for some reason i cant answer this ask directly BUT thank u user @honestlytastygayasstrash for the ask now get ready for the longest post ill ever write. I fucking love talking about my characters.

here they are. my scrimblos. :

Antek, token cis white man of the group: -ISFJ, he/him, age is around 18, listens to ABBA, Queen, Modern Talking, Manaam, Obywatel GC, Lady Pank and Depeche Mode.

(i think i wrote it on his ref sheet but he got his scar by simply tripping over a cupboard as a child. He doesnt tell anyone about this though and always comes up with different stories about how he got the scar. So some people think he got it by winning a bear fight or fighting a drunk old man)

-he is a fucking menace. and i mean it. most insane man on earth that always tries to grab others attention in the most dangerous and stupid ways imaginable. Also uses alcohol as his weapon to look and act more cool and always fails miserably. Hes also very noncommittal and always switches out the people that he talks to after a week, simply because he doesnt feel comfortable with anyone. But he still loves getting attention from others so he keeps getting into these relationships just to drop them later. Theres something different about Bianka and Gabriel though and thats why theyre friends. and I think his pinterest board explains his personality better than i ever will

and some fun facts! hes surprisingly good at cooking and is the only one in the group that knows how to drive a car.

if it comes to Bianka shes my favorite goth woman ever. Here is some info about her: -ENTJ, she/them, is around 17, listens to Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Myslovitz, Republika, Depeche Mode and The Cure.

-Obviously shes recognized mostly for her gothic makeup which I absolutely love drawing. And shes goth herself, and is even in a gothic punk band! The band members include her, as the bassist, Helena as the singer, Janek as the drummer and Antek used to play the keyboard before they kicked him out.

And this is how I imagine them:-) just two alt girls and just some guy. Love them

-Bianka is the most confident out of everyone in the group, even Antek who's all over the place. She knows when to stop talking unlike him though. However her being confident doesnt mean she likes being in the spotlight, in fact, she absolutely hates it. She hates that everyone is always listening to her and whenever she walks in the room all eyes are on her. So most of the times she just wants to hide and spends time in her little circle of friends, but if theres an emergency then shes the first one to intervene. She also has a very weird moral compass just like Helena so theyre best friends, obviously.

Literally her. A fun fact about her is that she has like four Siouxsie and the Banshees posters in her room and owns a golden retriver which I didnt name yet.

oh and i forgot to mention but Bianka has Chinese ancestors and has a lot of chinese facial features that I always fail to draw because I focus on her makeup too much.

The last one is Gabriel, miserable ginger guy whos also the main character of the plot and yet i know so little about him. Im still figuring out his personality honestly. Anyhow:

-ISFP, he/him, age 17, listens to Tame Impala, Gorillaz, The Strokes, MGMT, David Bowie, Dolly Parton and Depeche Mode. All three of them are Depeche Mode fans.

-As I mentioned I know very little about him. But I think hes more of watcher of the world around him than a member of it. He's mostly quiet because he cant figure out when its the best time to speak, unfortunately that also means he keeps his best jokes to himself. Hes also mostly dissociated from the world and tries to be an active member of it so bad that he always ends up doing stupid things or hurting himself in the process. I think its just safe to say hes still figuring out his place in the world, and because the world around him confuses him so much he holds onto safe memories most of the time. Thats why hes a photographer and likes catching all of the important moments of life on camera, its like a comforting feeling for him. Hes also very irrational and a people pleaser but i blame it on his undiagnosed AuDHD honestly.

-as hes the narrator of the story, its very important to mention hes a queer character. I avoided talking about the queernes of others characters on purpose, since its an important part of their story that i dont want to share yet but without any context ill just say that Gabriel is a trans man and bisexual!

as for fun facts he owns a cat named Felek, really likes green olives and lives with his grandparents. Antek also taught him how to drive a car but he never put that info in use.

AND HERE COMES MY FAVORITE PART!!!! ILL EXPLAIN THE DYNAMIC BETWEEN THEM ALL!!!

starting with Gabriel and Nastka, whom I didnt mention in this post as shes just a side character, its important to know that these two are childhood friends. Theyre not that close anymore, their relationship disappeared as time went on, but they both keep each other in their memories and think about each other a lot. They both nicknamed each other after Dead Poets Society characters too, so Nastka never calls Gabriel by his name, but Todd. Theyre also neighbours and share a balcony. Sometimes they meet there as theyre hanging up clothes to dry and just exchange smiles.

