Me: hm, I want something to put on the TV as background noise... Huh. Looks like YouTube is recommending something called The Last Unicorn. That's perfect, it's probably some old shitty animation that has aged poorly! I can watch it ironically!
Me, 2 hours later as the credits roll: *crying, cheering, buying the book, composing the songs*
Me, 2 weeks later: So I have compiled all of the quotes from the book that I think could make good tattoos, and also, HOW HAVE I NEVER LEARNED ABOUT HOW THE LAST UNICORN FUCKING SLAPS??? This gay-ass little fairytale fed my soul! Watered my crops! Transed my gender! Can't believe I heard of this story from youtube recommendations, of all places!!

COLLEGE CLASSMATE! YUTA who has his eye on you ever since you two entered college. a young, bright-eyed thing who moved from the boonies to the big city at a chance to find out more of the world beyond your farmlands and vast expanses of grass. who noted with wry amusement the pep in your step and the twinkle in your eye as you sit in the front row like a good student with an eagerness to learn.
COLLEGE CLASSMATE! YUTA who you approach with a stunning and naive smile. you're asking him for notes, the professor being too fast for your hands to properly take notes. he asks for your sns and sends you the pics of his note, and you eagerly thank him while unaware of the glint in his eye at this opportunity.
COLLEGE CLASSMATE! YUTA who scrolls through your social media and collects information about the kind of person you are. you know little about the world, but you're eager to learn more. your comments sections are full of relatives and friends congratulating you on you enrollment in the big city, and your cheery replies of thanks and acknowledgment. yuta chuckles as he sets aside his phone, eyes still trained on your back. how cute.
COLLEGE CLASSMATE! YUTA who continues keeping an eye on you. you keep asking him for notes because your cute lil brain just can't keep up, and he notes the waver in your smile when he shows off a little bit of his intellect. from how casual he is about his studies yet still getting high marks, the distance between you two is obvious. but there's still a spark of determination in your eyes—
— until prefinal grades come around and he sees you staring blankly at your phone. yuta angles his phone on purpose to let you get a glimpse of his, and he marvels at how bleaker your expression becomes. all your hard work... all your enthusiasm and eagerness... for nothing? have you always been this stupid? you were... you were always the brightest in your local school...
COLLEGE CLASSMATE! YUTA who watches you throw yourself into your studies more than ever. you don't have that pep in your stel anymore, your eyes have become dull and beavy, and no one can strike a conversation with you because you're always asleep. yuta is your only companion, angling your head on his shoulder so that you can rest more comfortably, leveling onlookers with a stern stare as he shushes them with a finger.
COLLEGE CLASSMATE! YUTA who watches your eyes lose the last of their light when midterm grades come. your fingers are trembling as you clutch your phone, and you bite your lip to avoid the tears spilling out. yuta puts a comforting hand over yours, and you slowly clutch his shirt. "i did my best, didn't i?" you ask. yuta hums, hand on your neck. "... i did, didn't i?"
COLLEGE CLASSMATE! YUTA who is your only point of contact for the rest of the finals. you don't even try. instead, you cling to yuta like he's your last chance at validation. you preen at his compliments, blush when he says he likes your outfit. the only time the light comes back to your eyes is when his attention is on you, and you feel a sugary rush in your veins whenever he smiles at you.
you, who does nothing for their schoolwork but instead focus on making yuta happy. you latch onto him like a clingy girlfriend, and he's more than happy for you to do so. while he studies for the upcoming exams, you're cuddled up on his lap, keeping him warm for the winter months. he pats your head and rubs your temple as you doze off to sleep.
sometimes when you voice the need to study, yuta shushes such needless concerns away. "you don't need to think so much," he whispers, scratching your scalp and he watches you preen. "aren't you happy right now? with me?"
you nuzzle into his touch, eyes fluttering shut under his touch. "... yeah."
"good," he hums, kissing you on the forehead. "then don't think of anything else but me."

These aren't super indepth studies of @arik-fonarik style but I'm getting there. I chose references from multiple posts from them.
.... unfortunately, all the ones i chose were with his eyes closed. I'll probably do more later.

