#morro redemption arc would be fun

I may or may not have made an entire AU surrounding Morro and a resurrection/redemption arc because let's be real Ninjago fans, Morro deserves it. The writers did him so fucking dirty.
I will eventually maybe be writing a fanfiction about this, but if anyone wants the rundown of my AU - most of the events pre-season 5 don't change, just get strung together a little better to make the plot flow more coherently. (Ie, the Ninja feeling creeped out in the Caves of Despair - the place where Morro died initially.)
Resurrection: It is around Day of the Departed when he is resurrected, though the Ninja don't find out he's alive until I want to say season 7. The Ninja think they see him in the distance but brush it off. There's no way, pfft, Morro is dead. The Cursed Realm is gone. Right? WRONG.
Redemption: While trying to figure out stuff about Krux and Acronix, not only do the Ninja find out that Morro has been alive, but that Morro has spent his new life living it the way he would have if Wu had never found him. He has a job and an apartment, he doesn't want to be a ninja. After everything Wu put him through... he just wants to be happy. He wants to live the life he never got to live. He doesn't care about being the Green Ninja anymore.
UNFORTUNATELY, the Ninja need as much help as they can to take down Krux and Acronix and are forced to try and get Morro's help. While there is a very VERY rocky start between the Ninja and Morro, they will eventually grow to trust them (Cole takes the longest surprisingly. It isn't until season 8/9 that he BEGINS to trust Morro)
Bass?: "But Tri where does this bass thing come from?"
Oh yeah either in Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu or VERY early Prime Empire - Jay and Cole accidentally introduce Morro to music and musical instruments. Morro falls in love with playing the bass and by the time of mid-Prime Empire, he's damn well near a pro at it to the point I already have a minigame planned for Morro to show off his skills with.
Souta?: It means "Sudden, sound of the wind" and "thick, big, great". It's a Japanese surname. Morro gave it to himself because he felt weird about the fact that everyone had surnames but himself. (And also he probably needed one for his job.)
Ghost Blade?: He may not be dead anymore, but because he WAS dead for so long, a lot of his energy is still connected to being dead, so bam. He can manifest a PHYSICAL ghost weapon. Might be a little OP, I don't care.
Also explains his gi, there are some changes to it BUT he remains very attached to his dead gi design + all gi designs I come up with for the different seasons will be based on his Possession gi. (the ninjargon letter M where his weird animal brooch used to be (which he wears on his shawl instead) pants/sleeves cutting off halfway down his calves/arms!)
Lloyd: Morro and Lloyd grow to see each other as brothers. Morro, having been in Lloyd's body and mind has a deeper understanding of him than anyone else could. Morro becomes VERY protective over Lloyd and due to this his relationship with Kai is one of the first ones he forms. Morro hates Wu and Misako (and S8+ Garmadon) for the way they've treated this boy. Morro isn't afraid to argue with Wu on certain things regarding Lloyd. Morro becomes the big brother to Lloyd whom he always wanted in his own life.
Islands, Seabound, and Crystallized: Oh boy, this will be fun because technically all three of these COULD have been connected to Morro (Islands and Seabound DEF were and Crystallized SHOULD HAVE BEEN). Anyways, I kill off Morro at some point in either Master of the Mountain (which I would LOVE to do the most because Cole at this point is one of the closest Ninja to Morro and it would HURT HIM SO FUCKING BAD, and be more of a driving force for his character arc), Islands, or Seabound to make it easy on myself plot-wise BUT he gets resurrected by Harumi in Crystallized because this dumb bitch thinks that just because he used to be a villain means she can convince him to become a villain again. Morro becomes a double spy.
Euphrasia?: Her element in the show is white. Morro's is green. She's not the new Elemental Master of Wind, she's the fucking Elemental Master of AIR and I will stick by that. Even canonically, I refuse to acknowledge it. If I get far enough as writing for Dragons Rising, I will definitely give Euphrasia and Morro a sibling dynamic.
Anyways! Yeah! This is but a preview of what my Resdemption-AU has to offer. If anyone wants to hear more about it, I could talk about it for FUCKING hours.
Oh!!! And I want to give credit to @sunfloraas because I took A LOT of inspiration from her Morro design because it's that good!!!

