, and i have over 70k words of notes past that, with the whole thing outlined start to finish.

Thy Wretched Mask

Everyone wants to peel off their skin and scream into the night. You're just supposed to keep a handle on that. Beca's trying. Now on the run, she'll just have to get it right in a new town. She's got nothing to her name save a pet raven, but a little pickpocketing will change that. Maybe a burglary or two. As long as she doesn't tear someone's flesh apart in broad daylight, she could keep things controlled. It's a lonely life, but friendship is only temptation. She should just keep to herself. So why does she listen when the woman from the shadows talks? They're making an offer that could lift her off the streets for good. The catch? She has to kill someone. Again. That's definitely too much temptation.

once again, the most interesting parts of this are a surprise. Beca isn't human; she's saddled predatory instincts she doesn't understand. the "fungal possession" comes into play several chapters in. it gets intense enough that i believe it's one of the few times i've teared up while writing something, and it's so far the first and only time i've written something that explores topics of plurality, which is pretty personal to us

i say HT is the first time i've written romance (and it is), but TWM came close, and would have gotten even closer if i continued it.

i've already written over 20k words of this (unpublished), but due to the writing exercise it began as, it requires substantial rewrites; i cringe when i try to reread it, and it honestly makes the prospect of returning a bit unexciting.

this would probably only about the length of a novel. (original projection was novella length, but i think i want to flesh it out more.)

of all of my potential projects, i think this one is probably the biggest thematic overlap with Hostile Takeover. but uh, it's dark enough to make that look like a sappy romance >.<

Running Out of Skin & Time

Tomorrow, a lord will be flayed alive. Once his flesh, freely given, is woven into a vast frame, enchanted scars will turn him into a living portal, a gift that could turn a blightstricken town into a bustling trade nexus. Apnoe has woken up beside the same dead girl three nights in a row. The lord's flaying is tomorrow — same as it was for the last three nights. She's the only one who's noticed. Assassins lurk in the flaying festival's crowds, and when they strike the lord dead, the whole town watches their dreams crumble, and then Apnoe wakes again as if from a dream. She knew this quite well; on the first night, she had killed him. Scarred flesh grants magic. How deep a wound did it take to make every living soul in the city relive the same day? It wasn't Apnoe's, and she doesn't know why only she remembers, but then again, most scar magic treats her differently. After all, she's dead half the time. Apnoe would kill to end this nightmare — but it seems the only way out is saving a man who'll die tomorrow anyway.

of all the options, this story is the least well flesh out (no pun intended), but it has a lot of potential. a "time loop" where a character relives the same day over and over is something not enough stories explore well

(if it means anything to you, the inspiration for this fic was literally just thinking "what if the Shibuya Incident was a time loop?")

i call this "superhero fantasy" because, while i havent figured out the tech level (it's industrial, but how modern?), the magic system gives everyone unique and specific abilities that are easiest to imagine as superpowers.

the time loop effect itself is the rube goldberg interaction of half a dozen powers, and part of the fic is puzzling out just how it works, as well as puzzling out how to overcome the various powers arrayed against the lord.

it would be a very complex, cerebral fic, all about power progression and fight scenes, but at its heart, i want it to be the story of two dead girls who love each other enough to unravel fate itself

A Chimerical Hope

Duskroot is destroyed. A minor stronghold, its enemies were cunning and coordinated and its allies didn't lift a hand. As vultures at a corpse, mercenaries hunt for survivors. Awelah escaped Duskroot. She lost everything. Vengeance drives her, but can she kill a angel beyond death? Ooliri's mission is to aid the refugees. He has to prove he belongs in a family of medical geniuses. But healing isn't enough — can he bring the dead back to life? Makuja seeks safety among the refugees. Death and servitude leaves her gaze empty. It's easy to be a follower, but is there a purpose worth living for? First, the three need answers. A grand scheme is unfolding, and Duskroot was only the first step.

unlike all of the others, this isn't an idea for a story, or a plan for a story, it is a story, one i've written 100k words for. you can read it here

it's set in an expansive setting i've spent literal years thinking about with giant insects empowered by virulent mutant bat blood and cold black corruption pouring out from a hole in the sky.

it's also, shamelessly, only avoids being called naruto fanfiction by dint of sheer weirdness

Aurora Moonrise may be the story i'm most excited about, but ACH is the one with the most ambition and purpose behind it. if i could only ever tell one story in my life, it'd probably make it ACH. it might be over a million words if i ever finish it

but i also think it's probably too weird to get very popular.

And so on

if you can't tell already, i have a LOT of story ideas. before i ever watched murder drones, would you believe i was literally already working on a story about killer lesbian robots on a inhospitable frozen planet haunted by a creeping cosmic horror?

and i'm kind of tempted to work on a story about modular mushroom creatures that live underground. or a fricken pokemon mystery dungeon self-insert i've already finished one chapter of.

and of course, i have several other stories i could continue working on.

but like, the stories i've listed are the ones i can honestly say i might work on right now. and, practically speaking, the stories that might genuinely takeoff, if i dare hope.

New Helluva Boss teaser and its given me a prediction for what I think will happen in the next episode, which I personally hope comes out near the end of this month.

A hungover Stolas will perform his usual full moon duties on Earth, but his sickened state, issues with Blitzo (who he ran into earlier to get his book back), and him seeing what looks like DHORKS capturing Loona, makes him fall into a trap they placed and he gets captured...again. I could then see the agents somehow making Stolas their familiar, what you call a supernatural being that serves a human.

This will lead to Blitzo (he snuck to Earth) to save Stolas on his own and making Stolas' "knight in shining armor" fantasy wish come true while they also work together to delete all the info DHORKS has on them, embarrassing the agents in the process. The episode will end with Blitzo and Stolas deciding to try dating but take it REALLY slow.

Honestly the only thing I would like to see come from such a story is a twist where its revealed the agents unknowingly had supernatural help to do all of this. While I have brought up the idea of the Cherubs teaming up wiht DHORKS, I personally think it should be Andrealphus and Stella, but mostly Andrealphus, who secretly helped the agents by leaving info on how to capture demons and where Stolas goes to do his duties.

Like I've said in previous posts, I can see Andrealphus having big plans of his own in the series to a point he should be the main antagonist of Helluva Boss, and him getting a recording of Stolas being captured by humans and serving them would be great for when Stolas' crimes are brought to light and he uses it (among other evidence) to make Stolas lose his royal status so that he can take over the royal position after getting Stella to also lose her royal status.
