Do you love your Mummy?

Now, I was prepared to love Willow like I’d never loved anyone before but what I wasn’t ready for is just how much she loves me. Her Dad said to Willow one day “here she is, the love of your life” as Willow beamed (and drooled) at me as I entered the room and that line has never left me since.

It’s true, I really am the love of her life. She adores her Daddy but really he doesn’t come close to how she feels about me. He could be a better parent than I am but to Willow, that doesn’t make matter. She definitely finds him funnier - don’t get me wrong, she thinks I’m hilarious too - but still I am number one.

Some of it is down to us spending a hell of a lot more time together whilst Daddy’s in the office working hard to give us a good life. Some of it is down to breastfeeding her and the comfort that brings her but ultimately I’m her Mam, I carried her for 10 month (yes 10!) and we have this unconditional, unbreakable, unexplainable bond which I have to admit I love.

I’m pretty positive that in the future he will be her number one whilst I will be seen as the strict one who spoils all the fun and doesn’t let her have that extra slice of cake Daddy promised but for now, I do enjoy being able to comfort her when she’s upset with her being my number one fan.

I remember seeing a video of a baby who had just been born and the doctors were taking him away from his Mummy and that tiny new born clung on to her and cried out to stay. He had no idea he had just be born but he did know where he wanted to be. Oh my heart!

So if you are an expectant mother reading this then be prepared. Be prepared to love with all you have. Be prepared to be so consumed by love you are terrified. Be prepared to fall in love more, just when you think your heart has reached maximum capacity. But most importantly, be prepared to mean more to anyone than you ever have before. It’s literally the best feeling in the world.