*breaks through the window* HARUMI
HIIII NAGASTHIA. im so glad we r mutuals u r so cool actually and all your posts r awesome same w/ ur art. ur the bomb 💣
HER SONGS ARE SO COOL. i love how her song starts out as a pretty, romantic, cheery song, but then it slowly becomes more twisted. HARUMIS DESPAIR HAS ME ON MY KNNEEESS!!! MY KNEES MAN!!!!! ITS THE SAME SONG BUT SO UTTERLY TWISTED ITS BEYOND RECOGNITION!!!!!!! UUUUGGGGHHHHHH I LOVE HER THEME I LOVE NINJAGO MUSIC!!!!! i love her whole vibe actually but. having this cliche princess lady in distress turn around and start SINGING THE CREEPIEST LULLABY ABOUT SPIDERS IN YOUR MOUTH???EEEWWWWW TOE CURLING I LOVE IT
her redemption arc in crystalized is really poorly done :( i would have preferred if she admitted she NEVER liked lloyd, then she betrayed the overlord for selfish reasons and went to like reform the sons of garmadon or smth. + the fact that the new series doesnt even have her SHOW UP is just wild to me. LET HER BE EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"i needed enough players for my villianous volleyball team" "...are you serious-" "OF COURSE IM NOT SERIOUS." i love their dynamic theyre so hilarious
morro would be a REALLY FUN villian team up- but if its an au where she gets a redemption arc nya would be really fun to see too.
....no
Llorumi doesn't work for me b/c. like. idk im not a fan of lloyd ships in general + they give off more sibling energy to me then anything.
sort of a dramatic ✨💅🏻 one but. i like to think that Harumi's facepaint/maekup when shes the Jade Princess and the Quiet One are like masks for her. and when she wasn't wearing the makeup around lloyd, that was like, her real genuine non-evil self emerging. Like, if they'd stayed like that for a little longer, she might have had doubts about her plan.
I DONT LIKE DISASTER COUSIN DYNAMICS IM SORRY. i like all the duos seperate but AS A TRIO??? IM SORRY, I CANT. ive tried to read stories where its all three of them and. i literally just can't. harumi and morro are so EDGY and there is NOT ENOUGH LLOYD TO BALANCE IT OUT LMMAAAOOO
i have a playlist..... https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5naIVVrLtwCfe9hGpzNLiv?si=d7334ff29ce64c25 :3

Hi there! I noticed your new post and I’d like to say hi!
I love your designs and I’m so excited for the au you mentioned!
Hope to see you around!
eheheh thank you so much!! hi right back to you :)
I suppose while I'm here I'll talk a liiiittle bit about the au but the fact that people have showed interest is a little boggling to me lol!! this was a personal funny private project for so long and i was too shy to share it anywhere at all
anyway there's no specific premise to the au so i can't come up with any sort of snappy name or tagline for it, but it's a very self indulgent thing for me where it's just...... all the things i would do if i could rewrite the show lmao. some of the highlights include:
some large structural lore changes about the realms and elements
all of the ninja are in college except for lloyd who is in like, 6th grade (until child's play)
gay people are finally real😔my dreams are coming true
(mainly glacier and plasma and samurai because those are my favorites)
kai nearly dies like four times in one day in season 1
morro is There for a bit longer than normal (and depressed)
harumi redemption arc
i give more character development to the time twins
anyway a fun fact about this au, it was 4pm one day and i sat down at my computer to do work and then i blacked out, and when i finally zoned back in 4 hours had passed and i'd written 15 pages about this au. true story. i wish i was lying

Hello gang. Me and the discord pals were vibin when we got a very good idea involving Morro being a bird cuz we thought it’d be funny.
So basically, the story goes that after the destruction of the Cursed Realm, all the souls went to the Departed Realm. However, this really wasn’t even supposed to happen, and the Departed Realm started to become a bit unstable with all the corrupt souls running about without any kind of hamper. So, as a solution, many of the cursed realm souls were reincarnated instead.
Normally, evil souls were reincarnated with a clean slate, no memories of their past lives. However, since Morro had sort of changed/redeemed himself, he ended up getting reincarnated with all his memories. Only problem? He got reincarnated as a bird.
Now, this wouldn’t be as bad, if it weren’t for the fact he gets unknowingly adopted by the ninja, specifically for Lloyd. None of them are aware the bird is Morro. This action makes Morro very unhappy, as he is no one’s pet, and he decides to be as much of a problem as possible until he can figure out what he’s supposed to do about his new body situation.