The relationship between Gabriel and Antek is more complicated. They met on a party once and never got to know each other better, but couldnt stop thinking about each other. Gabriel just knows about Antek from Bianka's stories and vice versa, and whenever they meet everyone thinks theyre best friends because of how well they can get along without even knowing a thing about themselves. They always end up dancing together on parties, going on walks at night and talking about their favorite books somewhere in the corner, having deep conversations about their views of life but they never ask each other personal questions and if you ask one of them to say whats their favorite color, they wouldnt know. I like to think the universe never gave them a chance to know each other better because if it did theyd be too powerful together. Maybe if they got to know each other better theyd be more than friends.

Bianka and Anteks relationship is pretty similar to the relationship between Gabriel and Nastka. Theyre also childhood best friends and first met each other in the counselors office in 6th grade as Bianka tried to beat someone up for being mean to Antek, a guy she didnt even know yet. She just needed an excuse to get in a fight with some boys that she didnt like and somehow made a best friend ten minutes later. Since then theyve been on and off, sometimes splitting up for months at a time and going back to each other to spill everything theyve learned while they were away. They always find support in each other even if they cant understand each other that well and are total opposites. Somehow Bianka always finds a way to cheer up Antek, even if shes the one to make him feel bad in the first place.

Antek was the first one to suggest they should make a band, and they tried several times until they ended up with Helena and Janek which I previously mentioned.

And the last one, Bianka and Gabriels dynamic..... its very cute actually. Bianka is the first person to show Gabriel the world around him and introduce him to new possibilities. She showed him goth dance moves and helped him find his taste in music. They met in high school as they sat together in math class and if not Bianka being confident and immediately accepting Gabriel as her friend, hed never speak to her. He probably still thinks shes too cool for him, but is very happy to have her as a friend anyway even if he feels belittled by her sometimes. Feeling belittled is why Gabriel usually doesnt speak to her first and waits until she does it first. They often do sleepovers where they watch all of their favorite movies for the tenth time.

Also they all have friendship bracelets. All three of them.

I dont know what else I could talk about so i think thats all!! Thats still such a long post I hope someone actually reads it. Thank you for asking about them I had so much fun writing this<3

I also purposefully avoided talking about the plot of Migawka because I want to keep it a secret. I really want to write a book or a comic one day with all three of the characters and so I wanna keep the plot to myself until I finish writing.

What’s your fannish ID? On Tumblr and Pinterest I'm DrewCas68 - boring but descriptive, made up of part of my name an year of birth. Stop laughing, you'll be as old as me one day. I curate bits and bobs that I like on Pinterest on a board called "Aww balls, Daredevil" which was kind of what I said when I realised how far gone I was on the program. On A03 I'm Meretseger68. Meretseger is an ancient Egyptian goddess known as She Who Loves Silence, the deity inhabiting the pyramid shaped rock watching over the Valley of the Kings. (Yeah, I didn't know that it wouldn't be appropriate now but I've had it for a few years and can't give up the name now).

What types of fanworks do you create? I started on A03 with a couple of little JohnLock stories, just as a bit of writing practice / a break from a novel I've been wrestling with for years. I'd been posting the odd drawing on Tumblr just on the offchance of someone liking them. I only became more active as I got drawn into Daredevil and found that Charlie Cox/Matt Murdock/Daredevil was an excellent reference as I wanted to expand my artistic range. I should say, whatever I do I am very slow. If I have four hours of paintbrush to paper it is likely that there will have been another three or four hours worrying about it before, during, or after. I'm hoping to take part in upcoming Daredevil events. This seems to be a friendly fandom, even to someone very new to it, so I hope to make something that you will like. I might even go back to writing (and maybe, finally, get that book finished).

What are your favourite types of fanworks, when you're not creating? I love all kinds of artwork, the creativity out there in fandom is amazing. I don't care whether it's someone in full Old Master mode or the genius who produces a cartoon that just sums things up in a few strokes. I've been binging on some authors on A03 while I find my feet inside the Daredevil tags. Again, there seems to be so much range and potential, something for all moods.

What about your creating process? My creative process is mostly worry and procrastination. Honestly, if I could just sit down and just do I think I would be much happier about it. Instead I can make a cat look focussed and can be distracted by anything. I create in the gaps left between part time work (6pm to midnight), working on my house (first phase nearly finished), sleep, and talking to my cat. And eating. I always forget about that. I've been living on my own for a year now and still not got the hang of that. I've had commissions for portraits of musicians and I tend to do them while listening to their music. This was great for the various David Bowie and Prince paintings that I've done but took a little getting used to when I did a Jimi Hendrix a couple of years ago (kids, ask your parents). As I started Daredevil art to force myself to try different techniques I've tended to let Amazon Music play to itself in the background but find that I have added Matthew and the Atlas to all my mixes recently when I need something calming. I absolutely cannot watch anything while I'm trying to draw/paint/write. I even have to put my phone away because I can't be trusted until I reach that point when everything starts to come together and I forget the outside.

Do you interact a lot with other fans? My experience of Tumblr up to finding Daredevil was mostly just liking and reblogging. Actual interaction has been a new thing for me. No idea if I'm doing it right but I'd like to keep trying.

Is there any particular piece you'd like to showcase for this post? I've had years of being scared of trying watercolour. Her parents were wannabe hippies who missed the days of the 60’s. In their twenties, they met riding around on a bus through all of America, living on the vinyl seats and smoking weed as they traveled

Freya was an accidental pregnancy and so they left the bus life and moved in with her maternal grandparents, got part time jobs and eventually moved to a small apartment on their own

They never wanted to be parents and never saw themselves living a typical lifestyle, so Freya got the message pretty early on that she wasn’t wanted. They were never unkind or abusive, just generally uninterested in their daughter. She was like an awkward antique coffee table from your relatives, something that you aren’t quite sure what to do with but know you can never get rid of

Like seriously she might as well have been a piece of furniture to them. They spent most of her childhood in the basement smoking weed and playing The Grateful Dead while she cooked herself meals of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

Her dad worked as a party clown and her mom was a bus driver so she got picked on a lot in school ghgfdsdfg

Has an intense and burning desire to be loved because she never got it from them!! She made up for her lack of love by throwing it in any direction she could. She’s always been pretty popular at school because she’s kind to everyone and has an ability to make anyone feel comfortable around her

She found in school that she has a fantastic talent for anything artistic. Painting, sculpture, photography, she does it all. Also plays guitar and piano!!

When she was 13 her parents accidentally got pregnant again and gave birth to her little brother Alistair, called Ali for short.

Her parents actually tried to be good parents for Ali which?? Pissed her OFF!! Like, they went to every parent teacher conference, nurtured him, were just AROUND which was heartbreaking for Freya to watch

She wanted to hate Ali just bc of this but she really couldn’t… there was something special about him and he was incredibly smart. Started reading at age two, and was a mathematical prodigy in the way that his older sister was an artistic prodigy. By age four Freya and Ali were having intense intellectual debates and she just found him incredibly fascinating, as well as kind

Loved her little brother to pieces!! When she got her driving license she volunteered to drop him off at primary school every day and they rocked out together to all her favorite songs and she taught him the words to David Bowie’s Heroes

But then the accident happened, and Freya’s life was upended. Ali was kneeling down in her parent’s driveway, out of sight as their mother was backing up and leaving the house. She hit Ali and his lung was punctured by a rib. He was rushed to the hospital but he didn’t make it.

The family split after that like a dropped snowglobe, the emotional shards of Ali’s death exploding in its wake. Her father left, unable to even hold their mother’s hand during the funeral. He blamed her for Ali’s death even though it was an accident.

Freya’s mother fell into a deep depression that she’s never shaken. Her grandparents moved Freya and her mom back into their mom, and her grandparents are now the full-time caretakers for Freya’s mother. She wanders around most days in a drugged haze clutching Ali’s baby blanket with a bathrobe on.

As soon as she could, Freya got out of the house. She applied to Northshore, packed her bags and got out. She still doesn’t like to talk about her family

Umm despite the tragedy she’s remained a really kind, positive person?? Her motto is “always be a little kinder than necessary.” She’s actually super embarrassed about how much she cares for everyone dfhgfds

Is a bit inspired by Noora from SKAM in that she’s not a fan of dating and keeps her walls up!!

She loves vintage t-shirts, converse, mom jeans, plaid skirts, red lipstick, big sweaters, pastel colors and her mom’s old Doc Marten boots from the 80’s

Doesn’t really drink to get drunk, but she does love drugs!! Of all kinds!! Mostly weed, but occasionally for big parties she’ll drop acid, or she’ll get high when she’s in a creative rut and needs to just go hog wild and paint sdfgfds

When I started this blog: At the end of March, 2 weeks into quarantining. I was on Pinterest and found out about some great DD Tumblrs, so decided to join. "Wtf is Duran Duran wearing" and the "Divine comedy of Duran Duran" were particular favorites of mine, though I don't know if they exist anymore. But basically I'm drawn to comedy relief, music (mostly retro), art and photography.

Current time: Thursday, 5pm (EST)

Cats or dogs: used to be just cats, but then I fell in love with Benny, my boss's dog. I work from home now though, so haven't seen him in a month! 😢

Dream job: photographer, designer, poet, writer, singer (except I get stage-fright, so that last one is definitely remaining a dream)

Reason for url: it was actually my youtube name first. "Starry Night" was one of my favorite paintings by my favorite artist, so that's mainly how it originated.

mars’ real name is not mars, it’s a nickname and a fake name too, they change it every few years; they picked a space related one because space is awesome

so mars is genderfluid, but they don’t make a big deal about it; if you ask them, they’ll say you can use whichever pronoun you want, she, he or they. most people just use she, which is 100% okay. they won’t announce it or anything, if it comes up in conversation, they mention it.

also they’re pan but they usually just make a pun about it and that’s it

(tbh i’ll probably change their pronouns as im writing mars is a v inconsistent human when it comes to lol everything but also pronouns. just. chaos!!)

they got adopted when they were around 4 years old after their family was accidentally involved in a shooting. john was around because he was involved as well, felt guilty, and took the kiddo in since they had no other family.

mars is v used to change, they travel around a lot since john does a lot of small jobs here and there, some of them legal, most of them kind of dodgy. ofc no one knows this. (more about this in task nr. 2!)

has lived in a lot of weird places: a boat, a mobilome, a trailer, on random people’s couches, etc. has developed the ability to fall asleep everywhere, in every position

john started saving up for college for mars because they wanted to give them a chance at education and a stabler life and mars said yes when john asked bc a break would be nice. they transferred to lockwood after their first year after starting a year late.

mars is a very upbeat and happy person, they bounce around and babble enthusiastically whenever they meet someone new. they're very sociable and friendly, honestly, they like most people they meet. to be honest, the grumpier the human, the more morph likes them. since their dad is quite silent and broody, they’ve grown to really like that kind of person. but they aren’t picky honestly. if you can put up with their shenanigans, everything is a-okay

at the same time they’re very closed, which means they answer every slightly personal question with a wild, uncoherent story. even their birthday no one knows. like they’re not your typical secretive broody human, you just realise that at the end of the day, even though mars talks a lot, you barely know anything about their personal life

they didn’t know tatiana very well but were still shocked when they found her dead. they didn’t pick her name though so they feel like it’s not their fault

mars loves loves loves pranks. combined with the fact that they have no sense of people’s boundaries and a lot of slightly shady life skills means they’ve pulled up some crazy shit. sometimes they go a bit too far which makes people upset but they pester them with love until they give up.

space is their big passion, also aliens are reals, mars will fight you about this. they study astrohphysics and man nasa better get ready to offer them a job or mars will be….Sad

Yoosung was born and raised in the city of Ulsan in South Korea. His parents were strict and hard-working individuals, who taught their child the value of precision and perfectionism. It was a tough environment in which Yoosung often felt like he was being brainwashed into some emotionless being, but he always believed he was destined to be more than the man his parents wanted him to be.

He was still young when he discovered his interest in makeup – he looked up to artists with androgynous aesthetics such as David Bowie and Boy George. To Yoosung, there was something empowering in being able to wear makeup, to not have to conform to the standards of either being male or female. He’d sneak into his parents’ room and borrow some of his mother’s makeup to try on, bought more feminine looking clothes that he only dared to wear when he wasn’t home or around his family.