My favourite thing about Tim body type arguments is that really he's not even that fat. He literally just has a bigger frame than everyone else, more of a dad bod. It's not like we're asking you to learn to draw fat rolls and double chins, just give him some actual body mass

make your choice
Digory didn’t think much on making choices. The whole world would be over when his mother died anyhow.
Of course, this didn’t keep him from being curious or adventurous. It was exciting to meet new people, exciting to go exploring and to speculate about whatever mischief his Uncle Andrew was up to. Being a lively young boy was perhaps the best distraction from being a boy about to lose his mother.
Going after Polly was so obviously right that it might as well not have been a choice at all. What else could he do? It was easy to be righteous in the face of an evil old magician who said things like "Ours is a high and lonely destiny."
Yet once they were there in that rich, in-between place, with all the worlds there were splayed out before them— ((Make your choice, adventurous stranger)) Well. What sort of lively young boy would he be if he turned back now?
Digory could feel the bell’s magic ((strike the bell and bide the danger)) beginning to work on him. There was no use in resisting. He felt tendrils of magic sinking deep beneath his skin, laying claim to any free will he’d ever had. He said as much to Polly, but she wasn’t listening.
Polly said ((or wonder till it drives you mad)) that he looked exactly like his uncle when he said that.
Jadis’s whole world had ended. Everyone had died, and she’d just gone to sleep. She might have stayed sleeping forever if he hadn’t woken her. Sitting outside his mother’s sickroom, Digory wondered ((what would have followed if you had)) if that was really so shocking. Hadn’t he been preparing for just such an end? Were Charn and Mabel Kirke so different?
Narnia was not an end. It was a beginning.
And face to face with the Lion, Digory was forced to admit that the bell had not been magic. Nothing had caused him to strike it. Make your choice, the writing had said. Digory had chosen.
I’ve spoiled everything. There’s no chance of getting anything for mother now.
The enormous Lion asked him, "Son of Adam, are you ready to undo the wrong that you have done?" and Digory sputtered his maybes.
"I asked, are you ready?" the Lion said again.
At that very moment, an ultimatum flashed through Digory’s mind. If I salvage your beginning, will you prevent my end? If make amends, will you save my mother? He thought of refusing, of holding his choice hostage until his future was secure. Could the Lion be bargained with? Could Digory twist his arm, as he'd twisted Polly's?
But what Digory said was, "Yes."
Jadis conjured such lovely visions of the future. His mother's face would lose its gray sheen and she would say, Why, I'm beginning to feel stronger. There would be no more morphia, no more of the terrible drawn look about her when she slept. She would rise from her sickbed, vibrant and whole ((Come in by the gold gates or not at all)) rise and walk to the door and fling it open and then Digory would go running into her arms.
He gasped as though he'd been mortally wounded. Perhaps he had been in a way. After all, had the gate not said ((take my fruit for others or forbear))?
Jadis ((for those who steal and those who climb my wall)) called Digory the Lion's slave. Years later, he would think back over all that those words implied. The Witch seemed to think that Digory had no will, if he was willing to subordinate himself to Aslan.
But was it not Aslan who made Digory realize his own culpability ((shall find their heart's desire and find despair)), and in the same breath gave him a way to repair it? Had not Aslan given his will back to him?
And at the foot of the tree, Aslan gave Digory his future back as well.
He was old, but now he is young again, watching as the stars fall headlong across the black of the world-that-was. The world is ending at last, but Digory does not fear such things any longer.