I thought it would be fun if Morro gets his own redemption arc as a bird. Through being forced to spend time with the ninja, especially Lloyd (He is initially very grumpy about having to tolerate the brat’s pressence) and having all the time in the world to think about his actions.

Why Amon Should Have Been An Android
(spoilers for LoK and Young Justice season 1)
If you followed my LoK liveblog at all you may have noticed that I theorized at one point or another that all four major villains of LoK (Amon, Unalaq, Zaheer, and Kuvira) were secretly robots/androids (the term I used was robot, but the more accurate term would have been android.) Now, with Unalaq it was definitely just because I found him boring, with Zaheer it was to make fun of the fact that he was an Airbending prodigy with zero training, and with Kuvira it was because it was a thing at that point for me to predict that an LoK villain was a robot (and I was kind of right that time!!)
But with Amon? I was completely serious. We never see his face, his cause is stupid (and the perfect way for his programmers to start some trouble in Republic City), and he was able to resist bloodbending, which, if you’ll recall, requires that the victim have blood for it to work. You know who doesn’t have blood? That’s right, androids/robots.
But there’s another reason that I sincerely thought Amon was going to be a robot (android), and it’s the reason I’m writing this. There was something naggingly familiar about LoK to me, and no, it wasn’t that it was a sequel series to ATLA. To me, LoK doesn’t really feel a lot like ATLA (barring, of course, the very poorly shoehorned in fanservice cameos of Iroh, three times, like he’s a recurring character or something.) I struggled to pinpoint exactly what it was, but in my own observations and the observations of other people that I was talking to while liveblogging, a couple key differences became clear:
Tumblr media
[ID: an image of Korra from the back looking out towards Republic City, which is shown to have large white skyscrapers, a bay, and numerous smaller buildings. Much of it is obscured by fog and clouds. The city is built in the middle of a sprawling bay. /End ID]
1. the setting of LoK is incredibly Americanized and Eurocentric. While ATLA displays a lot of cultural insensitivity towards the cultures it borrows from in choosing how to depict them, LoK...doesn’t really depict other cultures. Republic City to me felt very similar to how 1920s New York is typically depicted in media, and no setting in the Earth Kingdom or Water Tribe was explored enough to really explore the unique cultures of those settings. While you can tell in ATLA that bryke was somewhat interested in (a vague, exoticized, unrealistic vision of) East Asian culture, LoK is very clearly inspired by America and Europe, with very little else influencing how the setting was depicted.
2. there are no “unimportant” people in LoK. Everybody is related to somebody we know from ATLA (or somebody from ATLA), a powerful business mogul, military, somebody high up in the government, a celebrity, and/or the Avatar. The only character I can really think of that’s an exception to this is Kai, who really does not have much of a role. (I guess you could argue that Mako is an exception but y’know...he was a famous pro-bender for a while there) You don’t just get to meet a regular person living in a village anymore. Every character in LoK has political, social, or cultural power.
These points, put together with the technological prowess of the world of LoK (which is different season to season and sometimes even episode to episode depending on how the writers are feeling that day), made the show feel very distant from ATLA, but very, very close to another show that I have watched and loved. And that show is Young Justice.
Tumblr media
[ID: an image, from left to right, of Batgirl, Blue Beetle, Bumblebee, Beast Boy, Miss Martian, Nightwing, Superboy, Wondergirl, Robin, and Red Arrow in the foreground, posing together. Above them and in the background are the adult heroes, obscured in shadow. From left to right, Red Tornado, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Batman, Superman, the Flash, Green Arrow, and Wonder Woman. They are all against a gradient blue background. /End ID]
For those not in the know, Young Justice is a DC animated cartoon focusing on the teen sidekicks, proteges, and relatives of superheroes like Batman, Superman the Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and others banding together to form their own superhero team. YJ is set in America, vaguely, with characters residing in cities with names like Gotham City, Star City, and Central City (a naming convention that Republic City fits right into). And as is apparent from the premise, most of the characters you’ll meet in YJ are superheroes, related to superheroes, or otherwise important business moguls, celebrities, or political figures. And while the world of YJ is of course significantly more technologically advanced than that of LoK, there’s more overlap than you’d think. Besides spaceships, teleportation, smartphones, and genetic engineering, there’s really not a lot of tech that YJ seasons 1 and 2 have that LoK doesn’t.
So you may be thinking, “ok Arthur, we get it, you’re a fucking nerd, what does this have to do with robots?” I’m glad you asked! One of the storylines of YJ focuses on the war between rival tech moguls Tio Morro and Professor Ivo, in which they build increasingly sophisticated androids. Ivo’s are pretty much just designed to kill supers, but Morro’s are expressly designed to mirror the human psyche, and desire to be a part of human society. Amon very clearly also desires a community, and does much of what he does to integrate himself into a community of nonbenders where he really doesn’t belong. Further, Morro’s androids are immune to threats that humans are not immune to because they are not made up of organic matter. For example, in season 1, episode 3, Miss Martian attempts to read Red Tornado’s mind, to no avail, because she can only read the minds of organic beings. In a similar vein, Amon was able to resist bloodbending, and while unfortunately that was not because he was an android, it would have made sense given the conventions of the cartoon android genre. I didn’t realize it at the time, but my previous YJ knowledge very much influenced the way I read that scene. The way Amon’s body was animated very much mirrored the animation of Morro’s androids trying to resist their evil creator’s programming.
So, I’ve taken you through the what, the how, but I promised that I’d say why Amon being an android would have been better, and I plan to deliver. First, it needs be remarked that while Amon being an android wouldn’t have made much sense, it would have only made slightly less sense than the canon explanation of Amon being Tarrlok’s secret brother. In fact, I’d argue that, if handled correctly, Amon being an android could make more sense and be more impactful. Here’s how I envision it: android! Amon would be pretty similar to Red Tornado, in that he would know that he was an android and be programmed to help people. He was of course, built by Hiroshi Sato (that man designed and likely built all the Equalists’ weapons he has the range), who sees himself as a sort of father to Amon. Hiroshi tells Amon about the systemic disenfranchisement of nonbenders and how a Firebender killed his wife, and Amon, being programmed to want to help people and to desire participation in human society, decides he wants to lead a revolution against benders. However, an android can’t very well openly lead a revolution (you could add a bit in the backstory episodes about how humans don’t trust androids or something), so Hiroshi and Amon come up with the story that Firebenders burned his face and hands, which is what prompted him to lead the revolution. Thus, his whole body, including his face, is covered, and his followers assume that it’s because the burns are so bad, and they follow him. In the latter half of the season, the krew would uncover Hiroshi’s involvement with the Equalists, but Asami would be the one to realize that Amon is an android that Hiroshi built. Amon being Hiroshi’s “son” of sorts would be another element of Asami coming to terms with the evils of her family, as Amon in this case would be a machine programmed to be easily manipulated to follow Hiroshi’s cause and would consider himself her brother, and she would have to reckon what to do with both of them. The nonbenders’ cause would still be legitimate after Amon was exposed as an android (unlike it is when the literal figurehead of their movement is also antithetical to their movement) and the heroes would have to reckon with the realities of bender supremacy and the hurt it caused. Amon could even get a redemption arc and work with world leaders to make a better society for nonbenders and androids like himself (I’m sure there’s some parallel you can draw between nonbender oppression and android oppression, though I can’t think of one atm) As an added bonus, Amon wouldn’t be able to bend, so he couldn’t bloodbend Korra, which would be one less time that an LoK villain took away Korra’s bodily autonomy. Amon could even be a recurring character in the later books, because really, wouldn’t LoK have been more fun with a newly-redeemed android sidekick still learning about what the world is outside of his creator’s narrow worldview? Plus, that would give Asami more to do in books 2 and 3 than meet Varrick and participate in love triangle drama (Amon is of course replacing Varrick’s presence on the show), and getting to know and bond with Amon could be the catalyst for her visiting her father in prison in book 4.
Remember, I didn’t claim that this would be good, I claimed that it would be better, and since the bar was on the ground with that secret brothers twist that wasn’t too hard to accomplish. tl;dr bryke are cowards, take the plunge and make him an android.

Arr, me mateys! I may have work to do in the day, but I consider myself a wee fast crewman! They even ran out of work to give me so I finished the day with long hours to spare. And since I got the time, ye bet I decided to use it to explore new depths of Ninjago with Skybound!
Okay, I won’t do that for the whole post. But honestly, I thought Skybound was...decent, but does have some drawbacks from how ambitious it was. Let’s just go through it.
-Jay...hmm. Two minds about him. His arc at the start of the season (lasting about halfway) was clearly intentional and setup for his later redemption, and his character after that point is the best kind of Jay. And the reason for said start of season funk does make sense (unlike Home). On the other hand, yeah, the first half is pretty much Jay at his worst with bits sprinkled in to remind you that they still remember his good side. It’s not like giving him that sort of flaw is bad, but it pretty much dominated his entire character for that duration so at some point you just want to punch the little git. Also his parent arc is a bit undercooked, but he’s got plenty elsewhere so that doesn’t really bother me, especially when Ed and Edna ultimately get to have the crucial pep talk.  -Nya has a similar problem to be honest, although part of hers was also fabricated by Dareth being an absolute dick at the start (despite his moment in season 4). After that, it was fine for her up until she starts the whole fucking thing by being stubborn in such a perilous situation. And then halfway through they calm it down and make her realise she’s taken it somewhat overboard. Once that halfway point crosses it’s a lot easier to get behind the both of them, but mileage may vary on how much you can stand before then. I did like the lunchtime scene though.  -Zane doesn’t get much this season, but I did like his sass, it was a good check. Otherwise, not much happening with him aside from one scene that people immortalise due to how out of character it was for him, but since that has zero consequences I just brush that off as a one time gag. Pixal had like two scenes but they were both great scenes for her.  -Lloyd had more going for him this seasons than prior ones at least (even Possession), but he was still on the more bland side. I think every character got an attitude increase in this season though. Seriously, even the one-scene characters. But let me tell you; Lloyd Garmadon is no Rex Fury, that’s for sure.  -Cole and Kai...I think were on some substance or other during this arc, at least at the start. -Kai has Project Arcturus’ issue of playing his vain side up to the point where it’s actively jeopardising the mission (and actually could be considered as much responsible for starting the whole thing as Nya), but at least this time they reign it in to turn it into something of a clever tactic. And of course this is all absent when he’s freed from the Sword of Souls because Kai typically gets characterised into two modes at this point in the show. -Cole has a similar thing. I mean, eating tools...what? It’s mostly comedic and not that detrimental to begin with (aside from him straight up ditching Jay at the theme park. Not out of spite or anything, just because the plot wanted an extra minute I guess). Then Kai gets trapped and suddenly his character is all about being Jay’s best friend, which in of itself is fine until it again gets way heavy-handed about it. I’m assuming that the writers just wanted any potential remnants of Cole and Nya as a pair to just die (hence why he has no reaction to Jay revealing things about the caves despite Jay’s worry over it, and why this is the season he starts really taking potshots at Nya), but surely Versus was enough on its own combined with Jay and Nya’s arc in this season? Plus the ghost thing is almost entirely wasted this season, only serving a point where his invisibility comes into play (oh, and I guess a threat when he walks the plank).  -Despite the much bigger cast of characters, they don’t really get to do that much. The standouts are easily Soto (who’s just funny throughout), Dareth (who despite having a really bad start with being a misogynist for no reason, gets much better when he comes in second time) and Ronin (who I guess was still a writer darling at this point). Anyone else? You might get a moment for some of them (mainly Misako and Echo Zane), but eh. It’s a shame because Jay set up the ninja replacements like it would be this shining moment for them, but not really, and they just end up as fight fodder. And being a gag for hating Jay for being annoying despite him not doing anything to at least a couple of them. Also because of my other LEGO interests, every time I see Ronin whistle for the R.E.X, I expect the Rexcelsior to just come down and crush everything. That would have been a bad time for Kai and Nya.  -One thing I didn't mention in Possession is how the villain and lackey dynamics are developing into something actually worth investing in (beyond the tension between Pythor and Skales), and Skybound takes it even further. This is the first season where the villains are just as investing as the heroes, and I like how its a slow burn from Nadakhan and his crew having comradery, to Flintlocke slowly realising that Jay was telling the truth, to him and Dogshanks playing key roles in the final confrontation. -Speaking of which, Nadakhan was an interesting villain. I don’t like him as much as Morro, but he’s still got plenty to him. What I find most interesting is how the Jay seasons like to play parallels with the villains, what with Nadakhan being a reflection of Jay’s romance thing and Jay using his abandonment to find a way to connect to Unagami. Also the fact that he doesn’t even seem to care that much about doing evil in Ninjago at first. He does evil stuff, and they’d certainly need to find a way to fix Wu and Misako’s situation, but it’s just as a means to get home. Once he finds out that home is just about to die? He loses the plot entirely, and that’s fun to see.  -Ironically, the interactions I liked best this season were the more understated ones. For example Jay and Zane’s conversation early on (which doubles as foreshadowing to Zane’s demise) was really nice for characters who don’t usually get time to speak to each other one on one, and I wish more of the interaction in the season felt as natural as that in the first half. As a bonus, it wasn’t even wiped out at the end so that conversation still happened! -Yeah, plot. The story was interesting once we got to the Sky Pirates, not quite as engaging as Possession but it was clearly aiming at more individual dynamics than looking at the whole group and it definitely managed to balance that with the actual story and giving the villain perspective. The framing arc was less interesting, if only because even for this show everyone suddenly turning on the ninja without giving them more chance to defend themselves is laughable at this point. And as for the ending...eh, I’m ambivalent on it. Jay and Nya’s arcs remain no matter what so at least that stuff stuck around (by design). But you do lose the existence of the other Sky Pirates who made a good chunk of the good stuff. I guess the other biggest thing you lose is all the scenes where Cole reaffirms that he is Jay’s best friend, but he can do that in future seasons and not just drop it because they’ve settled the score on the love triangle...right? -Once again, it felt like a pretty dry season in terms of tone. I think this is a running theme. -At least the annoying slow-mo seems to finally giving way. It was used twice. One was random, the other was thematically appropriate.
Overall, this season can be described as “heavy-handed”, moreso than any other story-heavy season so far. When it’s in this mode, it’s pretty annoying even if not terrible. But it still has elements to keep it going, and ends up in a pretty good place. Definitely comes down to individual taste on how much of said elements you can stomach, so I’m not surprised it has a marmite reputation. Out of the non-Possession story-heavy seasons I’ve seen so far this is the better one, but it’s still below S1 and S2 for me.
Next time, I will not be doing a season. The writers seems to want to end Cole’s ghost arc and that’s exactly what they’ll do in Day of the Departed.

Meet the Fancreator
So I’m a little late I think but I’ve been sick okay
Also I apologize in advance for how long this is, I like oversharing.
And a big thanks to @lloyd-is-precious for hosting such a fun event!
Hi! I’m Kat.
I’m a female with brown hair and brown eyes (exciting I know). I have really long, straight hair and all of my friends are apparently jealous of it (which I wasn’t aware of until recently). However, combating anyone’s jealousy of my hair, I have bangs that have been described as “very 2001 emo”. You cut your bangs sideways and suddenly you’re emo ig 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’ve been told I’m short, but I’ve also been told I’m tall, so I’m either average height, or everyone I know is either a tree or a dwarf.
I’m pretty shy and awkward around new people, I have a terrible sense of humor (I made a meme of Sensei Wu telling the viewer to be gay and do crimes, that should tell you enough), and the thing I’m notorious for with most of my friends is the fact that I take forever in the bathroom (I don’t take that long guys all my friends just like to bully me).
I’m cynophobic, which means I’m phobic of dogs. Don’t get me wrong, I actually really love dogs, and from afar they are the cutest things ever. But when a dog is near me I kind of just flip my shit, unfortunately. Nothing ever happened with a dog in my past that would have caused this phobia that I can remember. Luckily, I’m in therapy for it and am very slowly getting better.
I’ve never dated anyone, though I’d very much like to. I’m a hopeless romantic, not gonna lie. One day I will get my dramatic kiss in the rain.
I’ve been in the Ninjago fandom since about 2016, but wasn’t an active member until 2019. I tried to stop watching the show from somewhere around 2017-2019, but as you can see that didn’t work out for me (good thing, too, this show is fricken amazing!).
My favorite characters are Cole and Kai (though I love all of the characters dearly). For a long time I had a very, very strong hatred of Lloyd, but now I don’t mind him, he’s cool. At this point I don’t really hate any characters that I can think of.
This is gonna sound cringe but remember it’s 2020, cringe culture has been officially cancelled. Anyway my favorite villain is Morro (though I much prefer him in fanfictions with good redemption arcs).
Something I find important to let you know is that Day of the Departed will continue to bother me forever for one reason: the trashy redemption for Yang. Straight up he was just like “I JUST WANT ATTENTION!” And Cole was like “oh okay sure that makes all the horrible things you’ve done including ruining my life and kidnapping me totally okay!” And it makes me SAD. (Also I hate how the writers treat Cole and if he doesn’t get a season soon I will riot).
Personally, I don’t really ship anything other than the canon ships such as Jaya and Pixane (I don’t really like Kailor because I feel like they have no chemistry and it’s all a little forced but eh). I have no problems with most of the fanon ships such as lava or opposite and such, I just personally don’t ship those. The few fanon ships I feel really, really strongly about is any ships concerning Lloyd. Sure, Lloyrumi and Lloykita (hollyshipping?) are okay because they actually happened in canon I guess (I still don’t like them), but when people go around shipping Lloyd with anyone else, I do not support it.
I don’t think I have an absolute favorite episode, and I love all of the seasons, so. A fun fact is that the first episode I ever saw was S3E1 (the surge) after my friend made me give the show a chance at a sleepover. Following that episode, we watched the singular clip of Kai with Chen’s staff because yes. At some point that day, we also watched a series of videos called Ninjago Song Cracks by GreyStormNinja on YouTube (and they will forever remain as iconic to me as the show as a whole is).
The villains I like the least are the skulkin and the time twins. I don’t hate them or anything, they’re just… eh, in my opinion. Also, I didn’t love that they brought Garmadon back during the whole SoG ordeal, because he’s been used so many times and it just doesn’t feel like good storytelling at this point (that being said, I did end up liking all that went down after he was brought back, so, what do I know lmao).
Though most of the content I write is whump, I literally do not do injuries in real life. If I saw someone break a bone I think I would throw up. I like fictional pain, not real pain.
I have way too many OCs but they are my children and I love them. Hopefully you’ll get to meet them soon, because I’m working on a story involving them and as soon as I can prewrite enough, I’ll start posting it (the story doesn’t completely revolve around whump, so you won’t be wanting to kill me the whole time, you’re welcome).
Ninjago is my main fandom, but I also enjoy things like Marvel and Anne With an E (go stream on Netflix please we need to get viewership up).
And to bless your soul I leave you with two fic recommendations. Go read Lost Soul on ffn by DietCokeisLife, and then when you’re done with that, go read Return to the Cursed Realm (also on ffn) by FirstFandomFangirl. You’re welcome.

I will allow myself 1 (one) discourse post because I feel like I have to explain why I don’t want certain ships in this zine.
Okay so we’ll start with what I assume the anon got angry at:
Lloyd/Morro So the first reason, which should be more obvious - is because they’re cousins. Morro was adopted by Wu and thus makes him Lloyds step-cousin.
Tumblr media
I assume the angry anon was the same anon who wanted to submit an AU of greenstorm.
Not only is this zine not an AU zine - which makes their ship au completely irrelevant; but Morro and Lloyd in canon have only had horrible interactions.
Morro possessed Lloyd > Used his body until he was exhausted and couldn’t even swim > Only saving grace was last minute he decided to be good. There’s absolutely no wiggle room in this zine for a romantic scene between the two? Unless you wanted to somehow romanticize the possession which is... weird.
Lloyd/Harumi Same reasons as above - I have yet to see the season but as I’m aware Harumi was practically adopted by Garmadon. Making them step-siblings.
Additionally; I’m just not a fan of characters being shipped with a character they did horrible things to. (You know... hurting his friends, manipulating him to bring back his dad, making him fight his dad, ect)
I don’t enjoy ships based on manipulation and abuse - I make room for ships with actual redemption arcs eg: Kailor. But Morro and Harumi didn’t have those arcs. They never “made it up” to Lloyd.
And I cannot stress this enough, anon. It’s not censorship to not accept these submissions.
Tumblr media
Censorship would be going to your blog and stopping you from creating content I don’t enjoy. I’m not doing that - I’m simply not accepting ships into this zine I’m running. This zine in which you don’t have to download or participate in.
You have come onto my land and demanded I grow corn when I’m growing tomatoes.
Lloyd/Ninja ships
Of course, I can repeat the fact Lloyd was originally like, half the other Ninjas age. But a lot of people like to use the excuse that Lloyd was “aged up” and all that.
And you know what? Sure, fine. If you want to ship it I can’t stop you but again I’m allowed to accept or deny ships.
I’ve stated it before on this blog but I’m the only mod on this currently.  In general, Lloyd ships make me uncomfortable.
But what about the ships I’m uncomfortable with!?
For one, you being uncomfortable with Amberpheonix isn’t the same as me being uncomfortable with the above ships.
Why?
Well for one, ships with discourse based around arguments of pedophilia/ ephebophilia/incest/abuse/ect are different from you, personally, disliking a ship.
You attempt to... strawman an argument about other ships but you are fully aware of the context other ships like Bruise and Plasma have is different. (Asks are below, you can make your own opinions on it.)
And the second reason? because I’m the one running this zine.
Now I know that sounds lazy, “Don’t like don’t read!” But please actually consider:
You don’t have to interact with this zine, you don’t have to consume this media - I’m the one who has to put my time and effort into this.
I don’t have to justify past that, I’m not obligated to explain how I feel. I shouldn’t have to explain why I don’t want certain ships in a zine I’m hosting and putting hours into.
I don’t even care about the ship bruise but I’m allowing it because it doesn’t make me uncomfortable. This isn’t zine isn’t just ships I like.
The bottom line is the ships I argued above make me uncomfortable, I’m doing this zine for fun in my own free time. If I were to accept ships that make me uncomfortable - This zine would become a chore.
It would literally exhaust me to have to work this zine and I would end up dropping it.
“How would it exhaust you they’re just ships!?”
I’m not obligated to explain my mental health to you, but it’s not hard to know that working on something that makes you uncomfortable for hours on end would be a drain on someone's mental health.
Especially an already mentally ill person.
“But why not just add more mods!?”
Because all my friends also dislike all those ships - And I’m not going to force them to work on something that also makes THEM uncomfortable for my own comfort.
And I’m not going to add a random person I don’t know to help mod this blog.
TLDR:
- I don’t like these ships, I don’t HAVE to like these ships. - I’m not censoring anyone - you’re attempting to censor my opinion if anything. - Not once have I used this blog to tell others to stop creating content. - Make your own zine if you really care that much.
And since the anon was so adamant that I was apparently... hiding their asks? I just didn’t want to clog up this blog in petty drama but here:
Tumblr media
People can make their own opinion on this.

why do you ship gr33nst0rm? {not in a "you should stop cause im an anti" way but just why? i dont see a romantic dynamic between them but im curious about other peiples perspective}
Greenstorm is a hard ship to talk about tbh.
First of all, I just want to make it clear that I do not ship them because of any torture porn or abuse or whatever. I don’t think there are any greenstorm moments in the show so you can chuck that idea of me thinking that out the window.
The only thing that kind of got me to ship it was because I really like ships where at first the two don’t really understand each other and fight, but if/when they set aside personal endeavors and take the time to understand them, they actually start to get along and like each other. It’s a very difficult trope to pull off and the only show I’ve seen do this and do it well is Puella Madoka Magica with Sayaka x Kyoko and to an extent, Madoka x Homura. And even though the ships aren’t canon, in Steven Universe, that trope applies with literally every Peridot ship.
In my fanon, I like to imagine if Morro ever was revived for a redemption arc (which I really hope they do) there could be a really interesting arc between him and Lloyd. Because yes even though they fought, the only reason Morro really didn’t like Lloyd was because of his own envy for power. Yeah they fought and he maybe seemed against his morals, but the point is that was the main motive that clouded his judgment (and most likely his own morality.)
And honestly, if that happened, it could lead to some of the greatest moments in the show. We already know Lloyd believes in forgiveness (since Lloyd too was a trouble maker until Sensei Wu took care of him) so seeing him trying to help Morro with his self-esteem problems, Morro healing and debating with himself if he wants to make the effort of trying to get better like most people who feel destructive like him do, and both of them trying to adjust with each other through their grudges and fears.
Even if you don’t ship them I don’t think anyone could deny that would be amazing and the best characterization any of the characters could have in the entire show.
If you were to ask me if I shipped them romantically I would say “a little bit, but not really.” I know that’s a contradictory answer but hear me out. If they took my advice and did that with the characters, but they were just friends, I would be perfectly fine with that. A romantic relationship would be like sprinkles on the ice cream for me. (I know that would never happen but ye.)
Really I kind of ship them the same kind of relationship Steven and Peridot, Sam and Bucky, or Sayaka and Kyoko have. And if you know those characters you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
Sorry this was ten times longer than I thought it was going to be. Let me add a tl;dr
TL;DR
I ship them because even though there isn’t a lot to work with in the canon, and I don’t really ship them in a romantic sense either. I do think in the future if they ever brought Morro back there could be many interesting possibilities with the two that I would be very excited to see.
But honestly, fromm the bottom of my heart, I thank you so much for wanting to listen to other opinions even if you might not think the same. In a website where that’s incredibly rare, especially when talking about “controversial” ships. So I just want to thank you so so much for that. (Especially since writing this was really fun.) Thank you so much and I hope you have a cool day.