At the age of sixteen, he gathered up enough courage to tell his parents that he was gay. His mother was inconsolable and his father was enraged. Yoosung spent a week at a friend’s house, fearful of his parents. When he returned, the topic was never brought up again, though his parents pushed harder for him to find a girlfriend. This didn’t result in much except Yoosung having to sneak around, kissing boys behind the school or at parties. Because his parents refused to acknowledge his sexuality, it was a lot easier to hide things – if they ever knew about the things he was doing, they never said anything about it.

When he graduated, Yoosung wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with his life. He was stuck at a crossroads and though his parents encouraged him to continue studying at some fancy university, Yoosung took a break of a few years to try and decide what he wanted to do. Instead, he took up some jobs he never really enjoyed. He got tired of the boring jobs rather quickly, however, so when he was twenty, he decided he wanted to turn his passion into more than just a hobby.

He let his parents know he was going to go to cosmetology school.

Not just that; he’d spent most of his free time on the internet, trying to figure out his identity. So after building up a ton of courage, he also informed his parents he no longer wanted to be addressed as a boy, as he felt he was non-binary. The reaction was… bad.

His father actually hit him.

He’d never been hit before, had never experienced such a cruel reaction to anything he’d done in his life. It hurt, mostly emotionally. But he was hopeful – he’d spent so much time contemplating, looking at pros and cons, doubting himself and then encouraging himself. He was sure that if he could deal with his parents’ passive aggressive reaction towards his sexuality, this wouldn’t be much worse. After all, he was planning to move out once he turned twenty-one, perhaps sooner if he could get the money together.

He couldn’t have been more wrong.

For a while, it seemed like it was fine. A few months went by and Yoosung could feel himself growing more confident. He loved going to school, finally allowed himself to express himself more the way he wanted to. His style became more androgynous, he tried out different hair colors, got his ears pierced and made some good friends in his class. He even developed a crush on a cute guy he met through a friend, though he never got a chance to actually try and hit on him.

However, his father had started drinking more and more, mostly unbeknownst to Yoosung who didn’t spend much time at home anymore. But when he did spend time at home, it was usually spent getting yelled at and blamed for every single thing that was going wrong in his father’s life -- his financial problems, his frustrations at work.

It was three months after he’d told his parents what he wanted to do with his life, who he wanted to be. His father came home drunk and started yelling insults at him, calling him all the slurs he could think of. Yoosung endured it, though he couldn’t help but snap back before he locked himself up in his room, afraid that there would be a repeat of the last time his father had been angry with him. The next morning, he got woken up by his mother’s screams. Alarmed, he made his way over to the living room, though now he wished he never had. He wished he would have stayed in his room, wouldn’t have had to find his father’s dead body.

Suicide.

One look at his mother told him all he needed to know; she blamed him. Within the matter of a few weeks, he was disgraced and disowned, banned from attending his father’s funeral and exiled by his entire family. An online friend offered him a place to stay in America (wanted connection??) and without much of an option, Yoosung practically fled his home country.

His way of coping was to build up walls around him, become the kind of person everyone stayed away from. And if they didn’t, he made sure to push them away. He refused to let anyone become important to him, refused to care about anything, because he knew it would only end up hurting him. He kept quiet about his past, his trauma, his guilt. And though he was plagued by nightmares on a daily basis, it only encouraged him to become more closed off, more frigid, more isolated. His mask of confidence carried him through life, allowed him to forget how damaged he was on the inside.

Yoosung Ryu would never give anyone the power to break him, ever again.

And I am done with my graceless heart, So tonight I’m gonna cut it out and then restart. ‘Cause I like to keep my issues drawn, It’s always darkest before the dawn.

ANYWAY so after caleb got back he was rly withdrawn n depressed. he shut lana out n was kind of harsh to her a lot of the time, always telling her to leave him alone or pushing her away. it didnt help either tht lana had a rly traumatic experience w some of her dad’s colleagues at the label when she ws 16 n he was away n she cldnt even tell him abt it once he was bk bc of his own traumas. she kind of jst shut it all in n kept it to herself