in addition to the emukasa post i made some time ago, if anyone even cares, the second absolutely heart-shattering wxs relationship for me is nothing else than ruinene, you can even say that obviously.
just like in emukasa's case, i also don't really ship them romantically that much outside of polysho, but it absolutely doesn't mean that they're not a good dynamic. it's that they're (or were, because they're better now, after all!) tragic childhood friends that makes them so good, so heart-wrenching — romance is only optional here and not that much needed of a flavor (unless you want to see them as middle school exes. this is the one scenario where romantic ms ruinene peaks over the platonic one)
because, in the very beginning, they had such a good time together. they were best friends. rui understood nene, and nene understood rui — nene was rui's best friend and major factor in shaping him into who he is today. they were just two children with good hearts who had found solace in each other and wanted to pursue their passion for theater, together.
and then middle school came. and then they drifted off.
and for nene, what happened to rui and what kind of person he was at this time must be shocking — and must hurt her a lot, because she wasn't able to help him. his stare was duller, his hair was messier, his words were not like his, and she couldn't do anything. all her efforts to reconcile with him were in vain, because he was better off alone — he said it himself. but he also said that it's hard to find someone like her, so why doesn't want to accept the hand that she's reaching to him?
well, but rui at least had mizuki, a person who he could share his loneliness with. nene had no one, if you think about it. so when the incident happened, when she messed up the show, she was all alone — this time rui wasn't next to her. she was stigmatized for what happened, just like how he was stigmatized for who he is, but he couldn't hold her in his arms, because he was just not there... they were both alone, on the different sides of the same spectrum. and even though nene must've understood rui's decision at least in a way, i wonder if she at least once thought that, basically, rui abandoned her.
but they're both together again now! they're in a place that allows them to pursue their dreams. nene can sing without fear, and rui is not a weirdo anymore. they're in a place where they can both laugh about the past and shrug it off, because that's already behind them...
yet, somehow, someway, even if just a little bit, it must still ache. rui said it himself, after all. it takes a long time to heal from trauma. and their middle school separation definitely, definitely took a toll on them.
that's why i really, reaaaally want nene5 to be a middle school nene event, though it's highly unlikely and i don't have high hopes. not because i want nene angst, i want my girl to be happy all the time — but because middle school ruinene is such an interesting aspect of their backstories that i just desperately crave more of.
idk man, everyone should think about ruinene once in a while too!!

..you know what's weird?? When people make characters fat/chubby and then..put them in the most unflattering clothes, that distracts from the actual character design like 🤨
Take Catty and Iris from G3, them being fat isn't an issue at all, but the outfits ??? Those are so terrible and not flattering. Like why can't chubby girls have cute and flattering outfits like everyone else?? That isn't a cluttered mess of brightness or mushed designs.
Yall can't design better outfits tf??
I'm ALL for chubby characters but at least give them good outfits, let them shine like everyone else!! It just seems like they put less work into the bigger characters to me ://
(And before Tumblr forgets how to read. I'm annoyed at the lack of FASHION, not the body types. Don't act stupid.)

I've been thinking a lot about magic healing today.
Like I can't stop thinking about how much truly incredible medical knowledge (specifically what we now think of as folk medicine, or like... battlefield surgery) is rendered pretty much completely obsolete by the existence of people who can mend bones with a thought. About how rare it must be for someone to actually know about how a body functions, when among most adventuring types, there's... actually little practical use for such knowledge, with little motivation beyond curiosity to figure it out.
Like of course, I'm sure there are many settings in which those with magical talent are few and far between. I'm sure there are low-magic settings where having access to magical healing is rare, and/or comes at a prohibitively high price for most commoners. But I can't help but think that... in worlds where healing spells and broad-spectrum healing potions are found in the stock of pretty much every merchant and every thug's inventory, ready to be looted, the work of midwives, village wise-women, herbalists, field medics, surgeons, and a thousand other professions is made pretty much completely irrelevant to so many people, simply because clerics, paladins, druids and such, are able to just.... wave a hand, and eradicate diseases, mend bones, transfuse blood, restore limbs, and sometimes even raise the dead.
Being medically knowledgeable on top of being magically adept would probably not only be rare as hell (hello, Halsin), it'd also take a lot of dedication, and a lot of respect for the body and the natural way of things that... I don't know how many even among the best magical healers would actually have.
I'd imagine that many who usually have steady access to a healer don't actually know jack shit about their own health, and... maybe even those who rely on magic to heal, don't actually know what they're doing all that often.
Idk. I'm just rotating this thought in my head today.

I don’t hate those who have seen the original source. I hate those who:
feel superior and entitled because they’ve seen the original source
trash on CQL just because it’s different from the books
force their book opinions on CQL lovers when clearly, these 2 are different (civilized discussions are welcome)
are disrespectful and toxic
If you think you are at least one of the bulleted points above, do us both a favor and block me!
I am doing my utmost best not to attract book/donghua fans by using proper tags. It’s not my fault that the characters have the same names in the adaptation. If you really have a problem with The Untamed, kindly block the “The Untamed” and/or “CQL” tags and I won’t be on your radar anymore!
Now, if you love CQL or— if you’ve read the novel or watched the donghua or both AND— you ARE NOT any of the bulleted points above, then you are very welcome here! Welcome to my blog!
More details about this blog—
I like to do a variety of stuff (majority about WangXian) but I usually make gifs. I organized all of them through the tags:
