Y’all, I really wanna see Eddie x Weird Girl
Like
• she collects bones and taxidermy
• she plays dnd and reads comics and novels
•she moves to Hawkins bc they advertise having “Hell on Earth” due to this massive earthquake that traumatized the town
• she works with Eddie at a music store, catching his attention when she talks about metal, blowing his mind when she mentions metal from other countries
• she invites him over and he immediately realizes she wasn’t just quiet, shes weird
• she has a cast of someone’s teeth, a bunch of vintage oddities, and bones scattered around her room
• she has a mega old record player, posters of weird movies, and memorabilia for horror films she loves
• Eddie is intrigued by all the knickknacks and random shit she has, staring at a teacup with a bunch of bizarre symbols in it, right next to a plethora of crystals
• he’s used to weird collections what with Wayne’s love for hats and mugs but never at this level
•Eddie’s intrigued by her flowy shawls and dark makeup, her obsession with the macabre
• he thinks she’s both weird and adorable
• he feeds her obsessions, collections weird rocks for her, learning how to dry flowers for her, buying her odd books and taking her to see weird movies at supposedly haunted theaters
• when he shows her his gnarly and twisted scars from the demo bats, he last expected her to look at him in awe, gingerly touching the spots as her eyes twinkle with amazement and awe
• she praises him as a hero, telling him the scars make him look like a bad ass and he feels a sense of confidence that’s foreign to him
• when she meets the rest of the group, she somehow meshes with them so well
• she talks with Robin about the most random shit like how scary the ocean is bc there’s so much unknown space there
• when she’s high she scoffs at Steve for not believing in aliens when “there’s a whole other dimension and Russian spies, Stevie. You think aliens are the red line?”
• she weirds Nancy out a bit but also makes her laugh with her witty commentary and strange endless knowledge
•Argyle likes getting high with her and talking about conspiracy theories bc she thinks big, but Jonathan can’t hang around too much because he gets super freaked out by how weird the conversations get (I’m talking like…. ‘everything is a simulation and they’re in a truman show watched by big corp and maybe the upside down is just the real world’ weird)
• she loves to be mega protective over the kids and also tell them weird stories, each one less believable than the next
• they hate coming over because she has a collection of “haunted dolls” that make Lucas’ skin crawl
•Max loves her stories and voice, also laughing at how unnerved she makes Lucas
• When she meets El, she calls her “lil alien” and knits her a hat to keep her head warm since she’s gotten so used to her hair
• basically she’s a weirdo, but everyone loves her and is also freaked out by her
• also see: “Does anyone wanna see this weird ring I made that has my wisdom tooth in it? I drilled a diamond into it too!!”

Sinistea Fun Facts! (Part One)
Sinistea are one of many ghost types capable of reproducing both sexually and asexually; in the case of the latter, ghost type energy can congeal in particular varieties of glassware containing cold liquid or excess moisture, resulting in what experts refer to as a “manifestation” or “spawning event”.
For this reason, prolific antiquarians take special care to ensure that, should they use their prized tea cups, the drink within is never neglected long enough to grow cold, lest they end up with an uninvited houseguest!
The reason sinistea almost exclusively manifest in the teacups of a certain well-known glassware company (and their much more contemporary knockoff brands) is hypothesized to be related to the specific mixture/ratio of materials in their ceramic.
Despite this, however, it’s well-known that sinistea can hypothetically spawn in any form of glassware capable of containing tea. In some circumstances, sinistea have been found to manifest in mugs, novelty cups, wine glasses, and in one very viral case, a glass water pipe.

The big brown one was half full as the opening was mud packed and I recognized the smell though I can’t place it (I had to dump the liquid it was too muddy )
Feel free to ID any of these bottles if you’d like!

Ok, I'm done collecting uranium glass forever. Because this is my UG holy grail and I finally found it.
This is an Atterbury Ferdinand the Bull mustard pot. He's supposed to have a spoon where the handle sticks out his mouth like a tongue but I need to find a replacement for that.
This stupid fucking glass bull is available in tons of different colors including uranium green but I NEVER found one ever. I've been hunting this bitch for years. I found it in blue, in green but the wrong shade of green, in white, in purple and white, I chased it across antique auctions for ages never once finding even so much as a reproduction piece in the correct noxious green.
So many listings I arrived to a day late. Auction ended March 2 2019. Auction ended June 3 2021. Always a day late, always a dollar short, and always the wrong color.
This is my white whale. Fuck you Ferdinand, from Hells heart I stab at thee. This time Ahab wins bitch.

this is probably a stupid (genuine) question but why do you collect uranium?
Glowy green stuff cool.
I don't only collect uranium; I have a collection of depression glass in a whole rainbow of colors, but I do really like the uranium glass.
It's spooky and neat and looks cool, but it's not actually radioactive enough to be a danger to people (at least not in the green glass form; the orange glaze form seems pretty hot in comparison). I took some photos of my collection around halloween and look at this:

I have haunted teacups and that is the raddest shit.

Mom's Antiques Auction
I wasn't sure if I should post this or not, but we are trying to auction off a lot of my mom's antiques. This particular auction isn't being held at my house, so I figured it was safe to post here.
The auction will be live until 2/13/24 with a "soft close" starting at 7pm Central. That's when items will be sold a few at a time as people place their final bids. It's just like a live auction without a fast talking fella in a cowboy hat. If you try to bid at the last second, that extends the time by 60 seconds so someone else can try to outbid. It's actually kind of exciting to watch.
If you are in the St. Louis area, you can pick up items at the auction place the day after the auction ends. If you miss the pickup window you forfeit the item. Auction rules are no joke.
Otherwise, they can do shipping but I don't know if they do anything outside the US. You can check out the shipping info and call for more details.
This auction is actually for multiple estates. So not all of these items belonged to my mom. Her stuff is from Lot 406 to 660 and in the furniture section at the end from Lot 978 to 999. The link above should take you to the start of her collection (page 17).
There are some really cool uranium glass items—including this knife.
Tumblr media
I had no idea that was in the display cabinet. I might have kept it if I had known, but I'm hoping people will think it is super cool and it will go for a good price.
I know that website looks like it is from the 90s, but everything is legit. We already did one auction and it went very well and everyone got what they paid for.
On a personal note, it was surreal watching them remove everything that had surrounded me for all of my life. I know it was too much for me to maintain and take care of, but nearly every one of these antiques has a memory attached to it. Most of the items will go to the auction fandom—which I had no idea existed. Pro auction people sell to hobbyists. Big auctions turn into little auctions. It's like an auction feedback loop where each auction hobbyist thinks they can flip the item for a little more money. They even have little auction meetups to show off things they got for a steal because one auction person didn't know the value of something. It's quite competitive and they like telling auction stories (whether you are interested or not).
All that is to say, I know not everything is going to a home where someone will take over custodianship of the cool things my mom collected. But it would be neat if some folks outside the auction fandom got some of her precious wares.
Hopefully with the money raised I can restore my emergency fund, which lasted all of a month after the last auction due to a busted battery and leaky-ass tires. Also, there will probably be a few more auctions after this as my mom collected antiques for nearly 40 years.
Speaking of asses, this golfing piggy bank game does not work very well (I could never get the coin in the hole), but I only ever saw it displayed from the other side and never realize all the junk in that trunk.

Fuck it, maybe I'll just turn into a grandma before I turn 30. I already sew and embroider, i picked up crochet, maybe I'll get into knitting. Might as well start collecting depression glass! None of these pieces match but they're all pink and thats what matters
Tumblr media
I've actually started kinda having fun identifying depression glass patterns and learning the history and what's rare and all that. The platter is Mayfair, the two teacups on the right are Normandie, and the one teacup on the left is Cherry Blossom. The cherry blossom cup may be a reproduction (unsure) but it's pretty and sparks joy so i don't care too much if it's a true antique. (Plus reproductions were already being made in 1970 so it could be a 50 year old fake lol)
I also got my mom a set of depression glass sherbet cups in Florentine #1, which are uranium glass so they glow under blacklight. I've already packed them up to give her for Christmas but here they are on the shelf at my favorite antique shop. ($5 apiece is really cheap for depression glass - I got her a set of 4 for only $20!)
Tumblr media
I love maximalism and i want to have a house full of pretty shiny things even if right now im in an apartment with Landlord White walls. I find it kind of comforting that depression glass was originally made in such high quantities because poor people during the great depression wanted something pretty and fancy for their homes without having to spend a lot of money, and now I'm buying antique depression glass for the exact same reason!