PERSONALITY/SOME FUN FACTS: uncontrollably flirty. boundlessly confident. cld make a joke out a paper bag n her comedy is sometimes surreal / absurd. she tends to laugh when she feels like crying n has a smile brighter than a ray of texas sunshine. always dapples her fingers thru the breeze when she’s driving in a car w the window down. her fav book as a child used to b alice in wonderland n she’d fantasise abt having her own little wonderland too where everyone knew her name n asked her things n took her on adventures. at the time it didn’t rly strike her how evident it was tht that was bc she was so lonely. she almost ALWAYS has some sort of sweet on her, whether it’s strawberry laces or gummy bears or cherry lollipops. she adores david bowie n prince n madonna n anyone tht’s a vintage style icon w little care fr what ppl think. wildflowers r her favourites bc they’re the brightest and u can’t buy them. she’s had like 8472493874 ‘relationships’ n none of them hav lasted beyond a month / hav been terrible / hav seen her being treated badly / she’s cheated on them. i dnt think she’s actually been w anyone she hasn’t cheated on in some form or another

PLOT IDEAS: exes tht lana’s fucked over hideously. she’d probably cheat a lot and it’d be a whole…mess. mayb someone tht flipped the switch and cheated on her? a cousin plot cld b fun too. a friend tht lana fel out w bc she slept w their significant other. someone tht’s getting lana into drugs?? she’s kind of impressionable/down for anything so tht’s a likely scenario she’d get into tbh. an unrequited crush!! (either way is cool). someone tht is just hanging out w her/using her bc she has a lot of instagram followers or they want to b signed to her dad’s label. someone in a band!! she’d probably make like penny lane n b their groupie/sleep w them all fgjkshgkh. umm a good influence too mayb? OH and a past summer romance/fling tht cld either have meant a lot or not have meant anything at all. bonus points if both of them hav a diff viewpoint on it. Research

In detail analysis of 2 modern and 2 New Romantics

Pearlier in my research I noted down a long list of people who sparked Insperation in me when I thought of Androgyny and gender, below I have chosen just 4 of my favourites, 2 from my modern selection and 2 from my New Romantic selection. It was very difficult to choose just 4 as I loved all of the options I wrote down even more so the highlighted ones but I thought each of these icons had just alittle something special each that stood out to me which I’ll discuss below.

Harry Styles

Harry Styles is a musician, song writer and performer born in Redditch, England. Only in recent years has he really elevated his fashion and incorporate large references to androgyny and gender. I notice he quite often likes to contrast very feminine, delicate pieces along with very stereotypicaly masculine features such as suits, tattoos and body/hacial hair. Through my research I have decided I really want to explore creating and rechecking this contrast as I find it very intriguing as well as very beautiful to look at.

Crystal Methyd

Crystal Methyd I first came across on drag race America season 12. Since I first saw her I’ve seen her grow into such stronger and refined drag preformer with a very unique fashion sense that bends and sometimes even eliminates gender and androgyny. I picked out Crystal because I find that in every outfit she wears from her hair to her shoes, it’s like I’m looking at a piece of art. Everything’s very abstract and personal high makes it so beautiful. In some of her outfits there are no things that scream towards having a gender and more just existing and being which I really like the concept of. In others it is again that contrast between very feminine and masculine. The whole idea that this feminine presenting person is actually a male presenting person is to me (and stated by Crystal also). Ery entertaining and also very intriguing.

David Bowie

As soon as I first bought to do this project on androgyny the very first person who came to mind was David Bowie. David Bowie is well known for his androgynous and fantastical fashion choices which were well before their time. I love everything about it from the bold and contrasting patterns to the abstract and didstorted shapes. David Bowie is one of those people that everytime I see my heart fills with love and admiration.

Steve Strange

Steve strange is the one I’m least informed about but he stood out to me hugely mostly due to his hair and makeup. It reminds me a little of mime makeup and the abstract fanstastical patterns really draws my attension and inspires me a lot to have a go at this style of makeup on myself.

Why was 2016 The Worst Year Ever?

Was 2016 The Worst Year Because of Death?

If you have spent any time at all on any of the social networks, such as Facebook or Twitter, you know 2016 was the worst year ever. But why do so many people feel that way?

Maybe it’s because we lost so many celebrities and famous people this year – I found a list compiled by fiftiesweb.com containing more that 150 names of well-known and some not so well-known folks who have passed away over the last year. Follow the link to get the full list, but here are just a few you may recognize.

January

David Bowie passed away on January 10th at the age of 69. He was a two-time Grammy winner influencing music and culture for four generations.

March

Nancy Reagan, First Lady of the U.S. from 1981-1989 passed away at the age of 94 on March 6, 2016

April

Merle Haggard died at the age of 79 on April 6th He was a very well-known Country and Western singer/songwriter

Prince, a flamboyant musician and winner of seven Grammy Awards, died at age 57 on April 21st.

Muhammad Ali, one of the greatest boxers of all time, three-time heavyweight champion (1964, 1974, and 1978), died on June 3rd at the age of 74

Pat Summitt, who was the University of Tennessee Woman’s Basketball coach from 1974-2012 passed away at the age of 64 on June 28.

August

Gene Wilder, passed away at 83 on August 29th. He was known for his roles in “Blazing Saddles”, “Young Frankenstein” and “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory”.

September

Arnold Palmer, one of the greatest golfers ever, died on September 25th at the age of 87.

December

John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth, died on the 8th of December. He was 95 years old.

Alan Thick, best known for his role as Jason Seaver on “Growing Pains”, died at 69 on December 13

Zsa Zsa Gabor, an Hungarian actress and socialite, most known for marrying nine times to mostly wealthy men, died on December the 18th at the age of 99.

George Michael, a singer/songwriter, the lead singer of WHAM and solo artist with #1 hits, “Faith”, “I Want Your Sex”, “Careless Whisper,” passed away at age 53 on December 25.

Carrie Fisher, best known for her iconic role as Princess Leia in “Star Wars” and four sequels was only age 60 when she passed away on December 27th.

Debbie Reynolds, Kathy Selden in “Singin’ in the Rain” and the mother of Carrie Fisher, died on December 28th. She was 84.

William Christopher, age 84, well-known for his role as Father Mulcahy on TV show “M*A*S*H”, died on December the 31st.

Did loosing this many celebrities in just one year make 2016 the worst year ever? Maybe…. But did you know we lose more than 90 iconic figures every year? Don’t get me wrong, we lost over 150 this year, but does this really make 2016 the worst year ever?

I have a few other numbers that will probably shock you!

Was 2016 The Worst Year Due Abortions?

Did you know approximately 900,000 potential celebrities also died in 2016? Who is shedding tears for these future movie stars, athletes, astronauts and world leaders?

Around 16% of all pregnancies in the U.S. end in abortion!

Why? you ask –

The top three reasons for abortion :

having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities (can’t be expected to take responsibility for my actions)

cannot afford a child (never thought about adoption)

do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner (selfish)

Now for the reasons everyone gives for allowing abortions –

Only 12% of abortions are for medical reasons

Only 1% of abortions are due to rape or incest

These numbers are just sad. But I haven’t seen a single comment on Facebook or Twitter about this being the reason 2016 was the worst year ever! We weep over 150 people who lived very full lives just because we saw them in a movie, but not a peep about the 900,000 babies murdered before the drew their first breaths.

Just because abortion is legal, doesn’t mean its right! Remember slavery?

Or was 2016 The Worst Year Due To Terror Deaths?

Suicide attacks killed more people in 2016 than any other year on record. 800 terrorist carried out 469 attacks in 28 countries killing over 5000 people!

Amazingly, I haven’t heard one person mention this when they are whining about “2016 The Worst Year Ever”

Priorities

Something is mixed up! We have not got our priorities in the right place. We mourn the deaths of a handful of wealth individuals who provide us with entertainment, but not the genocide of 900,000 innocent babies that never got a chance to be! We fail to mourn the thousand of individuals that died just trying to live their lives.

Please get your priorities straight folks

Hi, my beauties. Hope all is well? I started this little blog a little over a year ago and in this time I have posted over twenty-seven outfits. In me posting these twenty-seven outfits have been able to identify sorta what my personal style is and what style I’m drawn most towards. In this Discovering Personal Style Part 1 post I will show you how I discovered my personal style using style inspiration from others and Pinterest.

Finding who your style icons are and creating a mood board

The first step I did on Pinterest was I created a style icons and style inspiration board and just started pinning away any style and outfits I found cute and would wear. My style icons are Kate Moss, Stevie Nicks, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts. Who Are your Style Icons?

Kate Moss

Kate Moss is a Style icon for many, myself included theirs, not a look that she can’t seem to pull off. She’s renowned for her feminine but edgy effortless rock chic boho style. Typical items she’s seen in are leopard print, faux fur coats, ankle boots, black skinny jeans, blazers and bold prints.

Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks is the original Boho chick and her style is timeless. I mean how good did she look in American Horror Story The Coven? I’ll be honest up until a few years ago I didn’t know who she was, (*hangs head in shame) until someone commented on an outfit that I was wearing and said it was very Stevie Nicks. I instantly went home and googled and well my love and admiration for this fashion Icon were sealed. Typical items of Stevie Nicks wardrobes are Kimonos, flares, boho peasant tops, gypsy skirts, headbands, etc

Vanessa Hudgens

Vannesa Hudgens always looks stylish from her bohemian looks to her edgier looks. I love her Coachella outfits. Her style often includes her wearing feminine boho maxi dresses with edgy leather jacket and shades or in all black ensembles but still with a laidback boho vibe. Typical items she wears are maxi dresses, leather jackets, boho style dresses, patterned wide leg trousers etc.

Emma Roberts

I love Emma Roberts Style as she always looks so stylish and on trend but manages to put her own little spin on the look and completely make it her own. I think she has quite an edgy style as she adds quirky little accessories to make a look completely her own. Typical items she wears are cute little handle top handbags, cat-eye shades, cropped jeans, velvet heels, and she’s not afraid to experiment with different styles and prints.

2. Categorise Your pins And Style Icons

I then Categorised and identified which style my icons mostly wore and what fashion I tend to gravitate most towards from the list of different styles mentioned below.

Edgy Fashion – If you like to set trends rather than follow trends. Edgy can also mean you like to mix fashion styles together, for example, you might wear a girly tea dress but add a biker jacket and biker boots to toughen up the look, or you might wear a bohemian maxi dress then add a preppy blazer. Typical items found in an edgy wardrobe are leather (faux leather items) jackets, biker boots, and statement pieces that make you stand out from the crowd

Bohemian fashion – Bohemian fashion takes inspiration from gypsy and hippie looks. Typical items found in a bohemian wardrobe are maxi skirts, dresses, floppy hats, ethnic style jewellery, slouchy boots and hobo bags. Famous people with bohemian style wardrobes include Vanessa Hudgens, The Olsen’s, Sienna Miller and Nicole Ritchie.

Grunge Fashion – Grunge fashion is the epitome of the don’t care look. Grunge fashion is somewhat a mixture of indie and rock fashion. Typical items found in a Grunge Wardrobe are plaid shirts, ripped jeans, slouchy cardigans ripped tights and dr martens and ditzy floral dresses. Famous people with Grunge wardrobes are the late but legendary Kurt Cobain the man who inspired it all, Gwen Stefani and Taylor Momsen.

Trend focused – If your style is trend focused you tend to wear whatever is in fashion and stay up to date with all the trends. Typical items found in this wardrobe may include this seasons its fashion items.

Athleisure – Athleisure fashion is a style of clothing worn for athletic apparel but suitable for casual everyday wear. Typical items found in this wardrobe are tracksuits, leggings, sports tops and trainers. Celebrities with Athleisure wardrobes are Rhianna, Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid

Minimalistic – Minimalism style means that you stick to a limited colour palette, wear simple clothes without no frills or wild prints and wear minimalist accessories. Celebrities with Minimalistic style include Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sofia Coppola.

Classic – A simple elegant style that is timeless and not affected by changes in fashion. Items normally found in this wardrobe are simple but elegant pieces such as the LBD, trench coat, classic white shirt, court shoe etc. Famous people with classic style include the late but iconic Audrey Hepburn, Emma Watson and Kate Middleton.

Androgynous –Androgynous fashion is a style that aims to avoid gender stereotypes and dress either typical of male or female style. Famous people with Androgynous wardrobes are David Bowie, Annie Lennox, Cara Delivigne, and Tilda Swinton.

Preppy – A person who favours or is viewed as favouring clothing style or behaviour associated with traditional preparatory schools. Famous people (characters) with preppy wardrobes include Blair Waldorf, Taylor Swift and Alexa Chung.

Vintage – Likes to dress like a particular era from the 1920s to 1990s clothing is often one-off pieces found at thrift shops. Famous people with Vintage wardrobes include Florence Welch and Dita Von- Teese.

3. Identify your Label.

Thirdly after Categorising your Style icons and images into different categories, you might be able to see what style you are drawn more too. For Example, you might have more pins in the Classic mood board than Grunge. From mine, I can see I am drawn to the edgy and bohemian fashion. What are yours??
